    The Protagonist
The main playable character, who seems to have a mysterious destiny concerning the ruins near Holm.
  • Can't Drop the Hero: The protagonist generated by the player cannot be taken out of the party. This can make it hard to formulate a party at the beginning of the game, since many characters will have skill overlap with the protagonist, though their skills will diverge as they level up. This also means the protagonist will get the brunt of EXP, but their EXP requirements are higher in order to compensate.
  • Mystical White Hair: While the player can choose the protagonist's mugshot, they will always be albino. This is because they're descended from a clan of humanoid demons specifically bred to be Titus I's new vessel, all of whom are albino.
  • Protagonist Power-Up Privileges: The protagonist is the only character who can spend SP to level up titles, allowing them to min-max their stats and abilities. They are also the only character who can equip the MP cost-halving elemental gems and the Iterio Fragment, due to being chosen as Titus I's vessel.

    Paris
A friend of the protagonist who lives with several other orphans.
  • Big Brother Instinct: When his little sister Chuna fell to the strange disease that had been plaguing the children in town after the Nightseed attack, he's motivated to dive into the ruins to find a way to cure her. On the Rogue Route, this unfortunately also leads to him accepting "help" from Mr. Pingar, even participating in an assassination mission on Duke Kamur to further Prince Teor's plans. He nearly gets killed by Teor for his trouble if it weren't for West Siwa's timely invasion of Holm.
  • Duel Boss: On the rogue route, if the player refuses to participate in Pingar and Teor's planned assassination of Duke Kamur, they will fight Paris because the latter is desperate for help from Pingar and revenge against the Duke and the protagonist wants to prevent their friend from doing something they'll regret.
  • Lovable Rogue:
    • Paris (as well as the protagonist on the rogue route) are willing to take on illegal work, but they do so in order to provide for the children of the slums.
    • Deconstructed in the rogue route. Paris is willing to do dirty deeds to save Chuna and has a grudge against Duke Kamur for executing his mother (who is also a rogue). This makes him easy prey for Pingar, who manipulates him into attempting to assassinate Duke Kamur.
  • Weapon Specialization: While capable of equipping daggers and a variety of other weapons, many of his skills make use of whips.

    Nell
The unusually strong daughter of a local shopkeeper.
  • Jack of All Trades: Nell has physical attacks, offensive fire spells, and healing spells. She can also learn multiple forms of crafting from leveling up and doing Gallio's sidequest. However, her stats lean more towards being physically strong and slow.
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: Noted to have superhuman strength despite her delicate appearance.

    Laban
A one-armed swordsman who has seen his fair share of battles.
  • Artificial Limbs: Rather than shields, Laban can equip different prosthetic arms in the shield slot.
  • Master Swordsman: Laban is capable of learning most of the skills from the Swordmaster class. He's also an expert in Uryu's particular swordplay, allowing him to counter her moves easily if the player chooses to have him duel this boss.

    Syphon
An arrogant mage who seeks the Books of the Dead.
  • Always Someone Better: Has this sort of relationship to the Sage protagonist. Pronounced after failing to take the Book of Keys by force from the protagonist on the Sage Route, he expresses his frustration to the fact that Deneros entrusts the book to the protagonist, and not him, and he scrambles off deep into the ruins. Unfortunately, this ends with him being captured and possessed by Titus for the final segment of the game.
  • My Greatest Failure: If Syphon is taken to the blizzard event at the top of the Giant Tower, he'll apologize in his sleep. In town, a conversation between him and Deneros reveals that Syphon accidentally killed his friend in an experiment gone wrong. It's implied that Syphon wants to obtain the Book of the Dead to find some way to revive his friend.
  • Insufferable Genius: Quite knowledgeable on certain subjects, and even possesses the Gnosis skill, which allows him to decipher ancient texts. He's also a jerk who's quite full of himself.
  • The Rival: Fancies himself as one to the Sage protagonist, boasting that he will surpass them someday.
  • Tsundere: With a high enough relationship value with him in the good ending, he has some dialogue that suggests this. The player can select a dialogue option of "wanting to be with him," to which he responds with disgust... then replying that he'll stay in town for the time being, denying that he's doing so for the protagonist's sake, before turning his face away.

    Fran
The maid of Duke Kamur, who also has assassination skills.
  • Cain and Abel: With Gustar on the Rogue and Knight routes. In both routes he assassinates Duke Kamur under Prince Teor's orders, though in the latter route this won't happen if Kamur dies at Balsimus's hand instead. If the player brings Fran with them to the mansion infiltration mission, she will call Gustar out on his service to Teor, and even deals the finishing blow after the boss fight.
  • Lethal Chef: Despite being a maid, she's very likely to produce failure dishes when using the cooking skill.
  • Ninja Maid: Fran is a maid working for Duke Kamur, and also happens to be skilled in the village of Rendume's ninja arts. She ended up in this profession because her clan is allied with the town of Holm. Lampshaded in a bit of dialogue, where she expresses some confusion over being called such.
"People are always telling me I'm a ninja. It's ninja this, ninja that... what is a ninja?"

    Allson
An idealistic knight of the Kness Dukedom.
  • Broken Pedestal: Towards Teor, most prominently on the Rogue and Knight routes, where Teor is more directly confronted as an antagonist. Especially in the Knight route where he can either witness him blatantly killing his own allies with the Iron Cavalry, or sitting idly by waiting for them to die to the enemy instead.
  • Magically Inept Fighter: Has no magical abilities to speak of. His main strengths are his... well, physical strength and resilience.
  • Supreme Chef: He and Kileha have the highest chances of making a proper dish when using the cooking skill.
  • Team Mom: Jokingly suggested to be such by the other party members as he's patching Theresia's torn wrap, and intending to make pudding for Laban afterwards.

    Theresia
A priestess with a thirst for knowledge.
  • Brutal Honesty: In a conversation with Allson, Theresia tells him that his idealistic platitudes about joining forces for justice lack substance, and that he's mainly saying these lines because they sound cool. This rings true in that he's naïve about the political situation of Kness Dukedom, where not all factions want to explore the ruins for altruistic reasons and some like Teor are willing to betray others for the sake of their ambitions.

    Melodarke
A stoic mercenary who doesn't like to get close to people.
  • Combat Medic: While he's capable of using heavy weapons and has an array of offensive skills to use, he's also capable of using a few support skills (though this will require a weapon that will enable him to use magic).
  • Church Militant: Revealed to be a member of the Temple Guard on the Priest route, when he confronts the protagonist over the circumstances of their birth, and attempts to accost them to prevent the resurrection of Titus I. Suddenly his skillset makes a lot more sense.
  • The Kingslayer: This is revealed on the Priest route, in Oblivion. In his past, after returning from his mission to slay the "snarks," who turned out to be unarmed women and children, he voices his objections to the King who ordered him to do so. When the King orders his guards to accost him for it, Melodarke kills him.
  • Lethal Chef: He's very likely to produce failure dishes when using the cooking skill.
  • The Mole: Revealed to be one for the temple guard on the Priest and Knight routes.
  • Shirtless Scene: One of the few characters to have an alternate portrait. In this case, speaking to him in the Dwarven Tower or taking a bath (also in the Dwarven tower, not the ancient city) will have him taking off his shirt.
  • Taking You with Me: He attempts this on the Priest route against the protagonist after failing to capture them by tackling them into the river.
  • Windmill Crusader: On the Priest route, it's revealed through the events of Oblivion that in the past, he once massacred a group of innocent people, believing them to be some sort of monsters known as Snarks, and that doing so would save his hometown. He experiences a My God, What Have I Done? moment shortly after realizing what's transpired.

    Kileha
A nomad from the southeastern wilderness of Mardilia.

  • Supreme Chef: She and Allson have the highest chances of making a proper dish when using the cooking skill.

    Enda
A girl who hatched from a dragon egg in the Dragon Tower. Despite looking and acting like a child, she's capable of using draconic power.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Enda has high attack, magic, and defense growth, but her equipment options are more limited, especially when it comes to weapons. She can only equip dragon gems and can only obtain new ones by defeating the optional dragon bosses. This is downplayed when she gets her final dragon gem, which is well-balanced in terms of stats. However, her limited armor options still make it difficult to build her resistances.
  • Reincarnation: Enda is the reincarnation of the Dragon King, whose corpse is in the bottom of Dragon Tower due to being killed by Demon Lord Kulum. Her status as the Dragon King makes it so that the protagonist is required to defeat or recruit her in order to earn the right to wield Fia's Lazurite.
