Main Trio

    Eiko (A-ko) Magami

Voiced by: Miki Itō (Japanese), Stacey Gregg (English, movie), Teryl Rothery (English, OVAs)

The protagonist of the series and Graviton High's newest transfer student. She's an attractive 16-year old, who's super fast, freakishly strong, and habitually late for class. All she wants is a perfect summer, where she hopes for a chance to meet a cute boy... if she didn't have to put up with B-ko and her gadgets.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ako_7.png
  • Action Girl: No matter the situation, A-ko will always be in the thick of it; from dealing with B-ko and her mech designs to thwarting full-blown alien invasions. In Uncivil Wars, she and B-ko work together as bounty hunters.
  • Age Lift: She's 16 in the series proper, but her age is changed to 19 in A-ko the Versus.
  • Childhood Friends: According to A-ko, she and C-ko have known each other since kindergarten.
  • Cute Bruiser: What else would you call a girl who can heft mecha and toss 'em around like paperweights or casually tear chunks out of titanium alloy and circuitry? But she's not all muscle and is shown to be a looker.
  • Does Not Know Her Own Strength: A-ko forgets just how strong she is sometimes. Such as when she took a trip to a public pool without her wristbands and decided to do a high dive. She spiked the water hard enough that her entire upper body got stuck in the floor tiles and nearly drowned.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She and B-ko are fiercely competitive over Kei in Cinderella Rhapsody and Final; causing their already tense rivalry to escalate even further.
  • Fiery Redhead: You do not want to piss her off (unless your name is "B-ko"), because of her immense strength and her penchant for violence.
  • Good Morning, Crono: The original film opens with her waking up to a radio morning show, before getting ready for her first day at Graviton High.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Implied to be half Kryptonian, half Amazon (or Lawyer-Friendly Cameo equivalents) at the end of the first movie.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: A-ko and C-ko have been friends since gradeschool, though C-ko's attachment to A-ko borders on girl-crush territory at times.
  • Hopeless Suitor: To Kei, because he only has eyes for C-ko.
  • Human Aliens: The first film implies that she's the daughter of Superman and Wonder Woman (or Lawyer-Friendly Cameo equivalents).
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: In Cinderella Rhapsody, she tells C-ko how she dreams of the perfect summer, where she'd find a boyfriend and spend romantic evenings with him.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Moves at near hypersonic speeds, strong enough to tear up the landscape by simply running past it, and durable enough to withstand missile fire and direct hits from two story mecha.
  • Lovely Angels: In Uncivil Wars, she and B-ko live together on a dune covered alien planet, where they work as bounty hunters.
  • Luminescent Blush: She's prone to it whenever she's around Kei, or when she's daydreaming about him.
  • Meaningful Name: Not only does the first Kanji of "Eiko" translate as "Hero", Megami translates as "Goddess", which given her mother is an Amazon, rather appropriate.
  • Moe Couplet: C-ko looks and acts so much younger than A-ko that she can be easily mistaken for a kid, which creates the impression of A-ko being a protective "big sister" whenever she defends C-ko.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Most of the toplessness and Panty Shots you'll see come from her.
    • The first film opens with sunlight filtering through her nightshirt, revealing she isn't wearing a bra. When her alarm goes off, we get the full exposure as she takes off her nightshirt and runs in just her panties to her closet to get dressed.
    • The second movie has a full scene of nothing but her changing from her street clothes into her swimsuit while keeping her privates covered. The comic adaptation dispenses with that and gives the reader a clear view of her bare chest.
    • In the pool scene, where she's stuck headfirst in the flooring, emphasis is placed on her legs and buttocks as she tries to pull herself free.
    • During the alien invasion, B-ko accidentally drops her as she narrowly avoids an incoming missile. A-ko lands on the canopy of a fighter jet; giving the pilot (and the audience) a generous view up her skirt. The arrows of his HUD are even positioned at both points of entry of A-ko's privates.
    • In A-ko the Versus/Uncivil Wars, she has an Imagine Spot of herself naked while Maruten happily whips her (she assumes this is what she wil have to do in exchange for Maruten reviving B-ko, but he is aghast and just wants help defeating Xena), and in the second episode, the cramped space of Maruten's ship forces A-ko to sit with her legs wide open, directly behind him. It gives him and the audience a closeup and unobstructed view of her panty-covered crotch, causing Maruten to blush.
    • And in the final scene, A-ko pulls down her shirt collar when she notices he's no longer with them. During which, we get to see both her fully exposed nipples.
  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: She pauses in the middle of her fight with Liza, when she hears B-ko call her name telepathically... right as she gets shot and killed by Gail.
  • Nigh-Invulnerable: A-ko's resilient enough to survive multiple barrages of B-ko's missile fire, being smashed through brick walls, and once withstood being crushed underfoot by a two story mecha, before forcing its foot off of her. Is it any wonder they need the defense force for her?
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Her initial reaction when she realizes B-ko's finally become angry enough to face her directly.
A-ko: (nervously) "L-look... can't we talk about this?"
      B-ko: "It's TOO LATE!!"
    • A-ko has one of these moments at the end of The VS when she sees Liza advancing on her with a Wave-Motion Gun-style bazooka.
  • Only in It for the Money: In The VS, B-ko has to bring up the possibility of profit to push A-ko into helping rescue C-ko. As the future heiress to the Kotobuki fortune, her father would likely pay a considerable sum for her safe return. Or at least he would have, if he had not overreacted by spending his entire fortune on her rescue operation.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Applies to both her and B-ko. By the time of the second film, the city's defense force has created a special detachment specifically to contain the destruction caused by their fights! And in Cinderella Rhapsody, they now issue a citywide evacuation order once they get started again.
  • Power Incontinence: A-ko often forgets her own strength and usually leaves disaster in her wake, such as when she is late for school. Her speed often creates an aftertow that tears up the asphalt. If she removes her wristbands, simply flicking her wrist creates fissures.
  • Power Limiter: That's what her wristbands are designed for, which isn't revealed until Cinderella Rhapsody. Without them, a simple flick of her wrist was powerful enough to carve a fissure through the hull on Captain Napolitalita's ship! And even then, she's still freakishly strong.
  • Protagonist Title: Hence, her name being in the title of each film.
  • Restraining Bolt: A-ko's wristbands reduce her powers to almost manageably safe levels.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Too bad the guy she's in love with wants her friend, C-ko, instead.
  • Super-Senses: In the first movie it's shown that her hearing is super enough to pick up C-ko calling for help from the other side of the school grounds and while inside a building.
  • Super-Speed: She's fast enough that the aftertow rips apart concrete; leaving a swath of destruction in her wake. It's what lead B-ko to create Akagiyama-23, as it's the only way she can keep up with her.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: A-ko is the boyish one, while B-ko's and C-ko's femininity is more pronounced. She later desperately wants to change this by trying to embrace her femininity in order to attract guys. But, so far, no good.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Despite the initial impression she gives off, A-ko isn't totally devoid of femininity. She prides herself on her appearance, in hopes of attracting a cute boy, and goes shopping for dresses to make herself more presentable.
  • Waif-Fu: A-ko is only the size of an ordinary teenage girl but is strong enough to destroy everything around her.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With B-ko, in the Uncivil Wars continuity.

    Biko (B-ko) Daitokuji

Voiced by: Emi Shinohara (Japanese note ), Denica Fairman (English, movie), Venus Terzo (English, OVAs)

As the heiress of the Daitokuji Family and an honors student at Graviton High, B-ko commands a great deal of respect. At least, she would, if it weren't for her over inflated ego, or if she wasn't also a bully with her sights set on claiming C-ko for herself. Naturally, this puts her at odds with A-ko, who won't stand for it.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bko_6.jpg
  • Academic Alpha Bitch: She's often bored by the material Ms. Ayumi has them study because she already knows it. At one point, reciting a passage from memory, when called upon in class.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: Her counterpart in A-ko the Versus displays none of the lesbian inclinations of the B-ko of the main continuity, being solely attracted to the male villain Gail.
  • Age Lift: Her age is changed from 17 to 21 in the A-ko the Versus continuity.
  • Alpha Bitch: Subverted. While B-ko has beauty, vast intellect, and the privilege of being from a fabulously wealthy and influential family, no one really likes her, and they want to see her taken down several notches because of her inflated ego. The other students eventually rally behind A-ko, turning her into their hero.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: B-ko is a rare case, where all three apply to the same character:
    • The series often emphasizes her beauty, from bath scenes, to when she's tossing her hair over her shoulder for effect. In A-ko the Versus both Grash and Gail took note of her, with the latter remarking on her eyes twice and he becomes romantically involved with her.
    • Her intellect is self-evident, given she's capable of conceptualizing mecha overnight and can have them ready to go by morning. In Plot of the Daitokuji Financial Group, she was able to fully repair Ms. Napolitalita's ship in a single evening. But her crowning achievement is Akagiyama-23, which allows her to fight A-ko on equal footing.
    • Finally, there's her power. B-ko may look dainty, but she can lift a spider tank and toss it several hundred meters and is resilient enough to take a full powered kick from A-ko. And their fight in Cinderella Rhapsody revealed she was capable of matching her even without her battle armor!
  • Big Bad: For much of the film series, though specifically in the original film's first part and Cinderella Rhapsody, wherein she fights with A-ko over C-ko and Kei, coming up with various plans to defeat her rival.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: With her father Hikaru in FINAL, trying to sabotage the wedding he is forcing Kei into so she can have Kei for herself.
  • Bishie Sparkle: Sometimes used for effect when B-ko tosses her hair. At other times, she'll be seen surrounded by sparkles and rose petals.
  • Bottomless Magazines: Averted in the original film, where B-ko is shown reloading missile packs twice. In the second instance, she noted it was her last one. It's played straight from the second film onwards.
  • Chainmail Bikini: Akagiyama-23 is an armored suit, designed specifically to enhance her speed and reflexes to match A-ko's. It's her crowning achievement.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl:
    • B-ko envies A-ko's relationship with C-ko and tries everything—from treating C-ko to lavish luncheons to beating A-ko into submission—in an effort to win C-ko over.
    • B-ko and A-ko are both fiercely competitive over Kei in Cinderella Rhapsody and Final; causing their already tense rivalry to escalate even further.
  • Cute and Psycho: First seen midway into the original film, when the stress from A-ko defeating several of her mecha begins to take its toll on her. She's shown muttering to herself with a psychotic smirk while drafting her next design:
B-ko: "Just you wait, A-ko... Revenge will be sweet, sweet, sweet! And you, A-ko, are GOING TO die, DIE, DIIIEEE!!"
(her pen finally snaps in half from the stress of steadily being pressed into the desktop)
B-ko: (stifles laugh, then...) "Haha... HEH! MWAHAAHAHAHAAA!!"
  • Daddy's Girl: Zigzagged. Mr. Daitokuji adores his daughter and admires her ingenuity, except for when it's costing him a fortune to finance her designs. Or when she and A-ko interfere in his plans by demolishing his designs for the city's defense force.
  • Dark Action Girl: She's initially A-ko's counterpart, and only teams up with her out of necessity. But in the latter two films, she becomes a more traditional heroine.
  • Depraved Bisexual: She is blatantly in love with both C-ko and Kei, and is willing to carry out evil schemes and beat up A-ko to steal them for herself. Though downplayed as she does have a soft side and isn't particularly evil, just a Jerkass.
  • Deuteragonist: Her status as heiress to the Daitokuji Family and A-ko's rival makes her the series next most pivotal character.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Her creation of the MAX-5000,a Humongous Mecha with many powers, would have posed a challenge to A-ko... if she didn't shape the cockpit in a way that prevents its driver from being able to reach the levers to operate the thing.
  • Embarrassing but Empowering Outfit: By now, Akagiyama-23 must seem pretty badass, but there's a questionable design issue: it's skimpy and comes with a visor. When she first reveals it at school, it causes A-ko and the other students to laugh at her... until she starts kicking A-ko's ass with it.
  • Enemy Mine: B-ko repeatedly shows a willingness to set aside her grievances with A-ko so long as it either benefits both of them or helps B-ko gain brownie points with C-ko.
  • Evil Laugh: Whenever she loses her shit. Meaning, whenever she cracks after losing to A-ko.
  • Freudian Excuse: Doubles as her Motive Rant, once she finally loses her composure with A-ko, due to complaining about being late for class again.
B-ko: (angrily, with tears) "Is that all you care about?? Being a "good girl"?! Charming the teachers?! Well! Naturally, it's never occurred to you that some children just aren't born with the same charm! But what do you care? You've always been the heroine, while I had to be the one everyone says is spoiled! Okay, if they say I'm 'the bad girl', then that's what I'm GONNA BE!!"
  • Gadgeteer Genius: B-ko has a penchant for automotronics—she can conceptualize a mecha, draw up the plans, and have it up and running the next day. In The VS, she designed a fully armed battle skimmer from the wreckage of her shared home with A-ko.
  • Graceful Ladies Like Purple: Her hair is purple and forms into tendrils at the front.
  • Heel–Face Turn: For much of the original film, she's its primary antagonist due to her grudge against A-ko. From the second film onwards, she grows closer to her, but never to the point of actually becoming friends.
  • Hopeless Suitor: To both C-ko and Kei. Kei only has eyes for C-ko and is utterly indifferent to any other woman. C-ko, meanwhile, is fixated on A-ko and also dislikes B-ko because she used to bully C-ko when they were little girls - something the Womanchild very clearly remembers.
  • If It's You, It's OK: B-ko's primary sexual attraction is clearly towards women, but she also falls for the very-much-male Kei.
  • It Runs in the Family: There's two things she and her father share in common: 1. they excel at mechanical designs 2. they're both batshit insane, which usually shows when they're pissed.
  • Long Hair Is Feminine: To further contrast her with A-ko. While hers is just past shoulder-length, B-ko's reaches the small of her back.
  • Lovely Angels: She's A-ko's partner in the A-ko the Versus continuity.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: B-ko's signature attack is her "Akagiyama Missile", which she can fire in short bursts, or in a continuous barrage.
  • Made of Iron: Despite her delicate appearance, her body's rock solid. As seen during her first battle with A-ko, when the latter sent her flying down the hall with a full-powered kick. B-ko struck the wall with enough force to leave a body print (which shook the building) but was only briefly stunned by it.
  • Not So Above It All: Though typically a stickler for proper conduct, there is one exception: she can't. Stand. A-ko because she keeps beating her. So B-ko will stop at nothing to beat her into submission.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: At first, B-ko seems dependent on her mecha to do her fighting. But once she reaches her breaking point, she decides to deal with A-ko personally... and starts winning. It's at that point A-ko and the audience realizes B-ko is not to be taken lightly.
  • The Ojou: The Daitokujis are fabulously wealthy, to where B-ko has servants of her own. Her classmates: Asa, Ine, Ume, and Mari.
  • Ojou Ringlets: The pair of locks that frame the sides of B-ko's face are curled.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: Subverted in the film when B-ko narrowly avoids an incoming missile and accidentally drops A-ko.
B-ko: A-ko! [pouts in disappointment] I wanted to have the pleasure of finishing you myself. [Beat] ...oh well, can't have everything!
  • Our Hero Is Dead: In Uncivil Wars, B-ko tries to stop Gail on her own, while A-ko's busy fighting Liza. Gail shoots her through the chest, killing her on the spot. Then leaves the body as a warning to A-ko. Moments after they're gone, Maruten appears and brings B-ko back to life.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: This applies to both her and A-ko because of their excessive power—especially once they start fighting. From the second OVA onwards, Graviton City has a special detachment of their defense force specifically to limit the ensuing destruction. By the time of Cinderella Rhapsody, they even issue an emergency evaction order over the city's PA system after A-ko and B-ko start fighting aboard Napolitalita's ship.
  • Proper Lady: As a result of her status and upbringing, B-ko is very well-mannered, soft-spoken, dresses properly for all occasions, and strictly adheres to proper conduct... except when it comes to A-ko.
  • Psycho Lesbian: She wants C-ko and she's determined to pound the tar out of A-ko if that's what it takes. The latter films downplay it, as she develops feelings for Kei.
  • Razor Wind: In Cinderella Rhapsody, she has a device which allows her to make these by flicking her wrist, without needing her Akagiyama-23 suit.
  • Returning Big Bad: After sitting out of the antagonist role for the second film, she becomes the antagonist again in the third and fourth films, competing with A-ko to win Kei's heart.
  • Rich Bitch: Small wonder that she has such a HUGE ego, given that her family's loaded. B-ko often flaunts her status to belittle A-ko or in her attempts to impress C-ko.
  • The Rival: Of all the people who have tried, only B-ko has been able to match A-ko's ability. Their fights occasionally end in a stalemate. Though, even when she loses, it's usually by a narrow margin.
  • Stockholm Syndrome: B-ko starts to fall for Gail in The VS with her initial reason for following him to keep an eye on C-ko, even though he's obviously a religious fanatic bent on destroying every universe (not to mention the fact that he killed her earlier in the story).
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: She lives with A-ko in Uncivil Wars, where they're on somewhat friendlier terms.
  • What Beautiful Eyes!: Which what draws Gail to her, after she survives being shot by him. Later when she confronts him at his lair, he remarks that her eyes captivate him, before they share a kiss.
  • Whip of Dominance: While wearing the Dominatrix styled Leotard of Power to fight A-ko, she also summons a whip that she cornily names "Black Jacovini Shooting Star Lash!" and she later uses a whip again when she and A-ko are bickering in The VS. It's a weapon fitting for her domineering Rich Bitch personality.
  • White-Haired Pretty Girl: The color varies by film - ranging from silvery grey to light purple.

    Shiiko (C-ko) Kotobuki

Voiced by: Michie Tomizawa (Japanese), Julia Brahms (English, movie), Cathy Weseluck (English, OVAs)

The third member of the series' core trio. C-ko has been friends with A-ko since they were in kindergarten and is firmly attached to her as a result. Her childlike appearance and behavior set her apart from A-ko and B-ko, which is often used to comical effect.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cko_6.jpg
  • Age Lift: In A-ko the Versus, her age is reduced from 17 to 10.
  • Alien Princess: Of the Alpha Cygnans.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: In the comic version of Plot of the Daitokuji Financial Group, her first reaction upon seeing all of the agents draw their weapons is, "Oooh, look at all the shiny guns!"
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: A-ko used to protect her from B-ko when they were kids, which made her a hero to C-ko. They've been inseparable ever since.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: In A-ko the Versus, which cranks the "brat" factor up by 11 since she's younger.
  • Childhood Friends: With A-ko, as noted in her section.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: C-ko is shown to be possessive of A-ko in Cinderella Rhapsody when A-ko shows up riding on Kei's motorcycle. She also gets worried about A-ko's escalating rivalry with B-ko in Final.
  • The Cutie: Her antics aside, she's so adorable that few can resist her charm, including Mari, which is why A-ko and B-ko are both so fiercely protective of her.
  • Distressed Damsel: The Alpha Cygnans kidnap her twicenote  during the series. Whereas in A-ko the Versus, she gets abducted by Grash and Liza instead. A-ko and B-ko join forces to rescue her each time.
  • Fighting from the Inside: The VS culminates in her fighting Xena for control over her body. This provides A-ko with the opening she needs to finally kill Xena.
  • Genki Girl: She's so energetic that A-ko gets exhausted dealing with her sometimes.
  • The Glomp: You'll often see her latched onto A-ko' arm while they're out shopping, or taking in the sights, and she's especially prone to it when she's scared. At that point, she's even willing to glomp B-ko.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: A-ko and C-ko have been friends since gradeschool, though C-ko's attachment to A-ko borders on girl-crush territory at times.
  • I Choose to Stay: Both times the Alpha Cygnans have tried to return her to her home planet, she's flatly refused. She'd rather remain on Earth with A-ko, B-ko, and Mari.
  • Incompatible Orientation: Although C-ko is never explicitly identified as a lesbian, if you make the very short leap that she is one, then her infatuation with A-ko fits this trope, as A-ko never expresses any explicit interest in girls, but plenty in men.
  • The Ingenue: C-ko is described in the in one of the Japanese promos as "innocence personified". Naturally, this makes her the helpless damsel in distress in the series.
  • Kawaiiko: She embodies Japanese cuteness.
  • Lethal Chef: She once fixed a bento boxed lunch for A-ko that was so terrible, a single bite made her face rapidly change color four times before she blew fire and passed out. The same thing happened to her when she tried it herself. It also happened to D, despite her efforts to contain it.
  • MacGuffin-Person Reveal: D's reports initially lead the audience to assume that A-ko is the lost princess they're looking for because she notes the speed of A-ko approach each morning. However, it ends up being a Red Herring as the reports were actually about C-ko.
  • Moe Couplet: C-ko looks and acts so much younger than A-ko that she can be easily mistaken for a kid, which creates the impression of A-ko being a protective "big sister" whenever she defends C-ko.
  • Mundane MacGuffin Person: C-ko doesn't have any powers. The Alpha Cygnans simply want her to return home with them because she's their missing princess, while Xena in The Vs wants her because she needs a young body to be able to control the Dragon God.
  • Naïve Everygirl: While C-ko is not a saint, she is innocent and optimistic, and she believes in love and friendship. Instead of the standard bullies, she has weird shit happening to her at times. She has issues with being alone. She also has the "lovesick girl" aspect as well.
  • No Indoor Voice: She's so hyperactive that she can barely contain herself at times. A-ko will often tell her to lower her voice, but it rarely works. Such as the following exchange, when they first introduce themselves to the class:
    A-ko: (at C-ko) "C-ko, shut UP! You're embarrassing me!"
C-ko: (giggling) "I don't care. "Let it all hang out!" I always say!"
  • Ocular Gushers: If you make her cry, you'd best break out the umbrella and the earplugs.
  • Odd Friendship: Mari is the one C-ko forms the closest attachment to besides A-ko and has been known to give her gifts on occasion. This has caused Mari to develop a soft spot for her.
  • Older Than They Look: She is 17, but you'd never know it from the way she looks, acts, or sounds. She could easily pass for 12-13 instead.
  • Ordinary Highschool Student: C-ko is the only one out of the three that doesn't have any superpowers or special abilities. Aside from the fact that she's the Alpha Cygnans' lost princess, she's the same as the other students at Graviton High.
  • Otaku Surrogate: C-ko displays shades of this from time to time. In the Japanese version, she remarks Miss Ayumi reminds her of someone, and on the Final Concert album, C-ko's solo song is basically a medley of old anime themes.
  • Out of Focus: She barely gets any screentime from the moment she's kidnapped in A-ko the Versus. Half of what little time she does get is spent being possessed by Xena.
  • Parental Abandonment: According to one of the artbooks, she was adopted by a wealthy old couple who indulged her. However, they died sometime before the story began, making her an orphan, at least until she meets her mother in FINAL.
  • Princesses Prefer Pink: She is seen wearing pink often.
  • Prone to Tears: It doesn't take much to make C-ko cry, especially if anyone yells at her. Also, the thought of being alone frightens her.
  • Rags to Royalty: From orphan to alien princess.
  • Security Cling: Invoked whenever she's frightened. She's even willing to glomp B-ko if no one else is available.
  • Take a Third Option: At the end of The Final, rather than choose between A-ko or B-ko, she decides to just be best friends with everyone.
  • Third-Person Person: In Japanese, she often refers to herself in the third person.
  • Token Mini-Moe: Compared to A-ko and B-ko or any of B-ko's squad (except Ume). She is a milder example, as she is the same age as the other girls and isn't abnormally short. She becomes a more traditional example in A-ko the Versus due to being younger.
  • Weirdness Magnet: Whenever C-ko is the Distressed Damsel, it's usually because she's this.
  • Womanchild: If you see 17-year-olds as women, then C-ko is one, as she has the personality, cuteness, vulnerability, and dependence of a child.
    • Her level of understanding is also like that of a child's, such as failing to grasp why A-ko is interested in finding a boyfriend. She also doesn't realize why Kei is in love with her (not that C-ko wants to).
    • Sometimes she has moments of brattiness, mainly when she's bored, or if she thinks anything's diverting A-ko's attention away from her. She's prone to throwing full-blown tantrums if she doesn't get her way and will even run away crying.

Main Series

Alpha Cygnans (spoilers)

    General
A race of aliens who invade Graviton in the first film. They become acquainted with the humans and make peace with them in subsequent films.
  • Amazon Brigade: They're an all-female fighting force of elite pilots and combat troops, who smashed through Earth's defenses and appeared to be unstoppable. Unfortunately for them, they made the mistake of getting caught in the middle of A-ko and B-ko's fighting.
  • Human Aliens: They look indistinguishable from humans.
  • One-Gender Race: The Alpha Cygnans are an interesting variation of this trope: they are all female, but some of them—notably D and Captain Napolipolita—look, talk, and act male. Looking carefully during the film reveals that they are female, though.
  • Walking Spoiler: Due to the reveal that they are all women and that C-ko is one of them.

    Captain Napolipolita

Voiced by: Shūichi Ikeda (Japanese), Jay Benedict (English, movie), Scott McNeil (English, OVAs)

A captain of her own battleship, which was destroyed in her attempt to capture C-ko and bring her home with them. Since then, she's reduced to acting as hostess and fashions her ship into an interstellar resort to earn the money she needs to repair it.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/captainn_1.jpg
  • Big Bad: Of the last third of the original film, as she invades Earth and kidnaps C-ko to take her back home against her will.
  • The Captain: When we first see her, she's composed and uses sound judgment, giving the ideal impression of a ship's captain. As long as she has booze, that is....
  • Characterization Marches On: By the time of Plot of the Daitokuji Financial Group, she appears to be over her drinking problem and spends the rest of the series sober. However, in FINAL she goes back to drinking and being kicked out of bars, which causes her to miss her chance to return home due to stopping on the way for a drink.
  • Cool Shades: She's only seen without them once when one side of her shades briefly slips partway down the bridge of her nose.
  • Ex-Big Bad: She was the antagonist of the last third of the original film, attempting to kidnap C-ko and bring her back to their planet. In the subsequent films, after her ship is destroyed and she gets stuck on Earth with her crew, she becomes more of a friend to the trio, and while she tries to get C-ko to return, her attempts never last long.
  • Expy: Of Captain Harlock. They have a strong physical resemblance.
  • A Glass of Chianti: Captain Napolipolita often has a classy glass of wine in the hand, especially in the first film when she is longing in her chair. Though the aura gets subverted when it's revealed she is actually not evil, just extreme in trying to find her princess, and a pathetic alcoholic.
  • Hollywood Tone-Deaf: Her singing is painfully bad to hear, as demonstrated by the guests of a dinner party on Earth in Cinderella Rhapsody.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: Said almost verbatim twice:
'Captain Napolipolita: (clutching chest)'' "AHHH! Quick, over there!"
    A-ko: (surprised) "W-why?? What's wrong?"
Captain Napolipolita: "...on the counter... gotta have a drink!"
    • The second she says it, is during a full-blown meltdown while wielding a Gatling gun!
Captain Napolipolita: (hysterical laugh) "Ahahaha! Take that you dirty rats!"
(stops firing and clutches both sides of her head)
Captain Napolipolita:' "AAAHH!! I GOTTA HAVE A DRIIIIIII~IINNK!!"
  • Lady Drunk: She steadily loses her composure as her supply of liquor begins to run out. By the time A-ko confronts her on the ship's bridge, she's already showing signs of withdrawal.
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: In the original film, she can almost pass for a Bishōnen male, as long as she's wearing her shades. The other films make her look less attractive.
  • Expy: Of Captain Harlock, as Napolipolita wears nearly the exact same outfit, right down to the color scheme, which is as far as the similarity goes.
  • Samus Is a Girl: For most of the film, she appears to be a guy, especially considering her manly voice and body-obscuring outfit. She is revealed as a woman along with the rest of her race.
  • Sinister Shades: Her blue pointed shades that she wears in the first film initially mark her as an antagonist. Though they stop being this after her Heelface Turn.
  • There's No Place Like Home: After wandering deep space for 16 years straight on a mission to rescue a princess, Napolipolita's only wish was to return home. Her severe homesickness has likely contributed to her addiction to alcohol.

    Agent "D"/Operative DC138621-S113

Voiced by: Tesshō Genda (Japanese), Marc Smith (English, movie), Robert O. Smith (English, OVAs)

Though never officially stated, she's presumably either Captain Napolipolita's second-in-command or her most trusted subordinate. In the original film, she's assigned with gathering intel on their lost princess' whereabouts but gets thwarted by A-ko and B-ko. From then on, she and Napolipolita try to come up with ways to convince C-ko to change her mind. It never works.
  • Battle Bikini: A straighter example than the Akagiyama-23, since D's combat attire is a lightly-armored breastplate and a thong. But the gloves and boots are plain leather.
  • BFS: D's height and muscle mass make it appear to be a normal sword. Its actual size doesn't become apparent until A-ko disarms her, revealing the blade is almost twice her body length.
  • Cool Shades: Worn as part of her 'spy' look in the first film. She ditches them for the remainder of the series.
  • Gonk: Picture a giant musclebound man, with big puffy lips, wearing makeup. That's D in a nutshell, except she's a woman.
  • The Heavy: She's their field agent, and she was the one who fought A-ko when she infiltrated their ship.
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: She and Napolipolita both look and sound like men in drag, whereas all the other Alpha Cygnans look and sound like normal females.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: While D's size and combat prowess are impressive by normal human standards, she's aware that she pales in comparison to A-ko and B-ko.
  • Samus Is a Girl: In the first film, D appears to be a big, muscly man, and is referred to by the others with male pronouns. That is, until we see her in a Battle Bikini, and it is not pretty.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: D spends most of the first film wearing three-piece detective garb and shades. But it's hilariously subverted, once A-ko finally realizes D and the rest of the Alpha Cygnans are all women.
  • Unsettling Gender-Reveal: It finally dawns on A-ko when she lands in the ship's laundry room and sees it's filled with nothing but women's undergarments.

    Lepton Queen

Voiced by: Sumi Shimamoto (Japanese), Janyse Jaud (English)

The queen of the Lepton Kingdom and C-ko's mother.
  • Hero Antagonist: She shows up to take C-ko back home. While this makes her an antagonist to A-ko and B-ko, who want C-ko to stay, the queen is reasonable and does not do anything to harm them.
  • The High Queen: From what little we see of her, she is a benevolent queen.
  • Like Mother, Like Daughter: She seems to be a cheerful ditz who likes to play, just like her daughter.
  • Minor Major Character: Despite being the queen of the Lepton kingdom and C-ko's mother, she only shows up at the very end of Final to bring C-ko back home and has maybe a minute or two of screentime.

Humans

    Miss Ayumi

Voiced by: Asami Mukaidono (Japanese), Liza Ross (English, movie), Lynda Boyd (English, OVAs)

A teacher at Graviton High School who has the trio in her class. She is kind, but has little patience for the trio's antics.
  • Hot Teacher: She is an attractive and busty woman, something that A-ko and C-ko notice when seeing her in her swimsuit in the pool.
  • Old Maid: She spends the first part of FINAL thinking about marriage and if she's getting too old, which leads her to seek out an Arranged Marriage.
  • Tormented Teacher: Ayumi-sensei has it rough. The school is frequently being demolished by the spat between A-ko and B-ko. What's more, B-ko, a Teen Genius, and with the money to back it up by actually building the machines she can dream up, frequently makes backhanded remarks about Ayumi not keeping the class busy enough. And on top of all that, the final movie reveals that she's worried about becoming an Old Maid and is trying to hold an Arranged Marriage with Kei to avoid that fate, only to learn that Kei is the object of lust to A-ko and B-ko, and that Kei is obsessed with the childish C-ko. Her marriage is crashed by A-ko and B-ko trying to steal Kei, and by C-ko's alien family showing up to collect her. Poor, poor Ayumi-sensei.

    Ume, Asa, Ine, and Mari

Voiced by: (Japanese) Akari Hibino (Asa), Yoshino Takamori (Ine), Megumi Hayashibara (Ume), Daisuke Gōri and Sayuri Ikemoto (Mari)

Voiced by: (English) Toni Barry (Asa, movie), Lynda Boyd (Asa, OVAs), Anne Marie Zola (Ine, movie), Venus Terzo (Ine, OVAs), Liza Ross (Ume, movie), Cathy Weseluck (Ume, OVAs), Marc Smith and Anne Marie Zola (Mari, movie), Scott McNeil (Mari, OVAs),

B-ko's posse. Ume is a short and chubby girl with glasses, Ine is skinny and buck-toothed, Mari is massive, muscled, and tanned, and Asa looks generic compared to the others.
  • Geek Physiques: Ume and Ine are chubby and skinny nerd girls, respectively.
  • Girl Posse: Asa, Ine, Ume, and Mari are B-ko's personal mook squad and are implied to be her only friends. Her opening fight in Final, however, shows that they laugh at her behind her back whenever A-ko has the upper hand.
  • Gonk: Asa is the only one of B-ko's flunkies that can be considered attractive. Ume is short and pudgy with Nerd Glasses, while Ine is lanky and has bucked teeth. Mari looks like a muscle-bound man wearing lipstick. (In Mari's case, this is because she is an undisguised Expy of Kenshiro).
  • Huge Schoolgirl: Mari is basically Kenshiro in a sailor fuku.
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: Mari looks like a muscled man in a fuku.
  • Nerd Glasses: Ume has these along with a chubby body.
  • Quirky Miniboss Squad: They work directly under B-ko and fight A-ko at various points in the first film. They are also very quirky, with two being geeky Gonks and one being a female Expy of Kenshiro. They never pose any real threat to A-ko, unlike their boss.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Mari, the beefy muscled schoolgirl, fluctuates from having a deep manly voice that you'd expect for such a character to the voice of an ordinary cute schoolgirl.
  • With Friends Like These...: Despite supposedly being B-ko's friends, they laugh at her behind her back when A-ko starts beating her in Final.

    Hikaru Daitokuji

Voiced by: Hōchū Ōtsuka (Japanese), Ian James Corlett (English)

B-ko's fabulously wealthy and eccentric father. Also the head of the Daitokuji Financial Conglomerate. While he shares his daughter's mechanical genius, he lacks her enhanced strength and resilience. Were it not for his oddball antics, he'd almost be "normal".
  • Big Bad: Of Plot of the Daitokuji Financial Group, which is driven by his titular plot to seize Captain Napolipolita's crashed ship from her, preventing her from getting home, so he can use its technology to get rich.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: With his daughter B-ko in FINAL, in which, he supervises the preparations for Kei's Arranged Marriage with Miss Ayumi.
  • Bishie Sparkle: It quickly becomes apparent where B-ko gets it from, as his also includes sparkles and rose petals the same as his daughter's.
  • Butt-Monkey:
    • To A-ko and B-ko, whose constant fighting almost always results in the destruction of the mecha he designs for the city's defense force. Which, in turn, costs him millions in setbacks.
    • Shifts into full-blown Iron Butt-Monkey status at the conclusion of the second film, when he uses a copy of Akagiyama 23 to try to support the weight of Napolitalita's battleship. A feat which even A-ko found impossible. Since he lacks her superstrength, it ends as well as you'd expect.
  • Expy: Goofiness aside, he looks so much like Tony Stark that it's hard to believe the animation company wasn't sued.
  • It Runs in the Family: He and B-ko are both mechanical geniuses, capable of literally conceptualizing mech designs overnight (though B-ko appears to be better at it). They're also batshit insane, which mainly shows when they're agitated.
  • The Matchmaker: In Final, he explains that he has no personal interest in Kei's betrothal to Ms. Ayumi and says he's simply acting as their go-between on behalf of Kei's parents.
  • Mood-Swinger: He can switch from reasonable and insightful one moment, to completely comical the next, depending on the scene and who he's interacting with.
  • Muggle: As previously noted, Mr. Daitokuji doesn't have the same physical capability as his daughter. Which is why he has to rely on the defense force to get things done.
  • Returning Big Bad: After sitting out for the third film, he returns in the fourth film. This time, as the main antagonist to his own daughter by personally overseeing Kei's forced wedding arrangements with Ms. Ayumi, in hopes that their union will finally put an end to B-ko's escalating feud with A-ko.
  • Shipper on Deck: Downplayed, as he has no real stake in whether Ms. Ayumi successfully marries Kei. He's simply acting as their go-between on behalf of both their families. Though he hopes it will give his daughter and A-ko one less thing to fight over.
  • The Team Benefactor: To Graviton City's defense force. He bankrolls their division and supplies them with advanced aircraft and mecha, in exchange for their services in trying to stop his daughter and A-ko from demolishing the city during their fights.
  • Wacky Parent, Serious Child: Between the two of them, B-ko is the more reserved level-headed one (in comparison, anyway, as she has her own quirks), whereas her father is mainly portrayed as an oddball.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: In Final, he spends the movie overseeing the arrangements for Kei's marriage to Ms. Ayumi, forcing Kei into a marriage he does not want (he loves C-ko instead), so that his daughter can stop having her destructive fights with A-ko over Kei.

    Kei Yuki

Voiced by: Tesshō Genda (Japanese), Scott McNeil (English)

One of the few recurring male characters in the series, who's first introduced in Cinderella Rhapsody. Not much is known about him, other than he apparently comes from a prestigious familynote  and is of marriageable age. He quickly becomes the object of A-ko's, B-ko's, and Ms. Ayumi's affections, but the one he wants is C-ko.
  • Arranged Marriage: Used as one of the main plot points in Final, which has Kei's parents arranging a marriage between him and Ms. Ayumi - with Mr. Daitokuji acting as their go-between.
  • Bishie Sparkle: Moreso then B-ko. The scene where he first removes his bike helmet is accompanied by sparkles, a flowery background, and soft music.
  • Chick Magnet: He's such a dreamboat, that A-ko and Ms. Ayumi both fell for him immediately. B-ko initially struggles with her feelings for him before finally giving in, and Mari has the hots for him too.
  • Covert Pervert: In Final, when Mr. Daitokuji asks Kei what his favorite movie is, he turns beet red in mortification and admits it's Deep Throat.
  • Crash-Into Hello: Narrowly avoided, when C-ko runs out into the middle of the street, directly in the path of his motorcycle. Kei swerves and hits the brakes at the last moment.
  • Dogged Nice Guy: Kei has never wronged C-ko in any way and is shown to be well-mannered. She hates him simply because he unintentionally diverts A-ko's attention away from her.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: Practically every girl who sees him falls for his looks immediately, except for C-ko.
  • Hopeless Suitor: To C-ko. Both times that he confesses his feelings for her, she bluntly replies that she hates him.
  • I Love You Because I Can't Control You: Part of what gets B-ko's motor running for him is how he walks right by her without acknowledging her.
  • Love at First Sight:
    • It's the immediate effect he had on A-ko and Ms. Ayumi, who was more than willing to marry him, despite Kei being younger than her.
    • Kei suffers the same effect himself after he narrowly avoids running C-ko over on his motorcycle- he falls hard for C-ko from the moment he sees her. C-ko flat-out hates him for taking A-ko's attention away from her.
  • Oblivious to Love: He utterly fails to recognize A-ko and B-ko's feelings for him, no matter how much they blush or attempt to flirt. The only reason Ms. Ayumi did any better was because his parents tried to wed him to her.
  • Parodied Trope: It's possible that he was meant to parody satellite love interests and Chick Magnet type characters, given all three women instantly fall for him for his looks alone. Though he wound up being a Parody Failure, due to A-ko/B-ko shippers' dislike of his character.
  • Satellite Character: He's a devastatingly handsome young man about whom we learn little save that he loves C-ko. Oh, and watches porn. Both A-ko and B-ko project very different personalities upon him.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: At all times. In Cinderella Rhapsody he wears a black leather jacket and jeans. During the marriage meeting in Final, he's dressed in a formal black and grey tuxedo with coattails, and switches to a white one for the ceremony itself.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: From the moment he meets her, he's C-ko-sexual.

Uncivil Wars/The VS Characters

Allies

    Mr. Kotobuki

Voiced by: Osamu Saka (Japanese), Terry Klassen (English)

The president of the Kotobuki Conglomerate.
  • Big Good: He is the head of the powerful Kotobuki Conglomerate and uses his wealth to hire A-ko and B-ko to find his daughter, later sending his own private fleet to help them out and stepping into a mecha himself.
  • Papa Wolf: He eventually sends his private fleet to rescue his daughter C-ko and even goes as far as jumping in a mecha himself to personally lead the attack on her kidnappers. He only manages to bankrupt his company with his massive—and fruitless—search-and-rescue effort.

    Maruten

Voiced by: Masami Kikuchi (Japanese), Richard Newman (English)

A tiny alien and member of the Galactic Police.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: Downplayed in that he did contribute greatly to saving the universe from Xena and her cult, and it's doubtful that A-ko and B-ko could have won without his help, but he still tells everyone that he singlehandedly saved the universe, without even mentioning A-ko and B-ko.
  • Fun Size: He's so tiny that he resembles the typical Magical Girl mascot.
  • Glory Hound: The VS ends with him taking all the credit for stopping Xena and the Dragon God, with no mention of A-ko or B-ko whatsoever. The girls decide to track him down just before the credits roll.
  • Meaningful Name: Maruten literally means "ball head" in Japanese; his cranium is approximately the size and color of a tennis ball.
  • Mentor Mascot: Is somewhat of a parody of one, being perverted and bumbling, but he does explain the plot and tags with the heroines to defeat Xena and her cult.
  • Mr. Exposition: He is the one who explains the cult and the circumstances surrounding the plot, why C-ko was kidnapped, who Xena and Gail are, and such.
  • Revenge: His reason for helping A-ko and B-ko is not just to stop the cult from destroying existence, but also to avenge his fallen comrades who were killed fighting the cult.

Space Pirate Cult

    General
An unnamed cult of space pirates that desires the destruction of all universes so a new, pure one can be created.
  • Apocalypse Cult: A doomsday cult that believes in cleansing the universe by destroying it. They worship their founder, Lady Xena, and the Dragon God, a powerful dragon that Xena desires to control, though they also believe in God and claim that their destruction is God's judgement of the "degenerate" universes.
  • Light Is Not Good: The cult has very church-like aspects, and its members dress in white and gold colors, all worshipping the golden Dragon God. They are also an Omnicidal Maniac cult obsessed with creating a "pure" universe by destroying the "degenerate" ones.
  • No Name Given: The cult is never given any official name- everyone just calls them the "space pirates".
  • Omnicidal Maniac: They desire to bring about the end of all "degenerate" universes so a "pure" universe may be born in its place.
  • Path of Inspiration: Xena created the cult so she could have them seek out a young body for her to possess and aid her in her Omnicidal Maniac agenda. She did this while telling them that they would create a "pure" universe in the name of God when she has every intention of usurping God.
  • Space Pirates: They are called this, though kidnapping C-ko is the only pirate-like thing they do, and its not for ransom but to have their leader possess her body.
  • Viler New Villain: In contrast to the villains of the main series, who were all comical and caused harm as a result of misunderstandings or incompetence, the space pirates are an Apocalypse Cult seeking the destruction of all existence so their leader, Lady Xena, may remake everything in her own image. And while the mooks are stupid, the leaders are played seriously, with Xena in particular being a depraved, Ax-Crazy maniac and Godhood Seeker who blows up fleets, planets, and an entire galaxy onscreen while reveling in their deaths.
  • Vile Villain, Laughable Lackey: While the leaders are serious threats, the Mooks that A-ko and B-ko encounter in their base are bumbling morons who are treated as a joke. Also somewhat inverted with the leadership, as Lady Xena gets moments of comedy, but Gail gets none save for being a Straight Man to her.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: With the exception of their leader, they genuinely believe that the current universes are too corrupt to exist and that destroying them will allow for a perfect new one to be made. Furthermore, the cult teaches that the people they kill will still remain in the form of souls and can be saved, reincarnated in the new world.

    Lady Xena

Voiced by: Michie Tomizawa (Japanese), Cathy Weseluck (English)

An ancient sorceress and the founder of the cult. She mastered dark magic and gained control of a powerful entity known as the Dragon God, but was too old to properly control it. She was killed by the Galactic Police in the past, but her spirit lingers, directing her followers to find her a body youthful enough that she may summon the Dragon God and have full power over it.
  • Ax-Crazy: She really loves killing people and destroying planets. Not only doe she launch her destruction of several planets and a whole galaxy with a Slasher Smile, but she later goes to sleep and mutters "everyone will die" while smiling and giggling.
  • Bad Boss: After being revived by Gail in C-ko's body, one of the first things she and Gail do is abandon Grash, Liza, and their other followers to die in an explosion with no care whatsoever for them.
  • Big Bad: Of Uncivil Wars/The VS, as the founder of the space pirate cult who seeks a body to control the Dragon God and destroy the multiverse with it. She has C-ko kidnapped for this purpose, setting off the mission to rescue her.
  • Bigotry Exception: For He-Man Woman Hater Gail, as she is the only woman that he trusts and follows. Ironically, she's also the one woman he really shouldn't be trusting, as she sees him as a pawn.
  • Deader than Dead: A-ko slices her spirit in half, destroying it.
  • Demonic Possession: Desires to possess a youthful body so she can master the Dragon God, and possesses C-ko for this purpose.
  • Evil Old Folks: She is an elderly Evil Sorceress and Omnicidal Maniac cult leader. While she doesn't look aged while possessing C-ko, when her spirit is forced out of C-ko's body, it very much looks like the ghost of a screaming old woman. She also sounds like an old lady, even while possessing C-ko.
  • Evil Sorceress: She spent her entire life mastering magic to summon and control the Dragon God so she could use it to destroy the universe. Once she possesses C-ko and regains control, she performs great feats with her magic.
  • Godhood Seeker: She wants to become the supreme god of all, even wanting to usurp God, and wants to destroy the multiverse to make this happen.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Her spirit dies after being slashed in half by A-ko.
  • In Their Own Image: She intends to destroy all the "degenerate" universes and replace them with one that is "pure", i.e. ruled by her.
  • Laughably Evil: She gets some scenes of comedy, mainly the ones where she throws childish tantrums because Gail doesn't want to let her destroy planets (he would rather they stick to their plan to head to the Talho Sector), and when A-ko and B-ko start arguing with each other in the middle of the final battle, she stands there with an amusing look of "are you serious" on her face.
  • Light Is Not Good: While possessing C-ko, she wears a robe with white shoulders and a gold emblem, and uses light magic. She is also a Godhood Seeker who wants to use her magic to destroy all worlds and make a perfect new one to rule.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: She created a cult and told her followers that she wants to destroy all universes because they are full of suffering and corruption, and by doing so, they may create a pure universe where everyone's souls can reincarnate and live in harmony. They all believe it, except not only does she take clear pleasure in mass-murder when she does finally start blowing up planets and fleets, and abandon most of her followers to die near the end, but she reveals to A-ko and B-ko in the final battle that her real motive is to become the supreme god of her new universe, meaning all her good intentions were lies.
  • Psychopathic Womanchild: While indicated to be due to C-ko's influence, she blows up whole planets and a galaxy... then when Gail tells her to head to the Talho sector immediately so they can hurry up and destroy all existence, she whines and says she wants to destroy more planets and stars and savor her victims' suffering in a manner akin to a child who wants to keep playing in the park when their parents want to go home.
  • Slasher Smile: Has a wide smile whenever she is destroying a planet or thinking about destroying planets.
  • Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: She stands in sharp contrast to the villains of the film series; whereas they were comedic and all had redeeming qualities, only causing destruction through incompetence, Xena is an Ax-Crazy cult leader who wants to destroy all existence, and while she does get a few comedic scenes, she also blows up two fleets, several planets, and a galaxy onscreen, and her threat is played seriously.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Once C-ko forces her out of her body, she starts screaming in agony and telling A-ko "It hurts... please help...".
  • Villains Want Mercy: After all her atrocities, when C-ko forces her out of her body, she starts begging A-ko for mercy. Too bad for her, A-ko has had enough of her and destroys her spirit.

    Gail

Voiced by: Show Hayami (Japanese, adult), Minami Takayama (Japanese, child), Paul Dobson (English)

A medium who took over the cult after Xena's passing, though he is loyal to her and wants to find a vessel for her to use.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: In the end, B-ko, who has been courting him and trying to turn him good, is forced to shoot him to stop him from hurting A-ko. She is in tears as she does this, and he brings up his hand to embrace her one last time before falling dead.
  • Bad Boss: The first thing he and his master Xena do after her revival is abandon Grash, Liza, and their other followers to die in an explosion with no care whatsoever for them (though Gail at least seems confident that they will be reincarnated in the new universe).
  • Bigot with a Crush: He has a big distrust of women ever since his nun mentor betrayed him by breaking her chastity vow, yet falls for B-ko, one of the women who are trying to take him down. Ironically, it is suggested he fell for her because of her resemblance to the nun.
  • Dating Catwoman: He falls for B-ko, one of the bounty hunters who are trying to bring him and his organization down. The feeling becomes mutual. Unfortunately, it doesn't last as B-ko is forced to shoot him to defend A-ko.
  • The Dragon: He is Xena's most trusted follower and the one who physically leads the cult in her death, helping her seek a body and following her orders once she is revived.
  • Dragon Ascendant: Subverted; he is said to have become the new leader of the space pirates upon Xena's death, but he is still following orders from her spirit.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He falls in love with B-ko and genuinely grows to care for her, despite his distrust for all women. She is forced to kill him eventually, but he still reaches out to her and embraces her one last time.
  • The Fundamentalist: He is a religious fanatic raised in a cult who believes that he and Lady Xena must destroy the corrupt universes and make room for a new, better one in the name of God.
  • He-Man Woman Hater: After he caught his nun mentor violating her chastity vow, he killed her and then decided to never trust a woman other than Xena again. He falls for B-ko despite that, but when she is ultimately forced to turn on him and kill him, he says that he "never should have trusted a woman".
  • Knight Templar: He fully believes that the destruction of the universe is a righteous thing because it is corrupt and full of wars and suffering. Even falling in love with B-ko, who wants him to stop, only serves as a temporary distracion, as he chooses his mission over her.
  • Light Is Not Good: He has white hair and wears a white robe, as well as having white and gold in his outfit. He is also The Dragon to Xena and fully on board with her plan to reset the multiverse.
  • Noble Top Enforcer: Despite his misogyny, he actually comes across as more reasonable than his Ax-Crazy boss, because he actually believes in his mission to create a utopian universe and treats his prisoners at least somewhat decently.
  • Straight Man: To Psychopathic Womanchild Xena during her comedic scenes. He is the one who calmly reminds her of their need to head to the Talho sector so they can complete their mission to destroy the multiverse and make a perfect new one, to which Xena response by comically whining like a little child.
  • Tyke-Bomb: He was raised by Xena's cult to aid them in their mission of omnicide, and becomes their new acting leader after Xena dies.
  • Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: Gail stands in contrast to the villains of the film series, who were primarily comedic and caused destruction through incompetence, as he wants to destroy the universe to create a "pure" new one, and has no real comedic scenes; the closest he gets is playing the Straight Man to Xena during her bratty tempter tantrums.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Gail has white hair and a callous disregard for the trillions that will die when he and Xena carry out their plan to create a universe by wiping out the current one with the Dragon God.

    Grash

Voiced by: Hiroshi Takemura (Japanese), Ted Cole (English)

A high-ranking member of the space pirates. He and his partner Liza are the ones who kidnapped C-ko. He is much more calm and collected than his partner, preferring to focus on the mission.
  • Badass Normal: He lacks the magic powers of Xena and Gail, and is not superhumanly strong like Liza, but is still one of the space pirate leaders and carries out their plans.
  • Co-Dragons: With Liza to Gail, as they lead the space pirate Mooks and are Gail's main minions.
  • Disney Death: He appears to have died in the explosion, prompting a heartbroken Liza to seek revenge on A-ko and B-ko... until he pops out of the ground, alive.
  • Oblivious to Love: Downplayed; Liza is not outspoken about her feelings, but when she believed that A-ko and B-ko were responsible for the death of "her Grash", she was overcome with rage. As soon as she saw he was still alive, she broke down in tears. Except he had no idea why.
  • Outlaw Couple: With Liza. Liza is the muscle and is described by Mr. Kotobuki's assistant as "incredibly violent", which she demonstrates upon meeting A-ko and B-ko. Grash is the more level-headed of the two and seems to be just a Badass Normal toting a rifle and grenades in contrast to Liza's superhuman strength, making them an inversion of Guys Smash, Girls Shoot. The couple aspect is a bit one-sided in that Liza is devoted to Grash, but Grash is Oblivious to Love.
  • Minion Shipping: One-sided on the part of Liza, fellow commander who has a crush on him despite him being Oblivious to Love.

    Liza Chichi

Voiced by: Saeko Shimazu (Japanese), Lynda Boyd (English)

A high-ranking member of the space pirates. She and her partner Grash are the ones who kidnapped C-ko. When A-ko defeats her, Liza becomes obsessed with returning the favor.
  • Amazonian Beauty: Liza towers over A-ko, has a much huskier physique, and is dressed in a combination of leather and spandex to show off her ample cleavage.
  • Avenging the Villain: After the other space pirate leaders are killed, she resurfaces and confronts A-ko and B-ko to kill them and avenge the leaders, especially her beloved Grash. Thankfully, Grash turns out to still be alive, and she promptly drops it.
  • Blood Knight: She is described as "incredibly violent" and is the physically strongest of the space pirate leaders, as well as the one who fights A-ko the most.
  • Co-Dragons: With Grash to Gail, as they lead the space pirate Mooks and are Gail's main minions.
  • Cry into Chest: When Grash shows up after his supposed death, she cries into his chest, happy that he is alright. He has no idea why she is crying.
  • Dragon Their Feet: After Xena is defeated, Liza returns to avenge Grash and prepares to fight A-ko and B-ko to the death, though its defused with Grash's reappearance before she does anything.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Liza is a criminal and little seems to faze her, except for when it comes to her partner, Grash. Just the thought of him being dead (or that A-ko was responsible) made her see red... until she saw he was only buried beneath the rubble.
  • Minion Shipping: One-sided with Grash, fellow commander who she has a crush on even though he is Oblivious to Love.
  • Outlaw Couple: With Grash.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Liza does not hesitate to slap C-ko around when she insults Liza by calling her "Granny".

    The Nun (spoilers)

Voiced by: Hiroko Emori (Japanese)

An unnamed nun who mentored Gail. She was killed by him when he discovered her breaking her vow of chastity.
  • Broken Pedestal: During a flashback to Gail's younger days, he discovered his mentor had broken her vow of chastity. He didn't take it well, to say the least.
  • No Name Given: We never learn her name.
  • Nun Too Holy: While she acts like an appropriately caring nun to Gail, he eventually catches her breaking her chastity vow. This prompts him to kill her.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: She only appears in the backstory, but she is the one who indoctrinated Gail into the cult's teachings, and him catching her breaking her chastity vow further drove him to villainy. In addition, it is suggested that Gail falls for B-ko because of her physical similarity with the nun.

    The Dragon God
The powerful entity that Xena's cult worships. She learned magic to control it, but became too old to properly master it, and wants a youthful body to be able to master it.
  • Expy: Of King Ghidorah, specifically the Showa and Heisei incarnations. A giant, multi-headed golden dragon with the capability to destroy entire planets that is being controlled by aliens for this purpose.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: It has no lines or personality whatsoever, serving more as a tool for Lady Xena to carry out her apocalyptic agenda with.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: The Dragon God is gigantic (it seems to grow at least as large as a planet), has three heads, and has so much power that it wipes out a number of planets and their defensive fleets with little effort.
