A group of animals who had enough of their dreary lifes and want to become famous musicans.
- From Zero to Hero: They start out as a bunch of animals with miserable home lives, but later save other animals from their dark fates.
- Hope Bringer: They are the first who dare to sing in Bremen in a long time.
- Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: They are unlikely heroes, but they save hundreds of animals and the entire city of Bremen from Dr. Greed's evil plans.
Fred the Donkey

- Distressed Dude: He gets captured by the Mix-Max workers, but a swarm of friendly wasps help him escape from the truck he was trapped in.
- Working-Class Hero: Lived most of his life as a poor farm animal.
Gwendolyn the Cat
Voiced by: Sandra Schwarzhaupt (Ger), Oleta Adams (En)
- Adaptational Wealth: In the original story, there was no mention of the cat coming from a rich family.
- Interspecies Romance: With Buster, who is a hound dog.
- The Smart Guy: She's the first one to question the Mix-Max cooperation evil intentions.
- The Smurfette Principle: She's the only female main character.
- Spoiled Sweet: She lived most of her life with her rich owner Wanda, but is very nice and not snobby at all.
- Team Mom: In line with her "Smart Guy" role mentioned above, she cares a lot for the other team members (especially Fred) and comes up with their strategies to rebel against Mix Max.
Buster the Dog
Voiced by: Bernd Schramm (Ger), James Ingram (En)
- Berserk Button: He turns into a literal wild monster if someone pulls his tail.
- Friend to All Living Things: He's supposed to be a hunting dog, but couldn't hurt any animals.
- Heroic Dog: Was the first to want to help out the animals still imprisoned by the Mix Max company.
- Interspecies Romance: At the end of the movie, he and Gwen sing a love ballade.
Tortellini the Rooster
Voiced by: Joachim Kemmer (Ger), Zucchero (En)
- Adaptational Comic Relief: The rooster in the original story wasn't established as a straight-up funny character.
- Butt-Monkey: He is usually the target of slapstick.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He starts of as rather unsympathetic, but gets better.
- Large Ham: Fittingly for an opera singer.
Mozart
Voiced by: Ranja Helmi (Ger), Kathleen Barr (En)
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Although he prefers that the team listens or sings his song, he still helps them nonetheless.
- Named After Someone Famous: Well duh.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Quite literally. In the American cut most of the epilogue was cut, resulting in him just disappearing out of the story.
Dr. Greed
Voiced by: Peer Augustinski (Ger), Ian James Corlett (En)
- Big Bad: He is the main villain of the movie.
The Evil Heiress
Voiced by: Katharina Thalbach (Ger), Louise Vallance (En)
- Bad People Abuse Animals: She tries to kill Gwendolyn.
- Greed: Her main characteristic.
- Laser-Guided Karma: She and her greedy family get locked in the basement by Gwendolyn before she makes her escape.
