Macon Ravenwood
Lena's uncle, and her guardian during the events of the first book. Macon is an Incubus.
- Abusive Parents: Or rather 'abusive parent'. His father Silas was physically abusive toward Macon and Hunting while they were living at Ravenwood with him as children.
- Back from the Dead: Comes back to life at the end of Beautiful Darkness.
- Badass in Distress: Is trapped in an Arclight for the majority of Beautiful Darkness. Ethan, Liv, Ridley and Link have to free him from it in order to continue their quest to the Great Barrier.
- Big Good: Is mostly this in the first book but cements himself in the role after his resurrection.
- Black-and-White Morality: Is prone to this, alone with the Light Casters in Lena's family, as he rejects Ridley after she sneaks into Ravenwood during the Gathering Day in Beautiful Creatures.
- Break Her Heart to Save Her: He broke up with Jane to protect her from himself after his Transformation into a Blood Incubus, breaking both their hearts in the process.
- Came Back Strong: After his resurrection at the end of Beautiful Darkness, Macon not only becomes a Light Caster but also obtains powerful abilities that he never had before as an Incubus.
- Dark Is Not Evil: He is a Dark creature, an Incubus, but chooses to side with the Light.
- Hates Their Parent: Does not have a good relationship with his father Silas.
- I Own This Town: Initially, Macon isolates himself from the rest of the town and the locals certainly don't feel like he has any power over them. This rapidly changes once they try to have his niece expelled from school in a Kangaroo Court hearing. Macon is happy to remind the school board and the crowd that he owns a great deal of Gatlin County's real estate. He makes it clear that if they give him a reason to, he could force all of the businesses who are renting land from him to close down and sell undeveloped land to people who they don't want in their town (Walmart in the book, and a drug rehabilitation center in the film).
- Misunderstood Loner with a Heart of Gold: Macon hasn't left his manor (aboveground, at least) for as long as anyone seems to be able to remember. Naturally he develops a bizarre reputation in town, but turns out to be polite and thoughtful in person. He's also quite aware of this trope, going so far as to name his dog Boo Radley.
- Papa Wolf: Will stop at nothing to protect Lena and make sure she is Claimed for the Light, even if it means his own death.
- Parents as People: Even though he cares deeply about Lena, he is overprotective of her in Beautiful Creatures. His attempts to protect Lena before her Claiming and keep her and Ethan apart end up driving her away from him.
- Parental Substitute: Is this for Lena, as she looks up to him as a father figure.
- Southern Gentleman: Macon is a kind-hearted, immaculately dressed man who is quite courteous and eloquent, both when he wants to be friendly and when he's being snarky to his enemies.
- Star-Crossed Lovers: Macon and Jane are this. Although they wanted to find a way to be together,
- The Lost Lenore: Jane is this for him. Even after she married another man and eventually died, Macon never stopped loving her.
- Troubled, but Cute: Was this as a young man, when he was dealing with his upcoming Transformation and how it meant he could never truly be with Jane.
- White Sheep: Is the only Incubus in the Ravenwood Blood Incubus line who chose to side with the Light.
Arelia Valentin
Mother of Hunting, Macon and Leah, and former wife of Silas Ravenwood. Arelia is a renowned clairvoyant within the Caster community. She settled in New Orleans with Leah after escaping her abusive husband.
Twyla Valentin
Lena's great-aunt and Arelia's sister. Twyla plays a major role during the climax of Beautiful Darkness but sadly perishes when Lena Claims herself for both Light and Dark.
Leah Ravenwood
A Light Succubus who aids Ethan, Liv, Link and Ridley during their attempt to rescue Lena at the Great Barrier in Beautiful Creatures. She is the sister of Macon and Hunting and the daughter of Arelia and Silas.
- Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: Zigzagged. Leah is implied to be a blood-feeding succubus rather than one who subsists on dreams. However, she's still aligned with the Light Casters in her family, opposes Abraham and never threatens their mortal friends.
Duchannes
Emmaline Duchannes
Lena's grandmother. Is also called "Gramma". She looked after both Lena and Ridley when the two were growing up and acted as their guardian during that time.
Delphine "Del" Duchannes
Lena's aunt and the mother of Ridley, Reece, Ryan and Larkin. She is a Palimpsest, which causes her to be perpetually confused about where she is in time and space.
Barclay Kent
Del's husband and father of Ridley, Reece, Ryan and Larkin. He is a Shifter.
Reece Duchannes
Lena's oldest cousin. She is a Sybil, meaning she can see what a person has been doing by looking at their face. She isn't a very nice person.
Ryan Duchannes
Lena's sweet and pure-hearted ten-year-old cousin. Her Caster gift is unknown at first. It's eventually discovered that she is a healer.
- Cryptic Background Reference: Duchannes children aren't supposed to live with their parents before their claiming, but Ryan is allowed to. It's never explained why, with Lena merely commenting that she's a "special case."
