https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/demon_tribe.png
An amalgamation of slightly different tribes ruled by a monarch from the Osa bloodline that's said to be a descendant of the Gods.
  • The Conqueror: Isabella's predecessors conquered weaker Demon clans.
  • Horned Humanoid: Members of the Osa bloodline look like humans with horns.
  • The Immune: The Osa bloodline is the only race that is immune to the control of the God Race.
  • Level-Up at Intimacy 5: A trait peculiar to the Osa bloodline. All males who consummate their marriage with women of the Osa bloodline receive 80% of their brides' powers and can transform into demons. This process is harmless to the women who can gradually recover their power. Even a powerless human like Xiang Ye is not exempt from this rule.
  • Ludd Was Right: They don't bother with forgery, preferring their celebrated strength as a solution to problems. They become Technologically Advanced Foe after the new Demon King ascends the throne...
  • A Mythology Is True: The Osa bloodline did originate from the God Race... Specifically from Princess Andaman, the daughter of the God King.
  • Military Coup: Lilian, a commander, and her followers lead a coup against Isabella with the help of Tols Angus. One year later, Isabella leads a coup against Lilian with the help of Xiang Ye and friends.
  • Pointy Ears: Members of the Osa bloodline have this trait.
  • Strength Equals Worthiness: Pretty much their ideology. However, demons are usually forbidden from killing their own kind, so Isabella is outraged when Lilian broke that rule.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Their manufacturing and use of boundary force is not as refined as the Human Tribe's, but they are stronger in terms of might and Boundary prowess and regularly spar against the humans in war. The Demon monarch has stronger Boundary Force than the Human monarch.

     George Osa
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/george_osa.jpg
Isabella's father and the previous King of the Demon Tribe.
  • Dark Is Evil: In contrast to his daughter's Dark Is Not Evil.
  • The Ghost: He only appears when mentioned in past events, even then, his face is not properly shown nor does he get dialogue.
  • Like Father, Unlike Son: He was a genocidal warlord, yet his daughter turned out kind and compassionate.
  • One-Winged Angel: When Dorona retells the Regent's confrontation with him, he is shown in a gigantic, monstrous form.
  • Uncertain Doom: Isabella's succession implies that he has passed, but there is no explicit confirmation. It is later implied that George Osa passed away from old age. All his children were stillborn, and he was already old when Isabella was born.
  • Warhawk: His approach to being a King in the world stage was to consume the lands. It is revealed that the reason George Osa instigated wars was to slow down the multiplication of life, halting the rise of the God Tribe that wants to devour all life of this world.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With Vasily Andre until some particular issue split them apart. It is implied that Andre did not agree with George's genocidal thoughts.

     The Demon Tribe's High Priest
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/high_priest_4.png
This old bag of bones wishes the two of you to be happy, now go before the soldiers get here!
A priest and advisor to the Demon Kings. She is the one who used the summoning ritual to bring Xiang Ye to the Hullo Plains to be Isabella's "champion".
  • Cool Old Lady: Gentle and kind, and quite elderly.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": She's only known by "High Priest." Her name is never revealed.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Teleported Isabella and Xiang Ye out of the Demon Queen's castle as the Regent and his army were storming in, staying behind to buy time for their escape.
  • High Priest: Her title and occupation, in addition to advising the Kings. She is the only one who knows cryptic advanced spells. She even has a magical Staff of Authority.
  • Long-Lived: She served as the priest for five generations of Demon Kings.
  • Parental Substitute: A flashback reveals that the High Priest was the closest thing Isabella had to a parent.
  • Summoning Ritual: Summons Xiang Ye from Earth using Isabella's Ultimate World Gem as an energy source.
  • Vague Age: She looked exactly the same when Isabella was a child.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Introduced in chapter 1, and killed by the Regent before chapter 4. The shadow of her impaled head is seen in chapter 8.

     Lilian
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_20211121_074432.jpg
A commander of the Demon Tribe. At the start of the series, she betrayed the Demon Queen Isabella when the latter was unarmed and drained her of most of her power. After deposing Isabella, she makes an alliance with Tols Angus and becomes the new Demon Queen.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Lilian is obsessed with Isabella. Isabella finds her utterly repulsive.
  • Assimilation Backfire: She makes the same mistake as Raymond Saso. She consumes Libery for power to fight Xiang Ye and Isabella, despite being informed by Libery that she was poisoned by Xiang Ye's nuke. In moments, the radiation sickness kicks in.
  • Bad Boss: She really doesn't care for her subordinates, no matter how loyal or obedient they are to her.
  • Bodyguard Betrayal: She was one of Isabella's generals and was guarding her during the negotiations before launching her betrayal.
  • Bodyguard Crush: Has an unrequited crush on Isabella.
  • The Caligula: Lilian is an Ax-Crazy tyrant. After deposing Isabella, Lilian reinstates slavery, encourages infighting and killing among the twelve pillars, instigates wars, and subjects her subordinates to nasty punishments. Lilian herself is obsessed with Isabella.
  • Combat Sadomasochist: Enjoys the pain Isabella's attacks inflict on her, which only disgusts the Demon Queen.
  • Complete Immortality: Even after getting irradiated by Xiang Ye and being decapitated by Isabella she still lives and is able to voice her objection to Isabella and Xiang Ye's marriage. Darkulo states this is because Lilian is an "ancient creature".
  • Depower: Xiang Ye uses Forging Field to activate the dagger artifact and take Isabella's power back from Lilian and give it to its rightful owner.
  • Devour the Dragon: Devours Libery to restore her energy... but it bites her in the ass because Libery absorbed too much radiation from Xiang Ye.
  • Did Not Think This Through: Lilian stripped Isabella of her powers and authority using a mystical artifact, hoping that the weakened Isabella would become dependent on her, fulfilling Lilian's desire for love. Lilian seriously did not expect Isabella would go missing during the upheaval. Ironically, the chain of events caused Isabella to despise Lilian and fall in love with Xiang Ye.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: She hides her usurpation plans behind her loyalty to Isabella.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Lilian consumes Libery to regain her energy and assumes a beautiful form... But moments later, she suffers from acute radiation poisoning. Her body becomes emaciated and is wracked with horrible pain, her right eyeball falls out and her hair is bleached.
  • Flat Character: She doesn't have much personality besides being abusive to everyone not named Isabella. She thinks she is in love with Isabella, but her idea of love is to enslave Isabella forever.
  • The Ghost: She is yet to be seen and appears as a silhouette in flashbacks. Not much is known about her except that she betrayed Isabella. She finally debuts in chapter 318-19.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: She was responsible for Isabella's De-power.
  • Insane Troll Logic: She really thinks that she can win Isabella's heart by stripping her of her powers and usurping her throne.
  • Irony: All of Lilian's actions are motivated to possess Isabella for herself, but they only make Isabella hate her more. In fact, Lilian was unwittingly responsible for getting Isabella together with Xiang Ye.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Lilian had drained Isabella's powers, ousted her as the queen, and killed her bodyguards in an attempt to have her for herself. Several months later, Lilian is reduced to a heavily irradiated head screaming in agony and most of her aides are either dead or have deserted. She loses her body and most of her powers, and is forced to watch Isabella reclaim her throne and propose a wedding ceremony with Xiang Ye.
  • Leave No Survivors: She wanted to have Isabella and kill all her followers, but failed narrowly.
  • Let's You and Him Fight: She gets the Regent to fight Isabella instead of doing it herself.
  • Nightmare Face: Tends to do that when she is angry.
  • Not Good with Rejection: Reacts poorly when Isabella states she likes Xiang Ye as her man.
  • Oh, Crap!: The moment Lilian suffers from radiation poisoning, courtesy of Xiang Ye.
  • Paranoia Gambit: She sends assassins, declares wars on other tribes, and generally agitates the world to get Isabella to come out of hiding and make the former demon queen yield to her.
  • Psycho Lesbian: It is revealed that Lilian was attracted to Isabella, but she couldn't handle her love being unrequited. Lilian decided to strip Isabella of her powers to make the former Demon Queen dependent on her. What she did not expect was that Isabella would go missing during the upheaval.
    • What is more creepy is that Lilian was a general who was assigned by George Osa to look after his concubine, who was pregnant with Isabella at that time.
  • The Starscream: She attacked the previous Demon Queen when she was unarmed and forced her to flee. Later, Lilian usurps Isabella's throne.
  • Stronger Than They Look: Lilian is supposedly the strongest general of the Demon Kingdom, but since she has never fought a battle, Isabella is unsure of her strength. Lilian does have a strong Healing Factor which can withstand Isabella's mighty blows and several fatal injuries.
  • Too Dumb to Live: She saw the battle between Xiang Ye and Raymond Sasso by reading Lolan's memories, knows that Raymond was laid low after eating his own nuked corpses, and Libery makes a point of saying the very same weapon was used against her. How does Lilian decide to respond? She eats the irradiated Libery alive, condemning herself to radiation poisoning.
  • The Usurper: She manages to expel Isabella from the Demon Tribe's by depowering her and joining forces with Tols Angus.
  • Xanatos Speed Chess: She had a faction of the Demon Tribe backing her before making her move. When peace negotiations took place, she then offered Tols Angus a deal to get him to back her.
  • Yandere: Lilian is obsessed with Isabella, claiming that only she is entitled to serve her. Which is strange considering she was the one who betrayed Isabella in the first place.

Isabella's surviving guards after she was betrayed and cornered by Tols Angus.

The 12 Pillars

     Bai Envy
The strategic pillar and archmage of the Demon Kingdom and an old friend of Vasily Andre. She doesn't support Lilian, but has no choice to protect her because if Lilian dies, she dies too.
  • The Archmage: Is this to the Demon Kingdom.
  • Face Framed in Shadow: She wears robes with a high collar and a wizard's hat with a wide brim, but her face is always covered in shadows, except for her red glowing eyes.
  • Spear Counterpart: To Vasily Andre. She too used to be a slave for the god race.
  • Wham Line: Believes Xiang Ye to be the person prophesized to overthrow the gods after watching his abilities.

     Libery
A magic pillar secretly modeled on Isabella by Lillian.
  • Body Horror: After being nuked by Xiang Ye, Libery looks like a melted Barbie doll with bald head and missing limbs. It is much more repulsive when Libery abandons her body to escape as a slug with only a mouth.
  • Break the Haughty: Is disdainful of Xiang Ye for being a human. Xiang Ye subjects her to painful nuclear radiation which horribly disfigures her and torments her.
  • Compliment Backfire: Xiang Ye tells her she's cute, like Isabella. She completely flips out in response.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: She is reduced to a slug after sustaining nuclear radiation from Xiang Ye. She is devoured by Lilian and in her dying moments, she realizes that Lilian never loved her.
  • The Dragon: To Lilian.
  • Identical Stranger: Except for her hairstyle and a single horn, Libery looks identical to Isabella, as intended by Lilian.
  • Psycho Lesbian: She is obsessed with Lilian and blames Isabella for stealing Lilian's love.
  • Romanticized Abuse: Has this relationship with Lilian. She endures Lilian's cruel flogging while being chained, believing it to be a gesture of love.

     Darkulo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/darkulo.png
The Demon Tribe Army's Shadow Pillar. He is ranked number 1 among the pillars.
  • The Ace: The strongest Pillar and the demon army. He also a student of George Osa, the previous rightful Demon King.
  • Badass Longcoat: He has a feathered coat that covers his entire upper body and is the strongest pillar.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: He is captured by Yalu, the refinery teacher, and brought to the lab for study at the end of the Empire vs Demon war arc. He escapes from his containment and acquires Yalu's Dark Crystal slime. In chapter 432, he uses this slime to attack the Dragon/Young King fusion, getting past the kid's defenses, and leaving the king vulnerable to Isabella and Xiang Ye's Combination Attack.
  • Clean Cut: He uses his scythe to cut even metallic constructs.
  • Cultured Badass: Darkulo is one of the strongest warriors of the Demon Kingdom. He is also seen playing the piano during Isabella's and Xiang Ye's wedding.
  • Eye-Obscuring Hat: His hat often covers his eyes.
  • Feather Motif: The feathers from his coat always precede him.
  • Perpetual Molt: His feathered coat is always dropping feathers.
  • Signature Headgear: He wears a hybrid of a sombrero and a cowboy hat. It contributes greatly to his nonchalance.
  • The Quiet One: He mostly stays quiet, even when caught off guard.
  • Real Politik: He sides with the one who has the best chances of protecting his clan from the God Tribe.
  • Sinister Scythe: His weapon of choice is a scythe with a ring made of bone.

     Raymond Sasso
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/raymond_sasso.png
The Demon Tribe Army's Corpse Pillar. He is ranked number 2 among the pillars.
  • Assimilation Backfire: Foregone Conclusion. In chapter 255, he assimilates his highly irradiated corpse kaiju for power in preparation to fight Xiang Ye, Isabella, Eli, Nai Nai, Aisha, and Sophisas. Twenty seven chapters later, the radiation finally kicks in.
  • Badass Boast: In chapter 255, his response to Xiang Ye's 20 kiloton nuke is "Okay. That was impressive, but I haven't actually started fighting yet."
  • Beat Them at Their Own Game: On the wrong end. He uses an "absorption" spell to try and suck up both Isabella and Xiang Ye into his "Inner World" to then torture at his leisure. Xiang Ye retaliates with a black-hole. From Xiang Ye's perspective, he blinks out in a matter of seconds, or less. From Raymond's perspective, he's getting torn apart molecule by molecule for all eternity!
  • Bequeathed Power: He wasn't born with the ability to manipulate corpses. He was given this ability by a high-ranking demon-tribe member after a lot of hard labor.
  • The Chessmaster: He manipulates situations to his advantage as much as possible before taking action. Unfortunately, he isn't really great at battle strategy.
  • Exact Words: He promises the demon army power, and when they say they want it, gives it to them by turning them into corpse puppets. When Kilyen objects to turning allied troops under his command into corpse puppets, he consumes them so Kilyen no longer has subordinates that are corpse puppets. At this point, Kilyen wisely stops objecting before Raymond makes things even worse, but is clearly not happy.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: He used to be a no-name slave, but after getting his corpse manipulation powers, quickly rose to be one of the 12 pillars.
  • Fusion Dance: He can fuse his Zombie Apocalypse army into Kaiju that breathe "Corrosive Corpse Breath." It bites him in the ass when he absorbs the radiation infected corpses from Xiang Ye's nuclear weapon.
  • Hollywood Tactics: He's got an army of thousands of undead demons, and corpses of other races who don't have to eat, sleep, or even breathe in any way, and he's facing the mobile dwarf city in a cave with no rear exit. Rather than take up a siege mentality and wait the dwarves out, try to smoke them out by using wind and fire magic to blow smoke into the cave, or even just simply look for any other cave structures he can exploit, he just commands his troops to Zerg Rush the heavily defended main entrance. He loses over half his army and his Balien corpse trump card in exchange for destroying a whopping '''15%''' of the defenses Xiang Ye has prepared, which he, Martin, or Kahn can simply forge back into existence with the pale moon stone.
  • It's All About Me: He sees his fellow demons as nothing more than stepping stones to his own legacy and power.
  • Necromancer: He can reanimate and control corpses.
  • Nepharious Pharaoh: He is an evil Pharaoh-looking humanoid.
  • Not Worth Killing: What he says when second prince Loland yells at him.
  • Rasputinian Death: He takes a direct impact from Xiang Ye's nuclear missile, several concussive blows from Sophisas and Isabella in her Demon Queen form, suffers from heavy radiation sickness, and is finally killed by Xiang Ye's miniature blackhole.
  • Red Baron: "The Corpse Pillar."
  • Resurrective Immortality: Sophisas states that he once managed to behead Raymond and the demon stood right back up again like nothing.
  • Romanticized Abuse: Is in a twisted relationship with Soso; he treats her like a precious object and she loves it. Her last words are her begging him to sacrifice her for power. This is as disturbing as it sounds.
  • Soul Eating: He can devour corpses to get stronger.
  • Spit-Trail Kiss: With Soso while they make out.
  • The Starscream: He's the one who comes to Lilian with an offer from Tols Angus to turn on Isabella.
  • Uncertain Doom: He did endure Xiang Ye's nuclear weapon, but did he escape the radiation...? Nope.
  • Unholy Matrimony: Appears to be in a relationship with Soso.
  • We Have Reserves: He sees his corpse army as nothing more than consumables. So whenever he faces any difficulty, it's always a game of endurance, will he run out of troops, or will his enemies be beaten? After all, when he runs out, he can always get more.
  • Zombie Apocalypse: Weaponized. He not only collects corpses to boost his army, he has them rise up out of the dirt and attack allied armies to turn them into corpse puppets too by infecting them, with a single bite.

     Balien
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/daimon_balien.png
The Demon Tribe Army's Diamond Pillar. He is ranked number 3 among the pillars.
  • Accidental Murder: He accidentally kills his underlings by emerging from below them. He was actually investigating Xiang Ye and Isabella's presence.
  • Back from the Dead: His body is reanimated by Raymond Sasso for his conquest of the Dwarf Tribe.
  • Blinded by Rage: Exploited. With some precision honed taunts, Xiang Ye makes him too angry to think straight, leading him into one pitfall after another.
  • Dumb Muscle: He possesses great physical power, but is not very bright.
  • Gem Tissue: His head and arms are covered by diamond.
  • Honor Before Reason: He could have easily gone around, or over, Xiang Ye's corridor with gateways of tempered glass, but if he did so, he would be admitting that he saw a human with no boundary force as a superior opponent to himself. His racism and fervent belief in his own superiority forced him to charge Xiang Ye's obstacle course head on. This led to him running head first into a huge tear-drop of tempered glass, and while he smashed his own diamond cover in the collision, Isabella chops his head off with her Useless Lumber sword.
  • Hulk Speak: His simplistic speech pattern accompanies his apparent lack of intelligence.
  • Lightning Bruiser: He is very strong and very fast, but unless he catches you by surprise, he can normally be easily avoided by an observant opponent.
  • Logical Weakness: In addition to his lack of intelligence, he has an easily exploitable weakness. He is capable of launching himself forward at terrific speeds causing massive impact damage when he lands a hit, but he can only rush forward in a straight line, has to deaccelerate and stop before he can turn and then telegraphs the fact that he's launching another attack when he flexes his legs as preparation to do so.
  • Never My Fault: He refuses to admit responsibility for his underlings' deaths and shifts the blame from himself over to Xiang Ye and Isabella.
  • Recognition Failure: Too late he recognizes that the "insolent human woman" he was fighting is Isabella...
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His naturally red eyes glow as he fights.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: He has immense physical strength but no technique and telegraphs all his moves.

     Kilyen
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kilyen.png
The Demon Tribe Army's Insect Pillar. He is ranked number 4 among the pillars. He is the older brother of Papate.

     Soso
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/soso.png
The Demon Tribe Army's Needle Pillar. She is ranked number 6 among the pillars.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Her needles can pierce metal.
  • Body Horror: Downplayed. She appears to be a voluptuous young woman despite her body being full of stitches.
  • Creepy Doll: The stitches in her body make her appears like a zombie-like doll.
  • Cyclops: She has one massive eye that has five irises in it.
  • Dead Guy Puppet: She loves to collect corpses to make dolls by stitching severed parts back together.
  • I Owe You My Life: Averted. She tells Isabella she does owe her her life, but views her love to Raymond as above that debt.
  • Multiarmed And Dangerous: She has 4 arms and is the middle ranking Demon Tribe general.
  • Romanticized Abuse: Is in a twisted relationship with Raymond; he treats her like a precious object and she loves it. Her last words are her begging him to sacrifice her for power. This is as disturbing as it sounds.
  • Spit-Trail Kiss: With Raymond Sasso while they make out.
  • Women Prefer Strong Men: She loves Raymond Sasso because of his strength and cunning.

     Bosmu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bosmu.png
The Demon Tribe Army's Ninja Pillar. He is ranked number 8 among the pillars.
  • Back from the Dead: His body is reanimated by Raymond Sasso for his conquest of the Dwarf Tribe.
  • Fatal Flaw: Showing off his abilities. This gave the cornered Barte an opportunity to kill him.
  • Flash Step:
    • His Flash allows him to move very quickly as if he teleported.
    • His Absolute Sidestep allows him to move side to side very quickly, leaving afterimages.
  • Fuuma Shuriken: He makes big Shuriken made of Upanisad.
  • Hellfire: His Upanisad magic conjures green inextinguishable flames that are also described as evil.
  • Joke Character: He is killed off quickly and without much effort, which prompts Xiang Ye to remark how unthreatening he is compared to the Ninja he sees in Manga.
  • Killed Offscreen: His death at the hands of Barte is not shown to the readers.
  • Necessary Drawback: Using his Upanisad fire prevents him from using any other techniques.
  • Ninja: He is called the Ninja Pillar and uses Ninjutsu magic such as fire and flash movements.
  • Playing with Fire: His Ninja Magic allows him to conjure inextinguishable green flames called Upanisad.
  • Power Floats: He is a Demon Tribe general who is able to float.
  • Technicolor Fire: His Upanisad is green fire.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: His reanimated corpse is destroyed quickly by Xiang Ye's missile silos.

     Mucus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mucus.png
The Demon Tribe Army's Slime Pillar. He is ranked number 9 among the pillars.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: He makes advances towards Soso, who is repulsed by him. He later does the same to Aisha, who is clearly not amused.
  • Attempted Rape: He uses the fact that his body's composed entirely of mucus to climb inside Aisha's clothing, to her clear horror. Fortunately, Nainai had flour on his hands from his earlier attempt to use a dust explosion against him, allowing Nainai to punch him in the face.
  • Blob Monster: He is a green slime of the Nigh Invulnerable variety.
  • Expy: Imagine Happosai reincarnated as a slime.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: His fellow Pillars don't respect him and find him annoying.
  • The Gadfly: He makes making remarks towards his fellow generals in the middle of a battle.
  • Gonk: He is a literal fat slob.
  • Logical Weakness: He has a few.
    • Ice magic freezes his mucus body, allowing him to contained.
    • Fine powder like flour binds to his mucus, allowing it to be handled, and allows his enemies to punch him.
  • Made of Diamond: To date, nothing used against him has had any lasting effect. Not even the heat and explosive force of a 20 kiloton nuke right to his face.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: He is immune to physical cuts and hits due to being a slime.
  • Power Perversion Potential: The fact that he's a sentient blob of mucus, able to shift his consciousness as he pleases, allows him to crawl along the ground, stare up a lady's dress, and then slither up her body and squeeze into her clothing, which he does to Aisha.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: He harbors a one-sided hatred towards Kilyen who merely finds him annoying. He resents him for interrupting his romantic advances towards Soso.
  • Super Spit: A lot of his attacks involve vomiting paralyzing slime towards his enemies.
  • Villain Has a Point: If it's okay for Nainai, Aisha, and Eli to attack him 3 to 1, then it's okay for him to use sneak attacks.

     Papate
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/papate.png
The Demon Tribe Army's Air Pillar. He is the younger brother of Kilyen.
