Howard North
Portrayed By: Ben O'Toole.
An orphaned sewerage worker. When Rangi scans him with the Nekrotronic app, it unlocks his latent nekromantic powers.- Achievements in Ignorance: Initially Howard was at his most helpful completely by accident, seen when he turns Rangi into a wraith. By the climax he's taken a step up in confidence and gained greater understanding of his abilities that he's willing to try things the other nekromancers aren't sure is even possible.
- Big "NO!": Howard lets out a large one when Rangi is killed, which inadvertently saves Rangi's soul and turns him into a wraith.
- Butt-Monkey: In his first appearance, Howard gets sprayed with about a gallon of sewerage, at least some of which got in his mouth.
- Cowardly Lion: He's understandably freaked out by the sudden appearance of ghosts and ghouls and tries to back out a couple of times, but eventually he finds his courage.
- Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: When Finnegan offers to spare Howard if he sells out the other Nekromancers, Howard bluntly says "Fuck you, Mum!".
- Ship Tease: He's instantly attracted to Molly and upon reviving her they share a Held Gaze, implying that she's starting to like him back.
Finnegan
Portrayed By: Monica Bellucci
Howard's mother. Formerly a nekromancer, she was possessed by a demon and now plots to assimilate all of humanity via their apps and media profiles.- Big Bad: Finnegan is one of the most vile and powerful demons. In the climax, it takes considerably more effort to kill her than it does any other demon.
- Big Red Devil: Finnegan's One-Winged Angel form.
- Evil Tower of Ominousness: Finnegan resides in one of these. The interiors are bathed in a red light that make it resemble a bureaucratic Hellscape.
- Terms of Endangerment: Howard's mother has long been subsumed by the demon, yet she still refers to him in motherly terms as a way to make Howard question his allegiance.
Molly
Portrayed By: Caroline Ford
A nekromancer along with her sister and father. She's the more personable of the sisters.- Came Back Strong: Just like Torquel, Howard manages to resurrect Molly after she dies from having her arm amputated. Molly's arm is also replaced by a supernatural one, implying she may have similar powers to the resurrected Torquel.
- Determinator: Even after Finnegan rips off her arm and throws her across the room, Molly summons up just enough strength to deliver the killing shot before succumbing to blood loss.
- Heroic BSoD: Molly falls into a depression when Torquel dies while connected to the Netherworld, stating that she could have prevented this by going ahead and having Torquel cover her back.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: The Girly Girl to Torquel's Tomboy.
Torquel
Portrayed By: Tess Haubrich
A nekromancer along with her sister and father. She's the tougher sister.- Came Back Strong: Howard accidentally killed Torquel when she was possessed by a demon, but her soul was preserved in one of their containment boxes, so Molly and Howard rematerialise her. Upon being resurrected, Torquel has turned into some kind of amphibious humanoid with combustible flesh and immortality.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl. The Tomboy to Molly's Girly Girl.
Rangi
Portrayed By: Epine 'Bob' Savea
Howard's best friend and fellow sewerage worker. He downloads the Nekrotronic app that kickstarts the plot. He's killed by a demon early on, but Howard saves his soul and brings him back as a wraith.- Creepy Blue Eyes: Rangi's wraith eyes have dark blue sclera.
- The Millstone: Rangi keeps playing the Nekrotronic app even after seeing that it's attracting supernatural beings to their location. This ends up costing the lives of both Luther and himself.
- Our Ghosts Are Different: He's turned into a wraith, which is specified as a ghost that maintains their ego rather than becoming corrupted or dull.
Luther
Portrayed By: David Wenham
Molly and Torquel's nekromantic father. He was part of the same team of nekromancers as Finnegan before she became a demon.- Actor Allusion: He's played by David Wenham, who knows a thing or two about fighting corrupted souls and villains who hide in ominous towers.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Luther dies fighting off a horde of demons while Howard, Molly and Torquel escape.
