Characters / The Other Kingdom Athenia

Go To

The residents of the kingdom of Athenia, The 7th realm of the 2nd kingdom currently being ruled by King Oberon VIII. It's Astral's central homeland, as well as the residence of numerous fairies, trolls, elves and other kinds of magical creatures.

    open/close all folders

     In General
  • Achilles' Heel: Solar eclipses. When a solar eclipse takes place, all the fairies temporarily lose their magic powers and can only appear as sprites if they're traveling to the human world.
  • Cannot Keep a Secret: Having an inability to lie or be dishonest will naturally make it very difficult for fairies to keep a secret for a very long. In fact, Astral barely lasts a full week without someone else discovering she's a fairy, thanks to her inability to come up with a reasonable lie.
  • Cannot Tell a Lie: Fairies are shown to be incapable of telling even a white lie, meaning they have to speak what's on their minds (or they could get around this via Exact Words). It seems that this trope only applies to the fairies, as trolls and elves are shown to be capable of lying.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Every known fairy in Athenia is linked with a certain color, that's the color of their wings and their sprite when flying.
    • Princess Astral: Light blue
    • Brendoni: Red-Orange
    • King Oberon: Green
    • Queen Titania: Pink
    • Peaseblossom: Light Orange
  • Faerie Court: Athenia and various other realms of the 2nd kingdom tend to have a royalty line, involving king, queen or both looking over the kingdom and working to keep everything under order.
  • Fairy Trickster: The fairies of the land enjoy causing mischief to the "others"/humans of the real world, although it's mostly as payback for what they did to their land some time back.
  • Hero of Another Story: The series made it clear that Astral wasn't the only fairy in Athenia or the 2nd kingdom in general who's been to the "other world". Dozens of fairies (and even a handful of other magical beings) have been on their own "other walks" and had their own experiences with human culture, and learned their own lessons. Petrithon, King Oberon, Queen Titania, and Oswald from Athenia alone, all had their own adventures in the human world. Unfortunately, the audience doesn't get much intel on these side stories, and only gets tidbits of them.
  • Hidden Elf Village: The fairy kingdom used to be open to the human realm with mortals being close companions to the mystical residents. However, after humanity started to create a lot a pollution, the fairy kingdom and its residents were forced to seclude themselves from the mortals/"others" and hide away, although the fairies are still the protectors of everything on Earth.
  • Nature Lover: Everyone in Athenia is deeply attached to their heritage and tend to treat the plants and animals as individuals with feelings. Polluting their land, or calling it "rugged" or "wasteful" is a quick way to get on their bad side.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: In this universe, fairies tend to resemble humans in terms of height, coloring, and body structure but they have characteristics that reveal their otherworldly and magical nature. A fairy's glowing wings distinguish them from other mystical creatures. They aren't born with their wings but grow their wings at a certain age but the exact age differs from fairy to fairy. Wings may be a sign that a fairy has received her full powers as Peaseblossom seemed to lack any form of fairy magic when she lacked wings. They can change into a tiny orb of light the same hue as their wings. Fairies revert to this form instantly and without consent when they enter the Other Kingdom but a few can maintain their human-sized shape such as the Athenian monarchs.
  • Pointy Ears: A quick way to tell a magical figures from an "other", is that some of the magical figures are shown to have pointy ears.
  • Spark Fairy: Fairies can transform to floating, glowing lights of different colors that vary depending on the fairy at hand.
     King Oberon VIII

Played By: Martin Roach
Princess Astral's father, as well as current King of Athenia and leader of the fairies. He holds as distrusts against humanity as he knows what they're capable of and what they've caused to their land. He understands that humans and fairies have a lot to learn from each other, but still worries for Astral. He only wants what’s best for his daughter, even if that means living with humans.
  • Authority Sounds Deep: He's got a supreme amount of power in authority, and is very masculine as a king. He's also got a very imposing baritone to back it up.
  • Big Good: Being the king of Athenia and leader of the fairies, he winds up becoming this by default.
  • Cain and Abel: The Abel to Petrithon/Peter Quince's Cain.
  • The Good King: Rivalries and strict moments side, he's still a reasonable and respectable king who cares about his people. And despite not always trusting "others", he's never directly hostile or unfair to them either. This especially comes to head when Winston gets framed by Versitude for a series of false crimes. A less considerate king would probably just have him punished/banished on the spot without bothering to hear him out, but Oberon was more than willing to give Winston a fair trial allowing him to share his side of the story and prove his innocence.
  • Good Parents: Strict moments aside, he's a considerate and loving father to his daughter Astral who deeply wishes for her safety.
  • Green and Mean: Inverted, as despite his fairy sprite being green and he himself being prone to extremely strict and unreasonable moments towards "others" due to his distrust of them, it's clear that he means well and that he genuinely wants to protect his people. He's more of a Jerk with a Heart of Gold who's definitely on the side of good.
  • Happily Married: He's got a strong, loving relationship with his wife Titania, despite some differences the duo may have in terms of methods.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: He somehow considers Versitude his most trusted advisor even though she's willing to start a war, constantly cackles secretly schemes to take down Astral, proves to be extremely callous to the Athenians, and half the time, doesn't even try to hide her questionable nature. Yet, despite all this, Oberon still trusts her a lot.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Say what you will about Oberon's... questionable ethics and morals and distrust in humanity as a whole, but he's still a responsible and fair king who deeply cares for the inhabitants of Athenia and his family — especially Astral.
  • Papa Wolf: One of the fastest ways to enrage him or bring out his bad side is to bring any kind of harm towards his daughter.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: When Athenia's in danger of being bulldozed, he actually takes an active role in planning to evacuate the inhabitants so they wouldn't be harmed from the destruction. And before that, he tried making a deal with their rival kingdom Spartania in an attempt to get his tribe to safety, before realizing he was making a mistake.
  • Scary Black Man: He's the King of Athenia who happens to be black, and can come across as very menacing and fearsome when he's furious with someone, especially when facing off one of his rivals.
  • Spare to the Throne: He had an older brother named Petrithon who was set to be the ruler of Athenia in the past. But Petrithon fell in love with a woman in the mortal world and since it was against the rules to bring an "other" to Athenia and have them be a ruler, Petrithon had to abandon the Athenian crown in order to stay with the woman in the mortal world. This left Oberon to be king of the land by default.
     Queen Titania
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_other_kingdom_character_013_thumbnail_550x5101.png
Played By: Tori Anderson
Princess Astral's mother, as well as current Queen of Athenia. She's very wary of the human world. She thinks traveling outside of Athenia is too dangerous for her only daughter. She wishes Astral would focus on training to become the next fairy Queen, but knows she has to let Astral be free to spread her wings.

  • Berserk Button: Do not call Athenia a waste of space or a rugged land within her presence.
  • Big Good: Like her husband, she winds up becoming this trope by default due to ruling over Athenia.
  • Good Parents: She's warm, sweet and fairly protective over her daughter, but she still respects her decisions of what she wants to do and trusts her enough.
  • Happily Married: She's got nothing but respect and worship of her husband Oberon. While she may disagree with some of Oberon's more extreme methods involving the others, she still respects him and tries to steer him to the right path.
  • The High Queen: She's a very respectable and caring ruler over the kingdom, who will gladly defend Athenia from harm in a peaceful way.
  • Mama Bear: She sends Spartanian King Reed and his snobbish son Cliff out of her kingdom when Reed forces Princess Astral (her daughter), into marrying Cliff in exchange for their help.
  • Mystical White Hair: Like her daughter, Titania's Athenian outfit, has her hair being a strong, solid white. And she's the fairy queen of Athenia
  • Not So Above It All: Titania may be level-headed and act professonial most of the time, but even she's open to a bit of mischief occasionally.
    • In the pilot episode, she compliments Brendoni on tripping Devon as a fairy sprite and making him spill his milk, saying she enjoys a classic milk spill.
    • After Brendoni plays a bunch of cruel pranks on Winston claiming they'd make him a "dingbat"/wizard, Titania helps Winston get back at Brendoni, by getting Winston to say what sounded like a spell and having a bolt of lightning strike Brendoni in the butt (without Brendoni even knowing Titania ever got involved).
  • Poor Communication Kills: She sternly warns Winston not to eat the Brindlebox berries as they were referred to as "The Killer Bees", but she never bothers to properly explain to him just why the berries shouldn't be eaten, and unsurprisingly, Versitude's able to take advantage of this and manipulate Winston to eating the berries and getting cursed into a semi-donkey form.
  • Red Is Heroic: Her fairy sprite is associated with the color red (or pink), and she's the benevolent queen of Athenia who cares deeply for her underlings and their safety.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Her smooth white skin and Mystical White Hair is clearly a gene Astral picked up from Titania's side. They look pretty similar in terms of appearance.
  • Trickster Mentor: After Winston's tricked by Versitude into eating some magic berries and cursing himself to slowly transform into a donkey, she'd reverse the spell — though not quite remove the effects — and give him some mysterious and vague clues into helping him prove worthy returning to his normal state.
  • Women Are Wiser: Queen Titania is far more level-headed and patient with the "others" and her relatives than her husband King Oberon is. She's also an overall more patient ruler considering Oberon isn't afraid to take harmful and drastic measures towards the those around him, while Titania is more willing to take safer alternatives before going for the drastic.
     Versitude
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_other_kingdom_character_004_thumbnail_550x5101.png
Played By: Alvina August
King Oberon's most trusted advisor and confidant in Athenia and a constant source for when there's an issue. Although not only is she not afraid to suggest violent and harmful methods to humans, she'd constantly plot to usurp King Oberon, Queen Titania, and Princess Astral behind the king's back, and play various dirty tricks to the Athenians to which she'd often deny.
  • Ambiguous Situation: For a brief moment, she's shown to have a look of uncertainty in "Cold Season" when Astral asks her if she had ever "seen a smile that makes [her] go all tingly inside, or hear a voice that sends [her] floating and silences all others". Based on some of Versitude's dialogue near that point such as "This never ends well", and "One day, your feelings will cause you great pain", it's implied that Versitude had a loved one in the past she had lost. No further context was given to this, and it's doubtful this would excuse her dislike of the others, but it would at least give her a Freudian Excuse.
  • Big Bad Friend: She works as King Oberon's most trusted advisor, while secretly causing trouble and selling Athenia out to their rival tribe behind their back.
  • Consummate Liar: Unlike the fairy king and queen of Athenia, elves are capable of lying and dishonesty. Versitude would take full advantage of this aspect by telling all kinds of lies on a regular basis, especially if it's towards someone else's disadvantage.
  • Dark Is Evil: She has dark brown clothing, and she's bad to the bone.
  • Devil in Plain Sight: Let's just say no one in the audience is falling for her act of being a Reasonable Authority Figure, Winston and Peasey see through Versitude's act within a few episodes of them interacting with each other, and yet somehow she had managed to win over the trust of the King and Queen who are none the wiser of Versitude's true nature.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Her very first line has her call "others" (humans) "wasteful, silly creatures", establishing that she views humans as nothing more than pawns and hers to mess with. And then, in that same scene, when Oberon asks for her intel with some sprites and pixies were getting into a fight, Versitude's response is to callously suggest that whoever survived should be given a unicorn. This showcases how she doesn't care about who winds up getting hurt as long as she gets what she wants.
  • Evil Chancellor: A female example, secretly wanting the kingdom for herself.
  • Evil Is Hammy: She completely embraces her dark side and has fun with herself about it.
  • Evil Laugh: She loves to cackle.
  • Faux Affably Evil: She'll put on a clever and convincing facade of being a loyal ally of the king and queen, while secretly manipulating various inhabitants, making their lives miserable and working with the opponent tribe.
  • Hidden Agenda Villain: Despite being one of (if not the) most recurring antagonist within the franchise, we don't actually get a lot of intel on just what Versitude's overall endgame was. The audience knows about her somehow planning to take over Athenia as its ruler, and prevent Astral from ever returning home, and how she views the "others" as "wasteful, silly, creatures", but... what exactly did she have in store for the "others" and their homeland? She claims that she wants to "align in kingdoms", and that she's a Well-Intentioned Extremist who just wants to protect Athenia as the "others" had made a mess of their land before, and that they had to fight back in order to defend their homeland, although considering her tendency to mince the details, it's likely she doesn't actually care about the Athenians.
  • Karma Houdini: While her plan to allow Athenia to be destroyed may have been foiled by Winston and Astral and her companions, she doesn't get directly confronted by the heroes during the Evermoor protest, and manages to escape any repercussions for not only essentially being an accomplice in the near-destruction of Athenia, but Oberon and Titania never discover Versitude's true duplicitous nature, or any of the other bad things she had done — including betraying Athenia to King Reed. She also manages to get the last laugh on Astral by informing King Reed about how Tristan was the lost prince of Spartania destined to bring harm to Athenia, and having Tristan get forcibly taken to Spartania to train to be king and possibly conquer Athenia. The closest she gets is a minor scolding from Oberon and Titania for keeping the information from them, and yet she still ultimately gets away.
  • Lean and Mean: She's significantly thin and in decent shape, plus she's a total nuisance.
  • Manipulative Bitch: She once frames Winston for a series of harmless "crimes" he either wasn't responsible for, or did completely by accident. And then another time, she gets aware she's being spied on and intentionally sets up a series of events that would get Winston and Peaseblossom suspicious of her actions, then when they turn out to be false, and King Oberon's had enough of their stories and refuses to listen to them, she reveals that was the intention, and with them out of the way, she was untouchable.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: If you rearrange two of the letters in Versitude's name, it spells "servitude", which means the state of one being a slave or subject to someone more powerful. That should be an instant tip-off that she's bad news. She was clearly shown to have an intent on ruling Athenia possibly with an iron fist and maybe she'd cause everyone to live in fear or as her servants.
  • Obvious Villain, Secret Villain: She serves as the Obvious Villain to Petrithon's Secret Villain, as it's made clear right off the bat she wouldn't be one of the heroes.
  • Obviously Evil: Let's see... twigs in her hair, wears dark clothing, mysteriously fades in her surroundings, smirks a lot, being willing to start a war, constantly cackles and schemes to take down Astral. Yup, sounds like she checks all the boxes. Heck, even her name's a dead giveaway of her soulless nature.
  • Only One Name: She's always referred to as "Versitude" and is never given a surname.
  • Shock and Awe: Among Versitude's many powers, she's shown to have electrokinesis, which means she's capable of controlling electricity and can even generate electricity from her hands.
  • The Sociopath: She shows a lot of signs of potentially being one considering she's misanthropic, viewing humanity as "wasteful, silly creatures" and little more than hers to mess with. She also abuses her position of being the king's advisor, is more than willing to bring harm towards Astral's and the Athenians' way and possibly endanger those around her, and has no qualms over lying to anyone she comes across. She would also make Winston — an early teenager no less — her own personal target as when she's not brushing him aside, she's placing him in perilous situations, including several near-death experiences and making him look bad, all without showing anything resembling a conscience. But some of her worst deeds include callously selling Athenia out to their rival kingdom of Spartania for King Reed to eventually take over and locking Astral and Brendoni and their friends in the school gym knowing full well that Athenia was at risk of being destroyed at the time, and that Astral and Brendoni would be unable to use their powers during the solar eclipse.
  • Superpower Lottery: She's shown to be more powerful than the majority of the Athenian fairies —including Princess Astral. Some of her powers include control of the weather, fading into surroundings, teleportation, time-freezing, lightning from her hands, and various other forms of magic.
  • Token Evil Teammate: While the majority of Athenia's major leaders — including the king, queen and princess — are all kind-hearted, good-natured and benevolent, Versitude's notable for being more sinister, two-faced and a less than ideal figure to trust or look up to.
  • Villain Team-Up: She and King Reed, the king of Spartania, secretly work together to stage a coup and declare war on the human realm.
  • Villainous Breakdown: She ends up having one in the penultimate Season 1 episode when Astral saves Athenia from destruction and ruins her chance to swoop in and take the throne. Although, she quickly recovers from it, after remembering her other plan involving Oswald and Tristan.
  • Would Hurt a Child: She has no qualms about manipulating Winston — a young teenager, mind you — into nearly transforming into a donkey, or placing him on trial for his life with a series of false crimes, or letting him get eaten alive.
     Oswald
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_other_kingdom_character_010_thumbnail_550x5101.png
Played By: Jeff Douglas
Fiery and stubborn, Oswald is Athenia's self-proclaimed fiercest fairy warrior. King Oberon has tasked him with keeping Astral safe and sound on her journey, but he’s not too thrilled about living with humans. He’s was assigned to be her guardian, although half the time, he often finds himself needing help.

  • Back for the Finale: He returns for the final two episodes of the first season as Versitude's agent in Athenia, after disappearing at the end of the 7th episode.
  • Been There, Shaped History:
    • If Oswald's story in "Cold Season" is to be believed, he and the 2nd kingdom were involved in dethroning Napoléon Bonaparte, and he himself personally poked him in the hand with his rapier, and played a role in his downfall.
    • He also claims to have invented the Christmas cake.
  • Cool Teacher: He temporarily becomes a substitute history teacher, and wows the students with his stories of the battles he's fought and his eccentric manner... except for Hailey.
  • Incredible Shrinking Man: He's shrunken down to 7 inches in the mortal world to keep his existence a secret.
  • Long-Lived: He was around during the time of Napoléon Bonaparte and his reign, which would make him over 200 years old, even though he looks so much younger than that.
  • Master Swordsman: He's fierce, tough, and a great swordsman.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • According to Astral, he once had an incident involving a parrot with a smart mouth, which was considered one of the few times he was wrong about something.
    • He had also apparently failed a task in the past —in what's likely his only failure— due to succumbing to the song of the siren, and yet he still managed to escape the island he was on.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: He's the source of various humorous and lighthearted moments as Astral's protector in the "other" world. Although half the time, Astral's the one protecting him.
  • Put on a Bus: He gets fired by Versitude from being Astral's caretaker after he grows to his normal size and his existence is revealed. He wouldn't return until the season 1 finale.
  • Shoo Out the Clowns: He was involved in various lighthearted moments throughout the first part of the season, so naturally he disappears after episode 7, just in time for the second half just when the shit's about to get real.
     Winston P. Althazar

Winston Percival Althazar

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/winstonalthazar.jpg
Played By: CJ Byrd Vassell
Devon's actual British foreign exchange student who was supposed to go to Devon's house and spend his semester in a nice, normal high school. But thanks to a mix-up due to fairy mischief, along with Astral desiring to visiting the human world on the same day, he wound up stuck in Athenia. Despite both of his parents being botanists, he's not in touch with nature very much and quickly find himself constantly being mistreated by most of the Athenian inhabitants.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Peaseblossom crosses between calling Winston by his real name, and calling him "Winnie" out of playfulness and care.
  • Black and Nerdy: He's shown to have a few nerdy personality aspects within him, especially with his obsession over the "wizardry".
  • Butt-Monkey: He was constantly being belittled in England, and while in Athenia he was made a fool of by Brendoni, manipulated into nearly transforming into a donkey by Versitude, framed of a series of false crimes, pulled into Versitude's plan of being made a fool to the King and Queen and being unable to expose her true nature, and gets caught up in Athenia's near-destruction. Let's just say, he's always getting the short end of the stick.
  • Character Development: Over the course of the season, he gradually begins to drop his Butt-Monkey status and grow some self-esteem and bravery as well as understand the importance and beauty of nature and genuinely care about Athenia and its kind and is willing to take a stand when things get rough. It's gotten to the point that he's blessed with a fairy heart by the King and Queen themself for his part in saving Athenia from destruction.
  • Cowardly Lion: While still partly being low on self-esteem and nervous about various outcomes, he slowly becomes more willing to take a stand and actively help out in tough times.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He was picked on and belittled by various other students back in England, who stole his lunch, locked him in closets, and called him names such as "Loser-ston".
  • The Dog Bites Back: After spending the first few episodes of Season 1 as Brendoni's toy to mess with, being a victim of his harmful pranks, and nearly getting swallowed by him, Winston comes across Brendoni in the human realm, and chews him out on everything, along with having him give up his churro for Winston to give to Peaseblossom (Brendoni had another one, but still)
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: He's has to go through a LOT of pain, misery and suffering before he can prove himself a true hero, win over the respect of the rulers of Athenia, and have a decent ending. Although this possibly isn't the actual ending...
  • Embarrassing Nickname: He was constantly teased by his classmates back at school and called "Loser-ston", much to his annoyance.
  • Fake Guest Star: Like Brendoni, his actor never appears in the opening credits, even though his character appears in nearly every episode.
  • Fatal Flaw:
    • Passiveness. Back in England, one of Winston's major troubles was that he was constantly picked on by bullies who locked him up and called him names and it's clearly shown he didn't have the courage to deal with it. He maintained this issue during his first few days in Athenia, where he allowed himself to be manipulated by Brendoni and Versitude on separate occasions. He starts to lose this flaw as the series goes on, and he starts standing up for himself.
    • Gullibility can also be considered a major flaw of his, as once again, he allowed himself to be manipulated by Brendoni and Versitude on separate occasions, despite there being some clear red flags in both situations. As a result he's placed in some serious peril.
    • His tendency to jump to conclusions without much evidence to support his theory is another major drawback for him. When first arriving in Athenia, he quickly assumed he was at wizard school due to the presence of fairies and magical creatures, despite nobody ever telling him so, and he spent the next few days under the false assumption, which again, allowed him to get manipulated. Peaseblossom calls him out on this in her second episode, and wakes him up to where he really was. Versitude would even exploit this flaw in an episode where he and Peasey try to expose her to the king, mainly, she'd intentionally sets up a series of events that would get Winston would suspicious of, then when they turn out to be false, and King Oberon's had enough of their stories and refuses to listen to them, she smugly reveals she was untouchable.
  • Fish out of Water: He's a human teenager who wound up in the magical kingdom of Athenia and is trying his best to adjust.
  • Foreign Exchange Student: He's a British student who was supposed to be Devon original exchange student before Astral replaced him. Although he ends up being transferred to Athenia which is "foreign" to him, so the trope still applies.
  • Lovable Coward: He doesn't have a lot of courage or self-confidence, but he still has a good heart and means well. He'd later graduate to being a Cowardly Lion after becoming more proactive and learning to deal with some of his fears.
  • Near-Death Experience: Within his first few days in Athenia alone, he's nearly eaten alive by Edgar the giant, and Swallowed Whole by Brendoni.
  • Swallowed Whole: Brendoni briefly baits Winston and then swallows him whole within a few seconds... before thankfully spitting him back down thanks to Oberon's interference. This was the final straw that forced Oberon to send Brendoni into the human realm.
  • Token Human: Upon arriving in Athenia he was noticeably the sole human or "other" residing in the kingdom at the time.
  • Token Minority: He's the only member of the main cast to be African-American (unless you count King Oberon, and even he's a supporting role more than anything.)
  • Trauma Conga Line: From since he first stepped foot in Athenia, he's constantly been on the receiving end of one mishap after another. He's nearly eaten alive by Edgar the Giant, harassed by Versitude, made into a fool by Brendoni, nearly swallowed by him, tricked into nearly turning into a donkey, framed by Versitude for false crimes, etc.
  • What You Are in the Dark: When Athenia's placed in danger of potential destruction, Winston overhears King Oberon planning to strike the "others" first — before the dimming takes their powers away — and "end the others", despite the fact that it might potentially start a war. Winston's reasonably worried about this, especially considering he was an "other" himself, and if the fairies and "others" went to war, he might get caught up in the war and have to fight against his own kind. Nobody would have blamed Winston if he chose to leave Athenia before things got ugly, and simply hoped for the best with Athenia, however, just as he's about to leave, he changes his mind and decides Athenia worth protecting and he'd stick around to help fight for the fairies, despite not having any obligation to do so whatsoever. He's definitely got the makings of a potential hero.
     Peaseblossom
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_other_kingdom_character_006_thumbnail_550x5101.png
Played By: Torri Webster
A resident wood fairy of Athenia, as well as one of the realm's feistiest fairies. She's bold, bubbly but a little clumsy, which are various traits that make her stand out from other fairies, aside from the fact the she's still waiting for her wings. She quickly becomes Winston's right-hand fairy and closest friend who loves teaching him the dos and don'ts of Athenia, and explaining the history and lore of the 12 magical realms.
  • Affectionate Nickname: She often gets called "Peasey" by Winston out of affection and care for her.
  • Ancestral Name: She gets her name from her mother, who's also named Peaseblossom... as well as her father. She even states that family gatherings were confusing.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: As a way of thanking her for showing him around Athania, helping him survive, and overall being a loyal companion to him, Winston would end up presenting her with some of humanity's ways in the season 1 finale, namely leftover props from the beach dance and music which they would dance to.
  • Birds of a Feather: She and Winston quickly hit it off with each other due to both of them being misunderstood and disrespected and outcasted by their societies.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: She proves to be this after becoming Winston's actual lawyer during his trial. She may not actually know all that much about the law itself, and stated a bunch of law related terms for a few hours without actually making sure they had meaning, she was still to counter a lot of Versitude's claims and poke some holes into her claims, which would allow Winston to help out in proving he deserves another chance.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Her first moments onscreen have her enthusiastically introduce herself to Winston while stuck tangled in a tree branch and go on a nearly two-minute-long discussion about her history and why she initially doesn't want Winston to be too close to her due to her seemingly hopeless scenario. This quickly establishes that Peasey has a serious Motor Mouth and has overwhelming energy and enthusiasm, but also some insecurities.
  • Fairy Companion: She technically plays this role for Winston, as she's his closest friend and ally in Athenia who happens to be a young inexperienced fairy.
  • Little Miss Snarker: Being the cheerful, talkative, Wise Beyond Her Years girl she is, it's only natural she'd have a good amount of snarky comments to use towards those around her, and she's not afraid to speak what's on her mind.
  • Miss Exposition: She spends a good chunk of various episodes, explaining to Winston the culture and history of Athenia and the realms of the 2nd kingdom, giving him an unofficial tour of the land.
  • Motor Mouth: Being the young, energetic child she is, she tends to have a lot to say and isn't afraid to let her thoughts be heard by others. She's shown to be capable of spouting out long statements and sentences without so much as stopping to breathe. She may deny that she talks much, but various displays of her actually talking in action prove that she indeed talks more often than one would expect.
  • Only Friend: She's pretty much Winston's only companion in Athenia and one of the only inhabitants who treats Winston with any kind of respect.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: With Oswald taken out of the picture and fired by Versitude, Peaseblossom would not long afterwards take over as the show's new resident comic relief.
  • The Pollyanna: Despite always being shunned upon by various other fairies, due to her lack of skills, she's mainly able to stay positive and upbeat.
  • Sad Clown: Various episodes would display that a key reason why Peasey's such a wise cracker and a Motor Mouth is because it's her unique way of coping with her personal insecurities. Namely, she's a loner and an outcast with little-to-no companions besides Winston, and hardly anyone's interested in her knowledge of the fairy kingdoms. Plus she was the only fairy her age without wings and the other fairies would take great pleasure in mocking her for it, which even plays a major focus in one episode.
  • Shoo Out the Clowns: While she plays a supporting role in the big climax within the first season's penultimate episode, she only appears as a glowing orange sprite and isn't making her usual comical one-liners or humorous moments.
  • Shout-Out: Her name's yet another example of being based on a character from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
  • Vague Age: It's not very clear just how old Peaseblossom is. She seems to be younger than the main teenager cast, but older than a young girl despite what her voice and demeanor may imply.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Despite being a very young fairy and pretty eccentric, she's shown to surprisingly be incredibly knowledgeable and far smarter than one would expect for someone her age. She knows all about Athenian culture and heritage, the kingdom's history around humanity and why they built a wall separating the nations, and even various additional realms outside of Athenia, including their archrival tribe Spartania.
  • You Talk Too Much!: She's often on the receiving end of this considering her tendency to needlessly ramble on about various topics. Versitude especially dislikes her constant talking and told her this nearly word-for-word offscreen.

  • Ambiguously Evil: It's unclear just which side Edgar's on. On one hand, he's loyal to the Athenian royal family and wishes Astral good luck when she first parts for the other world, but on the other hand, the very next day he tries to eat Winston — a human teen — alive, with Oberon's interference being the only reason he didn't do so. Plus he's also loyal towards Versitude sometimes.
