Now, let's go! We'll make a "Miracle" happen!
Once one of the most legendary, powerful, and popular groups in the academy's history, they disbanded 3 years ago, though their legacy lives on well into the present. Aside from their incredible spells and control over magic, they were the only unit capable of infusing their voices with magic, a feat that has yet to be replicated.
    open/close all folders

    In General
  • The Ace: Well-known as one of the most powerful, talented, and beloved idol groups to have come from Flora Girls' Academy.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: The group disbanded 3 years before Tiara's enrolling in the academy due to Eliza's retiring to focus on her role as future queen. Their members either moved on to adult life (such as Chloe becoming the school's new director) or were forced to find another group (like Ange, who now goes by "Angelica" as she performs in Sadistic☆Candy).
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: As Chloe points out, all of them had rather peculiar quirks. This does not stop them from becoming one of the most renowned units in history. In detail:
    • Eliza loves her little sister, Tiara, to almost obsessive degrees, constantly talking about her and mentioning that her pushing the boundaries of magic and performances are all for her sake.
    • Chloe was a Chuunibyou who has a penchant for overly dramatic gestures and Purple Prose.
    • Camilla is a massive narcissist who acts incredibly rude and dismissive to others, frequently threatening them with violence and even death by ritual suicide.
    • Ange was a Child Prodigy who suffered from Chronic Hero Syndrome, constantly and eagerly assisting everyone that had need of her Healing Hands to the point where an entire city district of people don't hesitate to ask her for help for even the most minor of problems, because they know she'll be happy to oblige.
    • Yuzuriha is a predatory lesbian with a special taste for any women not native to Yamato and had absolutely no qualms about indulging it in public whenever the mood strikes her.
  • Famed In-Story: Their reputation as a unit preceeds them, as well as casting a shadow across several characters who currently attend the school. Several of them were also mentored or taught by them, such as Tiara and Yue (Eliza), Millefeuille (Chloe), Salsa (Camilla), and Kaede (Yuzuriha).
  • Five-Man Band:
    • The Leader: Eliza. She was the most charismatic and authoritative of the group, capable of keeping them and their wildly different personalities in line, along with being a skilled witch and performer, frequently inventing new spells for their Orchestras.
    • The Lancer: Chloe. Her cooler and more cynical view helped keep the unit and their members grounded and from becoming too complacent with their constant successes and as implied by her current position as Director of Flora Girls' Academy, she contributed a lot to keeping the group on track and organized.
    • The Big Guy: Camilla. She was both one of the tallest and most physically-strong members of the group as a vampire, along with having the arrogant and self-assured personality these character types are typically known for.
    • The Smart Guy: Yuzuriha. She was incredibly perceptive, intelligent, and studious, particularly when foreign cultures are involed. She's also incredibly charming and manipulative when it comes to getting what she wants, such as foreign women.
    • The Heart: Ange. She was the youngest, most pure, and innocent of the group alongside their extremely skilled healer. As much as she could soothe wounds, however, she was also fond of making fun of the others for her amusement.
  • Foreign Culture Fetish: Camilla is obsessed with Yamato culture, Yuzuriha is obsessed with Western culture (and Western women as well). The two of them are especially fond of each other if they're not fighting over their wildly clashing views of how the other should be.
  • Friendly Rivalry: Camilla and Yuzuriha were known to clash frequently due to their opposing ideals. Camilla loves Yamato culture and wishes Yuzuriha would act more like the Ojou she is, while Yuzuriha loves Western culture and would love nothing more than for Camilla to fully embrace that than her home country Yamato's culture. In spite of this, they were said to make an excellent duo.
  • Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: While their stage outfits look like delicate and elaborate dresses, they're actually armor against Magical Beast attacks, and do not inhibit the fighting prowess of their wearers. Special mention goes to Chloe, who wears heels and a long skirt, but is still capable of incredible acrobatics and kick-based attacks.
  • Light Feminine Dark Feminine: Yuzuriha and Camilla respectively. It's just one of their many contrasts such as East/West, tall/short, masculine/feminine.
  • Pervert Revenge Mode: In Episode 12, after Yuzuriha tries to trick Eliza into a Bedmate Reveal, Eliza is quick to violently retaliate—not that Yuzuriha minds. Chloe's dialog and actions imply this happens often enough that anyone who's not the main victim just comments on it then ignores it.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: As reflected by the lack of similarity in their stage outfits, they're a group of wildly different personalities that can still work together and are all the better for it.
  • Red Baron: Each of them has a nickname from their days performing in Ray.
    • Eliza - "The Scarlet Songstress"
    • Chloe - "The Azure Reaper from Hell"
    • Ange - "The Little Archangel"
    • Camilla - "The Immaculate Prince"
    • Yuzuriha - "The Graceful Dancing Princess"
  • Royal Blood: Eliza is the 1st Princess of Waleland and Yuzuriha is a Princess of Yamato.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: As former students of Flora Girls' Academy, Princesses Eliza and Yuzuriha actively served in the defense of Waleland, its allies, and other countries such as Ryuuto. They also mentored some younger witches like Yue (Eliza) and Kaede (Yuzuriha).
  • Signature Move: The Aria technique, infusing their voices with their spells to supercharge their magic. It's incredibly physically taxing which is why they're the only ones that have been able to use it so far.
  • The Performer Princesses: Eliza and Yuzuriha are both princesses, whose live shows and magical skills are equally important in the security and prosperity of their kingdoms and their allies.

    Eliza

Let me introduce myself again: I am Eliza, this country's first princess.

Voiced by: Kana Hanazawa

Country of Origin: Waleland
Age at time of Disbandment: 17
Former School Club: Choir
The former leader of Ray, once known as the "Scarlet Songstress". In spite of her younger sister Tiara's idolizing her and wanting to follow in her footsteps, she does her best to discourage her.
  • Aloof Big Sister: She is currently this to Tiara after years of being a loving, doting sister. One has to imagine that her disbanding Ray 3 years ago has to do with it, alongside Tiara's poor health in childhood and the mortal dangers witches face on a regular basis. There's also the fact that she lost her voice trying to heal Tiara without giving herself sufficient time to recover after saving Ryuuto.
  • Anti-Magic: She can dispel certain spells, as evidenced when she blocked Lynette's Forced Sleep spell from affecting her.
  • Big Sister Instinct: She is highly protective of Tiara considering how many long hours she's spent by Tiara's bedside, trying to heal her and soothe her frequent bouts of illness. She was also highly against Tiara entering Flora Girls' Academy where she'd be put in danger and forced to exert herself and in Episode 11 is eventually revealed to have been sabotaging Tiara at Flora Girls' Academy to force her to stay in Bristol, out of a misguided desire to keep her safe.
  • Blood from the Mouth: A flashback to her time living in Ryuuto shows her coughing up blood. She was also seen coughing in other flashbacks. This was foreshadowing for her damaging her voice from excessive use, to the point where she lost it completely and relies on a vocalizer like Maryberry's Berry Board.
  • Blow You Away: She is shown capable of generating gales of wind strong enough to knock Ashley flying.
  • Career-Ending Injury: Ray's disbandment was due to her losing her voice from excessive use of the Aria technique, both in saving Ryuuto from Magical Monsters then healing Tiara with it until Eliza physically could not.
  • Cast from Hit Points: Using the Aria spell to cure Tiara's chronic illness ends up putting so much physical strain on her voicebox that she has irreparably damaged it.
  • King Incognito: She is known to frequently mingle among the masses while in disguise, clearly to hide the fact that she is the first princess of Waleland.
  • Lord Country: Like Tiara, her family name is Waleland, the name of the country their family rules over.
  • Mysterious Protector: She acts like this to the students who came after her, putting on disguises and offering useful advice in their times of need. In the anime, she is seen a few times in the background clearly watching over Tiara and in Episode 6, there is a shot of her in the hall outside Chloe's office after she leaves the door unlocked for Lavie to find the map. Subverted with LiGHTs when Episode 11 reveals she's been actively trying to get them expelled.
  • Ojou: She's talented, refined, and caring, perfect traits for a leader of a group and a first princess.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Despite her penchant for disguises, she never tries to disguise her long red hair. That said, given the myriad of hair colors in the series, she does not stand out as easily as she would in real life.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite defeating Ashley and Lynette, she allows them to reunite with Tiara instead of throwing them out of the castle or locking them up for trespassing.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: As befitting the crown princess, she wears an elaborate red dress as her daily outfit in Castle Bristol. Among other things, it has a multi-layered skirt that spirals outward like an upside-down rose in bloom, a transparent stole that wraps around her upper arms but leaves her shoulders exposed, and a necklace with an emerald the size of a child's hand with golden tassels.
  • Weapon Specialization: As shown in Episode 10, her weapon of choice is a whip with the cord made out of magic.
  • Wig, Dress, Accent: Her disguises oftentimes involve wearing glasses (either opaque shades or clear lens), commoner's clothes, and sometimes hoods. That said, one of her hobbies is collecting disguises.

    Chloe

Being a good example to our students, that is our duty as teachers.

Voiced by: Yoshino Nanjo

Country of Origin: Marlseillu
Age at time of Disbandment: 17
Former School Club: Drama
The current Director of Flora Girls' Academy. Beneath her cool, icy exterior is a kind, compassionate educator who does her best to provide the best for her students. She continues communicating with Eliza and Angelica even after the disbandment of their group.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: When she was a student, she was insistent on getting everyone to call her the "Azure Reaper from Hell". Three years later, now that she's trying to put those cringe-inducing days behind her, people are finally calling her that.
  • Cassandra Truth: In Episode 11, she points out that Angelica is actually quite skilled as a witch, hence her decision to have her perform at the Ceaster Festival. Most of the unit leaders naturally refuse to believe this initially, due to Angelica's reputation for laziness and truancy. It takes her divulging the fact that Angelica is Ange of Ray to fix that perception.
  • Childhood Friends: With Millefeuille. She was also her mentor before and she had a direct hand in the creation of supernova.
  • Chuunibyou: When she was still a student, she was fond of incredibly silly, dark theatrics, as befitting a drama club member.
  • Combat Stilettos: She wears heels in her stage outfit and has no issues fighting in and leaping around the battlefield in them. They were likely designed for causing serious damage as much as elegant style.
  • Consummate Professional: As school director, she's well-known and feared for her extremely strict, professional attitude towards her students. Inside, she really does care about their development and wants them to succeed but doesn't let herself show this more emotional, sentimental side.
  • Dark Magical Girl: She fancied herself as this, if her insistence that she be called "The Azure Reaper from Hell" is anything to go by. In practice, she was unquestionably a Large Ham Chuunibyou.
  • Deathbringer the Adorable: Downplayed. Back when she was a student and a Chuunibyou, her nickname, the "Azure Reaper from Hell" hardly befitted her. It only became more relevant after she became the school's director and cultivated a reputation as a strict disciplinarian.
  • The Dreaded: As the school director, her students fear her for her cool, no-nonsense, and incredibly strict style of leadership, and they now fear her nickname, "The Azure Reaper from Hell".
  • Flower Motifs: Blue Roses, which are frequently used to describe something that is impossible.
  • Improbable Age: She is the current Director of Flora Girls' Academy, in spite of being around her 20's. This is chalked up to her past as a member of Ray and the leader Eliza's second-in-command.
  • Kick Chick: She appears to fight exclusively through kicks, even enhancing her shoe with magic to do so.
  • Large Ham: Back when she was still being a Chuunibyou, her speech and actions were extremely exaggerated and over the top.
  • Not So Above It All: Even though she's long left behind the theatrics of her youth, she's not above laughing at Angelica when she tries to pull off one of her old "cute" acts now that she's not so cute and tiny anymore.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: Her Chuunibyou mannerisms. Back when she was a student, she thought it was cool, but as an adult, they are a source of embarrassment and a reminder of her youthful folly. Angelica never lets her forget it, and isn't above shattering her image as the cool and collected school director to rile her up.
  • Power Glows: Her feet glow with blue flames when she enhances her kicks with magic.
  • Purple Prose: She used to speak like this, using overly flowery and theatrical speech even in casual conversation.
  • Scary Shiny Glasses: At her most intimidating or annoyed, her glasses lenses turn opaque; with Angelica, she also reverts to her old Chuunibyou-flavored Purple Prose.
  • Secret-Keeper: She's one of the few people in the school that know of Angelica's past as Ange of Ray. She lets Tiara in on the secret in Episode 8 after catching Angelica eavesdropping on her reminescing about Ray, and tells the rest of the unit leaders in Episode 11 to justify Angelica's presence at the Ceaster Festival, after they criticized her for her (perceived) lack of ability.
  • Self-Applied Nickname: She came up with her nickname, the "Azure Reaper from Hell", on her own, but it only really caught on after Ray disbanded and she became the school's director.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: While LiGHTs took Sadistic☆Candy's place for the summons and performed admirably, Chloe doesn't let slide the fact that Lavie stole a map out of her office to enable this, and deducts more points from the group than they earned by going on the mission in the first place.

    Ange
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ange_7.png
Eheheh. Ange is angel happy ☆

Voiced by: Yuka Amemiya

Country of Origin: Waleland
Age at time of Disbandment: 15
Former School Club: Health Committee
The youngest member of Ray and a child prodigy, she was best known for her pure and innocent personality that led to her being called the "Little Archangel" of the group. For her current state, see "Angelica" under Sadistic☆Candy in the Main Character Page.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Her appeal in the group was her being the "pure, innocent, and cute" member, especially with her being so young and a Child Prodigy as well.
  • Catchphrase: "Kyarurun, Ange's here ☆" and also "Hello, hello!" (in English), both greetings. The former is used on-stage, the latter in daily life.
  • Child Prodigy: She was famous for being incredibly talented and intelligent for her age.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: She loves being needed and assisting people in need to the point where people don't think twice about using her incredible powers and skills for the most basic and petty of problems like a hangover cure, since they know she'll be happy to oblige.
  • Girlish Pigtails: As part of her young, innocent appeal and her generally, intentionally childish behavior.
  • Gratuitous English: Her second catchphrase, "Hello, hello!" is spoken in English while the rest of the audio is in Japanese.
  • Healing Hands: Her specialty, which was part of the reason she was called an angel by her fans. It's implied she can heal anything, from arthritic knees, bleeding head injuries, alcohol-induced hangovers, and whatever else might be ailing you. The only known exception so far is wisdom teeth.
  • Heroic BSoD: Suffered one when trying to save Lucifer from her out of control powers; too emotionally overwhelmed and horrified, she froze while the others were forced to act without her. See her entry above as "Angelica" for how she's dealing with it at present.
  • Magical Gesture: From a young age, she was capable of the rare and highly advanced skill of silent casting, only needing to hold her hands to guide her spells.
  • Older Than They Look: While she is The Baby of the Bunch, it's easy to forget she is 15 and not any younger with her appeal being the "pure, innocent, and cute" member and childlike behavior.
  • Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: Both her name and her nickname reference angels from Christianity, particularly their more modern reputation for performing healing miracles and generally being sweet, innocent, pure individuals.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Her name in English is either Ange (mostly fan used) or Angers (official subs and media). The confusion mostly comes from the Japanese text used to spell her name and the pronouncation in the Japanese audio having no "-su" sound or anything close to it.
  • Sweet Tooth: Like many young children, she's incredibly fond of sweets, having bought a very large bag of them to eat all by herself in Episode 8.
  • Verbal Tic: "Angel/Angeligcally" which she randomly uses as an adjective/adverb to sound cute. Amusingly, Ray's fans have called her out on this. She's also fond of childish onomatopoiea like "rururu" when she casts her spells, also just to sound cute as she can silently cast via Magical Gesture.
  • Walking Spoiler: Knowing anything about her spoils the fact that she would grow up to become Angelica.

    Camilla
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/camilla_8.png
Hmph. Don't talk to me with such familiarity, emergency ration.

Voiced by: Sumire Uesaka

Country of Origin: Dortdgard
Age at time of Disbandment: 18
Former School Club: Tea Ceremony
A vampiric noble, once known as the "Immaculate Prince". She has an arrogant and prideful personality and a very large female fan base but is only interested in the pleasure of captivating others.
  • Attention Whore: She enjoys attracting large hordes of adoring fans for the pleasure of captivating others, nothing more.
  • Boyish Short Hair: Has this as part of her Bifauxnen appearance.
  • Bifauxnen: She has a very masculine attitude, appearance, and voice, leading to a very large female fan-base.
  • Childhood Friends: With Emilia. Unlike the other characters, however, Emilia did not end up studying under her, and instead took on Emilia's friend Salsa.
  • Cool Big Sis: Acts like this to all of IV KLORE, who she all inspires, gives advice to, and orders around from time to time, usually to protect the image of her fellow demi-humans.
  • Dark Magical Girl: She's a vampire, she's manipulative, she's got dark powers but they are unquestionably turned for good.
  • It's All About Me: She was quite the self-centered narcissist, performing for the sake of boosting her ego with her fans' attention and adoration. She casually insulted them (by referring to them as "emergency rations" or "blood bags"), was rude to them (such as telling them to be quiet when their cheering interrupted her focus in a bumpball match), and outright threatened them with violence (such as her obession with ritual suicide), but she was far from villainous and remains beloved to this day.
  • Large Ham: As befitting her background as a noblewoman and a vampire, she's very dramatic and theatrical, such as condemning those that annoy her to be dragged through the streets or declaring they'll perform ritual suicide with her assistance.
  • Magical Eye: As part of her vampiric powers. It's unknown if she uses it to help charm her audience or if she doesn't really need to considering everything else.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: She prefers tea over blood. It's not made clear whether or not she needs blood to survive.
  • Vampire Monarch: She is a daughter of vampiric aristocracy.

    Yuzuriha
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yuzuriha.png
I absolutely adore Western culture! It made studying abroad so worthwhile ♡

Voiced by: Ayane Sakura

Country of Origin: Yamato
Age at time of Disbandment: 18
Former School Club: Cabaret (founder)
The Princess of Yamato, known as the "Graceful Dancing Princess". In spite of her gentle, proper, and ladylike mannerisms, she has a massive love of Western culture and the women especially. She is also the founder of the school's Cabaret Club.
  • Bedmate Reveal: She once snuck into Eliza's bunk and tricked her into hugging her close to her chest while thinking that she was Tiara. Eliza kicks her out of her top bunk upon discovering this, and proceeds to grab her legs while stamping on her stomach. Chloe, who witnessed the whole thing, implies that she has subjected other members of Ray to similar behavior as well.
  • Berserk Button: Her age is a sore spot for her but she takes comfort in her young appearance.
  • Hime Cut: As befitting a princess of her country, she has the traditional style with the bangs and very long hair, even if her beliefs and attitude is anything but.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: You wouldn't know it by how cute and innocent she looks, she studied abroad for the Western Culture and the Western women. She openly talks about her womanizing tendencies and even started the academy's Cabaret club, which holds traditional performances as well as acting as a hostess club that has exclusively female staff members and clientele so "things don't get weird", according to Champe.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: She's quite open about her "particular hobbies" and is willing to seduce anyone that catches her interest, even in public. She's currently traveling to foreign countries to indulge them while "studying" their cultures. Episode 12 show's she's not above repeatedly sexually harassing her teammates to the point where her current victim doesn't think twice about swift, violent retaliation and everyone else just shrugs it off before going back to the way they were.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Not because she's unaware of it, mind you but because she just doesn't particularly care when she wants to take someone back to the cabaret for "service". She claims it's "only skinship".
  • Ojou: Womanizing and fetishization of western culture and women aside, she is the picture of a proper young lady from Yamato, especially because she's the princess.
  • Older Than They Look: With her sweet, innocent appearance and small stature, you'd be forgiven for thinking she's not an adult. Her personality, however, is much more in line with her age.
  • Questionable Consent: Episode 8 of the anime depicts her massaging a student who catches her fancy until she is dazed and cannot think or walk straight. She then proposes that they head over to the cabaret, to which said student acquiesces, likely unable to fully grasp what Yuzuriha is asking of her.
  • Race Fetish: Explicitly into Western women, so much so that she created a club to help facilitate her womanizing.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: After she attempts a Bedmate Reveal on Eliza, Eliza unceremoniously kicks Yuzuriha off her top bunk to the floor. After Eliza dismisses Yuzuriha's poor excuses then starts pulling at her legs and stepping on her stomach, Yuzuriha says, "This isn't too bad either!"
  • Walking the Earth: After a stint of mentoring witches in her home country Yamato, she is currently traveling the world and "studying" foreign cultures.
