    Nadeshiko Kagamihara
Voiced by Yumiri Hanamori
A girl who recently moves into Yamanashi and got an interest in camping due to a chance meeting with Rin.
  • Animal Motif: She's compared to a dog due to being excitable and easily distracted.
  • Big Eater: She shows her appetite twice in the third episode: first by eating dozens of gyoza, then asking Sakura to buy her fried rice, pudding, fried potatoes, chips, cake, ice cream, and ramen for breakfast, although Sakura only buys her rice balls and tea.
  • The Ditz: She doesn't appear to be very bright; nearly the first thing we know about her is her not bringing a cell phone nor having any meaningful amounts of cash when she cycles in the countryside of a place she moved into a day ago.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Rin first runs into her napping outside a public restroom facility at a campsite. After she learns about Nadeshiko's situation, she offers her some food, which Nadeshiko eats with joy.
  • Floral Theme Naming: She's named after a pink carnation.
  • Formerly Fat: As a side effect of Big Eater and the justification of her biking hobby and being Stronger Than They Look. When she was living in Shizuoka, Sakura had her bike around its countryside to lose weight.
  • Genki Girl: She's always the most energetic girl of the OutClub.
  • Girlish Pigtails
  • Heavy Sleeper: She can sleep through anything.
  • In-Universe Nickname: Fujikko, due to the large number of Mount Fuji souvenirs she bought after the events in the third episode.
  • Ironic Name: Despite her given name literally being one half of Yamato Nadeshiko, she's too ditzy for it, as commented by many characters in-universe.
  • Location Theme Naming: Kagamihara is usually associated with a medium-sized city in central Japannote .
  • New Transfer Student: She moves into Yamanashi in November, in the middle of the Japanese school year.
  • Nice Girl: Nadeshiko is a bundle of joy wrapped in enthusiasm.
  • Overwhelming Exception: For most of the first season, Nadeshiko is the only girl that would be able to camp with Rin. She becomes so dear to Rin that the mere mention of her by Ena makes Rin consider camping in a group. Keep in mind that Rin would not consider it even when Ena asked her by herself.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Nadeshiko is a kind, energetic girl with pink hair.
  • Running Gag: Her tendency to enjoy eating just about anything usually gets a comment from Rin about how she makes whatever she's eating look a lot tastier than it might be, such as a cup of instant noodles. This is one of the reasons Rin is so fond of her.
  • Stronger Than They Look: In the fourth episode, Chiaki and Aoi are surprised of her running around with the camping supplies when the two are starting to get exhausted. The two even discuss having her carry their gear for them.
  • Team Chef: She has been cooking for others every time she goes camping.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: She has pink hair.

    Rin Shima
Voiced by Nao Touyama
A girl who often camps alone in campsites around where she lives. She got her camping skills (and camping gear) from her grandfather, and also works at a bookstore.
  • Adorkable: The instances where she's shown camping alone are notable due to them showing how dorky her sense of humor is.
  • Bookworm: Reading is her second hobby after camping. Suspense is her favorite genre.
  • Cool Bike: Downplayed. The intention remains the same, but since she's too young to ride a motorcycle, she rides a Yamaha Vino scooter.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Does this towards dogs.
    • In episode two, she sees two of them coming towards her after spotting them nearby. The first dog's leash is too short to reach her, so it's stopped a short distance away from her. Rin smirks at the poor pup's misfortune, but the second one's leash is much longer, and it ends up ramming into her.
    • When Rin sees another dog in a van in front of her, she plays with it by weaving her motor scooter left and right at intersections to see the dog change places in the back seats to see her.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: She camps by herself at the start of the show, and early on is disgusted by the idea of camping with others. But as she starts to get to know the others more, she gradually warms up to them and is more willing to go camping with them.
  • Determinator: Proportionally to the ambience of the series. Rin loves camping so much that she's willing to ride a scooter in fall/winter temperatures to reach her desired locations. This is the object of much praise from the Outdoors Club girls.
  • Eloquent in My Native Tongue: A rather amusing example, Rin is stiff, laconic and comes across as somewhat grumpy in regular conversation, but her conversations by text message are a lot livelier and more openly friendly.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Nadeshiko, as most of the stuff that she does makes Rin happy. Nadeshiko's enthusiasm is such that it endears Rin to her, and makes Rin want more friends like her.
  • In-Series Nickname: Chiaki loves to call her "Shimarin".
  • Location Theme Naming: The name "Shima" is mostly associated with the Shima peninsula or the town associated with it.
  • Not So Stoic:
    • She may not speech or emote much, but her playing along with Ena's trolling in the second episode indicates she's actually quite lively inside.
    • She is inflexible in her solo camping, except when it comes to Nadeshiko.
  • Older Than She Looks: Rin happens to look like a middle schooler at best (to Sensei's sister), and an elementary schooler at worst (to Nadeshiko). If anything, she's by far the most mature of the main cast.
  • The Quiet One: She does speak, but compared the rest of the cast she's very quiet.
  • Through His Stomach: Played with. One of the reasons Rin becomes fond of Nadeshiko is due to the boundless joy Nadeshiko expresses every time she feeds her and how much she loves the food that she and Rin share. So, Nadeshiko won over Rin through her own stomach.
  • Shy Blue-Haired Girl: Rin is a blue-haired loner girl.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair

Ena Saito

Voiced by Rie Takahashi
Rin's tomboyish friend.

Chiaki Oogaki

Voiced by Sayuri Hara
The founder of the Outdoor Activities Club.
  • Adorkable: She's the dorkiest and most playful of the four girls, which doesn't sit well with Rin initially.
  • Girlish Pigtails
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: Downplayed, but she often tries to act cooler and more experienced than she really is. Despite her position as leader, all of the others (even Nadeshiko) are more savvy about camping than she is.
  • The Leader: She's the president of the Outdoors Club, and she's usually the one who encourages the girls to camp.
  • Location Theme Naming: As lampshaded in the tenth episode's Stinger, her name comes from a city in southern Gifu.
  • Meganekko: Wears a rather large pair.
  • Nervous Wreck: During her job interview, she's so nervous that when prompted to sit on a bottle crate box, she forgets to turn it and plunges into the box.
  • Ridiculous Procrastinator: Often puts off studying for tests; Aoi recounts that this is something she's done all the time with her.
  • Advertisement:
  • Verbal Tic: Courtesy of her VA, Chiaki has a characteristically nasal and playful way of speaking which closely reflects her jokey, dorky personality.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Her hair is a deep shade of violet.

Aoi Inuyama

Voiced by Aki Toyosaki
The only other member of the Outdoor Activities Club.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: So big that it's sometime visible across hats.
  • Buxom Is Better: Downplayed. Even when she's considerably shapelier than all her friends and even their teacher, this is not brought up even considering the fact that it's an all-girls cast. The anime just isn't about that.
  • Cute Little Fang: Appears even when her mouth is closed; due to the art style it looks like a triangular flap of skin hanging off her upper lip. It also runs in the family, as evidenced by her little sister.
    • Also applies to her Japanese voice actress in real life.
  • In-Series Nickname: Chiaki calls her "Inuko" (Dog Girl); according to the manga she's been doing it since the two first met.
  • Kansai Regional Accent: A weird example since she's originally from Gifu, which straddles the boundary between eastern and Western Japan. There's no in-universe justification for it, it's just how she talks.
  • Location Theme Naming: As lampshaded in the tenth episode's Stinger, her name comes from the city just south of the aforementioned Kagamihara, on the other side of the prefectural boundary.
  • Oddly Visible Eyebrows: She's the only charater of the cast to have these, which highlights her Big Ol' Eyebrows.

Sakura Kagamihara

Voiced by Marina Inoue

Nadeshiko's level-headed sister.

Rin's Grandfather/The Narrator

Voiced by Akio Ohtsuka

Rin's grandfather who seems to be the reason why Rin is interested in camping in an early age. Ohtsuka also performs the anime's narration; and since the narration is always about camping skills, it's probably narrated by the grandfather.

Minami Toba

Voiced by Shizuka Ito

A substitute history teacher in Motosu High School that becomes the advisor for the Outdoor Activity Club.

  • Eyes Always Shut: She has her eyes closed most of the time, if not covered by her shiny glasses. The only time her eyes shown open is in her first appearance as the drunk lady who is with the "fire starter guy" that Nadeshiko and Rin met (who turned out to be her sister)
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Her first appearance has her drinking and get drunk while camping. Her favorite pastime is drinking copious amounts of beer while watching TV dramas, buying six-packs at the liquor store Chiaki works daily. Her sisters always fear she'd get fired for drinking alcohol at work.
  • Meganekko: She occasionally wears a large round pair of glasses.
