The Exiled Kombatants
In General
- The Atoners: They got plenty of issues that need to be addressed.

- Been There, Shaped History: Their actions in the Marvelverse Earth has had some significant changes in the long run:
- The Red Lotus assassinating Nitro and Walter Declan not only for their roles in the Stamford Incident, but to avenge several Red Lotus members operating a safehouse there.
- The Red Lotus also assassinated William Stryker before he could wage his war against the Xavier Institute during the Decimation storyline, thus inadvertently saving Wallflower's life.
- Johnny telling Danny Rand about the military registry (the alternative to the Superhuman Registration Act), thus allowing them not only major leeway against the Mighty Avengers, but Fort Burton also serves as a secure location for them to operate out of.
- As the war between the Avengers and the X-Men does not take place, both T'Challa and Storm are still married.
- The Red Lotus assassinating Nitro and Walter Declan not only for their roles in the Stamford Incident, but to avenge several Red Lotus members operating a safehouse there.
- Bullying a Dragon: Seriously. Don't Fuck With These People.
- The Chosen Ones: All are formerly Raiden's chosen champions with the exception of Ravenna.

Johnny Cage
- Action Dad: A devoted father to his daughters and Raiden's former champion.
- Affectionate Nickname: Gets away with calling Sonya "Baby". He also calls Cassie "Punkin". He is also known as "The King of San Francisco".
- Always Someone Better: Has no problem in admitting that Liu is the better fighter between the both of them.
- Benevolent Boss: Again, as the Chairman of Cage Incorporated.
- Bilingual Backfire: Speaks Edenian, which tips him to Mey being a Red Lotus agent.
- It Amused Me: Retains Mey on his payroll due to the aforementioned trope, but the fact that she's good at her job.
- The Champion: Retired martial arts champion and before that, Liu's successor as Raiden's champion.
- Combat Pragmatist: Has no qualms about fighting dirty against his enemies, a trait which he passes down to his wife and daughters.
- Hidden Depths: He's not as absorbed and shallow as most people think. Hell, he even managed to surprise Sonya, Liu and Kitana.
- Honest Corporate Executive: The Chairman of Cage Incorporated and is respected by his subordinates.
- Improbable Weapon User: Johnny uses a fire extinguisher during his match against Jarek, who is hopped-up on blood magik.
- Papa Wolf: Screw with his family and he'll show you just how dangerous he can be.
- Prophecies Are Always Right: Knew that Cassie would defeat Shinnok and of Raiden's inevitable corruption from Yao.
- The Rival: To Tony Stark, business-wise. Fighting-wise, he is this to both Iron Fist and Liu Kang.

Sonya A. Blade
- Action Mom: The mother to Cassie and Ravenna, and hasn't lost her step.
- And This Is for...: Does this to Kano in their final bout.
- An Offer You Can't Refuse: Aside from the huge payday that her husband is offering, what secures Deadpool's services is her signature smothered chicken chimichanga recipe.
- The Atoner: For being such a jerk towards Johnny and Cassie.
- Braids of Action: She's got it here.
- Brainwashed: By Raiden, later freed by Yao.
- Broken Pedestal: Carol Danvers saw her as this following the incident with Julia during the Initiative, but they've long since reconciled.
- Combat Pragmatist: Scrimped notes from her husband. Later teams up with Cassie to bring down Kano.
- Da Chief: Commander of S-F's Tactical Response Unit.
- Groin Attack: Being married to Johnny has rubbed off on her, as Sonya does this twice; the first to the Green Goblin, the second to Kano, using her husband's signature nut punch for the latter.
- It's Personal: When she and Cassie find out that Kano and his son raped, tortured and murdered Vera Briggs on Raiden's orders, she and Cassie personally sees that Kano and Darren are killed.
- Locked into Strangeness: Has purple eyes as a result of the Blood Code bonding to her body.

Cassandra Carlton "Cassie" Cage
- Affectionate Nickname: Addresses Captain America as "Blue". Her father still calls her "Punkin".
- The Aloner: Refuses to join either the Avengers or the X-Men due to the guilt of leaving her teammates behind.
- Battle Couple: With Simon Williams/Wonder Man.
- Berserk Button: Mind control is one. Harming her friends is another. Impersonate her…start praying.
- Combat Pragmatist: Has no problem in using her mutant powers in a fight, as Kano and her former teammates find out the hard way.
- Cool Big Sis: To Ravenna.
- Dark Action Girl: Mostly in the Omakes. But the most prominent example is when she and Ravenna burned Raiden alive.

- Genius Bruiser: A literal genius, mutant telepath and a skilled martial artist
- Little Miss Badass: When your teachers are your parents, your elder sister and two mutants who are certified ninjas, you sure as hell qualify.
- Meaningful Name: Named after the Italian town where her parents spent their honeymoon.
Rebecca Cage
- Hackette: She's a computer hacker who had hacked the S-F mainframe and downloaded the data at Johnny's behest.
- I Gave My Word: Promised Cassie that she would go straight, as she was a criminal hacker back in Earthrealm.
- Older Than They Look: Like her brother, Sonya and Cassie, she was in her late forties but de-aged to her twenties.
- The Unseen: For most of the story, she's an expatriate living in England with her family, overseeing the European branch of Cage Incorporated.
The Red Lotus Society (in general)

Jade

- Cruel and Unusual Death: Electrocuted and burned to death, mirroring Liu's own death back during Shao Kahn's invasion.
- Died in Your Arms Tonight: Dies in Kitana's arms.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Saves Kitana and Liu Kang from Shang Tsung's Flaming Skull attack, but is electrocuted/burned to death in a manner similar to Liu's own death during Shao Kahn's invasion.
- The Kindnapper: Kidnaps both Liu Kang and Kitana from the Netherrealm.
- Rape as Drama: Raped by Reiko during her time as an Outworld assassin, rendering her infertile.
Mey
- Benevolent Boss: Her opinion of Johnny.
- Bilingual Backfire: Speaks fluent Edenian, which tips Johnny off to her identity.
- Happily Adopted: She is Jade's adopted daughter.
- It Amused Me: One of the reasons why Johnny keeps her around. The second is that she is good at her job.
- The Mole: Works for Cage Incorporated as Johnny's assistant. Subverted in the fact that Johnny knew that Liu and Kitana sent her due to her speaking Edenian, of which Johnny himself also speaks. She becomes the liaison between Johnny and Liu.
- Undying Loyalty: First and foremost to the Red Lotus. Johnny Cage comes a close second.
- You Look Familiar: She's the little girl who delivers Liu and Kitana's message to Johnny and Sonya in San Francisco.
The Former Revenants
In General
- An Offer You Can't Refuse: Gets one from the Elder Gods. Agree to fight against Raiden…
- Back from the Dead: …and this is the result. But there is a catch…
- You Can't Go Home Again: The price is that you are forbidden from returning to Earthrealm, Outworld or any other realm.
- Anything but That!: Cassie and Sonya were not happy to find out that the Elder Gods were offering them as backup.

- If You Ever Do Anything to Hurt Her...: Threatens this on Liu Kang regarding Kitana.
Kung Lao
- Always Second Best: In his mind, to Liu Kang.
- The Reveal: He's the reincarnation of the Great Kung Lao.
- So Proud of You: Has this towards Kung Jin.
- Something Only They Would Say: Realizes that Liu is the real deal when the former reminds him that Shaolin Wushu is the better style.
Smoke and Enenra
- McNinja: He's a Czech-born ninja.
- Pet Monstrosity: The demonic-looking raven on his shoulder that has a habit of transforming into various animals? That's Enenra.
Kurtis Stryker
- Cowboy Cop: Back when he was alive the first time.
- Police Brutality: Yup. He's the God of this trope too.
Kabal
- Body Horror: Was burned to the point that he needed a respirator, but his body was healed once he was brought back to life.
- Dual Wielding: Wields a pair of hookswords.
- Heel–Face Turn: Before he was a cop, he was a Black Dragon member.
- Last of His Kind: Technically, he's the last of the Black Dragon despite not being with the group.
Sareena
- Because You Were Nice to Me: Aided Bi-Han when he spared her life.
- Cassandra Truth: Tried to warn the revenants of the impending Brotherhood invasion, but was locked up as a result.
Earthrealm
Raiden
- Ax-Crazy: Since the Jinsei's purification, he has become a power-hungry tyrant.
- Bad Boss: Appears nice to Kano and the Black Dragon, but secretly sold them out to the Red Dragon Clan and its leader, Daegon.
- Berserk Button: When Johnny Cage and his family bail out of Earthrealm, he was visibly outraged.
- Big Bad
- Broken Pedestal: He was once the defender of Earthrealm and mentor to Liu Kang and later on to Johnny Cage before both of them resigned their status as Raiden's champion.
- The Conqueror: Plans to invade the Marvelverse Earth, kill off the Exiled Kombatants and brainwash Cassie and Ravenna Cage.

- From Nobody to Nightmare: Was once Earthrealm's protector god and mentor to many of his champions, but following the Jinsei's corruption, he becomes a power-hungry tyrant who not only conquered Outworld, but is willing to kill the Exiled Kombatants just because one of them (Johnny Cage) resigned their status as his champion and the other is an ex-revenant (Liu Kang).
- Glowing Eyes of Doom
- God Is Evil: The Jinsei's corruption turned him into a cruel and remorseless god, who has ordered the deaths of the Exiled Kombatants.
- I Lied: Sold Kano and the Black Dragon out to Daegon and the Red Dragon.
- Lured into a Trap: Corrupts his champions by brainwashing them using Shinnok's amulet.

Not only this, but he has brainwashed several of his champions, invaded Outworld (by killing off Kotal Kahn), ordered the death of Vera Briggs and has Fujin imprisoned.

- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Raiden sold them out to the Red Dragon.
Kano
- Awful Truth: Does not take being stabbed in the back by Raiden (pun intended) too well.
- Big "NO!": Kano screams this as Sonya kills his son
- Cruel and Unusual Death: At the hands of Cassie Cage, of all people.
- Death by Irony: Killed by the daughter of his most hated rival.
- Did Not See This Coming: Not only the Cage family joining forces with the Red Lotus and having the Avengers, the X-Men and S.H.I E.L.D. backing them up, but also Raiden selling him out to the Red Dragon.

Kira

- A Taste of the Lash: His signature weapons.

- Irony: Got punched in the nuts again by a Cage. The only difference is that he was the one brainwashed alongside Jacqui.
