    John Macmillan 

The main protagonist in American Campaign.


    Arthur Powell 
American commander.
  • Bad Boss: He is extremely stubborn, often sending soldiers on suicidal missions or being callous about their lives, while disregarding anyone telling him this might go bad. He eventually comes to his senses as the campaign goes on, talking with Macmillan in private about it.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: After he becomes the American commander during the second half of the campaign initially all the new-gained power goes to his head, but when he finally realises how dire the situation is, he tones down his Jerkass tendencies.

    Joan Fergusson 
American scientist.

Russian Characters

    Yuri Ivanovich Gorky 

The main protagonist in Russian Campaign.


  • Anti-Hero: Especially if he refuses to join Alliance but also during whole Campaign. Notably during attack on Epsilon.
  • Arch-Enemy: With Macmillan in Russian campaign.
  • Colonel Badass: Burlak is a great Commander but also doesn't hesitate participate in fight directly with his tank.
  • The Leader:
  • The Protagonist: Of Russian campaign.
  • Worthy Opponent: If the player joins the Alliance in the American Campaign, Burlak and Macmillan will recognise each other as this.

    David Nikitovich Platonov 
Russian commander and the main antagonist of Original War.
  • Bad Boss: Proves this several times during Russian campaign.
  • Big Bad: Can be viewed as such in both Campaigns. In American campaign player meets him as a commander of Russian forces - main opposing force player has to face. In Russian campaign he is introduced as Burlak's commanding officer but he soon starts to see Burlak as a competition and tries to get rid of him.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He might initially seem sympathetic in Russian campaign.
  • Dirty Communists

Arabian Characters

    Heike Steyer 

She was planned to be the main character of Arabian Campaign.
