The Ocean City Winter Court

     Alexis Hartley
A relatively young Kindred originally thought to be an eleventh-generation Caitiff. When the Washington D.C. chantry discovered that Alexis was, in fact, a member of clan Baali, she swiftly received a "promotion" to Ocean City.
  • Born Lucky: Fortunately for her, she's just as good at getting out of dangerous, wildly absurd situations as she is at getting into them.
  • Cosmic Plaything: She constantly finds herself in the center of wildly dangerous situations, even when she's actively trying not to.
  • Desperately Craves Affection: Her biggest personal flaw is that she equates her own self-worth with the trust and esteem she recieves from others. This drives her to constantly prove herself to her superiors, but also makes her prone to put herself In Harm's Way to make her victories seem more impressive.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: When she was alive, she was an average, mild-mannered kindergarten teacher in Washington D.C. Less than two years later, she's managing an entire defensive front against an Anarch invasion, facing down one of the most infamous Hunters on the continent and living to tell the tale, and eventually leading a small army of werewolves to kill a literal demon, overthrowing two Princedoms and conquering the entire state of Delaware in her Prince's name.
  • Holy Burns Evil: As a Baali, she cannot enter consecrated ground, and is vulnerable to holy symbols even when not wielded by mortals with True Faith. She can't even invoke the name of God, internally or externally, without mildly burning herself.
    • Interestingly, she only burns herself if she invokes the name of god in vain. She doesn't hurt herself if she invokes it for genuinely righteous reasons.
  • I Know What You Fear: Her clan Discipline, Daimonion, lets her read people's deepest sins, secrets, and fears at a glance.
  • In Harm's Way: As noted above, she has a consistent habit of putting her mission/impressing her superiors over her personal safety. This drives Prince Grunholt up the wall.
  • Invisibility: Obfuscate is her first (and basically only) choice in a close combat situation.
  • Manipulative Bitch: She's capable of some fairly ruthless social manipulation to destroy her enemies. She attributes it to her former life as a kindergarten teacher.
  • Naïve Newcomer: Zig-Zagged. She's pretty familiar with the world of Kindred politics after several months serving the Camarilla in Washington D.C., but knows next to nothing about other types of supernatural creatures she has closer contact with outside of urban areas.
  • Nice Girl:
  • Non-Action Girl: She was about as physically threatening as wet tissue paper when she was alive, and the Embrace didn't change that much. She recalls an incident when she was alive where she lost a fight to an american bulldog.
  • Not the Intended Use: Daimonion is primarily used to help Baali push their victims further into sin, but Alexis primarily uses it for spying. She also occasionally ferrets out people's deepest sins and encourages them to atone for them.
  • Secret-Keeper:
  • Super-Senses: She puts at least three dots into Auspex after learning it from Leta.
  • Weirdness Magnet: And how.

     Grunholt Hess
Prince of Ocean City, 6th generation Ventrue and Childe of Hardestadt the Elder himself.

He calls himself 'G-Dog', and always wears swim trunks, flip-flops, and a Hawaiian shirt.

  • Been There, Shaped History: The hurricane that created the Ocean City Inlet was caused by an archmage of the Order of Hermes in an attempt to destroy Grunholt's city. Grunholt responded by Dominating key figures in the Army Corps of Engineers to get them to make the sandbar permanent.
  • Being Good Sucks: He was once one of the most powerful and influential elders of the Camarilla, commanding respect and authority across the entire planet. Then he tried to rally support to fight Pentex. Not only was he turned away everywhere he went, he burned almost all of his political capital in the process, leaving him a shell of his former glory.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's probably the most kindly and easy going Prince in the entire Camarilla. He's still a Prince in the Camarilla, and has the power and ruthlessness to back that up.
  • Big Good:
  • Cement Shoes: His preferred alternative sentence to Final Death, since it theoretically gives the accused Kindred the opportunity to atone (eventually).
  • Friendly Neighborhood Vampire:
  • I Control My Minions Through…: Kindness and material rewards, with a bit of social engineering as needed.
  • I Hate You, Vampire Dad: He did not think highly of his sire, Hardestadt the Elder. He thinks even lower of his "little brother" pretending to be their sire.
  • Good Is Not Soft: For the crime of Diablerie, he sentences the Bloodied Bats coterie (with the exception of Fred) to be encased in cement up to their necks and tossed into the sea for fifty years, then dredged up and banished from his Domain for life.
  • The Good King:
  • Humble Hero: He's one of the oldest and most powerful Kindred in the world; a childe of Hardestadt the Elder himself who predates the Norman Invasion of England. He dresses and acts like a stereotypical surfer bro and rules over Ocean City, Maryland, with his domain not even extending into neighboring Delaware.
    • He later reveals that this wasn't always the case. He once wielded immense power and influence as normal for an elder such as him, but burned all of his political capital in the Camarilla trying (and failing) to fight Pentex.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: He was one and still is.
  • People Puppets: Mastery of Dominate gives him this ability, among others.
  • Seen It All: He's old enough and experienced enough that it takes very little to truly phase him.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: He had a, quote, "prolonged dick-measuring contest" with a Hermetic Archmage named Horatio. He even attended the wizard's funeral on Mercury (via possessing a mortal, who he may or may not have accidentally left behind on Mercury).
  • Troll: He intentionally winds up his brother-masquerading-as-sire Hardestadt the Younger by dressing and acting as trashy and immature as possible during their yearly video calls.

     Selina
A Ravnos in Grunholt's inner circle who satisfies her clan weakness via prodigious fishing trips. She specializes in illusions via her clan-exclusive Discipline, Chimerstry.

     The Axlerods
Thomas Axlerod is a particularly beautiful Toreador, and Annabella Axelrod is a particularly hideous Nosferatu. They are a devoted couple and Grunholt's main enforcers.

     Leta Jenkins
The youngest Kindred in Grunholt's Winter Court before Alexis arrived, and secretly a Tzimisce antitribu posing as a Caitiff. She serves as the Court's head scout.
  • Biomanipulation: Her clan-exclusive Discipline, Vicissitude, lets her mold flesh like clay. She mostly uses it to alter body and facial features (both hers and others) for infiltration purposes.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: She died when Hunters from the Society of Leopold set fire to her family home, and her fellow Kindred were unable to rouse her from daysleep in time.
  • Killed Offscreen:
  • Younger Than They Look: Grunholt reveals that she was only 16 years old when she was Embraced.

    Weaver
An Ananasi infiltrating Prince Grunholt's court. Everyone else in the court knows she's not actually Kindred, but the Prince figured it would be easier to pretend they weren't onto her.

The Ocean City Summer Court.

     Fred
A former thinblood who committed Diablerie to elevate himself to the 14th Generation.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: He keeps a katana on himself at all times, having sewn its sheath onto the inside of his jacket.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: He was horrified to learn that his Diablerie victim was not, as promised, an evil Elder Kindred, but an innocent woman who was abducted, Embraced, tortured, dismembered, and delivered to-order as part of an industrial supply chain.

     Ultra Nero
Formerly known as "Caitiff Alucard" (not to be confused with "Brujah Alucard") before discarding the alias for his current one.

     Julia Rosselini
A Revenant specializing in Necromancy. Possibly a runaway from Clan Giovanni.

Non-Kindred allies

     Three-Beers-Under-The-Table
A Garou from the local sept allied with Prince Grunholt, who eventually becomes Alexis' main point of contact with the local werewolves.

     Detecive Frank Rodriguez
A detective in the OCPD with the inexplicable ability to always see the truth. After seeing through Alexis' Obfuscate after the Society of Leopold tries to burn her house down, Alex claims him as a Ghoul.
  • Constantly Curious: Frank is insatiably curious about all aspects of the supernatural world, and asks loads upon loads of questions after becoming Alexis' ghoul. Alexis realises that actually answering his questions is her best strategy for maintaining his loyalty.
  • Friend on the Force:
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: After digging into Pentex while investigating the unusually large wave of Hunters in Ocean City, Frank gets a clear glimpse of The Wyrm and almost loses his mind. Even recalling what he saw to Alexis nearly makes him break down before his domitor snaps him out of it.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: After recalling his research into Pentex, he actually declines Alexis' offer to answer more questions about the supernatural world. This, more than anything else, convinces Alexis that something is deeply wrong with the company.
  • Reassigned to Antarctica: He was transferred to Ocean City in the first place because he shot a man after "hallucinating" that he was a vampire.
  • The Renfield:
  • True Sight:

     Martell
An Awakened Mage from the Cult of Ecstacy who Alexis runs into in a bar. After using a rote to determine that Alexis "will give [her] the wildest night" out of everyone in the bar, Martell tags along and eventually helps her fight the Society of Leopold.
