Affiliation: Themis Law Firm, NXX
Foreign names: N/A
Birthday: N/A
Height:
Voiced by: N/A

The player character, attorney-at-law at the Themis Law Firm.

  • Code Name: Following her induction into the NXX, she chooses her codename as 'Rosa'.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Tends to have this dynamic with Marius.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: She has no canon name, which the player must provide in the prologue.
  • Meaningful Name: Her codename is chosen in the first place to give her Flower Motifs, but the phrase 'sub rosa' also denotes a confidential conversation.
  • Plucky Girl: Not much gets in her way in the pursuit of truth and justice as a lawyer. She can go toe-to-toe with murderers and other criminals during court and investigations with little outward distress. Even when Luke tries to dissuade her from joining the NXX in Chapter 5, she remains insistent, telling him that she was the one who made the decision herself.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead Has auburn hair and peridot-colored eyes (to fit with the gemstone colors of the Love Interests.)
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Not to the extent of Vyn, though. She reserves her glasses for the courtroom, where her deductive reasoning shines its brightest.
  • Something about a Rose: Her Flower Motifs after chosing her codename.

    Artem Wing

Affiliation: Themis Law Firm, NXX
Foreign names: Sakyo Shizuma note  (Japanese), Zuo Ran note  (Chinese), Baek Eun-hoo note  (Korean), Tả Nhiên
Birthday: April 24th (Taurus, age 29)
Height: 182 cm
Voiced by: Jun'ichi Suwabe (Japanese), Jang Min-hyeok (Korean)

Senior attorney at Themis Law Firm and the protagonist's superior. A skilled lawyer with a near-perfect 99% win rate in his career.

  • The Ace: Despite his age, he’s already a senior attorney at his law firm, the superior of the MC who is only a few years his junior. He’s taken on and won enough cases to make quite a name for himself despite only being in his late twenties.
  • Can't Hold His Liquor: The story of the card ‘Atmospherics’, he got drunk after drinking a glass of wine in the place of the MC, after being offer by a tv star.
  • Code Name: In the NXX Investigation Team he goes by Libra.
  • Informed Attribute: Before getting to know him better as the main story progresses, the MC often describes Artem as her work superior with a cold and unapproachable demeanor, despite him never being anything but polite and even warm and considerate to her in-game. Then again, it could be because it is her that we never see Artem as anything but a gentleman.
    • The story of the card 'Sparks' addresses this, as it's apparently an in-universe reputation he's built up. It's shown that he can be strict to the employees, and that it hinders them so much that they don't really want to approach him even on a vacation.
  • The Stoic: Artem keeps a cool head in and out of work, though he stumbles when it comes to things like romance.

    Luke Pearce
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/xy_sprite.png

Affiliation: NXX
Foreign names: Minase Natsuhiko note  (Japanese), Xia Yan note  (Chinese), Kang Hyeok note  (Korean), Hạ Ngạn
Birthday: December 5th (Sagittarius, age 24)
Height: 180 cm
Voiced by: Yuki Kaji (Japanese) note , Kim Ji-yeol (Korean)

Childhood friend of the protagonist and a private investigator. A graduate of National Central University, reuniting with the protagonist eight years after going separate ways to pursue bioengineering.

  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's nothing short of nice, reliable, and warm. He'll help out strangers whenever he can. However, he can be shrewd, cunning and even sly if he wants to, and has the experience of a secret agent. This is exemplified in Lost Gold, where he threatens Joshua.
  • Butt-Monkey: Sometimes things just don't go the way they should in his side stories.
    • In his 1-7 side-story, he offers to cook steamed tangerine crab for lunch, despite not knowing how to properly use a steamer. It goes about as well as one would expect, crabs slowly trying to take over the kitchen.
    • In the "Shape of You" card story, he attempts to win a ring toss game in a festival. Unfortunately, a ring he tossed hits a goose by the neck, and is immediately hunted down by said angry goose.
  • Code Name: In the NXX, he goes by Raven
  • Childhood Friends: With the protagonist, though the two were out of contact for years after high school.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: With the MC, considering he’s one of the four main guys and this is an otome game. It’s unclear for how long he’s felt this way but it’s implied to have been at least since they were in high school.
  • Hypocrite: Scolds the protagonist for constantly putting herself in harms way and keeping secrets from him all while he risks himself for her several times and is keeping the secret of his upcoming death from her.
  • Meaningful Name: His Chinese name uses the same 'xia' as in 'xia luo ke', the Chinese rendition of the name 'Sherlock'. It means 'summer'; and his full name means 'summer boy'. 'Luo ke' can also be rendered as 'Luke'.
    • His Japanese name renders it as 'Natsuhiko', possibly referring to Kyougoku Natsuhiko, a known writer of mystery novels.
  • One Note Chef: Self-proclaimed. In his side-story, he mentions that the only thing he can cook really good is tomato omelette.
  • Private Detective: His job, one that he dreamed of being since high school.
  • Pursue the Dream Job: He went to study biotechnology, but ended up being a Private Detective by way of this. Or so he says.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: As revealed in 1-1 of his personal story, Luke only has about 3 years left to live, although the reason why this is the case has yet to be revealed. However, this is part of the reason why he had intended to distance himself away from the protagonist.
    • The last part of chapter 2 of his personal story reveals that it's a result of breathing in poison gas, which killed his teammates.

    Vyn Richter
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/my_sprite.png

Affiliation: Giannovyn Research Center, NXX
Foreign names: Moritsuki Rei note (Japanese), Mo Yi note  (Chinese), Yoon Noa note (Korean), Mạc Dịch
Birthday: September 27th (Libra, age 27)
Height: 178 cm
Voiced by: Jun Fukuyama (Japanese), Hwang Changyeong (Korean)

A psychiatrist with keen emotional senses. Specializing in criminal psychology, he can pick up even the slightest emotional anomalies when it comes to questioning.

  • Badass Bookworm: Vyn exhibits a surprising amount of physical finesse, including but not limited to fencing, archery, and survival skills.
  • Beneath Notice: Averted hard. Because of his unusual coloring, eye-catching good looks and his visibly Eurasian appearance, Vyn tends to attract attention whereever he goes.
  • Birthday Hater: Downplayed. During his birthday event, he comments he's not too fond of birthdays because of the false displays of wealth and kindness exhibited to celebrate it. The private one the protagonist sets up, however does make it the first one he's enjoyed having.
  • Blind Without 'Em He suffers from severe myopia.
  • Blue Blood: Vyn is an aristocrat born from one of the most noble and powerful Houses in the story.
  • But Not Too Foreign: His father is revealed to be a foreigner. In the story of 'Lingering Warmth', Carl also talks to him in a foreign language and calls him 'Vilhelm', which may be his true name.
  • Code Name: He goes by Adjudicator in NXX.
  • Crazy-Prepared: In Lost Gold, he has a foldable bow, arrows, and metal cable in his backpack, as part of what is implied to be his normal outdoorsman's kit. In his Love Song for Skadi SSR story card, Blazing Colors, Vyn before you go on vacation with him to a volcanic island to visit his friend, has made note of the fact that there aren't enough boats to get the entire population off the island, made a point of looking up the military history of the place and its hidden airfield, and just in case the rescue helicopters can't make it, made a call 'to a friend' to have military helicopters on standby in the off chance the local volcano erupts. Which of course it does.
  • Deadpan Snarker As befitting of a classic gentleman. Marius and Artem, but Marius especially, has the tendency to evoke this from Vyn, as well as...
  • Disapproving Look Not really a surprise since he often has to deal with Marius. Out of the male lead cast, Vyn has the most expressive eyes, the light fading from his eyes in a Death Glare, but he is well and truly pissed off when he exhibits a Kubrick Stare. His sprite exhibits a particular smiling expression in Medieval Suspense at one point, truly scaring the other actor.
  • Genius Bruiser: Despite his gentlemanly behavior, ethereal, almost elfin appearance and refined hobbies, you discover in his card story Gentleman's Game that he is a skilled fencer and duelist and implied to have never lost a duel. In Vyn's Lost Gold route, you discover that despite Marius' mocking him as frail, Vyn is a very skilled archer, outdoorsman and survivalist, and used to spend his autumns hunting in the forested mountains of his homeland. He mentions being very good at horseback archery. Later he brings out a bow and uses it to create a zipline... and then carries the MC and their packs as he ziplines across a ravine to the opposite cliff. And shrugs off hitting the mountain with his back. Slightly subverted in that it's implied that by Battle Butler Ogier's standards, Vyn has gotten rusty in his time away from Svart and needs to be taught to fight again. While we do not see this, Vyn does demonstrate what he has learned later on to great effect, shocking even Darius and the gangsters Vyn takes down by the batch lot in two blows.
  • Guile Hero Shares this trait with Marius.
  • Heroic Bastard: Due to political scheming, Vyn's parents were forbidden from marrying, and his mother, a woman from an old scholarly but commoner family from Stellis 'abandoned their love' - and little Vilhelm.
  • Hidden Depths: There is a very good reason why he has the pastimes, mannerisms, bearing, and speech of a displaced European aristocrat, specifically from the Kingdom of Svart. First hinted at in Gentleman's Game, and heavily implied to be a fact in the end of the Lost Gold story. He admits to the MC in the card, Food For Thought, that he is an aristocrat by birth, with a severely bare-bones rendition of his past. In his second birthday card, Fetters of the Past, you meet his father, An Officer And A Gentleman Eirik Haspran, the Duke of Haspran and a formidable military commander, who may possibly command the entire Svart military.
  • Hot Teacher: He is called one of the four hottest teachers in Stellis University and even has a fanclub.
  • I Have No Son!: Vyn's mother doesn't want anyone 'unrelated to know about their real relationship' and seems to treat him coldly, demanding this when he requests her permission to take her surname. Per the artbook, almost as a recompensation for the denial of ties, Vyn's mother gives him a mansion in the Victorian district. However, he does not live in it and instead buys a house with his own earnings and savings, and later turns the mansion and its surrounding gardens into the NXX's base. It is shown in some small way that she does care for Vyn, by granting him all his requests, even though she jabs at him for calling her only when he needs something, as well as expressing worry about the wounds he sustained in the latter parts of his fourth personal story chapter. Vyn's response to this is to poke at his mother for this show of motherly concern. They have a bit of a tsundere relationship.
  • Irony: He's by far the best in-story at card (and mind) games, but in the in-game Old Maid, he is the only one with a tell. Certain moments, before he chooses a card, he moves his hand across the cards and then clenches it upward. Sometimes, he will look in the direction of the card a milisecond before choosing it. Granted, you're rendered immobile during these periods, but while the other three also do something similar, they lack this certain tell. It also hints at Vyn's tendency to sacrifice himself/his own winning to help MC win in-story.
  • Love at First Sight: Discussed in his personal story, theorizing it's a combination of the Halo Effect and the Primacy Effect that causes this phenomenon. It's also what he's currently trying to process after having socialized with the protagonist in Episode 1.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Mostly to criminals, but also, to some lesser extent, the MC early on. He gets much better about it, and he even admits to himself that it was wrong of him to do so. He still sort of does it in the form of impromptu tests to see how the MC will deal with certain personality types/exposing her to certain types of people, but the MC seems aware of (and understands the purpose behind) these tests and is more concerned with what he thinks of her performance. Vyn also manipulates his cousin Ragnar's dislike of him on the polo field, goading him in such a way that Ragnar lost his head and attacked Vyn, costing the Svart team the game.
  • The Medic: Is also this in the field, and considers Artem his patient after the events in Chapter 6 main story. Unsurprisingly, Vyn is a bit of a Dr. Jerk to Artem, given Artem's high-handed arrogance to the rest of the team early in the chapter; using his position as MC's boss in Themis to command her time during a NXX investigation; claiming his family name would protect him and MC from harm a concept that Vyn, having survived at least one assassination attempt as a young nobleman himself, knows is asinine; his recklessness and careless actions that lead to endangering the MC's life; and persistent stubborness about working despite being ordered to rest.
  • Mystical White Hair: Used to highlight his mysteriousness. His hair and his gold eyes are inherited from his father. His hair is show to be occasionally tied back in cards where he's more dressed down.
  • Overly Long Name: Vilhelm Richard Albert de Haspran, heir to the House of Haspran, son of the Duke of Haspran, Eirik Thurmond Alger de Haspran. Vyn is his legal pseudonym and Richter is his mother's maiden name and implied to be the name of her clan. Vyn's father worries that Vyn has Shed the Family Name for his mother's but Vyn denies this, and he is still apparently primarily known as Vilhelm outside of Stellis.
  • The Owl-Knowing One: He is represented frequently by a snowy owl, especially in the official card suite, as well as the suite of hearts, as well as resembling one. There are many memes putting his expressions next to those of a snowy owl's, both his happy and grumpy ones. Doubles as his Noble Bird of Prey symbol.
  • Photographic Memory: Strongly implied. Luke teases Vyn in Lost Gold about having a very good memory, and Vyn is a walking encyclopaedia of a truly stunning range of topics, despite his saying he 'does not know everything there is to know.' At the end of 'Mercury in Retrograde', Vyn memorizes a whole book on household maintenance in a few days. This may actually be the reason for Vyn having earned his double doctorates at a young age as well as his being a natural born genius.
  • Prestige Peril: Still in effect, but even more so after his fourth personal story chapter and emphasized in his second birthday card story. in fact, someone tried to assassinate his father, and sixteen year old Vilhelm. It's part of why he dislikes his birthday.
  • Princely Young Man: Seen as this by people around him. Then you find out he really is probably an actual prince; namely a Ducal Prince. He's high ranked enough to be considered royalty, per Lost Gold.
  • Really Royalty Reveal: Hinted at in the end of the Lost Gold storyline; proven in his personal story cards Food for Thought and Fetters of the Past. It's implied Vyn's childhood was not very pleasant because of his background.
  • Rebel Prince: Son of the Duke of Haspran and only heir to the incredibly powerful House of Haspran, Vilhelm states he left because of religious conflict condemning his choice of career - the practice of psychology is taboo for Svart nobles and considered a 'domain of the Church,' and even his father's influence wasn't enough to sway the Church. Vilhelm took the opportunity to leave, changed his name to Vyn Richter and settled in the city of Stellis. Somewhat a zig-zagged trope however, since Vyn still is the only heir and will use his real identiy, family name and influence if necessary, and per his fourth personal story, his father sends his most competent Old Retainer bodyguard to become Vyn's Battle Butler because of increasing conflict with the Svart Military and the Church of Svart.
  • Refuge in Audacity: Pay attention to his initial 'PUA act' example in the first chapter of his personal storyline, and his 'rich kid' act in the second chapter of his personal storyline. Not a single thing he says there is a lie. This backfires on him a little when he drops hints in Medieval Suspense that he has had similar experiences to the Young Duke character he is playing as a means to find out more about his real background. The MC does not believe him and consistently thinks in both stories that he is a very good actor.
  • Renaissance Man: He starts out as a Jack of All Trades due to a wide variety of personal interests and then taking up anything that the MC happens to be interested or curious in, but then tends to master the topic, simply because his perfectionist streak pushes him to never half-ass anything he puts his mind to. This isn't to say he's already capable of everything - if he fails at something (like fixing a pipe or mopping a floor) his tendency is to go the opposite direction and work at it until he can do it. This is true whether it's handicrafts, noodle making, household maintenance, or magic.
  • Royal Bastard: Vyn is the *only* heir to the Duchy of Haspran and its ruling house, but was born out of wedlock and implied to have been shunned for it by both other members of his family and his peers. A consistent observation the player will make is that Vyn seems to have had no playmates or childhood friends except for the occasionally seen Raphael, and it takes him a few moments to realize that the MC is inviting him to play when he is splashed with water by her in the Cool Summer card. He eventually figures it out and they splash each other until they're both soaked. Whether his statement that 'there were no children my age in my home town' is true or a smudge of the truth that he grew up the sole child in a palace remains to be seen. An elder female relative cared for him enough that he inherited her manor and the surrounding lands, and he seems to have spent a lot of time there, given that he says that he hunted in the forests in that area 'since he was the age of seven.'
  • Scary Shiny Glasses On occasion. Sometimes when he adjusts it as well, to highlight his being mischievous at the moment.
  • Teen Genius: Not the only one on the team per their backstories, but he specifically states that he came back home from university to celebrate his sixteenth birthday, which means he was already attending tertiary level education at the Royal College of Svart at least from the age of fifteen, or even earlier, making him younger than Luke to have gone to college.
  • The Smart Guy: While the main cast is by no means unintelligent, considering they’re made up of two competent attorneys, a Private Detective, and a young CEO businessman with impressive artistic capabilities, Vyn is the one most classically suited to this trope. He’s a double-doctorate certified psychiatrist with a focus in criminal psychology and often teaches the basics of his field to the MC. Plus, he’s the only one to wear glasses consistently.
  • Upper-Class Equestrian Vyn is a skilled equestrian, competing in polo, dressage and racing in story. Vyn is also a skilled mounted archer.
  • Walking Spoiler: His family background is much of a spoiler which is only hinted in some his cards and personal story.
  • Western Zodiac: Of all four LI, he is the one who matches his zodiac sign the most. Analytic, calm and has an expensive taste. Interestingly, several cards of him feature roses, the flower that belongs to Libra.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: A world-renowned expert in criminal psychology from his early twenties, and owns and runs his own research institute from the age of twenty five.
  • Yellow Eyes of Sneakiness To highlight his crafty nature and to pair with his Mystical White Hair

  • Code Name: King, in NXX. Fitting for the young CEO of one of the world’s leading corporations in-universe. Also, his own (English) name means 'King'.

Legal intern and best friend of the protagonist.

  • Fangirl: Of Kanon Clark, and the surrounding people he was or is associated with. She's heavily invested in fandoms.
  • Groupie: She also is this, chasing after autographs. Her doing this in 'Neon Melody' is what kicks off the story, and being one for Janus Beaufort and her connections in the world of social media are what help the MC, Vyn and Darius stopping Janus from escaping the scene of the crime of Estelle Marino's murder. Her help also changes Vyn's perception of groupie behaviour somewhat.
  • The Intern: A year younger than the MC, she graduated from the Law School of Stellis University with a bachelor's degree in law and joined Themis Law Firm as a legal intern in 2029.
  • Meganekko: The cute, chatty, chirpy, clumsy kind.
  • Otaku: Of a number of TV shows, celebrities, music, print and web comics and other entertainment media. She also drags MC along with her to obtain limited edition merchandise releases, as per Matching Tattoos. She also engages in shipping wars online for her idols' characters and gets upset if she picks the wrong ship. She also introduces MC to the media she's interested in, and they have at least one webtoon/comic they both enjoy.
  • Shipper on Deck: For MC and whichever LI she is with dependent on the separate LI's love story 'alternate timelines.'
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Or plot; she is often part of why the MC gets involved in things outside of work.

The first prosecutor you're up against.

  • Character Tics: Throwing/twirling a pen one-handed. Only visible in his moving sprite in Chapter 1, obviously.
  • Love Triangle: Word of God reveals that he is the rival of William Lewis when it's about Ingrid.
  • The Unfought: Zig-zagged. In the story itself, you don't actually hold traditional debates (in which you use your cards) against him, although he is the prosecutor you face in Chapter 1. However, in certain as of current CN-exclusive events he packs a staggering amount of 139650 HP, which is more than twice the HP of his colleague William Lewis in Chapter 5.3, who has 65400 HP. In the post belonging to it, it is explained that enemies having around 50000 HP is normal but it was turned up to eleven due to a campaign.
  • Tuckerization: He is based off and named after one of the CEOs of MiHoYo itself, Cai Haoyu. This also sounds through in his English name.

     William Lewis
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/e2sdttmx0aa0k8q.png

Affiliation: Baldr Legal Office
Foreign names: Sakaki Atsushi note  (Japanese), Liu Wei note  (Chinese), Yeohwan note (Korean)
Birthday:
Height:
Voiced by: Yuuki Tai (Japanese), Wei Zhai (Chinese)
The founder of Baldr Legal Office.
  • Advertised Extra: Is a figure noted on the relationship map, but you do not encounter him in the main story at all (as of yet), unlike Howard (who you meet as early in Chapter 1) and Ingrid (who appears in Chapter 5.2). However, in Chapter 5.1 he is seen in a flashback, and is the final boss in Chapter 5.3. Notably, this is the first time that you battle against a prosecutor directly.
  • Love Triangle: Word of God reveals that he is the rival of Howard Syter when it's about Ingrid.
  • Tuckerization: He is based off and named after one of the CEOs of MiHoYo itself, Liu Wei. This also sounds through in his English name.
  • Who Will Bell the Cat?: Gets hit by this hard during his debut appearance. The defense of Heirson is down to Baldr, but neither he or Howard Syter want to be known as representing a company that is involved in blackmail, illegal production of hallucogens and sabotage. In the end, he takes the case and becomes Chapter 5.3's final boss.

     Ingrid Rosworth
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lyh_sprite.png
Affiliation: Baldr Legal Office
Foreign names: Morinaga Kureha note  (Japanese), Luo Yuhao note  (Chinese)
Birthday:
Height:
Voiced by: 杨梦露 (Chinese)

  • Even Evil Has Standards: Depends on your definition of 'evil', since, despite Baldr belonging to the antagonists they're not very good at doing so. But despite the fact that she bribed Ian to revoke his confession, she doesn't stand at his side currently since she has learned of his illegal business and refuses to support him anymore.
  • Love Triangle: Word of God states that Howard and William both vie for her hand.
  • Tuckerization: She's named after one of the CEOs of MiHoYo itself, Luo Yuhao. Notably, she is based off a male CEO.

     Darius Morgan

Affiliation: Police
Foreign names: Iwasaki Takayuki note (Japanese), Yan Wei note  (Chinese)
Birthday:
Height:
Voiced by: Kazuya Nakai (Japanese), 冷泉夜月 (Chinese)

The chief of the local police.

  • The Commissioner Gordon: He's a police captain, not the police commissioner, but he pretty much plays this role in story. He's also the one to scold the MC, Artem or Vyn when they start getting out of hand or overconfident.
  • Fair Cop He's pretty attractive, especially when he smiles.
  • Friend on the Force: He's usually the main characters' ally from the police whenever there's a case involved. However, it's unclear if he's aware of the NXX. As of Chapter 7, he seems to be definitely aware of it, and was very much aware of it in the Secrets of the Tomb storyline, directly requesting their help to liase and investigate in another country in connection with the SCPD.
  • Good Cop/Bad Cop: Interestingly, he plays both roles sometimes.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He's the one to scold the MC, Vyn and Artem whenever they get overconfident or are caught breaking the rules. He also cautions Vyn when he feels Vyn is being too overconfident about exposing the MC to bad people to help her grow as an attorney and investigator, and tells Vyn he can't always be in control of everything. Notably he doesn't actually disagree with Vyn's methods, and seems to worry about how Vyn uses himself and his reputation as bait to drag out the real PUA mastermind via rumours and badmouthing online claiming Vyn is the real PUA mastermind and how these actions will negatively affect Vyn and the MC's growing relationship. If the player chooses the option that 'you' believed the rumours, Vyn looks shocked and hurt, proving Darius right, even for a moment.

The loyal assistant of Marius.

  • Almighty Janitor: He certainly is capable of doing practically anything Marius asks him to, Pax Group related work or X-NOTE case related, it doesn't matter.
  • Satellite Character: Is mainly defined by his role as assistant, who does about everything Marius tells him to.

  • "Blind Idiot" Translation: There are still remnants of the first translation draft, as he is called 'Robin' in some earlier lines.
  • Literal Metaphor: Fire. Not only did Bob Davis destroy his house through fire and cause his brother to end up in the hospital, he himself also threatens Marius with fire and a dagger. In the end, the 'flames of revenge in his heart' is used as both a reference to this fire and the metaphorical flames. It is to the point that the chapter was originally named something much more akin to 'Burning Run' note .
  • Nightmare Face: Cracks this several times during the latter part of chapter 4. This is also his default sprite as a boss.

  • Ambiguous Disorder: Zig-zagged. He displays a number of Hollywood Autism traits, such as refusing to talk most of the time, being genius in a certain field, and an averting gaze, but these are eventually revealed to be traits caused by his reclusiveness that followed Jasmine's death - he doesn't actually have autism.
  • Escaped from the Lab: Hugh is revealed to have escaped from the Opaline Village lab.
  • Happily Adopted: First adopted by Jasmine until her untimely death. Also his ultimate fate after Chapter 5.
  • Playful Hacker: Is able to hack into NXX's computer systems despite being only 10 years old.

  • Vehicular Sabotage: Tampered with the brake pads of Jasmine's car.

     Iker Lance

Voiced by: N/A

  • The Ghost: Is mentioned several times, but is not seen. Also has no NXX file.
  • Red Herring: Is mentioned as a possibly important person, but ends up not even appearing in the story; also isn't even related to the beef of the case.

     Yvonne Wright
Affiliation: Unknown
Foreign names: Sakura Yaeda note  (Japanese), Zhao Yuncui note  (Chinese)
Voiced by: 忙音 (Chinese)

  • Bystander Syndrome: To the worst degree. She and Iker drive past Jasmine’s car accident and even see her get out with blood on her head. She stops Iker from helping her and they drive away, mostly out of her jealousy that her husband has feelings for Jasmine. The MC and Luke are understandably disgusted by her inaction.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Whether you think she qualifies as evil or just enormously misguided and jealous is a matter of personal opinion, but from her backstory as told by Irvin, she seems to genuinely care for her daughter. Before the drama, she even received help from Jasmine to send her daughter to a private school out of the village, where Iker wanted her to end her education prematurely to be married off. This makes her subsequent treatment of Jasmine even sadder.
  • Female Misogynist: Yvonne is naturally upset when her husband attempts to engage in an affair with Jasmine — though she’s upset at Jasmine for being pursued and seems to harbor little to no resentment for Iker as the pursuer.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: She’s the wife of Iker Lance and hates Jasmine Kenders for being the object of her husband’s affection. Even after Jasmine’s death the mere mention of her is enough for Yvonne to drive off MC and Luke with a broom.
  • Misplaced Retribution: Despite Jasmine never being shown to reciprocate Iker’s flirtations, Yvonne places all the blame and hatred on Jasmine and none on her husband. She claims it’s Jasmine’s fault that Iker left the village after her death.
  • Red Herring: Like her husband, Iker, though she at least makes a proper appearance. It seems as though she’ll have a larger role to play in the plot, and is even set up as a possible schemer in the murder plot herself with an established motive. However, her marital problems and ensuing hatred of Jasmine are ultimately this, as they have little bearing on the water pollution and defamation trials.
    • The worst she can be accused of is an Accomplice by Inaction due to stopping Iker from helping Jasmine immediately after her accident. Even the MC laments that there’s no way for Yvonne to be tried by the law as she wasn’t directly involved.

Introduced in Chapter 6

     Naomi Anderson

     Jerry Jones

     Ava Kendricks

     Gene Greene

     Jun Choi

The fiancé of Irene Burke and the client of the main character. Jun is accused of killing Irene's parents.

  • Asshole Victim: Jun is manipulated by Irene, but it's very hard to say he didn't have it coming.
  • Betrayal Insurance: Secretly taped a discussion between him and Irene discussing their murder plot.
  • Caught on Tape: Has a secret recording of Irene discussing the murder plot hidden in a bank vault.
  • Embarrassing Alibi: Jun is not guilty of murdering the Burkes because he was actually murdering Simon Bloodworth at the time. Also doubles as a Confess to a Lesser Crime.
  • Love Hungry: Refuses to let Irene escape her abusive home to be an actress because it means he'll have to give her up.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Shares this with Caroline Argall, but Jun's sabotage of Irene's acting career turned her against him, and would instigate his own downfall.

     Caroline Argall

A high ranking member of Rexing Property, who hires Themis Law Firm to defend Jun Choi. Actually [[Irene Burke's birth mother]].

  • All for Nothing: Despite repeatedly sacrificing her daughter Irene for her personal gain, Caroline is stripped of all her power and money by the end of Chapter 7.
  • Ambition Is Evil: Closer to ambition makes you blind, but Caroline's ambitions to rise up in the world result in a miserable and torturous upbringing for Irene.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Is in a long running battle for the role of CEO at her company. Her hiring of the main character to be Jun's lawyer is an attempt to ensure that he supports bid to be CEO, as was her initial reasoning to send Irene to the Burkes.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Three times. She trusts her young daughter Irene to the Burkes, who abuse and perform medical experiments on her. She then introduces Jun Choi to her daughter, and is genuinely shocked when it is revealed that Irene hates her.
     Irene Burke

Adopted daughter of the Burkes, fiancé of Jun Choi, and personal assistant of Tyson Turner, President of Heirson Pharmaceuticals.

  • Bludgeoned to Death: How Irene murders her parents. The police report specifically uses the word vicious to describe the attack.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Irene has had a horrible life, and every single person who has crossed her, minus the main character, either ends up either dead or ruined.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Is mentioned as Tyson's new assistant in Chapter 6, but does not make an appearance until midway through Chapter 7.
  • Enemy Mine: Once arrested, Irene has no problem helping the attorneys who put her in prison in bringing down Tyson Turner, her boss and biological father.
  • Engineered Public Confession: The main character does not have enough evidence at the trial to convict Irene of murder, but is able to trick her into confessing.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: Is a beautiful young woman. Even the main character comments on this when they first meet.
  • The Heavy: Is the most visible member of Heirson Pharmaceuticals and the personal assistant of the President, Tyson Turner. At one point, Tyson ordered her to kill Vyn, though she never got around to it.
  • Hope Spot: Irene almost escaped her abusive home after being accepted into a prestigious acting school overseas. Jun Choi sabotages this and ensures Irene cannot attend.
  • Identical Stranger: Downplayed Trope, but the security guard at her apartment building mistook Irene for her mother the night of the murders. He winds up being an Unwitting Pawn in the case, loading the suitcases that contains the dead bodies of the Burkes into Irene's car.
  • Mad Scientist's Beautiful Daughter: Is noted to be beautiful, and the daughter of two mad scientists.
  • Master Actor: Talented enough to get an offer of admission to a famous overseas acting school. Also more than capable of fooling those around her into becoming a Unwitting Pawn.
  • Near-Villain Victory: Irene arguably comes the closest to getting away with her crimes out of all criminals in the game. The NXX team notes that had the three bodies not been discovered at almost the same time, they might have never suspected Irene of the crime. Even then, the main character has no evidence to prove she was the criminal, and has to rely on a Engineered Public Confession. Even despite her arrest, every other objective she had was completed.
  • Nightmare Face: Has a particularly deranged one as she shows her true colors.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: All but one of Irene's victims are unambiguously bad people. Irene also views this last victim as a Dirty Coward.
  • Tampering with Food and Drink: Laced her parents dinner with a sleeping drug to make them easier to kill.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Breaks down in court after the main character suggests she slipped up and left evidence during her murder of her adoptive parents.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: Her horrible, abusive life leads her to become the evil, manipulative person we know today. When the dust settles, three people are gruesomely murdered, a fourth is going to prison, a fifth has lost everything, and she has no problem providing evidence to help ruin a sixth.
