Hope NPCs
Hope NPCs are the shopkeepers and main characters that reside within the small remnant of Hope. Their personalities and relationships are discovered through quests and story events.
Miranda
Miranda is the local bookstore keeper of Hope. Best friends with Andre, she has a brave personality and enjoys adventure.- Collector of the Strange: Downplayed; she collects socks.
Andre
Andre owns tailored fashions, the clothing store of Hope, where he sells patterns and materials involved in the tailoring craft. He is best friends with Miranda, but is often shown to be nervous around Kei.Jay
Jay runs the General Store, which sells kitchen equipment, tools, recipes and cooking ingredients. Best friends with Lycus, she also rents out space for Lycus' sister Piper for her arcade.Kei
Owner of the Salon, Kei is extremely optimistic and charming, and can come off as a bit flirtatious. He has a number of siblings and has a love for milk and cookies.- Massive Numbered Siblings: They're not biologically his siblings; he only considers them this, but his parents run the orphanage so he treats ever single orphan there as his siblings, leading to this trope.
Nicholas Artois
Nicholas runs the Headmasters Office, the premium shop, and acts as Headmaster of Hope University. Father to Lycus and Piper, he has a curious personality and is allied to Iris.- Action Dad: While no action hero, he rushed into danger to save his family and kith.
- Putting the "Pal" in Principal: Well, headmaster, but still.
- Happily Married: Is this with Estella.
Piper Artois
Piper runs the Arcade, and is the youngest NPC we know so far. She is the daughter of Nicholas and sister of Lycus, and constantly has her backpack zebra Seeba with her, who she speaks too as if he is alive. A cheerful personality, Piper is friends with many of the shopkeepers in Hope.- Sweet Tooth: Quite a severe one at that.
- Successful Sibling Syndrome: She's jealous of Lycus for his accomplishments.
Robin
Robin runs Greenskeeper Gardens and sells produce and roses. She has a sassy personality and often knows about the towns latest gossip.- Raised by Grandparents: Since her parents died in a fire, her grandmother raised her.
Lycus Artois
Lycus is the son of Nicholas and brother to Piper, and runs the University Lab. He has an impulsive personality and can sometimes get engrossed in his work to the detriment of others. Lycus has been directly involved in the discovery of both the Enchanted Forest and Coral Reef.- Science Hero: Lycus has helped discover two remnants, and wants to help people through his research.
- Forgets to Eat: Jay has to routinely bring cereal around for him.
Iris
Iris runs the Tatters on the edge of Hope, where students can ally with kith. Iris was the first kith to ally with a human when she allied with Nicholas, and has a curious personality like her partner.Estella Artois
Estella is the mother to Piper and Lycus and wife of Nicholas, and comes home for supper every night. She runs the Bank of Hope and offers services such as exchanging items and general banking.- Happily Married: Is this with Nicholas.
Fray
Fray is Andre's kith ally, a gray lumence. He was directly involved in the Frayed Alliance Storyline. Fray is impulsive and loves umbrellas, lovingly named flap flaps. Enchanted Forest NPCs
Princess Celariel
Princess Celariel is an Elf and effective ruler of the Enchanted Forest, as her father must remain by the Heart to maintain the forest's protection from the Withering, the EF's equivalent of the Tatters. She is extremely dedicated to maintaining the protection of her people, sometimes to the expense of herself, which can be seen in the discovery of the coral reef story event. She runs the Throne Room where she sells patterns to elven hair and clothing.- Princesses Rule: Justified, since her father is unable to rule.

Othidar
Othidar is an Elf and runs Elven Cuisine in the Enchanted Forest, where he sells Enchanted Forest cooking equipment, ingredients and recipes. He can come off as prickly but has been shown to care deeply for others, particularly Princess Celariel. He is also good friends with Alban.Alban
Alban is a dryad of the Enchanted Forest and runs Forest Fittings, where they sell clothing patterns and materials. They have two kith allies, a talion named Pincusion and a Cinis, Ter. Alban has been shown to be a lover of puns, and is one of the older EF residents, though their exact age is not known.Lenta
Lenta is a dryad of the Enchanted Forest and runs Magic for Sale, where they sell magic items, flowers and cleaning supplies. They are allied with their Licorne Valon and were directly involved in helping Lycus discover the Coral Reef remnant, as well as being responsible for most of the wedding planning for Princess Celariel that also occurred during the story event.- Court Mage: They are this to Princess Celariel.
- Does Not Know How to Say "Thanks": Seems to struggle in expressing gratitude for the player.
Dizzy
Dizzy is an avoreal and runs the Nesting Place where she sells Enchanted Forest toys. A prankster at heart, she and her allied Phowl Burnie are constantly getting into trouble. She ran a pudding contest during the Coral Reef story event to determine who would be the best suitor for Princess Celariel.- Sweet Tooth: Implied.
- Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Shown in several of her quests and dialogue lines.
Skyler
Skyler is a quiet avoreal from the Enchanted Forest. Her left arm cuts off at the elbow, disabling her so she cannot fly like other avoreals. However through the March story event players were able to "fund" a project for her through the event, resulting in Skyler creating a prosthetic arm for herself.- The Quiet One: Mostly due to her shyness.

Coral Reef NPCs
Tethys
Tethys is a mermaid from the Coral Reef and runs Sirens Delights, which sells CR food and recipes. Initially introduced during the Coral Reef story event as Echoes, she has a flair for dramatics. Quest lines and forum events have revealed that Bonnie and Tethys have a past relationship, though the details are still not known.- Mood-Swinger: She's driven to tears very easily, and (post-breakup), loses her temper at Bonnie very easily.
Shay
Shay is a merman from the Coral Reef and runs Starboard Engineers, where he sells CR toys. Extremely particular, he comes off as distant and a bit rude at first. He and Ogenus do however seem to get along as revealed through shop quotes. Shay's design is influenced heavily by betta fish.Bonnie
Bonnie is a human pirate and resident of the Coral Reef. She runs Pirate Galley where she sells CR foods and recipes. Friends with Marcus, shop quotes also reveal she had a relationship with Tethys in the past. Bonnie has a pegleg and a love for grog.- The Gambling Addict: Has a vast number of debts from all the cards games she's lost.
Dione
Dione is a mermaid from the Coral Reef who specializes in clothing, which she sells in her shop Decked Out. Quest lines indicate that she does not approve of Ogenus' desire to not wear clothes. Her design is influenced by seals.- Team Mom: She's often a shoulder to cry on for Tethys (especially post-breakup) and is more than willing to bring food around for Shay.
Ogenus
Ogenus is a merman from the Coral Reef. He sells trinkets and shells in the Seabed, as well as taking care of a number of babies that other merfolk have left in his care. His design is influenced by angler fish a bioluminescent deep sea creatures.Marcus
Marcus is a human pirate from the Coral Reef. He is currently studying as an exchange student in Hope, working at Campus supplies. He is allied with a regal Seafairy named X, and plays cards with Bonnie. Shadow Stage NPCs
The Hero
A regularly dying hero with memory issues. 'Defeated' the Narrator.- Wistful Amnesia: Though he forgets everything when he dies, his returning self feels like he remembers something from the past, and will remark that certain events seem familiar.
The Wolf
Protector of the Witch, grumpy costumer, murderer of the HeroThe Narrator
The Creator, the Author, the Narrator; ruler of the Shadow Stage before Hope stepped in.- Can't Take Criticism: The Narrator always reacts poorly to criticism, and in fact, yelling it at him was helpful for overthrowing him.
- Big Bad: He was the evil ruler of the Shadow Stage.
The Witch
A child who loves candy and friendship. Grandson of the Wolf, and son of the Damsel- Ambiguous Gender Identity: A boy who plays a female character in a story, but the story is also their life...Yeah, she doesn't even understand the question.
The Dollmaker
A timid collector of possibly haunted dolls.The Scribe
The editor of Shadow Stage stories.The Damsel
The previous leading lady of the Shadow Stage.- We Hardly Knew Ye: Died before the players even got to the Stage.
