This is the character sheet for Shining Pretty Cure. The hypothetical casting by the author is just for fun.
Youko Akiyama (Cure Ruby) Voice Actor: Miki Nagasawa
Youko is one of two toku fangirl leads in the Precure fanseries collective, the situational difference being that Luminous Town seems far more amiable to nerdiness than Kazahana City ever was. Her favourite show, Auraranger, draws all sorts of strange parallels to her new life as Cure Ruby, which she tends to acknowledge here and there without ever really stopping to think about what it means for what will happen to her in the future. She starts out as Aina's good friend and gathers True Companions in the first quarter of the series with her belief in never giving up, no matter what. After all, AuraRed had to face betrayal, a mysterious transfer student, monsters every other day, and eventually, the man who killed his parents — anything less than living up to him is unacceptable.
- Ascended Fangirl: She was obsessed with henshin heroes, particularly Ultra Sentai, before becoming a Cure.
- Calling Your Attacks: Notably, she's the only member of the team to do this with anything outside of her Finishing Move.
- Catchphrase: "I'm not giving up that easily!"
- Crossdresser: She makes a habit of cosplaying the (always-male) Red Ranger from each installment of Ultra Sentai at least once every year, so ...
- Genre Savvy: As a result of her Ascended Fangirl status. It helps...most of the time.
- I Know Mortal Kombat/Taught by Television: Her love of video games and television has benefited her more than once.
- Law of Chromatic Superiority: Not really played straight in-story, but she cites wearing red as one of the reasons she's team leader.
- Plucky Girl: Her catchphrase says all! It also makes her the glue that holds the team together.
- Running Gag: A literal one — when dashing somewhere, she always avoids crashing into someone mid-run by "slamming on the brakes".
- Serious Business: Sometimes shows this inclination in regards to her favorite shows, especially when people get the details wrong.
Aina Kobayashi (Cure Peridot) Voice Actor: Yuki Matsuoka
Kobayashi Aina is a kind-hearted soul who just wants to make everyone happy, but she's no Love-knockoff, before you think that. For one thing, this girl likes to think she's very perceptive of other people's feelings, leading her to avidly pair up everyone in sight. When it comes to her own love life, though, she's a blushing, stuttering mess. Notable for her Kansai accent, her kindness to everyone around her, and her strong friendship with Youko even before the other team members show up, Aina is a sweet girl who, like AuraGreen, follows her friend out of dedication to protecting everyone's smiles.
- Berserk Button: Nobody ruins others' "special days" on her watch.
- Cannot Spit It Out: Her feelings for Soichi. She ends up going inarticulate every time she tries talking to or even about him.
- Feminine Women Can Cook: The girliest one on the team is the best chef. Go figure.
- For Happiness: This is her rationale for wanting to pair everyone up. A good romance = instant happiness, right?
- Girlish Pigtails: Twin braids in her case.
- Skewed Priorities: Sometimes, she ends up putting things like matchmaking over her Cure duties. At least she notices she's doing it.
- Theme Naming: Her parents also have plant-based names.
Miwa Shinju (Cure Pearl) Voice Actor: Rie Kugimiya
Miwa Shinju is the series' token Lonely Rich Kid, but more than anything, she's alone by choice. Thanks to guilt from her past, she denies so much as wanting friends even to herself, and it takes a long time and a lot of struggling before she integrates herself into the team. What Shinju really wants is an exciting life with interesting people. Like the bereaved and standoffish AuraPink, being Cure Pearl represents a dream Shinju never allowed herself to have, which she comes to terms with as the story goes on.
- Barrier Warrior: Her main attack doubles as a limited shield.
- Big Fancy House: Miwa Manor is the largest and fanciest house in town, of course.
- Curtains Match the Window: The only Cure to avert this.
- Eating Lunch Alone: Her first appearance saw her searching for a place to do this. Even after befriending the Cures, she prefers eating alone.
- Four-Temperament Ensemble: Melancholic.
- Lonely Rich Kid: A straight example, complete with self-imposed friendlessness.
- Magic Skirt: Has this in Cure form, unlike her teammates, who wear Modesty Shorts. The petticoats help.
- Parental Abandonment: Her mother left the family for unspecified reasons when she was younger, fueling her fears of getting attached to anyone else, while her father is usually overseas supervising his company.
- Parent with New Paramour: Her father fell in love with someone in his company at some point, though she doesn't formally discover it until he returns to Luminous Town. She does not take it well.
- Perpetual Frowner: At first. A lot of her artwork depicts her with this expression as well. But...
- Shorter Means Smarter: Very petite and established as doing well in school.
- Why Did It Have To Be Spiders?: They're the the one thing that can make her visibly freak out.
Akira Takamura (Cure Turquoise) Voice Actor: Ryōko Shintani
Takamura Akira is the laid-back upperclassman who attracts fans from all over the school, and she's easy to befriend. This makes her the perfect target for Amazora, who she ends up hanging out with almost as much as she does with the other Precures. At first, it seems like nothing bothers Akira. On the contrary, she holds guilt from her parents blaming her for an accident that her sister was involved in when they were kids, and now Akira puts others first to the point that it's developed into an unhealthy complex.
- Attack Reflector: She can do a limited one with her powers.
- Big Sister Instinct: One of the things that led to her protective complex.
- Blow You Away: With a major in Razor Wind.
- Cordon Bleugh Chef: Can make good curry, but everything else she tries her hand at is pretty much inedible...unless you're Sora.
- First-Name Basis: Prefers to be on this with almost everyone she meets.
- Four-Temperament Ensemble: Phlegmatic.
- Guilt Complex: At first. She's slowly getting better, although her first instinct is to assume all responsibility for anything that befalls her loved ones.
- Lipstick Lesbian: Low-key about this, although she doesn't hide it either. The only reason she didn't tell her teammates earlier is because they never asked.
- Lonely Guitar Piece: Plays them when depressed.
- Loves My Alter Ego: Inverted. Amazora/Sora has a crush on Akira, but despises her Cure alter-ego. Then again, Sora knows that they're the same person.
- Nice Girl: Her reputation throughout the school and her usual demeanor...which helps obscure her self-esteem issues.
- Onee-sama: The more affectionate type, somewhat for her teammates, but definitely for Sora.
- Parental Neglect: Her parents are both very busy with their jobs and hardly close to either of their daughters. The unfair standards they place on Akira's shoulders don't help.
- Rings of Death: Turquoise Chakrams
- Theme Naming: Her parents and sister have sky or flight-based names.
Sheeny Voice Actor: Shin-ichiro Miki (Japanese)
Sheeny, the first of the two mascots to appear and the more hard-nosed of the two, starts out very stubborn and set in his ways about how he's going to save his world. This seems to come from a sense of guilt about letting his home be destroyed and letting Lucey get lost. He eventually starts to lighten up when Lucey returns and Youko's "wishful thinking" starts being right more often than not.

Lucey Voice Actor: Yūko Gotō (Japanese)
Lucey is the second mascot to appear. She is sweet, lovable and all-forgiving, and not quite as strict as Sheeny, but no less serious about reaching their goal. Lucey just believes more strongly in the power of kindness to solve the problems that others would write off as a lost cause.
- Verbal Tic: "~lu"
Shade Queen Voice Actor: Yuko Minaguchi(Japanese)
The Shade Queen seeks the restoration of her homeland and her dead servants and subjects, though it isn't clear what happened or what the Star Pieces have to do with this goal. Either way, no matter how noble her cause, the fact remains that she has no qualm with hurting or destroying hundreds, thousands or even billions of people as long as she gets what she wants. At this stage, she is annoyed with the Shade Quartet for consistently losing to Precure, and is rapidly losing faith in their abilities.
- Glowing Eyes of Doom → Red Eyes, Take Warning: Briefly, whenever she's put out about something
Meran and Korii Voice Actor: Kaori Mizuhashi (Japanese)
The Shade Queen's personal assistants, Meran and Korii, even intimidate the Shade Quartet. They are twins, but don't even seem to have separate consciousnesses, speaking and acting as one. Their own powers have yet to be revealed, and they rarely say much of anything, but when they do, it's always to back up the Queen's demands.
- Creepy Half-Identical Twins
- Hive Mind: They even blink in unison.
- Theme Twin Naming: Together, their names form the romanization of "melancholy".
- Twin Banter: If they're not speaking in unison, they're using this.
- Tertiary Sexual Characteristics: Korii is differentiated from her brother by...her hair ribbons.
- Wonder Twin Powers: Considering they can't do anything separately, this is a given.
The Shade Quartet
Sora Kibami(Amazora) Voice Actor: Mika Kanai
Amazora, the first enemy to appear, is a girl the same age as the Cures. She's bouncy, whiny, simple, and all-around childish. She tries her best to gain the Shade Queen's approval and believes that winning will make her cold, lonely home world a happier place. She reluctantly attaches herself to Akira with the intent to use her, but she slowly begins Becoming the Mask...
- Dating Catwoman: With Akira, eventually
- Department of Redundancy Department: Occasionally, she occasionally talks like this, okay? Okay.
- Evil Diva: Well, sort of. She does entertain dreams of becoming an idol now and again, though.
- Four-Temperament Ensemble: Sanguine.
- The Glomp: Her preferred method of greeting Akira.
- Kawaiiko: Enough to qualify her for Bratty Half-Pint status despite being a teenager.
- Loves My Alter Ego: Akira cares about Sora but apparently dislikes Amazora. This bothers her more than she'd like to admit.
- Mad Libs Catch Phrase: "Super [adjective], super [adjective]!" Usually "Super cool, super awesome!", but it varies.
Haru Enshoku (Yakeru) Voice Actor: Chihiro Suzuki
Yakeru likes one thing: fighting. He especially likes winning, and prefers picking on the weak to going into a fair fight; otherwise, he might actually lose. He annoys everyone else on the Quirky Miniboss Squad, even (or especially) his girlfriend, Anya. He doesn't care, though, and keeps doing his own thing, mocking everyone else rather than changing.
- Catch Phrase Interruptus: He really, really does not have the ability to wait for the Cures to give their opening spiel, let alone introduce themselves.

Mizuki Noukon (Anya) Voice Actor: Rika Fukami
Anya is cold, cruel and merciless. She only ever shows affection to her sister, Amazora, and even then is quick to keep her in line whenever her childish mind wanders. Anya prefers to use her abilities to manipulate her enemies, break their spirits, and take everything she wants before laughing in their faces and turning on them. Even the people who love her fear her for it, but continue to believe that there is something good about her — and maybe there is.
- Barrier Warrior: Not as much as her counterpart, but she tends to play much more defensively in battle, complete with ice shields.
- Elemental Weapon: Fights with a whip made of ice crystals.
- Emotionless Girl: Usually, although she tends to fly off the handle when upset.
- Four Eyes, Zero Soul: As Mizuki, complete with the odd Scary Shiny Glasses moment.
- Glowing Eyes of Doom: In effect whenever she activates her powers.
- Harmless Freezing: Able to do a version of this, even when not transformed.
- Mad Libs Catchphrase: "Your [trait] shall be a tool in my hands."
- Magical Eye: One of her eyes is gold, like her sister's, but the other is purple and acts as the source of her powers.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Blue Oni to Yakeru's Red
- Telepathy: She can take it a step further and pull crystallized feelings out of a subject.
- Whip of Dominance: She's a cold, cruel, and domineering woman who wields a whip as her weapon of choice.
Frédéric Verdant (Suishoku) Voice Actor: Keiji Fujiwara
Suishoku is the least evil of the members of the Shade Quartet, and on many occasions expresses remorse for the things that he has to do in the name of the Queen. He believes in fair fights, respect, and keeping battles between knowing, consenting combatants rather than involving civilians. This makes him Yakeru's least favourite person, and Yakeru his. Suishoku quite enjoys the perks of the human world, such as music, the Sun Cafe, and the Haruhi Suzumiya light novels.
- Affably Evil: Yes, he really is that polite.
- Anti-Villain: Type IV, mostly. Were it not for his staunch devotion to the Queen and his concern for his teammates, he'd probably be with the heroes.
- But Not Too Foreign: Half French, half Japanese... or so he says.
- Curtains Match the Window: When transformed.
- The Dandy: In appearance and demeanor, though he lacks the aversion to fighting.
- The Dragon: Not this on his own, but has some of the personality traits associated with it.
- Dramatic High Perching: Usually announces his presence by balancing somewhere above the Cures and throwing a rose at their feet.
