Amanogawa High School

Students

    Jun Shigeno

Jun Shigeno

Portrayed by: Arisa Fujisaki

Characters in Kamen Rider Fourze
A third-year and member of Miu's cheerleading trio. In Episode 5, Miu promotes her as the head of the Cheerleading team while she's off in her adventures with the Kamen Rider Club.
  • Big Eater: She's almost always seen eating, and seems to have a preference for candy, potato chips and bananas (a scene in Episode 4 even shows her locker with bananas hanging on it).
  • Club President: Promoted to the head of the team since Miu will be busy with the Kamen Rider Club. As shown in #25, she does a pretty good job.
  • The Ditz: And yet Miu's trusting her with leading the cheerleading team. Turns out she's good at it, though!
  • Shout-Out Theme Naming: To Junko and Shigeru Tama, characters in Kamen Rider V3.

    Chosuke Ban

Chosuke Ban

Portrayed by: Tadao Kuroishi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chosuke_ban.png
Leader of the delinquents' clique. He and his gang usually hang in a corner near the school, but got their butts handed to by Gentaro. Despite his rough exterior, he does have his nice moments.
  • Butt-Monkey: Got his (and his clique's) ass handed to him twice by Gentaro in a Curb-Stomp Battle while the latter was seeking information.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: He and the other delinquents attack Gentaro twice with no provocation very early on. Move to episode 17, Ban and the other delinquents are shown to be some of the many students Gentaro has become friends with.
  • Japanese Delinquents: The real thing. Gentaro just styled himself as one; otherwise he's a bona fide Nice Guy.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: In Episode 7, he shows JK Teruhiko's local hangout and warns him that the latter was pretty dangerous.
  • Meaningful Name: If read in the correct order (Ban Chosuke), the first two syllables form "bancho" (gang leader).

    Yuri Kuramochi

Yuri Kuramochi

Portrayed by: Miho Imamura

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yuri_kuramochi.png
Part of Ritsuko's posse, she joins to get revenge on the swim team. Gets revenge on them by using 'powers' to control the water.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Apparently the reason she was kicked off the swim team. That and because she was very slow, or so the members of the team say.
  • Making a Splash: Except it's really Altar Zodiarts at work.
  • Who's Laughing Now?: The swim team kicked her off for a dumb reason, so she joined Ritsuko’s coven to get revenge on them.

    Masami Okamura

Masami Okamura

Portrayed by: Maika Suzuki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/masami_okamura.png
The other member of Ritsuko's posse. She was originally part of the cheerleading club, but Miu kicked her off due to being more into dating the jocks. She wants revenge on her ex-boyfriend for dumping her.

    Reiko Hirota

Reiko Hirota

Portrayed by: Yurika Tachibana

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/reiko_hirota.png
A second-year girl who first appears as JK's pick for a potential competitor against Miu. She reappears in #7-8 and #12.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: In Episode 3, she was seemingly willing to go out and play along with Gentaro's plan in joining the Queen Festival. 5 episodes later we see her dismissing Gentaro as a freak when she breaks up with Shun. Take note that she's doing this while Gentaro is showing concern over Miu stuck in a coma from using the Power Dizer. Talk about cruel.
  • Kawaiiko: Plays it up by ending all her sentences with -ishi and so on.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: She eventually breaks up with Shun and considers Gentaro a freak, but considering that, in the movie, she's among the 40 chosen people to press the switches and give Gentaro a new power-up to save the day, it's likely that, offscreen, Reiko eventually mellowed out and became another of Gentaro's many friends.

    Mari Yamamoto

Mari Yamamoto

Portrayed by: Natsumi Ishibashi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mari_yamamoto.png
A member of the Photography Club and Miura's girlfriend. Unlike all other couples on the show, she remains faithful to him in spite of his troubles.
  • Camera Fiend: A positive example, she's out to document every spirited smile she sees.
  • Genki Girl: She could rival Yuki for pure energy in her.
  • The Power of Love: Her heartfelt photos of Miura saves him from accepting another Zodiarts Switch from Scorpio. This also makes her a...
  • Spanner in the Works: Without those photos, Scorpio would've had Miura under her thumb once more, and Miura's rejection of her would begin Scorpio Zodiarts' Villainous BSoD.
  • Tender Tears: As if she's taking the Retraux approach as well by invoking soap opera heroines of The '70s.

    Junta Abe

Junta Abe

Portrayed by: Tokimasa Tanabe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/junta_abe.png
President of the Glee Club. He's one of the few students outside of the Zodiarts and the Kamen Rider Club who knows about Gentaro being Fourze.
  • Childhood Friends: He went to school with Motoyama in the past.
  • Club President: Of the Glee Club.
  • Scooby Stack: With the other members of his club, at the beginning of #15, while spying on Yuki.
  • Secret Handshake: Gentaro and Yuki teach him (and the rest of the Glee Club) their handshake.
  • Secret-Keeper: Not only does he learn that Motoyama, who was his classmate since elementary, is the Perseus Zodiarts, he also learns that Gentaro is Fourze.

    Rumi Egawa

Rumi Egawa

Portrayed by: Yuki Kato

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rumi_egawa.png
Kengo's childhood friend and a member of the Track and Field Team, hoping to top an upcoming pentathlon tryout.

    Misa Toriizaki

Misa Toriizaki

Portrayed by: Kaya Asano

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/misa_toriizaki.png
A student who's into ballet and leads the Cygnus Fan Club/Cult, the Ugly Ducklings. She grades the actions of the other members with a "plus or minus" system.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Seems like a Nice Girl all dressed in white who wants to spread the goodwill of Cygnus. Then in Episode 24 (for no odd reason), she ditches white for black, becomes a total bitch and forced Eguchi to become the Cygnus Zodiarts.
  • Break the Haughty: The only thing that was done to her was her being used as a Human Shield and Cygnus stating that she was disposable. After that, the Cult disbands.
  • Fangirl: She leads many of the other fans of Cygnus in a fan club.
  • Hate Sink: What she transforms to by the end of #24 after she forces Eguchi to become Cygnus Zodiarts even though he doesn't want to.
  • Human Shield: For letting Eguchi become Cygnus Zodiarts, this was how she was rewarded.
  • Lady Macbeth: To the real Cygnus Zodiarts, just as he was about to escape its influence.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: She gets chewed out by Cygnus Zodiarts and is broken so hard by him that she has to disband her cult.
  • Meaningful Name: The "Tori" in her surname uses the kanji for "bird". It's another Red Herring.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Learns the hard way that her stupidity nearly got her killed. After that she disbanded the Cult.
  • Never Trust a Trailer: Where the trailer for 24 suggests she's the Cygnus Zodiarts, even including the shot where she's about to press the switch! That shot was her forcing the real Cygnus Zodiarts to press and activate the Last One Stage against his will.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!: Was it really necessary to make Eguchi become Cygnus Zodiarts?
  • Not His Sled: The trailer to Episode 24 showed her in a black costume and seemingly holding a Zodiarts switch.
  • Paint It Black: Her ballet outfit in Episode 24.
  • Red Herring: The look in her eye and her point system really pegged her to be Cygnus Zodiarts. It's actually Eguchi...kinda.
  • Shout-Out: A ballerina who appears angelic but turns into a selfish bitch, complete with a black tutu - sound familiar?
  • Too Dumb to Live: It was really stupid of her to force Eguchi - who before then actually resisted the temptation to do so - to activate "Last One". It nearly killed her.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: You just had to make Eguchi become the Cygnus Zodiarts at Last One despite noticing that he was begging and pleading not to! All so you can say "Oh, Eguchi! We still need Cygnus so please transform for us"!

    Mei Shirakawa

Mei Shirakawa

Portrayed by: Runa Natsui

Ryusei's old classmate from Subaruboshi High.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mei_shirakawa.png

    Jiro Iseki

Jiro Iseki

Portrayed by: Ryusei Yokohama

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jiro_iseki.png
Ryusei's best friend who fell into a coma following a failed attempt to activate a Zodiarts Switch.

    Ran Kuroki

Ran Kuroki

Portrayed by: Lynn Honoka

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ran_kuroki.png
A freshman who is shown to be very angry towards elders, having known to flip them over with martial arts moves. At the end of the story, she and Kusao Haru join the few Secret-Keeper regular students - until they're ready to join the club itself.See the Horoscopes section for tropes relating to Ran as the Pisces Zodiarts
  • Berserk Button: Anyone touching her left shoulder gets flipped into the air. Even Ohsugi and Hayami are not spared.
  • Catchphrase: "I'll protect you, Haru!" is pretty much what she said the most in her arc, even given a quick montage over how many times she's said it in the span of two episodes. This is also the very same thing that made her friend quicken his evolution as a Zodiarts.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Returns in #45... and becomes the Pisces Zodiarts!
  • Childhood Friends: With Haru. Unfortunately, her insistence of this makes Haru more and more mad once he got that switch.
  • Hidden Depths: She hates seniors because a few of them back in her old school made fun of Haru and tossed his charm bracelet into the pool. She stated that she'd never trust them again after that.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: She discriminates anyone who isn’t Haru or herself due to her own paranoia and her absolute refusal to get to know others before passing judgement. She also thinks Haru is a fragile flower who always needs her protection and learns the hard way that no, he doesn't want her to protect her. He wants her to shut the hell up for once and let him make his own decisions!
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: Ran refuses to socialize with anyone because she adamantly believes anyone regardless of who they are will betray her. She also tries to instill this mindset into Haru solely based on ‘’her own’’ beliefs and ignoring the flaws in this thinking even when brought up.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!: Do you wanna know why your friend gets so mad? Because you won't shut up about "I'm the only one who can protect Haru!" that's why!
  • Only Friend: Invoked. She doesn't believe that someone who wants to be your friend can be your friend, so she insists to Haru that he trust her. Unfortunately, this makes her very stupid and slow to realize that maybe Haru doesn't want to have her always coming to save him and wants to have other friends besides just her.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Lampshaded and somewhat Justified. Its repeatedly pointed out by Gentaro and crew that if she explained the situation, a lot of problems could be solved earlier. But her paranoia of being betrayed by Upperclassmen keeps getting in the way of considering this.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: See Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!; Haru wanted to accept Gentaro's friendship, except she got in the way because she's the one who didn't trust Gentaro. However, it's all for the better, since her involvement also clued Ohsugi in on there being a faculty member that's working for the Zodiarts.

    Yukina Takamura

Yukina Takamura

Portrayed by: Mika Akizuki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yukina_takamura.png
A classmate of Gentaro who has a massive crush on him, wanting to be with him alone during the School Field Trip. Unlike the other regular students who somehow learn that Gentaro is Fourze when he reveals it, she discovered it well ahead of time before the trip.
  • Better as Friends: After Gentaro's fight with Libra (untransformed since she took the Fourze Driver), and Yuki gives her a speech about Gentaro, the two to have a photograph together with big smiles.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: While not as profound as her other fellow female students (ie Yayoi, Misa, etc.), she shows hints of this when she threatens to confiscates Yuki's Hayabusa puppet if she doesn't do what she says.
    • She goes as far as pushing a fellow shopkeeper away and berating Yuki in her kimono because they needed to make her outshine and thus forces Yuki to dress up as a fishmonger. Not to mention force Gentaro to give her a piggy back ride, make him drive her around in a rickshaw and other things.
    • She knew about Gentaro being Fourze and screams, "Then maybe you should stop being a Kamen Rider." and steals the Fourze Driver away ''just so he can relax and have vacation''.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She loves Gentaro, and will not let anyone get in-between the two. Ultimately gets better in #34 when Yuki explains that Fourze is necessary. #34 gives more insight; she knew Gentaro was Fourze and saw how much he was fighting as Fourze. She only wanted him to loosen up and be a normal high school student. Unfortunately, she took it a little too far when she stole the Fourze Driver.
  • Distaff Counterpart: She acts basically like Gentaro with a greatly decreased sense of empathy. A little bit like early Ryusei in her ability to switch from kind to jerk at the drop of a hat in regards to their mission.
  • Foreshadowing: At one point claims that she's the only one who understands and worries about Gentaro. Because she thinks Gentaro's pushing himself too far in his Kamen Rider duties.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Inverted. She wants Gentaro to be normal.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Since she's in the same group as Yuki, Gentaro and Ryusei, she usually has to be pushed out of the way else she finds out about the existence of Kamen Riders. #34 reveals that she already knew from watching him at school that Gentaro was Fourze and whenever monsters would appear at school he was fighting them.
  • Secret-Keeper: She knows Gentaro is Fourze from watching him fight the Zodiarts. No one else knows that, not even Gentaro.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Let's see: the guy you have a crush on saves the school from monsters almost weekly, you took his means of fighting them because you want him to stop focusing on his mission and enjoy the field trip like a normal kid and almost immediately afterward you are confronted with one such monster (Libra Zodiarts). What are you going to do? Refuse to give the Fourze Driver to Gentaro when he comes to try to save you until Yuki gives An Aesop on how Gentaro still protects people, with or without the belt. Good idea.

    Sayaka Mibu

Sayaka Mibu

Portrayed by: Yuka Eda

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sayaka_mibu.png
A third-year student and student council president before passing it to Sugiura due to hospitalization.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After she earned that Sugiura is doing his actions not to be like her, but because of his own feelings for her, Sayaka felt ashamed that she made Sugiura into a Control Freak and decided to help stop him.
  • The Perfectionist: Strives for absolute order, whether it be in school or in public areas.

    Shoko Oki

Shoko Oki

Portrayed by: Seira Maeda

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shoko_oki.png
The head of the student council's decency committee.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Has feelings for Sugiura despite knowing his feelings for Sayaka, but follows his orders in hopes that he notices her feelings for him.
  • The Dragon: To Sugiura.

Teachers

    Sarina Sonoda

Sarina Sonoda

Portrayed by: Yuka Konan

Gentaro's first homeroom teacher, a youthful and beautiful young woman who teaches classical literature. The students consider her cute, and she's the object of Chuta's unwanted affections. See the Horoscopes section for tropes relating to Sonoda and her being the true identity of the Scorpion Zodiarts.

    Chuta Ohsugi

Chuta Ohsugi

Portrayed by: Takushi Tanaka

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chuta_ohsugi.png
A geography teacher at Amanogawa High with a dislikable personality, and is also the homeroom teacher for Gentaro's class for the third year. In #30, he has decided to help out the Kamen Rider Club fight the Zodiarts.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: To Sonoda. His crush for her was also the reason the Kamen Rider Club lost their portal locker in Episodes 11-12, thanks to Yuki's lie about that locker originally belonging to Sonoda-sensei.
  • Brick Joke: Remember the Running Gag of him trying to enforce the school dress code on Gentaro? Cue episode 39.
  • Butt-Monkey: After finishing his speech, he turns around to find the people he's speaking to have vanished.
    • Then there's that time where he got run over by many of the female students and mothers in Episode 13.
  • Character Tic: He usually snaps his suspenders.
  • Chewing the Scenery: In Episode 18...
    "TEEEESTO!"
    • The one at the start of #29 beats that one to a pulp.
  • Conditioned to Accept Horror: Midway in the series, when the Monster of the Week tries to sabotage the prom and graduation, he simply states that it will still go on as planned since he already considers the Zodiarts attacks as a commonplace occurance and a part of how the school is.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He may be strict but the idea of another teacher in his school purposefully giving students the means to become a Zodiarts disgusts him, to the point that he willingly joins as the advisor for the Kamen Rider Club.
  • Heroic BSoD: Observing Hayami talking to Sonoda-and subsequently finding out that he has a nickname to her-made him go into complete shock. Happens again when Sonoda "leaves school". Played for Laughs, of course.
    • And in #46, he learns that Sonoda-sensei was Scorpio Zodiarts. This is also Played for Laughs.
  • Irony: The Butt-Monkey out of the faculty is one of the only teachers the Kamen Rider Club could actually trust, seeing that he's not a Zodiarts and is actually a normal, human teacher. However, as shown on the show, he's not that helpful, so even getting the Kamen Rider Club to get a teacher on the inside will be immensely hard. However, after he discovers their hideout, he actually becomes pretty helpful.
    • Remember his belief about how students and teachers must never become friends? In #33, he tells the Kamen Rider Club that the reason he joined and became their adviser was because he just wanted to have friends.
  • Jerkass: Towards the students, especially Gentaro, since it is his belief that teachers and students shouldn't be friends.
    • More specifically, he hates Gentaro because he made Sonoda-sensei "leave the school" (he didn't) and is too stubborn to listen to Gentaro about it.
    • After #30, he's done a complete 180. See below.
  • Large Ham: He often shouts out his students' names as loudly as possible.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: He's the only member of the faculty - aside from Satake and Haruka - that's not a Zodiarts.
    • However, he soon knows about the Rabbit Hatch, though he's helping out with the club.
    • Only to be locked out again, this time regarding Meteor's identity.
  • Manchild: A man clearly in his forties, and yet is prone to crying fits and temper tantrums.
  • Meaningful Echo: In the beginning of #30 after finding out about the Kamen Rider Club he notes that it was important for teachers to help the students out. At the end of the episode when he gets saved by Fourze from Musca he repeats this same thing, after he announces that he will become their faculty advisor.
  • The Mentor: Becomes this for the Kamen Rider Club in #30.
  • Only Sane Man: His crush hands out Switches to students, their new principal is in on the conspiracy, and the director is the man behind it all. Compared to them, him being the Butt-Monkey is normal!
    • Even more so now that he's helping out with the Kamen Rider Club.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: He's shown having a serious face in #47 in regards to the Day of Awakening; that's enough proof to show how serious this is.
  • Papa Wolf: We're not kidding. He tries to pull Leo Zodiarts away from Miu screaming "Don't harm my students!" and even escapes the Rabbit Hatch to warn Kengo and Gentaro about what's going on. He's going to protect his students no matter what!
  • Professional Butt-Kisser: Behaves this way towards Miu and Daimonji. Keeping the Kamen Rider Club a secret has allowed Shun to maintain some clout over him in Episode 11 (or maybe Ohsugi's just that gullible).
    • Averted in #30 as he actually tries to escape them when he's being guarded by them in the Rabbit Hatch.
  • Red Herring: In one episode, Sonoda sees him reading the horoscope and asks what his sign is. He responds "Scorpio", making pincers with his fingers and getting a creepy red glow. Turns out Sonoda-sensei is the Scorpion Zodiarts.
  • Say My Name: In #32:
Ohsugi: (to their respective owners) KISARAGI! JOJIMA! UTAHOSHI!...(turns to Ryusei) Sakuta?
  • School Club Advisor: Chuta Ohsugi is a strict and rather unpleasant teacher at Amanogawa High School who, for a decent chunk of the series, is antagonistic towards the members of the secretive (and unofficial) Kamen Rider Club — especially the new transfer and series protagonist, Gentaro Kisaragi, whom he immediately labels as troublesome on his first day. However, during the Musca Zodiarts' attack on the school, Ohsugi discovers the existence of the club and initially planned to report them to Principal Hayami (who himself is one of the main boss Zodiarts), though before he could do so, he learns that the Musca Zodiarts is a student who was given his power by a teacher. With the knowledge that someone on Amanogawa's faculty is now untrustworthy and that the Kamen Rider Club is actively protecting the school from the Zodiarts, Ohsugi agrees to keep quiet about them and volunteers to become their club advisor, both in part due to school clubs requiring a faculty advisor and his responsibility to help and protect his students, just as the club is doing for them now.
  • Secret-Keeper: Goes with being the faculty adviser of the Kamen Rider Club.
  • Shoo Out the Clowns: After he becomes involved with the KRC, his appearances grow less and less as the other Horoscopes arrive.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: After learning about the Zodiarts threat, along with Ran noting that Haru got his switch from a teacher, he decides to help the Kamen Rider Club and be its faculty advisor.
    • To the point that in #41, after Virgo has caused the club to break up, he only asks for the remaining members—Ryusei, Kengo and Gentaro—to not die because he truly cared about them.

    Takashi Satake

Takashi Sakate

Portrayed by: Satoshi Jinbo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/takashi_satake.png
A notoriously ruthless teacher responsible for detention classes. Has a great hatred for delinquents due to him having trouble with his own son at home.
  • The Dreaded: In Episode 7 alone, he even makes Gentaro cower before him.
    • Getting angry at one point also caused him to strike fear into Tomoko.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Of the academic kind. He spares nobody - not even Shun.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Initially. With the realization that his strictness drove his son to madness, it's safe to say he's getting better.
  • Gratuitous English: "Bad boy." (to Gentaro)
    • Ironic Echo: Gentaro repeats these words when he asks if Sakate's son was also one of these. Then again in Movie Wars Ultimatum when Satake believes Gentaro has cast off the "bad boy" and earned "good man" instead.
  • Hidden Depths: The reason he's so ruthless to delinquents is because of his own past with his son...which comes back to bite him.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: His son became a Zodiarts because he was such a hardass. Discovering this had a big effect on him. This is exemplified by him repeatedly whispering Teruhiko's name while the latter is in a coma, showing that Satake still loved his son. Once Teruhiko is freed from the Zodiarts Switch, you can see the look of relief on his face as he hugs his son.
  • Oh, Crap!: You can see his eyes bug out in horror when JK reveals that the Hound Zodiarts is his son.
  • Pet the Dog: Perhaps as thanks for helping his son, he gives Gentaro a 50%note  (aka a passing grade) on the test. For context, Shun (before he realized the error of his ways) rigged the test to that anyone who gets loess than 50 would be stuck in weekend classes in order to punish Gentaro, knowing how Book Dumb the delinzuent is.
  • Sadist Teacher: At first; with the revelation of his son being Hound Zodiarts, he'll most likely get better.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: While he still gives Gentaro a hard time, he comes to respect him as a colleague by Movie Wars Ultimatum.

    Kouhei Hayami

Kouhei Hayami

Portrayed by: Kousei Amano

The charismatic principal of Amanogawa High. In reality, he's actually the Libra Zodiarts, and is currently handing out the Zodiarts Switches after Scorpion has been demoted. See the Horoscopes section for more information about Hayami.

    Haruka Utsugi

Haruka Utsugi

Portrayed by: Nao Nagasawa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/haruka_utsugi.png
Sonoda's replacement as homeroom teacher for Class 2B. She despises her job and would rather make a living on kickboxing than teaching students.
  • Advertised Extra: A big deal was made out of her appearing in the series due to her actress, but she didn't stay on after the Pegasus Zodiarts' two-parter. Though she comes back later in both the movie and the finale.
  • Back for the Finale: Appears again during the credits of the final episode.
  • Badass Normal: She's a kickboxer who helps Gentaro defeat the Pegasus Zodiarts.
  • Berserk Button: Prying into her personal life for whichever reason, though this dies down later on.
  • Character Tic: Her trademark kick begins with a quick double-stomp resembling a horse tapping its hooves.
  • Dismotivation: Hates being a teacher and makes it clear that she plans on quitting. Gentaro convinces her to infuse her job with the passion she has for kickboxing, resulting in her starting a kickboxing club and starting to actually enjoy teaching.
  • Frame-Up: The real Pegasus Zodiarts goes out of his way to plant evidence implicating Utsugi because he hates her.
  • Ice Queen: -> Cool Big Sis Mentor
  • Kick Chick: Practices kickboxing.
  • Long Lost Auntie Aesop: Inverted when it was Gentaro teaching her about combining her career and passion and not vice-aresa. Then she gets Put on a Bus until the movie.
  • Red Herring: There were hints that she was Pegasus Zodiarts, her Character Tic being one of them. It's actually a student she really ticked off, who copied her kickboxing.
  • Secret-Keeper: For Gentaro, because he revealed his identity as Fourze in an attempt to get her to peacefully hand over the Pegasus Switch - which she didn't have. But she did have a switch; she had the switch to the fire alarm because she kicked it off!
  • Take a Third Option: She was stuck between teaching and wanting to pursue her kickboxing dreams. Gentaro suggests that she just teach kickboxing and form a club.

Zodiarts

A Zodiarts is created when an ordinary human uses a Zodiarts Switch to create an avatar body of Cosmic Energy, transforming and giving him/her incredible powers. The human (known as a "Switcher") can use the Switch to transform freely between his/her normal and Zodiarts forms as many times as he/she wishes.

After a certain number of uses (catalyzed by the user's rage and negativity) the Zodiarts Switch will mutate into a form known as "Last One". If the Switcher uses the Zodiarts Switch after this happens, their human body is ejected by the Zodiarts body upon transformation. While this increases the Zodiarts's power, it carries a risk that the Switcher will not be able to turn back to normal.

    General Tropes
  • All-Encompassing Mantle: Exclusive to the Horoscopes. Until they junk them, that's when shit goes down.
  • Animal Motifs: Sometimes done with Zodiarts based on constellations that aren't animals.
    • Pyxis (also known as the Mariners' Compass) is specifically bug-like, and even Altar (self-explanatory) has bug-like mandibles which combined with her Playing with Fire ability, makes her a firefly.
    • Perseus has a wolf motif to him. Medusa's head (re: the original legend) is even incorporated into the design so he's got a bunch of snakes as well.
    • Libra has antennae and a smaller mantle under his cloak that make him look like a cockroach. And Leo actually did call him a cockroach upon Libra's faked Heel–Face Turn.
    • Virgo invokes this with deliberately bird-like wings that even shed feathers.
    • Inverted with Dragon — the dragon bits are shifted towards the arms, making him look nondescript.
    • Aquarius is the first to knowingly avert this. Though she does look slightly like a jellyfish.
    • Taurus, of course, looks similar to a giant bull.
    • Sagittarius has a bird motif, as it is the scientific name of the secretarybird.
      • It is a misconception that the myth behind the constellation of Sagittarius, the Archer, is that it was the centaur Chiron, who is actually represented by the aptly named constellation Centaurus. Sagittarius represents the satyr Crotus, so if the Sagittarius Zodiarts was going to be accurate, it'd be a man with goat legs and horns.
      • His Super Nova form's design is a mixture of a Horoscopes Switch and a bug. Interesting enough, in this form he has his own version of a Rider Kick and Punch.
    • Not surprisingly, Pisces is a fish.
  • Deadly Upgrade: Kengo implies that when using a Zodiarts Switch in its "Last One" stage, the user may not be able to turn back. Considering their soul effectively leaves their body in a coma to control the Zodiarts body, he probably has a point.
    • Gentaro mentions in Episode 8 that Miura (Orion Zodiarts) is still in hospital. Then episode 13 comes. He's well, but not going back to Amanogawa due to withdrawal symptoms.
    • Episode 14 reveals that when a former switcher is given a new switch, it immediately enters Last One state.
    • Episode 14 also reveals the true final form of a Horoscope, its Supernova form! However, if used wrongly, it could destroy them.
    • #15 reveals that a Zodiarts can surpass the Last One state, which could lead to them becoming a Horoscope. And #22 revealed the first student to become a Horoscope.
    • As it turns out, using a Zodiarts Switch for too long, such as Gamou and Kou, has a nasty side effect: whereas a normal Horoscope returns to normal when beaten, these two can't. If their Zodiarts form is destroyed, they die.
    • This trope was the entire reason Kengo's father was opposed to them in the first place: they're a quicker route to power than the Fourze Driver, but they're also far riskier with far more drawbacks.
  • Defeat Equals Explosion: Justified; a Zodiarts body is made of Cosmic Energy, and upon defeat that energy is violently released in an explosion. This notably causes problems, as the stronger Zodiarts have so much Cosmic Energy in them that defeating them could potentially result in an explosion powerful enough to level a city if done wrong. Fourze either has to take them into space to defeat them properly or an attack that siphons off Cosmic Energy has to be used.
  • Drunk on the Dark Side: The users tend to become more irrational and insane as they continue to use the Switch. This is undone with its destruction, however.
  • Evil Feels Good: A frequent consequence of using a Zodiarts Switch. At least one former Switcher - Miura (Orion) - develops withdrawal symptoms after his Switch is destroyed.
  • Evil Is Easy: When compared to the Fourze System, a Zodiarts Switch is the quicker of the two to reach the Presenters, but at the cost of various factors.
  • Evil Knockoff: Both the Fourze System and the Zodiarts switches were created by reverse engineering the Core Switch. However, where the Fourze Driver was the intended end result by the Presenters (as shown with Kengo being designed to use it to warp back to them), the Zodiarts Switches were created by Gamou out of impatience with how long it would take and refusing to allow anyone else to reach the Presenters before him. As a result, while a quicker means to obtain power and theoretically capable of allowing a human to reach the Presenters, they're also far more dangerous and risk destroying the user both physically and mentally.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Invoked in the same way as Kamen Rider Double.
  • The Gloves Come Off: The Horoscopes junk their black capes when they go into battle. Not that there's some kind of Restraining Bolt in action, just Rule of Cool really.
  • Made of Explodium: The released Cosmic Energy could take out an entire city block or more, so Fourze has to be careful when using a Limit Break. Of note, defeating the Zodiarts itself doesn't destroy it completely - the only way to take it out for good is to destroy the Switch by turning it off once and for all.
  • Monogender Monsters: Averted in a fashion similar to Kamen Rider Double. Like the Dopants, uncovering the true identity of a Zodiarts is part of the story. To add to the mystery, the Zodiarts refrain from speaking, have their voices digitally distorted, or a separate voice actor is used until their identity is revealed.
  • One-Winged Angel: Some of the "Last One" transformations.
    • In #14 Horoscopes have the ability go Supernova turning them into giant monsters!
    • Taken beyond eleven in in #15. What is beyond Last One? The evolution to a Horoscope-level Zodiarts!
  • Personality Powers: The Zodiarts evolve in reaction to their host's abilities and desires. For example Unicorn gained a sword due to Nitta's fencing ability and Hound fit Teruhiko's fondness for chains as its main weapon.
  • Shout-Out
  • Sorting Algorithm of Evil: the latter half of the series eschews normal Zodiarts to have actual Horoscopes as MOTWs, starting with Aries in #31.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: The Zodiarts are pretty much extensions of their anger and wrath, but sometimes they can get even worse. Case in point: the case of Cygnus who was, in fact, a student's Split Personality.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Apparently the most effective way to accelerate a Switch's evolution to its "Last One" stage.

Horoscopes

Horoscopes are a group of twelve Zodiarts, each representing a constellation of the Western Zodiac. They are direct subordinates to Gamou, giving out Zodiarts Switches on his behalf, and are notably stronger than regular Zodiarts. A Horoscopes member can be identified by the distinctive black robes they wear, which act as Power Limiters to their true potential.

A Horoscopes is created when a Zodiarts exceeds the Last One stage of the Zodiarts Switch, reabsorbing its human body and evolving into an even more powerful form. Only certain talented individuals have the potential to become a Horoscopes; thus, it is the Horoscopes' mission to find and awaken all twelve of their kin.

    General Tropes
  • Badass Long Robe: Every Horoscopes wears a cloak, the better to dramatically toss it aside before battle.
  • Co-Dragons: There are often two or three at once. For the better part of the series, you had Hayami on Zodiarts-recruiting duty, bodyguard Tatsugami ever at Gamou's right hand, and executioner Virgo as the chief puncher of things.
  • Deadly Upgrade: The Supernova forms that several Horoscopes have are risky to use for too long, due to raising the Cosmic Energy in the user's body to the point of risking a Super-Power Meltdown.
  • I Am Not Left-Handed: According to official materials, their robes limit their power to some degree and casting them off allows them to fight at full power.
  • Mooks: The Stardust Ninjas called Dustards, which the Horoscopes can create in large numbers. Tatsugami has his own Elite Mooks version, the Leo Dustards, which apply Conservation of Ninjutsu and only appear as a pair in exchange for being much more powerful.
  • One-Winged Angel: A Horoscopes is this to a regular Zodiarts already, being the final form of their evolution which switches their original constellation out for one of the twelve Western Zodiac signs and grants a host of new powers. The Horoscopes themselves can apply the trope a second time by unlocking a Supernova ability, either through training or by having Gamou unlock it for them, which grants a new power or a temporary transformation into a more powerful form.
  • The Power of Hate: Since the Horoscopes run on negative Cosmic Energy, their powers tend to increase when they undergo intense surges of malice. It's implied that this is what makes the Cancer Zodiarts grow so powerful so quickly, as he's one of the few Zodiarts who openly revels in being evil and has no positive qualities. Gamou himself averts this by being genuinely Affably Evil, instead being the most powerful simply because he's spent decades mastering his powers.

    Mitsuaki Gamou/Sagittarius Zodiarts

The Red-Eyed Man/Mitsuaki Gamou/Sagittarius Zodiarts

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sagittarius_nova.png
Founder of Amanogawa High School, chairman of the board, and former scientist and pioneer of lunar research with connections to NASA and the Russian Federal Space Agency.

He is secretly the mastermind behind the Zodiarts, and has been distributing the Zodiarts Switches amongst the students of his school for reasons unknown. His eyes often glow with an unearthly red light, and he possesses the ability to wield Cosmic Energy in a raw form. Near the end of #34, Hayami finds out that his Zodiarts form is Sagittarius and he transforms into it in #42.

  • Affably Evil: Gamou is the type to call you over in the cafeteria to try a new soup he's made himself, then a few hours later break into your headquarters and kill your best friend in front of your eyes, apologize for the fuss and thank you for finding the soup delicious enough that he's added it to the menu. What a nice guy.
  • Ambiguously Human: Because Gamou has been using the Switches for so much longer than anyone else, even his human form has power over negative Cosmic Energy that lets him exhibit control over other Zodiarts and even other Horoscopes, usually associated with his eyes turning a bright red color.
  • Anti-Villain: Gamou's ultimate goal is simply meet the Presenters, and help humanity evolve. He has very little, if any, genuine malice and none of his acts are committed out of actual sadism, rather because they're necessary to reach that goal. He's actually genuinely Affably Evil and a pretty friendly guy all things considered, and ironically is one of the few Kamen Rider main villains to be a Friendly Enemy. There's also the fact that negative Cosmic Energy is inherently corrupting and he's been using it far longer than anyone else.
  • Arrows on Fire: Which are called Apostolos.
  • Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: His ultimate goal is to meet the Presenters and evolve beyond human.
  • Big Bad: The ringleader of the Zodiarts.
  • Bishounen Line: Sagittarius looks like most Kamen Rider final bosses- huge and overdesigned. Sagittarius Nova is far more streamlined, almost resembling a Kamen Rider himself.
  • Bookends: Notice what happens at the beginning and ending scenes of #45?
  • Bystander Syndrome: When asked what will become of Japan after his endgame, he pretty much responds that it's up to them. They want to follow his example? good. Japan gets destroyed as he ascends? Not his problem.
  • Drunk on the Dark Side: Gets more and more unhinged as he gets closer to his goal.
  • The Dying Walk: His overuse of negative Cosmic Energy ends makes it so when Fourze defeats him, his body begins to fall apart. After conceding he lost and gracefully accepting his defeat, he wanders off to resurrect Kengo and die quietly.
  • Entitled Bastard: After Hayami gave his life to protect him, Gamou states that he's the sun and Hayami was just a planet orbiting him and that's why Hayami saved him, not because he actually cared.
  • Evil Overlooker: The newest version of the OP (#35 on) shows him alongside the Horoscopes in this manner.
  • Expy: Of Ryubee Sonozaki. Big Bad from day one? Check. Extremely powerful monster form? Check. Plan involves causing the apocalypse? Check. Somewhat redeems himself in his final scenes. Check.
  • Face Death with Dignity: After being defeated by Fourze, he realizes that his body is breaking down from overuse of negative Cosmic Energy triggered by his Zodiarts form being destroyed. He simply quietly concedes his loss, accepts Gentaro's friendship, and wanders off to resurrect Kengo before dying under the stars.
  • Fatal Flaw: Impatience. The entire series is due to him being too impatient to take the slower, but far safer road of making the Fourze System vs his quicker, but far more dangerous Zodiarts Switches because he could stand the idea of not being the one to see the Presenters.
  • Foil: To Gentaro in that where Gentaro is a Magnetic Hero who cares more about his friends than anything else, Gamou cares only about himself and sees no value in friendship at all.
  • Friendly Enemy: For all his villainy, he is generally genuinely friendly the Kamen Rider Club most of the time and at the very least bares no real malice towards them. It's even explicitly noted that other than the whole handing out Zodiarts Switches thing, he's actually a pretty good, well liked principle.
  • A God Am I: Not a direct case, but Gamou claimed himself to others as the "sun" and the "apex of evolution".
  • Go-Karting with Bowser: Granted, the club has yet to figure out he's the Big Bad, but he did go out of his way to cook for Kengo's birthday. A big part of what makes him so Affably Evil. He also helps the KRC in the climax of The Movie by being one of the forty switchers.
  • Graceful Loser: He takes his defeat extremely well, accepts Gentaro's friendship, and quietly wanders off to let his Super-Power Meltdown kill him after resurrecting Kengo.
  • Heel Realization: The heroes fighting him, not with hate, but with The Power of Friendship manages to make him see the light in the end.
  • Hero Killer: Due to Kengo being a huge obstacle in his aspiration to get to the Presenters, Gamou eventually resorted into using Supernova to kick him and damage the Core Switch, thus making Kengo dissolve. Not that it stopped Gamou from becoming Aquarius to restore said Switch and Kengo in his final moments upon seeing the error of his ways.
  • Hidden Agenda Villain: It takes a while for it to come out that he distributes the Zodiarts Switches to students in order for them to evolve into the remaining Horoscopes.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Very nearly happened to him in #46 when he discovers as he's preparing to Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence that while its happening he's completely powerless. If it weren't for Hayami Taking the Bullet for him, he'd have been finished.
  • Hypocrite: While he says he never had a friend and that friendship is useless, he was visibly saddened by Emoto's betrayal and subsequent death and the next arcs are basically him trying to find new companions for his space travel (even going so far as to ask Hayami, who he was treating like crap up to that point, to come with him).
  • It Amused Me: Hayami mentions that this is why there was a "bonus question" in the astronaut qualification test.
"He was having a little fun."
  • It's All About Me:
    • Gets called this in #45, but really shows it when Hayami sacrificed himself for him.
Gamou: I am the sun, he was simply a planet that orbited me. It's only natural he'd defend me.
    • In general, this trope defines much of Gamou's villainy: unlike many Kamen Rider villains, he's not really sadistic and takes no real pleasure from harming others, he's simply apathetic to the suffering his actions cause others so long as he gets the goal he wants in the end.
  • Jedi Mind Trick: How he got the police to forgo their investigation of the school.
  • Karmic Death: He dies due to the strain his switch put on him. He even lampshades it.
Gamou: I pushed my evolution too much.
  • Meaningful Name: In a bit of a stretch, the kanji that comprise Gamou's first name are translated as "bright light", which is one of the epithets of the god Apollo, who was also the god of archery, and Sagittarius is primarily identfied as "The Archer", despite its common and mistaken depiction as a centaur. Emoto illustrated this connection to Apollo further when he descibes Gamou as "like the Sun".
  • Mighty Glacier: Monstrously powerful, but his reliance on mostly long range attacks means that he doesn't have to move very fast.
  • My Greatest Failure: He states to Kengo in #34 that he felt sorry for not saving his father, but that might be a lie.
  • Nietzsche Wannabe: He thinks that friendship is useless.
  • One-Winged Angel: Towards the end of the series becomes the Sagittarius Zodiarts. He also gets a Supernova form on top of it.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Initially, as "The Red-Eyed Man".
  • Orcus on His Throne: He's mostly been seated on his chair and talking to the Zodiarts. Until he transforms in into the Sagittarius Zodiarts.
  • Pet the Dog: For a Toku villain, he seems unusually committed to having his minions not die. He chooses to send those that repeatedly fail him to the Dark Nebula, and he makes an effort to have Virgo rescue those who are taken out by Fourze in space. He even wipes out memories of some of his fellow Horoscopes as an alternative to the Dark Nebula. This can be justified since he only seems to want the Horoscopes Switches instead. When he is eventually forced to kill off one of the Horoscopes, he does seem legitimately remorseful about it.
    • He seemed to generally like (or at least be amused by) Yuki even before she said she could hear "The Voice of Space"; after that, he tries to recruit her and when he fails laments that he'll be all alone in the end.
  • Playing with Fire: Has arrow-shooting abilities, the design of his Zodiarts form has some flame elements to it, and his debut fight has him walking on the flames he made.
  • Rain of Arrows: Can summon a bombardment of them to defeat and force his opponents out of their transformation.
  • Rasputinian Death: Takes the Finishing Move of every one of Fourze's States, including Rocket States, in a row (two from Cosmic States), a beat down from Gentaro (read: not in Fourze's Suit!), and finally a quadruple Limit Break from Base States to finally take him down.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Who would've thunk that the Big Bad is an excellent cook?
  • Redemption Equals Death: After Fourze finally defeats him, Gamou finally accepts the latter's belief in the The Power of Friendship — and they do the Secret Handshake. However, Gamou realizes that his abuse of Sagittarius is finally taking a toll on his body. He then walks off and transforms into Aquarius Zodiarts so he could use its healing powers to fix the Core Switch, reviving Kengo in the process, before he fades away into Cosmic Energy.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His eyes occasionally flash red in moments of frustration. They also serve as a Red Herring to trick the viewer into thinking he killed Kengo's dad.
  • Red Herring: Pun unintentinoal, but due to his eyes glowing red, it's initially assumed that he was the one who killed Kengo's father. 40 episodes later, we learn that the astronaut with the glowing red eyes wasn't him, it's Emoto.
  • Shed Armor, Gain Speed: His Nova form discards armor, making him fast and powerful enough to defeat Kengo's Core Child powers.
  • Shoot the Dog: In the end, he orders the death of quite possibly his closest comrade and only friend, Emoto. After retrieving Virgo's Switch, he actually seems to feel bad about what he did. For about the span of a few seconds.
  • Ultimate Lifeform: He considers himself this.
Gamou: I am the apex of human evolution, the Sagittarius Zodiarts.
  • Villain Ball: Minor instance. He started to banish Hayami to the Dark Nebula for losing to Fourze though (a) he actually succeeded in the task he'd been sent to do despite battling Fourze Cosmic at the same time and his powers aren't even strictly combat-oriented, and (b) he was the only one left whose job was to recruit new Zodiarts, as the remaining Horoscopes were bodyguard Tatsugami and executioner Virgo - more about punching things than the kind of job Sonoda and later Hayami had - and (c) his position with the school made him a very useful inside man, and with Sonoda gone, he's got no one else on the faculty. Basically, Gamou didn't just almost pull a You Have Failed Me on a guy who didn't fail, and in fact just did something highly impressive, but on someone totally irreplaceable. And while there are villains out there who'd utterly screw themselves out of victory for the sake of pointless cruelty because you're not properly eeeevil if you miss a puppy-kicking opportunity, as you see from the rest of this entry, Gamou was never like that before or since, so it was pretty glaring. There had to be less clunky ways to introduce the Eye of Laplace ability.
  • Villainous Breakdown: After Kengo denies him the entry into the Dark Nebula, he loses his composure and gets pissed, even beating around Tatsugami a bit before unlocking his Super Mode, though he gets a bit better.
  • Villain's Dying Grace: After being defeated by Fourze, resulting in a Super-Power Meltdown that will kill him, he uses the Aquarius Switch to revive Kengo before dying.
  • Walking Spoiler: Not the man himself, it's made very clear by his first appearance that he's the Big Bad. But his motivations, good lord...
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: If Sonoda is to be believed, he's apparently trying to benefit mankind. It seems he believes that the destruction of Japan would be worth forcing what will remain of humanity to evolve just as he did. Overlaps with Social Darwinist.
  • You Monster!: The Kamen Rider Club's reaction to him completely disregarding Hayami sacrificing himself for him.
    Sarina Sonoda/Scorpion Zodiarts

Sarina Sonoda/Scorpion Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Yuka Konan (live), Eiji Takemoto (voice, Scoprion Zodiarts)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sarina_sonoda.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scorpion_zodiarts.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scorpion_nova.png
The Zodiarts representing the constellation Scorpius, the Scorpion. It is the first of the Horoscopes to be seen, and distributes Zodiarts Switches to those who wish to gain revenge. In battle, it uses powerful kickboxing attacks. Despite the masculine voice, its true identity is Sarina Sonoda, Gentaro's first homeroom teacher and a beloved faculty member by other AGHS individuals.
  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: The stinger can pierce through the bottom of a metal trolley and stings Gentaro.
  • Beneath the Mask: Despite her popularity and kind demeanor, she can occasionally be heard complaining about the selfishness of her students behind their backs (especially Gentaro "delinquency" and Kengo's standoffishness). Taken up a notch when it is revealed she is actually the Scorpion Zodiarts.
  • Beware My Stinger Tail: It has an extendable scorpion tail on its head that can inject a deadly poison into whoever it stings. It was able to sting Gentaro and JK, and merely grazing Shun has that effect, but the three were saved with the Medical Switch.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Sonoda acts like a courteous teacher as a way to overlook the student body under her loyalty towards Gamou, attempting to persuade Switchers under her to unleash their darker emotions.
  • Brought Down to Normal: After being defeated by Fourze, she has her Switch taken away.
  • Canis Major: She was originally the Canis Minor Zodiarts, before she evolved into Scorpion.
  • Character Tics: Sucks her teeth in #17, to add to her growing dislike of Gentaro. Also doubles as a Mythology Gag to Kamen Rider Double, since this was Wakana Sonozaki's tic in that series.
  • Death by Irony: Sonoda's grudge on Gentaro ultimately defeated her. For added irony, said breakdown was caused by Miura rejecting the Orion Switch after it was offered again to him.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Hayami always calls her "My little pup" (Koinu-chan in Japanese), referring to her past as the Canis Minor Zodiarts, who has surpassed her Last One phase to become a Horoscopes.
  • Extremity Extremist: Doesn't rely on its hands at all during combat, preferring either its legs or Stinger Tail. She eventually becomes somewhat of a Bare-Fisted Monk, whatwith more common usage of the hands, and especially her legs, in combat.
  • Fate Worse than Death: She gets imprisoned within the Dark Nebula as punishment for screwing up her last chance.
  • Four Is Death: Got her ass beaten by Gentaro in #14 and got sent to the Dark Nebula in #18, four episodes later.
  • Hidden Depths: The novel reveals that as a teen, she was a lot like Yuki, until the death of her best friend sent her down the path that led her to joining the Horoscopes.
  • Hot Teacher: On the surface.
  • Important Hair Accessory: Her hair decorations are hardly appropriate for a high school teacher, but it turns out to be a mask for her being Scorpion.
  • Irony: If "The Melancholy of Sarina Sonoda" segment of the Net Movies are anything to go by, Sonoda had considered giving Yuki a Zodiarts Switch but deciding against it since Yuki had no real problems. Had Sonoda gave Yuki a Switch, regardless of if she was troubled or not, there was a good possibility that Yuki would have evolved into Gemini, saving her from being banished to the Dark Nebula.
  • It's Personal: Seems to be her preference as to whom he hands out Zodiarts Switches. Which is in line with both myths of Scorpius, where the Scorpion was sent to kill Orion due to a god (Apollo in one and Gaea in another) being offended by him. Sonoda herself grows a grudge against Fourze for constantly ruining her plans. It leads to her defeat, as she becomes so fixated on killing him she doesn't even consider taking a Villain: Exit, Stage Left as she'd done many times before.
  • Jack of All Stats: Great at attacking with its bare fists and feet and pretty much sends Fourze flying in almost every battle they have.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: Sonoda seems to be among the nicest faculty members in Amanogawa before it's revealed to just be a facade, yet she's more generous towards Hayami when compared to how other Horoscope members treat the latter.
  • Meaningful Name: The syllables in her name can be rearranged to form "Sasori na no da" or "I am the scorpion."
  • Mirror Character: The novel reveals that when she was a child, she had an obsession with space and wanted to be an astronaut, just like Yuki.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain!: When you think about it, it's her preference for choosing Zodiarts that the Kamen Rider Club was formed in the first place.
  • One-Winged Angel: Transforms her bottom half of her body into a giant scorpion form called Scorpion Nova in Episode 14. From what Gamou says, all 12 Horoscopes have the ability to become this.
  • Put on a Bus: Hayami's official explanation was that Sonoda-sensei had to take sick leave, when actually she was trapped into the Dark Nebula for screwing her last chance to defeat Fourze and Meteor.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: In contrast to Ohsugi, which is, again, on the surface.
  • Scorpion People: She gains a One-Winged Angel form that transforms it into a giant with a humanoid top and a bottom with a scorpion's legs and stinger.
  • Sensei-chan: Gentaro even refers to her as "Sono-chan-sensei", despite her gently reminding him "It's 'Sonoda-sensei'."
  • The Smurfette Principle: Sonoda is the sole female of the original Horoscopes.
  • Starter Villain: Is the first of the Horoscopes to show up and Fourze's first real challenge, but was beaten without even a Mid-Season Upgrade, and was considered in universe to be incompetent picking Switchers.
  • Superpower Lottery: Inverted. While the other Horoscopes have powers along the lines of invulnerable armor, the ability to steal souls, and the capacity to warp spacetime, having a poisonous tail really fails to measure up. Heck, she could probably have been beaten by one of the higher-end standard Zodiarts, like Dragon or Musca.
  • This Cannot Be!: Her reaction to Fourze managing to defeat her despite having already gone One-Winged Angel.
  • Undying Loyalty: Not to Tatsugami's extent, but Sonoda is wholly devoted to Gamou's cause and lives to meet his expectations.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: The novel reveals that she was a kooky space otaku as a young child and a teen.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Tends to do this when Fourze is coming close to victory until #14, when her growing grudge against Fourze for being too much of a Spanner in the Works gets in the way of her common sense.
  • Villain Forgot to Level Grind: Her problem wasn't getting weaker, but Fourze was getting stronger and she wasn't. She had to be given her One-Winged Angel form by Gamou, as opposed to all the other Horoscopes who got theirs without help.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Develops one in #13, having grown tired of the Kamen Rider Club's interference. Really loses it when Miura rejects the Orion Switch, not only trying to kill him, but going pretty much berserk, gunning for Gentaro's head.
  • Villainous BSoD: In the novel, after being released from the M-Bus, she takes the fact that the Horoscopes have been defeated and killed poorly, retreating to her parents’ house to regain her bearings, before going straight at a rocket station.
  • With My Hands Tied: Maybe not on purpose, but she doesn't even bother using her hands in its first fight with Gentaro.
  • Woman Scorned: Becomes this when her Switch was taken away after Fourze defeats her, vowing to work her way back up the ranks of the Horoscopes. However, even when she does get it, she fails.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Double Subverted. For falling to Fourze even after going One-Winged Angel, Gamou confiscates her Switch and passes the duty of passing Switches to Hayami for the time being. Then in #18 after she pleads for her Switch back but is easily defeated by Meteor, Sonoda gets imprisoned in the Dark Nebula by Virgo as punishment.
    Kouhei Hayami/Libra Zodiarts

Kouhei Hayami/Libra Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Kousei Amano

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kouhei_hayami.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/libra_zodiarts.png
The Zodiarts representing the constellation Libra, the Scales of Justice. The second of the Horoscopes to appear, it possesses various powers of illusion and fights using a Khakkhara shakujo. It only distributes Zodiarts Switches to those it feels have the potential to become Horoscopes, and personally mentors them to reach that point. His identity is Kouhei Hayami, AGHS's principal.
  • The Ace: He's got a Ph.D in physics, is so popular-and gorgeous-in the eyes of the School Faculty, the students and their mothers, and is just plain charismatic. Of course, that's not all he is.
  • Badass Bookworm: According to Word of God, cut scenes from #45 were going to depict him as this. Before becoming a Zodiarts, he was an astrophysics student, whom at some point met Gamou and joined the Zodiarts.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Succeeded in destroying the four stations in Kyoto and closing its Hole, which was the mission he was sent on, despite being defeated by Fourze. On top of this, he achieves his Supernova in the process.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Hayami's debut in #13 hints heavily that he is the Scorpion Zodiarts, as he has the same speech patterns and body language. He's not, but he is the Libra Zodiarts.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: It should be noted that he seldom actually uses that staff when he fights in one of his disguises.
  • Butt-Monkey: It appears that many of the other Horoscopes do not respect him as much as Sonoda.
  • Character Tics: Tends to use words relating to weight, such as "heavy" and "light". Yet another hint that he's Libra.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Has been threatened with banishment to the Dark Nebula quite a few times and was nearly put there at one point. It sort of feels like this when he and Tatsugami killed Emoto. Though this is more The Dog Barks Back, since he had Tatsugami do all the work, then proceed to mock Emoto after death.
  • Dragon with an Agenda: Mentions how he wants Sugiura for his own, undisclosed-as-of-yet plans. Nothing came out of this.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: After taking a hit meant for Gamou, he gets pelted through the Horoscopes switches-derived portal before it's disrupted and closed off for good. To make things worse, if you pay enough attention, as he's drifting away, you can see Libra get vaporized by a bolt of lightning. He's not trapped in the Dark Nebula or hurtling through space. Libra is flat-out dead.
  • Enemy Mine: He became an unofficial member of the Kamen Rider Club after he sees an You Have Outlived Your Usefulness coming from a mile away. It turns out that he was just faking though.
  • Evil Genius: Hayami's role amongst the Horoscopes. He is more manipulative and cunning than his comrades, and has found himself in the role of distributing Zodiarts as part of Gamou's master plan.
  • Evil Mentor: How he goes about dealing with his prospect Zodiarts and Sonoda. The Zodiarts he "mentors" even refer to him as "Master Libra".
  • Fake Defector: Hayami's tearful remorse for what he did to the heroes and the rest of the school and defection were nothing more than a facade and as part of his plan to awaken Ran's abilities as Pisces and to finalize Gamou's plans, even ruthlessly stating to Gentaro that he and the rest of the school were nothing more than Gamou's pawns.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Hayami acts as a charming, composed principal of AGHS, yet comes of as cunning and manipulative, let alone being somewhat vindictive with anything displeases him.
  • The Force Is Strong with This One: His supernova form allows him to detect those with the potential to become Horoscopes. What's more, he seems to be able to force them past the Last One stage in favor of becoming Horoscopes immediately.
  • Foreshadowing: in #37, he expresses sentiments that the astronaut exam would be a good way to spot potential Horoscopes. He got his wish at the end of #38, finding Taurus among the finalists.
  • Heel Realization: After all of his actions, he finally admitted it. Subverted in that he was a Fake Defector.
  • Hot Principal: Not only do the female students find him attractive, but so do the mothers of various students. Thus he immediately catches the attention of Sonoda, and the jealousy of Ohsugi. Just like with Sonoda, this is just a farce.
  • Karmic Death: After he revealed his deception to the Club, Hayami expressed to Gentaro of having zero remorse for ruining students' lives while claiming that Gamou understood him. Including with how much he feared in ending up in the Dark Nebula, Hayami shielding Gamou from Fourze resulted in him being vaporized by lightning from the actual Dark Nebula and Gamou denouncing his sacrifice. Not that it stopped the heroes from being shocked at his sacrifice.
  • Kick the Dog: In #43, alongside Tatsugami, he forced Yuki to push a switch to awaken her potential as the Gemini Zodiarts.
  • Killed Off for Real: He meets his end in #46 when knocked into the Dark Nebula by Fourze, after which he's struck by lightning and killed.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Right after Makise is dispatched, this guy sealed the deal on the Cerebus Syndrome.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: He didn't have a clue regarding Virgo's identity as Emoto up until #41.
  • Manipulative Bastard: A charming principal who proves to be quite the cunning individual, especially when staging Kijima into the Dark Nebula and his act towards the Kamen Rider Club.
  • Master of Illusion: He possesses several illusory powers, most notably the ability to make itself and others look like other people. At one point he even fights Fourze while disguised as a second Fourze.
  • Master of None: He doesn't have a lot of fighting capability and his illusion powers are only good for distraction.
  • Meaningful Name: His given name (Kouhei) means "fairness", which is in line with his balance motif.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: He has this moment when he realizes just how many people's lives he ruined by giving out all of the astroswitches. Subverted in the end, as he turns out to be a Fake Defector.
  • Nominal Hero: After his alleged Heel–Face Turn. He's the first to admit he is only siding with Fourze to save his own skin, but he will protect Ran at any cost, even if he has to take on Tatsugami without a switch.
  • Perpetual Smiler: He carries a smile on his face at all times. This lapses into Dissonant Serenity when he shows his true colors as a Manipulative Bastard.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: He really takes his role as a mentor to prospective Zodiarts seriously, but, of course, this only ties into the Horoscopes' goal of completing their roster. His abhorrence towards Kijima also counts, since he believes the latter to be too much of a loose cannon anyway.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue to Kijima and Yamada's red.
  • Shock and Awe: Can deliver a blast of electricity from his forehead. Said electricity is even able to brainwash Zodiarts, as seen with Perseus.
  • Smug Snake: It's becoming clear that he gives himself too much credit for being "Master Libra" and thinks he's more important within the Horoscopes than he really is. Overlaps with his frustrations that he's turning into The Un-Favourite, while Gamou gives Kijima more leniency. He starts to become even more smug after obtaining the Eye of Laplace, not hesitating to brag about it in Tatsugami's face.
  • Taking the Bullet: Just when Fourze had the chance to finish off Sagittarius, Libra jumps in the way and takes a Limit Break to the chest in his place.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Is able to teleport, leaving behind a blue nebula like light when he does so.
  • Villainous Breakdown: When he realizes that he's next on the You Have Failed Me chopping block, he doesn't take it well and instead begs like a dog to be spared. This triggers his Supernova transformation, allowing him to perceive who is or can become a Horoscope, an ability that causes Gamou to (understandably) spare him.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: He sees this coming from a mile away, and defects before the statement can be uttered.
    Kuniteru Emoto/Virgo Zodiarts

Kuniteru Emoto/Virgo Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Hajime Kanzaki (live), Rie Tanaka (voice, Virgo Zodiarts)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kuniteru_emoto.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/virgo_zodiarts.png
The Zodiarts representing the constellation Virgo, the Virgin Goddess Astraea. The third of the Horoscopes to appear, Virgo has various powers of spatial manipulation, such as the power to imprison people in a Pocket Dimension called the Dark Nebula. She first appears fighting against Fourze in Movie War Megamax. In reality, Virgo is Emoto, an old ally of Kengo's father and Gamou, who killed Rokuro Utahoshi prior to the series and also Tachibana.
  • The Atoner: Emoto actually wanted to make up for abandoning Rokuro to his death years back.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He's worse than Sonoda in this regard: Sonoda just stung people with poison, Virgo threatens to take people into the Dark Nebula! However, it turns out to be inverted, as he's actually a Double Agent.
  • Broken Pedestal: As Tomoko puts it:
    spoiler:"I couldn't believe you're such a bad person!"
  • Cast as a Mask: Rie Tanaka only features as Virgo's voice in Zodiarts form.
  • The Dragon: While at first Sonoda and then Hayami served this role directly, Hayami's description of her implied that he's closer to this role than the first two. It also helps that Emoto was a huge part of Gamou's life even before the latter met Tatsugami.
  • Dragon with an Agenda: Gamou didn't seem to know Virgo's other identity as Tachibana. For starters, he only learned of the latter's existence until the end of Aries' arc.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Rather like Meteor, he appears in Movie Wars Megamax before debuting at the end of #18.
  • Freudian Excuse: Virgo's abhorrence towards Gentaro's praise of friendship is stemmed from how Emoto's own friendships with Gamou and Kengo's father imploded.
  • Good All Along: Turns out he was staging a plan to make Gamou vulnerable when he got what he wanted while he was working with him, as a way to make it up to Rokuro and to help the Kamen Rider Club.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Emoto killed Rokuro because, as he states, he wanted to be the "Earth" rather than the "Moon."
  • Killed Off for Real: He's killed by Tatsugami for betraying the Horoscopes, making him the first Zodiarts to actually die.
  • Meaningful Name: Emoto backwards is otome, which means "maiden", one of the interpretations of the constellation Virgo.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Emoto came to sincerely regret killing Rokuro. His perspective on the moment shows Emoto's face quickly turn to one that screams this trope before he even made his way to the escape ship.
  • Pocket Dimension: The Dark Nebula, Which is really just a section of M-BUS.
  • Power Gives You Wings: As Virgo, Emoto has wings he can use as flight when in combat.
  • Power Levels: He states in #32 that Fourze's Cosmic States makes him almost equal to him in strength.
  • Power of the Void: In her tussle with Meteor in #22, she fired spheres of energy that would have possibly killed Meteor had he not moved. Why? Because one kind of energy sphere Virgo can fire are black holes.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: He objects to letting Taurus control and brainwash the school because individuality is kind of necessary for kids to want to use switches.
  • Redemption Equals Death: Upon revealing his colors to the Club and getting wounded by Gamou, Emoto spends his last moments inconspicuously giving Kengo information as he got struck by Tatsugami no long after, while dying knowing that he made friends in the end.
  • Redemption in the Rain: How his last moments ended up as.
  • The Reveal: His identity is quite well-hidden for most of the series, with only Gamou and Tatsugami being aware of it even within the Horoscopes. Also, the series' opening scene with Kengo's father fighting against a red-eyed astronaut? It wasn't Gamou, it was this guy.
    • And another reveal happened AGAIN in the very next episode, where he is Tachibana, the one who made Kamen Rider Meteor.
  • Samus Is a Girl: An inversion. Virgo's true identity is none other than Kuniteru Emoto, aka Tachibana, a male character who transformed into a female-themed monster.
  • The Smurfette Principle: Notably averted. While it may seem that Virgo is the only major member of the Horoscopes that's clearly female, his identity as Emoto showed otherwise.
  • Sphere of Destruction: What he used as a threat to Miu, which would have hit Jun had it not been a warning shot.
  • Stone Wall: Prefers to utilize a very defensive fighting style, and can use her wings as a shield. Even her staff projects an invisible forcefield. Unless she taps into the power of Movie Wars Megamax's budget, whereupon CGI wings and Wire Fu turn her into an outright Lightning Bruiser.
  • Thinking Up Portals: Has the ability to create portals into space, much like Fourze's Cosmic States, as well as teleport people into the Dark Nebula.
  • Two Aliases, One Character: Kunitero Emoto is 1) an old friend of Rokuro Utahoshi, 2) Virgo Zodiacts, 3) Tachibana and 4) the one who killed Rokuro Utahoshi.
  • Unsettling Gender-Reveal: What with the way Virgo looks, you'd think Virgo would've been a female behind the monster form. He isn't.
  • Walking Spoiler: You can't say anything about Emoto except he knew Kengo's father without getting one spoiler out in the open.
    Natsuji Kijima/Cancer Zodiarts

Natsuji Kijima/Pegasus Zodiarts/Cancer Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Soran Tamoto

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/natsuji_kijima.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cancer_zodiarts.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cancer_nova.png
The Zodiarts representing the constellation Cancer, the Crab sent to distract Heracles from his tasks. The fourth of the Horoscopes to appear, it possesses an incredibly tough skin that makes it hard to damage and sharp pincers that can slice through anything. His true identity is Natsuji Kijima, a Rakugo Club member who evolved from Pegasus.
  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: His open claw is even capable of cutting through Fourze's shield, which is made of a super-durable metal called Astorium.
  • And I Must Scream: Hayami and Virgo handle his punishment — Hayami transforms him into the policeman that hounded Gamou in #27 and then tricks Virgo into sending him into the Dark Nebula, with his fan left behind.
  • Beneath the Mask: A very jolly fellow who sprinkles Purple Prose rakugo phrases and puns into his normal speech. After he is uncovered as Pegasus, he drops the flowery speech and becomes sinister and cold.
  • Character Tics: Clops his feet like a horse when about to throw a high kick. Kijima only did this in order to incriminate Haruka Utsugi, and drops it once he is uncovered. After evolving into Cancer, he's more often seen tapping that fan of his in time with the dialogue.
  • Deadly Game: How he hands out Zodiarts Switches. He calls it "Open Mic From Hell". You make him laugh? Congratulations, you get a Zodiarts Switch! You fail? Say goodbye to your soul.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Part of the reason why he framed Haruka Utsugi was because she took away his fan when he accidentally hit her with it, though he admits he would've done it to someone anyway and that was just why he did it the way he did.
  • Expository Pronoun: Because he's a rakugo performer, he uses the first-person pronoun atashi.
  • Faux Affably Evil: The fact he's polite and cheery just makes him more disturbing.
  • Fireballs: One of his abilities.
  • For the Evulz: How he approaches students with Switches. He basically asks if they want to have fun. Made even worse in #27: He takes a couple of athletes' souls away because none of them could make him laugh. And those that could were given a Zodiarts Switch instead!
  • Frame-Up: Tries to frame Utsugi by mimicking her fighting style, dropping some evidence and telling the KRC that she took it from him, and outright saying "Do you really want to hit your teacher?" when Gentaro fights him in #21.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Found his switch by complete accident (rather than being selected by the Horoscopes) and still manages to be the first Monster of the Week to evolve into a full blown Horoscope.
  • Giant Enemy Crab: Moreso when Supernova form kicks in #27.
  • Ham-to-Ham Combat: One-sided, actually. During his fight with Meteor in #27, he would not shut up.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard:
    • He would free the souls of the KRC he imprisoned should one make him laugh. Ryusei engages him in battle and the sight is so hilarious to Kijima that he laughs...which is what Ryusei wanted him to do.
    • Another thing that really bites him in the ass was keeping the identity to Meteor to himself. If he had explained it to Gamou instead of promising to tell it later, he'd probably would still be a Zodiarts. Not that Hayami (and later Virgo Zodiarts) was gonna give Kijima a chance anyways.
  • Irony: Cancer was supposed to pinch at the toes of Hercules while Hercules battled the Hydra. Hercules squashed him pretty easily. Here, Cancer's been really hard to destroy due to his powerful armor and the fact that he runs away just before Gentaro puts the finishing blow on him.
  • Kill It with Fire: Thus far the only thing capable of damaging him. Until #28, that is.
  • Laughably Evil: Seems to be an intentional tactic of his to get under his opponents skin and confuse them. Makes him even more disturbing when he does stuff like steal people's souls.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Fast, strong and takes most hits without a scratch on his shell.
  • Making a Splash: Another of his abilities.
  • Meaningful Name: The kanji of his given name can be read as "kani" (Japanese for "crab") based on the on'yomi pronunciation. His Horoscopes name of Cancer can also refer to the sickness which is a result of rapid uncontrolled growth, which Kijima's constant acquisition of new powers certainly resembles.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: In a twist on things, Played for Drama. As Cancer, Kijima develops powers abnormally fast. Initially his destructive power is limited to close range only for him to develop a beam version of his claw. He gains the ability to form a spray of bubbles he can use to hide himself or escape from enemies out of nowhere and during his final arc he even gains the power to tear out and clip people's souls and then develops Supernova without any help from Gamou. It's noted by other Horoscopes and his boss however that he's developing too much and too fast, as shown when his first transformation into Cancer Nova nearly kills him.
  • One-Winged Angel: Not only does he evolve into Cancer near the end of #22, but eventually also Cancer Nova at the end of #27. Worse? He managed to reach it without help!
  • Pet the Dog: In the Fourze novel, Kijima helps Ryusei and Tomoko get tickets to go to the senior prom together with their friends, which they otherwise wouldn't be able to do (Tomoko isn't in senior year and Ryusei has returned to his original school.)
  • Psycho for Hire: Unlike the other Horoscopes who seem to be Well Intentioned Extremists, Kijima is just a jackass who enjoys what he does.
  • Pungeon Master: A member of the school's Rakugo Club, he often mixes puns and wordplay into his speech. Especially obvious in #27, when he spends a couple of minutes during his fight with Meteor making puns about fish and tadpoles, to Meteor's growing annoyance.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red to Hayami's blue. (One of two)
  • Shadow Archetype: Kijima is one to Ryusei, which the former lampshades in #27. Both are liars, hiding a secret from everyone. At first, Kijima was hiding his identity as Pegasus, though he did drop that act when he became Horoscopes. Ryusei, meanwhile, has been hiding his identity as Meteor but despite his aloofness, he learns to care for others. The parallels between the two of them are drawn constantly, with Ryusei even being the one to discover Kijima's identity as a Zodiarts, and Kijima being the first person to learn of Ryusei's secret identity.
  • Sixth Ranger: His role amongst the Horoscopes. The first to surpass Last One and become a Horoscopes since Sonoda, he was also responsible for dishing out The Worf Effect for a good while before his enemies one-upped him.
  • Super-Toughness: And how! He's basically immune to everything that Fourze can throw at him, except for prolonged exposure to fire and Kamen Rider Meteor's Finishing Move.
  • We Can Rule Together: Kijima made that offer to Ryusei in exchange for keeping mum about his secret identity.
  • Xanatos Gambit: His way of handing out Zodiarts Switches. They make him laugh? He hands out a Switch and a Zodiarts is let loose, continuing his mission. They don't? He gets their soul and becomes more powerful.
  • You Fight Like a Cow: Mostly in his battle against Meteor.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: Type A. In #27, he was able to collect souls that look like rings and then snip them with his pincer, sending their owners into comas in the process. And he does it on the Kamen Rider Club in #28, almost snipping off Tomoko's had Ryusei not come in in time.
    Tatsumori Yamada/Aries Zodiarts

Tatsumori Yamada/Aries Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Kazuma Kawahara

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aries_zodiarts.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aries_nova.png
The Zodiarts representing the constellation Aries, the Ram with the Golden Fleece. The fifth of the Horoscopes to appear, he can control the mental facilities that regulate sleep, tranquillising those who resist his will. His alter-ego is Tatsumori Yamada, a transferee to Subaruboshi from Amanogawa.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: Well of course the Zodiarts that controls sleep would be the one that's a sheep.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: He was actually name-dropped in #17, 14 episodes before he made his debut.
  • Convenient Coma: He can induce this upon anyone else. Ironically, he's now in one of these.
  • Deal with the Devil: He gave one of these to Ryusei to save Jiro, in the cost of killing Fourze. He then paid his end of the bargain and revived Jiro. Bonus points in that he looks like a traditional devil with those ram horns.
  • Death by Irony: Almost. He's last seen lying comatose in hospital after losing his Switch.
  • The Dreaded: Among Subaruboshi students.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: In #30, after Meteor's brief altercation with Libra at Subaroboshi, someone in an Amanogawa uniform ominously walks past.
  • Foil: He's an amoral AGHS student who uses his Zodiarts Switch to torment others For the Evulz and is actively opposing Hayami — just like Kijima. Unlike Kijima, Yamada isn't loyal to Gamou nor has at least a tiny bit of devotion to the Horoscopes' cause.
  • Hidden Depths: Bastard that he is, it's still worth mentioning that he doesn't back out of his arrangement with Ryusei. Mind you, it goes horribly wrong, but he did heal Jiro. Granted we never found out why so it could be Pragmatic Villainy.
  • I Gave My Word: If Ryusei killed Fourze like he requests, he'll bring Jiro back without any problems. He keeps his end of the bargain, surprisingly, while Jiro went back to the coma after learning what Ryusei did to ensure he woke up.
  • Irony: Ryusei transfers to Amanogawa in search for Aries, except that Aries was the student who transferred to Subaruboshi in his place.
  • Karmic Death: After being defeated by Fourze, he is shown in the hospital in a coma, just like he did to his victims.
  • Killer Rabbit: Tatsumori supposedly transcended from Lepus.
  • Meaningful Name: The kanji in his name mean "dragon" and "guard/protect." In Greek mythology, Aries was a sacred golden ram whose fleece was guarded by a dragon.
  • Monster of the Week: The other Horoscopes are dangerous, long-term threats; Yamada, on the other hand, is essentially this, with some backstory relevance for Ryusei.
  • New Transfer Student: To Subaruboshi High.
  • Pet the Dog: For all of his nastiness, he did bring Jiro out of his coma after Ryusei fulfilled his side of the bargain.
  • Power-Up Letdown: He attempts to use Supernova against Fourze Cosmic States, but since he hasn't earned it himself or been granted it by Gamou, all that happens is his horns get bigger and removes the cape.
  • Prima Donna Director: With his power over Subaruboshi, he forces all the students and teachers to act in the plays he writes and knocks out everyone who he feels isn't up to snuff. The KRC's general reaction to his scripts is "Who Writes This Crap!?", and he's shown to be lousy at casting too (he turns the Judo Club into the Space Club, and when he criticizes a teacher's English she protests that she teaches gym).
  • Red Baron: He's known as the "Apostle of Sleep".
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red to Hayami's Blue. (One of two)
  • Remember the New Guy?: Flashbacks to the first episode show that he was there even though he's only actually introduced much later. He was also mentioned in #17 (Ryusei's debut) when both Gentaro and Sonoda note that Yamada was gone.
  • Shock and Awe: Emits electricity from his horn to paralyze people. Though, it's only use in the Net Movie so it might not be canon in the show.
  • Sixth Ranger Traitor: His role amongst the Zodiarts, though him mouthing off to Hayami and deciding to do whatever he feels like could be considered as him "betraying" Hayami.
  • The Sociopath: What his time at Subaruboshi and evolving into Aries turned him into: A tyrant who forces everyone else in the school to go along with his plays against their will let alone any lack of consideration for them and places those who defy him into a deep sleep.
  • Squishy Wizard: His staff is pretty much his only means of one-upping his opponents. Once Fourze got Cosmic States, his advantages were completely lost.
  • Status Effects: Has the power to put anyone he touches with his staff to sleep or shut down the use of the Astroswitches temporarily.
  • Tyrant Takes the Helm: He took over Subaruboshi with an iron fist.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Did he ever wake up from his coma?
    Kou Tatsugami/Leo Zodiarts

Kou Tatsugami/Leo Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Kazutoshi Yokoyama

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kou_tatsugami.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/leo_zodiarts.png
The Zodiarts representing the constellation Leo, the Nemean Lion. The sixth of the Horoscopes to be formally introduced in the television series, although he is featured in the opening title sequence and made a few non-speaking cameos beforehand. He is a proficient and deadly fighter. His true identity is Kou Tatsugami, Gamou's bodyguard.
  • All Your Powers Combined: He has been entrusted the Switches of past Horoscopes by Gamou for safe-keeping. He can use them to take the forms of past Horoscopes like Aries, Aquarius, Cancer, Capricorn, and even Virgo.
  • Berserk Button: He flipped after Gentaro approached Gamou without a regard for the latter's position. Gamou even held him back to make him keep his cool, but that didn't stop Tatsugami from delivering a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown to Fourze unprovoked later that night.
  • The Brute: Tatsugami's role in the Horoscopes, not only as one of the more physically stronger members, but also with his agressive personality and ability to use other Horoscopes Switches as well.
  • The Cast Show Off: Kazutoshi Yokoyama was originally a stuntman for JAC, the stunt group for most Kamen Rider series. As such, he has some amazing untransformed fighting scenes, prime example would be his fight against Ryusei in #47.
  • Character Tics: Manipulates walnuts in his hands, similar to Baoding Balls, sometimes crushing them into dust.
  • Composite Character: A lion-motif major villain who uses the powers from his comrades to fight the heroes and is associated with the Big Bad. Not only is this remotely similar with Kazari, but Tatsugami also has some of Uva's anger issues as well as Gamel's massive strength and severe devotion to the one person he cares about.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: It is revealed in #47 that Tatsugami was nothing more than an ally-way brawler drunk on the power of his fighting prowess. It all changes when Gamou presents him with a Zodiarts switch.
  • Deadly Upgrade: He shows this trait far more than any other Zodiarts bar Gamou himself. His Cosmic Energy induced forced evolution has pushed him so far that he literally cannot survive without Cosmic Energy. By the finale, it's gotten to the point where being forced out of his Leo Zodiarts form actually kills him.
  • Death Glare: Either towards Hayami or any of the heroes.
  • Dragon Their Feet: We've seen Fourze gain five powerups, three Horoscopes have been lost (though they assume that they could just get two of them back from the "Dark Nebula"), and this guy didn't act in any fashion. Justified with his role as Gamou's bodyguard, instead of handing out Switches like Sonoda, Hayami, and Kijima, an executioner like Virgo, or just fooling around like Yamada.
  • Dragon with an Agenda: Tatsugami hints at looking for a McGuffin called the "Core Switch", and mentions that it will surprise even Gamou, indicating that the latter has no idea. Though unlike most cases of this, he is completely loyal to the Big Bad, and was apparently just trying to help further Gamou's plans.
  • Dumb Muscle: Even if he managed to help Hayami's plan to get Picses, he's not usually assigned to recruit Zodiarts because his general M.O. boils down to "just press the switch already, dammit!"
  • Early-Bird Cameo: He can be sighted in group shots of the four initial Horoscopes and during scenes where they're all together long before he's even given a single line or any plot relevance.
  • Evil Counterpart: Could serve as this to either of the Kamen Riders, really. Like Gentaro, he is devoted to helping his friend (Though it does border on an unhealthy obsession at times), and like Ryusei he holds a great amount of martial arts expertise. Also like the Kamen Riders, he can change out what Switch he's using to gain new powers. More specifically, his loyalty to Gamou is a complete opposite of Ryusei. While yes, both of them are willing to throw themselves to protect the ones they love, Ryusei also values his own life, having friends and a love interest in Tomoko while Tatsugami has nothing outside of a life and will throw it all away if it fulfills Gamou's orders.
  • The Juggernaut: Thus far has been pretty much unstoppable to everything thrown at him, including both Fourze Cosmic States and Meteor Storm, and having the power to go with it. In human form he can withstand the one-inch punch. You know, that same punch that killed Gentaro?
  • Kick the Dog: In #43, alongside Hayami, he forced Yuki to push a switch to awaken her potential as the Gemini Zodiarts.
  • Killed Off for Real: Courtesy of Meteor Storm in the finale.
  • Meaningful Name: His family name sounds similar to tategami, meaning "mane", while the kanji used for his first name means "roar."
  • Mighty Glacier: Tall, slow and powerful. He can pummel both Cosmic States Fourze and Meteor Storm without breaking a sweat!
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: Part of the Leo Zodiarts form is a mouth full of fangs that take up roughly a third of his face.
  • Mysterious Past: All that's mentioned is that he was a street punk going into fights until Gamou found him.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: see Berserk Button; Gentaro had little margin to transform, let alone defend himself from the assault!
  • Not So Above It All: When he arrives at the Rabbit Hutch to wreck the place, he lets out an almost playful "Gao!" before transforming. Given he's giving a sadistic Slasher Smile to the KRC at this point however, it's more him playing with his prey than an actual endearing trait.
  • Satellite Character: Pun unintended, but most of his character revolves around Kougami and the only thing we know about him is that he used to partake in alleyway fights. Of course, having his character based around Kougami also means he has little value over his own life.
  • Shadow Archetype: In a way, Tatsugami's loyalty to Gamou is a darker take to Ryusei's loyalty to Gentaro post Cosmic States debut. Ryusei was willing to take a bomb for Fourze to save him from danger and even vows to protect Gentaro from harm, but Ryusei also knows that he won't throw away his life for Gentaro and he cherishes the bonds he has with the Kamen Rider Club and his feelings for Tomoko, whereas Tatsugami has no life, no purpose outside being Kougami's right-hand dog and will gladly offer his life for a lost cause.
  • Super-Scream: Has a powerful roar that can cause shockwaves.
  • Undying Loyalty: In general, Tatsugami is present as the most loyal Horoscopes to Gamou. Gamou orders him to do something? Tatsugami unquestionably complies. His boss gets touched, even when it's without any offense whatsoever? Tatsugami beats the person/people almost either immediately or later. Finding out that a fellow Horoscopes went against the "great man"? Tatsugami makes sure that he kills that individual. It has ultimately gotten to the point to where Tatsugami wouldn't mind being sacrificed for his master's ultimate goal of meeting the Presenters.
  • Wolverine Claws: Can turn his forearms into a spectacularly large set.
  • You Have Failed Me: Told Hayami that should he fail the Kyoto mission, it will also be his last.
    Tojiro Goto/Capricorn Zodiarts

Tojiro Goto/Capricorn Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Ryousuke Kawamura

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tojiro_goto.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/capricorn_zodiarts.png
The Zodiarts representing the constellation Capricorn, the sea goat. The seventh of the Horoscopes to appear, he can freely manipulate sound to his advantage. He's a student who turns out to be an old friend of JK's and wishes to reform their old band to become superstars.
  • Anime Hair: His is all spiked up.
  • Anti-Villain: Type IV. He's much less malevolent than most of the other Horoscopes before him, and really just wants to play music rather than hurt anyone. He initially only fights because Fourze attacks him first.
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: He becomes Capricorn so he can further his music career.
  • Dreadful Musician: In human form, but not in Zodiarts form.
  • Foreshadowing: He was tasked by Gamou to find the Core Switch, and his powers apparently resonate with it. And there's one student who was most affected by said power...
  • Hate Plague: Capricorn's music triggers a variety of this in those who hear it and aren't shielded by having Cosmic Energy in their bodies. Those affected by it go berserk, but not necessarily in a violent manner: the members of the Kamen Rider Club affected by it are compelled to perform an outlandish rock song of their own. The music also doesn't grant any additional energy or protection from an adrenaline crash, so the infected collapse from exhaustion within about a day.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: After being defeated by Fourze, his memory was wiped by Virgo.
  • Magic Music: Can create Music Staffs to entrap his opponent, or entrance them.
  • Meaningful Name: "Goto" sounds like the Japanese pronunciation of "goat".
  • Monster of the Week: Capricorn was treated similarly to Aries. Instead of being a general like Leo, Libra, and Virgo, he was just a Monster of the Week with backstory relevance for JK.
  • Shout-Out Theme Naming: His name is turned into his old nickname by shortening further till it's read roughly like GOD, antagonist organisation to Kamen Rider X — which JK was named for.
  • Spoony Bard: His Multi-Stringed Koto Uruk which is only used to blast a Musical Staff to ensnare his opponent. He doesn't use the music to brainwash his opponents (Ryusei notes that both he and Gentaro are immune to his song due to being shielded by Cosmic Energy) nor actually use it to his advantage (say, make the rave zombies to shield him so that the Riders can't touch him), and once Cosmic States captured the music he played, he had nothing left in his arsenal. It's this even outside of battle; when he plays his guitar the power of the Zodiarts Switches intensify. Moreover, the only reason he gets the power of Supernova was so that he can use it to see whether or not Gamou can sense the power of the legendary Core Switch.
  • Squishy Wizard: Like Aries above, he only uses his guitar as a means of attacking. Once Fourze ensnared him with his own music, he was done for.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With JK. The end of #36 shows that they're hanging out again though.
  • Villainous Breakdown: After seeing Gentaro both steal the show and turn JK against him, he really loses it. Though this may have something to do with the Supernova energy Gamou put in him.
    Erin Suda/Aquarius Zodiarts

Erin Suda/Aquarius Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Karen Takizawa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/erin_suda.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aquarius_zodiarts.png
The Zodiarts representing the constellation Aquarius, the Water-Bearer. The eighth of the Horoscopes to appear, she is able to use Cosmic Energy to heal herself. Erin is revealed to want to pass the mock space exam to become an astronaut like her father and will not let anyone stand in her way...not even Genki Girl and her rival, Yuki Jojima.
  • The Ace: Transfer student from America who is smart, athletic and super-hot as JK puts it. This is even lampshaded with the letter A on her chest in regards with the exam.
  • Anti-Villain: Another Type IV. Her first order of business as a Zodiarts was to heal Kengo, and she's only hostile to Gentaro because of his friendship with Yuki. After learning what really happened with the robot test, she does the Secret Handshake with Yuki and asks for a battle with Fourze. She then thanks Gentaro before Virgo retrieves her and erases her memory.
  • Bookends: Her last scene shows her "first" meeting with Gentaro and Yuki in front of the JAXA monument, just like when she was first introduced.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Another to put her own spin on Gentaro's “Uchuu Kita!/It's Space Time!”.
  • Death Glare: Has this down to a fine art.
  • Expy: Let's see. Serious Business about something? Check. Hates Genki Girl Yuki but doesn't have qualms with anyone else? Check. Has a Pet the Dog moment despite being a Zodiarts? Definitely. Gets talked to by Gentaro and immediately has a My God, What Have I Done? moment shortly thereafter? Yep. Said My God, What Have I Done? moment coincides with something in relation to Yuki Jojima? Uh-huh. She's pretty much the Horoscopes version of Motoyama (Perseus).
  • Foil: To Yuki. Where Yuki is hyperactive, loud and energetic, Erin is calm, quiet and still. Where Yuki believes in praying to the "Rocket Gods" and miracles, Erin believes in using skill to get what a person wants. Where Yuki tries to lift everyone spirits by being goofy, Erin tries to shut it down by being reasonable.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: To make a long story short, she despises Yuki Jojima. More specifically, she hates Yuki Jojima due to the resemblance of a person who took her father's spot in going into space.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Anything that comes out of Yuki's mouth makes her panic and crazy; she goes overboard when she assumes Yuki hid the camera parts for the team's robot to make her look bad—the keyword being "assumes".
  • Healing Factor: Her water jugs on her shoulders can heal anything...even a Cosmic States Limit Break!
  • Hot-Blooded: Slightly Deconstructed. She's clearly grouchy but reasonable, right up until she thinks Yuki cheated her to make herself look better. She laser focuses in on the perceived slight, angrily arguing with the proctors about their decision without stopping to think about why they made that decision and it leads to her rashly shoving Yuki down a hill in her Zodiarts form. It also leads to her regretting her actions once the truth comes out.
  • I Gave My Word: She made a promise to Gentaro that she'd give a fair fight to Yuki during the exams.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Just like Goto prior, she has this too. However, the ending of #38 ends on a positive note with her excitably interacting with Gentaro and Yuki.
  • Making a Splash: Except her water gimmick acts as a Healing Factor, and she attacks with that nasty cat-o-nine-tails thingy.
  • Malaproper: She has a hard time pronouncing some Japanese sayings, such as proclaiming that she is "filthy" instead of "flawless" in Zodiarts formnote ; that's how Gentaro figured out Erin was Aquarius. It even goes to the point that the Zodiarts have to correct her pronunciation. Justified in that she is foreigner and Japanese is damn hard to learn as a second language.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name is an anagram of Eridanus, a mythical Greek river that is somewhat associated with Aquarius.
  • Mirror Character: Even though she won't admit it, she is actually similar to Yuki. Both wish to go to space, and both are determined to do the best of their abilities. It just emphasizes that their ways of leading (where Erin immediately takes charge and tells them what to do and Yuki just suggests something and presses on knowing that people will despise her for doing so) that are huge contrasts.
  • Monster of the Week: Just like Capricorn and Aries.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Gentaro explains to Erin that Yuki did hide the camera parts because what she found in the box were instructions for the robot the team had to make. It was a Secret Test of Character to see what the team could do under circumstances, and Yuki created that cat to make up for the loss. Gentaro notes that by being the leader, Yuki would be downright hated by everyone else, but she was willing to do so for the sake of the team. And when Erin returns after pushing Yuki off of the hill, Yuki states that she should leave the girl behind and save herself. Damn.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • The first thing she does as Aquarius? Use the water from her healing jugs to heal Kengo. Unfortunately, not only does it NOT take, but in #45 Kengo relapses worse than before.
    • Despite being cold to Yuki, she also praises at how Gentaro and Kengo have the potential to become astronauts.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Because she was so angry at Yuki, she never got a chance to ask why Yuki hid the camera parts until Gentaro revealed that it was all a Secret Test of Character.
  • Serious Business: Going into space and passing the mock space exam is very important to her, since her father never had a chance to go. Thus while she is nice to Gentaro and Kengo, she utterly despises Yuki because she doesn't believe the Genki Girl is taking the whole thing seriously.
  • Stone Wall: That Healing Factor of hers makes it near impossible for her to be defeated. But if you can destroy both the water jars on her shoulders at once (even one jar is enough to heal the other), she's done for.
  • Visual Pun: Aquarius is the water carrier. So naturally, she's got a great big pair of jugs, as in the jugs on her shoulders.
  • Worthy Opponent: Considers Kengo and Gentaro these in the astronomy exam. Yuki, on the other hand, is the exact opposite.

    Yuta Sugiura/Taurus Zodiarts

Yuta Sugiura/Taurus Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Kenta Itogi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yuta_sugiura.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/taurus_zodiarts.png
The ninth member of the Horoscopes to appear, he is based off of Taurus, the Bull. He was present for the mock space exam, though he was later revealed to have the potential to become Taurus. An avid golf player, who forces people to sign contracts with him, and the loser is banned from interfering with the winner in any way. Seeing himself as a force that should not be defied, he has starting changing the rules at AGHS, forcing those who do not comply by contract.
  • The Ace: In addition to being one of the four to make it into the school space program, he also bests JK and Gentaro in their specialties of break-dancing and double dutch. Considering that he explicitly breaks the rules of physics during the competitions, it's logical to assume that the switch is helping him out somehow.
  • And I Must Scream: Unlike Goto and Erin, he got sucked into the Dark Nebula. While in Zodiarts form! Thankfully it was later revealed that the "Dark Nebula" is actually a stasis system on M-BUS and he wasn't actually conscious while he was there.
  • Beat Them at Their Own Game: What he did to Gentaro and JK.
  • Character Tics: Always playing mini-golf in his office.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: At first, he seems to have just been there for the exam. At the end of the episode, though, Hayami reveals that Sugiura ended up being Taurus.
  • Deal with the Devil: Seems to be his MO when dealing with potential threats.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Apparently, he had a crush on Sayaka, the former student council president, and that is the real reason why he has gone so far off the deep end.
  • Eyepatch of Power: He has one in his Zodiarts form. Note: it's on his right.
  • Foil: To Yamada, both having been Control Freaks that suffer from god complexes and use their newfound power to rule their school with an iron fist. Unlike Yamada, Sugiura learned the error of his ways and undid his actions thanks to Sayaka.
  • A God Am I: Thanks to Hayami's manipulation, Sugiura has gained a god complex.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: He's the first of the Horoscopes to actually legitimately betray the others and try to join the Kamen Rider Club's side. Cue Virgo and the Dark Nebula.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: His attempts to "improve" the student body make him out to be as dangerous as the four men who got Sayaka injured.
  • Meaningful Name: The syllables in his name can be rearranged into "Taurusu Gyu" (Gyu meaning "bull").
  • Mind Control: Not only does signing his contract make people lose all body function, but thanks to his Gu-anna, he can suck out their souls and put them under his control. He even goes as far as to brainwash Meteor!
  • Mundane Utility: Gu-anna, the medium of his Mind Control powers, and also an excellent golf club.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: When confronted with the former School President, he finds that he can't actually steal her soul when he finds out she's deliberately breaking rules—wearing mismatched socks, uniform and having a barbecue on the school roof—and cries.
  • A Nazi by Any Other Name: The mannerisms of his disciplinary committee should give you a clue. However, this is because Sugiura had sucked out their souls beforehand.
  • Sixth Ranger Traitor: Also like Yamada, he has this role among the Horoscopes. While Yamada didn't so much as betray them as he did just utterly screw around instead of doing anything productive, Sugiura actually left the Horoscopes altogether.
  • Sore Loser: Even after losing the golf match, Sugiura refused to honor his word and brainwashed Ryusei.
  • Staff of Authority: His Gu-anna.
  • Tyrant Takes the Helm: Has started using his new found powers as a Horoscopes to severely limit the individuality of AGHS (Which is ironically the exact opposite of what Gamou wants) by enforcing new rules on the school, including a new dress code.
    Dark Yuki/Gemini Zodiarts

Dark Yuki/Gemini Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Fumika Shimizu (live), Hiromi Konno (voice)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dark_yuki.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gemini_zodiarts.png
The tenth Zodiarts to appear representing the constellation Gemini, the Twins. A dark aspect of Yuki that was created when Hayami and Tatsugami forced her to use a Switch that separated their body. Due to this, both Dark and Light aspects have a 24 hour time limit to see which side will be the dominant side, while the other one fades away.
  • Action Bomb: What her Gemini Supernova clone functions as.
  • Aside Glance: She glances at the camera when she does an Evil Laugh.
  • Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: The pranks Gemini pulls on the Kamen Rider Club: tying up Ohsugi's suspenders to stretch it to its limit, spraying JK with a water hose, dumping flour on Shun, and finally, throwing Miu off a balcony.
  • Death Dealer: Wields exploding cards called, respectively, Lynceus the red cards and Idas the blue cards as weapons.
  • Doppelgänger Attack: Like its name suggests, it can make a duplicate of itself as its Supernova ability, that explodes.
  • Expy: Design-wise, she looks like Nasca. In personality, Harley Quinn.
  • Genki Girl: A villainous example.
  • Having a Blast: Uses cards that explode. Red ones instantly explode, Blue ones act similar to the Stamper Switch.
  • Meaningful Name: An alternate spelling of Yuki Jojima in English (with a lot of liberties taken) is "Yuki Jousima", which can be rearranged to say "I am Soujikyuu"; "Soujikyuu" is the name of the Gemini astrological sign (not the constellation, which is Futago-za) in Japanese.
  • Stealth Pun: a double-themed character whose secondary motif is a jester; a joker. Don't get it?
  • Villainous Breakdown: Gets one when Gentaro shows Yuki her homemade Space Ticket and thus frees regular Yuki from fading away.
  • White Mask of Doom: As Dark Yuki...until spending enough time active causes her to occupy the real Yuki's presence, represented by her acquiring the real Yuki's face while forcing said White Mask onto her instead!
    Ran Kuroki/Pisces Zodiarts

Ran Kuroki/Pisces Zodiarts

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pisces_zodiarts.png
The eleventh and final Zodiarts that represents Pisces, the Fish. Ran Kuroki is a former school swimmer freshmen who was first mistrusting of her older classmates after an incident in the past, but changed her behavior after helping Gentaro save her friend Haru from being a Zodiarts; who she now regularly visits in the hospital. Was forced/willingly chose to use the Switch to save Hayami from Tatsugami. See the Students section for tropes relating to Ran herself.
  • Apocalypse Maiden: As the last Horoscope, the Club needed to protect her to keep her Switch from falling into Gamou's hands, allowing him to start his endgame to contact the Presenters. It didn't work out.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: Ran was a great swimmer and competent fighter even before becoming a Zodiarts, and managed to hold her own against Tatsugami even after first transforming.
  • Fish People: Pisces's general design motif makes her look like one.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Her underground swimming abilities allow her to move quite fast, and she is capable of matching Tatsugami in a fight.
  • The Load: In both arcs that she appears in, nearly all of Ran's decisions actively make the situation worse due to her rashness, violent tendencies, and smothering overprotectiveness towards Haru. Her second screw-up, with admittedly good intentions, almost caused a regional apocalypse.
  • Making a Splash: In addition to water-manipulation powers, Pisces can "swim" underground, as shown when fighting Tatsugami.
  • Meaningful Name: In the only other stretch of the group, when literally translating her name into English, you get "unbarked lumber" for "kuroki" and "orchid" for "ran", which form the (again a stretch) acronym UO which is the Japanese word for fish, which is what Pisces is represented by.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!: It turns out that Hayami and Tatsugami were banking on Ran to transform and save the former from the latter, therefore bringing the last Horoscopes switch into existence.
  • Prongs of Poseidon: The clone of Pisces in the movie uses a Type-1, but the Pisces in the show never uses it.
  • Token Good Teammate: Pressed her switch for entirely selfless reasons, and by far beats Capricorn, Taurus, and Aquarius eventually for the position of least malevolent Zodiarts.

Other Zodiarts

    Toshiya Miura/Orion Zodiarts

Toshiya Miura/Orion

Portrayed by: Masanori Mizuno

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/toshiya_miura.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/orion_zodiarts.png
A member of the football club who, fed up with his peers' poor treatment of him, accepts the Orion Switch to get revenge. His patron constellation is Orion the Hunter.
  • Camera Fiend: His family owns a photography studio. At the end of Episode 14, he quits the Football team and joins the Photography Club.
  • Carry a Big Stick: The Lemnos Club in Last One
  • Cold Turkeys Are Everywhere: The real reason why he's not going back to school. At the end of Episode 14, he recovers thanks to Gentaro giving Miura all the photos Mari took of him.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Gentaro extends his hand of friendship to him. However, his promise of friendship isn't enough to stop Miura's withdrawal symptoms from the Switch. Fortunately, at the end of Episode 14, he takes Gentaro's hand of friendship for good.
  • The Dog Bites Back: The part of his Freudian Excuse for accepting the power of Orion. Doesn't help that it wasn't intentional on Shun's part.
  • Embarrassing Old Photo: Inverted. He and his family take photos of young children in a studio they own.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Chios Shield in Last One.
  • No-Respect Guy: Gets told by Shun that he's going to be benched rather harshly. In Episode 8, Shun confesses this was due to his father telling him to do so, and he felt remorse when he saw how this took a toll in Miura's sanity.
  • The Power of Love: His love for Mari helps him overcome his addiction to the Orion Switch.
    Tamae Sakuma/Chameleon Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Maria Yoshikawa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tamae_sakuma.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chameleon_zodiarts.png
A third-year and member of Miu's cheerleading trio, whose disillusionment with Miu's two-year winning streak at the Queen Festival drove her into accepting the Chameleon Switch. Her patron constellation is Chamaeleon the Chameleon.
    Fumihiro Nitta/Unicorn Zodiarts

Fumihiro Nitta/Unicorn Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Kiyotaka Uji

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fumihiro_nitta.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/unicorn_zodiarts.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/unicorn_zodiarts_2.png
A first-year fencer who holds a deep grudge against JK for once using him as a human shield against a bunch of bullies, severely injuring his right arm and thus preventing him from competing in a fencing meet. Driven by vengeance, he accepts the Unicorn Switch. His patron constellation is Monoceros the Unicorn.
  • Cool Sword: Longsword Monarch.
  • False Friend: JK pretends to be friends with Nitta so that he can use him.
  • Game-Breaking Injury: Thanks to JK using him as a Human Shield, he got a bad injury on his right arm and thus was forced to miss out on a fencing tournament. This, coupled with him overhearing that he was simply used, fuels his hatred against JK. It's ultimately subverted as he's not only recovered, but well enough to augment the power of his Switch.
  • Human Shield: What JK made him to be in the past against a bunch of bullies. This fuels his rage against him.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Hard to hit, pretty speedy, and the rapier is pretty useful when regular attacks won't cut it.
  • Master Swordsman: Justified - the Switch evolved in reaction to his training in fencing.
  • Unicorn: Obviously.
    Teruhiko Satake/Hound Zodiarts

Teruhiko Satake/Hound Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Ryuji Sato

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/teruhiko_satake.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hound_zodiarts.png
A second-year and son of the notoriously ruthless detention teacher, Takashi, who has decided to rebel against his strict father. Along the way he receives the Hound Switch, and soon goes on a rampage. His patron constellation is Canes Venatici, the Hunting Dogs.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: His forearms have a sword-like blade.
  • Chain Pain: Both in human form (only for the symbolism though) and Zodiarts form.
  • Foil: He and Shun both have overbearing fathers; they only differ in actions - whereas Shun was driven into a breakdown but eventually found friends, Teruhiko decided to bust the chains out and act like a rebel.
  • Freudian Excuse: Conveniently mirroring Shun during #7-8.
  • Jack of All Stats: His two attacks are great for long and mid-range opponents. Unfortunately, most of the time he is able to escape due to something else happening (ie Scorpio helping him or Shun stopping Fourze from defeating him). Once Fourze had him in the open, he was done.
  • Japanese Delinquents: At home, anyway.
  • Living a Double Life: JK's intel reveals that at school he plays The Dutiful Son and student; after school, however, he became a petty thief stealing chain-like jewelry, using them as his weapons and also to symbolize his desire to break free from his father's shadow.
    Ritsuko Usaka/Altar Zodiarts

Ritsuko Usaka/Altar Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Hikari Kajiwara

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ritsuko_usaka.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/altar_zodiarts.png
A leader of a witches' coven that comprises Yuri Kuramochi, Masami Okamura and herself. As Altar she uses her powers to make it appear that her group has magical powers. Her patron constellation is Ara the Altar.
  • Evil Cripple: Its back is hunched in Zodiarts form.
  • Flaming Hair: Her hair in Zodiarts form is fiery... and it can shoot out fire like a flamethrower.
  • Freudian Excuse: Reveals that she's already sick of being ostracized because she can see things others couldn't, and getting blamed by teachers for any supernatural mishap she witnesses.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Tries to beat Fourze using her head of fire...but his Fire States makes him able to absorb her attacks, thus rendering them useless.
  • Magic Staff: Aradia Staff which produce fire and have psychokinetic ability.
  • Mighty Glacier: Doesn't move a lot and uses her levitation to get an advantage on her opponents. Her fire attacks are very powerful though...until Fourze absorbed it and sent it back at her.
  • Mirror Character: With Tomoko - both have ESP, as shown in a flashback when they first meet, as both of them reach for the same book. The glaring difference between their fates gets lampshaded below.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite her hatred of teachers, she liked Ms. Sonoda enough to be honest about how her presence could've saved her from the life of a witch and exhorts her to run away before she blows up the entire school. Becomes very hard to look at when you find out about what Sonoda really is 3 episodes later.
  • Playing with Fire: Her head can shoot fire like a flamethrower.
  • Then Let Me Be Evil: Being treated like a freak and always being blamed for the supernatural occurences only she can see caused her to turn bad for real. She actually quotes this almost word for word.
  • Villainesses Want Heroes: When she returns, it turns out she wants to ask Gentaro to the prom. She had to settle with Ryusei instead in #26.
    Hiroki Makise/Pyxis Zodiarts

Hiroki Makise/Pyxis Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Takafumi Shinohara

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hiroki_makise.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pyxis_zodiarts.png
Yuki's former "friend" at the Astronomy Club who has a massive crush on her. Uses his Zodiarts power as a way to get to her and then extract his revenge. His patron constellation is Pyxis the Mariner's Compass.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: No, really. Makise went from geeky self-absorbed dork with a crush on one girl, play-acting as the "rest" of the astronomy club "Party of One"-style, to invoking a Deal with the Devil with Yuki, turning Fourze's attacks on his friends and finally attempting to SHOVE A BUS FULL OF STUDENTS OFF A BRIDGE. And all within the sophomore year! There's also the fact that he's a complete weakling in hand-to-hand combat, the only blows he ever manages to score on Fourze being a result of pretty much just flailing his bladed arms around like a dork, but his power of being able to move things with his mind make him a threat.
    • He only gets worse in the follow-up novel “Ama-High Graduation”, where he is part of a Fusion Dance to summon the Argo Zodiarts.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: Averted. Despite the way they are placed and look, Pyxis does not use them for offense. They're more like dowsing rods that happen to be sharp.
  • The Bus Came Back: He comes back in #37.
  • Character Tics: Has a peculiar way of holding his switch, by sticking out his index finger as though he were pointing before clicking on the switch with his thumb, often holding his hand sideways as he does this. He holds the Radar switch like this in the movie when he switches it on.
  • Dirty Coward: The second his advantages are all lost, Makise tries to get the hell out of dodge. Tries.
  • Dowsing Device: How the blades on his arms function. They range from having the ability to find something (by letting someone touch them and think about the item in general), or using them to control people for his own use.
  • Explaining Your Power to the Enemy: He was smart enough to avert this; Fourze tried firing his Launcher missiles at Pyxis, not knowing of the latter's powers until it was too late, destroying what seemed to be the locker to the Rabbit Hatch in the process.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Yuki never even realized he was also participating in the test until they were all inside the Isolation Chamber. Naturally, she freaks out and backs away from him.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Was obsessed with Yuki for quite some time, but now that he's Pyxis he decides that it's time to crush her like (he thinks) she did to him, stating she was damaged goods. He's also the first Zodiarts to be portrayed as an unsympathetic Jerkass from the get go. What's more, he was like this before Scorpion gave him that switch!
  • Hate Sink: He's a misogynistic creep and a deranged Stalker with a Crush who attempts to murder a bus full of girls just because he's biter at one of them turning him down. Tellingly, he is one of the very few villains Gentaro doesn't try to befriend after defeating them.
  • He-Man Woman Hater: His stalker-like tendencies fueled this ideal. Tomoko lampshades this when he returns in #37—25 episodes later by saying, "Simply, he's a misogynist."
  • I Lied: Made a deal with Yuki to find the locker if she agreed to be his girlfriend and abandon her friends. He had no intention of keeping his side of the deal and instead blew up the locker so he could see her cry.
  • Jerkass: So much so that Gentaro doesn't extend his hand of friendship as he'd done with previous Zodiarts.
  • Kick the Dog: Only helped Yuki find the locker for the Rabbit Hatch just so he could destroy it and make her cry.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Of the Monster-Of-The-Week variety.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Becomes the first Switcher to miss out on Gentaro's friendship offer, leaving him instead to try to flee (in vain) from the girls whom he trapped on the bus at the end of Episode 12.
  • Loners Are Freaks: He's the only member of the Astronomy Club, with Yuki noting that it's because of his behavior that either everyone else left the club or no one ever joined it to begin with and is shown to interact with no one else in the school. He's also a deranged stalker with aspirations to murder.
  • Mind over Matter: Can control objects and people with the blades on his arms.
  • Never My Fault:
    • He seems completely oblivious to the fact Yuki isn't turning him down out of spite but out of repulsion over his creepy obsession with her, instead deciding that she deserves to suffer for it. This extends to the 20-30 other girls that have rejected him.
    • He also claims it's Fourze's fault for seemingly destroying the locker to the Rabbit Hutch when in fact he redirected Fourze's missiles. This one's Justified as he was actively trying to torment Fourze.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Let's see, a loony kid who obsesses over Yuki but then tries to destroy her once it became clear that she's not going to reciprocate his "feelings" and takes sheer delight in turning girls into shooting stars by killing them (as evidenced by a future diary full of cute pictures depicting his gambit to send a bus full of them crashing off of an unfinished bridge)? Oh, yes. And JK's intel implies he's been like this way before he even got his Switch! The Switch just made him worse.
  • Reformed, but Rejected: He seems to think he's reformed when he reappears in #37, but Yuki and Tomoko make it clear he has not been forgiven. Played straight in the movie, though, when he's one of the 40 people who activate the Astro Switches to power up Fourze and Meteor.
  • Slasher Smile: Has one of these whenever he's about to transform into Pyxis.
  • Squishy Wizard: He terrorizes Amanogawa with his telekinetic powers. The Zodiarts Switches' ability to mutate to suit their users' natural talents, however, leaves him in a bad spot. Whereas Miura was a football player, Sakuma a cheerleader, Nitta a fencer, Satake a brawler, and Usaka a firm believer in black magic, he's nothing but a geeky dork with serious psychological problems, leaving him an utter pushover in melee combat (one exploited by Fourze's mid-range-oriented Elek States).
  • Stalker Shrine: He wasn't only obsessed with Yuki. JK found out that the guy has a star map with the names and pictures of all the pretty girls in Amanogawa that he was gong to put on a bus and make it crash off of an unfinished highway.
  • Stalker with a Crush: For Yuki. He's given her incredible amounts of letters, gifts, emails and voicemails for God knows how long. Apparently extends to a host of other girls whom he forced onto a bus headed for an unfinished bridge.
  • Teens Are Monsters: He's the worst out of all of the unevolved Zodiarts shown, misogynistic, Kick the Dog, Psychopathic Manchild tendencies notwithstanding, and that's saying something!
  • Took a Level in Kindness: He's a nicer person once he reappears in #37. That's about all that can be said on that front.
  • Man Scorned: Yuki has no feelings for him whatsoever, so he made it his duty to crush her by trying to destroy the locker connecting to the Rabbit Hatch. In Episode 12, he tries to murder every other girl who shot him down by trapping them on a bus bound to drive off an unfinished bridge.
  • Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: In a rather lighthearted series where even Gamou seems to have good intentions and every other Zodiarts is an Anti-Villain, a genuinely creepy sociopath like this guy really stands out.

President of the Art Club. He takes the Perseus Switch so he can dish out some punishment upon anyone (and anything) that disturbs his work. His patron constellation is Perseus.
  • Ax-Crazy: He was the second craziest Zodiarts next to Makise, but he's shown to be much better off at the end of Episode 16.
  • Berserk Button:
    • This guy really hates Yuki's voice when she sings, but has no problem with Abe and the rest of the Glee Club.
    • He also hated Gentaro singing the Hayabusa song (although Gentaro might've done it deliberately to lure him out)
  • Childhood Friends: Abe mentions that they went to Elementary and Middle School together. At the end of #16, they're on the rooftop shaking hands.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: He's decided to turn everyone who kept him from painting in peace into stone statues. His victims are three punks who bullied him, a pitcher who accidentally knocked over some paint cans with a stray baseball, and two Gossipy Hens who, in his opinion, won't shut up. And that's not yet mentioning a building he damaged such that it will lean, because it was blocking his view of Mount Fuji.
  • Freudian Excuse: Because everyone's been bugging him and not letting him paint in peace, he's become a Zodiarts to shut them up for good.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: If you do anything to interrupt his painting, he'll go berserk.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: The first Zodiarts in the series to show redemption even in Last One stage, but Libra uses Mind Control on him to force him to fight Fourze.
  • Irony: His powers get blocked when Gentaro uses the Pen Switch on him and splatters ink on his Medusa Hand.
  • Mad Artist: His art is decent, but his obsession to his works is... unhealthy, to say the least. He gets much better at the end of #16, deciding to redo his Mount Fuji picture and is shown to be more calm about it.
  • Manly Tears: Breaks down into these, while in Zodiarts form mind you, once he sees the works of the kindergarten class surrounding a previous work of his, and realizing that he was only trying to make himself happy with trying to perfect his painting.
  • Master of None: Sure he has the sword and petrification powers, but he's nothing when they're rendered useless.
  • Medusa: His left hand turns people to stone. And if Gentaro was conscious the whole time... Kengo notes that the petrification wasn't complete and that's why Gentaro was able to move around despite becoming stone. Still, doesn't necessarily mean the other victims aren't somehow conscious despite being unable to move.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Upon arriving at the kindergarten class, he's awed that his previous painting is surrounded by all of the other works of the kids, reminding him of Gentaro's drawing of Mount Fuji. He then realizes that he had taken his art so seriously that he forgot the reason he'd been making it in the first place, to make the children happy, breaking down into tears. It's also implied that this canceled out his ability to evolve into a Horoscope.
  • The Perfectionist: He proclaims that anything that isn't perfect must be destroyed. Fortunately, he sees all of the kindergartners' drawings next to his old painting for them, and realizes that it doesn't matter if it's perfect or not. What mattered was the passion and love they put into them.
  • Pet the Dog: Yes, he's utterly crazy and has bad anger issues, but the reason he wants to perfect his paintings is because he simply wanted to make a kindergarten class he sometimes visits happy with his works. Also, he doesn't hate all of the Glee Club; his ire is just toward Yuki and her Hayabusa song. As shown in the end of #16, he's back to being good friends with Abe.
  • Secret Handshake: Shown twice; he does it with Gentaro (as Perseus) and then once more with Abe at the end.
  • Taken for Granite: What frequently happens to his victims.
    Kimio Nonomura/Lynx Zodiarts

Kimio Nonomura/Lynx Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Shohei Yamazaki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kimio_nonomura.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lynx_zodiarts.png
Kengo's self-proclaimed rival, who was given his Switch by Libra. He uses it in order to get rid of the competition of all students with higher test scores than he. His patron constellation is Lynx the Lynx.
  • Character Tics: Snapping his left thumb and index finger, which quickly outed his true identity to the Club.
  • Flat Character: Aside from having a one-sided rivalry with Kengo on the smartest student in school, there's nothing else on him. Even more so since we don't even see him after Gentaro destroys his Zodiarts switch.
  • Fragile Speedster: Uses his speed to his advantage, but can't take powerful hits.
  • Panthera Awesome: This monster looks like a wild cat.
  • Serious Business: He knocks out the competition for smartest student in the school.
  • Shadow Archetype: He's basically Kengo minus the idea of him wanting to make friends and the toleration for Gentaro's antics.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: He was last seen in the Rabbit Hutch with the KRC suggesting to put him in a storage closet. We don't even know whether or not he changed for the better.
    Jin Nomoto/Dragon Zodiarts

Jin Nomoto/Dragon Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Ryu Ando

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jin_nomoto.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dragon_zodiarts.png
Captain of the Track and Field team who became a Zodiarts to discourage outside help and to kill the Kamen Riders, starting to grow bored of track practice. His patron constellation happens to be Draco the Dragon.
    Natsuji Kijima/Pegasus Zodiarts

Natsuji Kijima/Pegasus Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Soran Tamoto

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pegasus_zodiarts.png
A Zodiarts who is attacking talented martial artists to test its own strength. Its patron constellation is Pegasus until he evolves into Cancer. See the Horoscopes section for tropes relating to Kijima.
  • Pegasus: Self explanatory.
  • Red Herring: Was thought to be Haruka. Kijima was deliberately impersonating her fighting style to set her up as said Zodiarts out of petty revenge for confiscating his fan, and For the Evulz.
  • Wings Do Nothing: They're just there for decoration.

    Norio Eguchi/Cygnus Zodiarts

Norio Eguchi/Cygnus Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Shugo Nagashima (live), Taiki Matsuno (voice, Cygnus Zodiarts)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/norio_eguchi.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cygnus_zodiarts.png
A student who wishes to be a hero after observing Fourze. He becomes a Zodiarts who styles itself as a Hero of Justice, complete with flashy entrance and catchphrase. However, it possesses a fragile ego and spitefully assaults anyone who slights it and even more so. Its patron constellation is Cygnus the Swan.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Zig-zagged. At first it seems like a hero for justice...until JK reveals that Cygnus beats people up who make fun of it. Misa Toriizaki was the suspect, but when it turned out to be Eguchi, he was revealed to have a split personality, where his darker side was the one beating people up including (mentally) Eguchi for not living up to his standards. By the time he resisted going the Last One Stage, however, he get abducted and the previous Red Herring lead her group into forcing him to transform!
  • Captain Ersatz: Of both Sieg and Kamen Rider IXA.
  • Character Tics: Assigning people points based off of good or bad actions; Cygnus fangirl Misa Toriizaki does the same but this is just a Red Herring.
  • Dirty Coward: The darker personality used Tomoko as a shield to keep Meteor from bashing him in. He does it again in Episode 24, this time with Toriizaki.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Due to his reputation as a hero, everyone simply calls him "Cygnus"; Gentaro's fight with his Last One state in Episode 24 marks the first time anyone refers to him as the Cygnus Zodiarts.
  • Fanboy: Wanted to become a hero after observing Fourze fighting off Lynx in Episode 18 then switched to Cygnus after he was saved from thugs. He decides to go back to worshiping Fourze via dressing up like him and helping a lady on the street.
  • Feather Flechettes
  • Glass Cannon: Can beat up people with a fight and uses his feathers as projectiles, but once Meteor gives him a good kick, he goes down.
  • Karmic Jackpot: He resists the urge to become the Cygnus Zodiarts through sheer willpower. However even though he was forced to transform thanks to Misa, he manages to bounce back and still continue doing heroics while Misa is last heard having to disband her cult.
  • Lady Macbeth: Became a victim of one, by Toriizaki just as his switch reached the Last One Stage.
  • Paint It Black: His Perpetual Molt does this once he triggers Last One.
  • Perpetual Molt: The indication that Cygnus has arrived.
  • Secret Test of Character: Gentaro gets the members of the KRC to dress up and act out in situations to let Eguchi help them out. Eguchi settles on helping the little school kid (aka Yuki) get her balloon back.
  • Split Personality: The first time Eguchi used the Zodiarts Switch, it caused the darker side of his personality taking control of Cygnus while the real guy remained oblivious.

    Yayoi Tokuda/Coma Zodiarts

Yayoi Tokuda/Coma Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Kasumi Suzuki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yayoi_tokuda.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/coma_zodiarts.png
A third-year who is head of the Newspaper Club. She becomes a Zodiarts who uses its hair to create copies of the Chameleon, Altar and Dragon Zodiarts in order to frame their original Switchers and prevent them from graduating. Its patron constellation is Coma Berenices, the hair of Queen Berenice II of Egypt.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Seems to be a reasonable reporter...then she intentionally frames Tamae, Kimio and Ritsuko of wrongs they never committed — all because she doesn't want to graduate and neither will she let the others do so.
  • Club President: Of the Newspaper Club.
  • Foreshadowing: What's she doing in her first appearance? Trying to get an article out of Tamae, Ritsuko and Jin, even though it's only Ritsuko's alter-ego who "returned" around that time.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: She seems nice initially but she refuses to stop and ask if anyone else shares her desire to stay at AGHS forever, instead choosing to go through with her plan to force them to.
  • Growing Up Sucks: Her motivation for becoming a Zodiarts and framing Ritsuko, Kimio and Tamae? She doesn't want to leave high school, and feels that neither should everybody else.
  • Hypocrite: Becomes a monster because she loves AGHS and doesn't want to graduate. Yet she furiously claims Tamae, Jin, and Ritsuko don't deserve to leave after their actions as Zodiarts, apparently seeing AGHS as a punishment as well. Of course, she could also be justifying it as them being undeserving of a chance to leave the school and by proxy her.
  • Informed Ability: JK claims that she makes for a better Knowledge Broker than him. At the very least, she was able to figure the identities of former monsters.
  • Mirror Character: To Miu. Both are seniors, presidents of their respective clubs, and dread graduating. However, this is where similarities end: whereas Miu learns to accept the fact but Yayoi refuses to accept it.
  • Mook Maker: Can turn its hair into copies of existing Zodiarts.
  • Prehensile Hair: One may ask how Coma of all constellations would have any combat application as a Zodiarts. The answer is this.
  • Sanity Slippage: Perhaps one of the most extreme cases of all the Zodiarts.
  • Squishy Wizard: She can create clones from her hair and use it to entrap opponents, but once she's rendered immobile by the Power Dizer, she's pretty much good as done.
  • Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl: Provides the inspiration for this Zodiarts. Not just for the stringy hair and deliberately creepy Limp and Livid portrayal, but Yayoi also harbors a grudge.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: We don't know if she even graduates or gets held back like she wanted to.
    Haru Kusao/Musca Zodiarts

Haru Kusao/Musca Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Jigen Araki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/haru_kusao.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/musca_zodiarts_1.png
A freshman who was given his Switch by Libra in an attempt to be more outgoing. His patron constellation is Musca, the Fly.
  • Berserk Button: Due to the Switch, he lashes out at Ran on her insistence on always trying to protect him or whenever she tries to say he doesn't have to get stronger because she'll protect him.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: It's a monster based on a fly. A really big fly.
  • Detachment Combat: Can separate into a swarm of flies to annoy Fourze.
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: Has serious bags under his eyes as he uses the Switch more and more.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: A rare villainous example. Not only is he a first time Switcher still getting used to his new form, his Switch is evolving, continually dumping new powers on him.
  • I Just Want to Be Badass: Wanted to be more outgoing to everyone.
  • Lethal Joke Character: Considering that he starts out as a wimp, and gets a simplistic Zodiarts design that's little more than a glorified Mook with a pathetic housefly Animal Motif, his sudden rush of powers really comes out of nowhere.
  • Only Friend: Ran is his only friend even though he actually wants to be friends with Gentaro. Ran is pretty much the sole reason that Haru even became a Zodiarts in the first place and ironically the reason that he gets worse.
  • Power Gives You Wings: Once he reaches Last One.
  • Protectorate: Deconstructed in that his desire to change is ousted by his overprotective friend, frustrating him.
  • Sanity Slippage: The most extreme non-Horoscopes example. His mental slide is so bad that beating him without doing something to rectify his state of mind before deactivating his switch would likely destroy his mind.
  • Shrinking Violet: Doesn't help that he has a pushy girl friend like Ran.
  • Sixth Ranger: During the finale, Haru finally becomes a member of the Kamen Rider Club with Ran.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Is noteworthy in that his Switch is evolving even before he hit Last One.

Other Characters

    Shun's Father
Shun's father, who controls every aspect of his life.
  • Irony: Took control of his son's life to the point that he made Shun bench Miura. This ends up leading to Shun regaining control of his life when Gentaro forces him to confront what he really feels of not making his own decisions.
  • Karma Houdini: Suffers no consequences for the creation of the Orion Zodiarts with the most he gets is his son telling him to shut up and then destroying the Daimonji dedication statue in retaliation.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Only appears in two episodes, but he told Shun to bench Miura, who would eventually become the Orion Zodiarts and subsequently lead to Gentaro becoming Kamen Rider Fourze and the creation of the Kamen Rider Club.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: He's at fault for Miura's problems. If he didn't force Shun to put Miura on the bench, he wouldn't have obtained the Zodiarts Switch to become Orion Zodiarts nor have his withdrawal in #12-13. At the same time, this would eventually lead to Shun telling him to shove off after Shun confesses that he hated pushing Miura to the side and feels like he has no freedom to make his own path in life.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Disappears after Shun calls him out in #8.

    Goro Kisaragi

Goro Kisaragi

Portrayed by: Nobuo Yana

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/goro_kisaragi.png
Gentaro's grandfather who owns "Kisaragi Motors", a motorcycle repair shop. He raised Gentaro after a traffic accident killed his parents during when he was only in third grade.
    Rokuro Utahoshi

Rokuro Utahoshi

Portrayed by: Toru Kazama

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rokuro_utahoshi.png
Kengo's father who spent his last days trapped in the Moon following the theft of the Astro Switches.
    Yuki's parents

Yuki's Parents

Portrayed by: Yu Kamio (Mr. Jojima), Mari Takahashi (Mrs. Jojima)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jojima_couple.png
Two of the extras within the series and is an eccentric duo.

    Jiro Inseki
Ryusei Sakuta's friend who ended up comatose when trying to use a faulty Zodiarts switch.

     The Presenters (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD)
A race of mysterious aliens who are responsible for the Core Switches sent all across the universe to help civilizations advance and evolve.
  • Greater-Scope Paragon: Were it not for the discovery of the Core Switch, the Fourze Driver and Astro Switches would never have been developed. Having said that, however...
  • Greater-Scope Villain: It was also because of the Core Switch that Gamou turned villainous in the first place and began using AGHS students as lab rats for his Zodiarts Switches.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Only mentioned in the last leg of the show, but they're the reason behind all of Fourze happening.
  • The Unseen: For as much importance they’re given. They never, and we mean NEVER appear on screen.

Characters from Movie Wars Mega Max

    Nadeshiko Misaki/Kamen Rider Nadeshiko

Nadeshiko Misaki/Kamen Rider Nadeshiko

Portrayed by: Erina Mano (live), Hitomi Sanae (suit)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nadeshiko_misaki.png
A mysterious female transfer student who literally falls from the sky and into Gentaro's arms. For some unknown reason, she possesses a blue version of the Fourze Driver and can transform into Kamen Rider Nadeshiko.

Her true identity is SOLU, a mysterious extraterrestrial substance. Finding itself intrigued by Gentaro, SOLU imitated the form of an unrelated female student in order to get close to him, copying the Fourze Driver as well. She is later kidnapped by Foundation X and turned into the SOLU Switch, which is used alongside the Poseidon Medals to transform Rem Kannagi into Super Galaxy King.

Tropes that apply to her in general

  • Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: After being transformed into the SOLU switch by Kannagi, she becomes a being of pure energy and departs back into outer space. She comes back in Movie War Ultimatum to help fight the Akumaizers.
  • Badass Adorable: Kicks the asses of all those Dustards, but looks so damn cute doing so.
  • Batman Can Breathe in Space: When Gentaro shows her the moon, the two try to kiss. Then she gets the idea to remove her helmet, and that's when Gentaro gets the idea that something's wrong.
  • Big Damn Heroes: In Movie War Ultimatum, she returns to Earth just in time to rescue Yuki from an exploding spaceship.
  • The Cutie: Is she ever. Even the way she says "Uchu Kita!!!" radiates of cuteness!
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Her power to emulate Fourze's own powers could probably count for hinting Fourze Rocket States.
    • Also, her being created from space could also foreshadow Kengo himself, seeing as he was born from the Core Switch.
  • Fun with Acronyms: SOLU is short for, Seeds Of Life from the Universe. SOLU also kinda sounds like "soul".
  • Human Aliens: Subverted. She looks human, but her true form is basically a blob of silver material.
  • Identical Stranger: A justified case, as Nadeshiko copied a human girl. Understandably, when Gentaro meets said girl at the end, she doesn't recognize him.
  • Kick Chick
  • Kissing Discretion Shot: She gives a kiss to Gentaro at the end of the movie, but the camera was focused on them from the waist down, and only cuts to another scene a second later.
  • New Transfer Student: Subverted.
  • Proper Tights with a Skirt: Her school uniform has black tights to accompany her school uniform skirt.
  • Punny Name: According to Word of God, she is named after Nadeshiko Japan, the national women's football team which had recently won the FIFA Women's World Cup at the time of the movie's release. However, the team name does refer to the flower from which the Yamato Nadeshiko takes its name.
  • Satellite Love Interest: Justified, as there wouldn't be a lot personality in you if you were a substance from space who transformed into a human girl. She's got a lot more personality in Movie War Ultimatum, probably due to evolving even further.
  • Shout-Out Theme Naming: Shares a name with Yuriko Misaki, although written differently in kanji.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In Ultimatum. While she wasn't a push over before, she handles herself in combat very well this time, even untransformed.
  • Verbal Tic: Repeats the last words that someone says until Gentaro admits his feelings for her. Dropped completely in Ultimatum.

Tropes exclusive to her as Kamen Rider Nadeshiko

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kamen_rider_nadeshiko.png
  • Ass Kicks You: One of the attacks on the Dustards. Also uses it a lot in Ultimatum
  • Combination Attack: Can do the Double Rider Rocket Punch with Gentaro/Fourze.
  • Finishing Move:
    • Nadeshiko Kick
    • Nadeshiko Rocket Kick
    • Nadeshiko Rocket Punch
  • Killer Rabbit: In spite of her cutesy demeanor, she uses an almost disturbingly brutal fighting style, kicking people through walls, repeatedly punching them in the gut, and at one point she breaks a Dustard's neck. The Director's Cut even shows her pulling elbow and knee strikes that are not something you want your kids learning.
  • Male Gaze: Her first fight as a Kamen Rider has Gentaro definitely getting a good view at her. Judging by the fact he wasn't even looking at the Dustards he was fighting at the time and copying her every costume stretching kick.
    Legendary Seven Riders

Legendary Seven Riders

The first seven Kamen Riders: Rider 1, Rider 2, V3, Riderman, X, Amazon and Stronger. They appear in Movie Wars Megamax to fight against Foundation X and to stop Rem Kannagi's plans.

  • Back-to-Back Badasses: The Riders are paired together when dealing with Foundation X's forces all over the world: Riders 1 and 2, V3 and Riderman, and X and Amazon. Stronger...do you think he really even needed one?
  • Cool Old Guys: Each of them have to be older than fifty by now, but they're still just as capable of kicking ass as they were back in the day.
    • Justified since the majority of them (minus Riderman) are reconstructed humans (cyborgs), and Amazon is powered from his magic armlets.
  • The Magnificent Seven Samurai
  • Sealed Good in a Can: All seven are trapped inside Core Medals and Astro Switches by Kannagi.
    Lem Kannagi

Lem Kannagi

Portrayed by: Toru Masuoka

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lem_kannagi.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chougingaioh.png
A member of Foundation X, who seeks to possess the Core Medals from the future and the power of the mysterious SOLU. Eventually, he ends up becoming Super Galaxy King. He is involved in the creation of super lifeforms known as "Mutamids."
  • BFS: His coat turns into one.
  • Big Bad: Of the entire Movie War. Even though Poseidon wasn't related to him at all, he still benefited from his existence.
  • Dragon-in-Chief: Kannagi is a much more prominent threat in Movie War Megamax than his his nominal superior and proves more dangerous than her when he betrays the organization to Take Over the World on his own.
  • Evil Counterpart: Although Super Galaxy King is classed as a kaijin, Kannagi uses a Driver like a Kamen Rider for his transformation.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Wears glasses and is a remorseless scientist.
  • The Glasses Come Off: He does this when revealing his treachery.
  • A God Am I: What would you expect from a guy who calls himself "Super Galaxy King?"
  • The Heavy: The main Foundation X operative helming the hunt for SOLU in Movie War Megamax.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: At the end of the movie, Nadeshiko helps Gentaro absorb his Cosmic Energy, which never would have happened if he hadn't absorbed her to create the Galaxy King Driver.
  • Jet Pack: Has one as the Super Galaxy King, similar to Fourze.
  • Karmic Death: While he was probably mortally wounded by Fourze and OOO's Finishing Move, he's finished off when his own ship runs him down.
  • Kick the Dog: His "murder" of Nadeshiko, turning her into an Astro Switch and using her as a part of his plans. He then proceeds to tell Gentaro that Nadeshiko wasn't just sealed in the Astro Switch but is pretty much dead.
  • Large and in Charge: He has a noticeably taller and stockier frame than his subordinates.
  • Mad Scientist: He's a researcher for Foundation X with megalomaniacal ambitions.
  • One-Winged Angel: Transforms into Super Galaxy King in the climax of the film.
  • Rasputinian Death: As if taking two Super Mode Rider Kicks wasn't enough, he's knocked in front of a space shuttle and run over by it...then it explodes!
  • Shout-Out: His "Super Galaxy King" is one to the villain of the Kamen Rider: Skyrider movie. Which is odd, considering Skyrider isn't involved in this movie at all...
    • His defeat involving Fourze absorbing his Wave-Motion Gun thanks to an ally feeding it too him, which then goes downhill? It's not a far stretch from what happened in a certain anime the writer was previously involved with.
  • The Starscream: To Foundation X. Once he gets what he needs, he wastes no time in betraying the organization for his own purposes.
  • This Cannot Be!: His reaction to his defeat.
  • Time Stands Still: He can do this using Poseidon's time-displaced Core Medals. It is ineffective against OOO Super TaToBa since those medals are from the future as well.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: His ultimate attack. Unfortunately for him, Nadeshiko allows Gentaro to absorb it and use it to destroy him along side OOO.
    Katal

Katal/Suddendath

Portrayed by: Dante Carver

A human turned into a Mutamit by Lem Kannagi and one of his top two henchmen.
    Solaris

Solaris/Unicorn Zodiarts

Portrayed by: Sanae Hitomi

Another human turned Mutamit and the other of Lem Kannagi's top two henchmen.
  • Cats Are Mean: She seems to be a cat-themed Mutamit based on some of the abilities she displays.
  • Co-Dragons: Alongside Katal, she's one of Kannagi's two main enforcers.
  • He Who Must Not Be Seen: Unlike Katal, we never get to see what her Mutamit form fully looks like.
  • Legacy Character: Uses a Zodiarts Switch to transform into a second Unicorn Zodiarts.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Unlike Katal, who very clearly gets destroyed, Solaris disappears after being defeated and knocked out of her transformation.
    Kiima

Controller Kiima

Portrayed by: Azusa Watanabe

A Foundation X operative overseeing the hunt for the SOLU.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: She's Kannagi's superior, but is outclassed by him in terms of threat level and killed by him so he can go forward with his own plans.
  • Satellite Character: Her role amounts to giving Kannagi his orders and being killed by him in the climax.

Characters from Everyone Into Space

    Inga Blink

Inga Blink

Portrayed by: Mikie Hara

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/inga_blink.png
A mysterious but formidable woman who fights both Foundation X and the Kamen Rider Club in pursuit of her own goals. She's actually the enemy of the Space Ironmen, who have deceived the KRC into restoring them to full power.
  • The Bus Came Back: for Movie Wars Ultimatum.
  • Dark Action Girl: She's tough as hell and can fight hand-to-hand on equal terms with Tatsugami and Ryusei. Not surprising for the latter, considering they trained at the same martial arts school.
  • Fanservice: Her default outfit is tight black leather and a low-cut tank top. Made even more obvious in Movie Wars Ultimatum when she gets all sweaty in a fight and the viewers are treated to a slow-motion shot of her brushing her hair away from her cleavage.
  • Hero Antagonist: Attacks the KRC because the latter are Unwitting Pawns to the Space Ironmen.
  • Poor Communication Kills: If she'd just bothered to explain the situation, she'd have saved everyone a lot of trouble.
  • Ship Tease: With Ryusei in her first appearance, although it ultimately goes nowhere.
    Space Ironmen

Groundain and Skydain

Portrayed by: Kohki Okada (Groundain), Ayumi Kinoshita (Skydain)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/human_kyodain.jpg
Harumi Saeba and Shizuka Shirayama
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/uchuu_kyodain.png
Groundain and Skydain
The Space Ironmen, a duo of immensely powerful robots constructed by Professor Blink, Inga's father. They turned against their creator and began a campaign to destroy humanity.
    Black Knight

Black Knight

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fzblackknight.png
The third of Professor Blink's robots. While his "siblings" rebelled against humanity, Black Knight alone remained loyal, and now works with Inga to stop them.
    XVII

XVII

Voiced by: Tsutomu Isobe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/xvii_satellite.png
A massive satellite that serves as the Space Ironmen's ultimate weapon. Secretly harbors the mind of Professor Blink, who uploaded himself into the station after the Space Ironmen turned against him, using it to seal way most of his rebellious creations' power.
  • Beam Spam: It's absolutely covered in laser turrets on its exterior. They don't help all that much when the KRC attempts to board it.
  • Composite Character: In keeping with the old-school Ishinomori homages, XVII is based on Space Ironmen Kyodein's Gombess, the eponymous Daitetsujin 17, hence the name, and (possibly) the Big Bad of the latter series.
  • Faceless Eye: "Brain", its central control station, includes something that looks like a tree with every branch ending in a robotic eye. One of those eyes is later used to communicate with Gentaro, explaining the station's situation to him.
  • Heel–Face Turn: As it turns out, he never willingly worked for the Space Ironmen.
  • Power Limiter: For the Space Ironmen. Sending the KRC after XVII was an attempt to destroy their limiters and return them to full power.
  • Transforming Mecha: Capable of shifting between satellite mode and giant robot mode on command.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: XVII is a satellite weapon packing a laser powerful enough to level all of Japan in one strike.
