     Player Character
This person gets caught in a blizzard while traveling through the mountains. After being rescued by Kira and nursed back to health by Lissara, this character must help the village prepare itself for a massive snowstorm that can potentially wipe it out.

  • Ambiguous Gender: This character is never referred to with gender pronouns, and does not have any defining features that suggest gender.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Starts on the receiving end of this. Later on there are two different events that, if successfully completed, result in you saving a villager from death.
  • Brutal Honesty: One of the events involves giving the news to the families of Lissara's patients. This trope is the wrong choice.
  • But Now I Must Go: In the middle ending (most of the village survives but lots of homes were destroyed), you leave since the storm has cleared.
  • Fiery Redhead: The player character has red hair, and a few of the event options (throwing a doomsayer out of the bar, lifting heavy rocks, etc) come off as fiery.
  • Guile Hero: Two of the options for the morale events involve deception (watering down beer so workers can focus tomorrow, downplaying the health problems villagers are facing so their families aren't upset, etc).
  • The Heart: Raising the village's morale to 100% is how you get the best ending.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: You have to name the player character. There isn't even a default filler name.
  • I Choose to Stay: Possibly. If you raise the village morale to 100% then everyone survives and no buildings are damaged. The other three characters offer to let you stay permanently, but the screen goes to black without showing whether or not you accepted their offer.
  • Instant Expert: Becomes very strong, agile, charismatic, and skilled with medicine in just twenty days.
  • Lying to Protect Your Feelings: When Lissara asks you to give hard news to the families of her patients, doing this while having enough charisma will raise morale.
  • The Millstone: If you fail enough of the morale events then the village gets wiped out by the storm.
  • Mysterious Past: Downplayed. You do have a past and a reason for traveling through the mountains, and you do reveal it to Kira and to her father when they ask about it ... the audience just never learns about it.
  • Deadly Gas: If you have high enough intelligence then you in one event you can protect Kira from wolves with this.
  • Strong and Skilled: If enough time is spent helping the Chieftain in the mines and helping Lissara with medicine.

     Kira
The hunter in the village and the Chieftian's daughter. She's the one who found you when you get caught in the snow. You help her with with hunting to store food for the village.

  • Action Girl: She takes on one of the most physical and dangerous jobs in her village, though the player will still need to help her a few times to get the best ending.
  • Hunter Trapper: The role she plays in the village, providing food and furs for the people.
  • Scars Are Forever: If you fail the event where you get cornered by wolves, they claw up her face. She has a scar for the rest of the game after that.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: With Lissara, she's a huntress while Lissara is a alchemist.

     Lissara
The Alchemist in the village and Kira's friend. You help her with medicine to treat sick and injured villages.

  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: The only blond character shown, very kind to the player character, and in a profession that involves helping others.
  • The Medic: Her role in the village.
  • No Social Skills: Asks the player to deliver the prognosis to the families of her patients for her. Later admits that it's been a long time since she had a conversation that didn't involve medicine.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: With Kira, she's a alchemist while Kira is a huntress.

     Chieftian
The leader of the village and Kira's father. You help him with mining to gather the supplies needed to fortify the village.

  • Defrosting Ice Queen: If you succeed at enough events then he apologises for intitally thinking you would be another mouth to feed. Even if you fail all the events, he still takes time to ask his daughter Kira how she's feeling and to apologise for being hard on her at times.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He seems pretty distant and unfriendly when the player first meets him but its clear he cares deeply about his daughter and wants desperately to save the village. Near the end of the game he even apologizes to the player for being cold to them earlier.

     Fox Cub
A fox that you can optionally rescue from a trap in the woods.

  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: You have to name the fox. But it's name only comes up once at the end.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: If you successfully save the fox cub then it raises the village's morale and everyone dotes on it.
  • Team Pet: It can become this if the player saves it, boosting morale for the whole village as well as the main characters.
