Main Characters

    Tama
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tama02.jpg
The male main character.
An knight who died in battle and was reincarnated into an infant Behemoth.
  • Action Pet: There is a strong argument to be made that he is more badass than his owner. Especially once she outfits him with custom-made cat armor.
  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: On both ends. Aria and Vulcan frequently pet him on the head, and when he can, he rubs his body against or licks Aria in the face, which she greatly enjoys.
  • Animal Companion: How the world at large sees him. As long as he gets to stay close to Aria, this serves him just fine.
  • Bathtub Bonding: Invoked. Aria orders him to bathe with her.
  • Bedmate Reveal: The first time he wakes up in Aria's home, he's in her bed and she's cuddling him in her cleavage.
  • Big Eater: He regularly eats meals sized for humans, and on top of that has multiple monster corpses stored away in case he needs a snack.
  • Breath Weapon: Elemental Howling.
  • Cannibalism Super Power: Like all other monsters to date, he gains new abilities by eating other monsters, which he discovers when he eats a slime.
  • Can't Have Sex, Ever: At least until the events of Chapter 7. Even then, his "Behemoth" body's too young...
  • Cat Stereotype: A ginger tabby who is typically heroic and has gotten into more than his share of fights.
  • The Champion: He became a knight because protecting people gave him a purpose in life. When Aria shows up, he's pretty relieved to have someone to care about.
  • Chick Magnet: He has a growing number of women, all of them humanoid, who are very interested in him, mostly in a sexual way but some of them romantically. The fact he's still physically a kitten doesn't deter said women in the slightest, but it does mean he's quite against even potentially doing the deed until he gets physically older.
  • Combat Tentacles: Ever since he ate a Roper, he gained the ability to summon and manipulate tentacles. It comes in handy very much during combat, since it allows him to restrain enemies to make it easier for his allies to kill them. He's quite concerned about the fact that, after the first time he showed them off, Aria has shown heavy interest in the Power Perversion Potential of such an ability.
  • Cover Blowing Super Power: Any of his strongest abilities would reveal him as a "monster" and could get him killed. Fortunately there's another "cat" species that has magical powers.
  • Covert Pervert: By virtue of being unable to speak, his perversions go unsaid, but he loves to ogle his "master" Aria when she changes and is fixated on her chest.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: He is very, very protective and possessive of Aria. Get too close to her, and he will lash out and attack you, damn the consequences... unless Aria restrains him.
  • Cuteness Proximity: He's such an adorable little kitty that anybody who doesn't already hold any malice towards him usually ends up falling for his fluffy charms.
  • Elemental Powers: His first natural ability is the "Elemental Howl" skill, which grants him Breath Weapons in fire, water, earth, and air variants. He also is capable of utilizing the elements in general, which he quite frequently puts to use by shooting hails of icicle lances at any male who comes onto his lady. The fact his natural-born abilities are elemental in nature rather helpfully aids in his Mistaken Identity as an elemental cat.
  • Hammerspace: Invoked. He gains a "Harvesting" skill that allows him to store things in an alternate dimension.
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: He hates people eyeing Aria with perverted intentions, but when he does it... It's okay. To his credit Aria wants him to look at her with perverted intentions.
  • I Owe You My Life: To Aria, twice in a row. She saved his life when he was mortally wounded, and spared him after he revealed he was a monster.
  • Killer Rabbit: He looks and acts like a housecat most of the time, but he's a veteran knight that was reincarnated into a Behemoth.
  • Lady and Knight: Which is lampshaded frequently, especially by himself. He's the knight to Aria's lady.
  • Loyal Animal Companion: Aria tried to leave him in her room while she went dungeon-delving, but he would have none of that.
  • Love at First Sight: The first time he sees Aria's face, he mistakes her for an angel from Heaven. He's been smitten with her ever since.
  • Marshmallow Hell: Constantly subjected to this. Both Aria and Vulcan love to carry him around on their bosom, and he loves being carried that way.
  • The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body: Like any ordinary cat, he grooms himself with his tongue.
  • Mistaken Identity: Two of them. He is mistaken as an Elemental Cat, not a behemoth, and his Behemoth, Evolution level 3 is mistaken as a divine beast, allowing him to use it openly when the situation is extremely dire.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: He views Aria's word as law, no ifs, ands, or buts.
  • No Guy Wants to Be Chased: Tama does not like it when any woman, not even Aria, gets too sexually aggressive. Particularly forceful women like Stella or an even more horny than usual Aria outright terrify him.
  • Not Afraid to Die: Both when he's mortally wounded in chapter 1, and when he rescues Aria in chapter 3, he's completely resigned to having her kill him as a "monster." He's shocked when she literally picks him up and cares for him both times.
  • No Name Given: His name when he was a human knight is never revealed.
  • Only Sane Man: He frequently ends up acting as the only person in his group with a proper head on his shoulders, often being exasperated by the craziness everybody else gets up to. Unfortunately, since he's The Speechless, the best he can do under normal circumstances is act as a First-Person Smartass.
  • Property of Love: He is very content to be Aria's official "pet" and acknowledges her as "Master."
  • The Speechless: Under normal circumstances he has no capacity for actual speech, with the only sounds coming out of his mouth being "NYAN" or some other form of meowing. The only time he's capable of actually speaking is when he uses his Level 2 Behemoth evolution, and even than it's only temporary and for a short time, so he still can't talk for long before returning to speechlessness.
  • Subordinate Excuse: How he rationalizes happily joining Aria in the bath, or ogling her in her bedroom as she changes. He has to be nearby to guard her if something happens, after all. In his defense, this is precisely the way Aria wants it.
  • Super Mode: Behemoth, Evolution level 2... And then Evolution level 3.
  • Taking the Bullet: He shields Aria from sword blows during their duel with Kassman repeatedly.
  • Undying Loyalty: He is completely devoted Aria, for life.
  • Your Size May Vary: Illustrations of him can't decide how big he's supposed to be. In some instances, he fits nicely in Aria's palm. In others, he's depicted as a full-grown house-cat.

    Aria
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aria_2.jpg
Yes, he is.
An adventurer who picked up Tama and adopted him.
  • Achievements in Ignorance: She's still not aware of it, but she has won the unwavering loyalty of a "Behemoth," the most powerful and vicious of monsters on the planet... because she mistook it for a lost and hurt alleycat, brought it home and treated it very, very kindly.
  • Androcles' Lion: She picks up and tends the wounds of a mortally wounded "cat." This creature follows her into the dungeon and saves her from a Goblin fireball.
  • Bestiality Is Depraved: Played with. While she is rightly disgusted by the idea of dungeon monsters wanting to lewd her, the fact that she's sexually attracted to Tama, whom she can pass off as an Elemental Cat, a species known to "attack" their owners during mating season, is so adorable, the general population is actually envious.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Very sweet and caring, but piss her off, and there might not be enough left of you to bury.
  • Cerebus Retcon: Combined with Adaptation Expansion and Troubled Backstory Flashback. The manga goes into greater depth as to why she's so attracted to Tama and sour on the male gender. As a child, she suffered a near-rape experience and was rescued by the elven saint's Elemental Cat. She flashbacks to this memory while she's recovering from Beryl's poison.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: A zigzagged example. When it comes to other women putting Tama on top of and into their breast cleavage, she's actually quite supportive, as she finds the sight utterly adorable. But this is very much in place when it comes to women besides herself trying to court and come onto him, as she refuses to let anybody except herself be Tama's "first".
  • Does Not Like Men: She is sour on the entire male gender, with the exception of Tama.
  • Doomed Hometown: She comes from a Doomed Home Country. She's the Sole Survivor of her home nation, and then only because she was rescued from a "Demon" army by a female elf known as "Legendary Fencer." (Or Sword Saint)
  • Fantastic Arousal: While she's normally quite horny where Tama's concerned, when he simply licks her ears (like cats are wont to do), she goes full-tilt sex-crazy.
  • Flash Step: Her special ability, "Acceleration".
  • Fragile Speedster: Her fighting style involves accelerating to high speeds and then hitting hard, but her movements are very easy to read, and when countered, she goes down hard.
  • Friend to All Children: In chapter 9, she comes across a couple of thugs beating up a panhandling orphan. Not only does she go out of her way to rescue the child, but she gives the child a healing potion and then pays for the child to attend a convent, where the child can grow up safe and happy... To her chagrin because she wanted to raise the child herself, but couldn't.
  • Groin Attack: She gives Kassman one as a coup de grace.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Described as a platinum blonde, and a very sweet, sensitive woman.
  • Hero-Worshipper: She was rescued from genocide by "Legendary Fencer" and worships her to the point she wants to become just like her savior, and stand by her side.
  • Holy Hand Grenade: In the Gladdstone incident, she awakens the [Sacred Blade] skill that allows her to attack with holy elemental damage attached to her weapon(s).
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: Combined with Icy Blue Eyes. Tama describes her eyes as blue as ice, but she's a sweet and innocent woman.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: At first. The first time she changed in front of Tama, she thought he was a simple alley-cat. Once she's informed that Tama is from a species of cat that might be sexually attracted to her, she goes full-tilt Shameless Fanservice Girl to try and flaunt her assets in front of him.
  • Kind Hearted Cat Lover: She put a quest on hold to rescue Tama, who she thought was just a stray cat.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: She's utterly obsessed with Tama sexually, always trying to find excuses to come onto him, with it bordering on Black Comedy Rape at times. All the same, she's a genuinely good and kind woman who loves Tama romantically as well.
  • Lust Object: To the entire male population of Maze City, and she knows it. She does not like it.
  • Pervert Revenge Mode: She tolerates people leering at her because she's an upstanding citizen, but if she's able, she will respond with violence to anyone, or anything, that tries to lewd her, with the exception of Tama, whom she explicitly wants to lewd her, and who she would lewd if she could.
  • Razor Wind: Which she learns in Chapter 7, as a direct result of a Roper monster trying to lewd her, and she went Pervert Revenge Mode.
  • Rescue Romance: Because Tama came to her defense against a goblin mage in the labyrinth, she's completely smitten with him. She is very grateful that he's devoted his body and soul to her and would love to give him her virginity, if she could.
  • So Beautiful, It's a Curse: She can't go to public places alone because she'll be mobbed by perverts trying to flirt with her. Or assholes like Kassman will scare her friends away so they can pressure her into sex.
“Ah, what can I do? I guess I’ll wait here on the bench again… Heh-heh, but starting today, Tama is with me, so I don’t need to be sad, right?”
  • Single-Target Sexuality: She is entirely Tama-sexual. Anyone or anything else who tries to hit on her is likely to be met with violence the moment she thinks she can get away with it.
  • Victoria's Secret Compartment: To the point that she can hold a living cat in her cleavage.

    Vulcan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vulcan_8.jpg
Aria's friend and favorite blacksmith
An adventurer and blacksmith. She joins Aria and the two form party.
  • Cat Girl: Being a female tiger-kin, she has several cat traits.
  • Covert Pervert: She also very, very much is romantically attracted to Tama, but she keeps that bit of knowledge away from Aria, so she can continue to enjoy having him nestle in her cleavage.
  • Freaky Is Cool: When Stella shape-shifts for the first time, she grabs and happily rubs up against the draconian tail affectionately.
  • Hero of Another Story: Vulcan was a member of the hero party that took down the Demon King and his generals. The other members were The Elf Sword Saint that Aria admiers, the crown prince, a Hero from another world, and one of the demon generals who married said hero to side with humanity, as the second wife, the sword saint being the first.
  • Intrepid Merchant: When she can't purchase needed materials to make her armors and weapons, she goes dungeon crawling to get them.
  • Little Bit Beastly: As a tiger-kin, she has tiger ears and a tail.
  • Meaningful Name: Fittingly for a borderline Ultimate Blacksmith who wields a giant hammer, she's named after Vulcanus, the Roman god that is an Ultimate Blacksmith who wields a giant hammer.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome:
    • In chapter 7, she forms a party with Aria and Tama because her original party was disbanded due to her primary dungeon diving partner getting pregnant and going on maternity leave.
    • Due to the fact she has a shop to run, any quests that involve being gone for more than a day, such as the Escort Mission from Chapter 26, are something she has to sit out on.
  • Ultimate Blacksmith: She's so good as a blacksmith, that she makes fully functional armor for Tama, and imbues it with magic so he never outgrows it.
  • Vapor Wear: Her sole piece of upper-body clothing is a blacksmithing apron. A simple glance from the side makes it plain that she has absolutely nothing else on underneath it.
  • Verbal Tic: Being a Cat Girl, she ends her sentences with "Nyaa." She and Tama make a game of it near the end of chapter 6.

    Earth Dragon/Stella

Be afraid, be very afraid.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stella_5.jpg
Mightiest one! Give me your child!

The monster that almost killed Tama in chapter 1. Following a rematch that results in her death and reincarnation, she ends up joining Tama's adventuring party.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Tama is already rather turned off by aggressive flirting and courting, and even at his happiest and most agreeable he gets troubled seeing Aria pervily coming onto him. But Stella is so outright blatant about her desire to mate with him, with her not comprehending even the thought of allowing him to consent, that she genuinely terrifies him even worse than she did when she tried to kill him.
  • Adaptational Modesty: In the original light novel, Tama encounters her humanoid form buck naked. In the manga, she's wearing something that barely passes for a dress.
  • Amnesiac Hero: What Aria and Vulcan think of her. Only she and Tama know the truth, but they're not telling.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Despite wielding a shield and functioning well as a tank, her usual fighting strategy is the same as when she was a dragon: rushing into a fight weapons-swinging, continuing to chase after and beat up her enemy until they're dead, even if that results in her abandoning her teammates to deal with other enemies without their tank. Tama and Co. are trying to teach her how to properly be in a party so she doesn't become a Leeroy Jenkins, but her natural Blood Knight mentality is causing some snags in that effort.
  • Best Her to Bed Her: After Tama defeated her, she has become utterly obsessed with him impregnating her.
  • Big Eater: After getting a human body, any time she's not fighting or courting Tama is spent eating mountains worth of food. While part of this because she still has her massive appetite as a former large dragon, there's also the fact that the only food available in the dungeon was humans and other monsters, so she's gorging herself on the massive variety of genuinely delicious properly cooked food.
  • Blood Knight: As explained in her side-chapter, she lives for the thrill of hunting foes capable of putting up a good fight; the reason he sleeps on the lowest floor of the dungeon is sheer boredom. This trait carries over to her reincarnation.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: She became allies with Tama and his allies because he defeated her in battle. It also resulted in her wanting to have Tama's babies.
  • Disk-One Final Boss: Found on the lowest level of the dungeon.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Disturb her sleep in any way? Even from accidentally walking on her? Your life is forfeit!
  • Do You Want to Copulate?: Following her defeat and reincarnation into a form that would allow her to potentially breed with Tama, she wastes no time the moment she sees Tama again trying to catch him while loudly exclaiming her desire to have his children. Even after joining his party, she still makes occasional attempts to court him in an incredibly frank manner.
  • The Dreaded: Even full-grown behemoths are wary of her.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: Due to her Might Makes Right mindset, she's terrified of Aria due to the fact that Aria treats Tama, the guy who killed her via No-Holds-Barred Beatdown, like a cub, and Tama lets her.
  • Eye Scream: Tama manages to blind her in one eye, in return for her nearly disemboweling him. Being reincarnated fixes the ruined eye.
  • Fantastic Arousal: While Aria and Vulcan are playing around with her dragonized features, it turns out that having her tail stroked is very stimulating for her.
  • Female Monster Surprise: Due to how dragons don't have any Secondary Sexual Characteristics, Tama had been under the impression that she was most likely a guy. After her death and rebirth as a voluptuous human woman, and her following reunion with him, he's somewhat shocked to learn the dragon that nearly killed him is not just female, but utterly obsessed with him sexually.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After reincarnating, she becomes a powerful ally for Tama, Aria, and Vulcan, officially joining their adventurer party.
  • Hero Killer: Almost. Tama managed to escape by the skin of his teeth, and even then would have died if Aria didn't find him and tend his wounds.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: She finds the idea of fighting side by side with Aria, Vulcan, and Tama fun, and greatly enjoys their company.
  • Jagged Mouth: Alongside her Scary Teeth, another holdover of her dragon form is that her lips have a very jagged shape to them, which is quite prominent in certain shots, especially when her mouth is closed.
  • Lizard Folk: Her reincarnated form is officially recognized as a "Dragonewt" by the residents of Maze City.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: She may have chosen a stripperific adventuring outfit, but after her defeat to Tama's Super Mode, she chooses to wield a shield as tall as she is, and she's strong enough that she can carry it one-handed.
  • Mutual Kill: Subverted. This was clearly her intention when she and Tama fought the second time, and she realized escape was impossible, but Tama survived.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Had she not mortally wounded Tama, he and Aria would likely have never met and become a couple. What's more, fighting Tama in the first place opened a Dungeon Bypass that allowed Tama to find his way out of the dungeon.
  • Oh, Crap!: When she's facing Tama in a "rematch" and Tama reveals his Super Mode.
  • One-Handed Zweihänder: To go with carrying a tower-shield one handed, she carries and wields a claymore with the other hand. By this point, Vulcan is no longer surprised.
  • Reincarnation: After the Earth Dragon is defeated, Tama comes across a very attractive, very naked, woman screaming "I've found you, powerful one! Give me your children!" and continuously pursues him, to his chagrin. A few chapters later, she openly admits to Tama that she is, in fact, the Earth Dragon he killed to get the antidote for Aria.
  • Scary Teeth: As a holdover from her original dragon form, she has a mouth full of sharp and pointy teeth. While they show in full when she's expressing a serious attitude, most of the time they're presented in a Cute Little Fangs way, usually by only having two to four prominent canine teeth peeking out of her lips.
  • Shield Bash: While she picked a shield for defending against attack, the shield she chose is so massive and her strength so great, she's easily capable of using it to her knock enemies into walls or squash them into a bloody paste as if it was a hammer.
  • Stalker with a Test Tube: Come what may, she will not give up on her self-appointed mission to have Tama impregnate her.
  • Stripperific: Justified. Her "human" form can't wear too much in terms of clothes because she undergoes a partial draconic transformation when going into battle, and those clothes would shred like paper in the process.
  • Telepathy: Can communicate directly to Tama's mind, giving Tama the first person he's actually capable of directly communicating with, due to him being The Speechless normally.
  • Trauma Button: Due to the way Tamma defeated her, she has a lasting trauma regarding monsters with abilities she does not understand. She tends to be paralyzed in fear when this happens.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: No finesse or technique, but she doesn't need it. The first time she goes up against a dungeon monster, she literally swats it like a fly with her sword, squashing the unfortunate goblin flat with the flat of the blade...
  • Villain Respect: Goes from calling Tama "weak one" to "little one" to "powerful one" when Tama returns and starts giving her a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown.

     Lily and Faerie
A pair of fairies Aria and crew find in a labyrinth near Gladdstone. After the Gladdstone incident, the two join the party permanently.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": Faerie is a fairy, though she's more specifically a dryad fairy.
  • Fairy Sexy: Both of them are fairies with decently curvy bodies who show off immense amounts of skin. Lily in particular actually performs a sexy pose during a full-body close-up at the end of Chapter 30, showing just how curvy and alluring she truly is.
  • Green Thumb: Faerie is a dryad, with her wielding plant-based magic.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: Both of them walk up to Tama's group wearing outfits that completely expose their bodies, but neither of them flaunt it, simply acting like it's normal for them. Especially Lily, whose outfit is just two floating rings that only really maintain her modesty at specific angles, with the slightest change in position potentially leaving everything bare, but she doesn't see anything wrong with that. Though the fact she takes up a sexy pose when explaining her fighting ability implies she at least knows she has an attractive body.
  • I Owe You My Life: In gratitude for being rescued from a necromancer that captured them and used them as batteries in the Gladdstone incident, they happily follow Aria's crew around, becoming permanent members of the party.
  • Magical Barefooter: Neither of them have any sort of footwear, and both of them are fairies who command a great deal of magical power. They also qualify as Earthy Barefoot Characters due to being nature spirits that reside in forests.
  • Phlebotinum Battery: During the Gladdstone incident, they were used as batteries by a necromancer with a grudge against the noble mayor of Gladdstone to summon an undead army, up to and including animating Stella's dragon skeleton.
  • Stripperific: Their outfits are things that barely qualify as "clothing", with Faerie wearing a Garden Garment that is little more than vines and strategically placed leaves, while Lily has two rings that circle around her chest and crotch which are just a simple angle away from exposing everything... something that's shown quite clearly when she demonstrates her magical powers by removing said rings to act as magic circles, with only her positioned legs and some slight Lens Flare Censor on her breast keeping things family-friendly.
  • Winged Humanoid: Lily the pixie has wings on her back.

Antagonists

    Kassman
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kassman.jpg
Introduced in chapter 3, he's obsessed with Aria and won't take "no" for an answer.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: He lusts after Aria, but his mannerisms, and skirt-chasing history make him utterly repulsive to her.
  • And Now You Must Marry Me: He forces Aria into a duel she's not likely to win, Tama's life on the line, to have her marry him, just because she's his latest Lust Object.
  • Anime Hair: Just look at the page image. The light novel notes that his hair is deliberately slicked back like that with some kind of gel...
  • Antimagic: Due to a family treasure, magical attacks are useless against him. Non-magic skills on the other hand...
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: He's the first born of a noble, and is highly abhorrent.
  • The Bully: He loves to throw his weight around.
  • Did Not See That Coming: He didn't realize that "Elemental Cats" can have non-magical inherent skills...
  • Disproportionate Retribution: He drew a sword in the adventurer's guild hall on Tama when Tama bit his hand and then scratched him, after he tried to grab Aria and drag her into a "party" with him. When the guild-master rebuffed him, he returned with an execution order on Tama.
  • Entitled to Have You: To Aria. He pointedly refuses to accept the fact that she's clearly not interested in him.
  • Groin Attack: On the receiving end from Aria, and he really, really had it coming. It was so vicious, he might not survive it. note
  • Hate Sink: From his introduction, his obsession with Aria made the fanbase wish for his death. The Groin Attack he receives in chapter 6 was considered too lenient... even if it turns out that he didn't survive.
  • Punched Across the Room: Tama blasts him with Aether Howling in chapter 6, slamming him into a wall.
  • Smug Snake: His entire on-screen appearance involves harassing Aria without her being able to retaliate due to his noble status, until he forces her into a duel with him in chapter 6, where he bullies Tama and Aria, trying to break her will. The moment the tables are turned, he's revealed to be a cowardly mess, and Aria makes him pay, harshly.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: On both ends. When a pet being held near its owner's bosom senses its owner is in distress, especially if this distress is due to somebody it doesn't recognize getting too close, it will attack the intruder. There are also laws in existence where people attacked by animals can call for the offending animal to be put down, and there are people petty enough to go after people's pets when they feel slighted by the pet's owner, for little to no reason.
  • Uncertain Doom: The duel terms, as listed by Ana, the guild master were victory is determined by one party surrendering or dying. He didn't surrender, though he was taken away on a stretcher...
  • Villains Want Mercy: After bullying Aria and Tama in a "duel" for the majority of chapter 6, when Tama manages to turn the tables, slamming him into a wall, and having all four of his limbs bent in awkward angles, he begs forgiveness. Aria does not comply.

     Beryl Astaroth
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/astaroth_4.jpg
Feed my monsters with your lives, humans, and be the stepping stone for my revenge!
The first Demon shown to the audience.
  • Barrier Warrior: His special ability allows him to create powerful multi-layered forcefields which he uses to separate the adventuring party, thinking this would make them easy pickings for his trolls. Too late, he realizes this line of thinking was wrong.
  • Bond Villain Stupidity: He could have escaped after his monsters were wiped out by the adventuring party, and set up shop elsewhere, completely unnoticed, since none of the adventurers had seen him, but instead chooses to go and confront them, in person. He winds up paying the price.
  • Doomed Home Town: His village was wiped out in the human/demon war, Ragnarok, and is now populated by humans.
  • Meaningful Name: Named Beryl, has green hair.
  • Revenge Myopia: Wants revenge against the humans inhabiting what was his home town, but conveniently ignores how his people not only annihilated entire countries, but began the practice of eating humans, and feeding humans, alive, to their "monster" livestock, which triggered the war in the first place, which is also a practice he and his people continue to the present day, and he still has the gall to be incensed that powerful human adventurers are sent to investigate.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When he realizes that the adventurers sent to investigate and eliminate the one who's kidnapping humans, himself, are way stronger than his estimates accounted for, he tries to flee, but it's too little, to late for him at this point.
  • Suicidal Overconfidence: He truly believed he'd reached the point in his so-called planning where he was unstoppable. He was dead wrong.
  • Taking You with Me: He tries, by poisoning Aria with a powerful and nearly incurable poison in his death throes. Unfortunately for him, Tama knew where to find the antidote...
  • This Cannot Be!: The moment he realizes an "Elemental Cat" is among the party of adventurers sent to deal with him, and said cat tears through his monster mooks like they're made of papier-mâché.

Others

    Ana
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ana2.jpg
Governor?
Real Name: Arnaldo Hwarzenegger. The guildmaster of the adventurer's guild in Maze City.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Walks around in nothing but a cod-piece, but is a very skilled guild leader and former adventurer.
  • The Dreaded: To trouble-makers in the guild. Punishing troublemakers without a shred of mercy is Ana's favorite "hobby."
  • Hypocritical Humor: Is aghast at Aria's unusual tastes, yet has very unusual tastes too...
  • Inconsistent Spelling: Arnaldo Hwarzenegger or Arnald Hozinegger?
  • Parody: Of a certain California governor...
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: As the guild-master, Ana makes sure the adventurers are given quests that match their abilities, and experience, and can be trusted by all, even Aria.
  • Retired Badass: Used to be a rank B adventurer, but retired from adventuring to run the guild.

Monsters

    In General
  • Always Chaotic Evil: They are invariably hostile to the people of Maze city. Peaceful co-existence or communication is impossible. Tama is the only exception, and then only because he's a reincarnated human male knight.

    Goblins
  • Child by Rape: Invoked. They are notorious for kidnapping and capturing women, of all humanoid races, to repeatedly rape and impregnate for the rest of their lives.
  • Quantity vs. Quality: They may not be very strong monsters, but they make up for it in terms of sheer numbers.
  • Starfish Language: All they say is "Gii" with various inflections, but it's a clearly complex language of some sort.
  • Starter Villain: The first antagonists faced by any adventurer.

    Orcs
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Upon spotting attractive women, they openly make the desire to lewd said women obvious, but they are physically repugnant.
  • Berserk Button: They may not be very intelligent, but they can understand human speech, and hearing somebody smugly call them "pigs" riles them up into immediately trying to kill the person that insulted them, even when they're a woman.
  • Dumb Muscle: Very strong, but very stupid.
  • Fat Bastard: Overweight and repugnant.
  • Little Bit Beastly: They have snouts and tusks like boars.

    Minotaur
  • It Can Think: Listed as the first of many monsters with actual sentience.
  • Our Minotaurs Are Different: As expected of Minotaur, they have heads and legs like bulls, with torsos and arms of men.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: The first species of monster that actually tries to run when finding itself on the losing end of battle. The rest just attack mindlessly.

    Roper
  • Combat Tentacles: As is indicated in their name, they use massive tentacles to bind and subdue their prey.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?:
    • Aria gets sprayed down by some white liquid from a roper's tentacles. She is clearly not thrilled at the experience.
    • It's even worse with Stella's first proper fight with them, as her look of sheer joy from slaughtering them, combined with all that white liquid splashing onto her, particularly having some globs of it dripping down from both her face and the crotch of her "pants", gives a very risque image.
  • Power Perversion Potential: They not only use their tentacles to subdue prey, but to lewd women, as Aria finds out.
