Characters / Smosh Games

Go To

Smosh Games started life in late 2012 as a videogame-based spinoff of Smosh. Since then, its hosts have let their personalities expand and exaggerate until the channel is more of a comedy show with an Ensemble Cast and a videogame theme. This makes them fair game for a character sheet.

Current Smosh Games hosts

    open/close all folders

    Mari (Mari Takahashi)
For tropes applying to Mari as a Survivor contestant, see here.
  • Action Girl: Probably one of the best and toughest competitors in work-out, dancing, and motion-sensor fighting games for Kinect.
  • Asian and Nerdy: Very smart, into comics (or at least into Wolverine), and one hell of a gamer.
  • Asian Drivers: She's really bad in driving games, especially in Mario Kart, where she keeps on accidentally killing herself. Averted entirely in the Grand Theft 5 Game Bang where she came in FIRST.
  • Break the Cutie: In the more horror genre games of her Super Mari Fun Time and game bangs involving scary games like Five Nights at Freddy's, she's subjected to this.
  • The Corrupter: Responsible for about half of the chaos Lasercorn wreaks, either by provoking or encouraging him. The other half is because he's a freaking lunatic.
  • Cross Player: Has the tendency to play as male characters, which she lampshades in the "Rock Band Rocks" episode when she wonders why she always wants to be men.
  • Decoy Protagonist: In Maricraft (Which named after her), aside from first few episodes (When there's only her and Lasercorn) and Block of Love, the shows is more focus on Wes and Lasercorn
  • Everyone's Baby Sister: Even though she's the second oldest member of the group, the others are often very protective of her. In the "We Ride Each Other Like Jet Ski" video, they worry over her a lot and try their best to keep her from falling off. In the "We Are Vengeful Gods" video, Flitz took her punishment for her. Also, her teammates (particularly Sohinki) are generally less hostile towards her whenever she screws up, compared to how they would be if anyone else causes the team to lose.
  • Fiery Redhead: She formerly dyed her hair bright red to match her aggressive personality. These days she dyes it purple.
  • Fragile Speedster: Nimble and agile, but not especially physically strong.
  • Friend to All Living Things: In Maricraft she is able to befriend the animals and was the first to discover how to adopt them as pets and to give them names as well as ride them
Sohinki: Maybe she's a dolphin whisperer, Wes some people have the gift and some people don't
  • Genki Girl: Mari is very energetic and cheerful.
  • Graceful in Their Element: Is a trained ballerina, and usually excels in games that require physical movement, even when she loses in most other games.
  • Gratuitous Foreign Language: Mari sometimes exclaims words or phrases in Japanese with an exaggerated accent, though she is fluent in Japanese.
  • Gamer Chick: She hosts the channel's subseries Maricraft, where she plays Mine Craft. She can also keep up with the guys in most of the Game Bang challenges, especially if it's a physical/dance game.
  • I Don't Know Mortal Kombat: In the Rock Climbing Game Bang, she scored the lowest out of her team even though she's a rock climber in real life (her team still won though).
  • The Nicknamer: The most likely of the group to call people by Affectionate Nicknames.
  • Older Than They Look: Mari is actually the second oldest member of Smosh Games.
  • One of the Guys: Why do the Smosh Games insist on using "girl punishments", such as making the losers wear dresses of shame, for their Game Bang videos, when there's an actual girl in the team? Because, according to the others, Mari is a man. And she actually hates wearing the Dress of Shame more than the actual guys do, even though she looks good in them.
  • Plucky Girl: Scary games? Getting beat down by the others? Going through a punishment? She can take it and come out of it smiling.
  • The Scapegoat: Mari is often blamed for failure in Grand Theft Smosh, such the time she took heat for going to the wrong airport (even though Ian was driving). She still gets off easy in comparison to Jovenshire, who is a Cosmic Plaything as well as a scapegoat.
  • She's Got Legs: No surprise considering she's a dancer.
  • Shipper on Deck: Always encourages the boys to start making-out whenever two are paired.
  • Ship Tease: She's very frequently paired with Sohinki when there's a team challenge in Game Bang, and they work incredibly well together.
  • Slapstick Knows No Gender: No mercy is given to her in punishments, helps that in times that she accidentally gets hurt like when playing in Zorp ball she takes it like a champ.
  • Team Mom: Mari shows more care for her friends than the others members do, she gives them affectionate nicknames and will jump to protect or help them if they are in trouble. She will tell other members off for going to far with a joke or will give a What the Hell, Hero? to certain members for killing animals in a game or pointlessly murdering someone in the game.
  • The Smurfette Principle: The sole female in a 6 (sometimes 8) people group. Averted with the addition of Boze, making it Two Girls to a Team.
  • Twofer Token Minority: She's an Asian girl hanging out with a bunch of white guys.

    Damien (Damien Haas)
  • Gosh Darn It to Heck!: He very rarely curses on camera, and if he does he usually sanitizes it by saying things like "Oh biscuits" or "Son of a goose".
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Shayne.
  • Nice Guy: Somehow didn't get mad at Shayne after he threw away Damien's Statue of Endless Fortune. He is also seen as being polite to everyone.
  • The Nicknamer: Usually this to Boze and Joven. His various nicknames for Joven have included, but are not limited to; Jovert, Jogurt, Jobert, Joe Dirt, Jumpus, The Hudge, Jogi Yogi, Crumpet, and Cranston (like Bryan Cranston).
  • Those Two Guys: Him and Shayne.

    Lasercorn (David Moss)
  • Affably Evil: When he's indulging in his Ax-Crazy tendencies, he usually acts like this.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Completely Defied. Lasercorn never begs. Telling Lasercorn to beg or plea will result in him throwing insults.
  • Ax-Crazy: Lasercorn is without a doubt the most inclined towards the most violent option out of the gang. According to Sohinki, in the event of a zombie apocalypse, he fully expects to have Lasercorn show up out of the blue "covered in blood and guts because he's crazy."
Joven: Lasercorn is one crazy mother f***er.
  • Berserk Button: Lasercorn hates being called by his real name. According to Jovenshire, stealing Lazercorn's food will result in a beating.
  • The Berserker: Tends towards this in pretty much any game that involves violence, and quite a few that don't.
  • Big Eater: Is usually nibbling on something whenever he's in frame. "Pulling a Lasercorn" is the crew's term for eating as soon as food is in one's hand, just because he does it so often.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: A minor one in the case of him and Ian. When Ian didn't pick him for the 2nd Smosh Winter Games and Anthony did, it's safe to say that Iancorn was, comedically, heading towards a breakup. Needless to say, Lasercorn didn't really react so well to not getting picked by Ian.
Lasercorn: "Eat a d*ck! I'm sexy! If you don't snap me up, someone else will!"
  • The Cameo: He, with Sohinki, sometimes make appearances on Smosh Games following their departure from the channel.
  • Catch Phrase:
    • "I never agreed to any of this!" whenever he gets thrown into a situation he's not comfortable with (usually during a Game Bang or Cell Outs episode)
    • "Get wrecked!", which also doubles as a Battle Cry, whenever he plays a fighting or battling game.
  • Crazy-Prepared: The quickest way to Lasercornia is to go through the portal in his house. Inside, however, is an insane maze of dead ends and dummy portals, making it incredibly difficult to find the portal that actually leads to Lasercornia, which is set on top of a thin tower that, as Mari proved, is easy to fall off of if you're not paying attention. And on top of all that, Lasercornia itself is rigged to the teeth with explosive traps and dispensers that eject potions of harming. Seriously, do not mess with Lasercorn's stuff.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Played for Laughs. In a Bonus vlog, he was asked why he hates balls so much. His story was that he was raised in a fishing village off the coast of Scandinavia, until it was raided by Viking genitals, who burned down the village and killed his family.
  • The Dreaded: At least in MariCraft and Grand Theft Smosh. Nine times out of ten, the rest of the Smosh Gang is living in fear of his next bout of insanity in both games.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Proved himself to be a very reckless and dangerous (golf cart) driver in the Extreme Golf Carting cell outs video, where he deliberately sped over the slopes and swerved around wildly (almost crashing into trees and sometimes the other crew members), all the while laughing maniacally. Then, he also tried to sabotage Mari and Sohinki's ride by climbing into their cart and pressing the gas pedal because they were moving too slowly. The others said that this was pretty much how he actually drives.
Wes: Lasercorn is the worst driver... riding with him is so scary,
  • Even Evil Has Standards: For all the stuff Lasercorn does, even he has limits. The Red Dead Redemption episode of Backseat Gaming ended with Lasercorn leaving in disgust after Jovenshire had him hogtie a woman and leave her to die on the train tracks, thinking it was too far.
  • Happily Married: Was the first Smosh member who was married for quite a while, and from what we know of, it's a very happy union.
  • Hunting the Most Dangerous Game: While playing Minecraft in Maricraft he wanted to hunt the other members for sport.
  • Insistent Terminology: He won the LVP (Least Valuable Player) Award during the Smosh Summer Games, but would insist that the title stands for "Laser Vision Pro" whenever it's mentioned.
  • Kubrick Stare: The "laser stare"
Jovenshire: You keep those creepy eyes off me and keep them on the screen!
  • Large Ham: Usually always loud and very hammy in any of his evil schemes.
  • The Napoleon: Short and scrappy, with a hatred of balls which stems from some childhood trauma. Maybe.
  • Nuke 'em: Once he figured out how to craft nukes in Minecraft, he sets one off at the prison...and another one off at Sanctuary...and another one at the Twilight Lich's castle...every single one of them crashes the game.
  • Oh, Crap!: Lasercorn pulls off a beautiful expression of this after he messed up his turn in Mario Party 10. It's seen at 6:53.
  • Older Than They Look: He's the oldest member of the Smosh Games team at 32, but looks younger than many of the others.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: When Sohinki accidentally called Lasercorn by his real name, many of the fans were actually more surprised to know his name was David.
  • Oo C Is Serious Business: He calmly declared a truce after the gang burned down Lasercornia, causing everyone to freak out. Then he summoned The Wither.
  • Rage Against the Heavens: In Maricraft, upon discovering that a cloud was causing acid rain he decides to fight the cloud and its occupant despite it being colossal and having an advantage against him. Lasercorn also wanted to fight Wes in Naked Survival Challenge after Wes's character was compared to god
  • Real Men Wear Pink: His channels outro song is called Love Times Two and he loves playing with his son but when he is on the Smosh Games channel he is the most aggressive, violent and successful in terms of getting dates which is shown when he impresses Courtney on a date in Grand Theft Smosh.
  • Ship Tease: He and Ian was forced to do a dance punishments together in the first Game Bang episode that features a dance game. Ever since then, the whole crew has shipped them together, calling them "Iancorn".
  • Signature Move: Raptor Claws!
  • Storyboard Body: There is a story behind his tattoo. One of Lasercorn's friends was going to be shipped out to Iraq and as a going away present, he said that they would do anything he wanted. The soldier requested that they get tattoos and both of them submitted their tattoo ideas. When they reached their appointment the tattoo artist thought that the submissions were a joke and when Jovenshire finally saw the tattoo, he wanted to call him "Lasercorn" and from then on, the name stuck.
  • Super-Powered Alter Ego:
    • Riot Shield Man, who... carries a riot shield.
    • In Grand Theft Smosh he becomes "Officer Corn" whenever he steals a police car. He also had a brief but memorable turn as "The Mixer."
  • Token Evil Teammate: Usually fills this role in Maricraft and Grand Theft Smosh, as he's 95% of the time the one who's stirring up trouble.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Before he was just a Large Ham who tended to be Crazy he's much more Ax-Crazy and a total Blood Knight
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: He's always the first to complain whenever the Smosh is tasked to play rhythm games, especially dancing games.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Had bright orange hair for a month after losing a bet with Sohinki. When the color eventually grew out, he missed it and decided to have it dyed back in, though his new shade was bright red instead.

Former Hosts

    Wes the Editor (Wesley Johnson)
  • The Ace: Tossed between him and Sohinki in the early days, but basically becomes this following Sohinki's departure from the channel
  • Annoying Laugh: The crew make fun of his high-pitched "Elmo laugh."
  • Badass Driver: Wes is very good at driving games, and tends to do very well in the hijinks of Grand Theft Smosh.
  • The Big Guy: At 6'3, he is noticeably taller than the rest of the group.
  • Butt-Monkey: Along with Jovenshire, he's likely to be blamed for "Wessing up" anything that goes wrong (even if it's not his fault), and his associated tagline is "Wes ruins everything".
  • Even the Guys Want Him: Wes has received flirtatious comments from Sohinki and Jovenshire. For example, in Grand Theft Smosh, Sohinki said that he treats Wes better than Joven and how he would make dinner for Wes after a hard day at work.
  • Fallen Hero: Previously Wes was a Sitcom Arch-Nemesis to Lasercorn, but after Lasercorn robbed and murdered him in Maricraft and Flitz did nothing about it, Wes attempted to destroy Sanctuary, killed Mari, and killed all the animals that Flitz and Mari had captured, all the while proclaiming that he was doing the right thing and berating Flitz for being a pacifist. Wes completely embraced being a fallen hero for a while, happily engaging in the same chaos and madness that Lasercorn is known for. This seems to have worn off.
  • The Ghost: Formerly. Before he appeared on camera, his snarky editorial comments were all you could see of him.
  • Hopeless with Tech: Despite being an editor of the show, the others (particularly Sohinki and Lasercorn) complain that he breaks every piece of technology he touches.
  • Instant Expert: Joven questions how he could so good at winning the Game Bang challenges when he's never played half of the games they featured.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: The beauty of his hair has been repeatedly mentioned by the rest of the Smosh Games crew.
  • Manchild: Goes "Wheeeeeee!" so often while playing a game it's practically his catch phrase. Giggles a lot, too. Mari describes him as "An eight year old in a giant man's body."
    Boze: Yeah, Wes, grow up.
    Wes: No! I refuse!
  • Mighty Glacier: He's not the most nimble among the crew, as he lost against Lasercorn in an obstacle race, and was the ultimate loser when the crew played Shape Up for a game bang episode (as the challenges played mostly involve agility). However, he's strong enough to do push-ups while having Mari sit on his back, and is able to run around the gym while shoulder carrying Joven.
  • Never My Fault: When things go wrong he makes "Wescuses" for his poor play.
  • Nice Guy: Is a very pleasant and fun person, and less chaotic compared to the rest of the crew.
  • Person as Verb: "You Wes'd it up" is often used by the others, often when Wes breaks something or messes something up in whatever game they're playing at the moment.
  • Pretty Boy: The others often call him a "pretty girl".
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Wes was able to do push ups while having Mari on his back with little difficulty (though he collapsed while trying to carry Joven and Ian) while wearing pink shorts.
  • Sixth Ranger: He and FLitz were the newest members of the Smosh Games crew.
  • Sweet Tooth: Adores chocolate chip pancakes, pudding, and sweets. He even mentions chocolate croissants as being the most notable thing he can cook. It really adds to his childish personality. Sohinki lampshades this when he insists that Wes' stream of consciousness is "Candy, doughnuts, chocolate, candy, League of Legends."
    • He was giddy with delight after winning a year's supply of Reese's Puffs.
    • Upon discovering that the "health insurance" of an elf internship consisted of free unlimited access to cookies, he immediately declared it the best thing ever.
Wes: I'm pretty sure my blood is just high fructose corn syrup at this point.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: When he decides to destroy Sanctuary, kill Mari and kill all of the animals within the sanctuary because Lasercorn killed him and robbed him in Maricraft
  • You Are Fat: His peers often jokingly call him "fat Wes" due to his size and his love for sweets. He does carry a bit more flesh than the others, but it's mostly muscle.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Dyes his hair silver for a cosplay, and has yet to dye it back to its natural brown.

    Ian (Ian Hecox)
  • Berserk Button: Getting distracted by the other's during a game will cause him to rage.
  • Butt-Monkey: After Joven, Ian is probably the one who gets the most losses, and therefore suffered a lot of the ridiculous forfeit punishments.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Ian is the red oni to Anthony's blue, being seen as the more immature and more prone to flying off into a rage throwing when he doesn't do well in a Game Bang episode.
  • Ship Tease: He and Lasercorn became known as "Iancorn" when they were forced to do a dance duet together for losing the first Just Dance Game Bang.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Used to be at the bottom like with the Jillian Michael's fitness game, but is usually either in the middle or first.
  • What Beautiful Eyes!: Has very clear blue eyes that many fans consider attractive.

    Anthony (Anthony Padilla)
  • Catch Phrase: "Bitch!" or "Fuck my Life!"
  • Dragged into Drag: Was forced to dress as an Afro Ballerina after fans of the Food Battle: The Game voted that outfit as their favourite.
  • Lovable Coward: Usually screams, whines and whimpers at scary games. Even when he's not playing them.
  • Peek-a-Bangs: He used to sport an "emo hair" where his bangs hangs down over half of his face. He lampshades this in one of the Game Bang videos, where he said that Rosalina's hair resembles his old style.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Anthony is the blue oni to Ian's red, as he tends to be more calm and mature when participating in the Game Bang episodes.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Whenever he panics or gets caught off-guard.
  • Ship Tease: Though initially overshadowed by "Marhinki" and "Iancorn", "Jovanthony" is starting to rise in popularity due to them having lady-and-the-tramp'd in Killer Pandas eats us, and Anthony's offering to make out with Joven in Sack to the Face.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Pointed out by the others as he prepared to hit Mari with a sack in Sack to the Face.

    Sohinki (Matt Sohinki)
  • The Ace: He's good at almost everything — he's usually one of the top scorers in the Game Bang episodes, and usually carries his team to victory in team battles.
  • Accidental Pervert: In "Sexy Hot Tub Truth or Dare", he accidentally touched one of Boze's breasts while blindfolded.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Mari calls him "Sohin."
  • Big Brother Bully: He has two older brothers, whom he fights with frequently. He mentions that they often monopolize the game console and play by themselves while he watches, or make him play the sucky characters when they do co-op games with him.
  • Brainy Brunette: He's very strategic and clever in games.
  • Bullying a Dragon: He's one of the more verbal members of group when it comes to the group insulting each other but in the Real Life Car Destruction episode, he is revealed to be one of the weakest members as he didn't do as much damage to the car in comparison to Jovenshire who was able to do alot of damage to the car door in an attempt to break the door off. Sohinki regularly picks on Joven during episodes of Maricraft and Grand Theft Smosh. Jovenshire has multiple swords in his car and has been trained on how to use the swords.
  • Butt-Monkey: The others make fun of his ''try hard'' attitude and ''Sohinkiism''.
  • The Cameo: He, with Lasercorn, sometimes make appearances on Smosh Games following their departure from the channel.
  • Celebrity Resemblance: Frequently said to bear a lot of resemblance with Steve Buscemi.
  • Cowardly Lion:
    • He was absolutely terrified and didn't want to play Five Nights at Freddy's, but still managed to play and make it to the second night.
    • When playing Slender The Arrival in a Backseat Gaming Video he spent the whole time saying how much he hated it and didn't want to play before both him and Lasercorn Fear Quit.
  • In-Series Nickname: The others call him "So-Kinky" at times, because he's so good at rhythm games like singing and dancing.
  • Insult Backfire: When Lasercorn and Jovenshire said that Sohinki was a butt pirate he adopted the title and agreed with them but he may not of been aware of the fact that butt pirate was a term for a homosexual man.
  • Informed Judaism: He has a Jewish background, but aside from an occasional mention of the fact, or being the brunt of some Greedy Jew jokes, he doesn't exhibit any typically Jewish behaviour.
  • Jack-of-All-Trades: He's one of the most balanced players in the Game Bang challenges, so even when he plays games he's not as good in, he's rarely in the "losers" pile.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Inverted. He's generally a nice guy, and is quite good team player. However, he's also extremely competitive, and losing a game would bring out the try-hard, complainy, Sore Loser side of him.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: In JOVEN QUITS SMOSH GAMES, Sohinki constantly acts like a Jerkass, mocking Jovenshire for being a bronze player in GTAV heists. Come the end of the video, Joven gets a platinum while Sohinki gets a bronze.
  • Last-Name Basis: The rest of the cast either goes by nicknames or their usual first names. Except for Sohinki, who goes by his actual last name.
  • Nice Guy: We Smite Each Other ft The Warp Zone, he was nothing but encouraging and kind to his team, giving them advice and praising them constantly. It was a refreshing change from his usual try hard mode.
  • Non-Action Guy: Isn't keen to participate in physical fights, as demonstrated in the "Pokemons We'd Kill" video, where he deliberately chose the weakest Pokemons so that he doesn't actually have to fight them.
  • Person as Verb: Someone "being Sohinki" or "pulling a Sohinki" is trying too hard, making too many excuses for his poor play, or simply focusing on winning to the point where the other players aren't having fun anymore.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: He's, in his own words, a sucker for adorable things, and one of his favorite games is the cutesy, pastel-colored The Adventures of Cookie and Cream, which he not only admitted to but defended in the face of the others' mockery.
  • Self-Deprecation: He recognizes his tryhard/Sore Loser tendencies and sometimes call himself out for it. He'd also willingly use his Person as Verb if other players are being too salty.
  • Ship Tease: "Marhinki" is a very popular pairing among the fanbase; even the Smosh Gang have suggested "a little Marhinki action" whenever the two are paired.
  • Sore Loser: Not horribly so, but he will come up with many excuses for why he loses.
  • Squishy Wizard: Not very physically formidable, but arguably the best gamer on the crew.
  • Super-Powered Alter Ego: Knife Man Guy, who fights crime with a stock of horrific knife-related puns, plus the actual knife.
  • The Rival: With Shayne for a little while, especially in the 2nd Summer Games. They were forced to put aside their differences in the following Winter Games when they were placed on the same team.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: At the start of Smosh Games, he was very chill. Nowadays, combined with the fact everyone is trying to get him to lose, he's become more competitive, but he is still pretty cool and an overall likable guy.
  • Unaffected by Spice: Sohinki has a ridiculously high tolerance for spice, and is able to eat a dollop of 6.3 million scoville hot sauce without being too bothered by it.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: In Attacking Jovens Shire, Sohinki kills Jovens peaceful Ent causing Flitz to leave out of anger along with a desire to kill him, Wes wanted Flitz to kill Sohinki and Mari called the act "super evil" but Mari was further angered after the lava caused the death of a raccoon where she called him a "devil". Given their reactions in comparison to his other acts this can be considered his Moral Event Horizon.

    FLitz Nerdsworth (Amra Ricketts)
  • Acting Unnatural: In Grand Theft Smosh Jovenshire said "Flitz I need you to be Fitz in front of the military base" afterwards Flitz accidentally flew a helicopter into the base then stole a jet and crashed it. Wes, Jovenshire and even Flitz himself said that he is only needed to dance in front of the base.
  • "Awesome McCool" Name: Aside from his nickname FLitz Nerdsworth, his real name Amra Ricketts sounds just as cool.
  • Berserk Button: If he and Mari are in the same game, then it isn't the best idea to attack and or kill Mari when she hasn't done anything to deserve it.
  • Black and Nerdy: A huge comic book fan, big gamer, and very intelligent.
  • Black Dude Dies First:
    • In Real Life Mafia, Flitz was the first to be killed in both rounds when they had to guess who the murderer was.
    • In the Escape from Pedobear Maze of Doom, Flitz complained that the bears are racist because they keep on targeting him, and making him the ultimate loser of that particular Game Bang episode.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: While Flitz will play flirt with Mari during games such as complimenting her character's appearance and body, He will defend Mari if she forced to do something. Such as taking a punishment for her after she lost a match or trying to protect her during Maricraft or Grand Theft Smosh.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: When he's not the only sane man on the show, he's usually fulfills this role with strange stories and weird comments.
  • Dragged into Drag: Was one of the losers in the "Adult Twister Game" and was forced to do another twister round with the others in a Dress of Shame.
  • Eyepatch of Power: Had one for a while, with a modified version of The Flash logo on it.
  • Eye Scream: He developed Aphakia after an accident while he was wearing glasses. According to Tobuscus, Flitz broke his glasses by running into a door and the shards got into his eye, requiring surgery to remove them.
  • The Gadfly: When the group was playing upside-down Doodle Jump for a Cell Out episode, he pranked the others (well, just Shayne and Sohinki) by blowing raspberries on their exposed bellies.
  • Gender-Blender Name: His real name, Amra, is actually a feminine name meaning "princess".
  • Never Bare Headed: He's almost always wearing some sort of hat, and has sometimes worn two caps at the same time. He was barely recognizable when he shows up without his cap and glasses during a Smosh Summer Games episode.
  • Nice Guy: He is one of the few members to be nice to Jovenshire even consoling him after he accidentally committed suicide while he was playing Grand Theft Auto for Game Bang.
  • The Nicknamer: Flitz is mainly the one to give nicknames and codenames to people during videos.
  • Online Alias: In Maricrift as "Homie Attenbourogh" and "Punz McKenzie".
  • Only Sane Man: While embracing the madness of Smosh Games, he has a few moments where he is the only one to call out the other members on their callousness. For example he was the only one to be disturbed Sohinki's and Jovenshire's ruthlessness when they threw an old woman at Lasercorn while they were fighting Lasercorn in Mortal Kombat.
    • Plays this role constantly in Maricraft by questioning some of the action some of the member make. Mostly lasercorn.
  • Pungeon Master: The best of the crew at puns and wordplay by a large margin.
  • Sixth Ranger: He wasn't a part of the original Smosh Games main cast, only becoming a full-fledged member in 2014.
  • Super-Powered Alter Ego: "Blackquaman" (FLitz's character in Grand Theft Smosh whenever he falls into the water).
  • Token Minority: He's the token black guy of the main group.
  • Weirdness Magnet: A lot of strange things happen when Flitz is playing a game such as being chased by a small zombie riding a chicken across water in Minecraft.
  • What Kind of Lame Power Is Heart, Anyway?: Flitz insists that he has a power to hold his breath underwater for a longer period of time than a regular person which resulted in Lasercorn calling him the lamest superhero ever.

    Jovenshire (Joshua Ovenshire)
  • The Ace: He's pretty much a master of Injustice: Gods Among Us, being the undefeated champion of the Game Bang episode featuring that game, and even managed to win against Ian with a severed handicap. See also Handicapped Badass.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: Joven's jokes are usually terrible and groan worthy. However, in 8 Player Super Smash Bros (Game Bang), he makes a short quip directed at Ian — and everyone actually laughs at it.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Mari tends to call Joven "Jovie" once in a while.
  • The Alleged Car: His previous car was old, beat up, dented, and paint-scratched.
Joven: Don't make fun of my car. It's been through Hell and back. It's my apocalypse car. It can't stop.
  • Angrish: When he gets frustrated, he would throw a tantrum scream out a long string of random profanities, which the others refer to as the "Jovenrage".
  • Annoying Laugh: He sounds like a walrus when he laughs too hard, and the others would regard his "walrus laugh" with a mixture of amusement and disgust.
  • The Atoner: In FACE HUMPED BY ALIENS (Game Bang), Joven kept dying and team-killing, and even at one point abandoned Wes in rage, which caused them to lose. Feeling that he was completely at fault, Joven resolved to make it up to Wes by taking his portion of the punishment, telling him to save himself.
  • Berserk Button:
    • After the other members started mocking his love of superheroes and supervillains by calling him "Mud Butt," he attacks them for an entire episode of Grand Theft Smosh and you can see a Tranquil Fury when someone called him Mud Butt in Game Bang.
    • Don't insult/mock his love of comics. According to him, while at comic con an attractive woman noticed his fangs wrist tattoo. She flirtatiously asked him "Do you sparkle in the sunlight too?" which resulted in him sternly telling her to leave him alone ("I need you to go to the other side of the convention because we can't talk anymore, at all").
    • Grand Theft Smosh seems to tread on these with regularity. He goes into a foaming, frustrated rage nearly Once an Episode.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: In Maricraft: Outlaster, Joven sees himself as a The Chessmaster and tries to play his teammates against each other. Not only that, he more than often ends up being The Load which didn't win him any favours at all. Unfortunately, everyone sees his tricks a mile away and he's eventually voted off before the climax once they're finally sick of his Chronic Backstabbing Disorder. The only reasons why he lasted as long as he did was because his team won all their matches, and all the other players have bigger fish to fry.
  • Blind Without 'Em: He can't see well even when he has his glasses on (having a lot of difficulty reading the lyrics when doing a singing game), and claims to be partially blind without them.
  • Butt-Monkey: Is someone getting picked on? Is someone losing? Is someone getting picked on for losing? 9 out of 10 times it's Jovenshire. And even when he isn't losing, the others still try to turn the punishment on him.
  • The Chewtoy:
  • Cool Loser: He has the worst win/lose ratio in both the Game Bang and Cage Match series, but he takes his punishments quite well.
  • Didn't Want an Adventure: Joven tries to live peacefully and avoid adventure in Maricraft
  • Dragged into Drag: If there's a cross-dressing punishment, it'll likely be Joven.
  • The Dragon: While Joven often takes the spotlight when the channel makes announcements or behaves as someone who avoids all forms of danger and adventure. Joven actively takes part in Lasercorns destruction and was on almost all the rankings in the Top 5 darkest Smosh Games Moments when alongside Lasercorn. Joven also assists Sohinki in causing trouble when they had moments of peace. Joven often acts on his purposes at times and Joven used to lead Lasercorn and Sohinki in causing chaos at the promise of entertainment or at the promise of a reward, only for them to attack him for their own sadistic entertainment.
  • Drives Like Crazy: According to Lasercorn, to have Joven drive you around is to take your life in your hands, though this is more because of his bad eyesight (which causes him to overlook incoming cars and other signs), rather than deliberate recklessness. However, he, alongside Lasercorn, played this trope straight during the Extreme Golf Carting cell outs video, as he actually hijacked the golf cart from Sohinki (who was driving so slowly he could outwalk them) to speed around with it.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: While Jovenshire is willing to kill children in Skyrim he shows remorse when forced to kill Han Solo and Chewbacca.
  • Expansion Pack Past: He was a paranormal investigator, a financial advisor, did kid's parties, had a car accident, died & revived (possibly several times), had a heart attack, gotten electrocuted, had cancer, dropped out of college, is possibly a felon, and had sex in the (pre-2016) Smosh studio.
  • Faster Than They Look: He appears to be one of the most unfit of the group but he has taken part in sports such as boxing and is one of the more athletic members.
  • Handicapped Badass: Not only did Joven win the Injustice: Gods Among Us Game Bang, but he managed to win every single round, even when Sohinki and Lasercorn took his glasses and controller.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: He and Wes were room mates and, as shown in the Cut The Rope video, they are OK with getting physical with each other. However, those moments are rarely ever played as Ship Tease.
  • I Know Mortal Kombat: As the Injustice: Gods Among Us Game Bang episode shows, he is highly skilled at fighting games. He doesn't always win outright, but he is almost never among the losers.
  • Iron Butt Monkey: He has had items thrown at him, been hit in the groin many times, was slapped a lot, has been electrocuted, and had a plate smashed over his head with a piece lodged into it in that resulted in bleeding. The guy can take anything!
  • In-Series Nickname: Others often call him "Old Man Joven" because he knows a lot about "old people stuffs", has poor eyesight and easily sprains his back if he tries to do excessive movements.
  • Keet: No matter how much the other guys throw at him, he'll always manage to pull through it with an upbeat attitude.
  • Knife Nut: He has a pretty impressive cache of swords, knives, and other pointy implements, as well as a collapsible police baton (err... "Joven baton"), some of which he carries with him in his trunk, and according to both himself and Ian, has actually learned how to use. He also used to take martial arts classes. He has shown that he knows the proper technique for using Sai, and has had at least one sword fighting class, shown during his time on King of the Nerds.
  • Legally Dead: When explaining the origins of his tattoos in a bonus video, he explains that the reason he has three gears tattoo'd over his heart because he once had a heart attack and was pronounced dead for several minutes.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Has the tendency to say and do perverted things, especially around Mari, to the point that the rest of the crew have to put up a Creepy Jar for him to put a dollar into when he takes things a little too far, but everyone are clearly still comfortable having him around.
  • Mighty Glacier: He isn't the most athletic member of the group which was shown when he was boxing with Lasercorn and Lasercorn had an advantage because he was more agile and able to land more hits on Joven. Jovenshire is able to take alot of punishment, able to hold Sohinki on his shoulders without much difficulty and finally he was able to do alot of damage to the car in Real Life Car Destruction.
  • Mistaken for Gay: How he earned the "Romance Achievement" in Dragon Age Origins, he accidentally accepted the gay option and slept with Zevran.
  • Never Say That Again: Flitz threatened to break Jovens legs after he said "baller" a third time
  • Nice Guy: He's far more encouraging and willing to give someone a second chance in comparison to his fellow gamers, as seen in stuff like Geometric Asteroids (Game Bang).
  • Nightmare Fetishist: He used to work as a paranormal investigator, and was really excited at the prospect of visiting a haunted ship during the "Real Life Ghost Ship (Game Bang)" episode.
  • The Nicknamer: Apparently, he was the one who gave Lasercorn his nickname, which the latter adopted as his screen name.
  • Not So Different: Due to Joven's Butt-Monkey status, many can sympathize with him whenever he's at the bottom losing and enduring the taunts of his friends... however, his fiery enthusiasm and willingness to jump into crazy actions shows that he actually has a lot in common with Lasercorn.
  • Pet the Dog: After so long of being the Butt-Monkey of Smosh Games, Ian and Anthony set Joven up to interview Emma Watson, his celebrity crush.
  • Ship Tease:
    • Though initially overshadowed by "Marhinki" and "Iancorn", "Jovanthony" is starting to rise in popularity due to them having lady-and-the-tramp'd in Killer Pandas eats us, and Anthony's offering to make out with Joven in Sack to the Face.
    • With Joe Bereta in the Dance Hot Tub Party, where the two did a program meant for a couple. They danced really well together, and their final scores had the closest margin to each other (only 50 points difference).
  • Shoot the Shaggy Dog:
    • Joven has shown himself to be a very good racer in Grand Theft Auto and has mainly been in first during races until the last lap where he crashes into the water or barrier due to poor eyesight causing the next person to drive past him to victory.
    • In Maricraft he spent two episodes trying to meet Mari, Flitz and Wes at the base and nearly dying in the process but when he accidentally hit Wes, Joven was instantly killed by his trained wolf causing him to spawn in the exact same place where he started his journey.
  • So Unfunny, It's Funny: His notoriously lame "Joven jokes" amuse the viewers, at least.
  • Spell My Name with a "The": Calls himself "The Jovenshire"
  • Stripperiffic: He dresses his GTA character as a stripper and the character wears the least amount of clothing in comparison to the other GTA characters.
  • Storyboard Body: Some of his numerous tattoos were inspired by moments in his past for example the gears represented the times where he allegedly died and came back to life in a hospital, another example would of been his star wars and batman tattoo which both represented his nerdy side for when he was growing up and as well as his current pastime.
  • Stronger Than They Look: "Old man Joven" gets backpain when he tries to do a simple yoga move, and is generally regarded by his peers as rickety and out of shape. Yet he is somehow able to have Sohinki stand on his shoulders with little repercussions. Jovenshire was able to do alot of damage to the car as well do considerable damage to door in an attempt to break it off in Real Life Car Destruction.
  • The Scapegoat: Jovenshire is often blamed for anything that goes wrong, prompting fans to write in on his behalf and object to all the bullying. Joven himself defends the group's actions by saying that they have a brotherly bond and that he can handle the abuse.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Strangely enough, its a video game that does this to him. After constantly getting a bronze during GTAV heists, JOVEN QUITS SMOSH GAMES finally has Joven getting a Platinum, especially after being constantly ribbed by the others throughout the video for getting bronze.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: In the Crazy Electric Shock Game Joven openly admitted electrocution was a big kink of his. Consequently, he was gleefully anticipating the shocks, while everyone else was dreading them.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Remember how Joven was always at the bottom, and never won Game Bangs? Two years later, he's managed to excel and beat down the other Game Bangers at the most unexpected games - Dorito Crash Course, Just Dance, Grease, Five Nights at Freddy's, Heads Up, Injustice: Gods Among Us, etc. He still loses, but everyone does, and he's also managed to stay out of the absolute bottom a good chunk of the time.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Given that most of the cast makes fun of him on occasion, it's like to know that he still has great relations with Lasercorn, Sohinki, Mari, and Wes. Doubles down for Mari, the only remaining current member of the original Smosh Games crew, who was even a groomsman in Joven's wedding.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: In recent GTA episodes, he dresses his character as a stripper and is constantly topless.
  • Who's Laughing Now?:
    • Joven finally breaks down in Grand Theft Smosh from all the mockery and abuse from the other members and attacks and kills any member he finds in Grand Theft Smosh but they still don't take him seriously and still mock him.
    • He has had some moments of glory, such as managing to win platinum in a Grand Theft Smosh heist alongside Lasercorn, Sohinki and Wes, who kept calling him "Bronze Player"
  • With Friends Like These...: In the beginning of the channel, he and Sohinki often knocked heads with each other, with Joven usually being the butt of the humor.
    • In recent episodes Jovens and Sohinki's relationship borders on Sitcom Arch-Nemesis because in one episode they created a bar together but in a previous episode Sohinki killed Jovens' ent while also using lava to trap Joven in the basement, in the same episode it ended with Joven and Sohinki fighting each other on an island.
  • Who Wears Short Shorts?: His GTA character is dressed as a male stripper by wearing a bow tie and shorts or possibly boxers (much to the discomfort of the other members).

    Boze (Erika Bozeman)
  • Black and Nerdy: Par for a course, being the host of a gaming Youtube channel
  • Embarrassing Tattoo: She has the word "Vicious" tattooed across the back of her neck. She doesn't want to be judged for it and says she got it when she was 18.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: Sometimes goes on adventures with Wes, who measures 6'3" in height.
  • Motor Mouth: Definitely. She has a fun tendency to ramble loudly on camera, whether she's aware of it or not.
  • Meganekko: She often wears glasses and in the episode "Sexy Hot Tub Truth or Dare" she is revealed to have a good figure while wearing a bikini.
  • Ms. Fanservice: In most thumbnails, Boze is either exposing her cleavage or wearing a swimsuit.
  • Put on a Bus: Left the Smosh brand in early 2019 to focus on her digital marketing career.
  • Two Girls to a Team: With her being added to the Smosh Games crew, she averts The Smurfette Principle.
  • Verbal Tic: "Yo dawg!"

Production Crew Guest

    Matt Raub
  • Team Dad: Not including the fact that he's the one that drives the game everywhere in Cell Outs, but he also is pretty much the one that coordinates everything on the channel (not surprising, considering he's their producer). Joven even refers to him as his spirit animal.

Seasonal Games Guest

    Keith Leak II
  • Butt-Monkey: In Smosh Summer Games: Camp he got picked on a lot by the others.
  • Token Minority: The only black person in the Smosh Squad.

    Olivia Sui
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She doesn't normally put up a huge fight, but she can actually get pretty competitive during the seasonal game events.
  • Everyone's Baby Sister: On the secondary and main channel the other Smosh members are protective of her and help her when her fears come to surface.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Though not to an extent as Courtney, she's pretty attractive in her own right.
  • Token Minority: The only Asian person in the Smosh Squad.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: She has hydrophobia which is the fear of water, she doesn't know how to swim and gets scared when she has to go into a pool or when she was on the Death Drop ride in a water park.

    Noah Grossman
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Out of the entire Smosh crew, he's the youngest at 19/20.
  • Badass Boast: Utters a pretty great one to Lasercorn and Flitz right before he sinks the final marshmallow in "Hot Cocca Pong" during the 2nd Smosh Winter Games
Noah: "What's funny is you guys are going to lose to the only person who legally can't drink here."

    Courtney Miller

    Shayne Topp
  • Large Ham: He shouts and announces things loudly most of the time.
  • Mr. Fanservice: He's often regarded as the best-looking, and the most well-built, member of the Smosh crew, and will not hesitate to show off his muscles, especially during the Summer Games.
  • The Rival: With Sohinki for a little while, especially in the 2nd Summer Games. They were forced to put aside their differences in the following Winter Games when they were placed on the same team.

    Joe (Joe Bereta)

    Sunny (Sunny Peabody)

How well does it match the trope?
