The Galactic Federation of Free Alliances

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/324aae5f_3bb4_4288_a811_766261e922b7.png

With the end of the Galactic Civil War being succeeded by the invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong, the ill-fated New Republic was a sad story in galactic history, and the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances was to be its rightfully-earned happy ending. A successor to the Republic’s ideals of democracy and freedom, the Alliance emerged victorious from the Yuuzhan Vong War and stood to become a major player in the post-war galactic community. Unfortunately, it was not to last.

After about a century of ruling, a terraforming project using Yuuzhan Vong technology, meant to be a symbol of reconciliation between the Vong and their old enemies, was sabotaged by the One Sith, framing the Vong for a genocide and inciting outrage and rebellions across the Alliance. Sensing weakness, the power-hungry Moffs of the reborn Galactic Empire seized on the opportunity and conquered the Alliance, leaving its remaining military as little more than a rebel movement.

The Alliance Remnant

    Gar Stazi

Admiral Gar Stazi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gar_stazi_legacy_tv_tropes.jpg

Species: Duros

Appears in: Legacy | Legacy Vol. 2

The last Admiral of the Galactic Alliance. He would later represent in the Galactic Triumvirate.

  • Berserk Button: Never tell him about surrender. Unless it's the enemy's surrender.
  • Breakout Character: John Ostrander, the creator behind Stazi, only meant to include him on Trust Issues as a way to explain what had happened to the remnants of the Galactic Alliance. However, due to positive fan reaction and his own enjoyment in writing the character, Ostrander decided to expand the character further and create an arc that revolved around him.
  • Determinator: Absolutely refuses to give up the fight against the Empire and the Sith despite overwhelming odds against him and his men, years of being on the run and decreasing numbers and ships.
  • Four-Star Badass: A very competent and though admiral who has fought and outsmarted the imperials for years and is no slouch as a fighter himself.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Imperial media portrays him as nothing more than a pirate.
  • Nothing Up My Sleeve: He hid a vibro-shiv in his sleeve while meeting with Emperor Fel's representative on the Wheel, just in case the meeting was a setup.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: While he's a bit harsh, he's still more reasonable than the majority of the other potential rulers and is fighting for the people of the galaxy's betterment.
  • Rebel Leader: He leads what remains of the Galactic Alliance, and fights against the tyranny of Darth Krayt's Sith Empire.
  • Rousing Speech:
Stazi: Win or lose, live or die—some battles must be fought. If we choose to do nothing, then we kill hope. I will fight this fight—alone if I must. But I will fight.
  • The Strategist: He didn't become admiral and kept the Galactic Alliance Remnants for so long with basic strategic and tactical skills, having been able of foreseeing the trap set by the imperials at Caamas and of finding ways for him and his forces here and countless other times, and of completely foreseeing admiral Valan's plan at Dac and of foiling every part of it.
