The wife of Roger and the mother of Ben. While in her seventh month of pregnancy with Ben, she and her husband were hiking through a forest outside of Portland when she went into premature labor. Roger delivered the child in the woods, but Emily suffered complications. Roger helped Emily and the baby to the side of a highway and flagged down Horace and Olivia Goodspeed for assistance. Before the Goodspeeds could drive the Linus family to the hospital, Emily died. Her dying words were a request that Roger name their son Benjamin.
- Character Death: Emily dies during childbirth.
- Dead Person Conversation: With Ben. She appears to him on the island, and talks to him.
- Death by Childbirth: Ben came early while she was on a hike with her husband, and she died just after his birth.
- Death by Origin Story: For Ben. She died shortly after giving birth to him.
- Happily Married: Although we didn't see much of her, Emily and Roger appeared to have a very loving marriage considering they were about to have their first child and her death completely destroys Roger.
- Posthumous Character: She died decades before the plane crash, but that doesn't stop her from having an effect on the story.
- Missing Mom: To Ben, because she's...y'know...dead.
- Morality Chain: She was this for Roger. Her death reduces him to an abusive, alcoholic, pitiful excuse for a human being.
- The Lost Lenore: For both Roger and Ben, who miss her terribly.
