Main Team
Lei Lan
Full Name: Lei Lan Rios
The usually upbeat and bubbly main character of the series. A freshman who dreams of becoming the strongest mage in all the universe despite the obstacles in front of him since birth.
- Always Someone Better: Lei sees his siblings, Yutika and Kun, as being this to him. Then there's Ayawamat.
- Blow You Away: One of Lei's two known elements is wind. He literally uses his wind powers to send people flying as shown during his battle against Iah.
- Famous Ancestor: Descent of Darkness. In Chapter 9, Lei reveals that he's the great-grandson of the previous Magus Maximus, Ventus Rios. By extension this also makes him the great-great nephew of the fifth Magus Maximus, Aqua Rios.
Iah no Mikoto
Full Name: Iah no Mikoto Wudi
The flirty crown prince of Mina and Strongest of the Sea Tournament participants. He seems to have some history with Adela.
- Always Someone Better: Loses against Arima in the last part of Chapter 71.
- Famous Ancestor: More like Famous Parents. His mom is the former queen of Mina. Meanwhile his dad is hinted throughout Novus Magus to be someone powerful but mysterious. Chapter 12 of Descent of Darkness finally reveals who his dad is. His dad is non other than Tsukumu no Mikoto, the Moon god and triplet brother of the first Magus Maximus.
- Then there are the hints that he's the descendant of Yin and Xinyi as well as Tai from Tales of Xeleria's Past.
Nyima Taiyang
Full Name: Nyima Yahto Taiyang (yeah, she uses her mother's last name for some undisclosed reason).
- Making a Splash: She is a strong water mage with dangerous magic which includes a spell that allows her to dehydrate her opponent, at the cost of a tremendous amount of prana.
Adela Xian
Full Name: Adela Mu Xian (Uses mother'a last name too but this is explained in story, unlike with Nyima)The High Priestess of Xian, she appears to have met both Lei and Iah years prior to the start of the story. She can see the future in flames, much to her dismay.
- Childhood Friends: With Lei, though she initially wasn't very found of him when they met. Iah might also qualify as they go way back.
