Team 1

Dungeoneer: David C.
Advisors: David H., James, Lucien
From: Bedfordshire
Level attained: Level 1
Cause of death: Wrong turning and incorrect clue object choice

  • Redundancy Department of Redundancy: Tried answering the riddle about Ben Nevis with the answer they gave to the previous riddle. They were wrong.
  • Darkness Equals Death: When they found themselves in a mostly dark chamber (implied to have been the wellway room), they didn't have the lamp from the clue room to light the rest of the chamber up. Their life force eventually ran out as they tried to hold up the symbol they'd taken.
Treguard: Warning, Team. You should have taken the magic lamp when you had the chance. It would have been enough to have remembered the symbol. Now I can do nothing for you even if I wished. This darkness is caused by something which doesn't like intruders. Even now, it's making its dislike felt. Look at your life force clock - Condition: Red.
  • Your Other Left: Olgarth told them that they needed to take the right-hand turn when needed. They turned left, however, and without a lamp to illuminate the chamber, their quest didn't even make it until the end of the show's first episode.

Team 2

Dungeoneer: Maeve
Advisors: Christina, David, Lee
From: Lancashire
Level attained: Level 1
Cause of death: Misinterpretation of the rules regarding clue objects

  • Captain Oblivious: After Granitas showed up and announced that he would be demanding three riddles of Maeve, the team casually carried on discussing which item to take from the table as if he wasn't even there, causing an irate Granitas to demand that they answer his questions. Then, Maeve went right back to discussing which item(s) to take after only answering one question, further irritating the wall monster.
Granitas: Wait for the second riddle.
  • Failed a Spot Check: They somehow misinterpreted the rules of the dungeon and thought a "food" object counted as a "clue object", which led them to only take the soap (implied to have been needed to escape from the monster's stomach had they gone down it).
  • Oh, Crap!: The team's reaction after Lillith got extremely annoyed at Maeve only being able to offer her a block of soap when she wanted a comb, as they realised in full their mistake.
  • Not the Fall That Kills You…: Their fate at Lillith's hands, due to not taking the correct clue object.
Lillith: I have no time for those who bumble. So, boulders crack and that ledge CRUMBLE! Nice of you to drop in!
  • Tragic Mistake: They actually did quite well in the first few chambers they did, and got three of Granitas's riddles right, but their baffling decision to pick up only the block of soap — especially when Treguard told them they could take two items, and Granitas strongly hinted that they needed the comb — doomed their quest in the very next chamber.
Treguard: Maeve appears to have suffered a fatal fall. What a shame you didn't take the comb when it was so obviously needed.

Team 3

Dungeoneer: Simon N.
Advisors: Jonathan, Simon T., Steven
From: Yorkshire
Level attained: Level 2
Cause of death: Improper spellcasting

  • Only Sane Man: Jonathan actually worked out that they were supposed to use their ANVIL spell to incapacitate Gibbet after he threatened to kill Simon N. (as the next team would end up doing to Gumboil). However, Simon T. and Steven thought it'd be a better idea to dispel the LANTERN spell that was illuminating the chamber, to the point of interrupting Jonathan when he tried to cast ANVIL and forcing him to dispel LANTERN instead.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Presumably Simon T. and Steven thought that with the chamber plunged into darkness, Gibbet wouldn't be able to see Simon N. to attack him. As Treguard pointed out, however, darkness won't do much to prevent an armed man from killing a much smaller person from only a few feet away, to say nothing of how the team thought they'd guide their dungeoneer into the Level 3 wellway in pitch-blackness.
Treguard: Dear, dear, dear. I don't think that was quite the thing to do. Advisors, the situation called for defensive or offensive action. You did neither. And turning the lantern off did not save Simon from the guard.
  • Time Stands Still: Used a FREEZER spell on the Catacombite to get past it.

Team 4

Dungeoneer: Danny
Advisors: Mark, Nigel, Tom
From: Portsmouth
Level attained: Level 2
Cause of death: Wrong turning

  • Eaten Alive: Averted! They went into the monster's stomach, but thankfully, they had the correct clue object with which to escape by causing a stomach upset (in this case, a bag of salt).
  • Inconvenient Itch: Inflicted uncontrollable itching on Gumboil at the Level 1 wellway with an ITCH spell they'd earned from Lillith, keeping him distracted as they descended to Level 2.
  • Tap on the Head: Magically thwarted Gumboil again in Level 2 via an ANVIL spell, knocking him out with a magic anvil (they then had to quickly dispell the spell afterwards to avoid being fatally knocked out themselves)
  • Your Other Left: After Folly gives them a vague but recognisable hint that they should take the right-hand exit, they instead go through the left exit and enter a room with a bomb that instantly detonates, blowing Danny to shreds.
Treguard: Ooh, nasty! And I can't imagine why you did it. Take the wrong path, I mean. Folly clearly indicated right and yet, you went left!

Team 5

Dungeoneer: Helen
Advisors: Anthony, Claire, Jean-Paul
From: Mid Glamorgan
Level attained: Level 1
Cause of death: Wrong turning from lack of information

  • Guide Dang It!: Were required to answer all three of Granitas' riddles in order to get all the information they needed to get through Level 1, meaning that because they failed to answer the bat riddle correctly, they chose their direction incorrectly in a later chamber and found themselves in a room with no exits.
Treguard: Rotten luck. A 50/50 chance, but without the full reward from correct riddles, you turned left when right was right.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: When faced with the room with no exits, the team tried to cast a WELL spell Lillith had given to them earlier, hoping it would allow them to make their escape, but to no effect.
Treguard: Unfortunately, Team, the WELL spell can only reveal a well, it can't create one.

Team 6

Dungeoneer: Richard
Advisors: Edward, Paul, Jonathan
From: West Yorkshire
Level attained: Level 3
Cause of death: Incorrect clue object choice

  • Appeal to Flattery: When faced with the Gargoyle, they had to persuade him into better spirits to proceed.
  • Eaten Alive: Averted again. Went down into the monster's stomach where they used a block of soap to cause a stomach upset and make their escape.
  • Tragic Mistake: Nearly became the first-ever winners of the show, but their decision to take a dagger — despite the guide given to each team before the show telling them not to take weapons unless told to — instead of the horn stranded Richard at the Wall of Jericho, causing them to lose.
Treguard: Why are you carrying a weapon of so little use to one whose blindfold? Where is the horn to bring down the walls of Jericho?
