Thirteen Buddhas | Four Heavenly Kings | Eight Offering Bodhisattvas | Twelve Heavenly Generals | Twelve Devas | Twenty-Eight Legions | Five Great Vidyārājas
The Hachikuyō/Hakkuyō Bosatsu are a group of eight Buddhas representing eight offerings to the Five Dhyani Buddhas as depicted in the Mandala of the Diamond Realm, consisting of four Inner offerings (Joy, Garland, Song and Dance) and four Outer offerings (Incense, Flower, Lantern and Oil). In the game, they present themselves as a performing troupe of sorts who put on shows to entertain other Buddhas.

    In General
  • Com Mons: Since they're all 3-stars, they show up distressingly frequently during summoning.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: They are all partnered up in pairs, with one Inner paired up with one Outer at the same cardinal direction.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Each one of them has a shortened Stage Name, which is how they're referred to by everyone else.
  • Undying Loyalty: They are all centered on Dainichi, and each pair is loyal to one member of the remaining four Dhyani Buddhas.
    • Southwest Offerings (Leader and Hana) are loyal to Hōshō.
    • Southeast Offerings (Ureshī and Kaoru) are loyal to Ashuku.
    • Northwest Offerings (Akari and Uta) are loyal to Amida.
    • Northeast Offerings (Mai and Nūrī) are loyal to Fukū.

Rarity: Bronze (3)

Type: Bodhisattva (菩薩)
Element: Water (水)

A.k.a. Kaoru, represents the Incense of the Outer offerings at the Southeast of the Diamond Realm, an attractive man whose natural body scent coupled with good looks and graceful mannerism earns him high popularity.
  • Cool Big Bro: Thanks to his appealing nature, he is fairly popular and has his own admirers. His first Mandala Board story concerns Mai's high regard for him and trying to emulate him, while his third is basically the same thing, but with Rasetsu in Mai's place.
  • Curtains Match the Window: His hair and eyes are the same brown.
  • Graceful Ladies Like Purple: He wears a lot of purple to accentuate his sensual and elegant nature.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Ureshī, but he's also close to Nūrī and acts as his confidant.
  • High-Class Call Girl: His entire design and mannerism is meant to evoke the image of an oiran; he has a refined and attractive personality, plus feminine good looks and striking dress sense (with the obi knot tied in the front), and also talks like one.
  • Japanese Pronouns: He refers to himself as wachiki, an archaic feminine pronoun used by courtesans in the Edo period.
  • The Knights Who Say "Squee!": He has an object of admiration in Ashuku, whom he calls "big sister".
  • Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: Dark feminine to Ashuku's Light; his brand of feminine is more mature and focused on sensuality and a sense of mysteriousness. The two even wear contrasting dark/light colors to reflect this.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Is known as "Kaoru".
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Red to Ureshī's Blue; he expresses way more emotions than his perpetually stoic partner.
  • Smells Sexy: His body naturally emanates pleasant scents, which is the main source of his appeal among other Buddhas, to the point where his leftover bathwater is highly sought after. This is used against him in a one-panel strip where he's used as a living air freshener.
     22 – Kongōke Bosatsu | Vajrapuṣpā (金剛華菩薩)

Rarity: Bronze (3)

Type: Bodhisattva (菩薩)
Element: Earth (地)

A.k.a. Hana, represents the Flower of the Outer offerings at the Southwest of the Diamond Realm, an unabashedly narcissistic man who overwhelmingly focuses on beauty and has a peculiar fondness for stripping himself naked.
  • Agent Peacock: Good-looking, strikingly dressed, has absolute confidence in his own beauty and carries that confidence into battle.
  • Comedic Underwear Exposure: One of his animations in Super-Deformed form in the Great Hall consists of his stripping down to his underwear.
  • The Dandy: Flamboyant in appearance and extremely fixated on beauty.
  • Expy: Is quite obviously an expy of Sengo Muramasa, what with their highly eccentric personalities and especially their unhealthy obsession with nudity and stripping.
  • The Fighting Narcissist: Narcissistic as hell, but has fighting capability to go with it and doesn't hesitate to rub his beauty in enemies' faces.
  • Full-Frontal Assault: Implied if he's the captain and the team has reached a boss node.
Hana: I have nothing left to strip…
  • Ham and Deadpan Duo: Ham to Leader's Deadpan.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Leader.
  • Hidden Depths: His interest in undressing likely stems more from a misguided desire to be helpful (see Literal-Minded below) and a belief in natural beauty than perversion, and as far as his friendship with Leader goes, while making him reign in his behavior most of the time, he's shown on at least one occasion to truly care about Leader's well-being. Note how his reply to Leader is his only reply dialogue that isn't about undressing, his own beauty or both.
Hana: I'll gladly lend an ear to any kind of discussion. Now, pour your heart out into this bosom of mine.
    • As stated above, part of his obsession with nudity comes from the belief that true beauty is not changing what one has been born with and staying the way they are. He uses this argument in reply to Miroku's lament about his stature.
    • He's implied at least once to be skilled in ikebana, an art that requires grace, refinement and peace of mind, qualities he normally has little to none (to be fair, this is Truth in Television as Vajrapuṣpā is the patron saint of ikebana in Japan).
  • Hunk: Despite his Bishōnen looks, he's noted by many characters to be very well-built.
  • Large Ham: His behavior is quite over-the-top.
  • Literal-Minded: He lives by the motto hitohada nugu, which means "to be helpful to others" but literally says "to strip off a layer of skin". Guess which meaning he goes with.
  • Mr. Fanservice: There is a lot of ground for his narcissism about his beauty, especially in the rare moment when his stripping is not Played for Laughs. He may or may not actually work as a professional stripper for the Eight Offerings performance troupe, as he's noted by other Buddhas to have elevated taking his clothes off into an art.
  • Naked People Are Funny: While he is indeed a Mr. Fanservice, his insistence on stripping and actually stripping (in chibi form) is almost always a Running Gag more than anything.
  • Narcissist: Very proud about his beauty and is not afraid to boast about it.
  • No Indoor Voice: A boisterous man who rarely keeps his voice down.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Referred to as "Hana".
  • Proud Beauty: Doesn't even need to be said.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Red to Leader's Blue; he's much more boisterous and less restrained.
  • Shameless Fanservice Guy: Wears skimpy clothing, is painfully narcissistic about his beauty, and feels zero shame about incessantly trying to take his kit off at any given moment.
Mai: (He's going all out in broad daylight and doesn't care who's looking…! Hana is so awesome!)
  • Stripperiffic: His outfit is quite skimpy: it boasts an Impossibly-Low Neckline so low it barely covers his nipple area, a robe that bares his shoulders and is slit very high as to show off his legs.

Rarity: Bronze (3)

Type: Bodhisattva (菩薩)

A.k.a. Akari, represents the Lantern of the Outer offerings at the Northwest of the Diamond Realm, a loud and boisterous firework specialist.
  • BFG: Shoots at enemies using a bazooka-like firework launcher.
  • Fatal Fireworks: Uses fireworks as a weapon.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Uta.
  • Mad Bomber: While not villainous or unstable, he enjoys blasting off fireworks to a worrying degree, and will fire them almost anywhere, even indoors.
  • No Indoor Voice: Since he specializes in fireworks and likes a good blast, you'd be hard pressed to find a line of his that isn't shouted at the top of his lungs.
  • No Social Skills: "Politeness" seemingly doesn't exist in his dictionary. While Buddhas have a hierarchy and those at lower ranks usually use polite speech towards higher-ranked ones regardless of how casually they normally speak, he addresses even tathāgatas without honorifics and in rough casual speech.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Is known as "Akari".
  • Sarashi
  • Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: Loves shouting out the sound of fireworks.
    Akari: Dododododododododo-kkan!
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Manly Man to Uta's Sensitive Guy.

A.k.a. Nūrī, represents the Oil of the Outer offerings at the Northeast of the Diamond Realm and specializes in makeup and painting.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: He feels indebted to Fukū for saving his life in the past, but doesn't have the courage to tell him.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: As stated above, he cannot plainly tell his savior Fukū how grateful he is, and part of his story involves his trying to overcome this.
  • The Dandy: Not as bad as, say, Hana, but being the troupe's specialized makeup artist, he pays quite a bit of attention to beauty care, makeup and trends.
Nūrī: Dehydration is the skin's greatest enemy.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Mai, but he's also known to get along well with Kaoru.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Is called either "Nūrī" or "Nuri".
  • Please Put Some Clothes On: If he's with Hana in internal affairs.
  • Translator Buddy: To Mai who has trouble speaking normally.
  • Vocal Dissonance: A reasonably well-built man with a goatee is usually not expected to have a voice as soft – Bishonen-level soft – and speech pattern as feminine as his.

A.k.a. Leader, represents the Garland of the Inner offerings at the Southwest of the Diamond Realm, the head of the Eight Offerings who does not perform, but instead acts as the manager and show producer for the troupe.
  • Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: Usually plays the sane partner to Hana's wild eccentricities, keeping him in line and preventing much of his undressing.
  • Double Standard/Karma Houdini: Kokūzō sells stuff with Kaoru's name and image stamped over it without his permission? He's wrong, Kaoru's upset and he's forced to stop. Leader does the same? He gets away with it, Kaoru's right to his own image be damned, because the money goes to supporting the troupe!
  • Gorgeous Period Dress: Wears lavishly patterned and draping ancient Chinese clothing into battle, and the tángzhuāng he wears for internal affairs is no slouch either.
  • Ham and Deadpan Duo: Deadpan to Hana's Ham.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Hana.
  • Improbable Weapon User: He whips enemies with a fancy chain of flowers and leaves.
  • Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: One of the most excellently dressed Offerings with an equally elaborate weapon to match.
  • The Leader: It's right there in his nickname; he's the leader of the Eight Offerings and acts as a troupe manager to them.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Is known by the rest of the Eight Offerings and nearly everyone else as "Leader", but Fukū and Hōshō instead call him "Man".
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: The gentle and friendly chief of the Eight Offerings who genuinely has their interests at heart and sometimes acts as their voice of reason.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Blue to Hana's Red; he's much more mature and mild-mannered.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: His hair is a light shade of pink and he has a generally pleasant and courteous personality.
  • The Sociopath: While not villainous or in any way malevolent, he can and does resort to ruthless and underhanded tactics in the name of promoting the Offerings, case in point secretly selling products using Kaoru's image without his permission and then citing the fact he's trying to help the troupe to get Kaoru to agree, and pretending to resign to create a controversy and drum up hype for the troupe while hiding the fact from the performers themselves for no real reason, leaving them too emotionally shaken and lacking professional support to perform.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Possibly donuts, which he is seen eating in the Great Hall.

A.k.a. Ureshī, represents the Joy of the Inner offerings at the Southeast of the Diamond Realm, is hard-working and skilled in street performance arts, but is a perpetually deadpan man.
  • Flat Joy: May as well be this trope personified; he's the freaking Joy, he's a skilled entertainer in various circus crafts, but his personality is rather cold and unenergetic.
  • Formal Characters Use Keigo: He is always polite, which goes with his diligence but also creates a sense of distance and emphasizes his stoicism.
  • Hiding Behind Your Bangs: Has bangs covering his left eye to accentuate his stoic nature.

A.k.a. Mai, represents the Dance of the Inner offerings at the Northeast of the Diamond Realm, a skillful and diligent dancer but also a very shy, reserved and socially awkward young man whose face is always hidden behind a mask.
  • Dance Battler: Being the Dance, his battle moves and skill names are dance-themed.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: His eyes as shown in artworks with his mask off look like the Rinnegan – purple pupils with faint ripple patterns.
  • The Faceless: His real face is almost never seen, and he wears the mask even in the bath. It gets to the point where even some fellow Offerings, his close ones, have never seen his face.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Nūrī.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Is called "Mai".
  • Shrinking Violet: The king of this trope in this game; he is extremely shy, is afraid to even show his face to the public, and can rarely ever speak complete sentences.
  • Speech Impediment: Eloquent enough in his own head, but rarely ever speaks without pausing and trailing off, and essentially incapable of speaking long sentences.
