    open/close all folders

A list of all the oddballs, weirdos and madmen that appear in the Charisma series. Most of them are exaggerated caricatures of real friends and forumgoers, but to what extent varies.

    The Original Gang (1-6)
The original gang that debuted in the first Charisma. Most of them no longer appear in the series due to a falling out between them and the creator.

Dudim

Dudim is a Super Mario World dolphin, self-proclaimed leader of the gang and one of the few constants in the series. He straddles a fine line between a Deadpan Snarker and Cloud Cuckoo Lander.
  • Author Avatar: Zig-Zagged. The games can't seem to decide if Dudim is or isn't Vitiman. 7 calls him "Ike's dolphin".
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: As stated above, he likes to think of himself as the leader of the group as well as its only mainstay member over the course of two member switch-outs. He's also insane.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander
  • Deadpan Snarker: Sometimes lapses into this.
  • Fusion Dance: Does this with Miles in Dudim in the Family.
  • The Leader
  • More than Mind Control: ancient golem john implies that Dudim killing all of those people while his body was controlled by him was partially just his "dolphin instinct doing its thaaaang", which only serves to both terrify and infuriate Dudim more.

Camtendo/Cam

One of the more grounded characters in the original gang, Cam doesn't possess any immediately bizarre characteristics.

Genogenesis7

Genogenesis is usually used as a background object and doesn't make a formal playable appearance until Charisma 5. The fact that he seems to enjoy being a rotating push-around may mark him as the goofiest one.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: Has a more compact version of this trope, in that he can shoot a consistent, unstoppable laser beam for a few seconds at a time in any given direction.

Miles

The group's (literal) hero, is always seen wearing his iconic "Batbro" outfit. From Charisma 3 onward, he is usually the one to fight the final boss, although he unfortunately pays the price of this when he dies one game afterwards.

Doc

Makes a quick appearance in the ending of Charisma 3 and another in the intro of 5 during a flashback to the former, although he's implied to be the one always driving the DeLorean that the characters occasionally use. Yes, a character named Doc drives a time travelling DeLorean. It was intentional.

Mit

sspp03/StrikeForcer

Occasionally shortened to just "S" in-game. Notable for being strangely political and sometimes overly violent throughout the series. He has expressed interest in schoolyard fights, has shot many small babies in a row, and will always take things more seriously than he should. In spite of this, rumor has it that he loves dogs, though.

    Post-MFGG Gang (7)
The strange intermission period of the Charisma gang. Unique for having basically no ground in MFGG, sans Someguy. 7 is the only game they appear in.

Padded Rick,

The group's stoner and resident snarker (more so than Dudim, even!) and has a tendency to be in his own little world. Whether this is a product of all the pot he's totally smoking isn't made clear.

Philips,

The "boring geek" archetype who is quite literally the Philips logo and nothing more. Always seems to find himself in the worst possible situations imaginable for someone who just wants to use the computer and nothing more.

Someguy

Creator of his own incredibly bizarre series of joke games and other weird wobbly bobbly things. Seen as something of a kindred spirit to Dudim (or at least, Dudim's owner Ike), Someguy saves Dudim's dolphin ass from being fried into a Japanese delicacy during the first battle with ancient golem john. Unfortunately, he couldn't save Dudim from being mind controlled by him, but what can you do?

Scott

Who has shown up in quite a few things that Vitiman has done, and thus it's hard to tell if he actually counts as a part of the gang per se or is just a notable "guest". Either way, Scott lives in the deepest depths of Cloud Cuckooland, having created his own donkey garden and being able to chop down trees by throwing scissors at them.

The New Gang (8-Dudim in the Family)
The new Charisma gang members introduced in 8/Dudim in the Family. Most of them are from a Discord group called Club Saturn this time around, but a good majority are also from MFGG.

Most of the other two gangs are gone in favor of them. StrikeForcer, Miles and (obviously) Dudim return, however. Tropes for them go in the entries above.

Kirby's Adventure

Hit game on the NES, seemingly a personification of the actual classic 8-bit game (which basically means the Kirby sprite from that game wearing shades). A combination of a seen-it-all Deadpan Snarker as well as a tendency to use far more colorful language than the rest of the gang. Seems to be the catalyst for the journey, having assisted Dudim in leaving Jerry from Seinfeld's apartment.

Blutorus/Cruise Elroy

Doesn't say a whole lot, but does manage to do a good bit regardless. Sort of a blank hero type character, which might be intentional irony as the "red ghost from Pac-Man" is often considered one of gaming's first iconic villains.

Friendly Dictator

Who's most defining characteristic apart from having strokes is that he likes new wave music, particularly the Talking Heads. Unlike the prior two, you don't really get to play as him in the eighth game at all, but he does have a larger impact on the story.

Dustinvgmaster

He was rescued from a boss fight and proclaimed "bonjour, I am back" and then said nothing else. He did apparently send Dudim through time from his initial landing spot in the desert at some point in 1994 though, so he had an impact on the story regardless.
  • Ascended Extra: Gets a larger role in the Dudim in the Family comic.
  • Beam Me Up, Scotty!: It became a bit of a running joke within the real life gang that his single line is this. Later retroactively subverted as the mocking of it led to him actually saying it quite a bit.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Drops one of these in 3.1 for Workgroups when his friends ditch him.
  • Fusion Dance: Does this with Langton in Dudim in the Family.
  • Informed Attribute: According to the MFGG description, he is apparently a "great time champion", but we only see one or two instances of him getting involved with time travel.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: In Dudim in the Family, he claims to have many impatient fans and threatens to delete the Discord channel for DitF if they're not appeased.
  • You Don't Look Like You: Despite having a proper reference character, Dustin is represented by Mike Jones in 8. His Dudim in the Family design varies depending on the artist, with the most bizarre resembling Chevy Chase wearing Burger King crown.
    • Averted in 3.1 for Workgroups, where he has a sprite that looks more like his actual reference character

LangtonLion64

Debuted in Dudim in the Family.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Parodied. One appearance in Dudim in the Family is punctuated with "OH MY GOSH GUYS IT'S LANGTON".
  • Fusion Dance: Does this with Dustin in Dudim in the Family.
  • The Unintelligible: One Dudim in the Family comic paints him as this due to being the only British member of the gang. This isn't so for the audience.
  • You Don't Look Like You: Suffers a fate similar to Dustinvgmaster. One of the forms he takes is a cat man based on a persona given to him by comic-making bot Septapus in Club Saturn. Accumulates in the "Heavy Fire Saga" by having him be literally Captain Crunch.

    Villains/General Nasties

Heavy Fire

A person notorious for their horrible English, their cheerful demeanor, and finally their undying desire to enslave everyone using the cold blooded hands of the gods. He runs the Casual Chat, you know!
  • Affably Evil: Although he does manage to leave Vinny to rot in the Casual Chat by the first game's end, he doesn't really do much else over the course of the series. Even Miles was able to break out of his "prism", which means nothing else Heavy Fire did managed to stick.
  • Catchphrase: Have enjoyment! Spawned from his horrific Engrish, see below
  • Big Bad: For most of the series.
  • "Blind Idiot" Translation: For some of his dialogue, Vitiman actually ran the already corrupted sentences through Google Translate a good few times to achieve a more believable Engrish. The only exception to this is the famous "have enjoyment!", which he liked so much he avoided tampering with.
  • Fusion Dance: Does this with Kirby's Adventure against the latter's will in Dudim in the Family and then later Blutorus. Whomever he fuses with even inherits his Engrish!
  • Intentional Engrish for Funny
  • Motive Decay: Heavy Fire was originally portrayed as wanting to capture the Charisma team to force them to "moderate" his Casual Chat, but then it was soon revealed he was merely working for a greater villain. This is all thrown out the window anyways, as he soon became characterized as the series mainstay "villain" in spite of only technically appearing in 3 games (with other appearances being fake Heavy Fires).

Brynn

A lackey for Heavy Fire (although later it was revealed Heavy Fire himself was merely a lackey) whose incompetence is a running joke throughout the series. His fondness for horses and bazinga are the butt of the joke many times throughout the second game
  • Affably Evil: Even more so than Heavy Fire - Brynn can't even fight back, and at most provides a bit of chase for Dudim in the second game.
  • Visible Silence: His only means of communication. Three in a row, in fact.

Tim Rogers

A man whose true form has never been revealed in the series (according to 6, the form he takes up during that game's final battle was a "disguise"). His true motives were never really explained either, but Vitiman likes to think that ol' Tim was a time creature who wanted to kill Dudim and the rest of the original gang for "knowing too much".
  • Faux Affably Evil: Tim Rogers is initially described as a bit of an amusing villain, one coined after a typo of "time" that is never shown on-screen. He's also the only villain in the entire series to successfully kill anyone.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: For 4-6. As it turns out, he was also this for the first 3 games, but we only find this out in hindsight.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Kills Elecky as well as Miles in one fell swoop at the end of 5 once it becomes clear that she can't beat Miles in a duel.

Dolphin Killers

Madox

A no-nonsense computer program thingy that was apparently Dudim's best friend at one point. His battlefield is the almighty world of Windows 95.
  • Fighting Your Friend: Technically all of the Dolphin Killers fall under this, but Madox perhaps fits it the best. He almost seemed jealous of Dudim's Charisma pals and was willing to destroy Dudim to ensure balance to his own personal grievances. He's seemingly fine by Charisma 6's end, though.
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: Boasts he could be as much of a "best friend" type as any of Dudim's other friends... as he's kidnapping him along with two other neglected persons from Dudim's past.

Jay

A powerful bird creature who couldn't be more of a Large Ham if he tried. He lives in the high as high can be skies where he lays his meatball eggs to feed his unborn babies. He apparently burnt the meatballs to a crisp, and he can't ever seem to move on from the incident. Ultimately, meatballs are his downfall.

Elecky

A person cosplaying as Elecman who took it upon herself to take refuge in the original Elecman's fortress of tower fortress tower. Except sideways. A very quirky character, she serves as the "leader" of the three Dolphin Killers, speaking for them most of the time and warning Dudim of what they'll do to him if he doesn't comply.

Charisminus Team

Drewdim

A deceptive and blunt force in the group, he is Dudim's opposite. Much larger and puffier, his sprite was actually intended as Dudim's sprite for the third Charisma (or at least, one of its many concepts) and was repurposed as an in-joke.

Sarah Jenny

Self appointed second-in-command to Tim Rogers and Camtendo's opposite. She's notable for being the only one to appear twice (during her boss battle and in Mit's stage) and, aside from Drewdim, the only one who has dialogue. Her name is a pun on "Sega Genesis", in keeping with Camtendo's theme naming.

Booster Megadrive 14

A crazy computer program who went insane and is Geno's opposite. You never really fight him per se but he does trigger the boss rush fight.

Tim

No relation to Tim Rogers and the opposite of Mit. Very Eggman/Robotnik-like in appearance, he seems to be the guardian of the Negative Zone gateway.

ancient golem john

A very mysterious fellow who seems to inherit Heavy Fire's Engrish to some extent (however, if he's pushed, he'll speak coherently, which may imply it's all an act). He seems to have deluded himself into thinking he's the "king" of... well, nothing in particular. Maybe he thinks he's the king of everything?

Slowbiff

ancient golem john's second-in-command, and a force to be reckoned with all the same. He doesn't appear too much, but it's implied he's the one who creates all of the weaponry and technology john somehow manages to obtain.

    Misc

VinnyVideo

An MFGG admin that falls in a pit and is left there by Heavy Fire due to not having enjoyment. He presumably never recovers.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Despite showing up out of nowhere and being left for dead just as abruptly, his influence is keenly felt.
