     The Bus Driver

Voiced by: Norihiro Inoue (JP), Chuck Huber (EN)

The bus driver for Yokai Academy. He takes a particular interest in Tsukune and there is likely more to him than being a simple bus driver.

  • Almighty Janitor: Implied to be one of the more powerful or influential characters in the series. Confirmed in the epilogue chapter, where it's revealed that he trained the Headmaster and is strongly implied to be the "Supreme Commander of All Monsters".
  • Badass Driver: If you need somebody who can get you anywhere in the world while doing so in style, this is the guy you're looking for.
  • Captain Ersatz: Let's see... drives people around as a profession, hands out advice on the path on should take in life to the hero... implied to be a mega powerful badass... we will most likely never know what all of his face really looks like... Caine, is that you?!
  • Cigar Chomper: Has a cigar in every scene he's in.
  • Cool Car: His bus can travel anywhere in both the human and monster worlds, and is ungodly fast.
  • Cool Old Guy: You wish your bus driver was as awesome as this one.
  • Creepy Monotone: In both Japanese and English, he's given a flat monotone that adds to both how mysterious he is and his coolness.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": His real name hasn't been mentioned until the final chapter. It's Nurari.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: His eyes are constantly glowing a bright, all-encompassing yellow, which is accentuated by the constant shadow covering all of the upper half of his face besides them.
  • Meaningful Name: His name Nurari is a reference to "Nurarihyon", a mystical creature that is said to be the "Supreme Commander of All Monsters".
  • The Mentor: Hands off a few kernels of wisdom to Tsukune in the anime especially, which Tsukune takes rather seriously.
  • Mr. Exposition: Always knows what the background of the situation is.
  • Really 700 Years Old: The final chapter reveals that he raised Mikogami to become the headmaster.
  • Ship Tease: With Shizuka Nekonome. Of note is their interaction during the monster durian trial, early in the Season II manga.
  • Shout-Out: He can ride a giant frog.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Is able to sneak up on everyone, no matter how good their senses are, or what the situation is.
  • The Watcher: Never joins battles personally, just gives advice and drives the heroes around.

     Shizuka Nekonome

Voiced by: Kikuko Inoue (JP), Jamie Marchi (EN)

Tsukune and co.'s homeroom teacher and the advisor for the Newspaper Club. She is a cat girl and loves fish.

  • Berserk Button: Do not make fun of her for forgetting to hide her tail. And don't ask how old she is.
  • Cat Girl: She is a nekomimi with cat ears and a tail.
  • Cool Teacher: Well liked by her students because of her friendly cheerful personality.
  • Eyes Always Shut: The only time we really see her eyes open is when she's under the influence of Lilith's Mirror.
  • Femme Fatalons: She'll claw up anybody who pushes her Berserk Button—and she'll do it while still maintaining her usual cheery-looking face (though the way her eyes are closed when it happens it scares shitless those watching nonetheless).
  • Furry Reminder: Often meows like a cat, and has a taste for raw fish.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She has dirty-blonde hair and is very sweet-natured.
  • Harem Nanny: She’s usually the one who chaperones Tsukune and his haremettes.
  • Hot Teacher: Chapter 24 page 3 is pretty blatant about it, showing her wearing a form-fitting top with no bra over her rather ample chest.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Admonishes students about keeping their monster forms and identities secret while on-campus, but constantly has her tail appearing.
  • Meaningful Name: Translated into English, it means "Cat's Eye".
  • Misplaced Kindergarten Teacher: While she's the only teacher present who seems to genuinely care about her students, she also tends to take a hands-off approach whenever any of her students are acting out, having neglected to do anything about Mizore cutting classes, allows the Public Safety Committee to take Tsukune away in the middle of class and avoids Kokoa's violent outbursts. In Kokoa's case, Nekonome eventually gets around to disciplining her when Kokoa's violent vendetta against Moka becomes an ongoing problem (and because she is incredibly loud and thus really hard to ignore).
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Aside from the Chairman, she's one of the few teachers who isn't a Jerkass or horribly deranged and is actually helpful and non-prejudicial to her students. When Kuyou has Tsukune scheduled for execution and the Chairman forbids her from intervening, Ms. Nekonome objects and points out that Yokai Academy is supposed to support human/monster co-existence.
  • Running Gag / Shout-Out: In response to her voice actress, Kikuko Inoue (who is absolutely 17), she says she too is 17 when asked about her age. But you really shouldn't ask her if you don't want bloody scratches all over your face.
  • Sensei-chan: Being a teacher does nothing to impede her cuteness. Or hotness.
  • Ship Tease: With the Bus Driver.
  • Those Two Girls: Occasionally has this dynamic with Ririko in the Season 2 anime.
  • Token Good Teammate: She's the only member of the school staff who doesn't have a mean or villainous bone in her body, with even the Chairman willing to do questionable things for the greater good. In fact, outside of her habit of clawing people's faces when they point out her hypocritical habit of exposing her monster form despite advising against it, she's the nicest, most reasonable, and most genuinely good-intentioned adult in the series.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Goldfish.
  • Vapor Wear: She’s shown not wearing a bra in one chapter, and an end-of-volume 4Koma confirms this is the norm for her.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: When the Chairman refuses to allow her to intervene against Kuyou when Tsukune is at his mercy, she makes no secret of how shocked she is that he isn't doing jack squat about it despite the school's mission in support of human/monster co-existence.

     Hitomi Ishigami
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Hitomi_Ishigami_9814.jpg

An art teacher. She is a Medusa who finds beauty in destruction and turned several students into living statues for her collection.

  • Adapted Out: In the manga, she personally tipped off Kuyou to Tsukune's nature as a human, and also caused the whole incident with Lilith's Mirror. Since she doesn't appear in the anime, the events are altered so that Kuyou discovers Tsukune's nature on his own, and Kokoa gets a hold of Lilith's Mirror herself.
  • Braids of Action: Literally! Actually, they're primarily braids of artsiness, but they do a pretty good job of making her look combat-ready as well.
  • Bus Crash: It's implied in volume 5 of the second serialization that she was executed for her ultimate act of treachery against Yokai Academy (as it's illegal for a monster to kill a human on pain of death, and considering that there was not one, but two humans at the school, one who wasn't even enrolled, whose lives were endangered by her actions during the school festival at the end of the first serialization...).
  • Gorgeous Gorgon: She's a gorgon, and besides her snake hair, her true form still has the appearance of a decently attractive woman.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: In her first appearance, she is knocked out when Moka kicks her with a turned-to-stone leg.
  • Hot Teacher: While she's not on Ririko's level, she's still got quite the body going for her, even in her true form.
  • Mad Artist: Her original MO was to turn people to stone for her collection. Now, she considers death, destruction, and chaos to be the ultimate forms of art, and does her best to create it.
  • Medusa: She's a Medusa monster, looking like a woman with snake hair and having the power to turn people into stone like the mythological Medusa, though in her case it's the bite of her snakes that cause petrification instead of her eyes.
  • Prehensile Hair: Her hair can extend indefinitely and turn into snakes.
  • Sadist Teacher: She turned her students to stone in a twisted form of art.
  • Scars Are Forever: She gets a scar on her forehead after her first defeat.
  • Snakes Are Sexy: She's a gorgon, a monster with hair made out of snakes, yet she's got a decently sexy body.
  • Taken for Granite: The venom from the snakes in her hair turns people to stone. Worst of all, her victims are still conscious and can cry.

     Ririko Kagome

Voiced by: Aya Hisakawa (JP), Shelley Calene-Black (EN)

A math teacher. She is a Lamia who uses her abilities to transfer knowledge directly into her students’ heads, turning them into her servants in the process.

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: She has light-colored hair in the manga and dark brown hair in the anime.
  • Brains and Bondage: She acts like a dominatrix to the students she is tutoring.
  • Dressed Like a Dominatrix: When Tsukune arrives for extra lessons, she's wearing skimpy leather clothes and tells him that students are teachers' slaves.
  • Emotion Eater: Downloads info directly into her student's brains, but drains away their feelings and leaves them cold and heartless.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: She's one of the nicer teachers at Youkai Academy (which says something about how bad a bunch of the other teachers are), as she flat-out tells Moka and Tsukune in chapter 19 of the first serialization. She even denounces Kotsubo's tactics and warns Moka and Tsukune not to fuck with him out of concern for their well-being.
  • Geeky Turn-On: She gives off the impression, in both the manga and anime, of being Hot for Student over Tsukune and other male students, though she's ultimately revealed to be far more interested in milking her male students' brainpower for all it's worth out of some obsessive desire to make them smarter.
  • Harmless Villain: Unlike most of the other villains, she has no interest in physically harming anyone. She also thinks of her actions as being beneficial to her victims.
  • Hot Teacher: A sexy, glasses-wearing woman who usually wears a white v-neck shirt with a wide collar that reveals some of her cleavage and a dark skirt. However, when she's tutoring somebody, she adopts a Dominatrix look.
  • Lascivious Beauty Mark: She has a beauty mark on her chin, to further her status as a sultry Hot Teacher who acts domineering and seductive to students who take her fancy.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: She doesn't reach the level of Token Good Teammate like Nekonome-sensei, but unlike all the other antagonistic adults in the series, especially the teachers, she doesn't do anything genuinely harmful to her students, has actual standards, and maintains a genuinely well-meaning and helpful goal. It's just that her methods for achieving that goal aren't exactly ethically sound.
  • Mad Mathematician: She is a math teacher and takes education way too far, turning students into her servants in order to teach them.
  • Of Corsets Sexy: When in her dominatrix getup, she wears a corset, which combined with the leather does well to accentuate her voluptuous body.
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: Does this with syllables sometimes.
  • Snake People: Her true form is a "Lamia", a woman with a snake's lower body, with the tail ending in a weird toothy mouth that can latch onto people in order to influence their minds.
  • Snakes Are Sexy: As a lamia, her true form has a human upper half and snake lower half. Despite the sheer monstrosity of her true form, she's still just as beautiful and sexy as in her human form, especially since she only takes her true form while in her dominatrix-style outfit.
  • Stern Teacher: According to Kurumu, Ms. Ririko's really passionate about teaching but has a one-track mind. This causes her to "go overboard with everything" which may explain her after-school tutoring sessions.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: She isn't inherently evil, but rather very passionate about the education of the academy's students, as well as the status between teachers and students
  • Whip of Dominance: She is a sexy lamia who's a Stern Teacher with heavy Dominatrix motif. And to complement that motif, she's often Dressed Like a Dominatrix and literally whips her students to give them "motivation". She can also do this with her lamia tail when she's in her real form.

A P.E. teacher. Mizore confessed to him in the past but when he tried to force himself on her she froze him in self-defense, leading to her ostracisation. He is a Kraken.

  • Attempted Rape: Tried this on Mizore twice.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: For most of the initial time we see him, he seems like a stern yet reasonable teacher looking out for his students against the "dangerous" Mizore. Then it's revealed he's actually a complete bastard that has been tormenting and molesting Mizore for years, with him blackmailing her in order to keep her under his control.
  • Combat Tentacles: As a Kraken, he's capable of manipulating his many tentacles in order to grab, throw, and smack others.
  • Jerkass: He exploited Mizore's feelings for him and nearly raped her twice, then later manipulated events to nearly get her expelled.
  • Tentacled Terror: His true form is the Kraken.
  • The Unfought: In the anime, where he's defeated offscreen by a berserk Mizore.

     Tenmei Mikogami (The Chairman/The Exorcist)

Voiced by: Masaharu Satou (JP), Paul Slavens (EN)

The headmaster of the school. He is one of the 3 Demon Lords and has Tsukune undergo training once Fairy Tale appears.

  • Adults Are Useless: Comes across as such at times. He is the principal of a school that promotes human/monster co-existence, and yet, among other things, he allows a Swimming Club full of mermaids to suck the life out of any males they persuade to join, as well as Kuyou (who happens to be an anti-human extremist and a terrorist) and the corrupt Student Police to abuse their authority and make the other students' lives miserable, leaving Tsukune and his friends to sort such things out. In fact, when Kuyou had Tsukune scheduled for public execution because he was human, Mikogami explicitly said he wasn't going to stop it and forbade Ms. Nekonome from doing anything to intervene, something she rightfully calls him out on.
  • Barbarian Longhair: Under his hood, he has hair growing past his shoulders and has a very violent nature because he's a Kishin.
  • Barrier Warrior: He is very skilled in the use of barriers, having learned Black Arts from Touhou Fuhai.
  • Bash Brothers: He and Touhou Fuhai.
  • Batman Gambit: According to Alucard, he'd intentionally dropped that letter of acceptance so that Tsukune could find it. He'd planned for Tsukune to become part yokai and require the Holy Lock, which did not actually seal his Ghoul Tendencies, but instead augmented the spread of Moka's blood within him until he became a much more powerful and stable type of Yokai. He confirms this and asks for Tsukune's forgiveness, which he gets.
  • Battle Strip: When it's his time to participate in the final battle, he takes off his hood and the top of his robe.
  • The Berserker: When he cuts loose, he's a fountain of unstoppable fury. It's a good thing he's a good guy.
  • Benevolent Monsters: As a Kishin, he enjoys using violence, yet he is the principal of a school that promotes peace between monsters and humans, treats Tsukune's ghoul tendencies, and only uses his powers when an entire city is in danger.
  • The Chessmaster: Mikogami is a rather manipulative fellow for the good guys. He's been clandestinely aiding Tsukune's growth and might even have set things up to have Tsukune and friends deal with Kuyo and his military police.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": The students mainly refer to him as "The Chairman". However, his name is seen in the manga.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: His eyes look like they're glowing under the shadow of his hood. He is a good guy, though.
  • Happily Adopted: The epilogue reveals that he was adopted and raised by the Bus Driver, explaining why they always seemed so friendly with each other and possibly explaining why Mikogami's human form looked so much like the Bus Driver.
  • Horned Humanoid: When he finally takes off his hood, he's revealed to have long horns on his head due to being a Kishin.
  • I Am Not Left-Handed: Everyone thought he was the Mage of the Fighter, Mage, Thief trio of Dark Lords, due to him primarily using magic and wearing robes for most of the manga. Turns out he is the fighter being a Kishin, a Demon God, the most powerful kind of Oni there is.
  • Immortality: Impaled through the heart and left for dead, yet shows no apparent damage after he gets up.
  • In the Hood: He likes wearing a hood over his head.
  • It Amused Me: He has few mild impulses of allowing situations that endanger his students all for the sake of entertaining himself.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He performs it alongside with Touhou and Akasha to destroy Alucard for good.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Surprisingly enough, turns out he is rather handsome and ripped under that robe seeing as it turns out he isn't the magician of the Dark Lords, but the Berserker, a Kishin, a Demon God.
  • One-Winged Angel: Like most monsters, he has a powerful true form. A muscled, horned Kishin in his case.
  • Oni: He's a Kishin, the most powerful type of Oni.
  • Power Limiter: Wears one under his robes. Or rather, several of them.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: The Chairman is one of the three Dark Lords, who took down Alucard 200 years ago. He's also a Kishin- a demon god. His one punch managed to deliver a huge damage to Alucard who was in his 'true' fighting form, and that was while he was still sealed.
  • Really 700 Years Old: He's over 200 years old and doesn't look older than 30.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Despite his rather...reserved attitude towards the insanity in his school on a day to day basis, Mikogami really supports Tsukune and friends, is a very fair individual (though not above bending the rules if it's harmless amusement) and is a true advocate for peace between monsters and humanity. And he used magic to keep human deaths to a minimum when Fairy Tale's HQ fell onto a human city.
  • Stealth Mentor: He always intended for Tsukune to take become his successor as the headmaster of Yokai Academy and designed the Holy Lock so that it would adapt his body to the vampire blood in him and eventually turn him into one.
  • Super-Strength: Enough to send a Kaiju flying with one punch.
  • Take Up My Sword: After his death, according to Bus Driver, he chose Tsukune to be his successor.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Touhou Fuhai.

An artifact spirit that resides in a mirror that can reveal a monster's true form. After wrecking havoc during the school festival she starts working under Mikogami.

  • Adaptational Modesty: While her overall outfit is the same between the manga and anime, the anime changes her dress from being see-through to an opaque light purple, being a lot more subtle about her Going Commando status.
  • Artifact of Doom: Her Magic Mirror, because of the potential for it to break The Masquerade.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She spends most of her initial appearance pretending to be a Benevolent Genie that will grant her master's wish, but it's eventually revealed that she's a Jackass Genie intent on tormenting her master before taking their soul when the wish is fulfilled.
  • Fairy Companion: To the Chairman after her Heel–Face Turn.
  • Fairy Sexy: She's just as cute and attractive as the rest of the monster girls, with the only difference being the fact she's small enough to fit in somebody's palm, which is amplified by the fact that short see-through dress she's wearing is the only article of clothing she wears.
  • Flowers of Femininity: She's a small, cute fairy-like spirit and wears a flower on the left side of her hair.
  • Going Commando: She wears a short see-through dress and nothing else.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Eventually becomes a servant of The Chairman.
  • Jackass Genie: She grants a wish to a master of the mirror, with the intent of terrorizing said master and then taking their soul.
  • Loss of Inhibitions: Her mirror takes away the inhibitions of any monster who looks into it, reverting to their true form and unleashing their hidden desires.
  • Magic Mirror: Any monster that looks into it loses all his or her inhibitions and involuntarily goes back to his or her true form.
  • Magical Barefooter: She's a spirit who looks like a barefoot fairy.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: She has the regular appearance of usual fairies, but she's actually a spirit inhabiting the mirror she carries around.
  • Vapor Wear: Her see-through dress makes it quite obvious that she has nothing else underneath.
  • Winged Humanoid: As usual for a fairy, she has the appearance of a small humanoid with insect-like wings, in her case those of a dragonfly.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: What she does to her clients after finishing granting their wishes.

A member of Anti-Thesis who poses as a nurse at Yokai Academy’s hospital. She can take control of people by injecting fluid into them via her finger and used this ability to try and kill Tsukune.

  • Adaptational Villainy: In the manga, she's briefly shown fighting Alucard clones alongside Midou, implying she did make some kind of Heel–Face Turn. In the anime, she's a one-off villain who gets no such implied redemption.
  • Ax-Crazy: Regardless of which medium you go with, she is definitely not a mentally stable person in the slightest.
  • Combat Tentacles: Her extending fingers.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: When she puppeteers Moka into attacking Tsukune, her reactions to Tsukune's shock and the dripping liquid from her syringe-like fingertip take on a whole new meaning when one considers that she apparently injects an unspecified "bodily fluid" of her own into her victims...
  • Hospital Hottie: She's an attractive woman acting as the nurse of the school. Though she turns out to be a fake one in the manga, since she's not really a nurse.
  • In Name Only: Despite being the only other Anti-Thesis character besides Saizo to have appeared in the anime, her anime version is totally different from her manga character, except for looks and the above ability, and is a one-off villain who gets defeated off screen.
  • People Puppets: Via a fluid she injects into her victim's neck.
  • Squishy Wizard: She's defenseless once you get past the people she's controlling.
