Mercenaries

    The Boome Marines
A controversial mercenary unit, not because of some dark deeds or hidden secrets, but rather because they happen to be incompetent half the time and extremely lucky the other half. That and the fact that their scientists love to experiment with chems. Because of their armor, nobody is sure if they are humans, cyborgs, aliens or clones of one person. It is later revealed that they are in fact clones of a genetic experiment. A mad Semitic scientist from Terra combined traits from different species to form a super soldier, but he did a sloppy job. So, in order for clones not to break down and go on a murderous rampage, they have to be pumped with chemicals.
  • Artificial Human: It is revealed that the Boome Marines are clones of a genetic experiment, which appeared to look human.
  • Badass Creed: 'Fortune and wealth, may elude us, but as brothers, we are one'
  • Clone Army
  • Faction Motto: 'Charge in first, ask questions later'
  • Hired Guns
  • Meaningful Name: The clones are called the Madacherib. The name is derived from the blend of the Hebrew word for science, mada, and the name of the Assyrian king, Sîn-ahhī-erība, which translates from Akkadian to "Sîn has increased the brothers". In essence, the name means "Science has increased the brothers".
  • Only One Name: Due to being clones, most Boome Marines have no surname from birth. Subverted in case of Varn Merner, who gained his surname through marriage, and Bromun Kreas, who had his surname assigned to him by their "father".
  • Truly Single Parent: The Mad Scientist, in that the clones consider him their father.

  • Doom Troops: Their Standard boots on the field, Panther operatives makes use of this in spades.

    The Terika-Belladonna Company
Assembled by Ms. Terika, who described them as "freelancers without an allegiance," they were cunning and dangerous criminals in search of solidarity, independence, riches, and revenge. During Journey, although hastily united in a less-than-voluntary fashion, the renegades quickly learned to get along out of necessity in a leaderless environment. By the time of Scoundrels, they had become a dangerous pack of rogues, having replaced the Belladonna, which was destroyed during the Oracle War, with the Muramasa.

Organizations

    United Galactic Community
A intergalactic organization established to promote co-operation. Nowadays, it is usually compared to the olden United Nations.

    Wave Galaxias
Formerly a slave division under the Gold Dusts, it was originally a mercenary group known as the Golden Wave, consisting of alien species from various Science Fiction. At its peak (with the era known in the galactic slave market as "Aurum Sclavus"), it had over 150+ members, as well as multiple ships (stolen from the Gold Dusts), with the head ship being the "W-01". Following the events of the Oracle War, the group reformed itself into a humanitarian group, adopting its current name and establishing a defense subsection called the Auxiliators. Besides the established members below, we have knowledge of other members as well:
  • In Journey, Dwan also saw a few Rodians, Twi'leks and Vulcans, a couple Togruta, a Gungan, some Rakosans and Gorn, and a Mentor whilst at Sanctum Outpost.
  • In an interview with Intergalactica, Lagul mentioned that the group has Mudokons, Glukkons, Freezers, Gemmas, Scrin, Yautja and a horde load of Orks.

Journey-era tropes

  • Gladiator Revolt: They revolted from the Gold Dusts on Rigel.
  • Hidden Agenda Group: When Dwan asks Nokhea what they want from him, she tells him that that isn't for him to know.
  • Hired Guns
  • Made a Slave: Due to being a former slave division, many of the Wave's members suffered this. Subverted with its revolt and subsequent independence.
  • Massive Multiplayer Crossover: The group consists of aliens from Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who and more.
  • My Card: Nokhea threw a electronic "real-time" business card onto Dwan. Putting in into a card reader, it displays the names of all 30+ members of the Golden Wave, descriptions for each of them and their price as mercenaries. Subverted after Lagul announced that they would be discontinuing their cards.
  • Renegade Splinter Faction: Inverted. While they did separate from the Gold Dusts, at least in regards of slave rights, they are much better than the original group.
  • Slave Liberation: A policy within the group.

Soldiers within the SSA often participate in parades or mockup conflict exercises.

    Sol System Marine Corps
One of the SDF branches, the SSMC participated in various conflicts during the unification of Sol. Often being deployed ahead of the main military forces, the Sol Marines were some of the most battle-hardened human soldiers to date, almost matching the skill of the SSFD. Out of the many conflicts they participated in, the Battle for God's Refuge is the most famous one, where over 15,000 Marines participated in the assault against the Divinity Creed's massive fortress located on Mars. Following the unification, many of the Marines decided to test their luck in the private sector and many can be found working as bodyguards, private soldiers or venturing the deep space in hope to find riches and glory.

These units include the Highlander Unit, the Aztec Unit, the Samurai Unit and the Sparta Unit. Lion used to be a member of the SSFD.

Captain Daniel McKinze

Leader of the famous Highlander Unit, McKinze is one of the best soldiers to ever serve in the SSFD. A grizzled veteran, he participated in lmost all of the conflicts that followed Sol's acceptance into the UGC. Now works as a freelancing soldier alongside the Edisons.

Lieutenant James Warren

SSFD Units

A list of SSFD units.

Sparta Unit

A unit famous for their many successfull operations against fanatics and terrorists, the Sparta Unit is currently inactive following a traumatic event which led to the death of the unit CO and SO.While listed as inactive, the remaining members are in active service with other units where they act as advisors.

Highlander Unit

One of the first SSFD units created, the fierce Highlander unit were known for taking on the missions noone dared to do. They often completed these missions without as much as a scratch, creating many legends and rumors. The unit was disbanded shortly after and the other members parted ways.

Aztec Unit

Famous for their participation in the battle for the Amazon during the unification, this former marine unit were shot down by a group of radicals wounding all of the members while also making most, if not all, of their firearms completely useless. To this day they train personnel from all SDF branches in survival training.

Samurai Unit

During the unification a auxiliary unit composed of men and women from a variety of noble houses and clans homing from the region of Asia was formed following their request to participate with the regualr SDF units during the unification. While skeptic, a military officer agreed and took it upon himself to lead these auxiliaries into combat. While in combat on Mars, the unit found themselves without ammunition and resorted to ancient melee tactics using ancient weapons inherited from their clans. Surprisingly, this worked well and after the unification they became and official unit.

Wraith Unit

Highly secretive unit not often heard of, the Wraith Unit relies on cloaking technology and audio decoys to lower the enemy morale before striking. All members are cunning in the field of psychological warfare.

Rider Unit

Unit which specializes on scouting and vehicular combat, the Riders are known to disappear as fast as they deploy, often leaving nothing but dead terrorists as proof of them ever being there.

Vking Unit

Unlike most SSFD units the Viking Unit is famous for their raw strength and love for loud, heavy, weaponry rather than stealthy tactics. Often used as shocktroops, the Viking Unit succeeds where marine shocktroops don't.

Dragon Unit

Relying on airborne tactics, the Dragon Unit often favors HE (high explosive) and incendiary wepaonry to cause mayhem and destruction before deploying, giving them the advantage of fighting enemies often inches from surrendering (which they often do).

Apache Unit

Famous for their service during the unification conflict, the apache unit was among one of the first units to land on the moon Titan where they established a beachead. Fighting off thousands of crazed fanatics their spirirts never broke. When reinforcements arrived all but five of the soldiers had died from exhaustion or internal bleeding caused by shrapnel.

Tiger Unit

The Tiger Unit were the ones who managed to secure a bunker on Luna in one hour. Marine units had been throwing themselves at the bunker which was defended by the Lunar Children. Komodo Unit

The Komodo Unit is often deployed to counter threats on Terra. They are famous for neutralizing a terror cell on the verge of bombing the UGC embassy.

Wolf Unit

Using squad tactics, the Wolf Unit usually operate in small two-man teams. They will then flank and surround their targets before engaging from all sides.

Raptor Unit

The now disbanded Raptor Unit were famous for their use of heavy gunships during operations. After bringing down a rogue transport carrying a chemical bomb, the unit retired as the continued effects of strong G-forces had taken its toll on their bodies.

    Sol System Navy
Comprised of a hundred ships, the SSN guards Sol and her planet capital of Terra from both domestic and exterior threats. While not particularly big, the bulk of the SSN is made up of veteran officers that have logged a number of hours in ship-to-ship combat. Aside from protection, the Navy is also tasked with the deployment of the SSMC. The flagship of the SSN is the SNV Terra, a battlecrusier armed to the teeth. During the unification, SNV Terra was tasked with the destruction of any fanatical forces foolish enough to strike back rather than flee. All navy ships carry the "Sol Naval Vessel" prefix ifront of their names.

Captain Valerie Reed

Victor Reed's younger sister, Valerie enlisted to the SDF a few years later after her brother. Having done extensive service in the Navy, she was given command of the SSN cruiser SNV Shadow with the task of eliminating piracy that plagues the northern parts of Mars. Ex-fiance to former Commander Leon Eastlindth.

Admiral Ivan Zhaneys

Commander of a top-secret fleet, admiral Zhaneys rose through the ranks of the SSN after holding back several fanatic ships hellbent on crashing into civilian targets during the unification. Using a single frigate, Zhaneys and his crew managed to eliminate all of the inbound ship before they even got close.

    Sol System Aviational Force
Also known as the Sol Air Force or simply as the Air Force, the SSAF is one of the smaller branches of the SDF. Tasked with aviational defense, the SSAF maintain several planetside bases on Terra, Luna, Mars, Phobos and Titan. There, they often safeguard cities and military assets. Due to the fact that most naval ships carry their own fighters capable of space combat, the SSAF usually rely on in-atmosphere stratobooster aircraft. The SSAF trains fighter pilots for the SSN.

Sol System Office of Intelligence and Defense
Often referred to as the SOID (or "Soid's" if referring to members) the SSOID is a top-secret mixed naval-marine battlegroup created with the sole purpose of eliminating terran fanatics or other highly dangerous threats which could harm Terra. Operating independently from the other SDF branches, the SSOID is composed out of the greatest from the SSN, SSMC and even veterans of the SSFD meaning that they are not to be underestimated. Currently the SSOID are actively hunting down the few remaining fanatical groups which fled Sol during the unification.

Director Talwin Williams

Director of the SSOID, Talwin is a veteran marine who helped secure Luna. A prominent intelligence officer, Talwin planted false intel amongst the enemy while also gathering intelligence from the enemy, allowing him and his fellow soldiers to outmaneuver numerous enemy combatants. For his extraordinary service he was given a position within the SSOID where he climbed the ranks quickly.

Combat Medic Hannah Davis

A veteran from Mars, Davis is no stranger to the brutal reality of combat. During her early service she helped save more than hundred lives as the SSMC pushed on towards God's Refuge.

Kanads

    The Kanad Collective
Based on the planet Kanadys, the Collective is a authoritarian regime created as a solution to what had been an unending cycle of conflict. Kanad society had been based around clans, allowing for large shifts in status. The Collective established three clans: the Rozels, the Vor'Pangns, and the Sidikans; as the only legitimate rulers of the planet, while subjugating all others permanently, with very few exceptions. By creating order and harnessing the production power of the entire population, the Kanads turned their fury outward and conquered several neighbors in a quest to achieve empire. Nowadays, it is more docile thanks to the United Galactic Community's presence, but still voices concerns about the rise of humanity.

    Offworlders
A small but significant portion of the kanad population, Offworlders are members of the ruling clans which decide to exit the Collective's labor pool by accepting contracts with foreign ships. Doing so is extremely risky, as the state is known to treat Offworlders with extreme suspicion and have even barred them from returning due to issues beyond their control. Offworlders are usually well-educated, trained with a rifle, but unfamiliar with the cultures of others.

    The Black Fleet
Known by Kanads as the Osch Batakya, this fighting force derived its name as a distinction from the existing blue navy which patrols the oceans of Kanadys. In terms of sheer numbers, the Black Fleet is possibly the largest fleet fielded by a single state in the galaxy, but this is somewhat meaningless given the wide spread of units across the Collective and surrounding states. The chief concern of the Black Fleet currently is to combat piracy, but it also serves as a tool to intimidate. The Black Fleet once razed an entire rival civilization on the planet of Koda.

    State Security
A widespread intelligence network despised by pirates, criminals, most humans, and offworlders alike. Using informants and field agents, the organization maintains an extremely low profile by blending in perfectly with groups of offworlders when collecting information. However, the SS is closely tied to the Black Fleet, and so higher ranking officers often have access to deadly force, which they apply in the pursuit of the protection of state interests, regardless of the legality involved.

Ayr

    Ayr Empire
The government of the Ayr people, fittingly headquartered on the planet Ayr. Built up as an aristocracy in the following of an emperor respected as a demi-god, the Ayr are known for being commercial, academic, and highly productive, as well as haughty and disdainful of their galactic neighbors, sometimes bordering on outright racism. Although possessing a presence in the UGC General Council, the Ayr choose to remain independent in most regards and have little faith in the organization. Within, society is grouped into Houses; there are twelve "High" houses which retain control over professional guilds and receive superior rights to those living in the "Low" houses.

Alternative Title(s): Spaceship Crew RP
