Russian Republic

Official Name: Russian Democratic Federative Republic
Ruling Party: Komitet Vosstanovlenija Demokratiinote
Ideology: Interim Governmentnote
Russia's history within the past decades has been nothing short of turbulent. Ever since the Revolution of 1905 that toppled the Tsarist system and bore the Republic, Russia has faced numerous challenges in its' status as a democracy, from the restorationist Drozdovite putsch in 1917, to Boris Savinkov's presidential dictatorship that oversaw a disastrous war with Germany. Now, in the wake of a coup following his death, the Komvosdem was formed by the remaining pre-Savinkov political parties and their military allies. Whether they'll set aside their differences for the sake of the Republic, will in turn decide its' future. General Tropes
- Shocking Defeat Legacy: The effects of Russia's vastly humiliating defeat against Japan, the catalyst for the Tsarist government's overthrow, can still be seen and felt in the present day.
- State Sec: The Okhranka, or formally the Department for the Protection of Public Safety and Order under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, remains as Russia's primary secret police force. Having received a large amount of funding during the Savinkov presidency, where they were repurposed to silence his political opponents, their officers served as the then-President's tool in brutally crushing any dissent. Ever since, they have grown immensely in both size and influence.

- Cincinnatus: Only a week into the year, Shaposhnikov will step down and hand over all of his power to the rest of the Komvosdem, who will then appoint a civilian leader in his place to begin Russia's path back to democracy.
- Defector from Decadence: Shaposhnikov and his troops were initially given orders by the Savinkovist government to crush the protesters calling for a return to democracy. Appalled, Shaposhnikov refused and instead ordered his own troops to stand against the government alongside the people, which eventually ended in the loyalist government being overthrown in a bloodless coup.
