Date of Birth: August 29
Age: 31
Team: Attackers
Squad: Wolfguard

The GIGN CBRN specialist and a Catholic whose life was riddled with regrets, Lion calls down brief scans from his EE-ONE-D aerial drone hovering over the map, pinging the locations of enemies that dare to move.

For tropes applicable to his counterpart in Rainbow Six Extraction, see Rainbow Six Extraction REACT.
  • Action Dad: Downplayed. He has a strained relationship with his son, as by the time they met, his ex-girlfriend was about to marry and his son had gotten used to calling that man his father. He still does his best to remain a part of his son's life.
  • The Atoner: It has been speculated that his rediscovery of his Catholic faith was a means of seeking forgiveness for his rowdy earlier years. In particular, he strives to do his best by his son, whom he nearly pressured his ex-girlfriend to have aborted. His bio paints him as someone who's desperately trying to reform himself, despite his sometimes questionable methods.
  • Anti-Hero: Up until the release of Kali, Lion was possibly the most morally-gray out of the entire Rainbow lot. While he does have a sense of righteousness, his is a lot more pragmatic and cynical than that of his fellow operators, where he still achieves to do good, but would also be willing to risk innocent lives as long as the end justifies the means. This makes him The Friend Nobody Likes, particularly among his fellow GIGN operators.
  • Artistic License – Military: Lion's V308 is a fictional version of the Kriss Vector chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO. There is some basis in reality, as there had been talks of adapting the Super V system to accommodate rifle rounds. However, nothing came of it, and like the plans for most Vector derivatives, the idea seems to have been shelved entirely. Much like Finka's Spear .308, it's possible that the concept managed to gain enough traction in the Rainbow Six universe to result in a functioning weapon.
  • Black Sheep: He was this to his family, who eventually kicked him out of their home when they found out that he got his then-girlfriend Claire pregnant, being the last straw of a string of bad behavior. While they eventually reconciled, they aren’t exactly comfortable with the idea that he's a soldier.
  • Former Teen Rebel: He used to be a smart yet arrogant youth. Eventually, circumstances forced him to grow up, enlisting in the military out of desperation. However, even after this phase, Lion often finds himself rubbing other people the wrong way, even after he joined Rainbow.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Lion's psychological evaluation describes him as having a cynical, overly pragmatic worldview, which often comes across as him being callous and cruel, made infinitely worse by his poor social skills and arrogance. This puts him at odds with most of Rainbow as well as his fellow GIGN operators, who tend to be an idealistic and altruistic bunch, though he maintains an Odd Friendship with Montagne, the all-loving and gentle Team Dad.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Making the most of the scans requires Lion to coordinate with his team to do something that forces the defenders to move, such as getting the plant down, using a Fuze charge, or calling with Dokkaebi. Without pressure, the defenders simply stand still and wait for a few seconds while giving Lion no intel.
  • Disappeared Dad: When Lion found out that his girlfriend Claire was pregnant with his son, he initially urged her to have him aborted, which she didn't go through with. This caused a massive rift between them, and the boy, Alexis, grew up not knowing who his biological father was, as it took Lion several years to work up the courage to meet his son. To his dismay, Alexis still isn't aware of his parentage and doesn't yet regard Lion as his father, with him considering Claire's new husband as such instead.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: If you look closely when Lion activates the EE-One-D, you will be able to spot the coordinates of the city of Montreal (45°30'N, 73°35'W) on his wrist-mounted display.
  • Interface Screw: The Lion scan used to have a distracting noise and caused everyone's screens to wobble. This was thankfully reduced.
  • Lantern Jaw of Justice: Best seen with the Leon S. Kennedy skin equipped, as his face is obscured by his hazmat headgear otherwise.
  • Meaningful Name: He got the nickname "Lion" when he once warded off a mob of people by shouting at them. It also comes in with his gadget, as according to Ubisoft, when a lion roars, its prey (ideally) stay still. Doubles as a Bilingual Bonus and Punny Name considering his Leon S. Kennedy promotional skin, as Leon is a male given name meaning "lion".
  • Noodle Incident: Whatever happened between him and Thatcher was so bad it nearly created a rift between the SAS and GIGN Operators. And then there's the 2015 Ebola outbreak in Nigeria, where Lion's handling of the situation was noted to be rather disastrous even though the reader isn't told what he ultimately did, which caused several deaths among Doc's medical team in addition to the locals, and further soured his relationship with his fellow GIGN operators.
  • Religious Bruiser: Has a close relationship with the chaplain of his former regiment, who convinced his ex-girlfriend that he had changed, allowing him to meet with his son, and helped him through a depression that nearly got him demoted. His return to the Church also helped him reconcile with his family, and he spends much of his free time volunteering at church.
  • Roundhouse Kick: He spent about 90% of the trailer showcasing his Leon S. Kennedy Elite set doing this, as a nod to the character's Signature Move that was coined in Resident Evil 4.
  • Shoot the Dog: Lion does not hesitate to put civilians and allies in danger if it eventually leads to the mission's success. Doc, in particular, hates him for getting one of his colleagues killed this way, and many in Rainbow don't have high opinions of him either.
  • Shout-Out: His Elite Skin, "Leon S. Kennedy", has him dress up as the titular character as he appeared in Resident Evil 4.

Date of Birth: June 7
Age: 26
Team: Attackers
Squad: Nighthaven

The Spetsnaz CBRN specialist and highly determined microbiologist searching for a cure for her degenerative CMT disease, Finka's Adrenal Surge temporarily buffs herself and her team where it provides instant health, remote revival, improves weapon handling, removes and resists visual and audio debuffs, and faster traversal through barbed wire with the click of a button.

Like the other members of team Kali, Finka was inducted into NIGHTHAVEN after the final match of the 2022 SIX Invitational, however she soon returned to her post at Rainbow instead of remaining with the organization.

For tropes applicable to her counterpart in Rainbow Six Extraction, see Rainbow Six Extraction REACT.
  • Artistic License – Medicine: She's guilty of this like Doc. Giving an adrenaline surge to someone who's bleeding out without sealing the wound(s) would cause them to bleed out faster instead of getting them back on their feet due to the heart's accelerated blood circulation.
  • Artistic License – Military:
    • There is a fair amount of this in Finka's backstory:
      • For starters, it's stated that she joined the Russian Army with the aim of becoming a Red Beret. The thing is, the Spetsnaz stopped wearing red berets when the Soviet Union fell, and the only unit in Russia that wears red berets anymore is the National Guard of Russia, who are a gendarmerie and are separate from the Russian Armed Forces, being formed from the consolidation of the various internal military forces of the Russian Government that weren't part of the military.
      • She joined the Russian Army with the aim of joining the Federal Security Service Spetsnaz and becoming a CBRN specialist in the unit. Thing is, the FSB Spetsnaz are not responsible for CBRN defence. Russia's CBRN specialists are the Russian NBC Protection Troops, a collection of special forces unitsnote  that are part of the Russian Ground Forces, not the FSB, and they take care of CBRN incidents in both war and peace, being equally responsible for dealing with chemical weapons attacks and civilian industrial accidents that result in radioactive, chemical, or biological hazards.
    • Her Spear .308 is based on the Saritch, a conceptual weapon that was designed by a Russian college student for his graduation project. Only non-functional mockups of it exist, as it never even entered prototyping phase due to the lack of interest from arms companies, much less being made into a real weapon platform. The in-game model is the compact DMR variant that would have been made for the military, albeit with some minor modifications, so it could be handwaved that the concept was picked up by an arms manufacturer in the game's universe and retooled into a more practical version. Even so, it's still referred to as a prototype.
  • Auto-Revive: Similar to Doc, she can use a nano-boost to pick herself back up if she is downed as of High Calibre, though it won't work if she was put into DBNO by a Welcome Mat.
  • Genius Bruiser: Finka is a skilled Spetsnaz operator with a doctorate in Microbiology and Immunology. In fact, she started out as a researcher in a university before she was invited to join the Russian military. Her Elite Skin hammers this point home even further, as she goes into the field wearing a lab coat and a prototype military-grade exoskeleton.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: She has a large diagonal scar that reaches from her left brow to her right cheek. She got it during a training accident from an intense CQB knife flurry with her mentor, Kapkan, in which she paid him back by breaking his nose and a few ribs before passing out from the pain.
  • Helmets Are Hardly Heroic: A variation; while both CBRN operators wear gas masks that prohibit the use of conventional helmets, Finka goes one step further by not wearing a head cover underneath her mask too, exposing her face and her full red hair.
  • Heroic RRoD: Finka has difficulty distinguishing her disease from simple fatigue. Sometimes, she can push herself so far that she ends up throwing up afterwards.
  • Interface Screw: The heartbeat pounding in her teammates' ears when boosted can mask soft sounds that they were trying to keep an ear out for if they weren't part of the push.
  • Living on Borrowed Time: At least in her mindnote . Slowly but surely, her disease is worsening despite her best efforts to treat it. She keeps it at bay by continuously modifying her treatments, all the while searching desperately for a more permanent solution - she was eventually convinced to join NIGHTHAVEN thanks to their state-of-the-art medical technology.
  • Logical Weakness: Being under the effects of Finka's Adrenal Surge will cause Attackers to take double damage from Smoke's Z8 compound, due to the boost greatly accelerating their respiration and making them inhale in more of the gas. The boosted heart rate will also cause Attackers under its effects to show up on Pulse's sensor from a further distance than usual.
  • May–December Romance: She flirts with Tachanka, who is a bit over 21 years older than her, and old enough to have been serving in the Soviet army when she was born.
  • Meaningful Name: The training accident mentioned above is the reason why she's called "Finka", which means "knife" in Russian.note
  • Nanomachines: Her nanobots are effectively command-activated team-wide adrenaline shots.
  • Super Mode: Her Adrenal Surge bestows this onto herself and her allies for 10 seconds, during which time they gain significantly improved weapon handling (reload and ADS time) and 20 health including overheal. Buffed allies can also No-Sell the slow down effects of barbed wire and Melusi's Banshees, clear the effects of flash and concussion grenades, and teammates in DBNO will be instantly revived to 30 health, though the ones downed by Frost's Welcome Mats or being interrogated by Caveira remain incapacitated.
  • The Tease: Downplayed, but she apparently openly flirts with Tachanka.
  • Token Minority: A distinction Finka shares with Fuze. In her case, she was born in Belarus, although the Uzbek Fuze has the distinction of not even being Slavic or European.

Voiced By: Phil Luzi (EN); Takahiro Fujiwara (JP)
Date of Birth: April 13
Age: 45
Team: Defenders
Squad: Viperstrike

An adventurous, restless individual with a highly-varied military career, including being a veteran of the Explorer Paratrooper regiment "Tuscania", Maestro deploys Compact Laser Emplacements (CLE-V) or "Evil Eyes", bulletproof turret cameras armed with lasers that he could remotely zap opponents and their gadgets in rapid succession by opening its protective shutter.
  • Attack Its Weakpoint: Evil Eyes have a bulletproof window that opens when the laser gun fires, giving targets a brief opportunity to destroy them with bullets. Only explosives, Maverick's torch and Sledge's hammer can break them outright, while Thatcher's EMP can disable them and force open the window. Maestro can mitigate the weakness of the shutter by quickly orienting the Evil Eye to where the Attackers can't shoot it. With Y6S3, attackers can melee the glass to blind the camera, forcing Maestro to open it in order to see.
  • Artistic License – Military: His Keratos .357 is erroneously depicted as being capable of mounting a suppressor. In reality, the revolver's flash gap in between its cylinder and the breech will allow gunfire to escape out of along with expanding gasses from the shot, which will render a suppressor redundant.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He often got into fights as a kid, mostly to protect his younger brothers and sisters.
  • Boisterous Bruiser: Maestro is big, brawny, and a barrel of fun as well as carrying some very big guns. If the quote above doesn't clue you into his personality, take note that he's one of the few Operators consistently seen smiling in official media.
  • But Now I Must Go: Maestro's biggest liability is his wanderlust and unwillingness to become tied up with any permanent posting. A lot of strings therefore had to be pulled by Harry to prevent him from getting bored and leaving Rainbow's service, including but not limited to his friendship with Sledge and Alibi, and Smoke being assigned as his official sparring partner.
  • Cigar Chomper: His character art shows him chomping on one, though he's never seen actually smoking his cigar in-game.
  • Cherry Tapping: The Evil Eye's laser does five points of damage per shot and is meant to be used as a harassment tool or a means to destroy Attacker utilities. However, it ticks four times per second, so it can still kill a sufficiently damaged or distracted enemy.
  • Elites Are More Glamorous: Although the GIS is as elite as they can get, Maestro has the distinction of serving under the "Tuscania" Paratrooper Regiment as well, one of Italy's oldest and most renowned special forces units.
  • Fatal Flaw: Wanderlust. Maestro has a noted inability to stay invested in a cause once he's finished with its objective, which is also combined with his habit of choosing options that he will likely fail at. When it came to Rainbow, there were suggestions that he was to connect with two former members of the SAS. Smoke was the first suggestion, as not only do both share a connection with their affinity for boxing and, since Smoke was the more experienced of the two, fitted Maestro's high-risk, high-reward kind of mentality. Thatcher was another choice, as Maestro holds a genuine respect for the veteran, enough to keep him tongue-tied when around him.
  • A Father to His Men: He is noted to care greatly for the soldiers under his command, and is very eager to lend them a hand if need be.
  • Foil: Maestro acts as one to CBRN specialist Finka. While Finka achieved her status through personal perseverance and raw determination, Maestro achieved his as a team player, supporting his comrades through thick and thin. Both also have a distinct facial scar, but while Finka earned her rather large scar in a freak training accident, Maestro earned his from an IED in Iraq.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: Has a rather long, diagonal gash across his lips, caused by an IED in Iraq.
  • Insistent Terminology: It was actually Twitch who built Maestro's gadget, the Compact Laser Emplacement-V (CLE-V)note . To her dismay, he keeps calling it the "Evil Eye", mainly just to irritate her.
  • The Knights Who Say "Squee!": Maestro holds nothing but genuine admiration and respect for Thatcher, to the point that he becomes rather tongue-tied when around him.
  • The Leader: He possesses strong leadership skills, as noted in his Psych profile. However, it's noted that his own wanderlust holds him back from becoming a true leader when needed.
  • Manly Facial Hair: Has an appropriately bushy beard for a veteran soldier.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: He is the oldest of eight siblings.
  • Meaningful Name: He was nicknamed 'Maestro'note  because he tends to dote over his subordinates, even if some of them don't appreciate it. In a way, his Evil Eye cameras are an extension of his protective personality.
  • Mighty Glacier: A Heavy Armor Operator equipped with some hard-hitting weapons, Maestro's kit encourages anchoring near the objective and holding down corners.
  • Private Military Contractors: At some point, Maestro left the GIS to pursue a career in private consultation where he thrived as a training instructor.
  • Sinister Surveillance: His Evil Eyes are nigh indestructible and could unnerve entire pushes without even having to open its shutter.
  • The Turret Master: Maestro's main gadget, the Evil Eye, is basically a camera with a laser gun. While its damage output is abysmal, it's fast firing and the camera can see through smoke, with 180-degree vision.

Date of Birth: December 15
Age: 37
Team: Defenders
Squad: Viperstrike

A former undercover Carabiniere who helped bring down the Vinciguerra crime family, Alibi can toss down Prisma hologram generators, stationary decoys of herself that reveal Attackers’ positions when they are shot at.

For tropes applicable to her counterpart in Rainbow Six Extraction, see Rainbow Six Extraction REACT.
  • Achilles' Heel: The easiest way to tell if a Prisma is a player or not is to drone it out and red ping. A player Alibi will always be detected.
  • Artistic License – Military: Her Keratos .357 is erroneously depicted as being capable of mounting a suppressor. In reality, the revolver's flash gap in between its cylinder and the breech will allow gunfire to escape out of along with expanding gasses from the shot, which will render a suppressor redundant.
  • Berserk Button: Crime families like the Vinciguerras infuriate Alibi to no end because her father had been a victim of their extortion rackets. It doesn't help that they also love to exploit refugees like herself, which is something that really ticks her off. Team Rainbow is thus warned of her potential to act irrationally, should they end up fighting organized crime groups.
  • But Not Too Foreign: Alibi was a Libyan by birth, but emigrated along with her family across the Mediterranean when she was three and grew up embracing her newfound Italian heritage.
  • Cool Mask: The red bandanna that covers the lower part of her face has the GIS insignia.
  • Doppleganger Spin: Instead of spreading the Prismas around the map, Alibi players can also cluster them near the real Alibi to form an ambush and take advantage of Attackers' resulting confusion. Alibi can even pretend to be a hologram by simply standing on top of the emitter. Although, an observant Attacker will notice the discrepancies between you and the holograms if she is customized in any way.
  • Emergent Gameplay: Some Alibi players have figured out the tactic of dropping Prisma projections in front of windows or behind deployable shields attackers are likely to vault through, to deter them from attempting to do so lest they be instantly exposed. Another tactic involves putting Prismas behind angles, walls and barricades that Attackers commonly pre-fire for free pings.
  • Foil: In many ways, Alibi acts as one to CBRN specialist Lion. While Lion is a by-the-books Operator who will leave innocents in the crossfire if it meant that many more will be saved, Alibi is a fairly impulsive individual who will disregard protocol in order to save everyone. Both have earned their fair share of enemies with their respective mentalities. This also expands to how their gadgets work. While Lion's EE-ONE-D can cause havoc by briefly removing the Defender's element of surprise, Alibi's Prismas cause havoc by creating a sense of doubt when her Prismas are around. Both tag their victims if they're triggered correctly.
  • Glamour Failure: Her Prisma holograms aren't perfect, and there are signs that can tell a hologram apart from the real Alibi. For starters, the holograms are always stationary and standing upright. They are also equipped with an unmodified Mx4 Storm and Alibi's default uniform, so a fully-customized Alibi will instantly stand out among her decoys. The textures are lower quality and the eyes of the hologram are hidden by its goggles, when the real Alibi's aren't. Further, they do not light up in Glaz's sniper scope, which makes him an effective counter to her. Most damningly, however, is that even while stationary the real Alibi fidgets.
  • Glass Cannon: Alibi is a Light Armored Operator equipped with powerful primaries, her playstyle also revolving around roaming and sowing confusion among the enemy with the help of her Prismas.
  • Hologram: Her Prisma emitters generate an almost-perfect copy of Alibinote . Shooting or touching the holograms will reveal the shooter's position to the Defenders for a few seconds.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: If Alibi is on the team, Defenders who run outside will have their identities hidden from the Attackers. Alibi's holograms are also marked the same way if she deploys them outside, potentially confusing the enemy with false flanking maneuvers and spawnpeeks.
  • The Mole: As part of a GIS undercover operation, she worked for the Vinciguerra family as an arms dealer for a few years before she destabilized them from within. Her Sophisticated Veneer Elite Skin is a call back to this part of her career.
  • Scope Snipe: Her Elite Skin's victory animation has an unknown assassin take a shot at her from afar, realizing too late it's a Prisma hologram, as the real Alibi rushes in and shoots the assassin through their scope.
  • Skill Gate Characters: The "hall of mirrors" trick is mostly effectively only in lower levels of play. More experienced players either are capable of quickly telling which Prismas are fake or just accept giving away their position and shooting everything that looks vaguely like an enemy. Meanwhile, Alibi players would rather be roaming around the map than stand still in the open and get shot by complete accident.
  • To Be Lawful or Good: Allegedly choosing to be Good, Alibi leaked information about the GIS's operations, basically nearly compromising everything in order to kickstart the takedown of the Vinciguerra Crime Family much earlier than expected. She did this when she discovered the true extent of the Vinciguerras' human trafficking operations in Genoa, which involved selling immigrants like herself to slavery and prostitution. Unsurprisingly, this earned her a few enemies who suspect that she was the source of the leak.
  • Token Minority: She was born in Libya, but later immigrated to Italy with her family. Her immigration solidifies her minority status in Italy, but she has a pretty Italian name herself, unlike Doc and Jackal who have names common amongst French Algerians and Spanish Morrocans respectively.
  • Unresolved Sexual Tension: With Maestro. Maybe. Their relationship is described to be quite close, but at times volatile.

Voiced by: Alden Adair (EN); Keisuke Fujii (JP)
Date of Birth: April 20
Age: 36
Team: Attackers
Squad: Ghosteyes

A precise, methodical individual from Delta Force who mysteriously went missing for two years in Afghanistan. Maverick's Exothermic-S "Suri" Torch allows him to precisely burn through and make holes on soft and reinforced surfaces.
  • Cherry Tapping: His blowtorch does five points of damage to any Attacker or Hostage it hits. However, it is deceptively powerful in that these five points of damage tick four times per second, resulting in a whopping 20 DPS if Maverick keeps hosing his target, so when left with no other options, the Suri can be used as an impromptu flamethrower against a weakened Defender.
  • Damn You, Muscle Memory!: Unlike regular weapons, "reloading" Maverick's torch will discard any remaining fuel in it. Topping up will result in a lot of wasted fuel, but it may be necessary for some jobs where Maverick will be vulnerable pausing in the middle to reload.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: The "Maverick-Trick" is a technique that turns Maverick into an unstoppable hard-breacher. By burning two complete lines across the width of a reinforcement panel, the metal in-between will fall off and leave just the breakable wall for a soft-breacher to destroy. The lines must be done on the first try, however, as going back to clean them up will lead to you getting shot through the holes you made.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: The left sleeve of his jacket is rolled up, revealing his tattoo.
  • Genius Bruiser: As a kid, he ranked in Boston’s top percentile for intelligence. As an adult, he distinguished himself as an Intelligence Officer and field operative for Delta Force.
  • Glass Cannon: While a Light Armored Operator, Maverick's selection of guns are particularly hard-hitting and has a pair of frags.
  • Going Native: Maverick has more fondness for Kabul than his own hometown of Boston. Fascinated by its vibrant culture, he learned everything from the Dari languagenote , to Buzkashi, to traditional Afghan attire. He even tattooed the map of Afghanistan to his left forearm to forever remind him of his experiences there.
  • Gratuitous Foreign Language: While many Operators are guilty of this in-game, Maverick is notable as he is an American Operator who blurts out phrases in Dari every now and then.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: The openings he makes with his blowtorch work both ways, allowing defenders to fire on him or his teammates through them. The fire of his blowtorch can also be seen from the opposite side of the wall, giving off his position.
  • Living Legend: Maverick is well-known within the Intelligence community as "the spook who went native” in Afghanistan, obtaining enough intel to dismantle a major insurgency operation. Six herself has known him quite well before she recruited him into the Team.
  • MacGyvering: He fashioned his blowtorch from makeshift parts in order to escape captivity, and went on to perfect its design after making his way back.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Unlike his fellow hard-breachers, who mainly deploy set-and-forget devices that open up holes in reinforced surfaces automatically or with minimal interference from the player, Maverick's method requires him to manually select a cutting area and commit to it, which adds an element of riskiness to his job since his is the easiest for Defenders to react to. As a trade-off, due to the entirely manual nature of the Suri, it's the only hard-breaching method that can't be thwarted by electrical jammers or electrifying reinforcement panels.
  • Mysterious Past: Maverick has not shared the details of his disappearance with anyone and is a mystery even to the other members of Team Rainbow. Six has read some of them, though, and describes the whole thing like "a terrifying thriller".
  • Noodle Implements: "Suri's" Gas Tank, where Maverick claims it has been with him ever since he brought it to Afghanistan. Thermite is clearly unsure about the implications of it in his notes about the gadget.
  • Noodle Incident: Whatever happened in Afghanistan caused him to go MIA for two years, then come back with a custom blowtorch he had ever since and a ton of intel on insurgent groups remains a mystery. A piece of concept art implies that he was a prisoner of war, for a time.
  • The Stoic: Maverick is noted to be difficult to engage in discussion due to his solitary nature and intelligence. Start talking about Kabul, however, and he brightens up like a giddy schoolkid eager to tell stories about it.
  • Weak, but Skilled: His blowtorch has a limited fuel supply and creating a big enough hole for a character to walk through will use almost all of it and the round timer, meaning the torch can be better used to make murder-holes, crouch holes, or Maverick-tricking. On the other hand, since it's not an electronic gadget, Mute's signal disruptors and electrification cannot prevent him from cutting into reinforced walls and hatches, and it's much quieter than either Thermite, Ace's, or Hibana's gadgets.

    Clash

"Come closer. I dare you."
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/r6s_operators_badge_clash.png
Voiced by: Sophia Walker (EN); Kayo Ishida (JP)
Date of Birth: July 7
Age: 35
Team: Defenders
Squad: Wolfguard

A no-nonsense, hardened officer from the Metropolitan Police Service who made a name for herself during the 2011 London riots. Clash is equipped with the Crowd Control Electro Shield, a full-body ballistic shield which emits an electric charge that slows down and damages enemies in range.
  • Achilles' Heel: Unlike other shield carrying Operators, Clash cannot melee or hold a weapon while her shield is up. Being hit with a melee attack, Twitch's taser, or explosions will temporarily knock her shield away, and she must put her shield away completely before she can draw her gun.
  • Bald Head of Toughness: A completely stern, tough as nails individual with no strand of hair on her noggin.
  • British Coppers: Duh. But while she looks like a riot cop, Clash is actually a Detective Constable from the 'SCO19' Police Firearms Unit, which is basically London's premier SWAT Team.
  • Close-Range Combatant: As standard for shield operators, her shield is her primary weapon and she is restricted to powerful, short-range secondaries.
  • Emergent Gameplay:
    • Her shield is transparent, making it easier for teammates playing behind her to track opponents in front than Montagne.
    • Clash draws her shield with her right arm, so if faced with being guard-broken, players turn to the left so the shield continues to protect her as she puts her shield on her back, crouch to protect her legs, and whip around to blast any Attackers that thought they could rush forward and knife her.
  • Game-Breaking Bug: Aside from glitches that allow her to use her gun with her shield, Clash was regularly disabled as players kept finding new ways to crash the game with her. It is apparently due to the difficulties of the game engine rendering transparent materials, like the stuff her shield is mostly made out of.
  • Hot-Blooded: Clash has a fiery temper, does not balk from any challenge, and absolutely loves going toe-to-toe with the enemy. She also shouts most of her lines, particularly when deploying her shield.
Clash: Come at me! I DARE YOU!
  • Ironic Name: It's pretty hard to think of Britain and the word "clash" without thinking of The Clash, a band who were very clear and vocal about their dislike of the English police. For additional irony, Clash herself fought the cops in her youth, only to become one herself.
  • Long-Range Fighter: Despite having a shield similar to Montagne, the last place Clash wants to be is right in the Attackers' faces. She needs to put the shield on her back to access her other weapons and her guard break leaves her quite vulnerable. Clash needs to keep her enemies beyond arms reach, using her shield's slowing effect to hold them at bay.
  • No Indoor Voice: Clash has one volume setting and that is loud. Most of her voice lines are her screaming at the top of her lungs, sometimes at nothing in particular. She does have lines that are not shouted out loud, though they're the exceptions rather than the rule.
  • Not the Intended Use:
    • In its folded state, the CCE covers more of her body than even Attackers' ballistic shields, making her perfect for disabling the defuser in exposed positions.
    • Some take it to the next step and have her crouch on a raised surface, shield on her back and facing the enemy, while her teammates shoot between her legs in the slit between the shield and the surface, basically using her as a portable Mira they can shoot through. It's even better than her standing since she can't get guard-broken with the shield on her back.
    • As shields reduce the damage their wielders receive from explosions, Clash can walk into and trigger claymores set by the Attackers, preferably with them standing next to it.
  • Precision F-Strike: Clash is another addition of Operators who openly curses in some of her lines. As most of these occur when she deploys her shield against enemies, she comes across as a Lady Swears-a-Lot too.
Clash: Slow the fuck down! FUCK OFF!
  • Rabble Rouser: In her youth, Clash used to stir up violent riots against racist groups in order to protect her community, heedless of collateral damage. But after one riot led to the death of her close friend and mentor, she decided to tone down her ruthlessness and work towards keeping the peace. To this end, she worked with the Metropolitan Police Service as an insider, and later as a full-time officer.
  • Reformed, but Not Tamed: As a former rioter herself, Clash is well-versed in mob control and snatch squad tactics. That said, being a police officer has not dampened her temper in the slightest, and she is still as aggressive and brutish as when she was a troublemaker.
  • Scary Black Man: Rare female example. Clash is a very violent, foul-mouthed, and Hot-Blooded woman, who will constantly shout at her enemies to goad them into attacking her. Makes sense, given her former job as a riot control officer.
  • Shock and Awe: Clash's shield emits an electrifying effect, not unlike Bandit's Shock Wires. While it deals out only a few points of damage, it also causes enemies to slow down to a walking pace, making them easy pickings for other Defenders.
  • Stone Wall: As the very first shield Operator for Defense, Clash is a Heavy Armored Operator who moves very slowly. Unlike other shield Operators though, she cannot use her shield and her sidearm at the same time. While she does have decent firepower, her main use is to slow down the enemy.

An avid traveller and expert on environmental operations, Nomad fires Airjab repulsion grenades from a rifle-mounted grenade launcher. These non-lethal grenades stick to surfaces and act like a proximity mine where it detonates and knocks back enemies that enter its range, leaving them briefly vulnerable.

For tropes applicable to her counterpart in Rainbow Six Extraction, see Rainbow Six Extraction REACT.
  • A.K.A.-47: Going by receiver markings on the model, Nomad's "AK-74M" is actually a WASR-10, a Romanian semi-auto AKM clone, in Magpul furniture and fitted with an AK-74 magazinenote .
  • Artistic License – Military: Her ARX200 (an ARX160 chambered in 7.62 NATO) is erroneously classified and referred to as an Assault Rifle even though the more correct term would be a Battle Rifle.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: In-Universe, it is said that the Airjab Launcher could've been an invaluable piece of kit for military and civilian applications, if only the Grenades weren't so damn expensive to make.
  • Blown Across the Room: Downplayed, given the knockback range is rather modest. Defenders who stray into the range of her Airjabs will be violently hurled backwards several meters and destroying any soft wall, barricade, Castle panels, deployable shields, or miscellaneous environmental object along the way (and also Trax Stinger patches, which will be destroyed by a Defender flying at them), while also leaving them momentarily disoriented and vulnerable to attacks. An Airjab knockback considered regular movement by the game coding, and being blown at vaultable surfaces will not let you pass over them if they aren't destructible. However, fall damage is still a possibility if a Defender is blown off of a very high place, so crafty placement of the mines can still score Ring Out kills. Interestingly enough, the mechanics of the Airjab mine was recycled from the Smasher's knockback attack in Outbreak sans the on-hit damage.
  • Fingore: She's missing the tips of her right middle and ring fingers, due to frostbite from her expedition in Siberia. While Nomad owns a set of prosthetics to hide her injuries, she often prefers not to wear them.
  • Goggles Do Nothing: Nomad wears a pair of goggles over her head (or over her eyes, as with the Season Pass headgear).
  • In the Hood: Nomad's default uniform comes with a hood. Upon closer inspection, we can see she is actually wearing two of them at once.
  • Laser Sight: Her Launcher is fitted with a highly-noticeable yellow laser sight that only activates whenever she's about to launch her Airjab Grenades. Defenders can use this to anticipate her attack and plan accordingly, as well as to pinpoint her location.
  • Nature Lover: So much so that even when confronted by a pack of wild hyenas, she would rather leave them be than risk hurting them (unless left with no other choice). This became one of the inspirations behind the creation of her Airjab Grenades.
  • Non-Idle Rich: One of the reasons why she joined the Moroccan military was to prove to her peers that she was not a "spoiled rich girl". To date, she is one of her country's top survival specialists and is among the best long-distance explorers in the world. That said, she is not entirely free from her family's clout and money, as the development of her Airjab Grenades was only made possible by her father's government connections.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. A same callsign was used in this case, with Anthony "Nomad" Perryman from Ghost Recon Wildlands, both of whom come from the larger Tom Clancy's franchise by Ubisoft. To make things more confusing, both games take place in the same universe, with Wildlands featuring a mission involving members of Team Rainbow. Tom Clancy's Elite Squad seems to acknowledge this shared name, where she is designated "El Maktoub Nomad" to differentiate her from the Wildlands character.
  • Recognizable by Sound: The Y4S3.1 patch gave armed Airjabs a soft beeping noise that can be heard by Defenders in close proximity, allowing them to react in advance.
  • Sticky Bomb: Her Airjab Grenades stick to surfaces and act as proximity mines. Nomad is, in fact, billed as the first-ever Attacker who can plant traps (excluding those with claymore mines).
  • Walking the Earth: Hence the nickname "Nomad". When not on a mission, she frequently sets out on solo expeditions all over the world to test her limits, and she has been to Africa, Europe, Asia, and everywhere in between. She dreams of becoming the first woman to cross Antartica itself, on her own and on foot. Her Operator page in the official website has an interactive Notebook that details her travels.

Age: 58
Team: Defenders
Squad: Redhammer

The traditionalist Commander of the Kasbah Sehkra Mania Fortress in the Atlas Mountains, Kaid can throw Rtila Electroclaws, devices that electrify reinforcements, barbed wire, and deployable shields within a short radius where the electrified surfaces will damage enemies and destroy their drones and gadgets if they make contact with it.
  • The Big Guy: At a whopping 1.95 meters, or 6'5'', Kaid is currently the tallest member of Team Rainbow and most of his weapons pack quite a punch. When introduced he was also the heaviest operator in the game at 98kg; as of Year Five he is only surpassed in mass by Oryx (130kg) and Gridlock (103kg).
  • Birds of a Feather: He and Thatcher get along quite well, due to their advanced age and their shared wariness over Rainbow's love of high-tech toys.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": His cadets do actually refer to him as "Kaid", since it's his rank, meaning "commander". It's a title that he inherited from the prior Kaids of the fortress he's currently in charge of.
  • Emergent Gameplay: Kaid's Electroclaws can be thrown anywhere and do not require direct contact, so they do not have to be in the same room or even the same floor to the desired effect.
  • Made of Iron: Unlike most other Heavy Armor Operators, Kaid does not visibly wear any armor, meaning his durability is presumably entirely his own.
  • Manly Facial Hair: Wise, physically imposing, and a veteran instructor. A beard is almost obligatory.
  • Married to the Job: Presumably, since he had to "sacrifice a personal life" in order to manage his training facility up to the highest possible standards. He is so committed to the job that most other people find it hard to connect with him on a personal level.
  • Meaningful Name: "Kaid" means "Commander" in Arabic, which precisely describes his leadership capabilities and his role as overall master of the Kasbah Sehkra Mania. In addition, "Rtila" means "spider", which is what the Electroclaw looks like when deployed on a surface.
  • Mighty Glacier: As a Heavy Armor Operator, Kaid's playstyle revolves around locking the objective down using his Electroclaws.
  • National Weapon: Kaid wears a ceremonial koummya on his uniform that serves as his badge of office.
  • Old Soldier: Kaid is one of the oldest members of the Team, with him being aged 58. That said, he is more of a mentor than a soldier, given that he is more renowned for personally training scores of Moroccan Special Forces Operators like Nomad than leading them into battle.
  • Screw the Money, I Have Rules!: Before Kaid took control, the Fortress was quite notorious for taking bribes from rich families. This poor reputation all but disappeared under his leadership, and the Fortress instead became renowned as one of the best military training facilities in the world.
  • Shock and Awe: For all intents and purposes, the Electroclaw is a portable, throwable version of Bandit's Shock Wires. Unlike the latter, Kaid's gadget can electrify multiple objects at a time and hide his devices better, but it takes longer to activate.
