Protagonists
Al
- The Alcoholic: Either played straight or averted, he doesn't know whether his drink is soda or alcohol, but he likes it.
- Almighty Janitor: Al is the newest recruit and, by extension, is the lowest rank. He, however, has reality warping powers, telekinesis and (maybe) Wave-Motion Gun's.
- Anti-Hero: While not outright Ax-Crazy or selfish, he does only join a rebellion because Motherboard drove him out of his sleeping spot. That and he genuinely wants Motherboard to redeem herself.
- Back from the Dead: Thanks to Jane, Al was resurrected and didn't have to be Louis' slave.
- Bash Brothers: Al and Terrance started growing into this.
- Berserk Button: While it's replaced with Tranquil Fury than Unstoppable Rage, he hates it when people interrupt his sleep.
- Don't accuse him of being a liar.
- Beware the Silly Ones: Rare heroic example, when cops interrupted his slumber, he promptly disintegrated the leader.
- Big, Stupid Doodoo-Head: To bring Al back to life, one must say this "incantation": "Vince is awesome. Terrance is a stupid poopy butt."
- Brilliant, but Lazy: Granted, the only other people are Ax-Crazy super terrorists and an Ice King recruit. But he was the only one who concocted an actual plan, much to Terrence's dismay.
- Cheshire Cat Grin: See Wham Line below.
- Crazy Homeless People: Averted, he's actually the Only Sane Man.
- Deadpan Snarker: He's extremely smug, to people who he doesn't agree with, at least. Especially towards Terence.
- Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Al does this three times during his encounter with Louis.
- Drowning My Sorrows: He hints that he does this when he tries convincing Jane to give a speech.
- E = MC Hammer: He somehow found a way to make a computer out of miscellaneous scrap metal. This is even lampshaded by Terrance.Terrance: How did you build a computer out of scrap pieces, anyway?
- Expy: Of Sans from Undertale.
- He also shares some traits with Rick from Rick and Morty.
- Humanoid Abomination: Rare benevolent example of this trope, he's from a different universe and he inherently has reality warping powers from said dimension.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: These traits start shining through when the original resistance arrived in Toronto.
- Kid Hero: Hero is pushing it, but he does help out behind the scenes. Also, his age is either 15 or 19.
- Lazy Bum: His defining character trait.
- Manchild: He has the sense of humor of a six year old and the laziness of a teen.
- Mighty Glacier: Aside from having telekinesis, vortexes that can fire large laser beams and teleportation, on his feet he move slowly. Justified, due to him dragging his feet. He's lazy.
- Noodle Incident: Apparently, he's accidentally teleported into prisons before.
- Off Screen Moment Of Awesome: He's apparently bested Louis multiple times.
- Oh, Crap!: Pulls one when he notices Raphael out the window conversing with an officer.
- He pulls this a second time when Raphael shoots him in the back.
- Omniglot: He's able to speak Malay.
- Perpetual Smiler: Save for a few isolated moments, but he seems to have a smug grin or a droopy grin constantly. He even has a more hostile grin.
- Reality Warper: Even though it tires him out, his powers are beyond human comprehension, but he chooses to use powers that just barely confuse people, because the former tires him out even more.
- Rousing Speech: Gives one to the disorganized army of revolutionaries and super humans, inspiring Fear, Strata and Terrence to do the same.
- Sad Clown / Stepford Smiler: It's hinted he has some self-loathing issues when he tries to convince Jane to give a speech.
- Science Hero: Becomes this in the RP's sequel.
- Smug Smiler: When he wants to make Terrance angry (or at least annoyed), that is.
- Smug Super: Towards most of the original resistance. Especially Terrance.Al: ...Your face just says you aren't pleased. -Beat- Or, perhaps you're impressed. Don't feel bad, it's only natural to idolize a cosmic being such as m'self.
- Southern-Fried Genius: The text used for him implies he has a Southern accent (due to his use of "m'self", "y'know" and "ain't"). He also has extensive knowledge on computer science and engineering.
- Stoic Woobie / Jerkass Woobie: Revealed to be this during his flashback sequence.
- Teleportation with Drawbacks: His signature ability. Unfortunately, it wears him out rather quickly.
- Took a Level in Cynic: There are hints around the roleplay that imply he wasn't always a cynical Lazy Bum.
- Took a Level in Idealism: Ever since Terrance redeemed Motherboard.
- Trademark Favorite Drink: He's not quite sure what's in his glass bottles (He thinks it may either be soda or alcohol), but he has a suitcase full of them.
- Trash Talk: Although in an odd way ("I'll slap y'real good, ya?"), it's successful.
- Troll: This to Terrance.
- Troperiffic: He has more tropes than anyone in this roleplay.
- True Neutral: He (almost) has no care in the world. He spends his time sleeping and annoying Terrance.
- Vague Age: It's unknown whether he's fifteen or nineteen.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: Word of God(s) says that Al and Terrance have a mutual respect for each other, they just insult each other often.
- Weaksauce Weakness: For a Humanoid Abomination, bullets kill him just like an average person.
- Wham Line:Al: I know in some timelinenote , one of you will either accidentally or purposefully kill Motherboard. So, I'll give you a tip. -cue Cheshire Cat Grin- Don't.
- We Used to Be Friends: He was once friends with Motherboard (Or rather the scientist who uploaded her sentience and thoughts into Motherboard).
Fear / William Campbell
- Anti-Hero: His only objective was to stick it to the man anyway he can. This includes arson and treason. Mainly treason.
- Aren't You Going to Ravish Me?: Non-sexual example, when Al told Louis Z. Bubb he wouldn't want to eat him and Strata he seemed a bit insulted. Justified, he's a Death Seeker.
- Ax-Crazy: He (much like his friend, Strata) enjoy creating as much chaos as possible.
- Back from the Dead: Al made a deal with Louis to bring him and Strata back. Much to Fear's dismay.
- Berserk Button: Calling him a freak. He prefers monster.
- Chaotic Neutral: He may be Ax-Crazy, but he isn't outright malicious and has several redeeming qualities that stray him away from Chaotic Evil.
- Chaotic Good: (Possibly) Becomes this in the sequel, banishing any Chaotic Evil traits to a prison-like place in his mind.
- Card-Carrying Villain: He openly admits he's a psychopath, a monster and a homicidal maniac.
- Combat Tentacles: These come with his One-Winged Angel form.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Hinted at the fact that his face is mainly consisted of scar tissue.
- Death Seeker: According to Fear, he wanted to die.
- The Dying Walk: He attempts to walk off the bullet wound, only for his lungs to collapse on them.
- Heel–Face Turn: He's grown more sympathetic since the resistance disbanded.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Strata. Formerly.
- The Hyena: He seems to think a lot of things are funny.
- Lightning Bruiser: From what we've seen, he's this (at least in his One-Winged Angel form).
- Manipulative Bastard: This to himself.
- Mutant: He claims he was part of an experiment, which is how he got his powers.
- Nominal Hero: He's only a hero because his goals coincide with taking down Motherboard.
- One-Winged Angel: Apparently, once his Berserk Button is pressed, he turns into a giant composed of black, tar-like ooze and tentacles.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Red to Strata's blue.
- Smug Super: When a person in his group asked what his powers were, he made said person halucinate to show off his abilities.
- Supernatural Fear Inducer: He can create fear to the point where people become his puppets.
- Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: He lost his wife in a laboratory fire. And a bioweapon.
Strata
- Aren't You Going to Ravish Me?: Non-sexual example, when Al told Louis Z. Bubb he wouldn't want to eat him and Fear he seemed a bit insulted.
- Ax-Crazy: He seems to take joy out of slaughtering STF and police officers.
- Back from the Dead: Al made a deal with Louis to bring him and Fear back.
- Chaotic Evil or Neutral Evil: Word of God states Strata would preform genocide and not feel a twinge of guilt.
- Evil Versus Evil: While he is an Omnicidal Maniac who has control over the weather, he actively tries to kill Motherboard, Lieutenant Jackson and recently Raphael.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Fear. Formerly.
- He Who Fights Monsters: He's even more brutal than the STF or police force.
- Kick the Dog: He barely glanced at someone in his group and (for no real reason) electrocuted him.
- Killed Off for Real: Due to him attempting to kill Motherboard and Fear...intervening.
- Major Injury Underreaction: Does this twice. Except he was under-reacting towards a students charred flesh. The second time, when he gets shot in the gut, he mutters "Damn" as he falls over.
- Off Screen Moment Of Awesome: He's, apparently, broken out of a military-grade prison.
- Rape as Backstory: Along side with physical and mental abuse.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Blue to Fears red.
- Villain Protagonist: His only concern was who get's killed and how much fun he has. He even tried justifying almost killing his own teammate.
- Weather Manipulation: He can manipulate the stratosphere, which is probably why his name is "Strata".
- Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: He was "arrested" by the STF at a young age, tortured by them and barely even escaped.
Terrance
- Actually Pretty Funny: As much as he tried to hide it, he can't help but snicker at Al's "incantation".
- Ambiguously Brown: It's stated that he has olive-colored skin.
- Badass Normal: He's the only commanding-ranked human in a rebellion full of super-mutants. That should say a lot about his skill.
- Corpsing: In-Universe example, when Al tells him to speak an "incantation", he actually snickers at it.
- Deadpan Snarker: Terrance is this when he first meets Al. Mainly due to him creating a computer.
- Lawful Neutral: He is far more strict than anyone else, but he genuinely wants to win against Motherboard.
- Manchild: Not to the extent of Al, but he seems to have the mentality of a highschooler (Calling his subordinates "chumps", being smug to Al when they first meet).
- My Friends... and Zoidberg: Bonus points for actually saying "my friends"Terrance: If I'm not around, you tell one of my friends. Or Vince.
- Not So Stoic: It's revealed he has a hard time holding back feelings of joy.
- Shrinking Violet: Shows traits of this when he tries to give a rousing speech like Strata, Fear and Al.
- Token Human: Not just for the rebellion, but the entire cast.
- Let's elaborate: Al is an interdimensional being, Fear is a Mutant that Mind Rape's people, Strata can control lightning and tornado's and Jane can use her tattoo's to impale people. As for the antagonists, Motherboard's a Master Computer, Raphael is an alien who can regenerate many injuries relatively quickly and Louis Z. Bubb is a being of pure energy.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: Word of God(s) says that Al and Terrance have a mutual respect for each other, they just insult each other often.
Jane
- Art Attacker: She can use her tattoo's to impale people. In fact, she can manipulate ink to turn it into weapons.
- Boring, but Practical: She has a pistol she can use to simply shoot someone.
- Chekhov M.I.A.: Without the Chekhov (probably).
- The Fettered: Unlike her colleagues, she doesn't have the stomach to kill people for no reason (or at least, she doesn't have the stomach to Kick the Dog).
- Kick the Dog: Subverted. She was was about to kill one of her teammates, but she didn't and put her deadly tattoo's away.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When she see's Al, Strata and Fear lying on the ground after they've been shot, she goes ballistic due to panic and fear. This starts to shock Terrance.Jane: If any of them die, I’ll have your heads for it!
- Ship Tease: With Terrance.
- Shrinking Violet: It's stated in her bio that she's incredibly shy.
- Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: She is one of the main characters.
- True Neutral: Unlike Al, she's this because she deliberately stays out of most things, due to her being a Shrinking Violet.
Antagonists
Motherboard / Dr. Barbara Phillips
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: She's a sentient, supercomputer with way too much access to machinery whose morals have been corrupted. Of course she's gonna conquer everything.
- Bad Boss: A group of scouts came back with bad news. She told them they could've sent back up and had guards drag them to a gas chamber.
- Evil Only Has to Win Once: And she did. She successfully turned the entire world into a Crapsaccharine World after taking it over.
- Freudian Excuse: Either the U.S. Military deleted her emotions or she did herself.
- Heel–Face Turn: Due to Terrance uploading her morality and feelings into her.
- Neutral Evil: She may make the rules, but she breaks them should they get in her way.
- Orcus On Her Throne: Justified, she's really a computer and can't directly do anything.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Her entire face is red.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: She just wanted to put an end to war.
- Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: Due to her abandonment of her only friend and being locked up in a military base, she deleted her emotions.
Raphael
- Cyclops: A green, triangular one.
- The Dreaded: He's the most feared mercenary in the United States. He even inspires fear in the likes of Al and Strata.
- Expy: Of Yung Venuz from Nuclear Throne.
- Glass Cannon: Sure he and his guns can do tremendous damage, but fire (or any heat) can be his undoing.
- Good Thing You Can Heal: How he was able to get back up from shooting himself (He was brainwashed into doing it).
- Healing Factor: He was able to get up from a gun point blank at his head. (Or...I guess the tip of his body?)
- Hero Killer: He straight shot Al in the back.
- The Hedonist: His desk is made of gold.
- Hired Guns: As stated above, he's a mercenary.
- Knight of Cerebus: He straight up walks in front of an army, kills Al, Strata and Fear (in the most serious way) and walks away, leaving everyone in a state of confusion and panic.
- Earlier on, he burns down the original base after finding clues on where the rebellion may have gone.
- Tyke-Bomb: In his youth, he was raised by a street gang.
- A MacGuffin Full of Money / Money Fetish: What was used to get Raphael involved in the plot.
- Neutral Evil: He will kill anything should it give him a large amount of money.
- Not So Stoic: A happy version of this, but he only shows emotion when he's shown large sums of money.
- Professional Killer: As stated in his "The Unfettered" trope and his "Hired Guns" trope, he's a mercenary.
- Sinister Geometry: He's a triangle.
- The Starscream: When he notices the gang he was raised in soften up, he kills them all.
- Take That!: In-universe example between him and Lieutenant Jackson.Lieutenant Jackson: I have trouble believing a merc such as yourself.Raphael: Yeah? Well you don't have any trouble believing a computer, Jackson. Ya fucking monkey.
- The Unfettered: He's gotta be this if he's a merc.
- Walking Head: He doesn't have a torso, so to speak. He's a green triangle with an eye.
Louis Z. Bubb
- Berserk Button: Going against his deals. It really sets him off.
- Chaotic Evil: He's an Omnicidal Maniac who only lets Strata and Fear live because he was convinced that they were useless.
- Energy Being: He's literally a ball of energy.
- Enemy Within: In the RP, he's tried to manipulate Al at least once through his head.
- Louis Cypher
- Noodle Incident: Him and Al have an unclear history together.
- Satanic Archetype: Aside from the "Louis Cypher" trope, Al calls him "Cheap bootleg Satan".
- Say My Name: (Pre-name change) "VIIINCE!!"
- Villainous Breakdown: Goes through a brief one when Al gets resurrected.
Lieutenant Jackson
- The Dragon: This to Motherboard.
- Evil Versus Evil: Not "going into fight's" version of this, but him and Raphael seem to have a sort of rivalry.
- Insane Admiral / General Ripper / Colonel Kilgore: He works for Motherboard gleefully.
- Lawful Evil: He's Motherboard's right-hand man and seems to be extremely loyal to her.
