Nest of Pirates

Lady Kika Pirates

    In general 
  • Combination Attack: Dario, Nalleo, Hervey and Sigurd can perform the "Pirate Band Attack" in Tactics.
  • Cool Boat: The Grishend, Kika's ship.
  • Elemental Powers: In Naval Battles, they can use Rune Cannons of every element.
    • Nalleo can only use Fire and Lightning ones, however.
  • Enemy Mine: They join forces with Lazlo and the king of Obel, Lino En Kuldes, in order to kick the Kooluk navy out of the Island Nations.
  • Pirate: Of course.
    • Dario is a Type 2 variety.
    • Harvey and Sigurd are the "dashing romantic hero" type.

Tenko Star
Voiced by: Reiko Kiuchi (JP) and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (EN)

Captain of the Grishend and a powerful pirate in the seas of the Island Nations. Though officially an outlaw, Kika is known not to pick fights and doesn't appreciate the Kooluk Empire invading her homeland. She is the Tenko Star, also known as the Lone Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.


  • Action Girl: Kika actively commands her own ship and doesn't hesitate to follow her own men into battle.
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: Kika leads her crew and is its strongest member and a well-known pirate.
  • Bare Your Midriff: Her navel is visible.
  • Blade Spam: of the "Simultaneous Blade Spam" type. Thanks to her Falcon Rune, Kika can stab her oponentes multiple times in a few seconds.
  • Blow You Away: In Tactics, her innate element is wind.
    • Her Combo Attack with Lazlo has them creating a powerful Razor Wind with their swords.
  • The Captain: She is well-known in the waters of the Island Nations.
  • Combination Attack: Kika can perform the "Double Sword Attack" (with Lazlo), the "Allure Attack" (with Gretchen and Jeane), and the "Beauty Attack" (with Ameria and Jeane).
    • The first two combos are back in Tactics, except that Gretchen is replaced by Ornela.
  • Dual Wielding: She uses two swords, known as Righarard.
  • Fiery Redhead
  • Heart Broken Badass: Her lover Edgar was killed by the pirate Steele, who at the time wielded the rune of punishment. These events are showcased in Suikoden Tactics.
  • Heroic Spirit
  • Pirate Girl: Suikoden's very own bucaneer babe.
  • Shock and Awe: Has excellent affinity with the Lightning Rune.

    Dario

Chibi Star
Voiced by: Satoshi Taki (JP)

Dario is a short, chubby pirate. He is the Chibi Star, also known as the Least Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.


  • An Axe to Grind: Wields the "Iron Splitter".
  • Boisterous Bruiser: To the point where Kika has to scold him about picking fights with people who haven't committed any sort of crime.
  • Butt-Monkey: Get the worst treatment out of Kika's crewmates. Dario's attack on Razril ends badly and his fleet in nearly antiquated by the Rune of Punishment power, when Lazlo saves Lilin from Cray Trading Company, Dario thinks he is kidnapping her and attacks, only to be defeated and flee.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: He's pretty foul-mouthed, even when around his young son.
  • Combination Attack: Dario can perform the "Berserker Attack" with Gau.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Has excellent affinity with the Earth Rune. This is also his innate element in Tactics.
  • Drunken Master: He likes his grog.
  • Fast Ball Special: Gets thrown into the enemies by Gau in his unite attack.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He initially menaces Gaien, and picks fights in naval combat until Kika approached him and told him to behave himself.
  • Hidden Depths: Dario initially attacked Lazlo and his companions because he thought they were responsible for capturing and killing dozens of mermaids.
  • Hot-Blooded: Very much so, and sometimes to the point where Kika and the other pirates wonder if he's either drunk or just plain has no self-control.
  • The Lancer: To Kika. He is her right hand man.
  • Lovable Rogue: He might be a loud-mouthed pirate, but Dario isn't really a bad guy and appears to be a loving father to Nalleo. He also despises people who capture and kill mermaids.
  • Parental Substitute: To Nalleo, who has no idea Dario isn't his birth father.
  • Sticky Fingers: Nalleo admits that his father has an unfortunate habit of stealing broiled fish from the kitchens.

    Hervey

Chimou Star

A hot-tempered pirate and the (self-proclaimed) "most dashing pirate on the high seas". Harvey is the Chimou Star, also known as the Ferocious Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.

Chiki Star
Voiced by: Ikuji Nose (JP) and Peter Doyle (EN)

A quiet pirate and Hervey's rival. Sigurd is the Chiki Star, also known as the Strange Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.


  • Bishounen
  • Combination Attack: Sigurd is part of the "Pirate Attack" (with Hervey) and the "Adonis Attack" (with Hervey and Helmut).
  • The Dragon: To Reinbach II, before the events of Suikoden IV. Sigurd received direct orders from him to assassinate anyone who could interfere with his Rune Cannon smuggling business.
  • Flechette Storm: He attacks with a dart-like weapon named Golden Blade.
  • He Knows Too Much: On both ends of this: Reinbach II orders him to silence Walter's group after they start making questions about Rune Cannons. In Suikoden IV, after he joins Kika pirate crew, Reinbach II hires and assassin, Keen, to kill him.
  • Jerkass: Before becoming a pirate. Lampshaded by Seneca.
  • Making a Splash: Has excellent affinity with the Water Rune. In Tactics, Sigurd innate element is water.
  • Power-Up Mount: In Tactics, Sigurd can ride kangacorns.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Blue oni to Harvey's red. Sigurd is calm, quiet and collected, while Harvey is passionate and hot-tempered.

    Brandeau

Brandeau is a former pirate of the Nest of Pirates and friends with Edgar and Kika. He is a minor antagonist of Suikoden IV.


  • Blessed with Suck: Wears the Rune of Punishment.
  • Blood Brothers: With fellow pirate, Edgar.
  • Cool Sword: Fights with one.
  • Duel Boss: Challenges Lazlo to a final duel after he survived his Rune of Punishment.
  • Eyepatch After Time Skip: Chronologically, Suikoden IV events happens after the battle with Steele.
  • Eyepatch of Power: Wears it in his right eye, which was hurt during said battle.
  • Fate Worse than Death: His soul get stuck within the Rune of Punishment, until being freed by Lazlo.
  • Flunky Boss: Lazlo and some Redshirt Army soldiers fight him and, his subordinate, Peck together.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: Brandeau is only playable during the third chapter of Suikoden Tactics.
  • Making a Splash: In Tactics, his innate element is water.
  • No Shirt, Long Jacket: How he dresses.
  • Pirate: A former member of Kika's crew, forced on abandoning them because of the rune.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue oni to Edgar's red, in Tactics.
  • Start of Darkness: In Tactics, during a battle against the rival pirate Steele, Brandeau loses his best friend Edgar, involuntarily acquires the Rune of Punishment, loses one of his eyes and saw his sidekick Peck transfigured into a goblin-like creature. He left Kika's crews after being too overcame with guilt, and returns in IV as the Ax-Crazy pirate.
  • Starter Villain: Brandeau is the first real threat faced by Lazlo.
  • Taking You with Me: After being defeated and surounded by the hero, Brandeau uses his True Rune in a last attempt to take everyone with him.

A subordinate of Brandeau. Suikoden Tactics explains that Peck was once a normal man, but was turned into a monster because of a explosion of a Rune Cannon.


  • Dishing Out Dirt: In Tactics, his innate element is earth.
  • Does Not Like Shoes: Is always seen barefooted, even before his transformation.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": In Suikoden IV, he is called "???" or "Assassin". The sequel averts this.
  • Gonk: His appearance in Suikoden IV.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: In Tactics. Peck is playable during the first battle of Chapter 3.
  • Knife-Throwing Act: Fights by throwing knives.
  • Mauve Shirt: He is just a minor villain without a name in the game. Suikoden Tactics gives him a name and a background.
  • Non-Human Sidekick: Becomes this to Brandeau due to his trasformation.
  • Pirate: A subordinate of Brandeau.
  • Run or Die: When Brandeau activates the Rune of Punishment, Peck tells the Razril knights to run for they lives. Unfortunately they have no idea of what's happening about and just stand still until the rune kills them all.
  • Was Once a Man: The sequel reveals that Peko was a human pirate, who was transformed into a monster when the pirate Steele exploded a Rune Cannon with his True Rune of Punishment.

Chikai Star

A strategist-in-training and Elenor's fangirl. Tanya is the Chisui Star, also known as the Chief Star of Earth, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.


  • Ascended Fanboy: A fangirl of Elenor Silverberg who, being a Star Of Destiny, gets to work with her.
  • Bookworm: Tanya likes to read books and studies strategy on her own. When recruited, she opens a libary on your ship.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She's particularly sneering to poor Agnes, which is probably out of spite because she thinks she should be Elenor's pupil, not Agnes.
  • Dumb Blonde: Inverted. Tanya is very intelligent bookworm and wishes to the a strategist, just like Elenor.
  • Encyclopedia Exposita: She manages Suikoden 4's version of this, the Old Books volume 1-12.
  • Making a Splash: In Naval Battles, she can use Water Rune Cannons.
  • Ojou Ringlets: Her hairstyle.
  • Peek-a-Bangs: Tanya has bangs covering her left eye.

Hermitage Island

    Elenor Silverberg

A member of the reputable Silverberg family and former strategist of the Scarlet Moon Empire, with Graham Cray as her apprentice. After living in exile for many years, Elenor eventually agrees to assist Lazlo in leading the Island Liberation Navy to victory against Kooluk. She is the Tenki Star, also known as the Star of Wisdom, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.


  • A Pupil of Mine, Until He Turned to Evil: Graham Cray is her ex-pupil.
  • Badass Bookworm
  • But Thou Must!: Elenor need to be sent to Fort El-Eal to disable the giant rune cannon. Even if Lazlo forbids her, she will lock him in his room and go anyway.
  • Cool Old Lady
  • Cynical Mentor: At first she seems a bitter, broken woman but she does mellow into a more traditional Obi Wan type over time.
  • Famous Ancestor: Of Mathiu, Odessa, and Leon Silverberg.

  • Fetch Quest: She's reluctant to join the hero, and to prove his worth, she instructs him to retrieve a green bottle and a seal from a cave behind her house. When he succeeds, she is compelled to join.

  • Heroic Lineage: She is from the famous Silverberg family of the Scarlet Moon Empire, who are renowned for producing the Suikoden world's leading strategic minds.

  • Never Found the Body: After the final confrontation with her ex-pupil, Graham Cray, it's believed Elenor lost her life in the crumbling Fort El-Eal, although it's also believed she could possibly be Missing in Action.
  • Recurring Element: Elenor is a renowned, and retired, strategist who is convinced by the hero to help to fight against an invading empire, much like Mathiu and Shu before her.
  • Retired Badass: She was a renowned strategist in the Scarlet Moon Empire, but was kicked out due to an accident involving her disciple, Graham Cray.
  • Slipping a Mickey: When the hero's party arrive at her hermitage, she is initially very suspicious and drugs them to found out their intentions.
  • The Strategist: She was a former strategist of the Scarlet Moon Empire, and is recruited by Lazlo for the Liberation Army.

  • Virtual Training Simulation: Of sorts. By talking to her in the HQ, you will enter in a simulated Naval Battle. Being a simulation, no one dies if you lose.

Chifuku Star

A disciple of Elenor Silverberg, always keeping people away from her mentor. Agnes is the Chifuku Star, also known as the Hiding Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.


  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She get's very possessive when Tanya tries to muscle in on her role as Elenor Silverberg's assistant.
  • Elemental Powers: In Naval Battles, Agnes can use Water and Lighning Rune Cannons.
  • Expy: Of Apple, from first Suikoden.
  • Healing Hands: Has the "Healing" supporting ability.
  • Number Two: To the strategist Elenor, whom she replaces during the invasion of Fort El-Eal.
  • Plucky Girl: She's very determined, and works hard to prove herself to Elenor.
  • Right-Hand Hottie: Of Elenor Silverberg.
  • The Rival: To the fellow Elenor fangirl, Tanya.
  • The Strategist: Although, she's still in training.

    Aldo

Tenei Star

A shy and nervous archer that has abandonated by his shipmates on the deserted Hermitage Island. Aldo is the Tenei Star, also known as the Heroic Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.


  • Ambiguously Gay
  • Archer Archetype: Uses a bow in battle.
  • The Champion: To Ted. He becomes his confidant and is very protective of his well being.
  • Combination Attack: Aldo can perform the "Bow and Arrow Attack" with Ted. He also can be part of the "Barrage Attack", which requires three archers: two males and one female.
  • Country Mouse: Having lived in isolation for years, he is nervous of the hustle and bustle of the ship HQ.
  • Elemental Powers: In Naval Battles, Aldo can use powerful Rune Cannons of every element. He has good affinity with all but the lightning element.
  • Killed Off for Real: He's said to have died following Ted around at the ending, probably because he became too close with Ted and got designated as Soul Eater's victim.
  • Robinsonade: He was stranded on Hermitage Island, until the hero showed up and recruited him.
  • Shrinking Violet: Very shy.

    Gau

Tensatsu Star

A barbaric man who lives in the Hermitage Island. Gau is the Tensatsu Star, also known as the Murderous Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.


  • Barbarian Hero: His look.
  • The Big Guy: A physically strong and imposing guy who loves to fight.
  • Combination Attack: Gau can perform the "Berserker Attack" with Dario.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Joins Lazlo after being defeated in combat.
  • Elemental Powers: In Naval Battles, Gau can use very weak Rune Cannons of every element and has good affinity with the Earth Rune.
  • Expy: Of Final Fantasy VI's Gau.
  • Flunky Boss: As a boss, Gau fights alongside four Demon Wolves.
  • Hulk Speak: Only Dario was able to understand him at times. Also, his letters to you are all variations of the word UGA!
  • In the Hood: He wears a headdress made from the skinned head of a Demon Wolf.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Not only Gau is strong, durable and has high HP, but he also has excellent speed stats. When leveled, he will became even faster than ninja-type characters.
  • Luck-Based Mission: Gau appear as a enemy during random battles. He may show up fast or not, depending of your luck.
  • My Kung-Fu Is Stronger Than Yours: He joins the allies, only after the hero proves his strength in a duel.
  • No Social Skills: Gau was unable to communicate and didn't cope well with other people once he encountered them. He later learned to speak some simple sentences and conduct elementary conversations. See Wild Man.
  • Raised by Wolves: Implied to have been raised by Demon Wolves, as he fights alongside them.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning
  • Super Strength: He is one of the best fighters in the game due to his incredibly high HP and Strength.
  • Wild Man / Wild Child: He lived his entire life alone in nature and is more beast than man.
  • Wolverine Claws: Fights with claws.

Mordo island

    Igor

Chido Star
Igor is a gambler and the owner of the island hot spring. Igor is the Chido Star, also known as the Serving Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.
  • Adjusting Your Glasses: His character art shows Igor adjusting his glasses by the corner.
  • Always Someone Better: Igor decided to compare his day's earnings with his fellow gambler, Gunter. After knowing the results Igor feel pity on himself.
  • Betting Mini-Game: He operates a "where's the coin?" game once recruited, which can be played for potch.
  • Butt-Monkey: Is one to the Mordo Springs bandits, whom took over his hot spring. His guilty confession scene is:
    Igor: D'oh!! Wh-Why does everyone pick on me?!
  • The Gambler: He Makes a living from it.
  • Healing Spring: He is the rightful owner of the Mordo Springs.
  • Making a Splash: In Naval Battles, Igor can use Water Rune Cannons.
  • Nerd Glasses: Wears the "Chunky black plastic" type.
  • Random Drop Booster: Has the "Found Treasure" ability, that has a chance of finding items after an enemy is defeated.

    Lo Fong

Tenzai Star
Voiced by: Noriko Fujimoto (JP)

The female sibling of the Mordo Springs Bandits. Lo Fong is the Tenzai Star, also known as the Star of Sin, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.


  • Dishing Out Dirt/Making a Splash: Has excellent affinity with Water and Earth Runes. She also joins with an Earth Rune attached.
  • Genki Girl: Can be very energetic.
  • Hair Decorations: Wears a key shaped hair stick.
  • Kimono Fanservice: Lo Fong wears a blue wave-themed kimono.
  • Knife Nut: Her Weapon of Choice. Lo Fong fights by throwing knives.
  • Likes Older Men: Lo Fong clearly has a fondness for older men (and mustaches), as when she decides to rank the most attractive men on the boat, Gunter took bronze, Konrad took silver, and Izak took the gold. Also, in her confession scene:
    Keen: Then, would you tell me what you think of Lazlo?
    Lo Fong: Give him another 30 years... then we'll see if he becomes my kind of man...
  • She's Got Legs: Her legs are mostly visible, as seen in her character art.

    Lo Hak

Tenpai Star

Lo Hak is a young archer and the womanizer of the bandit siblings. He is the Tenpai Star, also known as the Vanquished Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.


  • Archer Archetype: Uses a bow in battle.
  • The Charmer: Lo Hak is a bit of a ladies man, with Katarina, Helga, and Maxine being his particular favorites.
  • Dark-Skinned Blond: Has a darker skin tone than his siblings and is blonde.
  • Playing with Fire: Has excellent affinity for fire magic. Also comes with a Fire Rune attached.
  • Red Herring: In the Comment Box, he suggests that Katarina, Maxine, and Helga have the "Beauty Attack" Unite; in truth, it is Kika, Jeane, and Ameria.
  • Shirtless Scene: He only wears a blue coat.

    Lo Seng

Deserted Island

    Taisuke

Chiretsu Star

A hot springs enthusiast. Taisuke is the Chiretsu Star, also known as the Inferior Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.


  • Anime Hair: Has a spiky Wolverine-like hair-style.
  • Bathtub Bonding: Certain combinations of characters and antiques placed within the baths will activate a variety of mini scenes.
  • Furo Scene: His specialty. He has a passion for making baths, and once recruited, he builds a large onsen on the ship HQ, where party characters can be seen enjoying a nice soak. The onsen also serves as an area to display a mural of all islands visited and any treasures found.
  • Naked on Arrival: He joins the allies after the hero retrieves his misplaced clothes whilst he is having a (naked) soak in a mountain spring on the Deserted Island.
  • Playing with Fire: In Naval Battles, he can use Fire Rune Cannons.

Chikou Star

A treasure hunter, able to uncover secrets with her dowsing rods. Rene is the Chikou Star, also known as the Cunning Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.



Miscellaneous characters

The Mermaids

    In General 
  • Color-Coded Characters: Each mermaid's "ears", fins and lower limbs are from a specific color. Lilan is yellow, Lilen is purple, Lilin is blue, Lilon is green/brown, and Liloon is orange.
  • Cute Monster Girl: No one would look at them and think monsters.
  • Family Theme Naming: Their names follows the pattern: Lil + a vowel + n. The last one was supposed to be Lilun, but this was likely lost in translation.
  • Humans Are the Real Monsters: The mermaids are very wary of humans due do being frequently hunted for their skin.
  • Item Crafting: Their speciality. Lilin and her sisters operate an accessory store and can synthesize new accessories from any materials the hero has gained.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: Unlike traditional mermaids, Lilin and her sisters have humanoid legs, as opposed to fish-like tails. They also look like they're wearing a wetsuit.
  • Throwing the Distraction: During the invasion of Fort El-Eal, the sisters led a three-ship decoy fleet, and jumped into the sea just seconds before the Huge Rune Cannon was fired and destroyed it.
  • You No Take Candle: The sisters in general have trouble with the grammar. Liloon is particular has the worst grammar and seem to have no desire to learn.
    • Subverted with Lilen and Lilon, who can write and speak normally.

    Lilin

Chisatsu Star
Voiced by: Tomoko Kobashi (JP) and Lia Sargent (US)

The first mermaid sister encountered by Lazlo. She was spotted at the cave of the Deserted Island and latter warned the party about Chiepoo being in danger. Lilin is the Chisatsu Star, also known as the Searching Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.

Chii Star
The youngest of the five mermaid sisters. Lilan is accidently caught by Shiramine's net around Nay Island. She is the Chii Star, also known as the Peculiar Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Has brown hair and matching brown eyes.
  • Fishing for Sole: Lilan actually is this. Shiramine catches her in his net and pulls her onboard.
  • Guide Dang It!: Lilan is the hardest mermaid to recruit. First you need to have Shiramine (whom to recruit, you need Ugetsu, a character who appears randomly at the Na-Nal docks), then you have to move the ship to Nay Island and asks Shiramine to lower his net to catch her.
  • Moe: The sweet and innocent little sister of the team.
  • Shrinking Violet: Like her sister Lilin, Lilan is shy and is very wary of humans.
  • Tagalong Kid: Lilan is the youngest and smallest of the sisters.

Chiyou Star
One mermaid sisters, Lilen was found by Lazlo at the Deserted Island's cave. She is the Chiyou Star, also known as the Helpful Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.
  • Brainy Brunette: Has light-brown hair and is the smartest mermaid, alongside her big sister Lilon.
  • Breather Level: Lilen is very easy to recruit, compared to her sisters. She is found at the Deserted Island cave, the same place where Lazlo first saw Lilin. The only drawback is that you need to have recruited Lilin and Taisuke beforehand.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Has purple limbs, Purple Eyes and is the smartest one.
  • The Smart Girl: She doesn't have the peculiar speech pattern of her sisters and is the most adept at writing because she's the only one who bothers to learn.

Chiyuu Star
The oldest of the mermaid sisters, Lilon was found near the Nest of Pirates. She is the Chiyui Star, also known as the Heroic Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Has brown hair and matching brown eyes.
  • Cool Big Sis: Lilon is this to her younger siblings, being the oldest and reliable one. She is also a Team Mom, being responsible for teaching (or at least trying) her sisters the human language and writing.
  • Luck-Based Mission: After talking to a NPC in the Nest of Pirates, you have to keep sailing around the island, and dealing with Random Encounters, until Lilon decides to shows up.
  • The Smart Girl: Lilon has no problem with the humans language and is very adept at their writing.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: Being the oldest sister, Lilon is tall, good-looking, and has brown hair and eyes.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: She is The Big Guy of the team, being older and more confident than her siblings and has a ponytail.
  • Unusual Eyebrows: Her brows are about half the size of her eyes.

The last mermaid sister, Liloon was found in Iluya Harbor after recruiting the other four. She is the Chisa Star, also known as the Aiding Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.

    The Fog Ship Guide

A villain that appears during the "Ted Recruitment" Sidequest. He is the owner of the Fog Ship and offers to save Lazlo from the burden of having the Rune of Punishment.


  • Casting a Shadow: Attacks with the Soul Eater Rune, which he has taken from Ted.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Looks like a floating mass of merged reptile monsters and a glowing hand.
  • Escapism: The Guide offers Lazlo a chance to escape his dark fate as the wearer of the Rune of Punishment and live on his ship.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": He is referred, simply, as "Fog Ship Guide".
  • Filler Villain: He only appears during the (optional) Ted's recruitment arc and has no relevance in the story.
  • Ghost Ship: Inhabits the Fog Ship.
  • Power Parasite: Has the power to take True Runes from it's bearers.
  • We Will Meet Again: In his last words, before Leknaat sends him back to the Eternal City, the Guide makes a vow to return after acquiring more power.

    Mao and Nao

Twin brothers that mysteriously appear in a room on the Ship HQ that shouldn't even exist. A mycologist and horticulturist, respectively. Mao is the "Chitou Star" (the Folding Star) and Nao is the "Chisyun Star" (The Elegant Star) of the 108 Stars of Destiny.


  • Coordinated Clothes: Mao and Nao are twins and their clothes parallel each other: Mao has green hair, green shoes, and wears brown pants; Nao has brown hair, shoes, and green pants. Even their goggles mirror each other, being in opposite directions.
  • Creepy Twins: They have a creep design and a Evil Laugh to boot.
  • Green Thumb: They are experienced mycologists and provide the HQ with a useful harvest of mushrooms and crops of mint.
  • Loners Are Freaks: There's a genuine sense of creepiness when it is found out that someone (or something) has set up shop in the lower decks, conducting bizarre biological experiments.
  • Mad Scientist: Well, mad mycologist and botanist, if you want to be specific.
  • Mini-Game: Mao and his brother operate a bizarre mini-game battle, where the player controls an army of mushroom or mint warriors on a Suikoden 1 inspired miniature battle field.
  • Night-Vision Goggles: They have to work in low-light conditions.
  • Single-Minded Twins: Their are both creepy loners with a sinister laugh and similar interests. Curiously, the duo tend to argue a lot.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: They argue a lot, each insisting that the other cannot continue cultivating his plants.

    Brec

Tenkoku Star
An uncoordinated, rude, and disgustingly dirty Pirate. Brec is the Tenkoku Star, also known as the Wailing Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.
  • Big Eater: Brec has a big appetite and asks for more in the Comment Box.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Has a foul mouth.
  • Gasshole: Brec is known for his horrendous stink.
  • Gonk: He was designed after a stereotypical pirate.
  • Hates Baths: The ending states that he hasn't taken a bath in months.
  • Heavy Sleeper: Brec is said to sleep a lot.
  • Nineties Anti Heroes: He and Jango are two Gonk stereotyped pirates who only joins the Liberation Army because the war prevents them from doing their piracy properly, and they want to get back at business.
  • Random Event: He and Jango randomly turn up on board once 51 characters have been recruited.
  • Seadog Beard: Fitting as he is a very stereotypical pirate.
  • Shock and Awe: In Naval Battles, Brec can use Lightning Rune Cannons.

    Jango

Tenbou Star
Jango is Brec's friend and fellow pirate. He is the Tenbou Star, also known as the Savage Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.
  • Blow You Away: In Naval Battles, Jango can use Wind Rune Cannons.
  • Boisterous Bruiser: Jango is big, loud, and has a big presence due to his '90s Anti-Hero personality.
  • Gonk: He was designed after a stereotypical pirate.
  • Nineties Anti Heroes: He and Brec joins the party because the ongoing war prevents them from doing their piracy properly.
  • Perma-Stubble: Jango is a tough looking pirate and has stubble.
  • Random Event: He and Brec randomly turn up on board once 51 characters have been recruited.
  • Scarf Of Ass Kicking: Wears a green scarf.
  • Status Buff: In Naval Battles, as a captain, Jango grants +2 points to the ship movement range.

A big believer in fate and fortunes. Also has a mysterious means of transportation, as despite the war, he manages to get from island to island with no difficulties. Gunter is the Chisyu Star, also known as the Ugly Star, of the 108 Stars of Destiny.


  • Betting Mini-Game: His chinchirorin game can be played for potch.
  • Blow You Away: In Naval Battles, he can use Wind Rune Cannons.
  • Cheshire Cat Grin: His smile, as seen in his artwork.
  • The Gambler: He's a professional.
  • Money Multiplier: Has the "Discovered Money" ability that grants you extra potch after a fight.
  • Neat Freak: He disliked how the smell of the sea stuck to him whilst on the ship HQ, so he had to take frequent baths to keep his hygiene and fresh smell.
