The Band of Boobs

    Hardwon Surefoot

Hardwon Surefoot

Played by: Jake Hurwitz

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hardwon.png
The Bastard of the Mountain (Art by Caldwell Tanner)
Race: Human Episode 61-70: Vampire As of episode 70: Half-Elf
Class: Fighter (Champion)
Alignment: Neutral Good
Background: Folk Hero

"Watch this."

The Bastard of the Mountain, a human fighter raised by dwarves. Thick of calf and quad, 6 foot 6 of muscle and beard. The Great Axe of Irondeep, Pride of the Dwarfanage, The Oft Dead. Having dug further into the Irondeep Mountains than any man or dwarf before him, Hardwon believes his next great adventure lies above ground, and has set off to see the world.

  • Ambiguously Bi: Mainly shown to be interested in women, but also doesn’t exactly complain about being kissed by Matteo the druid, even commenting afterwards that his lips were “super soft”.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: As a fighter, it's what he's good at. It also means he frequently finds himself falling unconscious or even dying, as he tends to neglect self-preservation in the name of dealing damage, which leads to one of his appellations: "The Oft-Dead."
  • Baritone of Strength: Dude's got a deep voice.
  • The Big Guy: Physically large and imposing.
  • Catchphrase: "Watch this!"note
  • Celibate Hero: Despite his masculine posturing, he is really out of the game when it comes to sex. An All-Seeing God reveals that he's a virgin.
  • Critical Hit Class: As a Champion Fighter, Hardwon crits not only on natural 20s, but also on dice rolls of 19 and later 18, which means he can put out huge amounts of damage through critical hits, especially when he's rolling with advantage.
  • Dark Secret: He's addicted to R. Caine.
  • Dumb Muscle: Acts pretty dumb, and not all of it is acting.
  • Disappeared Dad: Was raised in a Dwarfanage.
  • Forgot About His Powers: Takes him a couple episodes to really understand how to use his Action Surge class feature. If he remembered it more, he'd probably not get into as many near-death situations.
  • Heroic Build: Like a brick house.
  • I Call It "Vera": His primary weapon is a battle axe named 'Gemma,' after his childhood 'girlfriend.' He gives the axe to Ulfgar, one of the Legendary Heroes, and now wields the Kingshammer (later re-dubbed the Queenshammer in honor of Gemma).
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: Boasts about being the "Pride of the Dwarfanage," and has a lot of self-announced achievements under his belt. As more is revealed about his backstory, he reveals more insecurities.
  • Reincarnation: Hardwon is reincarnated by Moonshine into a half-elf to save him from vampirism.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "The Bastard of the Mountain," which he announces with pride. Amusingly, no one has ever heard of him.
  • Manly Facial Hair: Not only does he have a big thick beard, it's also a trait he finds very attractive in women, due to his dwarven upbringing.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: With Moonshine. She'd be the perfect woman if she just had a beard.

    Moonshine Cybin (and Paw Paw)

Moonshine Cybin

Played by: Emily Axford

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/moonshine.png
Fungal Queen and her Scramblin' Boy (Art by Caldwell Tanner)
Race: Crick Elf
Class: Druid (Circle of Spores) / Barbarian
Alignment: Crick (Chaotic Good)
Background: Crick (Outlander)

"Oh, Melora."

Crick elf Druid and heir to the Crick Mee Maw. Her people were ostracized by the High Elves to the dank shores of the Crick, where they set up their stumps and threw a rager of a crawdaddy boil. Lover of fungus and ambassador of decay. Purveyor of fine hospitality and even finer vengeance. Known for her jambalaya, gumbo, wrasslin', and lawyerin'. Freckled, ferocious, and dangerously fertile.

  • Action Girl: She’s the only female member of the party and just as good at kicking ass as the guys.
  • Brainless Beauty: She's hot, but she can't read.
    • Subverted. While she's extremely Book Dumb (to the point of being illiterate for much of the campaign) and as prone to bouts of idiocy as the others, Moonshine has proven herself to be quite wise and is often the first party member to figure out a puzzle or troubling situation.
  • Loyal Animal Companion: Paw Paw Gump, a scramblin' oppossum.
  • Never Learned to Read: Originally implied to be a result of her upbringing, but later revealed to have been a personal choice. She eventually asks Bev for some help to teach herself.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: A trait of Crick Elves.
  • Our Elves Are Different: A Crick Elf, a group of high elves cast out of Gladehome.
    • Other odd traits about her, and elves in this world, is that they age similarly to humans, as she is said to be in her 20s.
  • Parental Issues: Recently learned her father was a High Elf, to her horror.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: With Hardwon.
  • Poisonous Person: Her Circle of Spores subclass abilities make her a specialist at fighting with poison. She’s very put out to fight an elemental for the first time, which are immune.
  • Proud Beauty: Finds herself pretty hot.
  • The Smurfette Principle: The only girl of the party, excepting guest stars like Apple Scrumper.
  • Team Mom: Moonshine has a warm, nurturing, and hospitable personality, and she frequently finds herself caring for Bev and Hardwon both in battle and out of it. She learned a lot of it from watching Mee-Maw, who's the Team Mom for the entire Crick Elf community.
  • Unkempt Beauty: Played for Laughs. Moonshine is frequently described to be hot (and has a +2 to Charisma), but is constantly covered in mushrooms and has comically poor hygiene, to the point that Hardwon and Bev often have to convince her to bathe.

Paw Paw Gump, Esq.

Played by: Brian Murphy

Race: Opossum
Class: Opossum

Reer!

Moonshine's fine scramblin' boy, an opossum. He's a Loyal Animal Companion and a surprisingly adept lawyer and scribe.

  • Amplified Animal Aptitude: Despite being unable to speak human languages, Paw Paw can apparently present a cogent legal argument in possum-speak. He also knows how to write, although the only letters he's able to produce are "MO", the first two letters of Moonshine's name.
  • Legacy of Service: Paw Paw's mother, Maw Maw, was Mee-Maw Jolene's animal companion. He's been Moonshine's pet and buddy since he was just a baby.
  • Long-Lived: In real life, opossums only live four to six years. Thanks to Druidic magic, Paw Paw's lifespan will match Moonshine's.
  • Non-Action Guy: Before he takes a level in badass (see below), he can't fight at all. When danger threatens, all he can do is scramble, yelp, and hide in Moonshine's overalls.
  • Team Pet: He's Moonshine's companion, but the entire Band of Boobs is fond of him.
  • Took a Level in Badass: When Moonshine grows to dislike using her spores to create zombies, she learns to use them to temporarily empower Paw Paw instead. When she does, he grows to the size of a dire wolf and attacks with surprising force, although the transformation only lasts a short time.

    Beverly Toegold V

Beverly Toegold V

Played by: Caldwell Tanner

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bev_0.png
A Good Boy (Art By Caldwell)
Race: Halfling
Class: Paladin (Oath of the Ancients) (temporarily Oath of Vengeance)
Alignment: Lawful Good
Background: Noble

"Callooh Callay!"

A teenaged City Halfling from the cloud-wreathed summit of Upper Galaderon, Beverly is part of the Green Teens, a group of junior paladins who strive to honor the Oath of the Ancients, and also collect as many merit patches as possible. He hopes to one day become a full-fledged Green Knight like his father before him; but for now he'll settle with trying to keep his new scoutmasters from getting brutally murdered by all manner of man and monster.

  • Affectionate Nickname: The other members of the party often shorten his name to “Bev”, with Moonshine favoring “Young Bev”.
  • Age-Appropriate Angst: While fighting to save the world, Beverly also deals with questions about his relationship and desperately wants to reunite his family.
  • Battle Trophy: Likes collecting the teeth of fallen enemies.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Seems like an excitable young kid who loves his god a little too much. Usually is an excitable young kid. Is also a deadly swordfighter who has no issues with fighting dirty. It’s worth nothing that he’s proficient in Intimidation and Deception.
  • Butt-Monkey: Often by his own machinations. See his attempt to attract a Bullywug with a mating call, or pulling a prank on a god.
  • Characterization Marches On: Begins as a "Green Teen", a Scout-like organization which trains young paladins. Eventually, he levels up to a full "Green Knight," with appropriate changes to his maturity.
  • Dork Knight: A total nerd who gets excited about Green Teen jamboreens and serving the light of Pelor, but is also an incredibly powerful paladin.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Tries to trick, or “goof”, an omniscient god, the Watchman, with a vomit-berry. He is almost immediately blown off an impossibly tall watch tower, and liquifies his legs on impact.
  • Hobbits: Is a halfling from a wealthy society presided over by the young "boy-king." A lot of his interactions with his family makes it seem like they are an upper middle-class, contemporary American society.
  • Parental Issues: His father makes a deal with Akarot to protect the Summer Court, with Queen Ezra cruelly suggesting the deal had to be made because the party was weak. Bev doesn't take it well.
  • Scout-Out: A Green Teen. To understand their deal, look no further than their oath.
"A teen of green is never mean
our souls sublime, our hearts pristine
and at all times we stay serene
to glean the sheen of light unseen!"
  • The Smart Guy: Only party member who likes reading and learning.

    Balnor the Brave

Balnor the Brave

Played by: Brian "Murph" Murphy

Race: Halfling
Class: Fighter (Champion) / Fighter (Banneret)

A halfling fighter who joins the party when the Band of Boobs come across a travelling salesman with a Deck of Many Things. When Beverly pulls the Knight card, it grants him a fighter of his race that is dedicated to protecting and serving Beverly.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: To Moonshine, after she kisses him in an attempt to save him and escape from a pair of murderous succubi. For a while, Balnor is under the delusion that he and Moonshine are dating in spite of Moonshine's vocal and emphatic objection to the contrary.
  • Bumbling Dad: Technically a Parental Substitute to Beverly, but the principle is the same. His milquetoast, bungling personality makes him come off as a real square sometimes.
  • Butt-Monkey: The Band of Boobs don't have a very high opinion of him at first, and so relegate him to menial jobs like holding their bags while making jokes about his bland tastes and his dorky dad-like behavior. This treatment lessens over time as Balnor proves to be more useful and the Boobs begin to enjoy his company, but occasionally jokes are made at his expense.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Balnor may a real goober most of the time but proves to be a talented fighter, first during the Band's adventure in the Crick when he kills a pair of giant snakes and over time saves the Boobs on more than one occasion. Reaches its apex at the end of the "Hellfire Chronicles" arc, when he kills Akarot.
  • GMPC: A member of the Band of Boobs commandeered by Murph, the DM.
  • Papa Wolf: Initially, Balnor and Beverly's relationship is that of a knight and dedicated servant. Over time their bond deepens and as Beverly unofficially adopts him as a second dad Balnor genuinely comes to love Beverly as if he were his own child. This extends to protecting Beverly more fiercely in battle, becoming genuinely furious whenever Bev is put in danger.
    • Balnor was also a loving (if slightly stern) and protective father to his own son, Bobby. When he faces the Hounds, the gang of drow bounty hunters that will have killed him, Balnor gets deadly serious and holds nothing back.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Tuna. It's initially a source of humor that the rest of the party roasts him for, but becomes a Chekhov's Gag when they play a game with a hag where she poses as one of the party and is immediately exposed when she incorrectly guesses Balnor's favorite food as chicken.
    • Also Bud Heavy beer to a lesser extent.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: An Invoked Trope. Alanis chose Balnor to join the Band of Boobs precisely because his help would be minor yet integral at the same time. He would aid the party enough to tip battles in their favor so they don't get killed, but not enough to outshine them. This prevents them from relying on Balnor and the Boobs would grow on their own, both as people and as adventurers. His presence also doesn't risk Thiala noticing the party too early and eliminating them as a potential threat, unlike in timelines when Alanis joined the Band of Boobs and got them killed when Thiala sent Chosen to kill them before they got too powerful.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: Balnor is revealed in "The Nannerfly Effect" to have come from a Bad Future where the forces of evil have triumphed that Alanis is actively trying to prevent. Alanis initially approached Balnor to conscript him into travelling back in time to aid the Band of Boobs in the fight against the Chosen and the forces of Hell, but he refused. After his entire village was raided and killed by evil fey, Balnor agreed to travel back so he could prevent his family's death from ever happening.
  • Stout Strength: Balnor is a Big Eater and the Band of Boobs joke that he's got a bit of a gut— a diet of mostly tuna sandwiches and Budweisers will do that to you— but by late campaign he's been fighting for his life (and following Hardwon's workout regimen) for a long time, and he's quite muscular.

Guest Party Members

    Stunkbug

Stunkbug

Played by: Adam Conover

Race: Orc
Class: Fighter (Eldritch Knight)

A bounty hunter the Band of Boobs encounters in the city of Ezry.

  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: Stunkbug is described by Adam and the other players as "orc Frasier Crane."
  • Cultured Badass: A well-groomed orc who wears custom tailored armor, a velvet turtleneck sweater and has a finely furnished apartment, who is also a professional bounty hunter.
  • Fake Memories: A lot of his current personality and memories of his past life are revealed to have been implanted by Professor Duttle in an attempt to use Stunkbug to take out his enemies.
  • Magic Knight: Is of the Eldritch Knight subclass of Fighter, so in addition to his martial abilities Stunkbug is capable of casting spells.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Stunkbug loves tapas. He apparently has not had a full, proper meal in years.

    Tonathan Tinkle

Tonathan Tinkle

Played by: Nathan Yaffe

Race: Rock Gnome
Class: Wizard (School of Divination) / Cleric (Arcana Domain)

A gnome wizard the party scoops (basically kidnaps) up on their way out of Ezry.

  • The Cutie: Why the Band of Boobs scoop him up in the first place. As they are escaping Ezry, the party sees cute little Tonathan trundling along in an adorable steampunk style dune buggy and decide to help him get where he's going faster by literally unseating him from his ride.
  • Extreme Doormat: Accepts Moonshine scooping him from his buggy with only minor protest, under the impression that this sort of thing happens all the time while out adventuring.
  • Photographic Memory: The third eye he gains after becoming leader of the Monks of the Unseen Eye grants him the ability to perfectly recall anything he's ever read.
  • Seers: A Divination wizard who is able to alter the future with his Portent ability - where Nathan can substitute any roll made with one he has recorded beforehand - which has come in handy many times for the Band of Boobs.
  • Taking Up the Mantle: Tonathan inherits the position of leader of the Monks after Uku, the previous leader, is killed when the party destroy the Watchman.

    Apple Scrumper

Apple Scrumper

Played by: Siobhan Thompson

Race: Field Elf
Class: Barbarian (Path of the Totem Warrior)

A field elf and champion mud-boarder the Boobs encounter while on vacation in Smuggler's Bounty. Also a distant cousin to Moonshine, who is a big fan of her mud-boarding career.

  • An Arm and a Leg: Apple loses an arm when Akarot tricks her into touching a Sphere of Annihilation.
  • The Berserker: A barbarian with a hot temper who loves getting into a scrap.
  • British Accents: Siobhan plays Apple with a West Country accent, similar to the villagers from Hot Fuzz.
  • Country Cousin: A Field Elf - a type of elf similar to Crick elves but from the rural countryside of Bahumia - who is also Moonshine's ninth cousin, five times removed.
  • Passionate Sports Girl: A professional and semi-famous mud-boarder (the Field Elf equivalent of snowboarding) whose career Moonshine follows.

    Deadeye

Vance "Deadeye" Cybin

Played by: Brennan Lee Mulligan

Race: Crick Elf (Hollow One)
Class: Fighter (Gunslinger) / Rogue (Assassin)

An undead gunslinger who joins the party when they arrive in Shadowfell.

  • Anti-Hero: Having been stuck in bleak and hopeless Shadowfell for so long, Deadeye has been forced to do unscrupulous things to survive. The Band of Boobs discovers that he's working with both the Montgomerys and the Knights of Penance, the former of which results in Hardwon getting turned into a vampire.
  • Died Happily Ever After: After accomplishing his mission and stopping the Montgomerys, Deadeye is able to finally rest in peace. After wishing the party goodbye and telling his sister Moonshine he loves her, his spirit returns to the Crick where he dies with a smile on his face.
  • The Gunslinger: A crack shot with his pistol first introduced blowing off a monster's head and then shooting a tiny mayo nut out of the air. His entire aesthetic leans toward the classic Western gunslinger archetype with his drawling Southern accent, Cowboy attire and anti-heroic personality.
  • I Call It "Vera": Has names for his guns: his pistol is "Luanne" and his rifle is "Reba."
  • Helping Hands: Deadeye is able to detach his shooting hand and his good eye and turn it into a reconnaissance spy and pickpocket he calls Handy Andy.
  • Knight in Sour Armor: His time in Grimhawk has turned him quite harsh and cynical, having lost much hope of escaping his current state. As he's fond of saying, "this town (Grimhawk) is bad!" which sums up his entire perspective that the party (and Moonshine in particular) are determined to shake him out of.
  • Long-Lost Relative: Is revealed to be one of Moonshine's many brothers.
  • Mask of Sanity: Keeps his composure for the most part, but it's clear his time in the Shadowfell and being undead has taken a toll on his mind. He sometimes laughs at jokes too loudly and for too long, and when he takes the Band of Boobs back to his house, they discover a hoarder's nest of discarded junk and a Room Full of Crazy with walls covered in pages of his "memoirs," mostly consisting of the phrase "THERE IS NO ESCAPE" in blood over and over again.
  • Meaningful Name: His nickname is another term for an expert marksman but also refers to the fact that he literally has one decomposing, rotting eye.

    Jveliin

Jveliin "JV"

Played by: Jake Hurwitz

Race: Dwarf
Class: Barbarian (Path of the Zealot)

A dwarven barbarian and member of the Knights of Penance who briefly joins the Band of Boobs during the time Hardwon was out of commission and under the thrall of the Montgomery vampire clan.

  • Earn Your Happy Ending: With the Montgomerys wiped out and Grimhawk saved, JV is unfortunately stuck in limbo, having given up his only means of resurrection to help another fellow revenant come back. But through this selfless act, JV is absolved of his sins and freed from the revenant cycle by the dwarf god Moradin who welcomes him into his heavenly forge.
  • Friendly Zombie: An all-round friendly and pleasant guy who also happens to be an undead revenant.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Being a revenant, Jveliin is able to resurrect himself from an urn of ashes where the Knights of Penance rest. However, when one of the younger revenants can't come back because their urn has been destroyed, JV gives up his urn so that she can come back at the cost of JV being stuck in limbo forever. However, see Earn Your Happy Ending for how this turns out.
  • Insistent Terminology: Refers to vampires as "bloody Draculas" despite Bortram's attempts to correct him.
  • Revenant Zombie: A undead warrior in the service of the Knights of Penance, whose mission is to wipe out the scourge of the Montgomery vampire family. As a revenant, every time JV is killed he comes back a day later reforming from an urn of ashes in the church where the Knights are based.
  • Rugged Scar: JV has one scar on his face and another on his throat which was caused by Maw Maw, the Crick possum that killed him.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Jake describes JV as a shorter, stouter version of Hardwon. He's also a dwarf, dwarves of course being the race who raised Hardwon, and both are martial fighters. There's also the running joke that JV is now dating Hardwon's ex Gemma in dwarf heaven.
  • That Makes Me Feel Angry: JV tends to punctuate his rages by exclaiming "I'm very upset!" in a confusingly cheerful tone.
  • Unexplained Accent: Jake plays Jveliin with an inexplicable New Zealand accent that no other character in Bahumia seems to share (other than his sister, who the Band of Boobs later meet).

    Mavrus the Unskooled

Mavrus "the Unskooled" Bombora

Played by: Zac Oyama

Race: Tiefling
Class: Sorcerer (Draconic Bloodline)

A talented but aimless student at the Gladeholm University of Arcane Arts and Sciences who Lucanus pairs up with the Band of Boobs when they enter the Gladeholm Wizards' Tournament.

  • Appropriated Appellation: Mavrus's title of "the Unskooled" was supposed to be an insult from the higher elves due to his refusal to take his education seriously, but he thought it sounded cool and took it as a compliment.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: A gifted sorcerer but couldn't care less about studying or going to classes.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: Described by Zac as resembling Keanu Reeves.
  • Cool Teacher: After graduating as a student when he helps the Boobs win the tournament, when we see him again as a professor his unorthodox teaching style involves getting students to rip up their books, which they don't respond well to. He then quickly gives up and dismisses the class.
  • Playing with Fire: An sorcerer with both Infernal and red Draconic ancestry, he deals extra damage whenever he casts fire-based magic such as Fireball, one of his more commonly used spells.
  • Power Gives You Wings: Mavrus is able to summon a pair of dragon wings due his draconic heritage as a sorcerer.
  • Xtreme Kool Letterz: Deliberately spells "the Unskooled" with a K.

Bahumia

Scoutmaster Denny Pebblepot

Played by: Brian Murphy

Race: Halfling
Class: Paladin (Oath of the Ancients)

"Hey gang!"

The cowardly and craven Scoutmaster of Beverly's chapter of the Green Teen organization, and the one who hires and brings the Band of Boobs together for their first adventure.

  • 0% Approval Rating: Scout master of the Green Teens. His incompetence means he has zero respect from anyone with a modicom of worldly experience.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Denny is supremely selfish and intensely cowardly, while always willing to leap to the centre of any event to take as much credit as possible.
  • Dirty Coward: It can be hidden from, Denny will hide from it. The one time it seemed like he might have been showing bravery in not bending the knee to Thiala, it turned out he was so scared he collapsed in the fetal position. Which she didn't count.
  • Upper-Class Twit: From a wealthy family of powerful incompetents.

  • Knight Templar Parent: A high ranking Green Knight paladin who sees himself as a sword of Pelor.
  • Parents as People: He had the best of intentions but he's never been the most caring father, often being distant from Bev. He's also usually convinced he's in the right, which allowed him to justify making a deal with Akarot.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: He struggles with this initially but eventually he's openly proud of his son for his growth under Moonshine and Hardwon.

     Egwene Kindleaf

Egwene Kindleaf

Played by: Brian Murphy

Race: Halfling
Class: Paladin

  • Aloof Big Sister: When first introduced, Egwene has a chilly relationship with Erlin (and Beverly), whom she finds annoying. After the fall of Galaderon, she shows a lot more affection towards her brother and warms up to Bev, although she's still quick to remind them that they're dweebs.
  • Aloof Archer: Aloof, sarcastic, solitary, and absolutely deadly with a bow.
  • Hero of Another Story: Egwene rides along with Red and Gunther on the Stormborn while the Boobs are traveling through the Feywild and Shadowfell.
  • Hero-Worshipper: Downplayed; she thinks Moonshine is incredibly cool, but attempts to appear nonchalant about it.
  • Little Miss Badass: At just 19 years old, Egwene is already one of the most skilled and competent Green Knights. It's stated that she was the youngest former Green Teen to be knighted— a record that is soon surpassed by Bev.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: When Pestilence takes over Gladeholm and turns nearly all of the populace into zombies, Egwene remains uninfected, and manages to kill or evade every enemy in her path while escorting Paw Paw to safety and joining up with the Band of Boobs.
  • Red Baron: The Lady Snake.

  • Father Neptune: An aerial variation. He's a grizzled and experienced skyship sailor who helps teach the Boobs about the operation of the Stormborn, and keeps it flying in their absence.
  • Honorary Uncle: To Hardwon, being one of Elias Stormborn's former crew members. Eventually, everyone starts referring to him as "Uncle" Red.

    Gunther

Race: Bearfolk

  • Expy: He's the Chewbacca to Red's Han Solo.
  • Intelligible Unintelligible: Gunther only communicates through growls and groans, but Red understands him perfectly.
  • Killed Off for Real: He falls in battle against the Demon Lord Juibilex, and his body is dissolved by acid. Moonshine's Reincarnation spell seems to bring him back to life... but the Horseman of Death later reveals that he had interfered in the revival ritual, and that the "Gunther" who came back was really a puppet under his control.

     Ol' Cobb

Ol' Cobb

Played by: Brian Murphy

  • BFG: Wields a huge blunderbuss as his primary weapon.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: Stayed with the party for much of their early adventures, only leaving after the battle with Marabelle.
  • The Gunslinger: Ol' Cobb has the grizzled, stoic air of a classic Western cowboy which is helped by his gruff, Southern drawl.
  • Sad Clown: As the party notes, Ol' Cobb likes to keep it light and is apparently known for his sense of humor.
  • Silver Fox: He's hundreds of years old and still fighting fit, cut and possessing of a "vicious V".

     Jolene Cybin

Jolene "The Green" Cybin

Moonshine's mother and the current head elder of the Crick, otherwise known as the "Mee Maw."

  • Action Mom: A powerful druid and mother of many children.
  • Good Parents: Exceptionally kind, she's beloved by her family and the vast majority of people that meet her.

     Maw Maw Gump

Maw Maw Gump

Played by: Brian Murphy

Race: Possum

Paw Paw's mother and Jolene's familiar and trusted advisor.

  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: She's got enough skill and authority to be temporary Mee Maw in Jolene's absence, was a leader of the joint elf society and directed much of the rescue efforts after Thiala killed Pelor.
  • Only Sane Man: Maw Maw is frequently the straight man, redirecting the chaotic Boobs to stay on task.
  • Uplifted Animal: Granted speech and intelligence by Jolene's Awaken spell long before the campaign began, Maw Maw is smarter than most of the humanoids she meets.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Looks like an ordinary opossum, but she speaks with a deep, commanding voice, and lacks a Crickfolk accent.

     Cooter

Cooter

Race: Crick Elf

Frostwind

     Gemma Bronzebeard

Gladeholm

     Lucanus Aer'Tea

Headmaster Lucanus Aer'Tea

Played by: Brian Murphy

Race: High Elf
Class: Wizard

  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Shouts "Excelsior!" at random, does not know how not to dote on his daughter in public, and got way too emotional about her learning Counterspell.
  • Former Teen Rebel: By High Elf standards— he used to be wild enough to have a fling with a Crick Elf, and the party surmises that, despite his Suspiciously Specific Denial, he has definitely gotten drunk on crick water before.
  • Nice Guy: Initially quite standoffish, he's actually a rather endearing uber-nerd who is ecstatic to be a dad.

     Ren

Ren

Race: High Elf
Class: Wizard

Hill Home

Irondeep

     Pendeghast/"Pendergreens

  • Heel–Face Turn: Initially was openly manipulative, trapping Dead-Eye in a devil's bargain and has used powerful malicious people for thousands of years to get his own way. His time with the Boobs made him a likable dork who enjoys videogames, demolition derbies and eating chicken bones. By the time he's freed to be the new lord of Hell he's ultimately a friend to the party and takes the burden on to make sure he doesn't let Moonshine down.

Legendary Heroes

     In General

A trio of heroic figures who previously saved the world of Bahumia from the dread necromancer Ilsed and Asmodeus, King of the Nine Hells. After defeating them and destroying Asmodeus, all three of them dropped off the face of the planet and have been missing a year before the campaign's start.

  • The Fellowship Has Ended: After defeating Ilsed and unseating Asmodeus from his throne in the Nine Hells, the Band of Boobs learn that the legendary heroes disbanded after Thiala's ambitions to fix the world grew too large and she took Asmodeus's divine heart and used it to make herself a god. Thiala then brainwashed Ulfgar and turned him against Alanis, who tried multiple times to stop her through time travel, and was forced to flee to the Feywild and come up with a better plan to beat Thiala.
  • Precursor Heroes: A group of heroic adventurers who preceded the Band of Boobs, but an unusual example of the trope in that they are contemporaries of the main characters rather than having lived and died centuries beforehand.
  • Walking Spoiler: The mystery of where the legendary heroes disappeared to after saving the world drives much of the story, and their answers set up a number of shocking reveals that shape the direction of the campaign.

    Thiala (Major Spoilers

Thiala

Played by: Brian "Murph" Murphy

Race: Human / Celestial (God)
Class: Cleric

One of the three legendary heroes, and a cleric of Pelor. After killing Asmodeus and dethroning him from his seat in the Nine Hells, Thiala broke her pact with her god, consumed Asmodeus's divine heart (instead of destroying it as Ulfgar and Alanis were led to believe) and proclaimed herself a god to save all of Bahumia.

  • A God Am I: While Thiala has extreme delusions of grandeur she's also a dangerously literal example, having taken Asmodeus's divine heart - the essence of his godliness - for herself and ascending to godhood.
  • Big Bad: Akarot, Ilsed and the forces of the Nine Hells compete with Thiala for the status of biggest villain, but Thiala's actions have the biggest impact on the Band of Boob's story from starting a civil war in Beverly's home city of Galaderon, to the Chosen occupying the Crick and Chosen soldiers killing Hardwon's mother. She also is the Final Boss the Band of Boobs face at the end of the campaign.
  • Fallen Hero: A former hero who helped save the world, but gave into her greater ambitions and became a tyrant whose actions threaten to undo all of Bahumia.
  • Laughably Evil: Defied. Every single other foe the Band of Boobs faces engages in banter with them, has weird quirks, or is generally played for some degree of laughs, but she does not tolerate the heroes' hazing and shoots down their every attempt to be comedic. There is absolutely nothing funny about Thiala; she's a genocidal Knight Templar who threatens the entire world.
  • Light Is Not Good: Despite being a former cleric of Pelor, the deity of light, and now a goddess of light herself Thiala is a despotic ruler, deeply deluded in the belief that she is the only person who can save Bahumia and wrathful against those who would stand in her way.

    Ulfgar

Ulfgar Trueaxe

Played by: Brian "Murph" Murphy

Race: Dwarf
Class: Fighter

One of the three legendary heroes and a dwarf fighter from Hardwon's hometown of Irondeep. During the final battle against Asmodeus, Ulfgar was infected with Crick Rot by Marabelle which created in him an unquenchable blood lust. Thiala brainwashed Ulfgar , his Crick Rot-addled mind being easier to control, and used Ulfgar to serve her cause and help her take over Bahumia.

  • The Berserker: Even when he's not under mental influence, Ulfgar is a hot-tempered warrior who flies into bloodthirsty rages in battle.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Thiala created an amulet that she entrusted a Chosen captain with, which they used to control Ulfgar's actions.
  • Made of Iron: At one point jumps off an airship high in the sky and into the sea. The Band of Boobs is horrified but because Ulfgar is practically a god-level hero he survives the fall without much issue.
  • Sealed Badass in a Can: In between "The Galaderon Saga" and "The Cutthroat Chronicles", the Band of Boobs find that Ulfgar was trapped in a magical gem by pirates to be delivered to Akarot. The party takes the gem to Frostwind to find someone who can free him, and eventually Hardwon uses the Kingshammer to break Ulfgar out of the gem.

    Alanis

Alanis

Played by: Brian "Murph" Murphy

Race: Elf
Class: Wizard

One of the three legendary heroes and an elf wizard.

  • Erudite Stoner: Alanis is an extremely intelligent wizard and is described as taking huge rips from her bong in between bouts of exposition.
  • Mr. Exposition: Explains a lot of the backstory the Band of Boobs was not privy to, from what happened to the legendary heroes after defeating Ilsed and Asmodeus and her attempts to stop the coming apocalypses that would destroy all of Bahumia.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: In her attempts to stop Thiala, Alanis created a spell to reverse time and go back to defeat Thiala before she begins her campaign of terror. In her five attempts, each has led to some version of the apocalypse: one where Thiala takes over the world, one where Ilsed and his forces take over the world, and multiple timelines where the Band of Boobs died. The current campaign is Alanis's sixth attempt to rectify her mistakes.

Main Antagonists

    Akarot

Akarot

Played by: Brian "Murph" Murphy

Race: Lich
Class: Antipaladin

A mysterious lord of the Nine Hells who the Band of Boobs first encounter in Smuggler's Bounty, but are only properly introduced to during their time in Frostwind.

  • Arch-Enemy: To the Band of Boobs. Thiala is a larger-scale threat, but the entire party has personal beef with Akarot— Hardwon because he murdered Gemma Bronzebeard with a hollow-body assassin, Moonshine because Akarot, in the guise of Ilsed, corrupted Marabelle into a monster, and with Beverly because Akarot coerced Bev's dad into a Deal with the Devil and pressed him into the service of the Nine Hells.
  • Demonic Possession: Akarot is a devil who is able to hijack people, turning them into his "hollow bodies" which are represented by pale corpses with no eyes.
  • The Dragon: A lieutenant of Ilsed as well as his son. This is what Akarot claims, but the truth is that Ilsed was another vessel of Akarot, whose body he stole when Ilsed was much younger during his time at Gladeholm University and long before the legendary heroes ever came around.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Akarot's actions in the past ( stealing Ilsed's body and using it to spark the War of Bahumia) not only affect the Band of Boobs' stories but also the backstory of the Legendary Heroes and their motivations too.
  • Laughably Evil: Akarot is capital-E Evil, but he's not immune to the Boobs' antics and often finds himself trading childish insults with them or awkwardly offering to be Beverly's Cool Big Bro.
  • Undignified Death: In the husk of the Demon Lord Frazzt-Urblu, he gets shoved ass-first into a Sphere of Annihilation by Balnor.
  • Vocal Dissonance: This exceedingly evil, clever, and dangerous archdevil speaks with a low-pitched, somewhat breathy Simpleton Voice.

    Marabelle

Marabelle "the Terrible" Cybin

Played by: Brian "Murph" Murphy

Race: Crick Elf
Class: Druid (Circle of Spores)

Jolene's sister and Moonshine's aunt, revealed to be a lieutenant of Ilsed and progenitor of the disease known as Crick Rot.

  • Face–Monster Turn: Marabelle reveals to Moonshine that she was corrupted by a magical book Ilsed (disguised as a travelling salesman) gave her with the promise that it would make Marabelle more powerful. Upon opening the book Marabelle saw the tome for what it was - a cursed item designed to possess her - and immediately tried to dispel its magic. It didn't work, and in the moments before her total corruption Marabelle attempted to apologise to Jolene via a note which was intercepted by Ilsed, full of remorse for her actions and leaving things between the two strained.
  • He Who Must Not Be Named: Known by the young'uns of the Crick as a boogeyman-type figure called "She Who Has No Hospitality."
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Marabelle attempts to mess with Moonshine's head by telling her that she isn't Jolene's child at all, but a creature created from a cluster of her spores. Moonshine doesn't buy it, and for a while it's left ambiguous as to whether or not she's telling the truth. It's eventually revealed Marabelle was lying, as Moonshine does meet her father later on who admits to having a past relationship with Jolene.
