    Keta

Keta/Kenneth Royer

Sheridan Village's Fighting-type Gym Leader and Aelita's father.
  • Abusive Parents: He was very cold and aggressive to Aelita later in his life, and she couldn't tell anyone she was his daughter. He did so because after being blackmailed to kill all of Sheridan to save Aelita's life, he couldn't handle life anymore and had his emotions separated from himself, which made them form a separate person.
  • Badass Family: He's related to Amber and Tesla by his brother, Deagan, who was Amber's father. And Aelita and Taelia are/were both skilled trainers in their own right.
  • The Chew Toy: A mysterious woman completely fucked him over, repeatedly screwing with his mind to make him believe things that weren't true. His entire relationship with Taelia was apparently based on said woman manipulating him, to start with. He had to watch his wife die, was mindfucked to believe that she always blamed him for it, and after that was blackmailed into joining Team Xen and sacrificing everyone in Sheridan village so Aelita wouldn't be killed.
  • Emotion Suppression: He did it to himself. You later reverse that - to a degree.
  • Future Badass: He's part of the resistance in the Bad Future.
  • Good Parents: He was initially this to Aelita and Nora. Due to the Trauma Conga Line of his life deciding to screw him over one last time, though, this changes to him becoming cold and somewhat abusive.
  • Hero of Another Story: He’s the main protagonist of the side game Where love lies.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He saves you from Madelis's Shadow Mewtwo at the cost of his life.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He used to be part of Team Xen. He didn't join willingly, though.
  • I Am Not Left-Handed: From what we see of him during Where Love Lies, he wasn't taking you even remotely seriously during your gym match with him. Or during your fight with his Revenant. His main team, seen in the Doomed Timeline, is composed of multiple types and in the mid to high 70s.
  • Kick the Dog: Neved tried to reach out to him and reassure him when he was in Team Xen. In return, Keta flatly told him that Neved wasn't going to save his daughter and that she was as good as dead. Neved vowed to hurt Keta as much as he could afterwards.
  • Meaningful Rename: Renamed himself after joining Team Xen. Ke-Ta is made up of the first two letters of both his and Taelia's names.
  • Not So Stoic: Whenever Aelita's in danger, even his stoic "physical" self can't stay totally calm.
  • Older Than They Look: He's 44 years old, compared to the younger looks of his sprites and images.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: His spirit, appearing in the form of an ethereal butterfly at first, can be challenged once a day in a special encounter with a much stronger team for valuable items from version 13.5 on.
  • Parents as People: He wasn't very good to Aelita during the last part of his life, but he had his reasons. And technically, he wasn't her father.
  • Player Character: He's the protagonist of the "Where Love Lies" side episode.
  • Signature Mon: His Shiny Lucario, who has been by his side since before he arrived in Aevium.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Jesus Christ, where do we start? He was given the ultimatum to kill his wife or watch those he loved die. When he refused, his mother was murdered (maybe before he even got the letter itself), the fire in Gearen was started to kill his friends and their children, and the Wispy Tower was burned down to kill the children of Sheridan Village. His wife and child were murdered, and his mind was fucked with to make him believe that Taelia always blamed him for it. Then, years afterward when he thought he'd come to terms with it, he begins having apparitions of Taelia and Nora blaming him for their deaths. He's told the cure might be fixing things with his brother, but once he does that, his brother dies to save his life. And then not only are the apparitions not cured, he's found by Team Xen, who blackmail him into letting everyone in Sheridan die so Aelita won't be killed. And then he runs into the Red-Haired ??? woman below, who tells him she engineered a lot of his life and was probably responsible for said hallucinations, and after that she gets away scot free due to Time Travel. Is it any wonder the poor bastard had his emotions suppressed after all that?
  • Unfinished Business: Prior to versions 13.5, his ghost won't pass on until you beat him, so you can get his Badge from him after all. Afterward, his badge is left with Aelita instead, and his spirit can be rematched once a day for shards and a black prism.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: He started out as a friendly guy who wanted to help as many people as possible, but time wore him down and turned him into the cold, emotionless Keta (though the Emotion Suppression was the main cause of that). His "specter"/ghost is still friendly, though.

    Texen

Texen Burnett

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/58031c72_36cc_40c8_9c91_fc5c44ea0a3c.png
A student of Axis High University and the replacement Sensei and Gym Leader for Sheridan Village.
  • Berserk Button: Bringing up his famous sister.
  • Hate Sink: He is the epitome of the spoiled frat boy archetype. A jerk, pervert and narcissist, he cares nothing about those who aren’t him. In Version 2, his mugshot was even called “Vs Asshole”.
  • Hidden Depths: Aelita figures out that he accepted the job of Sensei because he was sick of being overshadowed by his sisters.
    • Also, it's stated that Texen's mental strength is far greater than it appears to be, to the point that Aelita had to hit his Berserk Button in order to get an opening.
  • It's All About Me: He throws a shit-fit when things don't go his way, to the point that he punches the Eldest into a river because she politely informed him that the laws of Sheridan Village made him banning you and Aelita impossible unless you did something flat out illegal (and that his hair getting set on fire didn't qualify).
  • Jerkass: He's a straight up asshole.
  • Life of the Party: He throws a lot of parties.
  • Signature Mon: His Infernape.
  • Walking Spoiler: He's not very important, but it's hard to talk about him without spoiling that he replaces the now-dead Keta as Sheridan's Leader.

    Narcissa

Narcissa Altair

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/70dec646_3bb5_4dfa_bbd1_832b6e5629cc.png
Goldenleaf Town's Ghost-type Gym Leader, and the leader of Goldenleaf Town. She is also Celesia Altair’s twin.
  • Amnesiac Hero: She and her younger self cannot remember their childhood- in the latter's case, she got severe headaches whenever she tried. This is due to her having taken pills to forget her sister and the traumatic events associated with her.
  • The Chains of Commanding: Tells Aelita that she may be the leader, but she's not a dictator- she can't just order the town to do something and expect them to do it, so they need to find a way to convince everyone if they want actual change to happen.
  • Color Motifs: Purple.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: One of the sidequests of West Gearen ends with Dufaux switching past Narcissa with present Narcissa.
  • Hidden Depths: At first glance, she looks to be a xenophobe like everyone else in Goldenleaf Town. In truth, she's sick of keeping it up and just wants the town to welcome people again, which is notable because her husband was one of the casualties of the Wispy Tower burning down.
  • Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: And she actually manage too give a beating to Giratina of all things.
  • Meaningful Name: Lampshaded by Mosely, yet subverted when it turns out she's nowhere near as arrogant as she seems, regretting her past mistakes and admitting she can only do so much on her own.
  • Shed the Family Name: At the end of her quest, she renounces the Altair name due to the family’s corrupt dealings and placement of their name and reputation above their children’s well-being.
  • Signature Mon: Storywise, it's her Chandelure, which was a gift from her husband and replaced a Chandelure that previously died and was strong enough to counter Dufaux. Later, said Chandelure was turned into a Dimensional Rift Pokémon without Narcissa's knowledge. In gameplay terms, her strongest Pokémon is a Dusclops.
  • Soul Power: She is the Ghost gym leader, after all.
  • Stable Time Loop: How the quest with her fighting Dufaux alongside you and her younger self ends. Her younger self takes the last dose of a memory-suppressing drug to ensure that the time stream isn't thrown out of whack, so that all the things she's learned about the future will come to pass.
  • This Cannot Be!: Her reaction to finding out that her husband was keeping a really big secret from her: Namely, he had Giratina imprisoned under the Wispy Tower and was trying to use its power to make a new world.
    • Later on, she admits that she had come to realize that he never loved her, when she talks to you and said younger self about what you found in the labs under Wispy Tower.

    Valarie
See her entry under Main party (Rivals and Friends).

    Crawli

Crawli

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/8ae54b12_f666_4442_8d3a_ab176d1b4b0e.png
Kakori Village's Bug-type Gym Leader.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: As the Bug-type Leader.
  • Big Good: As the leader of the Rangers, he's basically the guy in charge of keeping Terajuma Island safe and orderly.
  • Blind Seer: He is technically blind, but using his Bug-type Pokémon he can "see" through their eyes.
  • Hidden Depths: He works for the same organisation as Looker and Anabel.
  • I Owe You My Life: Became a Bug-Type trainer after he nearly died after falling into a crevasse as a child, but Bug Pokémon saved him.
  • Parents as People: His father, Rorim B is...eccentric, to say the least. But he does care for Crawli.
  • Signature Mon: His Araquanid.

    Kreiss

Kreiss

Neverwinter City's actual Ice-type Gym Leader.

    Amber

Amber Von Brandt

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/49d228ad_80d4_45fd_95c3_5b74bb7b5bbf.png
Teila Resort's Fire-type Gym Leader and Tesla's daughter.
  • Bratty Teenage Daughter: To Tesla, who massively spoiled her in the past.
  • The Bus Came Back: Reappears in Grand Dream City as the judge for the tournament of the Festival of Dreams.
  • Cessation of Existence: In the Renegade Route, should you pursue it, then not only do you kill her with the End of Night spell, you completely erase her from existence..
  • Cool Big Sis: She seems to be trying to invoke this dynamic with the player after Tesla offers you a place to stay and she starts cooling down from her Spoiled Brat phase. It's a work in progress.
  • Disappeared Dad: Her dad was the last Dark-type leader, but abandoned his daughter and wife and resigned his post to get away from them. He was intending to make amends, but a lot of stuff happened before he could.
  • Fiery Redhead: A Fire-type user with red hair with quite the temperament.
  • Heroic Lineage: Her mother is a member of the Elite 8. Also, her father was Kenneth's brother, meaning she's Kenneth and Taelia's niece and Aelita's sort-of-cousin. She eventually learns this in Episode 15.
  • Life of the Party: Throws a lot of parties.
  • Lonely at the Top: She straight up admits that she has basically no friends.
  • Persona Non Grata: She was banned from Gearen City as a child after being wrongly blamed for a fire that burned down half the city.
  • Playing with Fire: Well, obviously. It seems to run in the family.
  • Revenge Is Not Justice: A variant: she stops Rhodea from killing Mr Blakeory because Amber thinks that killing him won't really help Rhodea (although she also flat-out admits that she doesn't really care at this point if he lives or dies). And also because it won't let her see Mr Blakeory go to jail for the rest of his life. Once Amber and Thomas say that they'll expose his ties to Team Xen and ensure that he goes to prison, Rhodea agrees to back down.
  • The Scapegoat: For the fire in Gearen. Turns out it not only wasn't an accident, it was intended to kill her mother and their friends to hurt Keta.
  • Signature Mon: Her Magmortar before V13, and afterwards an Aevian Toxtricity (Fire/Poison typing) that she apparently got from her father.
  • Spoiled Brat: Tesla spoiled her a lot when she was young. That's the main reason why she's such a jerk. Thankfully, she mellows out a bit after the events at Valor Mountain, especially if you saved her. When she meets the player in Grand Dream City, she says she's working on becoming less of a brat.
  • Spotting the Thread: She's the one who tells everyone that there is no Dark type gym leader in Grand Dream City's hospital, since the last one was her father, who is missing, and there hasn't been one since.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Venam, after Valor Mountain.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With Venam and Saki.

    Erick

Erick

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/d3a27281_b276_4d06_b194_ca9cbde607f5.png
West Gearen City's Electric-type Gym Leader and Saki's best friend.

    Flora
The main leader of Bladestar, and the Grass-Type Gym Leader of Grand Dream City. See her entry under Bladestar.

    Lavender

Lavender Bloom

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lavender_24.png
Grand Dream City's Psychic-type Gym Leader.
  • A Day in the Limelight: You play as her for part of Chapter 13, when she tries and fails to escape the hospital.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Slapped one of the most powerful people in Grand Dream City for insulting her missing friend.
  • Foreign Exchange Student: She's apparently from Hoenn, specifically Mossdeep City.
  • Go On Without Me: Tells Braixen to run for it when Isha confronts them as they try to escape the Hospital of Hope.
  • I Am Not Left-Handed: Not against you, but her normal team is in the 80s - however, she apparently has a "lower-ranked" team that she uses to fight newer trainers (an Abra is specifically mentioned).
  • Mind over Matter: She's the Psychic gym leader, and has developed a technique with her Alakazam to let her scan the "past" of specific locations.
  • Signature Mon: Her Alakazam.
  • The Unfought: Her asthma puts her out of commission before you can even challenge her, therefore you end up fighting Magenta and Neon in her place.
  • Unresolved Sexual Tension: With Huey - pretty much Everyone Can See It but the two of them.
  • Warm-Up Boss: Not for the player, but she's apparently the first gym leader, for trainers starting on Terrial Island.

    Talon

Talon Atreides

A student at Axis High University and Grand Dream City's Flying-type Gym Leader.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1talon.png
Click here to see Rift Talon

  • Awesome Aussie: Speaks with a thick Australian accent, and is confirmed to be from an unnamed region that's "down undah." He's also one of the toughest trainers in the Aevium league.
  • Bold Explorer: You can first meet him in Terajuma exploring a series of ruins with his best friend Florin and the latter's sister Flora. Given his job as a cartographer, he gets antsy staying in one place and expresses a desire to get out and explore more on the Paragon Route long after.
  • Cessation of Existence: In the Renegade Route, if Florin is alive he ends up becoming a victim of the End of Night spell, which not only kills him, but completely erases him from everyone's memories to the point where even trying to mention his name results in gibberish. If Florin is dead, he mutates into a winged abomination who the player has to defeat, which in the end results in the same conclusion.
  • Eldritch Abomination: If Florin is dead on the Renegade route, he mutates into an avian Rift form so corrupt and deformed its shape and type fluctuate throughout its battle. While it is unknown what Pokémon it is supposed to be, the files say it is a Braviary form
  • Excellent Judge of Character: He's kind but not naive, correctly realizing Flora was up to no good years before she gets caught.
  • Face Death with Dignity: In the Florin is Dead branch of the Renegade Route, once you defeat his Rift Form, he calmly tells you that he knows he has to die, he got to live a good life and even tells you to make sure that the entity that set him up against you pays for doing so in the first place.
  • Madness Mantra: On the Renegade route, he finds himself compelled by a voice to "stop the protagonist". His Rift form's ability is even named "Stop (the player character's name here)".
  • Nice Guy: Talon is a friendly and cheerful explorer who is nothing but kind to the protagonist and those around him. Even on the Renegade Route where he's being driven mad by a voice he describes as God, he's ultimately apologetic about attacking you and faces his death with dignity and optimism.
  • Meaningful Name: Aside from 'Talon' being the claws of birds, 'Atreides' is the name of a noble house from Dune, whose symbol is a red hawk.
  • Olympus Mons: On the Renegade Route he uses a Tornadus to battle you.
  • Poisonous Person: His Rift form's secondary type shifts, but it remains primarily Poison the entire battle.
  • Rooftop Confrontation: You always battle him in his gym atop the Central Building in Grand Dream City, which is so high up it counts as a Sky Field.
  • Signature Mon: Braviary, and to a lesser degree his Mega Butterfree. While it isn't seen nor confirmed, his Braviary mutates with him into his Rift form, similar to how Aelita was mutated into a Rift with a Regirock
  • Taken for Granite: He's the first named victim of the stone phenomenon in Grand Dream City.
  • The Unfought: You wind up battling Souta instead. You wind up fighting him much later, during Chapter 0 of the path split.
  • Too Powerful to Live : According to an operative of Gearen Laboratory, he was that strong.

    Adam

    Damien

Damien Rhaela

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/damien_3.png
Sashila Village's Dragon-type Gym Leader. He is Alexandra’s brother.
  • Casting a Shadow: He's a Dragon gym leader, but he claims Dark types are his forte. His team is a mix of both types when you battle alongside him as Alexandra in a flashback.
  • "It" Is Dehumanizing: Constantly refers to Nim as an "it".
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's a genuinely good person despite his grumpiness otherwise. Opting to let a group of runaway Xen grunts stay in the fort they're squatting in against his orders improves your relationship with him, suggesting his pragmatism isn't necessarily what he personally wants.
  • Knight in Sour Armor: He's on the side of good, but tends to act like a jerk. A Sashila help quest reveals that he's actually very aware of how his temper affects things, and is grateful to people like the player and Alexandra for keeping his anger down.
  • Not So Above It All: He has his moments of unrestrained enthusiasm, practically leaping at the chance to train a new Dark type gym leader, and once he makes up with Adam the two become much more laid back around one another.
  • Olympus Mons: His main Pokémon is a Shiny Latios, which he even has the Mega Stone for.
  • Pragmatic Hero: He's got no issues with going straight to the point, or taking the simplest route to fixing a problem - however, his lust for revenge and being a Knight in Sour Armor can sometimes mean that he's prone to taking routes that are questionably moral. Just ask the ex-Team Xen Grunts living in the Ruined City, who you have to convince him to not throw out. And in Chapter 15, Erin notices flat out that a way to make sure Team Xen never gets their hands on the Archetype is to kill her, Melia, Alice, and Allen - he doesn't disagree.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Team Xen killed his parents in the invasion of Alamissa Urben, and he's never forgiven them. He says that he's previously wanted to kill every member of Team Xen in retaliation.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: He wants to kill every last member of Team Xen for what they did to Alamissa Urben.
  • Royal Blood: He is a descendant of Queen Nymiera.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: He's the grumpy, angsty responsible sibling, while Alexandra's the nice, forgiving sibling. He says they work better together because he's often too angry and unforgiving, while she can be too nice, so they balance each other out.
  • Signature Mon: Seems to be his Mega Latios.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With Adam, who noped out after being frustrated by Damien's lust for revenge. They start talking again in Chapter 14 thanks to Alexandra, and have made up by Chapter 15.

    Alice

Alice Theolia

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alice_copy.png
A young girl you first meet in the Unown Dimension, she's later freed by the Puppet Master and sent to Grand Dream City, where after making a (falsified) terrorist threat, she and Allen move into the Penthouse on Hazuki's orders (and under Rhodea's protests). She later becomes the Dark-type Gym Leader.
  • Alice Allusion: Her name and outfit are obviously reminiscent of Alice, not to mention the fact that she spent time in another world.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: In Chapter 14, she seems to have the belief that everything is part of the story she writes, and the people around her are just characters she created. To be fair, she was in the Unown Dimension her entire life before that, where this was actually the case. And also because Vitus told her that nothing she saw was real before he threw her, Allen, and Erin in. She gets better, though.
  • Casting a Shadow: She's the Dark-type Gym Leader as of Episode 15.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: In earlier versions, she and Allen ate a bunch of frozen meals in Rhodea's freezer after they were freed from the Unown Dimension. Without heating them up first. Justified in this case, though, since she was trapped in the Unown Dimension for most of her life beforehand (and too much time with Unown explicitly causes issues with somebody's perception of reality).
    • In Version 13.5, she and Allen make a falsified terrorist threat just to see you after being freed from the Unown Dimension.
  • Continuity Nod: While her backstory is very different, she's a young woman who specializes in the Dark type and is an Alice Allusion, like Luna from Pokémon Reborn, the game that inspired Rejuvenation.
  • The Dog Was the Mastermind: Chapter 14 reveals that she is the one behind 'Team Trappus', which was a diversion meant to distract Allen so he wouldn't leave the Unown Dimension.
  • Females Are More Innocent: Deconstructed. When she tries to attack you in the Eclysia Pyramid, her brother Allen has a better head on his shoulders, and stops her from hurting you - but Alice, due to Indriad telling her that nothing she saw was real, and a life mostly spent in the Unown Dimension, hadn't realized you were real.
  • Master of Illusion: Her power as of Chapter 15.
  • Obliviously Evil: She and Allen make a terrorist threat to see you again, in Grand Dream City - but, well, a lifetime in the Unown Dimension has given them trouble understanding what problems that sort of thing could lead to.
  • Signature Mon: If her interest in obtaining one and her briefly creating one at Eclysia Pyramid is anything to go by, it's Sableye.
  • Twin Switch: You never really see her and Allen together at first in the Unown Dimension. This changes after they are sent out by the Puppet Master.
  • Two Beings, One Body: She and her brother Allen were stuck sharing a body in the Unown Dimension.

    Allen

Allen Theolia

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/allen_copy.png
A young boy you first meet in the Unown Dimension, he's later freed somehow by the Puppet Master and sent to Grand Dream City, where after making a (falsified) terrorist threat, he and Alice move into the Penthouse on Hazuki's orders (and under Rhodea's protests). He later becomes the Fairy-type Gym Leader.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: In earlier versions, he and Alice ate a bunch of frozen meals in Rhodea's freezer after they were freed from the Unown Dimension. Without heating them up first. Justified in this case, though, since he was trapped in the Unown Dimension for most of his life beforehand (and too much time with Unown explicitly causes issues with somebody's perception of reality).
    • In Chapter 13.5, he and Alice first introduce themselves to you in Grand Dream City by making a falsified terrorist threat - just so they could see you, on the orders of the Puppet Master.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: He's the logical, responsible sibling to Alice's less-than-logical approach.
  • Gilded Cage: Points out to Alice that the Unown Dimension was more of a prison than a paradise.
  • Hot-Blooded: He's really angry and aggressive in the Unown Dimension. He cools down later on.
  • Obliviously Evil: He and Alice make a terrorist threat to see you again, in Grand Dream City - but, well, a lifetime in the Unown Dimension has given them trouble understanding what problems that sort of thing could lead to.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: He's the Fairy Gym Leader as of Episode 15.
  • Signature Mon: If his interest in obtaining one and usage of one at the pyramid is anything to go by, it's Alolan Ninetales.
  • Super-Speed: His power as of Chapter 15.
  • Twin Switch: You never really see him and Alice together at first in the Unown Dimension. This changes after they are sent out by the Puppet Master.

    Martin

Martin

The Normal Gym Leader and Kreiss' husband.
  • Non-Elemental: As the Normal Gym Leader.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: He's the owner of Aelita's partner Audino and Kreiss' husband, and thus the reason why his sole known Pokèmon met and traveled with her.
  • The Unfought: See below.
  • The Unseen: His role as Kreiss' spouse and League Status was mentioned a few times but he wasn't named until Chapter 15. He briefly appears via cutscene as of Version 13.5 - but even so, he still has yet to appear in person.

Reserve/Other Leaders

    Marianette
Normal-type Gym Leader of, technically, Gearen City. See her entry under Theolia Family.

    Angie
Kristiline Town's Ice-type "Gym Leader". She's not actually a Gym leader, or even a Reserve leader, but her battle with you is treated as a match with a Leader, and defeating her will lead to Kreiss giving you a badge. See her entry under Theolia Church.

    Spector

Spector

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/d83800a0_a064_43d0_b92e_46f274b8fc4c.png
Aevium's reserve Ghost-type Gym Leader.
  • Creepy Good: Is the Ghost-type reserve leader and enjoys Narcissa's spooky theater aesthetic, but is a perfectly friendly person.
  • Mystical White Hair: As befitting the Ghost-type Leader.
  • Nice Day, Deadly Night: He's a perfectly normal guy during the day. At night... he gets to acting very strange, with the spirits of Goldenleaf evidently influencing his behavior. He even has two different teams he'll use depending on what time of day you challenge him, with the night team being markedly tougher.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Says that Narcissa's Gym has some weird decor, but he really likes it.
  • Punny Name: His name is derived from spectre.
  • Signature Mon: His Mega Banette.
  • Soul Power: As the reserve Ghost-type Leader, naturally.

    Florin

Florin Grevillea

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/d3129d28_1804_4984_8cae_95a9b2d6d9d9.png
An agent that works for Grand Dream City's government, Flora's brother and the reserve Grass-type Leader.
  • For Want Of A Nail: His survival hinges on rather or not he was rendered aggressive enough to attack Flora in Darchlight Cave. If he wasn't, she spares him and allows him to stand by and watch her schemes unfold, as she doesn't see him as a threat. If he does, it's implied he tried stopping her more directly to such a degree that she has him executed.
  • Green Thumb: Like his sister.
  • Meaningful Name: Grevillea is a genus of flowering plants.
  • Mighty Glacier: In contrast to his sister, his team is very attack-oriented.
  • Nice Guy: His sister describes him as kind and innocent. He is also wholly against Bladestar's goals and opposes his sister entirely.
  • Our Angels Are Different: When trapped in the Darchlight Cave, he resembles an angel who can fly around and put other people to sleep, alongside the other powers most humans seem to possess in that state.
  • Power Incontinence: When escaping Darchlight Cave, his soul form can put Bladestar grunts to sleep and avoid battles entirely, though the act stresses and disturbs him. If you ask him to persist anyway, his mental state and temper suffer for it, even once he's back to normal.
  • Rage Breaking Point: If he's told to keep putting the Bladestar grunts to sleep, he becomes much angrier and more aggressive, and winds up snapping and taking out his rage on Flora.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Florin and Flora are very different people.
  • Signature Mon: His shiny Mega Sceptile.
  • Signature Move: Uproot, a move that can lower special defense which he shares with Flora.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Pre V13.5, when he's captured by Flora after the attack on the Grand Dream Ball, he just sadly asks her how long she's been this broken.
  • Unwitting Pawn: He works for Cassandra, who secretly works for Team Xen.

    Souta

Souta

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3796d4d6_a4cd_49ed_ba63_d82a2f7fc15c.png
A spiritual healer, Erin's adoptive grandfather and Aevium's reserve Flying-type Gym Leader.
  • In-Series Nickname: Erin calls him 'old man'.
  • Living on Borrowed Time: Spacea and Tiempa let him live on until he could free Aelita of her curse and give the player the Flying-type badge.
  • The Lost Lenore: He was this to the Eldest. As it turns out, Spacea and Tiempa rescued him, but they didn't meet again until years later.
  • Parental Neglect: Erin says he was never abusive to her, but he was always distant with her. Later, he battles the player knowing that he'll have to depart soon afterwards, but doesn't bother to say goodbye to, leave a message for or get the player to pass a message on to Erin, his adopted granddaughter. She's not amused. 13.5 reveals that he did leave a letter for her, it was just meant to be delivered later.
  • Parents as People: He did care for Erin, but - well, the way he originally died broke Cella's heart, and he was afraid of leaving Erin in the same situation himself, since he was Living on Borrowed Time. As a result, he tried to keep a distance between them, and - well, in the process, he caused Erin plenty of mental issues.
  • Purpose-Driven Immortality: Played with. He says that he died before Storm-9 hit, but was given continued life by Spacea and Tiempa, so that his spiritual and combat skills would remain at their disposal, as they would be needed later to cure Aelita.
  • Rage Against the Heavens: Speaks bitterly about Spacea and Tiempa, calling them horrible.
  • Signature Mon: His Mega Pidgeot.
  • Signature Move: Heavenly Wing, which removes the target’s stat changes.
  • Winged Soul Flies Off at Death: After the player beats him in a battle, he gives him the badge and TM, then suddenly grows golden wings and vanishes in golden light.

    Melia
Melia was originally meant to be the Normal-type Gym Leader, but never got to take up her post. She's later made the Normal-type Reserve Gym Leader. See her entry under Main party (Rivals and Friends).

    Thomas Blakeory Jr

Thomas Blakeory Jr

The rich scion of the Blakeory family, the reserve Steel Gym Leader, and Saki's step-brother.
  • The Bus Came Back: He appears in Chapter 15 as one of the mysterious masked figures who invades the School of Nightmares.
  • Good All Along: He actually want to take down his grandfather for his crimes against humanity, and he apologises for his past behaviour in Chapter 15, mentioning it was a Jerkass Façade the Puppet Master told him to take.
  • Happily Adopted: Downplayed. He was adopted into the Blakeory family. However, he'll be the first to tell you that he doesn't stand to inherit anything, since he's not a blood relation.
  • Jerkass: He's a genuine asshole. He's worse than Texen. Subverted as it was just a façade
  • Pet the Dog: Lets Melia use his account at the Grand Dream City library because he admires people who genuinely want to learn.

Elite 8

    Tesla

Tesla Von Brandt

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tesla2.png
The owner of Teila Resort, Amber's mother and a member of the Elite 8.
  • Armor-Piercing Response: When Amber is whining about how mean Tesla is to her, Tesla snaps that at least Amber has a mother- Tesla never knew either parent and had to survive on her own. This shocks Amber so much she runs off crying.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Saves you from Team Xen's attack on S.S. Oceana.
  • Even the Loving Hero Has Hated Ones: She hasn't seen him in years, but her ex, Deagan, is this to her. After he walked out on her and never returned, she did her best to put him out of her mind, and unlike Amber, is clearly unconcerned that he's alive.
  • Famed In-Story: Both Melia and Madelis are big fans of her.
  • Heartwarming Orphan: A grown up version. She tells Kenneth in Where Love Lies that she wants to own an orphanage because she is an orphan herself, and immediately takes in the player after Team Xen kills their mother.
  • Mysterious Past: She spent years trying to find her origins, which were completely unknown. You can find out from the informant in Sashila Village that Tesla later discovered that her father was from another region, and her mother was from Sashila Village.
  • Nice Girl: Opens her house to you after finding out that Nancy is dead, had a goal to open an orphanage before she became an Elite 8 member (and may still have it).
  • Noodle Incident: There was an undisclosed incident in the past that led to her swearing off alcohol for good, which Taelia was apparently witness to and which Tesla does not wish to ever discuss aloud.
  • The Not-Love Interest: Zigzagged - she was this to Keta in the past, but in the Alternate Bad Future, the two appear to be together, and she had Amber with Keta's brother.
  • Parental Substitute: To the protagonist after finding out their mother died.
  • Playing with Fire: She is a Fire-type trainer like her daughter.
  • Self-Made Woman: She started out as an orphan working jobs to make ends meet, and became the owner of Telia Resort and an Elite 8 member.
  • Video Game Cruelty Punishment: Tesla is unconditionally kind and supportive of the protagonist, offering them a place to stay and and a surrogate mother to support them in light of the loss of theirs, without ever getting upset or short with you the way just about after other central character does at least once or twice. Because of this, the game counts having a negative relationship with her as four times worse than any of the other major characters when tallying up values for the Renegade Route.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With Keta. She became very angry at him after he no-showed her show without any explanation. He was intending to make amends, but it didn't quite work out.

    Karen

Karen

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/karen_67.png
An Elite 8 member who you meet during sidequests related to the Hidden Library.
  • Axe-Crazy: She is batshit nuts. Seriously, look at her picture. Those are not the eyes of a sane person.
    • When her sanity is temporarily restored in the Castle Zygara quest, she becomes a lot more coherent.
  • Cast from Sanity: According to the Knowledge Broker in Sashila Village, her failure to cast an advanced Garufa spell (creating a Crest) twisted her mind.
  • Childhood Friends: Was this to Ryland, Adam, Alexandra and Damien.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Let's just say that some of her logic and doings during 3rd Hidden Library sidequest are... weird. In the Unown Dimension, she turns this up several notches.
  • Deadpan Snarker: When she's sane, she turns into this.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Displays the ability to create stone.
  • Gemstone Assault: All of her known Pokémon have a "gem" theme.
  • How the Mighty Have Fallen: Aside from her instability caused by an incorrect Crest making process, she reflects that Castle Zygara has seen much better days when you get there - roughly 20% of the original structure is left from the original castle.
  • Jerkass: Not only does she snatch the Mega Ring away from you, she also apparently killed Karrina's parents. All just to get to the Hidden Library and its secrets - and the Mega Stones inside. Karrina wonders how someone like her got into the Elite 8.
    • This is a side effect of her insanity, and she is a lot more civil when her sanity is temporarily restored.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: When Karrina sets her up to go to Castle Zygara so that she can get revenge on her, she constantly refuses to do anything more than dodge Karrina's attacks, and asks her constantly if killing her will really fix anything, and that while she did kill her parents, she wasn't in her right mind at the time. And that even if Karrina does kill her, they won't come back - and that she Karrina is the one who has constantly refused to move on from the past for all that time.
  • Mood-Swinger: When you meet her in West Gearen, she swings between happiness to bloodlust to despair in the span of a few seconds, all because she stepped on a bug by accident.
  • My Greatest Failure: Celine rallied Karen, Damien, Alexandra, Adam and Ryland to train hard in order to prevent something, implied to be Team Xen's invasion and destruction of Alamissa Urben. They failed, and Karen was so upset by this that she tried to make a Crest to help her become stronger... Yeah, that didn't work.
  • The Nicknamer: Refers to the player as 'Little Dove', even when her sanity's restored. She also names Karrina 'Little Duck'.
  • Never My Fault: During the Castle Zygara sidequest, she has this attitude toward her murder of Karrina's parents- she wasn't in her right mind and she's already apologised, so why is Karrina still angry? Granted, Jerkass Has a Point when she points out she does have a very genuine Insanity Defense, and that Karrina has been actively pursuing her for years on end.
  • Psychic Powers: She has them.
  • Put on a Bus: In the Paragon timeline, if she wasn't killed in Castle Zygara, you and Melia get her to fall into the Voidal Chasm, and besides the two of you, Alexandra, Damien, and Ryland are the only people who know she's down there, and Alexandra is the only one who wants to get her out in the near future (Damien and Ryland want to wait until Team Xen is dealt with to do so).
  • Royal Blood: Is the descendant of a “forgotten” royal family.
  • Sanity Slippage: Her diary’s final entry describes how she felt her mind slowly breaking after failing to create a Crest.
  • Signature Mon: The first Pokémon she ever caught was a Diancie.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Or rather, they still are - she was Childhood Friends growing up with Alexandra, Damien, Ryland, and Adam. Tragically, her insanity doesn't go away, even around them.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: When you meet her for the first time, she states that she wouldn't do anything to harm a kid. Unless they were a brat.
  • Younger Than They Look: Her sprite makes her look like she's in her mid- to late-thirties, but according to Word of God, she's about 27/28.

    Jolene

Jolene

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jolene_5.png
An "honorary" Elite 8 member, who you meet at the Spring of Preservation, and the owner of Gearen News. She's also Volta's mother.

    Dylan

Dylan Riker

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dylan_copy.png
A man living in the Underground of Grand Dream City, who you first meet there. He strikes up a friendship with you and the android Ana. He is also an Elite 8 member.
  • Abusive Parents: He says his grandfather was this to him. Their relationship ended after Dylan punched him in the eye so hard he went blind.
  • Casting a Shadow: He leaves behind a Deino for you after the Missing Children sidequest, the first stage Gen V pseudolegendary. Given this and Gyarados's potential to Mega Evolve into a Water/Dark type, Dark might be (one of) his type specialties.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Was abused by his grandfather, stole from people, joined gangs, has apparently been on the receiving end of ransom demands before, unintentionally got his girlfriend killed...
  • Informed Ability: Downplayed - he says that Ana, whose only Pokémon is a level 25 Magnemite at the time, has a better chance against you than him (your Pokémon should be around 80 at this point). So he's... got to be absurdly good as a Pokémon trainer, frankly, but you haven't seen him in action yet. When he's later confirmed to be an Elite 8 member, his comment makes more sense.
  • The Lost Lenore: He accidentally got his girlfriend Kailani killed, and he obviously never recovered from it.
  • Making a Splash: His grandfather helped him run a fishing competition, and his only seen Pokémon is a Gyarados.
  • My God, You Are Serious!: Initially, he doesn't believe Ana when she says she got a part in a movie.
Wh-What?! You're serious? But how?
  • Not So Above It All: When he finds out you know Risa Raider, he asks you to "put in a good word for him".
  • Replacement Goldfish: Over the course of the Missing Children quest, as we learn more about him and his past, it becomes evident that Ana is his for Kailani- not in the romantic sense, but in the sense that she's also incredibly naive and happy, wants to see more of the world, and that he wants to protect her as a way of making up for where he went wrong with Kailani.
  • Riches to Rags: An intentional case. He tells the player at one point that in the past, his life was going in a good direction and he was becoming very rich, but he couldn't take it anymore so he gave all his money to charity and moved into the Underground.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: At the end of the Missing Children quest, he leaves a note telling the player that he intends to hunt V down, take Ana back and kill V for what they did.
  • The Runaway: Flashbacks show that he was the royal guard to the original Princess of Kristiline, Kailani. Eventually, the two of them ran off together and lived in the Underground until Kailani was killed by the Dons because Dylan was cheating at gambling.

    Alexandra

Alexandra (April/Krystal) Rhaela

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/krystal_6.png
A woman that the protagonist can first meet during a sidequest in Amethyst Cave, and is properly introduced during the trip to Grand Dream City. She is Nim's metaphorical sister and Damien's actual sister. She's also the senior Elite 8 member.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: After getting fed up with Adam and Damien refusing to try and talk their issues out, she goes full Glowing Eyes of Doom on them and flat-out orders them to start talking to each other again. They quickly comply.
  • Identical Grandson: She looks almost identical to her ancestor, Nymiera.
  • I Have Many Names: She first introduces herself as April in the Amethyst Cave sidequest, then calls herself Krystal during the train ride to Grand Dream City. Damien reveals her real name is Alexandra, which she starts using herself when the player meets her in Sashila Village.
  • One Degree of Separation: Judging by her reaction on the train to Venam wondering where/who the Champion is and what they're doing about all the issues in Aevium, it's possible she either knows who the Champion is, or is the Champion herself. It's later confirmed that with her mother, Celine, currently out of the picture, as the top-ranked Elite Eight member Alexandra is the stand-in Champion.
  • Olympus Mons: She naturally has the counterpart to her brother's Latios, Latias.
  • Psychic Powers: She has a theme around this, and she even managed to stop a train using only her powers.
  • Royal Blood: Her ancestor is Queen Nymiera, and she looks just like her.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Bails out of the train to Grand Dream City the instant she realizes that Damien was following her.
  • Seers: Aside from stopping the train with her Psychic Powers, she also saw the future where it might crash due to the tracks being cut and stopped it from taking place.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: According to Damien, she was this while she had Nim with her.
  • You Are in Command Now: As the senior Elite 8 member, she's technically the stand-in Champion, as the actual Champion is incapacitated.

Management

    Jan

Jan

Co-owner of Gearen City and administrator of the Aevium League.
  • Break Them by Talking: Pulls some very good psychological torture on a Team Xen Death Wing in Adrienn's questline by giving him the illusion of freedom, and then pulling it away and telling him how pathetic he is.
  • Creator Cameo: Of the game's main designer.
  • Expy: Of Ame, since they're both Author Avatars whose sole role in the game is to provide you with advice on how to handle each Gym Leader.
  • Mission Control: He's the one that gives you advice on how to beat each Gym Leader.

    Zumi

Zumi Burnett

Co-owner of Gearen City.
  • Badass Family: Her siblings are Texen and Risa.
  • Creator Cameo: Of one of the game's main artists.
  • Fetch Quest: She sends you on several of these, involving catching rare Pokémon so she can collect their data. Completing them all rewards you with an upgraded Pokédex.

    Amanda (Unmarked Spoilers)

Scout Amanda

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/56fc9a35_2e51_4f38_9a4c_7ae5d4ca4460.png
Jan's sister, and the "Scout" responsible for seeking out new Trainers for the Aevium League.
  • The Bus Came Back: Reappears outside the Grand Dream Ball after stealing Melia's ticket - right as Bladestar blows it up, and telling her "You should have stayed dead".
    • Later on, she reappears for real at the end of Chapter 15, when she's freed from the lab below Axis University, where she was imprisoned since before the game started.
  • Foreshadowing: A lot of it regarding her Robotic Reveal.
    • Jan mentions not seeing her for weeks, and comments on the hat she's wearing, despite saying they're not for her to him at some point.
    • He also mentions her being lazy about her administrative duties, something she normally isn't.
    • An update has her seemingly following the player throughout the region, commenting on their progress, possibly to draw attention back to her and keep her on your mind throughout the playthrough....
  • Hidden Agenda Villain: Both who her doppelganger is working for and what their goals are is unknown. However what is known is that she is neither part of Bladestar nor of Xen, and she is working to reverse Celine’s plan.
    • It's later revealed that Celine is the Champion of the regional League, and that Robot!Amanda is acting on behalf of the Mysterious Figures.
  • Playing with Fire: Uses a lot of Fire-type Pokémon.
  • Signature Mon: Her Hatterene. This is a conscious thematic choice, given her robot doppelganger's Prehensile Hair.
  • Recurring Boss: So far she's fought four times throughout the course of the game, three times as the protagonist and once as Melia, with Madelis as a partner. Right after that she's also fought in a non-conventional battle with Sakitron.
  • Robotic Reveal: The Amanda from the introduction to the game was replaced by a robot, with the intention of disrupting the Aevium league.
  • Walking Spoiler: The actual Amanda has almost no screen time thanks to being impersonated by a robot, something the player doesn't learn until late into the game.

    Celine

Celine Rhaela

The founder and Champion of the Aevium League, and also Damien and Alexandra's mother and the leader of Sashila Village.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Madame X's first attack nearly killed her and wound up destroying several limbs.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: She appear in a flashback during the Goomink quest, being the one who entrusted Kasura Castle to Goomelda's family.
  • Greater-Scope Paragon: She's been trying to protect Aevium, and founded the League to get as many strong Trainers around to fight off Team Xen as possible. Unfortunately, due to Team Xen's attack on Alamissa Urben, she's currently a Sealed Good in a Can who's out of action for the time being.
  • Parents as People: In the Paragon timeline where Karen's dead, Alexandra admits that she has a huge amount of resentment for her mother, because Celine being the champion meant that Alexandra feels like she has to live up to her legacy and Alexandra simply doesn't think she's cut out for that. She also says that the intense training Celine gave her only made her feel afraid, as if her failure would mean the end of everything, and while it might have been true, it was still incredibly unfair.
  • Sealed Good in a Can: She's currently encased in a crystal that's protecting her and healing her injuries; unfortunately, it's doing so very slowly.
