The Captain is so absurdly strong that he once smacked someone's spine through their lungs just by patting them on the back. In his defense, he was quite extraordinarily drunk.
- Captain Superhero: He's a parody of the concept of using "Captain" as a superhero alias. He claimed that he used various other aliases like "Captain Marvel", "Captain Avenger" and even "Captain Kerosene" (all of which are aliases used by other heroes) but got sued for them and eventually just settled with "The Captain".
- Flying Brick: He describes his powerset as a "generic set of special superhero abilities".
- Touched by Vorlons: He was given his superpowers by aliens who crash-landed on Earth that he proceeded to murder because he thought they were leprechauns with gold.

- Suspiciously Similar Substitute: He's a blatant parody of Nick Fury. Warren Ellis originally wanted to use Fury himself but wasn't given permission and thus created Dirk Anger as a response.
