Characters appearing in The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious
Heroes and Deities
Main Characters
- Amnesiac Lover: Near the end of the Gaeabrande arc, it's revealed that Seiya and Ristarte were married and expecting a child in their previous lives at Ixphoria. Neither of them has memories of their former relationship.
- Divine Date: Rista is a goddess who has the major hots for Seiya, the human she summoned as a hero.
- Opposites Attract: Rista, who is overly emotional, expressive and excitable, is completely in love with Seiya, who is The Stoic and no-nonsense to a fault. While Seiya initially dismisses Rista's advances, realizing that she's the reincarnation of his wife makes him quite fond of her.
- Reincarnation Romance: Rista is actually the reincarnation of Princess Tiana, Seiya's wife from Ixphoria who he failed to save from the Demon Lord. In their current lives, fate allowed to meet again by Rista summoning Seiya to save Gaeabrande. Despite neither of them remembering their past lives, Rista is completely in love with Seiya even though she isn't supposed to because she's a goddess now and he rebuffs her advances.
- Rude Hero, Nice Sidekick: Rista is a kindhearted and compassionate goddess. Seiya, the hero Rista summoned to defeat the Demon Lord, rarely can talk to people without insulting them. So she has to apologize for him and make nice with whomever they're talking to.
- Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Rista is enthusiastic, loud, and impatient. Seiya is stoic, cool-headed, and wary.
- Star-Crossed Lovers: Seiya and Rista/Tiana were a married couple before they were brutally killed by Ixphoria's Demon Lord. They have met again now that Rista was reincarnated as a goddess and Seiya was resummoned by her, but romantic and sexual relationships between humans and gods are strictly forbidden.
Seiya Ryuuguuin
Voiced by: Yuichiro Umehara (Japanese), Anthony Bowling (English)

The titular cautious hero, who takes excessive precautions in his quest despite his high stat growth.
- Action Dad: Along with an incredibly skilled and powerful hero, Seiya is the father to Kiriko, the child he conceived with Princess Tiana in Ixphoria and whose soul is now trapped inside a robotic body.
- Ain't Too Proud to Beg: In his past, he begged the Demon Lord of Ixphoria not to kill Tiana and their unborn baby. His pleads went unheard.
- Always Save the Girl:
- When given the choice, he'll prioritize saving his friends over the world. He passes up on Igzasion in favor of saving Elulu from her sacrifice, despite how doing so means he loses the only weapon that can kill the Demon Lord.
- Subverted in Ixphoria, but not for a lack of trying. Kiriko's soul is tied to Ultimaeus's life, which means she'll die when Ultimaeus dies. Seiya spends days researching souls and even considers a plan to freeze Ultimaeus solid, but eventually realizes he cannot save Kiriko. The best he can do is verbally comfort Kiriko as he finishes off the Demon Lord.
- Amnesiacs Are Innocent: When he's inflicted with a strong case of amnesia that reverts him back to his reckless personality, he's a lot nicer to people around him, including the Ixphorians who blame him for failing his previous quest and their world's current Hell on Earth state.
- Attack Reflector: Counter Break is a destruction technique that reflects the damage back at the attacker. In this case, when Seiya lost his arm, this ability allowed him to also cut off Wohlks' arm without the latter realizing it.
- Automatic Crossbows: Technically, it's a magic bow, but Seiya fires his magic bow at Beel Bub's flies so quickly that it's essentially this. Since his arrows are flying much faster than the ones used by Rosalie's archers, the normally fast flies have no time to react before dropping dead out of the sky as Seiya shoots them all down.
- Awesome, but Impractical: His Meteor Strike spell is capable of destroying entire armies just one cast, but its capacity for incredible destruction means it can't be used anywhere else other than an open plain far away from civilization. Seiya never uses it again after wiping out Deathmagla's undead army for this reason.
- Badass Cape: He used to wear a red cape in his previous life on Ixphoria.
- Baritone of Strength: Has a deep, strong voice to go with his power and serious demeanor courtesy of Yuichiro Umehara.
- Became Their Own Antithesis: Seiya is pathologically cautious, obsessed with arduous training, and prepares countermeasures for every possible threat. His past self was the polar opposite; impulsive, reckless, hated training, and only cared to defeat evil monsters as quickly as he could without taking the time to prepare himself. His personality drastically changed after his recklessness got his entire party Eaten Alive by the Demon Lord.
- Begin with a Finisher: What Seiya does to the slime they encounter early on, blowing it away with a There Is No Kill Like Overkill massive attack.
- Berserk Button: An irritated Seiya repeatedly slaps Rosalie for being reckless and getting her men killed by charging ahead without a plan since it subconsciously reminds him of himself when he failed to save the previous world he was summoned to by acting in the same manner.
- Big "NO!": Screams this when the Demon Lord of Ixphoria is about to eat Tiana and their unborn baby.
- Bishie Sparkle: From Rista's point of view, he is sometimes shown with this, signifying her crush on him.
- Blood Knight: Played with. Seiya generally avoids unwinnable or disadvantageous fights, but his obsession with being prepared means combat is almost always on his mind, thus he trains like a maniac. This allows him to resist the corrupting effects of the Berserk technique.
- Boring, but Practical:
- His first method of Level Grinding and preparing himself to fight Chaos Machina again is to simply exercise in his room. Sure enough, even Rista is surprised when he did gain some levels and skills just by doing this mundane task instead of the typical way of gaining EXP in an RPG Mechanics 'Verse, which is killing monsters.
- His Platinum Swords aren't anywhere close to matching legendary weapons like Igzasion, but they can be mass-produced as long as Rista has hair and can be synthesized with other objects to give them special properties whenever he needs them.
- Borrowed Catchphrase: In the Ixphoria arc, he sometimes says, "I have seen all that you have to offer," which is Emperor Wohlks' catchphrase.
- Boxing Lessons for Superman: He insists on learning as many techniques from the gods as he can, becoming skilled at swordsmanship, archery, and destruction techniques in the process. This is because he's worried that he'll still be weaker than the stronger demons at his level cap, meaning he needs to learn additional skills to compensate.
- Broken Ace: His baseline stats were far higher than the other potential heroes, he's an Instant Expert that learns the skills from some of the most powerful gods in the Divine Realm in days, he always comes out on top due to his Crazy-Prepared nature and has multiple goddess falling for him. Even in Ixphoria, he was stated by Aria to always win despite being underleveled and never having a plan due to his natural talent as a fighter. However, people call Seiya "ill" for his exaggeratedly paranoid behavior and obsession with training so hard that his trainer ends up terrified of him. His personality ended up this way after his past recklessness and overconfidence got his entire party killed.
- Brutal Honesty: The man never minces his words regardless of how insulting they could be, even when addressing gods and royalty. Someone's offended? Tough break.
- Buffy Speak: Seiya calls the Transform Automatic Garuda skill as "turn into birds and come back, boom".
- Cast from Lifespan: Valhalla's Gate is cast in exchange of one's own life. The user could survive if they have maxed stats though. Valhalla's Gate Another takes his life as payment and not even a fully powered healing goddess can stop that.
- Catchphrase: When he feels ready to take on the next part of his quest, he'll say "perfectly prepared." His catchphrase used to be "gonna be okay" until Ixphoria's Demon Lord made the situation not okay.
- Celibate Hero: Despite attracting the attention of several beautiful goddesses, Seiya only wants to focus on training. He nonchalantly dismisses Rista's advances, outright rejects Adenela's romantic gestures, and shoots an arrow at a naked Mitis when she tries to seduce him. This is actually a good thing because if Seiya were to give in to the advances of a goddess, he would automatically lose his qualifications as a hero. This was averted in Ixphoria, where he was in a relationship with Tiana.
- Chick Magnet: Rista even puts a lampshade on this as she calls Seiya a "Goddess-Killer" after realizing that Adenela fell in love with him without Seiya even realizing it.
- Combat Pragmatist: Seiya never fights fair if he can help it which is all in line with his cautious attitude as he completely annihilates threats, so they don't come back. His entire plan for a dimension-crossing opponent he couldn't defeat was to manipulate the gods into doing it for him.
- Combat Sadomasochist: Way back in the past, even if there's a hole in his chest and when he had only 2 HP left, he was still thrilled and happy to charge towards the enemy.
- Comically Invincible Hero: A good part of the series' comedy is centered around Seiya's absurdly powerful abilities that allow him to obliterate entire armies by throwing meteors at them or destroy towns he was supposed to save while he uses over-the-top destructive attacks to overkill monsters. Turns out he is a Deconstruction because he deliberately makes himself ridiculously overpowered to compensate for risk. The result only looks like comical overkill.
- The Comically Serious: Most of the humor in the series is derived from Seiya's completely blank, serious personality being at odds to the ridiculousness around him (especially Rista's reactions).
- Crazy-Prepared:
- He's a strong believer in being overleveled against all foes and tends to stock more armor and items than he needs.
- After knowing that there are beings like Rista who can scan a hero's status parameters, he decides to use the Fake Out skill in order to fake his parameters in case the enemies also have a scanning ability like Rista. He's proven right when Chaos Machina does read his stats mid-fight.
- Cruel to Be Kind: He intentionally pushes his allies away and refuses their help, since he doesn't want to risk them dying in battle. Aria later reveals to Rista that she summoned Seiya save Ixphoria 100 years back. Unfortunately, he was reckless and charged into battle, hoping things worked out. It did until they defeated the Demon Lord, who turned out to have a second life. He then killed the exhausted party by eating them, including Tiana, Seiya's healer and lover who was pregnant at the time she was eaten. Though neither he, nor Rista, who is the reincarnation of Tiana, remember anything from Ixphoria, his extreme guilt at not planning ahead and preparing for contingencies carried over and triggered his "overly cautious" status.
- Dangerous Forbidden Technique: In the final battle in Gaeabrande, Seiya reveals that he has an even stronger version of Valhalla's Gate called Valhalla's Gate Another that creates a larger gate capable of withstanding Gaeabrande's Demon Lord's final attack, which was said by Rista to have twice the power needed to end the world. However, the cost is Seiya's life, which causes Seiya's body to break apart at such a rate that even Rista's full healing powers can't stop.
- Dark and Troubled Past: He had a wife, who was pregnant, in the previous world he was summoned, Ixphoria. He was very headstrong and basically bulldozed his way to the Demon Lord. He killed the Demon Lord without realizing that he had another life; cue the Demon Lord annihilating his entire party, which consisted of his friends and his wife. After Colt and Aria were eaten, Seiya literally begged the Demon Lord not to kill Tiana. However, the Demon Lord ignored him completely and proceeded to tear the baby from his wife's womb and eat it, along with his wife afterward. Seiya was sent back to Japan, forgetting everything that happened. However, the cautious personality was engraved into his soul. The goddess who summoned him this time, Rista, is his wife's reincarnation. And to add further insult to injury, his unborn daughter’s soul ends up being used to power a robot, and she couldn’t be saved due to being connected to the Demon King.
- Death of a Thousand Cuts: The Gunshot Sword skill that he learned from Adenela is a rapid-fire series of stabs and slashes that evoke the speed of firearms.
- Destructive Saviour: His tactic of burning the enemies' remains tends to result in property damage due to the scale of his fire spells.
- Deuteragonist: He's the title character, the second most important character in the story, and Rista's Love Interest.
- Disappears into Light: He vanishes into blue light just as his body can no longer take the punishment for summoning two Valhalla's Gates.
- Dishing Out Dirt: He uses the class change system in Ixphoria to change his main element to earth, allowing him to create snake golems and manipulate the ground to create passageways.
- Disney Death: At the end of the Gaeabrande arc, Seiya sacrifices his life using Valhalla's Gate twice to defeat the Demon Lord. Because of the Chain Destruction barrier in the castle killing both the body and soul, everyone thinks Seiya is dead for real. That's until Ishtar tells Rista that the effect of Chain Destruction was cancelled with the death of the Demon Lord, so Seiya is alive and she can resummon him.
- Dissonant Serenity: He can be calm during situations where an ordinary person would panic, or his demeanor wouldn't fit in the gravity of the situation. Rista also puts some Lampshade Hanging on these scenes to put an emphasis on his unexpected reactions:
- He quickly counters and slaps Rosalie's face while keeping his usual calm and stoic face. Rista then decries his "lack of feminism".
- While patting Adenela's head in order to calm her down, Seiya calls her an "eyesore" and that she should leave. Adenela happily agreed, because she's that just in love with Seiya despite him having said mean things to her.
- Doom Magnet: Played for Laughs when he's convinced, he's become one due to holding onto a good luck charm given to him by Nina in Edona, which he thinks is a cursed item that attracts high-level enemies due to Chaos Machina ambushing him soon after. He decides to hold onto it anyway because it's easier for his enemies to come to him. Keep in mind this is all over a charm made by a small child.
- Double Tap: Seiya burns his enemies' corpses just to ensure that they are dead.
- Dual Wielding: Uses two Dragon Killer swords when he had to quickly defeat the Great Mother of Dragons.
- Establishing Character Moment: As soon as Seiya arrives, he reacts with immediate suspicion towards Rista and her claims, and then outright refuses to step foot in Gaeabrande until he's spent a week working out to level grind in safety.
- Flaming Sword: His Phoenix Overdrive skill gives this, which he uses to kill Chaos Machina.
- Flight: He has the Flight ability and can travel in air faster than Rista, but not as fast as Beel Bub. He loses Flight in Ixphoria, due to that world having different rules and available abilities.
- Fling a Light into the Future: He did this to himself after failing at Ixphoria by leaving a message on the Properties screen.
- Foil: Seiya's cautiousness is in contrast to Rosalie's recklessness. But when his backstory is revealed, this gets subverted and Elulu even lampshades that Seiya's old personality is like Rosalie's.
- Foreshadowing:
- When he says "Properties," it's seemingly for no reason other than not trusting Rista. It's because he left a message for himself on said screen, which warned him to always be prepared, after what happened in Ixphoria.
- Volume 1's afterword describes two types of players: the more casual player who plays through the story without leveling much and the cautious player who overprepares. Seiya is an obvious parody of the latter type of player, but Ishtar reveals that he used to be a comically impatient and reckless hero who never grinds, resulting in his death in Ixphoria, making him a dark parody of the former type of player.
- Seiya outright hates Rosalie's recklessness. There is a deep-seated reason for this: It reminds him of his past, reckless self.
- Just after being defeated, Wohlks wonders if Seiya has faced death countless times before, possibly the reason why he's so cautious. He's right, that happened way back in Ixphoria.
- Freudian Excuse: Seiya's tendency to use There Is No Kill Like Overkill by repeating blowing up the ashes and corpses of the Demon Lord's minions at first seems comical due to his nature of being overly cautious. However, this came about because when he was in Ixphoria 100 years prior, his lack of planning and gathering information ahead of time meant he didn't know that the Demon Lord of that world had a second life, which revived him and let him kill off Seiya's exhausted party who barely defeated him the first time around. Consequently, this carried over when his "Overly Cautious" status showed up the next time he was summoned in Gaeabrande.
- Friend to All Children: He doesn't take kindly to those who harm children. The first two enemy generals find this out the hard way when they taunt Seiya by threatening to harm a child, or actually torturing them in Mash's case.
- Godzilla Threshold: Seiya has to learn Valhalla's Gate from Valkyrie due to a number of circumstances; he has already reached the Level Cap and can no longer improve his stats, and he lost both the Infinity +1 Sword and Infinity+1 Armor that would've made him stand a chance against the Demon Lord of Gaeabrande. At that point, he's already willing to risk his life in order to save that world.
- Good Old Fisticuffs: Though he usually uses a sword, or magic if he has time to cast it, he also trained how to fight unarmed, telling Deathmagla that his sword could get stolen, break, or just be ineffective against his current opponent.
- Good Parents: At first, he treats Kiriko with a lot of suspicion, but starts treating her kindly once he realizes that she's his daughter.
- Go Out with a Smile: After sacrificing his life to defeat Gaeabrande's Demon Lord, Seiya for the first time shows his genuine smile to Rista, having recognized her as Princess Tiana's reincarnation and being happy that he was able to protect her this time.
- Gratuitous English: In the Japanese dub, his catchphrase is "ready perfectly". In his past life in Ixphoria, his catchphrase was "gonna be okay".
- Heroes Prefer Swords: Wields a sword as his go-to melee weapon.
- Heroic BSoD: During the battle with Vengeful Empress Celemonic, Seiya collapses from the stress of seeing the corpses of the demons' victims. A lot of the stress also comes from learning that Kiriko is his daughter and that she'll die once he kills Ultimaeus.
- Heroic RRoD: Seiya slept for three days straight due to exhaustion from fighting Wohlks.
- Heroic Sacrifice: In order to kill Gaeabrande's Demon Lord, Seiya uses Valhalla's Gate twice, which results in his body disintegrating. Fortunately, the effects of Chain Destruction go away after the Demon Lord's death, allowing Seiya's real soul to survive.
- Hunk: He's a very attractive and muscular young man.
- Hypocritical Humor: While under disguise as a beastkin, he chastises Rista for almost blowing their cover, yet he draws suspicion from the beastkin thanks to his habit of buying equipment in bulk.
- I Am Not Left-Handed: His favorite tactic is to appear weaker than his opponent to analyze their fighting style, then reveal his true power and overwhelm them. There is a skill for this called "Fake Out".
- I Hate Past Me: It's heavily implied his rough attitude towards Rosalie is due to her resembling his past personality. When he meets a temporarily revived instance of his past self in Ixphoria, he can barely stand the latter.
- Improperly Paranoid: Some of Seiya's overly-careful moments are beyond the point of reasonability. When he encounters his first enemy, a slime, Seiya uses an Atomic Split Slash which kills it instantly, then uses Hell's Fire in case it's still alive, then uses Atomic Split Slash again, then uses Hell's Fire again. By the time he's done, he has caused more damage than the slime ever could.
- Indy Ploy: Deconstructed. During his first summoning in Ixphoria, he rushed to all the enemy bosses without a strategy in mind and preferred to come up with tactics on the fly. This worked until he ran into the Demon Lord and had no way to deal with the latter's self-revival ability.
- Ineffectual Loner: He prefers to fight by himself in order to prevent casualties on his side, due to his guilt in failing to save his party in Ixphoria. His solo attempt against Gaeabrande's Demon Lord would have failed if Rista didn't follow him, since he wouldn't be able to cast Valhalla's Gate again without her healing powers.
- Instant Expert: He has a knack for learning new skills quickly, as shown by how he learns combat skills from the gods in a matter of days and gets to the point of rivaling some of his teachers. In Ixphoria, he learns how to perform class change on himself after someone does it for him once. He even materializes a fire bow right at the moment when Elulu just spoke the instructions.
- Item Crafting: Once he learned the Combine skill, he has a habit of forging new weapons and stat-changing accessories. These can also be enhanced with synthesis materials, like the hair strands of his companions.
- I Was Just Passing Through: He claims he only saved Elulu from being sacrificed because he needs her to carry his stuff, but doing so means he's taking a huge risk due to lacking Igzasion. The fact that he's willing to compromise on his philosophy for Elulu shows that he cares more than he lets on.
- I Work Alone: He doesn't want his allies to fight alongside him because he fears that they could die. So he tells them they are useless and goes on ahead. It's due to being traumatized from seeing his party get killed in his previous summoning. This is also the reason why he initially dismissed Mash and Elulu's offers of joining his party. Finally, Ishtar explains this to Rista, when narrating his backstory:Ishtar: Ryuuguin Seiya knew that the Demon Lord might kill you... That's why he went alone.
- Jerkass Has a Point:
- When Seiya refuses to stop training to go save Edona from Chaos Machina, Rista reprimands him for being a coward. Seiya points out that if he tries to save one town before he's ready and gets himself killed, then that puts the entire world at risk from the loss of their hero.
- Stemming from his overly cautious personality, Seiya at least tries to make some sense in explaining his decisions. Like choosing to teleport outside of Edona instead of the town center, as it would give him a chance for a sneak attack against Chaos Machina. Otherwise, the demon would just execute her hostage on the spot if she saw the protagonists teleporting nearby.
- Seiya had every right to call out Rosalie for going into battle against Beel Bub without any strategy, thus getting her soldiers killed in the process.
- Jerkass Realization: In Warped Gaeabrande, he treats the people of the warped world as mere illusions that he can sacrifice to make his quest easier. When he learns that the people of the original people are affected by the trauma experienced by their warped counterparts, he admits his approach was mistaken and wants to apologize to Rosalie in particular after the warped worlds are saved.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's very insulting towards his allies, is suspicious of every new person he meets, and can come off as callous to others' feelings, but he's firmly dedicated to protecting his friends and saving the world, in that order. At the end of the first volume, he chooses to save Elulu despite losing the opportunity to gain Igzasion. Near the end of the first arc, it's revealed that he's cautious more for others' sakes than his own, due to his past recklessness getting his party killed and dooming the people of Ixphoria.
- Know When to Fold 'Em: He retreats with Rista once he realized that Chaos Machina is stronger than him during their first encounter. This is played with in that his actual stats are higher than Chaos Machina's displayed stats, but he realizes that she could be hiding her true power too. He also tries this when Crossed Thanatos first appears. Unfortunately for them, Crossed Thanatos simply chases them into the Divine Realm, and wreaks havoc for a while as none of the gods are able to stop it until Valkyrie is forced to step in.
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: At the start of the Ixphoria arc, a werewolf attacks Seiya and gives him a status ailment that causes Seiya to lose his memories. Unlike the amnesia that is usually given to heroes whenever they're sent back to Earth, this ailment is much stronger to the point where Seiya forgets the trauma that made him cautious, causing him to regain his reckless personality from his first summoning.
- Leeroy Jenkins: During his previous life on Ixphoria, he didn't want to train, he just wanted to push forward. Somehow, he manages to win battles through luck and some talent.
- A Lesson Learned Too Well: The last time he fought a Demon Lord, he found out too late that it had an Auto-Revive skill, resulting in the death of his entire party. Having learned his lesson the hard way, Seiya uses massively destructive attacks to completely obliterate any remains of every monster he defeats, completely disregarding the safety of his allies and civilians as well as causing major property damage.
- Lethal Joke Character: He temporarily changes to Jolly Piper as his primary class and Earth Mage as his secondary class. Rista is initially baffled that he would choose such a weak class, but Seiya uses a combination of earth magic and the piper's strong lungs to safely snipe beastkin with a blowpipe. This allows him to reach the level cap and isolate Bunogeos.
- Let Them Die Happy: When going back in time to the moment where Tiana died, Seiya takes the time to console her, despite how doing so risks a time paradox.
- Level Grinding: The reason why he locks himself for training is to ensure that he will have higher stats than his opponents. At first, he uses the Fake Out skill to make his parameters lower than the real values, so that his opponents would underestimate him, when in reality, Seiya has the upper hand.
- Literally Shattered Lives: The toll for casting Valhalla's Gate Another is so severe that the wounds in his body begin to form cracks all over him, slowly killing him as his limbs disappear.
- Lust Object: Rista doesn't put much effort into hiding how much she wants to jump into bed with Seiya despite knowing it would get them both into big trouble because goddesses can't be in relationships with humans.
- Magic Knight: He can also learn various elemental spells, as well as channeling magic through his weapon.
- Major Injury Underreaction: Despite his dislike of taking even the slightest bit of damage, he has high pain tolerance. When Emperor Roseguard cuts his arm off, Seiya calmly activates a technique to mirror that damage onto the emperor's matching arm.
- Make Sure He's Dead: He's always worried that his slain foes will come back to life because in his previous summoning, he was killed by Demon Lord Ultimaeus, who has a self-revival technique. As such, he spams his best skills and fire magic to ensure not a single cell remains, collateral damage be damned. After gaining earth magic, he starts sending his enemies to the planet's core to ensure their remains are incinerated.
- Master Swordsman: After training with Cerceus and Adenela, he becomes skilled enough with a sword to adapt several of his techniques to Dual Wielding.
- Meteor-Summoning Attack: He can use a spell called Meteor Strike to summon a meteor capable of wiping out tens of thousands of enemies. He also has enough MP reserves to spam it all day.
- Mook Horror Show: Seiya's enemies can grow quite terrified of him once he neutralizes any potential threats they possessed, especially if he takes out a lot of them at once.
- Moral Myopia: He scolds Ristarte for looking at his status screen because that is an invasion of personal privacy. Okay, fair enough, but he doesn't see anything wrong with entering Ristarte's bedroom and pulling hairs out of her head while she's sleeping.
- Mr. Fanservice: The manga and anime feature many shots of him working out while shirtless, and he's ripped in each one.
- Mundane Utility:
- Without their knowledge, Seiya gathers the hair strands of his companions (especially Rista) so that he could use them as synthesis material in forging new equipment with his Combine skill. Surprisingly, the results come with additional benefits depending on the person's hair. He speculates that the items will be of good quality when mixed with Rista's hair (one is a Platinum Sword), Mash's and Elulu's hairs helped forge the Dragon Killer sword since they belong to the dragonkin.
- Even though he isn't dealing damage at that point, Seiya kept on using "Gunshot Sword" against the Dragon Mother in order to push her off the ledge and make her die from falling.
- Seiya sees Mash and Elulu as his personal inventory carriers. After he defeats Beel Bub and the demon flies, he commands Elulu to buff Mash with Haste so that he can quickly carry the flies' corpses into a mound to be incinerated.
- My Greatest Failure: In his first summon, he rushed to save Ixphoria, which resulted him in being underleveled and lacking in information to finish Ixphoria's Demon Lord. He was too weak to stop the Demon Lord from eating his party in front of him before the Demon Lord ate his wife Tiana and their unborn baby. He deeply regrets this failure to the point where he becomes more cautious despite losing his memories.
- My Greatest Second Chance: Before getting killed by Ixphoria's Demon Lord, he left himself a message in his "Properties" window telling himself to be more cautious so he can save the next world to which he's summoned, along with any friends he makes there. He succeeds in saving the next world, Gaeabrande, though his real second chance arrives when he's resummoned to Ixphoria.
- Mysterious Past: Not much is known about Seiya's life in Japan, other than him being unfamiliar with the Isekai genre. In the Twisted Gaeabrande arc, he's summoned in military camo and he states he occasionally has a job where this outfit is appropriate, implying he's in the JSDF.
- Never Be Hurt Again: His subconscious only had his cautious personality left over after the mind wipe, meaning his constant pushing away people and extreme pragmatism is a result of not wanting to go through the same tragedy he experienced in Ixphoria.
- New Game Plus: The closest explanation for why Seiya has the "Overly Cautious" personality even at Level 1. He has already been summoned before in an attempt to save another world. He may have lost his memories of his past adventures, but the trait of being paranoid and cautious became ingrained in him due to the guilt of failing to save Ixphoria.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!: Due to his overly cautious nature, Seiya made sure to pulverize Chaos Machina's remains to make sure that she won't regenerate. After casting Hell's Fire and Maximum Inferno repeatedly despite the others' protests, he accidentally sets Edona on fire, with the townspeople who previously praised him as a hero now demanding him to leave.
- The Nicknamer:
- He calls both Rista and Valkyrie "exhibitionists" after looking at their outfits. Both goddesses take offense to this.
- He calls Mash as "mushroom" or "organic mushroom".
- He calls Rista as "inferior herb woman" after her healing powers lost against a shopkeeper's herbal medicine.
- No Social Skills: The only skills that he doesn't max out as soon as he can are those relating to anything that has to do with relating to other people. Just one example is calling Mash "Mushroom" even after he's proven that he knows Mash's actual name.
- Not Quite Dead: After Seiya disappears into light from paying the toll of summoning two Valhalla's Gates, his friends mourned for him, thinking that he's truly dead. This wasn't the case as Ishtar revealed that the effects of Chain Destruction vanished as soon as Seiya summoned the second gate, and that his soul is perfectly safe, he's just sent back to Earth, and Rista can summon him again.
- One-Man Army: He's so powerful that he can wipe out entire armies by himself. Early on in his adventure, he faces off against Deathmagla's 10,000 strong army of undead soldiers. He opts to throw a meteor that kills them all. And a second one, just to be safe.
- The Only One I Trust: If someone gives him food, and their name is not "Rista", then he assumes it is poisoned.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
- After training with Valkyrie, Seiya doesn't state that he's "perfectly prepared." This is because he knows that his chances of beating Gaeabrande's Demon Lord are slim and that he plans on sacrificing himself to win. It also applies before he attempted to fight Eraser Kaiser. Fortunately, Wohlks was the one who killed Kaiser. Finally, in the next battle, Seiya never mentioned this when he fights Wohlks himself, and it shows that he had a hard time in their fight.
- Seiya shouting "Stop! You'll die!" with a worried expression and tone different from his usual stoic demeanor when his allies try to assist him in fighting Wohlks.
- At the end of Episode 10, Seiya tells the party that they should take some time for R&R, which is unusual for a training maniac like him. This is so he can leave to fight the Demon Lord by himself while everyone else is relaxing in the city.
- In Episode 12, after defeating the Demon Lord at the cost of his life, Seiya finally drops his cold front and thanks his party for their help.
- Out of Character: After Rista finds out that he faked the ultimate sword Igzasion, Seiya whispers "Gonna be okay" to himself in a worried tone.
- Overshadowed by Awesome: While Seiya normally battles the tougher opponents, after defeating Beel Bub, he tells Mash and Elulu it's their turn to shine and show off some of the new skills they got after training with Ariadoa. Thinking they'd finally get a chance to fight something, Seiya instead kills all the remaining flies by shooting at them very quickly with his bow. He then asks Elulu to use her Haste buff on Mash, and has Mash collect all the dead bodies so he can incinerate them all at once.
- Papa Wolf: He spends much of the Ixphoria arc trying to research a way to save the soul of his child Kiriko from Ultimaeus.
- Percussive Maintenance: Invoked. When he loses his memories during the Ixphoria arc, he hits his head against his jail bars, believing that he can fix himself like a broken TV. Fortunately, this method succeeds in restoring his memories.
- Playing with Fire: He specializes in fire elemental magic, though this means his aptitude for ice magic is low to compensate. He gets around this by making an accessory that allows him to use ice magic.
- Pragmatic Hero: Seiya cares for the people of Ixphoria but will do some underhanded things to save them. When he learns that Chaos Machina set a time limit for him to return before she kills Nina's father, he insists on training until the last minute in order to maximize his chances of victory despite how heartless that seems. His reasoning is that if he fights her too soon, he'll lose and put Gaeabrande's entire population in jeopardy. Let's also not forget that he abandons his companions so that they won't be in danger when he goes to fight the Demon Lord.
- Properly Paranoid: Despite the title claiming he's overly cautious, the demons are crafty and powerful enough to warrant his countermeasures. This is shown when the first demon general attacked him while he was traveling in a low-level plain, which would have resulted in his death if he didn't take several days to exercise in the Divine Realm beforehand in the off-chance that he encounters a strong enemy in a weak area. When visiting the Dragons' Den, he correctly anticipates that he'll need to prepare to fight against its residents, and prepares an anti-dragon weapon that allows him to breach the Great Mother's defenses. His suspicion towards Emperor Roseguard is also warranted, and he correctly guesses that the emperor made a deal with the Demon Lord out of frustration towards his aging body. While he also has a few Improperly Paranoid moments, especially in the early episodes, all things considered, his caution is mostly justified.
- Real Men Hate Sugar: Going by his disgusted response both times people offered him cake, he doesn't care much for sweets.
- Required Secondary Powers: He states that mastering Valkyrie's aura of destruction and using Gate of Valhalla twice is the only reason he's mentally strong enough to use the Berserk technique.
- Screaming Warrior: When using Valhalla Thrust to push Gaeabrande's Demon Lord into Valhalla's Gate, Seiya screams at the top of his lungs.
- Shed Armor, Gain Speed: Before fighting Wohlks, Seiya gets serious by dropping all his accessories and arm braces on the floor in order to attack faster.
- Smells Sexy: Rista engages in some Perverted Sniffing when hugging Seiya.
- Smug Super: Subverted. Due to his recklessness and devil-may-care attitude, Seiya's expression was mostly smug in the past. Then a tragedy happened during the final fight that changed his overall expression to The Stoic Seiya whom we knew from the start.
- The So-Called Coward: Unusually for this, Seiya is not a pacifist, but rather a combat pragmatist who won't engage in battle without at least five contingency plans, even when the threat he's facing seems minimal. Rista, and many other characters, call him out for this, to which Seiya replies, not without reason, that while his methods may take a bit more time and dish out plenty of collateral damage, if he dies, the world will have much bigger problems on its hands. Ultimately, when given the option of increasing his chances of winning at the cost of innocent lives, Seiya will always take the moral option in the end, proving conclusively that he cares for others far more than he does for his own safety.
- Stereotype Flip: Rista expects most Japanese to be familiar with Isekai tropes due to the popularity of that genre in their country. To her surprise, Seiya isn't familiar with such tropes, as shown when he doesn't recognize a slime as the typical weak fantasy monster. Despite this, he's very creative about using his JRPG abilities.
- Stock Light-Novel Hero: A hilarious parody. Rista chooses to summon Seiya because he has some of the highest stats of any potential hero. Seiya is also a dark-haired, handsome hunk with a chiseled body and stoic persona. From the moment he appears, she lusts over him, and eventually, he gains the admiration of several other goddesses within the divine realm. However, he is The Paranoiac that won't do anything unless he is "perfectly prepared". He will spend weeks at a time doing nothing but training or working out until he has maxed out every single skill available, synthesizes the most powerful weapons as well as backups of those weapons and backups to the backups, buys hundreds of helpful items in bulk, and treats every single person he meets with complete suspicion and caution, including his own party members and Rista herself. And it's a good thing, because the villains of this world are just as savvy and prepared.
- The Stoic: He's straight-faced and collected at all times.
- Strong and Skilled: He's considered an exceptional hero due to his high stats and ability to learn new skills quickly. However, he's Weak, but Skilled compared to Gaeabrande's Demon Lord and Emperor Roseguard, since he cannot surpass their stats despite hitting the level cap, forcing him to rely on creative tactics to come out on top.
- Take a Third Option:
- In Gaeabrande, Seiya has to choose between the only weapon that can kill the Demon Lord and the life of Elulu. He chooses to save Elulu, but still kills the Demon Lord with clever use of Valhalla's Gate.
- Subverted in Ixphoria. He learns that killing Ultimaeus will result in Kiriko's death, since her soul is tied to the Demon Lord. He attempts to research a way to preserve her soul, but ultimately learns that there's no way to save her.
- Talented, but Trained: While Seiya is able to learn many skills by leveling up or seeing the skill used once, he trains under the gods so he can learn abilities he wouldn't normally have.
- Tall, Dark, and Handsome: Basically, the overall description of his appearance as provided by Ristarte at the beginning of the series; over 180 cm tall, smooth black hair, and a very good-looking face of noble features.
- There Is No Kill Like Overkill: He always blasts an enemy's corpse into oblivion with his fire magic and Atomic Split Slash, just in case they can come back From a Single Cell. Considering Ixphoria's Demon Lord defeated him by coming back to life from his upper body, Seiya has a point in doing this. In the second arc, Seiya uses his earth magic to send the enemies' corpses as close to the planet's core as possible. Fortunately, this new method is less destructive towards his surroundings.
- Time for Plan B: When faced against Crossed Thanatos, an opponent that he cannot defeat head-on, Seiya runs across the Divine Realm in order to bait it and find someone capable of killing the monster. Fortunately, Valkyrie is there. In real-life MMO video game strategy, what Seiya does is called "kiting".
- Took a Level in Badass: He learns how to use the Berserk state to boost his stats beyond a million, allowing him to match Ixphoria's demon emperors. After training in multiple elements and combat styles with the gods, he becomes strong and versatile enough to unleash a Curb-Stomp Battle on Ultimaeus.
- Took a Level in Jerkass:
- In the Ixphoria arc. After regaining his memories in Galvano, Seiya becomes far less tolerant of the Little Light's citizens' backtalk, to the point where he punches every man, woman, and child who yells at him. He also dumps Rista for letting the werewolf into the Divine Realm and has a much lower opinion of her than in the Gaeabrande arc.
- In the Warped Gaeabrande arc, he is very callous towards his allies and has no problem sacrificing them to make his quest easier, in contrast to how he refused to put any of his allies at risk in the previous arcs unless absolutely necessary. This is because he sees the people of Warped Gaeabrande as mere illusions.
- A Tragedy of Impulsiveness: When Aria summoned him to Ixphoria, Seiya tried to defeat the demon army as quickly as possible so that the people of the world won't have to suffer longer than necessary. While he has noble intentions, his lack of preparation gets him and his party killed by Ixphoria's Demon Lord.
- Tsundere: Harsh type. Despite his very difficult personality and poor treatment of others, Seiya shows he does care for Rista and his other companions at the end of the day. Rista even calls him out on it after he was ready to sacrifice himself to defeat Gaeabrande's Demon Lord without letting her or any of their friends die.
- Turn the Other Cheek: Played for laughs when Adenela almost immediately forgives Seiya for his harsh rejection of the cake she baked for him after he simply pats her head.
- Ultimate Blacksmith: In his efforts to be as prepared for any eventuality as he can, he uses his Combine skill to create weapons, armor, and magical accessories using whatever he can get his hands on, especially if the materials are high quality (the hair of Rista, a goddess, being a commonly used one). Often veers into Ultimate Blacksmith, as he has a keen eye for taking said high quality materials and making the best equipment that could ever be made out of what he has on hand at the time.
- Uniqueness Value: Seiya is viewed a rare hero, or a "one-in-ten-billion people" genius by Rista due to his overpowered stats even at Level 1.
- Unsympathetic Comedy Protagonist: While Played for Laughs, Seiya is extremely rude, insensitive to people's feelings, dismisses and insults his allies by calling next to useless, and isn't above using violence when someone annoys him even if it's a woman. It takes the revelation of why he's like this to make him truly sympathetic, with most of his traits taking on a more tragic light.
- Weapon of X-Slaying:
- He forged the Dragon Killer swords which help in slaying dragons. This is due to his suspicions of possibly having to defeat a dragon in their village. He's right, since the Great Mother of Dragons picked a fight with his party.
- He uses the Dark God's Amulets to create the Holy Power Drain Sword, or Granny Rista Sword. This allows him to drain the power of godly beings and weaken them, which is useful for when he fights Nemesiel and later Ultimaeus's divine form.
- We Have Reserves:
- Defied in the Gaeabrande arc. He refuses to bring Roseguard's troops with him to fight the undead army because he doesn't want them to risk their lives for nothing. He chews out Rosalie for sending her soldiers to their deaths in battles they have no hope of winning.
- Played straight in the Warped Gaeabrande arc. Since he doesn't think the people of the warped worlds are real and that his actions will have no consequences on the real citizens, he's willing to use them as meatshields in his battle against the Dragonewts. He tries to use the demons as meatshields too, since he thinks they'll probably do some decent damage to Mash before he wipes them out, but this plan doesn't work out because the demons betray the humans.
- What Measure Is a Non-Human?: In Warped Gaeabrande, he believes the humans here are merely illusionary versions of the real ones, and thus are expendable.
- When He Smiles: Before dying, he finally gives a heartfelt smile upon realizing that Rista is the reincarnation of his lover from a previous life and he got to see her one last time.
- Willfully Weak: One of, if not the first ability he learns is one that hides his true level and stats, which he keeps a secret even from Rista. It's only against Chaos Machina that he finally reveals his true strength.
- Wistful Amnesia: He doesn't remember his journey in Ixphoria, but he still feels subconscious regret over failing to save that world, which is why he became overly cautious.
- Would Hit a Girl:
- He throws Rista at a wall head-first hard enough for her to bounce to quickly get her off of him after landing on top of him due to their hasty retreat to the Divine Realm so he can immediately start working out some more, and conks her over the head when she's about to teleport him directly to Edona for his rematch with Chaos Machina, insisting on being teleported further out instead.
- He slaps Princess Rosalie when she insists on marching herself and her army into a hopeless battle with flying insectoid demons. He slaps her again when she refuses to reconcile with her father, who went through a Death Equals Redemption situation.
Ristarte
Voiced by: Aki Toyosaki (Japanese), Jamie Marchi (English), Tia Ballard (as Tiana, English)

A rookie goddess of healing, who is tasked with saving Gaeabrande.
- A-Cup Angst: A minor case. She knows she's hardly flat, but she feels that way compared to Ariadoa.
- Affectionate Nickname: Everyone just calls her "Rista", for short.
- Aren't You Going to Ravish Me?:
- When Seiya states that he has one condition before helping Rista, he takes his off his shirt. Rista imagines herself in bed and having a romantic encounter with Seiya while very quietly stating how a god and a human can't have a relationship. She then gets annoyed when it turns out the request is for him to work out until he's ready.
- When she finds out that Seiya snuck into her room to take 100 of her hairs to craft another powerful sword, she demands to know if he did "this and that" to her while she was asleep. When he makes it clear that he didn't, she becomes upset.
- Biting the Handkerchief: Rista does this after Seiya leaves her in the Roseguard castle to rest, thinking that she's inferior to medicinal herbs.
- Blatant Lies: Annoyed at a tailor's sarcastic tone and ridiculous swimsuit offers, Rista, without hesitation, tells her that Seiya is her boyfriend. That's not currently correct though, as romantic relationships are a taboo in the Divine Realm. This is subverted once you realize that Rista is the reincarnation of Seiya's lover.
- Boring, but Practical: Her healing magic is slower than high-tier medicinal herbs, but herbs can't re-attach lost limbs while she can do so, even with her powers weakened.
- Butt-Monkey: Seiya compares her to a medicinal herb and due to her power being nerfed in the mortal realms, she actually does end up less powerful than the strongest healing items. Seiya also tends to remove her hair without permission in order to use it as a crafting ingredient, push her around, mouth off to her, and so on, although he genuinely cares about her survival.
- Cassandra Truth: In the Warped Gaeabrande arc, Rista is the only one who can see an evil version of Elulu influencing Mash. She also has a dream where Elulu warns her that Seiya's current method of simply killing Mash isn't going to save the world. Unfortunately, due to Rista being wrong many times in the past, Seiya doesn't believe her until she manages to take him into Mash's mind, where the original Mash and Elulu confirm Rista's account.
- Chekhov's Gunman: It's revealed that if a hero dies while trying to save a world, they'll simply return where they came from without any memories of their time in that world. This sets up a major reveal later.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: She gets jealous when she catches Seiya in bed with Valkyrie, not realizing that this is a way for the Valkyrie to teach Seiya how to use Valhalla's Gate.
- Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: Almost everything that Seiya does weird will be rejected or rebutted by her:
- Seiya has a weird habit or Running Gag of wanting spares for his weapons and equipment. She's there to make sure that they don't spend too much money.
- Due to being overly cautious, Seiya is mostly stoic and doesn't easily trust strangers. This makes him forget how to converse politely. Rista is there to scold him for his rudeness or to ask their inquiries in a more polite manner in his behalf.
- When Seiya repeatedly slaps Rosalie (in self-defense), Rista decries his lack of "feminism". Once they return to the Divine Realm, she tells him to stop doing that.
- Covert Pervert: She may try to keep up the appearance of a respectable goddess, but it's blatantly clear she wants to jump Seiya despite the rules.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Despite going through a number of frustrating and humiliating situations, her healing is actually very powerful when she's not limited by the gods' rules. After Seiya's first use of Valhalla's Gate, Rista manages to heal him so he can survive the backlash. Keep in mind that Valkyrie had to buff herself to max stats in order to survive the recoil of that technique. In the Ixphoria arc, she turns out to be an Instant Expert at anti-curse techniques and kills one of the enemy generals with a light spell. Even when weakened due to the gods' rules, she can heal severed limbs.
- Deity of Human Origin: Like Cerceus, Rista was originally a human who was reborn as a goddess after her death because of her good deeds.
- Distracted by the Sexy: Seiya drives her mad with his personality, but she can't help but get hot and bothered when he is shirtless or when she's close to him.
- Double Entendre: Says this innuendo after a tailor offered her to buy underwear that would expose the crotch of her "boyfriend" Seiya:If Seiya wears this, his elephant will be fully visible.
- Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: After she sees Seiya and Valkyrie naked in bed, which makes him learn a Destruction Art skill, she becomes overly jealous, desperate and shocked, to the point that her eyes are drawn in this way.
- Eaten Alive: Her fate at the end of her failed quest to save Ixphoria, courtesy of Ultimaeus, the Demon Lord. She also endured the horror of having Kiriko ripped out of her before being eaten.
- Eating the Eye Candy: Most of her first impressions with Seiya are about being stunned with his appearance or muscular build. In particular, Rista barged in the room without knocking, only to catch sight of his six-pack abs.
- Establishing Character Moment: The very first scene of the anime sees her assigned to save the S-rank world Gaeabrande, and she accepts the task with humility and grace worthy of a goddess in front of the assembled deities. This is immediately followed by her running into her room to vent in a much more human fashion. We will see this duality very often throughout the series, with Rista trying to put on the airs of a proper goddess, while Seiya keeps bringing out her more human side.
- Experienced Protagonist: She managed to save a few worlds before receiving the mission to save Gaeabrande. Some of her summoned heroes were unfamiliar with Isekai and JRPG mechanics, but she still managed to teach them enough to save those worlds. However, it's downplayed since Rista is still quite young for a goddess and has saved very few worlds of low difficulty, which is why she felt unprepared for taking on the huge task of saving a S-rank world which is difficult even for veteran gods.
- Freudian Slip:
- Rista just can't resist blurting out her perverted thoughts about Seiya even in a state of emergency, when Aria feared that Mitis might sexually harass him:I can't let this one-in-ten-billion-people level genius get kicked out because he got in bed with a goddess!! If it has to be a goddess, why not me... Wait, that's not what I wanted to say!
- Rista accidentally blurted out that the Divine Realm's shops are better than the clothing shop in Gaeabrande. This annoys the female shopkeeper to the point where she sarcastically mocks Rista by offering her ridiculous swimwear that are too risqué.
- Rista just can't resist blurting out her perverted thoughts about Seiya even in a state of emergency, when Aria feared that Mitis might sexually harass him:
- Gold and White Are Divine: Rista is a Healer God with long blonde hair and clad in a white dress with gold accessories.
- Good Wears White: She's a benevolent goddess and the main heroine, always dressed in a white dress.
- Gratuitous English: In the Japanese version, she says "Oh, six pack!" in a stunned state when she sees Seiya's abs and "Oh, sexy!" when Seiya comes out from the shower.
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: A very kind, good-natured and beautiful goddess with long blonde hair.
- Has a Type: She likes tall, muscle toned men with dark hair. Seiya fits this to a T. The reason why is because she subconsciously remembers that he was her lover in her previous life.
- Healer God: Rista is the Goddess of Healing and her main function in Seiya's party is using her Healing Hands whenever someone gets hurt. However, her divine power is highly restrained outside of the Divine Realm, so Seiya makes fun of her by saying she isn't any more useful than a medical herb.
- Heroic BSoD: She becomes depressed after Seiya's supposed death from saving Gaeabrande, to the point where she lacks her usual cheerful personality once she returns to the Divine Realm, as she locks herself in her room for days, and leaves her hair in a messy state. Fortunately, all of the other deities try to raise her spirits once again. She finally breaks out of her depression once Ishtar reveals that Seiya is still alive, he's just sent back to Earth and can be summoned once again.
- Hero-Worshipper:
- She describes Aria as the ideal goddess and regularly visits her for advice.
- To a lesser extent, she gains more faith in Seiya when his preparations allow him to defeat several impossibly difficult foes.
- Hot God: She's pretty cute and buxom, with her outfit leaving little to the imagination. When she first summons Seiya, she muses that he has never seen so perfect a woman among mortals.
- Imagine Spot: She easily fell for Seiya's looks, and also easily misinterprets his requests as romantic advances. Cue some of Rista's imaginations about having to kiss him... until she remembers that romance between gods and mortals are forbidden.
- Immortals Fear Death: Gods like Rista are immortal thanks to their soul being secured in a room at the Divine Realm. When Wohlks Roseguard is revealed to have a weapon from the Demon Lord that can kill a god's body and soul, she cries in terror of dying for real and calls for Seiya to save her.
- Innocently Insensitive:
- Rista points out that Aria only failed to save one world, but Aria reminds her that the world is all its residents have.
- When Rista tries to convince Seiya to recruit the dragonkin duo, he states they wouldn't be much help in combat. Rista then states that they can be used as key items to get past any obstacle that requires their lineage, but the duo are offended to be considered "items."
- Irony: Rista often complains about the way Seiya spends too much time training and tells him he could try leveling up by fighting strong monsters instead of avoiding danger. In her past life as Tiana, she instead wanted Seiya to train more because he always recklessly charged at dangerous monsters and got badly hurt, only surviving thanks to Tiana healing him.
- Jerkass Gods: Downplayed. While genuinely well-intentioned, she's fairly arrogant as she frequently gets irritated at Seiya for refusing to treat her as a goddess. She's also somewhat impulsive and overconfident, decrying Seiya's careful tactics, even after they prove themselves to be invaluable in the Death World that is Gaeabrande. Unfortunately for her, Seiya's having none of it, and Rista's the one who usually ends up humbled by him instead of the other way around.
- Lovable Sex Maniac: Her perverted thoughts about Seiya rise to its peak once she decides to buy a swimsuit for Seiya that will expose his crotch.
- Love at First Sight: She's instantly smitten with Seiya from the moment she first lays her eyes on him because of how handsome he is, but she has to remind herself that goddesses aren't allowed to have romantic relationships with humans. Her immediate strong attraction is also influenced by the fact that she was married to him in her previous life.
- Meaningful Name: Her name echoes Astarte, an ancient Semitic goddess of sexuality and war, which is fitting for a fantasy goddess who assists heroes and incidentally lusts for them. It also sounds an awful lot like "restart", which is equally fitting, since that's basically what happened to her when she lost her memories and became a goddess.
- Meta Girl: Most of her Inner Monologue comments on the absurd tactics or tropes that Seiya used recently.
- Ms. Fanservice: She's this thanks to her outfit showing her cleavage.
- Mundane Utility: She makes a doll out of her hair just so she can give it to Seiya as a synthesis material.
- New Meat: She's only saved a few low-difficulty worlds, and is considered inexperienced for a goddess.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!:
- When attempting to change the location of the portal in the Divine Realm, she accidentally allows a werewolf demon to go through the portal. The werewolf then inflicts an amnesia ailment on Seiya, causing the hero to regress back to his reckless ways. When Seiya regains his memories, he remains angry towards Rista for a while.
- While under her fish beastkin guise, Rista accidentally leads Grandleon to see Queen Carmilla's doll. This leads to Grandleon destroying the doll and making the queen cry, which satisfies his conditions for executing her. Seiya has to cancel the Hexagram Ritual of Divine Retribution and risk a straight fight with Grandleon in order to save the queen.
- Noodle Incident: She mentions that she once summoned a Martian as a hero for a low difficulty world and had to get them up to speed with the situation.
- Odd Job Gods: The Goddess of Healing, which doesn't sound too bad. Unfortunately, when repressed, her power is quite weak and she's still seen as a junior goddess.
- Pervert Revenge Mode: Every time Jonde tries to oogle Mega Rista, the real Rista reacts violently, to the point of trying to twist his neck.
- The Pig-Pen: Downplayed. Other characters often claim she has a sour body odor, and she's advised to bathe more often. This actually saves her in the Ixphoria arc, where a demon refuses to eat her because of her odor.
- Proper Lady: She tries really hard to behave like a goddess should, staying calm and dignified. Except, Seiya's overcautious nature frustrates her so much that she loses her temper and uses crass language unbefitting of a goddess.
- Psychometry: Normally, her Appraisal skill only allows her to see some minor information about objects and people. While in her Demon Goddess form, her Appraisal allows her to read the thoughts of the people associated with the target object.
- Punny Name: If it isn't obvious enough, "Ristarte" is just the Engrish pronunciation of the word "Restart", probably chosen by it sounding similar to real life Semitic goddess Astarte.
- Reincarnation: She's the reincarnation of Princess Tiana, Seiya's lover from Ixphoria.
- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: After learning of Seiya's and her past, she willingly disobeys the Divine Realm's rules to save Seiya.
- Self-Proclaimed Love Interest: She readily claims that Seiya is her boyfriend when asked, even though Seiya would definitely disagree. It's probably a reflex caused by her subconsciously remembering that Seiya was her husband in her previous life.
- Sexy Backless Outfit: Her dress leaves her back bare.
- Showgirl Skirt: She wears a crescent-shaped skirt that fully reveals the front of her legs.
- Signature Headgear: She always wears a blue hair bow. The fact that Tiana had a similar bow is a giveaway that Rista is her reincarnation.
- Slapstick: When some silly screwball moment happens, she's often on the receiving end of it.
- Straight Man: She's the one to react at and call out the absurdity of pretty much everything about Seiya.
- Stripperiffic: Her outfit is very revealing, which Seiya lampshades early on. Rista protests that her magic lets other people see her dressed more modestly.
- Supporting Protagonist: She's the main viewpoint character, but due to laws restricting the gods in mortal realms, her summoned hero, Seiya, drives more of the plot.
- Tears of Joy: This is her reaction when she finds out she's allowed to summon Seiya again after Zenos is slain, as she feared Seiya had ended up Deader than Dead due to it.
- Tempting Fate: In the first manga volume's short story, Rista is angered by an archangel who criticized her lack of progress. In response, she yells "I'll take any A- or S-ranked world you throw at me!" She soon gets assigned to the S-ranked world, Gaeabrande.
- Traumatic C-Section: In her previous life as Tiana, Ultimaeus ripped Kiriko from her womb and ate her right in front of Seiya.
- Tsundere: Sweet type; she's nice and kind to everyone except Seiya. She has a crush on Seiya, but at the same time, is exasperated by his cautious personality and rude behavior.
- Underestimating Badassery:
- Her first impression of Seiya was the result of this. Rista thought that he was a coward when he was just being cautious. When she thought that he is backing away from saving Edona, he just needed some time to level-grind. And when she thought that he couldn't take out Chaos Machina's bull form in his current state, it was when she realized that Seiya was just faking his real, higher stats.
- She initially believes the tactics she used in low difficulty worlds, such as level grinding in a weak area, will work against the demons of Gaeabrande and that Seiya's cautiousness is overkill. She's proven wrong when the demons of Gaeabrande turn out to be wise to the tactics that defeated their brethren in other worlds.
- Unishment: For the "crime" of using her goddess abilities to directly interfere with the final battle between Seiya and Gaeabrande's Demon Lord, Rista is sentenced to save the SS-ranked world Ixphoria, her original homeworld as a mortal. In addition, she is told that since Zenos' Chain Destruction was destroyed in the final battle, she is free to summon Seiya once again to aid her.
- Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Seiya wonders how the people of Gaeabrande don't react to Rista's "exhibitionist's clothing". Rista explains that she uses her powers to make it look like she's wearing normal clothes to regular people.
- Vapor Wear: It's quite obvious from a glance that her outfit doesn't have any form of breast support beyond her top. This becomes a detriment when she ends up getting dragged along by Seiya at high speeds in order to quickly get somewhere, resulting in her breasts popping out.
- Victoria's Secret Compartment: She places a piece of chalk for summoning circles there in the anime.
- What the Hell, Hero?: She regularly criticizes Seiya for his actions because they are not becoming of a proper hero. These include, but are not limited to: Telling people they're useless, burning down/exploding buildings to make absolutely sure a given enemy is dead, barging into bedrooms without as much as a knock and taking things without asking.
- White Magician Girl: Downplayed. She specializes in healing and usually means well, but she can also be petty when arguing with Seiya. There's a justification for this as well. Before she became the Goddess of Healing, she was the healer in Seiya's party back in Ixphoria.
- Wild Take: Rista's exaggerated facial expressions qualify.
- Winged Humanoid: Being a goddess, Rista can sprout angel wings from her back by asking Ishtar's authorization.
- You Don't Look Like You: Her past life as Tiana has a remarkably different design between the original light novel
and the anime
. In the light novel, her design is akin to a cross between a cleric and a Princess Classic, with little actual resemblance to Rista. The anime, however, has her as a flat out Palette Swap, looking like Rista with shorter brunette hair, and wearing a simple dress, even sporting a bow just like Rista's.
Other Deities
Ariadoa
Voiced by: Hibiku Yamamura (Japanese), Marissa Lenti (English)

The Goddess of Sealing, who saved over three hundred worlds.
- The Ace: She's one of the most experienced goddesses, as shown by her track record of saving hundreds of worlds. Even Valkyrie, who looks down on most other deities, respects her. Her experience is shown when she advises Seiya to take advantage of the Divine Realm to train under other deities and when she figures out how to make Mash and Elulu stronger.
- Buxom Beauty Standard: One of the first things we learn about her, courtesy of Rista bringing attention to it, is that she has G-cup sized breasts, which Rista expresses some envy towards.
- Cool Big Sis: She has this dynamic with Rista as she's very kind and protective of her. This is ultimately a trait carried over from when Aria first summoned Seiya, as Rista's past life as Princess Tiana was to Aria what Elulu is to Rista. Tiana's death was particularly painful for Aria, so she became protective of Rista once she became a goddess.
- Foreshadowing: There are some suspicious stuff that hints Aria's connection to Seiya:
- Aria spills the tea she's holding, as if she is very surprised to see Seiya face-to-face again.
- She speaks in a very casual tone to Seiya and addresses him on a first name basis when she interrupts the ruckus between him and Valkyrie. Of course, Seiya is curious and wary about this casualness since they haven't met yet. He's wrong though, as they have already met before.
- Rista wonders why Aria can be calm about any situation regarding Seiya and seemingly knows about him more when in fact, the former has been with him for longer. Aria panics briefly, stating that it's because Rista tells stories about him a lot. What Rista doesn't know is that Aria is the first goddess who summoned Seiya before she did.
- She seems too emotional whenever Rista talks about Seiya, as if she's trying to distance herself from him. A Wham Shot even shows Aria crying when she realized that Seiya went to face the Demon Lord of Gaeabrande by himself. This is due to regret, or a fear that Seiya might die again.
- Hot God: She's an attractive lady with bigger breasts than Rista.
- Ignored Expert: She advised Seiya to visit a faraway village to gather information on Ixphoria's Demon Lord. In his haste, Seiya had the party go straight to the Demon Lord, resulting in their demise when they're unprepared for the enemy's self-revival skill.
- Mentor Archetype: She teaches Elulu some Status Buff abilities, and helps Mash in unlocking his dragon form.
- A Million Is a Statistic: Defied. Aria is ashamed of failing to save a single world, since that world is all the residents had, and now they're doomed to suffering under the rule of the Demon Lord.
- Mundane Utility: Her power over seals can be used to unlock doors.
- My Greatest Failure: Her failure to save the B-ranked world of Ixphoria weighs heavily on her. She tries to talk Ishtar into sending her back during Rista's sentencing in the latter's place, but is denied the opportunity.
- My Greatest Second Chance: Her efforts to assist Seiya and Rista can be seen as this, since Seiya was the hero she originally summoned to Ixphoria, while Rista is the reincarnation of one of her companions from that world.
- Sexy Backless Outfit: Her dress exposes her entire back.
- Swallowed Whole: She was eaten by Ultimaeus after he revived himself.
Ishtar
Voiced by: Keiko Han (Japanese), Jessica Cavanagh (English)

The Great Goddess in charge of all the others.
- Big Beautiful Woman: She looks a lot like the standard sweet granny and is rather chubby as a result, but she is still considered beautiful, and her curves ultimately add to her charm.
- Big Good: She's the leader of the gods and gives them the information they need to save various worlds.
- Cool Old Lady: Her physical appearance looks a good deal more elderly than the other gods, and she's one of the kindest and wisest people amoung the whole cast.
- Elderly Immortal: She looks visibly older than the other goddesses.
- Killed Offscreen: Mersias's faction kills her to prevent her from warning the other deities with her precognition.
- Ms. Exposition: Ishtar narrates Seiya's true personality to Rista, Mash and Elulu, that he doesn't want to see his allies die, and why he pushes people away so that they wouldn't join him in battle, she later reveals his backstory in Ixphoria via a flashback sequence.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!: She admits telling Seiya a certain piece of information contributed to his Heroic BSoD. The information being that Kiriko is his daughter and that her life is tied to Ultimaeus.
- Not So Above It All: She openly suggests to Rista that the latter should take a bath, as she bluntly tells her that she smells like vinegar. This is right after Seiya mocked Rista's body odor.
- The Omniscient: She's aware of everything that occurs in every world, and is described as all-knowing. However, she can't predict her own future.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: She's willing to push the limits of the gods' non-interference rules so that Rista and Seiya can save Gaeabrande. When Rista breaks the rules by using her full healing powers to help Seiya, Ishtar takes into consideration that she did succeed in her mission. Instead of taking away Rista's godhood, Ishtar orders her to save Ixphoria without using her healing powers, but also allows Seiya to be summoned again. Additionally, she wasn't the one who set the healing restriction on Rista, and later petitions the three highest ranking gods to lift that restriction, due to how Ixphoria's demons have Chain Destruction.
- Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: Her name is taken from the Babylonian Goddess of fertility, love, storms, and war (which, oddly enough, was equivalent to Astarte, the goddess Ristarte is inspired on). She shares little in terms of personality with that of Ishtar though, behaving more like a kindly grandmother.
- Sink-or-Swim Mentor: The first volume of the manga has an easily missed short story on the back cover explaining that Ishtar is the one who assigned Rista to Gaeabrande. Nominally, her reason is to motivate Rista, who became complacent after saving five worlds. While explaining her reasons, Ishtar glances over at a list of summonable heroes, implying that she chose Gaeabrande knowing that Rista would summon Seiya.
- Top God: Subverted. She's the leader of all the deities in the Divine Realm and is considered the highest ranking one, but Valkyrie is the strongest in terms of combat ability. Later, it turns out she ranks lower than Brahma, Nemesil, and Chronoa.
Cerceus
Voiced by: Atsushi Ono (Japanese), Chris Rager (English)

A god known as the Divine Blade.
- Break the Badass: Despite being a Master Swordsman, constantly training and losing against Seiya causes him to become traumatized to the point of hating swords. It takes meeting Mash and taking him on as a disciple for him to regain his confidence.
- Butt-Monkey:
- When he's introduced, he goes from confident to traumatized because of Seiya's harsh training, causing him to abandon the sword. When he becomes a baker and opens a cafe, no one is shown appreciating his new trade and at one point, his cake gets destroyed during Crossed Thanatos's attack on the Divine Realm.
- In the Ixphoria arc, he befriends Jonde and Kiriko, but when he trains them, he finds that they're already stronger than him to begin with.
- In the Twisted Gaeabrande arc, he reveals that he doesn't know how to open a portal to the Divine Realm. Even Rista, a fellow example of this, looks down on him for not having this basic skill.
- Chekhov's Gunman: Because of him, it's revealed that some gods were once humans that ascended and lost their memories of their mortal lives. This sets up The Reveal later on.
- Covert Pervert: In the Warped Gaeabrande arc, he shows interest in being dominated by Chaos Machina and begs to be her slave.
- Crippling Overspecialization: Downplayed. He can do things aside from swordplay like baking, but in terms of god duties, he's largely only capable of training others in swordplay. It's bad enough that he can't even open up portals to the Divine Realm, something even Rista can do despite being a relatively new goddess.
- Deity of Human Origin: According to Ishtar, Cerceus is a human reincarnated as a god. He went through some kind of trauma in his past life, which explains why he lost his confidence after training Seiya.
- Heroic Second Wind: Played with. He instantly regains his pre-Seiya personality after he scans Mash when being requested to be his instructor.
- In Touch with His Feminine Side: After his Break the Badass moment from being forced to train with Seiya, he takes up baking and wears flowery aprons while doing so. Even after regaining his confidence after training Mash, he keeps his baking hobby and isn't afraid to openly show his emotions more often.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Rista notes that it's scummy of him to only get his motivation back when the next person to be trained by him, Mash, is far weaker than him. That said, he's still willing to take the time to help the protagonists, even when it means training Seiya to surpass him again in the Ixphoria arc. He also gives Rista a cake to console her when she's grieving over Seiya's sacrifice. When Seiya orders him to look after Jonde and Kiriko, Cerceus is initially reluctant, but grows to appreciate the two.
- Master Swordsman: He's the god who's an expert in swordsmanship. That is, until Cerceus got traumatized after Seiya turned out to be stronger than him. And then, it turns out even Adenela is better than him.
- Mentor Archetype: Was one of Seiya's first mentors and sparring partner among the gods and goddesses. Cerceus later became the mentor to help Mash level up early on.
- Mr. Exposition: He's the one who tells Rista, Mash, and Elulu exactly what Adenela has been up to ever since Seiya rejected her. His terrified reaction is enough to tell Rista that something is seriously wrong.
- Noodle Incident: According to Ishtar, when he was still human, something heavily traumatized him to the point of it being ingrained in his soul. So despite being reborn as a god with no memory of his human life, the trauma still exists within him, he just doesn't know the reason as to why. Unfortunately for him, Seiya's Training from Hell drudged it up again.
- Red Baron: The Divine Blade.
- Supreme Chef: Following his experiences with Seiya, he decided to take up baking as a hobby in order to be as far from swords as possible. Going by the cake we see, he actually got pretty good, even if none of Seiya's party wanted it.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: In the Warped Gaeabrande arc, when Seiya is reset and needs to train again, Cerceus uses his new Demon God form to beat the crap out of Seiya and clearly enjoys getting revenge on the hero, at least until Seiya levels up and starts beating the crap out of him. He also attempts to sell out to the demons when it looks like they have an advantage, only to be refused because he's too weak.
- Training from Hell: His training was supposed to be this for Seiya, but the latter insisted on continuing the training despite surpassing his teacher, turning the hell back on Cerceus.
- Worf Had the Flu: Deities aren't allowed to use their full power against humans, even when training. As a result, Seiya surpasses him in a matter of days.
Hestiaca
Voiced by: Sayumi Watabe (Japanese), Kimberly Grace (English)

The Goddess of Fire.
- Brutal Honesty: She doesn't mince words when explaining to Rista that Elulu has no potential for Fire Magic whatsoever.
- Curtains Match the Window: Red hair to match her red eyes.
- Elemental Hair Colors: It's only fitting for a goddess of fire to have red hair.
- Flat Character: She's only introduced to try and help Elulu with fire magic. As such, Hestiaca has a minimal amount of screentime compared to the other named deities since she doesn't personally train Seiya in any way, and her training with Elulu is short-lived.
- God of Fire: She is a fire goddess.
- Mentor Archetype: She tries to teach Elulu fire magic, but this doesn't last long because it turns out Elulu doesn't have much aptitude for this type of magic.
- Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: She's named after Hestia, the Greek Goddess of the Hearth.
Valkyrie
Voiced by: Fairouz Ai (Japanese), Katelyn Barr (English)

The Goddess of Destruction.
- Always Someone Better: Valkyrie is one of the few gods Seiya suppresses his usual blunt personality with because she is far stronger than him. Even when Seiya’s stats are boosted by Phase 2 of the Berserker State, his highest stats are still less than a tenth of Valkyrie’s in the same category.
- Ambiguously Bi: She shows an interest in grabbing the breasts of other goddesses, but she is also found naked in bed with Seiya, stating how much of a man he is.
- Baritone of Strength: The most powerful goddess with the power of absolute destruction has the deepest voice out of any goddess, of course.
- Boyish Short Hair: Her short hair reflects her tough and tomboyish personality.
- Cast from Hit Points: Valhalla's Gate's backlash is so great that the user needs maxed out health or powerful healing just to survive the usage of the technique.
- Chained by Fashion: As opposed to the gowns that the other goddesses wear, Valkyrie wears chains in a way similar to a sarashi.
- Combat Sadomasochist: When the backlash of Valhalla's Gate leaves her in a puddle of her own blood, she enjoys the pain.
- Dangerous Forbidden Technique: Valhalla's Gate traps an enemy in a gate that is supposed to completely destroy them. The backlash is so great that she needs to have maxed out stats in order to survive, though powerful enough healing magic also works. It's possible to summon another gate in case the enemy survives the first one, but the strain on the user is so immense their body practically shatters apart and even Rista's healing magic at full power isn't enough to save them.
- Destroyer Deity: Her title is the "Goddess of Destruction", and she is known as the god most dangerous in combat. Valhalla's Gate is, in fact, so destructive, that even she isn't safe from it.
- Everyone Has Standards: She's disturbed when Rista shows that she made a doll of her own hair for Seiya. However, Valkyrie doesn't know that Seiya is able to use Rista's hair as synthesis ingredients.
- Facepalm of Doom: Her Shattered Break skill involves crushing her opponent's head. It doesn't work on Crossed Thanatos.
- Godzilla Threshold: Crossed Thanatos is such a rare threat due to being a Nigh-Invulnerable foe, that Valkyrie requests Ishtar to max her stats just so that she can use Valhalla's Gate.
- Hidden Depths: It turns out she enjoys drawing, and at one point, is seen making an oil painting of the Divine Realm.
- Hot God: She's more tomboyish than the other goddesses, but she's still an attractive woman in a stripperiffic outfit.
- Iron Maiden: Her Valhalla's Gate skill is basically this. It's a creepy, towering mechanical torture device that can trap the target inside.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's normally a prime example of a Jerkass God, since she often threatens deities and heroes that annoy her and has a habit of groping her female colleagues. However, Valkyrie does gain enough respect for Seiya to teach him Valhalla's Gate and is touched by his determination to save Gaeabrande. She also tells Rista that she'd like to paint her picture someday after Gaeabrande's Demon Lord is defeated.
- Mentor Archetype: She teaches Seiya Valhalla's Gate.
- Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: Her name, and the name of her iconic skill, Valhalla's Gate, are based from Norse mythology terms.
- Required Secondary Powers: Valhalla's Gate takes a major physical toll on the user, which is why she requests a buff from Ishtar that maxes all her stats to 9999999 and her HP at 99999999, allowing her to survive the backlash.
- Stripperiffic: Her outfit exposes a lot of skin, which is one of the reasons why Seiya calls her an "exhibitionist".
- Summon Bigger Fish: Seiya utilizes this after he, along with many other gods and goddesses, are unable to defeat Crossed Thanatos, who followed them into the Divine Realm. He gets Valkyrie involved not by asking nicely, since he figured she wouldn't, but by dodging an attack by Crossed Thanatos, which hits and destroys the painting Valkyrie was working on at the moment. Despite this, even Valkyrie is forced to use a Dangerous Forbidden Technique which also deals massive damage to herself and would've been fatal had a human used it.
- Terrible Artist: She's not very good at drawing despite her interest in it. We see a painting of Aria in her room in Episode 9... at least, what appears to be Aria.
- Tomboyish Voice: She has a raspy voice to go along with her masculine manner of speech and behavior.
- Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Her bed scene with Seiya reveals that for all her masculine traits, she sports toenail polish, the classical girly coral color for good measure.
- Too Kinky to Torture: After utilizing her Limit Break attack that was also Cast from Lifespan to defeat Crossed Thanatos, Valkyrie starts spurting blood all over her body. Rista is more creeped out that Valkyrie mentioned she could get used to this pain, than the fact that she was spraying blood all over the place.
- World's Strongest Woman: She's the strongest deity in terms of combat.
Adenela
Voiced by: Shiori Izawa (Japanese), Alexis Tipton (English)

The Goddess of War.
- Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Headpats are all it takes for Seiya to calm Adenela back when she was just going berserk earlier.
- All Amazons Want Hercules: According to the third manga volume's short story, she took interest in Seiya after hearing rumors that he defeated Cerceus.
- Battle Aura: Her body is engulfed with a dark-red burning aura when she is about to kill Seiya for rejecting her.
- Beautiful All Along: After she falls head over heels for Seiya, she briefly drops the dark and gloomy look to appear more attractive to him. All it takes is brushing her hair and wearing a dress that isn't coming apart at the seams for her to look stunning.
- Big Damn Heroes: She saves Seiya and Rista when they're about to be killed by a werewolf that invaded the Divine Realm.
- Creepy Basement: Her room is themed after one; it's dimly lit by a skull-shaped lamp giving off a sallow green light.
- Creepy Good: Messy hair, lives in the dark, creepy smile and keeps laughing at random times, but she is still a heroic goddess.
- Creepy Loner Girl: She's a dark, isolated and gloomy girl with messy hair and ragged black clothes. She spends most of her time locked inside her room that looks like a Creepy Basement.
- Creepy Shadowed Undereyes: Her eyelids have a darker pigmentation underneath.
- Crush Blush: Evident after her first training session with Seiya. Everytime she or others mention his name, she blushes and gets a far-off look in her eyes.
- Expressive Hair: The curls in her hair twist into hearts when she forgives Seiya, and do so again to a lesser extent when she sees Seiya again when he's running away from Crossed Thanatos.
- Flash Step: She can move short distances in the blink of an eye, as demonstrated when the protagonists first met her. Only Seiya is able to track her movements.
- The Glomp: Throws herself to Seiya and hugs him just before his group is about to leave.
- Laughing Mad: She tends to randomly giggle while speaking. She drops it in lovey-dovey mode though.
- Legacy Character: During the Ixphoria arc, it's revealed that she's actually the second Goddess of War. The previous goddess, Zet, was imprisoned within a well after she attempted to rebel against the Divine Realm.
- Looks Like Cesare: Much more attractive than the usual example, but otherwise hits all the hallmarks.
- Master Swordswoman: She's better at swordplay and martial arts in general than Cerceus, to the point of knowing a sword skill that unleashes near-simultaneous slashes in multiple directions.
- Messy Hair: Typically, her hair is matted and disheveled, with two strands even resembling horns, but she fixes it up (along with the rest of her appearance) after gaining feelings for Seiya.
- Nightmare Face: Likes to pull these off in her Woman Scorned mode. Variants include the Ghostly Gape, Glowing Eyes of Doom, and the Slasher Smile.
- Pet the Dog: She tries to console Rista after Seiya sacrifices himself to kill Gaeabrande's Demon Lord.
- Room Full of Crazy: Her room is filled with the word "kill" after Seiya rejected her and her cake.
- Sexy Mentor: She's one of the deities whom Seiya trained with in order to learn a new ability and she develops a big crush on him after only three training sessions. She doesn't fit into the "sexy" part because of her unflattering way of dressing at first, but she tries to make herself prettier for Seiya only for him to reject her.
- She Cleans Up Nicely: She normally looks unkempt until she decides to brush her hair and wear proper clothes to look good in front of Seiya. It doesn't last long, though.
- Shifting Voice of Madness: Her voice is normally quite deep and breathy, but it'll switch to a squeaky high once she's in lovey-dovey mode.
- Simultaneous Blade Spam: Her signature Eternal Sword technique, which requires abnormal limb rotation beyond a normal human's ability.
- Speech Impediment: She stutters a lot.
- Tears of Blood: Played for Laughs when she cries blood after being rejected by Seiya.
- Thinks Like a Romance Novel: According to the short story at the end of the third manga volume, she reads a romance comic about a swordsman falling in love, which explains her affection for Seiya.
- Through His Stomach: She bakes a cake for Seiya as a sign of affection, only for Seiya to call it gross without even trying it.
- Token Mini-Moe: She's short and flat-chested, unlike the other tall, busty goddesses in the Divine Realm.
- War Goddess: Her title is "goddess of war", which, in her case, appears to mean melee combat with swords.
- Woman Scorned: Subverted. When Seiya rejects her, she vents her anger on a nearby statue. The next time they meet, she's about to attack him with her sword, but he caresses her hair, causing her to instantly forgive him. Aria also claims that Adenela doesn't really have it in her to kill Seiya.
- The Worf Effect: She's unable to damage Crossed Thanatos, who is immune to most attacks. You know Crossed Thanatos is the real deal when the "Goddess of War" can't hurt them.
Rasti
A goddess of shape-shifting.- Break the Haughty: She becomes depressed when Seiya masters shape-shifting quickly, including her ultimate technique: the ability to make other people transform.
- Jerkass Gods: She looks down on Rista for being a novice goddess and laughs at her when she trains to impersonate a fish beastkin. That said, she does eventually praise Rista for mastering the role, albeit in a backhanded way.
- Mundane Utility: She transforms into a cyclops in order to reach the upper part of a bookshelf.
- Underestimating Badassery: She tells Seiya not to underestimate the time needed to master shape-shifting, only to be surprised when he masters it in mere hours.
- Voluntary Shapeshifting: She can change her form to that of other beings, but only those she has seen before. This shape-shifting also doesn't affect the user's status and abilities.
Boros
The god of earth, who has a strange rule about never interacting with others at night.- Adaptation Deviation: Boros is a replacement for Mariya from the web novel version, who is a trans woman with the same role of teaching Seiya earth magic. Other than their mentor role, their motivations and personalities are different.
- Defeat Means Friendship: When Seiya discovers his hair growth, Boros tries to trap Seiya and Rista in his garden to keep his secret from leaking out. After his defeat, Boros decides to stop hiding his hair growth and accent. He's also thankful towards Seiya for lifting the burden of hiding this secret off his shoulders.
- Dishing Out Dirt: He specializes in earth magic, has maximum earth resistance, and can create golems.
- Pretty Boy: Rista considers him handsome and dapper but he drops this trope after his defeat, since he allows his hair to grow out.
Baldr
The goddess of wealth, who teaches Rista how to lift curses.- Con Artist: Downplayed. While she does overcharge for her lessons and divine artifacts, their effect on Rista is real, as indicated by Aria sensing more divine power from the novice goddess.
- Greed: She is obsessed with accumulating material wealth and charges ridiculous amounts of Goddon to teach Rista anti-curse techniques.
- Light Is Good: Her anti-curse abilities are considered light attribute and she's one of the deities of the Divine Realm. However, she's not exactly an upstanding deity, since she's greedy and charges Rista 29000 Goddons for her lessons.
Exiled Deities
Mitis
Voiced by: Kotono Mitsuishi (Japanese), Samantha Herek (English)

The Goddess of the Bow.
- Adaptational Villainy: In the web novel, she was exiled for "sexually eating" one of the heroes she summoned. In the Yen Press light novel translation, she kidnapped and raped multiple heroes.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: For most of the days Seiya trains with her at the forest, Mitis behaves like a polite and kind goddess. It's until the last day that she reveals herself as a sex-crazed goddess who will try to have her way with any man she encounters.
- Black Comedy Rape: Her sexual harassment on Seiya and Attempted Rape on Mash are played for Black Comedy.
- Brick Joke: She moves on all fours and crawls like a spider just as she reveals her horny side in the forest. By the end of the Gaeabrande arc, Mitis sneaked to the central area of the Divine Realm, but once Aria ordered her to go back to the forest, she crawls like a spider again on the way out.
- Cool Crown: She wears a circlet.
- Dirty Old Woman: A nymphomaniac goddess who has a fetish for mortals who she's naturally hundreds of years older than at least. When she can't get her hands on Seiya, she then targets Mash saying that she's "perfectly fine with a shota."
- Double Entendre: Sexual innuendos go along with her perverted and masochistic trait:Mitis: I'm being pierced by something thick and long!Elulu: What is Mitis-sama saying!?
- Erotic Eating: After she witnessed Seiya calming down an enraged Adenela, Mitis sensually licks an apple before biting it.
- Foil: To Adenela:
- Adenela likes to dress messily with dark clothes, and her hair is a messy purple. Mitis is immaculately dressed in a white dress with straight white hair.
- Adenela is a Master Swordswoman, while Mitis is a master of the bow.
- Adenela appears creepy and unhinged, but is actually quite nice. Mitis appears prim and proper, but is actually an unhinged nymphomaniac.
- Both Adenela and Mitis gain feelings towards Seiya. Adenela harbors love, albeit unrealistic and despite being rejected, can't bring herself to harm him. Mitis only feels lust and has no problem raping him for her own pleasure.
- Gold and White Are Divine: She wears a white chiton with gold accessories, giving her the more traditional appearance of a Greek goddess compared to the other gods in the Divine Realm.
- Improbable Aiming Skills: She shoots all three of Seiya's firebirds with one arrow.
- Interplay of Sex and Violence: She orgasms when Seiya manages to pin her to a tree with five consecutive arrows. Rista had to quickly transport Mash and Elulu to Gaeabrande to prevent them from seeing.
- A Lighter Shade of Black: Of the known exiled gods, Mitis' crime is actually the least evil. Whereas Mersais and Zet tried to rebel against the Divine Realm itself, Mitis "sexually devoured" a summoned hero. Fittingly, while Mersais was banished all together and Zet was sealed away, Mitis was just forced to live in the forest until she learns her lesson.
- Lovable Sex Maniac: Averted due to the consequences. Aria states that she's a horny goddess who sexually "ate" a hero she summoned. Since relationships between deities and humans are forbidden, Ishtar exiled her to a forest in the Divine Realm. Aria implies the humans in the relationships would be punished too, which is bad for the imperiled worlds if their heroes are involved in these relationships.
- Master Archer: She's the Goddess of Archery, so she obviously has superhuman accuracy when it comes to aiming.
- Mystical White Hair: She's a goddess with pure white hair.
- Nightmare Face: In the anime, she gains red sclera and pointy teeth when she reveals her true horny colors.
- Sacred Bow and Arrows: She's an archery goddess, so it's natural that she uses a bow and magic arrows.
- Sexy Mentor: She teaches Seiya some archery abilities. Her last "test" for him is to shoot at the ropes wrapped around her naked body so they can have sex after he passes. He turns down the sex and pins the nude Mitis to a tree instead.
- Situational Sexuality: She's spent so long without any sexual contact that she's considering sleeping with women just to sate her urges. She started out wanting to assault Seiya, but in the Ixphoria arc, she tries to sexually assault Rista, but backs off when the latter uses anti-curse magic to make her go bald.
- Token Evil Teammate: She's one of the deities who mentors Seiya, but she turns out not to be as benevolent as she first appears. Despite being exiled for starting a relationship with a hero, she never learned her lesson at all, and planned to rape Seiya (and later Mash) at the end of their training. Fortunately, Seiya prevents this with his newfound archery skills, but this event does show why even the kind and understanding Aria considers Mitis to be a terrible goddess. Even then though, she still shows up to comfort Rista when everyone thinks Seiya is dead. The token part is subverted when the Ixphoria arc introduces a second Goddess of War, Zet, who was exiled into a well for rebelling against the other gods.
- Verbal Tic: She almost always ends her sentences in "-de gozaimasu."
- White Hair, Black Heart: A downplayed case. Her appearance reminds of purity, particularly because of her white hair. When she reveals her true colors, she's the most perverse goddess in the Divine Realm. Outside of her habit of "sexually eating" heroes, she's surprisingly not that bad. It's just when it comes to said heroes, she has no self-control whatsoever.
Mersais
The Goddess of Tyranny who long ago rebelled against the Divine Realm in the Armagazeeda, and was defeated by Valkyrie.- Big Bad: She steps into this role after the Ixphoria arc, and launches a direct attack on the Divine Realm itself.
- Dream Walker: She invades Rista's dream at the end of Volume 4 to talk to her.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: She seems to care for her masked subordinate, the Divine Hero, and is worried that they're pushing themselves too much with Berserk: Phase 4. She destroyed several worlds to gain the power to both oppose the Divine Realm and to revive her minion.
- Fallen Angel: She once lived in the Divine Realm, but eventually came to rebel against it.
- God of Evil: The Goddess of Tyranny. She is also the Dark God worshipped by the demons of Ixphoria.
- Greater-Scope Villain: In the Ixphoria arc. She's the Dark God who gave the demons of Ixphoria the blessings that make them so powerful, and she gives aid to each of the four demon emperors as well.
- Meaningful Appearance: Her hair has many different colors, each one representing a world she destroyed. It's for this reason she's referred to as the tawny or brindle-haired demon.
- Noodle Incident: According to Ishtar, Mersais once came up to the Three Pillars for a request, but they could not come to an agreement, sparking her rebellion.
Zet

Another goddess of warfare, who sided with God of Tyranny Mersais during the first war of Armagezeeda.
- Co-Dragons: She and the Divine Hero seem to share the role of being Mersais's top enforcers.
- Evil Counterpart: She and Adenela are both creepy goddesses of war, but Adenela is heroic underneath her creepy exterior and wants what's best for Seiya while Zet attempted to turn Seiya into a mindless pawn during their training. Additionally, the two were on opposite sides during the first war of Armagezeeda, with Zet holding a grudge over losing to Adenela.
- Sealed Evil in a Can: She's sealed in the Well of No Return for rebelling against the other gods. She gets unsealed at the end of the Ixphoria arc.
- Villain Respect: She respects Seiya for being able to maintain his sanity while using the Berserk technique. She tells him to be careful not to attempt Berserk Phase 3, since doing so could cause mental damage that lasts even when he returns to Earth.
Other Heroes
Ethan Schiffer
A hero summoned by Valkyrie for the Divine Cup. He specializes in destruction techniques.- Off with His Head!: Mersais's heroine kills him and presents his head to the audience of the Divine Cup.
- Strong and Skilled: Downplayed on the skilled part. He has higher base stats than Seiya, but hasn't mastered as many techniques. He's still very skilled compared to most heroes, since he mastered all destruction techniques except for Gate of Valhalla. He's also a soldier back on Earth, which means he has a lot of combat experience. Unfortunately, this isn't enough to beat Mersais's heroine, who mastered the Berserk technique.
Masato Morino
A hero summoned by Aegis for the Divine Cup. He specializes in defense.- Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: He has the ability to duplicate his shield to better protect himself from both physical attacks and magic. Reimi gets around this by using water magic to drown him and force him to drop his guard.
- Stone Wall: His strategy is to absorb his opponent's attack into his shields and eventually send that energy back to them.
Reimi Mochizuki
A heroine summoned by Ariadoa for the Divine Cup. She specializes in magic.- Combat Pragmatist: When she realizes that her spells are being absorbed by Masato's shields, she resorts to drowning him with a water spell in order to force him to dispel his shields.
The Divine Hero
A heroine summoned by Mersais, who originally had her soul destroyed by the Berserk technique.- Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: After killing Ethan, she mocks him for being weak and inexperienced.
- Co-Dragons: She and Zet are the direct subordinates of Mersais.
- Fallen Hero: She was once a heroine and one of the winners of the Divine Cup, but now she's helping Mersais distort the universe.
- With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Mersais had to search many warped worlds to find a version of the Divine Hero who survived Berserk Phase 4. However, the Divine Hero's soul is so tainted by the Berserk technique that her mindset is no longer considered human.
- Worthy Opponent: She believes Seiya would have put up a better fight than Ethan and was looking forward to fighting him.
The Three Pillars
Brahma

- Brutal Honesty: They makes no bones about how weak Rista's healing powers are without her godly limiters removed.
- Jerkass Gods: Despite being on the heroic side, they're far from nice. They don't think too highly of mortals and at one point admits that they're willing to bend the laws of time travel to save Rista, but not Seiya. Later, they send Seiya back to Earth to prevent him from learning about Mersais.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!: They ignored Seiya's offer to investigate Mersais and forced him to go back to Earth. When Mersais invades the Divine Realm, Seiya isn't there to come up with countermeasures against her.
- Obstructive Bureaucrat: Zigzagged. They allows Rista to use her powers again and later allows her to use Order for the final battle against Ultimaeus. However, when Seiya declares his intent to research the evil gods, Brahma forcibly sends him back home, stating that this subject is off-limits to mortals.
- Two-Faced: Half of their body looks male while the other half looks female.
Nemesiel
The god of logic and reason.- Large and in Charge: He's over five meters tall and he's one of the top three deities.
- Obstructive Bureaucrat:
- When Ishtar petitions the three central gods to allow Rista to use her healing powers in Ixphoria, Nemesiel initially denies her request because he believes Rista still deserves to be punished for using her full powers in Gaeabrande. He only relents when he learns that Rista's default healing powers are weak.
- He also objects to Seiya's request to use time travel to save Rista from a curse. He once again relents when Seiya uses the Granny Rista Sword to shrivel him up.
Chronoa
The goddess of time.- Reasonable Authority Figure: While she still wants Rista to complete the mission to save Ixphoria, she's more lenient on the punishment than Nemesiel, as shown when she agrees with allowing Rista to use her healing powers. She notes that in a world where all enemies have Chain Destruction, sending Rista there without her powers is a death sentence. This turns out to be true, since the party would have lost to the third emperor without Rista's powers. She also gives Rista the last known snapshot of Ultimaeus's status.
- Time Master: As the goddess of time, she can do things like sending people back to the past, under the caveat that they don't change history. Before the battle with Ultimaeus, she teaches Seiya how to negate time magic, which comes in handy when Ultimaeus turns out to be able to stop time.
Gaeabrande
Gaeabrande Allies
- And I Must Scream: Both of their original selves' souls are trapped in their warped versions. They are forced to watch the warped version of Mash suffer through Sanity Slippage and become a genocidal conqueror.
- Can't Catch Up: Mash and Elulu try their best to keep up with Seiya, but no matter how much they train, he always manages to eliminate their foes before they get to do anything and are reduced to clean up duty. This is subverted toward the end of their adventure in Gaeabrande, as Elulu's magic proves essential for Seiya to defeat Wohlks Roseguard, while Mash becomes the strongest being on Gaeabrande bar none with the Four Heavenly Kings and the Demon Lord dead. His stats also have the potential to surpass Seiya's if he keeps training.
- Childhood Friend Romance: Mash and Elulu have been together since they were babies and they have a crush on each other.
- Dragon Ancestry: Both are descended from dragons, which accounts for Mash's transformation ability. Elulu on the other hand is destined to die and become Igzasion, the only sword that can defeat the Demon Lord.
- Guys Smash, Girls Shoot: Mash is a warrior while Elulu's initially only knows how to use the Fire Arrow spell, though she later learns how to use support magic.
- Human Pack Mule: Seiya uses them solely to carry his stuff due to how low their stats are. Even after Mash gets a power boost from his Dragonewt transformation, the first thing Seiya asks is if he can carry more bags.
- Kid Hero: Mash is young enough to be called a "shota" and is as impulsive and Hot-Blooded as one ought to be. Elulu is the same age but is far more meek by comparison. That said, Mash is not so young that he's immune to lewd thoughts either.
- Put on a Bus: Once Seiya succeeds in defeating the Demon Lord and is thought to have perished, they remain behind in Gaeabrande to help rebuild it under Rosalie while Ristarte returns to the Divine Realm. The Bus Came Back for them and Rosalie, however, come the Warped Gaeabrande arc.
- Rank Up: Due to their efforts in aiding Seiya throughout his journey, once the Demon Lord is killed, Rosalie knighted them, making them part of the Roseguard while she acts as Gaeabrande's Queen.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Mash is loud, impulsive, and eager to jump into the fray, while Elulu is demure and gentle.
Mash

Voiced by: Kengo Kawanishi (Japanese), Chris Thurman (English)
A young dragonkin warrior, who becomes one of Seiya's inventory carriers.- Anti-Magic: In Warped Gaeabrande, Igzasion allows him to cancel certain enemy abilities, preventing Seiya's party from simply slitting his throat while they're invisible.
- The Apprentice: He becomes one to Seiya and later Cerceus in the Divine Realm.
- Ax-Crazy: In Warped Gaeabrande, he becomes a sadistic tyrant who believes torturing and killing non-dragonewts will make Elulu's ghost happy.
- Badasses Wear Bandanas: He keeps his hair out of his face with his bandana and hopes to be a great warrior. Unfortunately, he is almost a complete newbie whose skills and stats are dwarfed by Seiya, who is too cautious to even give him the opportunity to level grind outside of a safe place. But once he does get the chance to grow, this is played increasingly straighter, even though Seiya is still the one doing most of the heavy lifting.
- Break the Badass: Combined with Break the Haughty due to his initial overconfidence in trying to fight Deathmagla. After being tortured by Deathmagla, Mash is traumatized to the point where he can't fight. Fortunately, witnessing Seiya defeat Deathmagla reignites his fighting spirit.
- Butt-Monkey: Poor Mash starts his adventure looking to become a legendary warrior who helps the hero defeat the Demon Lord, only to get reduced to a Human Pack Mule. After his youthful impulsiveness and cockiness is shattered by Cold-Blooded Torture, he gets to train in the Divine Realm to level grind, but still can't hold a candle to Seiya. Elulu even uses him as a guinea pig to show off her new support magic, while his new powerups are treated as weird and creepy. Then he's almost subject to Black Comedy Rape by Mitis. By the end of his adventure, his only real contributions against the overpowered Demon Lord and his generals is holding onto Seiya's stuff for him and piling up enemy bodies for Seiya to torch. Although he's still frustrated by this, he takes it in stride this time and tries to use this menial labor as a learning experience.
- Death Equals Redemption: His warped version gives Igzasion to Seiya so that the latter can kill him and return the world to normal.
- Defiant to the End: When Deathmagla cuts the cloth binding Mash's mouth shut, he expected Mash to beg for his life. Instead, Mash realizes just how insanely powerful Seiya was, and encourages him to save the world in his place. Deathmagla isn't too pleased about that, though he doesn't get much time to actually kill Mash as Seiya immediately jumps into action to save him.
- Face Death with Dignity: When Deathmagla captures him and is about to kill him, Mash asks Seiya to save the world in his place. Fortunately, Seiya turns out to have a skill that can cut through the fabric of space, allowing him to save Mash despite being in a different location.
- Fashionable Asymmetry: He only wears shoulder armor on his left arm and his sash is tied to the left.
- Harmful to Minors:
- Deathmagla subjects Mash to Cold-Blooded Torture as retribution for Seiya decimating the undead army. He's so traumatized that he initially can't bring himself to fight again until Seiya's victory over Deathmagla inspires him.
- When Mitis tries to rape him and Seiya, Ristarte desperately tries to shield Mash and Elulu's eyes from the sight of Mitis' naked form to no avail.
- Hellish Pupils: He develops these while using his Dragonnewt transformation.
- Heroes Prefer Swords: Mash carries a sword at his hip. Unfortunately, it doesn't see much use due to Seiya's preferred method of dealing with the enemy.
- Hero-Worshipper: He's initially hostile to Seiya due to the latter rejecting the dragonkin duo as companions. After Seiya saves him and invites him to carry his bags, Mash does a 180 and becomes one of Seiya's most loyal followers. He also adopts Seiya's cautious methodology in order to emulate him.
- Hot-Blooded: Mash is enthusiastic about being a warrior destined to help fight the demon lord. Unfortunately, Seiya is too cautious to let him take part in the fighting and reduces him to a Human Pack Mule, which frustrates Mash until he runs away to fight Deathmagla, getting himself captured and tortured in the process. After that, Mash cools off considerably, but he's still passionate about protecting the people he cares about.
- Imagine Spot: Mash has some lewd visual thoughts when a naked Mitis is about to pounce on him.
- Magically Inept Fighter: He has a magic stat of 0 and it stays that way even as he continues to power up.
- Meet the New Boss: In the world of Warped Gaeabrande where Seiya and Rista never showed up to save it, Mash became the hero, sacrificed Elulu to obtain Igzasion, slayed Xenosload, then proceeded to replace him as the Dragon Lord, oppressing all other races besides his fellow dragonkind.
- Mundane Utility: He gains the ability to transform into a Dragonewt and later into a huge dragon. Seiya remarks that this means he can carry more stuff.
- Muscles Are Meaningful: He's not especially tall or muscular, especially when compared to Seiya, and it shows in how his stats are much lower than his. His muscles grow when transforming into a Dragonnewt, multiplying his stats by a factor of ten, and even larger than that when he uses his Dragon God Metamorphosis.
- Overshadowed by Awesome: Despite his power ups throughout the journey, he's still far weaker than the higher tier threats in the demon army. Though his stats are surprisingly high for his level, as shown by how his level 21 stats are about a third of Seiya's level 99 stats and mostly surpasses Seiya's level 51 stats, which suggests Mash could become stronger than Seiya with enough leveling.
- Painful Transformation: Downplayed. He grunts in pain and discomfort upon transforming into a Dragonewt for the first time, but the process goes smoothly and he never complains about pain when transforming again.
- Passing the Torch: Seiya's last words to him is telling him that with the Demon Lord and Four Heavenly Kings dead, Mash is now the strongest being on Gaeabrande thus it's his responsibility to protect it. In Mash's last meeting with Rista, he makes it clear he plans on protecting the world that Seiya saved.
- Power Levels:
- LV:8, HP:476, MP:0, ATK:206, DEF:184, SPD:101, MAG:0, GRW:28. When he first meets Seiya.
- LV:16, HP:1,381, MP 0, ATK:921, DEF:877 ,SPD:790 MAG:0, GRW:47. After training with Cerceus.
- LV:21, HP:139,544, MP:0, ATK:91,578, DEF:83,333, SPD:61,496, MAG:0 GRW:67. In Dragon God Metamorphosis form at the end of the Gaeabrande arc.
- Power-Upgrading Deformation: Mash's Dragonnewt form increases his overall abilities ten times over, but makes him scaly and lizard-like Weredragon during use. Rista and Elulu call this "creepy", while Seiya warns him to stay away while using it, since he might mistake him for a monster in the heat of combat and kill him by accident.
- Tears of Fear: Sheds these with a side of Inelegant Blubbering while fleeing for his life from the nymphomaniac Mitis.
- Time to Unlock More True Potential: The Mother of Dragons unlocks his ability to take on a Dragonewt form, multiplying his stats ten-fold. She also states that he has the potential to unlock a Dragon God Metamorphosis, becoming even more powerful. Aria helps him unlock this, though he's only able to transform a few limbs at a time by the time Seiya kills the Demon Lord.
- Took a Level in Badass: After training with Cerceus and unlocking his dragon form, he ends up becoming one of the strongest beings in Gaeabrande. By the time Seiya defeats the Demon Lord, Mash's raw stats with his Dragon God Metamorphosis dwarf Chaos Machina's and Dark Firus' even though he has 78 levels to go, implying that he could one day become stronger than Seiya.
- The Tooth Hurts: Deathmagla rips out one of Mash's teeth during his Cold-Blooded Torture. It's restored thanks to Rista's healing.
- Unskilled, but Strong: The Warped version of him is this compared to his original version. While he has the power of Igzasion and the Dragon Emperor form, he was never trained by Seiya and Cerceus. As a result, his swordplay is rather basic, and he doesn't bother using careful tactics.
- Weredragon: Thanks to his dragonkin nature, Mash can transform into a dragonewt which multiplies his attack, defense, and speed by ten times, and later gets upgraded into a full dragon form with Dragon God Metamorphosis.
- World's Best Warrior: At the end of the Gaeabrande arc with the Demon Lord, the four Heavenly Kings and Seiya all dead, Mash is the strongest being on Gaeabrande. In the Warped Gaeabrande arc, he becomes even stronger due to wielding Igzasion, which increases his stats on top of giving him new abilities. This allows him to easily defeat enemies like Crossed Thanatos, Emperor Roseguard, and Xenosload.
- Wound That Will Not Heal: In the Warped Gaeabrande arc, his Igzasion sword causes any wounds he inflicts to be permanent.
- Yandere: In Warped Gaeabrande, Marionelda disguises herself as Elulu's ghost in order to traumatize Mash and make him believe that committing genocide is the only way to ease Elulu's suffering.
Elulu

Voiced by: Aoi Koga (Japanese), Sarah Wiedenheft (English)
A young dragonkin mage, who also becomes one of Seiya's inventory carriers.- The Apprentice: She briefly becomes one to Hestiaca.
- Drowning My Sorrows: A PG-version. Elulu is flabbergasted when Seiya masters her one and only offensive spell, Fire Arrow, nigh-instantly even though it's incredibly difficult for her to use. She's so frustrated that she starts wolfing down candy to cope.
- Heroic BSoD: Played for Laughs when she briefly becomes depressed after Seiya quickly learned the fire bow skill that Elulu thought was difficult and complex. She spends the next few scenes wanting to do nothing else but eat sweets.
- Hesitant Sacrifice: The Dragon Mother intended for her to be sacrificed to create the sword, Igzasion. Elulu goes along with it, but admits she still wants to live and continue traveling with the party. Fortunately, Seiya prevents her sacrifice, though he makes sure not to tell her or Mash that he failed to obtain the sword, otherwise they'd feel guilty.
- It Sucks to Be the Chosen One: She's destined to become Igzasion, the sword that will kill the Demon Lord, at the cost of her own life. She initially tries to justify it by noting all the lives that would be saved with the Demon Lord's defeat, but ultimately, she admits that she doesn't want to die.
- The Load: She initially thinks of herself as useless because she couldn't improve in fire magic, but this is subverted when she learns how to cast support magic, which Seiya notes allowed him to barely win against Emperor Roseguard.
- Nice Girl: She's the most kindhearted member of the Gaeabrande party. Even when she's upset that Seiya rejected her and Mash, she doesn't direct hostility towards him like Mash.
- Pink Means Feminine: Her clothes are predominantly pink and she's very girly and demure.
- Playing with Fire: She originally tried mastering fire magic, but Hestiaca reveals she didn't have much talent for it.
- Posthumous Character: In Warped Gaeabrande, no one shows up to save her so she's turned into Igzasion. The dragonkind still worship her as a holy figure, the Seraph.
- Power Levels:
- LV:7, HP:355, MP:195, ATK:98, DEF:160, SPD:76, MAG:189, GRW:36. When she first meets Seiya.
- LV:8, HP:384, MP:220, ATK:101, DEF:172, SPD:88, MAG:196, GRW:38. After training with Hestiaca.
- Spirit Advisor: In the Warped Gaeabrande arc, her ghost seems to be an evil version of this for Mash, encouraging him to commit genocide on non-dragonewts. However, that ghost is actually Marionelda in disguise. The real Elulu shows up in Rista's dreams to warn her that killing Mash won't be enough to restore the warped world to normal.
- Support Party Member: She turns out to be talented in auxiliary magic, and can cast spells to slow or hasten targets.
- Targeted Human Sacrifice: Elulu was chosen to sacrifice her life in a ritual at the Dragon Village to create the mighty sword Igzasion, which the prophecy says is the only weapon that can kill the Demon Lord. Elulu was going to resign to her fate, but Seiya ends up saving her and tricks everyone into thinking the ritual worked when he killed the Dragon Mother.
- Time Master: After being taken to the Divine Realm to train, Elulu learns the support magic spells "Delay" and "Haste", which allow her to drastically slow down or speed up someone, respectively. Using Delay on Mash as a demonstration has him moving like molasses while struggling to give a coherent sentence out, while Haste speeds him up to the point of becoming a high-pitched Motor Mouth who stumbles over things because he can't control how fast he's moving.
- Token Mini-Moe: She's the cute young girl in Seiya's party at Gaeabrande.
Dragon Village
Great Mother of Dragons

Voiced by: Masako Katsuki (Japanese), Brigette Marquardt (English)
The leader of the dragonewts.- Crazy-Prepared: She already expected the party to oppose Elulu's sacrifice, so she had her citizens lace the party's food with paralytics and gave Elulu a Death Sentence Necklace that will kill her within a time limit. Seiya states she wasn't cautious enough and that she should have activated her Ultimate Wall during the banquet to prevent any opportunity for Seiya to damage her wings.
- Death by Irony: She dies the same way she intended to kill Elulu: falling into the pit and getting turned into a sword.
- Disney Villain Death: Seiya defeats her by making her fall into the same abyss she was going to use to sacrifice Elulu. He also damaged her wings before that to ensure she can't fly out.
- Foil: She shares Seiya's belief that being cautious is necessary to save the world. Unlike Seiya, who is willing to compromise on caution in order to save his friends, she's willing to sacrifice an innocent girl to ensure victory.
- Light Is Not Good: In Warped Gaeabrande, she uses light magic to make quick work of the demons.
- Motive Decay:
- Despite wanting to create Igzasion for Seiya to use, she becomes so enraged at his opposition to her plans that she tries to kill him with her fire breath attack, despite how doing so would leave no one capable of using Igzasion to kill the Demon Lord.
- In Warped Gaeabrande, she goes from wanting to save the world from the demons through any means necessary to committing genocide on non-dragonewts because she thinks this is what the dragonewts' deity wants.
- Named by the Adaptation: The anime names her Leviae, despite how the web and light novels don't give her a name even in her status window.
- One-Winged Angel: She normally appears as a normal-sized dragonewt, but can transform into a massive dragon.
- Power Levels: LV:66, HP:563,290, MP:5,533, ATK:43,898, DEF:38,881, SPD:5,679, MAG:10,209, GRW:721. In Dragon God Metamorphosis form.
- Redemption Rejection: Seiya offers her to surrender because she's not part of the demon army, but she refuses and continues with her plan to sacrifice Elulu.
- Ring-Out Boss: How she meets her end. She's invincible while using Ultimate Wall, but not unmovable. This proves to be fatal as Seiya is pushing her towards a pit that will kill her should she fall in.
- Slipping a Mickey: She throws a great feast for the heroes while preparing Elulu for her planned sacrifice, with some children handing them cookies they baked. Later, when they start having doubts about wanting to lose Elulu, both Mash and Rista fall to the ground, unable to move due to their tampered drink and cookies from earlier. Seiya is unaffected because he never drank any of that same drink, and reveals that he threw up the cookies shortly after eating them.
- Stone Wall: Her strategy is to tank Seiya's attacks using her damage resistance passives and Ultimate Wall skill until Elulu dies from the Death Sentence Necklace, since she's no match for him in offense or speed. Her resilience is made more impressive by the revelation that Seiya is already at the level cap. This is lampshaded by Seiya, who compares her to a Nurikabe, a wall-like yōkai.
- Villain Has a Point: Her insistence on creating Igzasion makes sense when the Demon Lord turns out to be able to tank all of Seiya's weapons other than Valhalla Blade.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Her status screen describes her as self-righteous and she'll do anything to ensure the fall of the Demon Lord. Her plan is for Elulu to absorb energy from the human world and eventually sacrifice her to make Igzasion. She also executed Elulu and Mash's families for opposing this plan.
Lagos

Voiced by: Makoto Sahara (Japanese), Chris Guerrero (English)
The dragonewt guarding the entrance to the Dragon Village.- Nice Guy: Despite Seiya making him teleport a small lizard out of paranoia, Lagos takes it well and compliments the hero for his caution. He's also thankful that the party saved Elulu from being sacrificed and he only warns the party to leave because many other dragonewts are angry at Seiya for killing their leader.
- Token Good Teammate: He's one of the few dragonewts who disagreed with sacrificing Elulu, though he couldn't voice his opinion because the others would execute him for it. This also applies in the Warped Gaeabrande arc, where he's the only named dragonewt to oppose Mash's genocide against humanity.
- Too Good for This Sinful Earth: In the Warped Gaeabrande arc, Mash and the other dragonewts torture and fatally wound him. Despite that, Lagos uses his last moments to pray for the gods to forgive Mash and for peace to return between the dragonewts and humans.
Roseguard Empire
Princess Rosalie Roseguard

Voiced by: Yumiri Hanamori (Japanese), Madeleine Morris (English)
A princess of the empire who is in charge of Olga Fortress.- Alliterative Name: Rosalie Roseguard.
- Animal Motifs: Seiya and Mash compare her to an angry barking dog due to the way she grinds her teeth and growls at Seiya when they disagree on something. Even her teeth resemble a dog's when she's huffy like this.
- The Atoner: Deconstructed in the Warped Gaeabrande arc. She's so horrified by how she played into the demons' hands and sacrificed her own people for nothing, she's willing to die as Seiya's meatshield.
- Bitch Slap: This is what she tries to do to Seiya after he insults her. Instead, he blocks her and slaps her right back. And she tries to do this several times until her face is swollen.
- Break the Haughty: She gets slapped by Seiya, nearly killed by Beel Bub, and witnesses her father falling to villainy. By the end of the Gaeabrande arc, she's become much more levelheaded.
- Brick Joke: Every time Seiya calls Rosalie a dog, her mouth does turn like a dog's soon after, including the fangs! The name-calling happens twice, first after slapping some sense into her, and after he rescued her from Beel Bub. After Eraser Kaiser is defeated, he does subtly piss off Rosalie without calling her a dog, but she's still drawn with fangs when angered.
- Complaining About Rescues They Don't Like: After Seiya saves her from Beel Bub, she calls him a coward for using sniping and trickery to win rather than direct combat.
- Due to the Dead: She is first introduced praying in the Field of Blades where her comrades recently died.
- Eyepatch of Power: In the Warped Gaeabrande arc, she wears an eyepatch over her right eye.
- Foil: Seiya's cautiousness is in contrast to Rosalie's recklessness.
- General Failure: Seiya lays the blame of her soldiers' death at her feet, claiming it was her recklessness that killed them all.
- Hero-Worshipper: She idolizes her father as the strongest man in Gaeabrande and the paragon of heroism and chivalry.
- Honor Before Reason: She believes a true hero will play fair and straightfoward, causing her to rush in recklessly. Too bad literally no one else in Gaeabrande thinks the same way she does.
- Jerkass Has a Point: Combined with Hypocrite Has a Point. She claims that the gods, who live safely due to their immortality and godly realm, wouldn't be able to fully comprehend the perils that mortals face. There is some truth to her words, since the gods prioritize following their rules despite that getting in the way of saving the world. Rista also didn't fully understand the weight of saving the world at the beginning of the story. Seiya admits she has a point, but tells her that she doesn't have much room to talk about respecting life after she recklessly marched her troops into battle with the insect army, causing many to be needlessly killed.
- Leeroy Jenkins: Her strategy to defeat Beel Bub's insect army is to invade their hive, despite their overwhelming speed and aerial advantage against humans. Seiya points out that this approach is the reason why so many of her forces were already killed by the insects.
- Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Rosalie has a Light Protection skill that grants a barrier around her to protect while she's climbing up the demon flies' nest. It's not of any use against Beel Bub.
- "Not So Different" Remark: When the party sees a vision of Seiya's past, they muse that he used to be just as reckless as Rosalie. This may explain why Seiya chafes with her more than his other detractors.
- Overshadowed by Awesome: Her stats are numerically superior to Chaos Machina's true form's, which is pretty impressive for a mere human at level 23 and suggests she will match her father and Seiya once she's gotten stronger. Unfortunately, they're all four digits at the point in the story when everyone is boasting stats of five or six digits.
- Parting-Words Regret: Defied by Seiya, who convinces her to talk to her father as he dies.
- Power Levels:
- LV:23, HP:6,780, MP:0, ATK:4,120, DEF:3,655, SPD:3,987 MAG:0, GRW:48.
- Lv:68, HP:127,542, MP:9865, ATK:175,415, DEF:158,644, SPD:165,431, MAG:857, GRW:72. In the Warped Gaeabrande arc.
- Pretty Princess Powerhouse: A princess who fights on the front lines against the demons. Unfortunately, this is the one time when it's probably better the princess doesn't take command thanks to her lack of strategic skills.
- Royals Who Actually Do Something: She is the princess of her nation and leads an army against the demon forces.
- She Who Fights Monsters: In the Warped Gaeabrande arc, she becomes so desperate to defeat the Dragonewts that she's willing to side with the demons and sacrifice humans to unseal Lucifer Crowe. This makes her not so different from the Dragon Mother, who also believed in sacrificing innocents to defeat an unbeatable foe.
- Took a Level in Kindness: After Seiya gets her to reconcile with her father, she becomes more appreciative of him.
- Unwitting Pawn: She becomes one to the demons in the Warped Gaeabrande arc. They create a contract where they aren't allowed to kill humans while designating Rosalie as the only one who can destroy the contract. However, they can control any human who received demonic enhancements, allowing them to force Rosalie to destroy the contract once the humans outlive their usefulness.
Emperor Wohlks Roseguard
Voiced by: Tetsuo Kaneo, Juri Kimura (child), Yuki Ono (demonkin) (Japanese), Sonny Franks, Kristi Rothrock (child, episode 9), Emi Lo (child, episode 10), Christopher Wehkamp (demonkin) (English)

The emperor of Roseguard, and Rosalie's father.
- Adaptational Badass: In the web and light novels, he fought defensively against Eraser Kaiser in order to learn and counter the latter's fighting style. In the anime, he kills Kaiser immediately.
- Adaptive Ability: The longer he fights against an enemy, the more his stats increase due to his passive skill, Evolve Attack. It's unknown if these stat increases are permanent.
- Always Someone Better: He discovered the Demon Lord was much stronger than him, and came to worship him because of it.
- Bare-Handed Blade Block: Wohlks tries this to protect himself against Seiya's Phoenix Thrust, it failed miserably.
- Bling of War: Wears ornate golden armor.
- Broken Pedestal: Rosalie is angry to learn of his betrayal, and almost refuses to console him as he dies until Seiya slaps her again.
- Catchphrase: "Accustomed. I've already adapted to this too." Used in combat after he's finished analyzing an opponent's technique and is about to turn the tables.
- Climax Boss: He's fought right before The Reveal, and he's the first opponent Seiya couldn't beat in a straight fight.
- Deal with the Devil: He became depressed over his aging body, leading him to sell out to the Demon Lord in exchange for demonic powers.
- Death Equals Redemption: As he dies, he apologizes to Rosalie and pats her on the head, telling her that he loves her.
- The Dragon: He's the Demon King's last ally after Eraser Kaiser's death, and he's the one given the duty of killing Rista and Seiya permanently with the God Eater.
- Dying as Yourself: He reverts to his true form and tells Rosalie he loves her before passing on.
- Dying Declaration of Love: Before he dies, he tells Rosalie he loves her.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He still seems to love Rosalie even after having become a demon worshiper.
- Fallen Hero: He's Gaeabrande's top native warrior and the ruler of the Roseguard Empire, one of the main lines of defense against the Demon Lord. Which makes it all the more shocking that he joined the demons.
- Feeling Their Age: As an 80-year-old man, he's not as strong as he used to be, something he's frustrated about. It's part of the reason he sold out to the Demon Lord.
- Fountain of Youth: He periodically turns into a baby for no reason. Rosalie says it might be an effect of a curse placed on him by the Demon Lord. It represents the pettiness of his nature, making a Deal with the Devil out of jealousy towards the Hero, and the fact that he came to see the Demon Lord as his father, though what caused these personality traits to crystallize as a literal transformation into a baby is left unclear.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Besides his grief over his aging body, his second reason for joining the Demon Lord is because he's jealous that Seiya gets to be the hero who fights the Demon Lord while he's relegated to support at best.
- Knight of Cerebus: Once he is revealed as a villain. His fight with Seiya is played completely seriously. Right after he appears, we get The Reveal about Seiya's past.
- Light 'em Up: Uses primarly light based attacks. He switches to Casting a Shadow versions after he turns into a demon.
- Long-Haired Pretty Boy: What he looks like after taking a substance that turned him into a demonkin, something that resembles an adult man in his prime.
- Major Injury Underreaction: After he and Seiya take off each others' arms, he's more worried about losing his sword than bleeding out.
- Master Swordsman: During his battle with Seiya, he overwhelms the latter in swordplay and only loses because Seiya reflected damage onto his arm via a destruction technique. Notably, Seiya is already buffed to be much faster than Wohlks, had taken off his training weights to double his speed on top of that, and was taught swordplay by the gods, but still lost in a straight fight.
- Power Levels:
- LV:90, HP:259,985, MP:0, ATK:189,633, DEF:176,358, SPD:148,796, MAG:0, GRW:777.
- LV:90, HP:359,985, MP:0, ATK:302,225, DEF:293,664, SPD:257,511, MAG:0, GRW:789. After becoming a demonkin.
- Power-Up Food: A substance given by the Demon Lord allowed Wohlks to turn into a demonkin, boosting his stats, while giving him the physique of an adult man.
- Rank Scales with Asskicking: He is the emperor of Roseguard as well as its best warrior.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: His eye color changes from blue to red after he becomes a demon.
- Underestimating Badassery: He thinks Seiya, being from a more peaceful world, has lower pain tolerance and would fold as soon as he receives a major injury. He's proven wrong when Seiya continues fighting despite losing an arm.
- Villainous Valor: Even after becoming a demon, his status still lists his personality as "valiant," which is shown by how he doesn't falter in his battle with Seiya despite losing his arm and his weapon.
- Walking Spoiler: Even before highlighting the spoilers, just reading the names of the tropes involved with him will let you know something's fishy about him. Sure enough, he's joined the Demon Lord for eternal youth and vengeance against the hero he perceives as having taken his place.
- Weapon of X-Slaying: He wields the God Eater, a weapon based on the Demon Lord's Chain Destruction, which can permanently kill deities and heroes. He uses this when he reveals his true colors to the protagonists and Rosalie, threatening to kill them.
- World's Best Warrior: He's the greatest human warrior on Gaeabrande, as shown by how he easily defeated Eraser Kaiser, a demon general. After becoming a demon, he's stronger and more skilled than even Seiya.
Gaeabrande Demons
Xenosload
Voiced by: Keiji Fujiwara (Japanese), Kyle Igneczi (English)
The leader of Gaeabrande's demon army, who is said to be invincible if not faced with Igzasion.- Anti-Magic: He established an anti-magic field around his castle to prevent the hero from simply nuking him with a powerful spell. This doesn't negate Valhalla's Gate, since that skill isn't considered magic.
- Arc Villain: He's the one responsible for the demon attacks in Gaeabrande, but he isn't the Big Bad of the overall series because he's only active in one world.
- Crazy-Prepared: He uses Chain Destruction in an attempt to kill the real souls of any hero or god who opposes him, preventing them from ever returning to impede him and acting as a deterrent against further divine interference.
- Deader than Dead: He has an item known as Chain Destruction, which gives him the ability to permanently destroy the souls of heroes and gods if he kills them. He nearly succeeds in doing so to Seiya, but Rista's healing magic stops him. When Xenosload is killed by the second Valhalla's Gate, his Chain Destruction is also destroyed, allowing Seiya's soul to survive their Mutual Kill.
- Dem Bones: Even when reduced to a skeleton, he's still able to move.
- Determinator: He succeeds in escaping one Valhalla's Gate despite being reduced to a skeleton and being hit in the face by Valhalla Blade. Fortunately, he ends up too weakened to survive another gate.
- The Dreaded: Everyone in Gaebrande is terrified of him. Wohlks just laying eyes on him frightened him to the point where he realized he couldn't defeat him and he became the Demon Lord's follower.
- Early-Bird Cameo: His silhouette can be seen at the end of episode 6 alongside Eraser Kaiser after they finished constructing Chain Destruction.
- Eldritch Abomination: Even though he doesn't really look the part, he managed to resist, and eventually outright escape, a Valhalla's Gate. Keep in mind, this move is supposed to transcend the fundamental laws of reality to kill absolutely, and destroyed Cross Thanatos, a certified Humanoid Abomination and death god that transcends dimensions, with no problem at all. Not to mention he packs enough power to annihilate a world.
- Generic Doomsday Villain: His motivations and backstory are never explained and he receives even less characterization than all his minions.
- Hero Killer: Is said to be invincible and can only be harmed by the sword Igzasion. After Seiya's fight with Emperor Rosegaurd, it is made very clear he has little chance of beating the Demon Lord. Even with Rista's help, Seiya dies in the fight.
- Holy Burns Evil: Igzasion is able to harm him because of the immense sacred energy inside it.
- Maou the Demon King: A very generic example to boot.
- Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Like Eraser Kaiser, he has multiple arms, allowing him to hold open the doors of Valhalla's Gate while fighting against Seiya at the same time.
- Nigh-Invulnerability: Only the holy sword Igzasion can harm him as seen in his final fight with Seiya. The blades of Valhalla's Gate are the only other thing able to harm him.
- No Name Given: Unlike the Demon Lord of Ixphoria, Ultimaeus, his name is never revealed. It's later revealed offhandedly to be Xenosload.
- No One Could Survive That!: Despite Valhalla's Gate being touted as a skill that can destroy anything, including beings who can defy the laws of reality, the Demon Lord manages to barely escape one gate.
- No-Sell: None of Seiya's attacks have any effect on him, short of Valhalla's Gate.
- One-Winged Angel: He can transform from his humanoid form to his true form as a multi-armed demon. He pulls off another one as a skeletal entity as he manages to escape Valhalla's Gate.
- Planet Destroyer: Judgement Zero, his final Desperation Attack, can annihilate a world "twice over".
- Poor Communication Kills: He failed to tell Eraser Kaiser that Emperor Roseguard had secretly defected to their side. Wohlks kills Eraser Kaiser to keep up the deception until he could kill Seiya and Rista with a surprise attack.
- Rank Scales with Asskicking: Is the leader of the demon army and the strongest entity on Gaeabrande. Even outside of his One-Winged Angel form, he's immune to every attack by Seiya except for Valhalla's Gate, and even then, he nearly breaks out of it forcing Seiya to use a second one on him.
- Taking You with Me: He has the ability to destroy the entire world with his Judgement Zero skill, and only uses it when Seiya reduces him to a skeleton. Rista states the skill has enough energy to destroy the world twice.
- We Hardly Knew Ye: Despite the build up and hype he receives throughout the story, he makes his proper appearance only at the end of a fight between him and Seiya right before he dies. We don't even get to see his stat sheet like most of the other villains.
Chaos Machina

Voiced by: Chiaki Takahashi (Japanese), Emily Fajardo (English)
The first and weakest of the demon generals.- Ax-Crazy: When she speaks, she often repeats her words with a Slasher Smile on her face. Later, she takes joy in killing a random villager and gushes over their blood.
- Becoming the Mask: In Warped Gaeabrande, she dies protecting Rosalie, realizing that she gradually became attached to the human that she originally tricked.
- BFS: Her weapon is a very large sword.
- Body Horror: After stabbing herself with her own sword, hands burst out of the wound, before the rest of her body becomes a massive winged bull-like demon.
- Buxom Beauty Standard: While she is pretty powerful and has large breasts, she's actually the weakest of the demon generals.
- Chest Burster: A voluntary example. She willingly stabs herself with her sword and unleashes the demonic power contained in her body in a truly gruesome manner.
- Crazy-Prepared: She realizes that keeping tabs on a low-level area would allow her to kill any would-be heroes before they can pose a threat. Only Seiya's own crazy preparedness saves him in the end.
- Demon Lords and Archdevils: A demon general of the variety.
- Depraved Bisexual: She speaks flirtatiously with Seiya, since she respects his cautious nature. In Warped Gaeabrande, after she betrays Rosalie and reveals her true cruel personality, she decides she'll keep Rosalie alive as her personal Sex Slave.
- Fan Disservice: Her first form is very conventionally attractive, and her Release form has some Amazonian Beauty appeal. She then proceeds to gruesomely stab herself with her own sword to unleash her true form, which doesn't look human at all. If it weren't for the voice, you couldn't ever tell she's female at that point.
- Fauns and Satyrs: Her first form looks like a busty Horned Humanoid with goat-like legs, giving her the appearance of a female satyr.
- Faux Affably Evil: She speaks in a polite and seductive tone of voice, even when she's slaughtering people.
- From a Single Cell: Seiya brings up the possibility, at least. We never find out whether he's right, as he isn't willing to take the chance.
- Growing Muscles Sequence: Her Release form has her bulking up a considerable amount.
- Hostage Situation: When Seiya and Rista flee to the Divine Realm, she takes the residents of Edona hostage and threatens to kill one every ten minutes if they don't come back.
- Impossible Hourglass Figure: Her first form is incredibly curvaceous, with large breasts and a small waist with wide hips and thick thighs, and it is even exaggerated with her Release form.
- Jump Scare: She causes one for Rista, who when using a crystal ball, is momentarily under the impression that she's aware. It also doesn't help that it's a bit too much of a close-up.
- Kick the Dog: She shortens the time for Seiya and Rista to return before she kills the next hostage, and nearly kills a man in front of his daughter.
- Knight of Cerebus: The story starts out lighthearted and treats Seiya's cautiousness as a gag. However, the situation becomes dire when she arrives, as not only is she a credible threat to the hero, she's also an example of how ruthless and sadistic the demons can be, as shown by how she takes Edona hostage. Despite Seiya curbstomping her in the end, her actions establish that the mission to save Gaeabrande is not to be taken lightly, and she sets the pace for the other demon generals' vileness.
- Ms. Fanservice: She has a thick curvy body with big breasts, big thighs, and always walks around in a bikini.
- No-Nonsense Nemesis:
- She is spawn camping right outside a low-level zone because she is savvy enough to know that's where a hero is likely to start leveling up, giving her a chance to kill an opponent before they can grow into a threat.
- When Seiya and Rista flee from her, she immediately gives chase and goes for their heads, without playing with her prey at all.
- When they do escape, she immediately figures out they might be scrying on her and starts killing villagers to guilt trip them into a hopeless fight.
- In her Release form, she assumes that she outclasses Seiya. However, just to be sure there's no way for him to turn the tables, she still unleashes her full power. She ultimately has no chance to beat him, but not for lack of trying.
- Number of the Beast: Likely not coincidentally, her level is 66, just one number away from this.
- One-Winged Angel: When Seiya proves to be a match for her normal and Release forms, she transforms into a gigantic bullish demon with more than three times her original stats. Fortunately, it turns out Seiya was hiding his true strength too.
- Power Echoes: In her true form.
- Power Levels:
- LV:66, HP:3,877, MP:108, ATK:887, DEF:845, SPD:951, MAG:444, GRW:653. Normal form.
- LV:66, HP:5,511, MP:227, ATK:1,128, DEF:1,199, SPD:1,060, MAG:517, GRW:653. In her Release form.
- LV:66, HP:15,100, MP:424, ATK:3,577, DEF:3,229, SPD:3,847, MAG:548, GRW:653. In her true form.
- Lv:87, HP:156,749, MP:8,578, ATK:145,871, DEF:142,180, SPD:135,789, MAG:6,666, GRW:845. In the Warped Gaeabrande arc, normal form.
- Prefers Going Barefoot: Due to having goat hooves, she doesn't wear shoes.
- The Sociopath: She enjoys killing people and has no sense of empathy or compassion.
- Starter Villain: She's the first general encountered by Seiya and has the lowest stats, even in her bull form.
- Stripperiffic: Her outfit leaves very little to the imagination.
- Tattooed Crook: She has a tattoo around her belly button.
- Underestimating Badassery: She thought that she was still way above Seiya's stats when he returned. What she didn't realize was that Seiya faked his own stats, which prompts her to transform into her true form. But even then, Seiya still had some tricks up his sleeve, such as Phoenix Drive, an advanced skill that one would not expect at his current level.
- Villain Respect: She compliments Seiya on a few of his cautious moves, such as immediately running away at the sight of an overwhelming opponent instead of playing doomed heroics, and having the presence of mind to pack smoke bombs.
- Wake-Up Call Boss: A rare zigzagged example where she serves as both this and a Warm-Up Boss. She appears as a ruthless threat who averts many common clichés of the genre with a vengeance, and makes Rista realize just how brutally unforgiving the enemies of the world she has been assigned to are. In her true form, she has stats that would put many Demon Lords to shame. If Rista had summoned any other hero, they would have met their end at her hands for sure. However, thanks to Seiya's bloated stats and hardcore training, she's ultimately nothing special. In fact, she's the only enemy in Gaeabrande that Seiya beats just by using more raw power rather than a specific tactic.
- Walking Swimsuit Scene: She basically goes around in a bikini.
Deathmagla

Voiced by: Yuji Ueda (Japanese), Chris Gardner (English)
A demon general who specializes in creating and controlling monsters.- Armchair Military: He prefers to let his army of monsters fight on his behalf.
- Barrier Change Boss: Dark Firus. You need a blunt damage skill, then ice magic, and finally fire magic (or any attack powerful enough to get through its enormous defense stat).
- Crazy-Prepared: He analyzed how Seiya was able to defeat Chaos Machina, so he makes Dark Firus immune to fire, which is Seiya's magic specialty. Unfortunately for him, Seiya has bracelets that can convert his fire magic into another element.
- Did Not See That Coming: He claims to have analyzed every variable and planned for every contingency. But he didn't plan for Seiya.
- Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: He learns the hard way that he shouldn't have revealed how to exploit the weakness of Dark Firus after Seiya does just that by taking advantage of the information in order to defeat the summon.
- Explaining Your Powers to the Enemy: Exploited and parodied. After Deathmagla explains in detail the only way to defeat Dark Firus, Seiya calls him out. Deathmagla retorts that it doesn't matter, as the whole process is so incredibly convoluted nobody would ever be able to single-handedly be able to use all the skills necessary to defeat it, and he just wanted to see the heroes wallow in despair at the realization of their impending doom. Naturally, he is wrong.
- Extra Eyes: He has a third eye on his forehead.
- Frontline General: Completely averted. When Seiya wipes out his undead army, Rista assumes Deathmagla must have been annihilated along with them. She's unfortunately wrong.
- Guardian Entity: Dark Firus serves this role to the noncombatant Deathmagla.
- Kick the Dog: He tortures and attempts to kill Mash in order to get back at Seiya, who destroyed his undead army. There was no practical reason to do so, as he simply wanted Seiya to be racked with guilt.
- Killed Offscreen: After Dark Firus is destroyed, he's last seen cowering before Seiya as Rista takes Mash away, before a Smash Cut to outside his castle, where his screams startle the birds.
- Mad Scientist: His forte is creating and upgrading all kinds of monsters to be much stronger than they normally are.
- Man of Kryptonite: Dark Firus was supposed to be one to Seiya - a creature that is immune to all the strong suits he displayed during the fight against Chaos Machina, and can only be killed with two abilities Deathmagla deemed him to be very unlikely to have: a special skill used primarily by unarmed combatants instead of swordsmen, and ice magic, the polar opposite to Seiya's fire magic. Thankfully, Seiya learned the unarmed combat ability anyways just in case he was ever deprived of his sword, and has items that allow him to use different types of magic, including ice.
- Necromancer: He has an army of 10,000 undead under his control.
- No-Sell: He summons Dark Firus, a fire monster designed specifically to nullify physical attacks, as well as all the elements Seiya can use. It can only be damaged by using Oscillatory Wave, a pugilist skill, to upset its molecular structure before hitting it with ice magic. Fortunately, Deathmagla gloats about all these weaknesses believing Seiya won't be able to use the necessary skills, only to be proven wrong.
- Power Levels: LV:74, HP:80,187, MP:9,215, ATK:31,559, DEF:135,875, SPD:10,741, MAG:8,377. These aren't Deathmagla's stats, but rather his monster Dark Firus's.
- Puzzle Boss: Dark Firus is almost indestructible. The keyword is almost. You need to use a very specific blunt damage skill to unbalance the creature's composition, then you need to use ice magic to convert it from fire to ice-type. This renders it vulnerable, but you still need to get past its massive defense stat to actually deal any damage, fortunately at that point it becomes weak to fire. Thankfully, Deathmagla is overconfident enough to tell the puzzle's solution to his foe.
- Support Party Member: He has basically zero combat ability himself, but specializes in creating and improving monsters and reanimating undead.
- Stupid Evil: He sends a magic mirror to Seiya so that the latter can watch him kill Mash. He doesn't realize doing so allows a very pissed off Seiya to track him down and cut him with a very long-ranged skill. He also commits the classic error of Explaining Your Powers to the Enemy.
Beel Bub

Voiced by: Kanehira Yamamoto (Japanese), Jerry Jewell (English)
A high-ranking insect demon who specializes in speed and aerial combat.- Almighty Janitor: He's not one of the four generals, but he's still a deadly enough opponent that Seiya had to go back to the Divine Realm to train.
- Ax-Crazy: He and his minions' favorite tactic is to grab humans, fly to deadly heights, and drop them on the ground while bragging about the ensuing gore.
- Bring It: He tells Seiya to take his shot at him, and he won't bother moving until after Seiya has fired all his arrows at him. He more than proves his boast by dodging seven consecutive arrows effortlessly.
- Deadly Euphemism: His "reverse fireworks". Where he and his minions grab people, flies them as high as possible and then drop them so they splat on the ground.
- Didn't See That Coming: He correctly analyzes where and how Seiya is going to attack him and dodges with ease. The one thing he didn't expect was Seiya's arrows turning around mid-flight when he wasn't paying attention.
- Flash Step: He can dodge arrows at fast speeds to the point where he looks like he's teleporting.
- Fragile Speedster: His agility stat is 487562, allowing him to dodge Seiya's arrows easily. However, his HP is only 18963 and his other stats are in the quadruple digits despite being at level 76, meaning he dies easily if he's actually hit.
- Home Field Advantage: He's unbeatable in the air thanks to his incredible speed. It doesn't even matter that the rest of his stats are crap, since his speed more than compensates for everything.
- I Know You Know I Know: Beel Bub can analyze on the spot the different possibilities on how a hero can counter him in mid-air. While holding her hostage, Rosalie accidentally reveals that Seiya trained to counter him. He then guesses that Seiya will snipe him from a distance, so Beel Bub flies up above the skies with Rosalie before attempting to drop her.
- In the Back: He thinks he can easily kill Seiya in aerial combat due to his speed. While he manages to dodge a volley of arrows from Seiya, he didn't expect the arrows to return and attack him from behind.
- Power Levels: LV:76, HP:18,963, MP:8,751, ATK:7,877, DEF:5,969, SPD:487,562, MAG:883.
- Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: His name sounds similar to Beelzebub, a demon who is also heavily associated with flies.
- Unhand Them, Villain!: When Rista demands that he lets Rosalie go, he agrees by attempting to throw her towards the ground at a speed such that Rista can't catch her. Fortunately, Seiya shoots his arm off before he can do so.
Kilkapul

Voiced by: Hitoshi Bifu (Japanese), Jeremy Inman (English)
The third general Seiya encounters.- Bait-and-Switch Boss: The bait to Crossed Thanatos's boss.
- Beneath Suspicion: He's the dwarf shopkeeper of Izale Village, and flies under the party's radar the first time they meet him because he lacks any distinguishing features.
- Chekhov's Gunman: He is first seen as the shopkeeper in Izale Village whom Seiya's party brought torches from.
- Crazy-Prepared: By summoning an adamantoise, he destroyed the legendary adamantite armor and the town where it was located even before Seiya and his party arrived.
- Enemy Summoner: He summons an adamantoise to destroy the adamantite armor, preventing Seiya from maximizing his defenses. He then summons Crossed Thanatos, a Nigh-Invulnerable foe who can follow the party back to the Divine Realm.
- Faux Affably Evil: He's calm and polite towards the party, and doesn't act different from when he was a friendly shopkeeper. However, Rista notes that there's madness lurking beneath his small smile, and he's willing to kill his village and loved ones to support the Demon Lord.
- Know When to Fold 'Em: He knew he stood absolutely no chance fighting Seiya directly, so he sacrificed himself and his family to summon something that could.
- Self-Disposing Villain: He sacrifices his family, and then himself to summon Crossed Thanatos.
- Summon Magic: He can summon powerful monsters.
- The Unfought: He's never directly fought, since he sacrifices his life to summon Crossed Thanatos.
Crossed Thanatos

A being Kilkapul refers to as the "ultra god of death."
- Bait-and-Switch Boss: The boss to Kilkapul's bait.
- Creepy Crosses: As if its Grim Reaper-like appearance wasn't creepy enough, it carries a large black cross as its name (Crossed Thanatos) indicates.
- Cross Attack: It wields a giant cross that it uses to try and crush its targets. The cross can also shoot laser beams.
- Dimensional Traveler: Crossed Thanatos enters the Divine Realm on its own, following Seiya's party.
- Fire, Ice, Lightning: Fires bolts of all three at Valkyrie. It doesn't stick.
- The Grim Reaper: Is a mysterious hooded figure that is referred to as the god of death. But instead of a scythe, it wields a large cross.
- Humanoid Abomination: More so than most humanoid demons. The party states it doesn't follow the rules of the world and any attempts to use Scan on it reveals a bunch of random characters in place of normal stat values. Worse yet, Seiya states that it doesn't have the Fake Out skill, which means the garbled strings are actually its real stats.
- Implacable Man: It just never stops coming after its designated target. Attacks do nothing to it, and it can even track and chase its prey into other dimensions. Only a conceptual killing technique from the Goddess of Destruction herself finally takes it down.
- In the Hood: It looks like a shadowy humanoid wearing a hooded robe.
- Light Is Not Good: Its cloak is entirely white, but it's the god of death summoned by Kilkapul. Appropriately enough, in many Asian cultures, the color white symbolizes death.
- Nigh-Invulnerability: Any attempt to destroy it physically or magically will result in it splitting itself and regenerating. Only Valhalla's Gate or the sacred sword Igzasion are capable of permanently killing it.
- Readings Are Off the Scale: When Seiya and Rista look at its stats, all they see is garbled error text.
- Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: In Greek mythology, Thanatos is the personification of death.
- Self-Duplication: It can split and duplicate itself whenever someone attempts to cut it. Unlike most examples of this though, it never stays that way, as the duplicates always merge back with the real one a short time afterward.
- Skull for a Head: The few times its face is shown, it has the appearance of a skull with grey skin, with its mouth being just a small line and its only facial feature being a giant black hole where its eyes should be.
- Stone Wall: Downplayed. It only deals Scratch Damage at best to Seiya (although admittedly it did not land a direct hit) and most of its techniques don't look incredibly impressive, although it's still strong enough to beat most gods (who aren't Valkyrie) with minimal effort. The real problem, however, is that it can't be damaged at all, and it takes a One-Hit Kill that transcends the fabric of time and space to kill absolutely to finally put it to rest.
- The Speechless: It cannot speak at all.
Eraser Kaiser

Voiced by: Hiroshi Tsuchida (Japanese), Marcus D. Stimac (English)
The fourth and final demon general.- Adaptational Wimp: In the anime adaptation, he doesn't even get a chance to properly fight before he's unceremoniously killed off.
- Blood Knight: He's initially disappointed that he has to fight the elderly Emperor Roseguard, but is pleased when his opponent turns out to be stronger than he looks.
- Early-Bird Cameo: His silhouette can be seen at the end of episode 6 alongside the Demon Lord after they finished constructing Chain Destruction.
- Locked Out of the Loop: Apparently, the Demon Lord never told him that Emperor Roseguard was on their side.
- Multi-Armed and Dangerous: He has a different weapon in each of his six arms.
- Power Levels: LV:88, HP:245,842 MP:98,564, ATK:218,333, DEF:207,465, SPD:140,251, MAG:87,654.
- The Unfought: Seiya never gets to fight him since he's fought and killed by Emperor Roseguard. Instead, he gets to fight the even more powerful demonic Emperor Roseguard.
- We Hardly Knew Ye: He's mentioned once by Kilkapul, but gets little screentime before he's killed by Emperor Roseguard.
- The Worf Effect: Stat-wise, he's supposed to be the strongest of the demon generals, but is easily defeated by Emperor Roseguard to establish that the latter is Gaeabrande's strongest human.
Lucifer Crowe
Xenosload's rival who sealed her away long ago out of fear.
- Benevolent Boss: To demons at least. She's patient and willing to listen to her underlings, and rescues them from a parasitic dragonnewt by using an attack that will harm it but not fellow demons.
- Death from Above: Her Signature Move Diablos Rain summons a giant sphere covered in eyes that identifies all her enemies before striking them with dark magic arrows.
- Game Face: She appears to be a beautiful, diginified harpy, but once Seiya proves himself to be a danger to her, her true demonic face and personality surface.
- Gender-Blender Name: Her namesake is male.
- Harping on About Harpies: She's a beautiful harpy demon, though her real face is much uglier.
- Human Popsicle: She's used as a punching bag for Seiya's new powers that allow him to switch from fire to ice magic. After she's completely frozen, Seiya smashes her to pieces then incinerates them with his usual fire bombing.
- Meet the New Boss: She's revived in Warped Gaeabrande to serve as the new Demon Lord after Xenosload is killed by the Dragon Lord.
- Power Levels: Lv:99(MAX), HP:1,152,047, MP:254,528, ATK:899,777, DEF:750,121, SPD:919,876, MAG:185,411, GRW:999(MAX).
- Sealed Evil in a Can: Xenosload sealed her underneath a magic sealing stone long ago out of fear of her power. In the regular Gaeabrande, she's still stuck in there, but in the Warped Gaeabrande, she's provided enough human sacrifices to revive her.
- So Last Season: Her stats are on par with the SS-ranked Demon Lord Ultimaeus and the four demon emperors of Ixphoria. Of course, Seiya's already surpassed them by the time he fights her, so she goes down easily without landing a single blow on him.
Warped World
Marionelda
The Devil of Enchantment and a servant of Mersais.- Arc Villainess: She is the true main antagonist of the Warped Gaeabrande arc, disguising herself as Elulu's spirit in order to corrupt Mash.
- Dark Is Evil: Unlike Mash and the Dragon Mother, she exclusively uses dark powers and is weak to holy magic.
- Master of Illusion: She can create horrifying illusions where her opponents think they're being eaten by maggots.
- Squishy Wizard: Compared to past arc final bosses, she isn't as directly powerful and can't put up a fight when Seiya closes in on her. However, her illusions are potent enough to stop everyone but Seiya dead in their tracks.
- Walking Spoiler: She only has a proper introduction as the surprise antagonist of the Warped Gaeabrande arc, making her existence a spoiler.
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: She bites Mash's neck after he fails to defeat Seiya.
Ixphoria
Ixphoria Allies
Jonde
A Termine general who got turned into a zombie for the sake of hazing new beastkin recruits.- Attractive Zombie: He's handsome looking for a zombie, at least according to the light novel illustrations. Too bad being a zombie means he'll always have bad body odor.
- Butt-Monkey: Not only does Rista fail to send him to the afterlife, Seiya has a habit of splashing him with tea whenever he gets annoying.
- Covert Pervert: When Seiya creates a giant golem of Rista, Jonde keeps trying to look up the golem's skirt.
- Death Seeker: He wants to be properly sent to heaven so he doesn't have to live as a zombie and eventually lose his sanity.
- Doomed Moral Victor: He's killing as many beastkin as he can, even though it won't change the situation.
- Facepalm of Doom: He kills a rat beastkin by crushing the latter's head with one hand. According to his status screen, he's using a skill called Death Squeeze.
- Friendly Zombie: He's an intelligent zombie, but it's only a matter of time before his sanity wears away and he's reduced to mindlessly attacking everyone around him, which is why he wants to be purified and sent to the afterlife.
- Ignored Enamored Underling: He admits he had a crush on Princess Tiana, but his feeling won't be reciprocated because she's attracted to Seiya even after her reincarnation.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While he's still cross with Seiya for failing to save Ixphoria in his previous summoning and constantly bickers with him, Jonde also makes an effort to try to understand the reasoning behind Seiya's actions, expressing sympathy towards the latter for having to make tough decisions.
- Mighty Glacier: He has high attack and defense, but his speed is only in the triple digits. This is because the undead are naturally slow, and he's further hindered by the ball and chain on his ankle.
- One Curse Limit: His curse of undeath prevents him from being cursed again by Celemonic.
- Overshadowed by Awesome: His stats are somewhat high for someone at level 59, having over 100k attack. While these stats can handle most beastkin, they can't make a dent in the demon emperors.
- Power Levels: LV: 59, HP:172,234, MP:0, ATK:119,874, DEF:98,111, SPD: 282, MAG:0, GRW:698.
- Running Gag: Whenever Seiya finds Jonde annoying, he pours tea on the general.
- Sliding Scale of Undead Regeneration: Undead with high stats like Jonde possess the special ability Corpse Regeneration that lets them heal quickly as long as they're not in battle.
Kiriko
The only sentient Killing Machine other than Machine Emperor Oxerio.- Can't Live Without You: Her soul is tied to Ultimaeus, which means she dies when he dies.
- Children Are Innocent: She's a pacifistic robot containing the soul of Seiya and Tiana's unborn child.
- Face Death with Dignity: When Seiya chooses to kill Ultimaeus at the cost of her life, Kiriko accepts her fate and states that she's happy Seiya and Rista are her parents
- Feed the Mole: Played with. All of her senses are transmitted to Oxerio, allowing him to gain information through her. However, she isn't aware of this until Seiya explains his deductions. Seiya takes advantage of this by faking flaws in his golems and earth magic in front of Kiriko, causing Oxerio to be fooled too.
- Morality Pet: Once Seiya learns that Kiriko was once a human and is Good All Along, he treats her more kindly than the rest of the party. This is because he realized that she's actually his and Tiana's unborn daughter.
- Nice Girl: She's unwilling to attack people despite Oxerio's orders, attempts to talk Oxerio into making peace with humans, and shows gratitude towards the party for accepting her. This makes her death at the end of the arc all the more sadder.
- Power Levels: LV:20, HP:138,954, MP:0, ATK:85,121, DEF:98,654, SPD:85,742.
- Sheep in Sheep's Clothing: The story gives off the impression that Kiriko is faking her kindness to make the party drop their guard. While she is feeding information to Oxerio, she isn't doing so willingly. She really is as kindhearted as her status window indicates.
Carmilla
The queen of Termine and mother of Princess Tiana, who is tortured in the beastkin's Fool's Tower.- Nerves of Steel: She resists crying despite being tortured, only crying when Grandleon destroys a doll that Tiana gave her.
- Nice Girl: She's kind and understanding as long as she's not talking to a demon, and even then, she warms up to Rista's fish form after realizing she can trust the latter. When Rista wonders if she's a burden to Seiya, Carmilla assures her that Seiya needs her as a pillar of emotional support, even if they bicker a lot.
- Secret Secret-Keeper: After Ixphoria is saved, the queen remarks that Rista gave her a bigger doll this time, implying she knows Rista is Tiana reincarnated as a goddess.
- Jerkass Has a Point: It's hard to fault them for rejecting Seiya and the gods after they failed to save Ixphoria. Seiya himself doesn't argue with their criticism and hates his past self just as much, if not more.
- Pet the Dog: They express a bit of sympathy after Seiya beats up Rista.
- Ungrateful Bastard: Played with. While Seiya did fail to bring back all Bunogeos's slaves, Braht and most of the townspeople aren't even thankful for the one slave that Seiya did save. However, some of them, such as Father Luke and Enzo, are willing to cooperate with Seiya. They eventually drop this trope when Seiya reports Grandleon's death, causing them to regain their faith in him.
Eich
An earth mage who uses her magic to create Little Light's underground shelter in Galvano. She is also the younger sister of Colt.- Dishing Out Dirt: Her main element is earth, allowing her to create tunnels and instantly create entrances to the underground.
- Not So Stoic: She breaks her calm front when she tearfully recounts how Seiya promised to fight alongside her brother and save the world, only for Colt to get killed.
- The Promise: Seiya promises her that he'll at least free Galvano from the beastkin, which he succeeds in doing halfway into Volume 3.
- Tears of Joy: She cries tears of happiness when she learns Seiya defeated Grandleon.
Ixphoria Demons
Ultimaeus
Voiced by: Yutaka Aoyama (Japanese), Tyler Walker (English)
- Bad Boss: In Volume 5, he kills his remaining subordinates in order to test his new powers.
- The Bad Guy Wins: The reason Ixphoria is a hellhole is because Seiya failed to defeat him the first time and fell by his hand.
- Can't Live Without You: All the monsters he created after he conquered Ixphoria and the souls placed into killer robots are tied to his life, which means when he dies, they all die. Unfortunately, this includes Kiriko, the robot reincarnation of Seiya and Tiana's daughter.
- Clipped-Wing Angel: After his time-stopping form is defeated, Ultimaeus reverts back to the multi-armed form he took as a B-ranked Demon Lord, which isn't strong enough to pose a threat to Seiya.
- Die Laughing: He initially has a Villainous Breakdown when Seiya starts finishing him off, but then he realizes his energy is flowing back to his god and master, Mersais, causing him to gloat that his side will win in the end.
- Frog Men: In the anime, he's portrayed as a giant four-armed toad beastkin.
- Hero Killer: He killed Seiya's party during the previous quest to save Ixphoria.
- Informed Ability: He's stated to be stronger than Gaeabrande's Demon Lord, yet during his rematch with Seiya, he never displays any world-destroying power like Judgement Zero.
- Maou the Demon King: He's the Demon Lord of Ixphoria, who is dedicated to making the world a living hell for all non-demons in the name of his evil deity.
- Names to Run Away from Really Fast: His name sounds like "ultimate" and he's a Demon Lord. Even during his B-ranked days, he lives up to his name by successfully killing Seiya's party and conquering the world.
- Physical God: His two strongest forms utilize divine energy, making him a god who is immune to all elements except darkness.
- Power Levels: LV:99(MAX), HP:1,092,174, MP:354,788, ATK:817,772, DEF:806,584, SPD:789,834, MAG:265,473, GRW:999 (MAX). Note these stats are from one year ago right after he defeated Seiya's party and powered up by receiving the Dark God's Blessing. Unfortunately, he has Fake Out by the time Seiya faces him again in Volume 5, meaning his fully updated stats are never revealed.
- Took a Level in Badass: After conquering Ixphoria, he was given power by his evil deity, turning him from a B-ranked Demon Lord to a SS-ranked Demon Lord. After viewing an outdated snapshot of Ultimaeus's post-conquest stats, Seiya states that he's stronger than Gaeabrande's Demon Lord.
- Video-Game Lives: He had at least two lives when he first fought Seiya. During the rematch, he has several lives, each with their own abilities and damage immunities.
- Villains Want Mercy: He tries to beg Seiya to spare him and states that because Kiriko's life is tied to his, they should just form a truce. However, Seiya already realized he can't save Kiriko's soul, so he kills Ultimaeus anyways.
Bunogeos
- Anti-Magic: His skin can nullify magic attacks, but the inside of his stomach can't.
- Ax-Crazy: He's a literal example of this, being an axe-wielding brute who secretly enjoys eating humans and butchers humans for accidentally touching him.
- Bad Boss: Zigzagged. On one hand, he's hypocritical towards his minions by banning them from eating humans while secretly eating humans behind their backs. On the other hand, he does show some sorrow when Seiya kills them.
- Belly Mouth: He has a mouth on his stomach that can suck things in like a vacuum.
- Dumb Muscle: He loses track of how many of his minions were killed by Seiya, showing that he's bad at logistics. He's still a powerful enemy who surpasses all the generals of Gaeabrande. When Seiya impersonates him, he intentionally fails to answer Grandleon's question about the bodycount in order to stay in character.
- Elite Mook: He's not one of the Four Emperors, but his stats are still on par with Seiya at level 99 and Wohlk's demon form at level 90, despite being only level 67.
- Feed It a Bomb: Seiya turns his Belly Mouth attack against him by sending in some earth snakes. Once they're inside, they chew up his vulnerable organs.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: He seems calm and pragmatic at first, but angers easily, as shown when he kills a woman for touching him.
- Hypocrite: He tells his minions not to eat human slaves because they're more useful alive. It's an open secret that he privately eats humans, which is why his minions aren't keen on following that rule.
- Mighty Glacier: His speed is low compared to his attack and defense. He makes up for it with his Belly Mouth, which can suck in enemies until they're in range of his axe.
- One-Winged Angel: Defied. He attempts to eat his spell stone to achieve his second form, but an earth snake hiding in his body destroys the stone.
- Power Levels: LV:67, HP:338,547, MP:0, ATK:300,019, DEF:258,344, SPD:77,777, MAG:794, GRW:674.
- Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth: Played for laughs. He attempts to eat Rista, but decides against it due to her foul odor. Rista is so offended that she demands he eats her.
Grandleon
- Antagonistic Offspring: He was created by Ultimaeus, but cares nothing for his creator and seeks to overthrow him.
- Big Bad Wannabe: Despite wanting to become the next Demon Lord, he would never be able to defeat Ultimaeus or the last two emperors because of their defensive abilities. Not to mention all demons created by Ultimaeus after he conquered Ixphoria contain his power, and can't survive his death.
- Faux Affably Evil: When he first meets Seiya, he tries to butter the latter up by complimenting him on his abilities and offering to team up and kill Ultimaeus. This is just a ruse to get Seiya to drop his guard, though Seiya isn't fooled.
- King of Beasts: He's a lion and the strongest beastkin who rules over them all.
- Lightning Bruiser: All his stats except magic are well balanced at around 800k.
- One-Winged Angel: Unlike Bunogeos, Grandleon doesn't need to consume a spell stone to achieve a stronger form. His Beast Hazard form gives him a more chimera-like appearance while increasing his stats. His attack surpasses one million, forcing Seiya to push his Berserk state further in order to keep up.
- Physical God: His stats rival that of Adenela's after she's unleashed her true power with Order.
- Power Levels:
- LV:99(MAX), HP:1,200,044, MP:0, ATK:856,121, DEF:819,637, SPD:807,711, MAG:58,754, GRW:999(MAX).
- LV:99(MAX), HP:1,200,044, MP:0, ATK:1,023,987, DEF:998,596, SPD:938,855, MAG:58,754, GRW:999(MAX). In Beast Hazard Mode.
- Reincarnation: He discusses this and hypothesizes that he hates humans because he was killed by one in his previous life. It's implied that he was the lion chimera Seiya killed in his first visit to Ixphoria since it has the same wings and snake tail that Grandleon does in Beast Hazard mode.
- Sadist: He only keeps Queen Carmilla alive so he can torture her, and only wants to execute her when she finally cries.
- Sink-or-Swim Mentor: Combined with Bad Boss. He tests new recruits by having them fight Jonde, who kills most challengers.
- The Starscream: He wants to organize his own army to usurp Ultimaeus.
- Taking You with Me: After Seiya defeats him, Grandleon attempts to kill Rista just to spite him. Fortunately, Seiya planted an earth snake in Rista to protect her and finish off Grandleon.
- Unskilled, but Strong: Downplayed. Stat-wise, he's the only one of the emperors who can go toe-to-toe with Seiya's berserker mode, but he also has the least diverse skillset and no damage-immunity abilities. However, he's still smart enough to see through Seiya's Counter Break and avoid attacking the limb that's targeted by the technique.
Oxerio

- Beam Spam: His main form of offense is to shoot lasers. Too bad Seiya can deflect all of them back at him.
- Damage-Sponge Boss: He has a whopping 3.5 million HP, on top of having already prodigous stats.
- Humongous Mecha: When Seiya defeats most of his army, Oxerio enlarges himself in order to defeat Seiya's golems.
- Power Levels: LV:99(MAX), HP:3,487,570, MP:42,475, ATK:794,525, DEF:858,965, SPD:587,544, MAG:85,754, GRW:999(MAX).
- Psychic Link: He can sense anything his minions sense, but not the other way around. Seiya exploits this by presenting false information to Kiriko.
- Taking You with Me: Seiya thinks he'll try to self-destruct like many fictional machine enemies. It's ambiguous if Oxerio really has that ability, since it's unknown if the explosion from his death is due to his own mechanisms or from Seiya's Crimson Boom.
- Dying Curse: After Rista kills her, Celemonic places the Bloody Systeria curse on Rista, which kills her within a time limit and won't be lifted until Rista dies. Killing Rista's astral soul doesn't fool the curse, but showing Tiana's death does. Unfortunately, Mersais revives Celemonic's spirit to attempt the curse again, but Seiya manages to defeat her with Astral Break and the Hexagram Ritual of Retribution.
- Holy Burns Evil: Her Dark Resilience special ability means her HP will never reach 0 unless she's finished off by a holy-type attack.
- Kill One, Others Get Stronger: She gets stronger every time one of her heads is destroyed, since she wants to avenge the fallen heads. It doesn't matter if she's the one who crushes her own heads, since she'll make someone else the target of her vengeance.
- Multiple Head Case: She has three heads: Shanak, Celena, and Monica. Each of them has a different personality and are willing to kill each other to become stronger.
- Number of the Beast: All of her stats have only the number 6 in them.
- Portmanteau: Celemonic's name is a mashup of her two remaining heads, Celena and Monica.
- Power Levels: LV:99(MAX), HP:666,666, MP:66,666, ATK:666,666, DEF:666,666, SPD:666,666, MAG:6,666, GRW:999(MAX).
- Sadist: All of her curses are designed to make her victims die painfully, and she dislikes fighting golems because they don't have feelings.
- Walking Wasteland: All plants wilt in her presence, which is what allows the party to identify her as Celemonic.
- Weak, but Skilled: She's weaker than Oxerio and Grandleon in terms of stats, but her curse abilities allow her to be a menace from beyond the grave. She can also pull tricks such as tracing the source of surveillance abilities and teleporting to that source.
- Achilles' Heel: His ghost form can only be harmed with spirit-type magic and attacks, and his mummy form is weak to fire. His skeleton form is half-physical, half-spirit, so pure spirit-type magic can't harm it, he needs to be attacked with both at the same time or a weapon infused with spiritual energy.
- Clothing Combat: His mummy form uses his bandages to attack Seiya.
- Dem Bones: After Seiya kills him once and he uses Cemetery: Night Again to resurrect himself, he takes the form of a horned black skeleton.
- Hope Crusher: He revives the people of Fulwahna as humans, not undead and alters their memories so that they believe Seiya defeated Ultimaeus. He later cuts them off from the Dark God's power to return them to sand and not even Seiya's new spirit abilities can save them. Worse yet, he restores their memories at the last minute in order to make them die again with despair.
- Interface Screw: Like Seiya, he has the Fake Out skill, preventing anyone from using a lower level Scan on him.
- Mummy: His first physical form.
- Necromancer: His greatest spell Cemetery: Night Again can resurrect every monster killed in Ixphoria so long as a small part of their body remains, and grants them a boost in all stats except speed and Corpse Regeneration. This includes the other three demon emperors Seiya already killed, which would make beating him flat out impossible. However, it's useless because Seiya always takes care to dispose the corpses of every monster he killed, so there's nothing to bring back. He can still use it on himself for self-resurrection.
- One-Winged Angel: His skeleton form he takes after he resurrects is half-spirit, half-physical, meaning an attack must have both attributes if it is to harm him.
- Our Ghosts Are Different: He initially takes the form of a ghost, but is forced into his mummy after Seiya constantly attacks him with swords infused with his spiritual energy.
- Sliding Scale of Undead Regeneration: He also has Corpse Regeneration, except his version heals so fast that Seiya has trouble outpacing it, and he can boost it even faster with Permanent Rot. Seiya instead opts to beat him with a massive Charged Attack so Sirrusht has no time to heal.
