The five superheroes
As a whole

The five main superheroes and Kalo as they appear from Season 10 onwards. From left to right: Happy S., Sweet S., Smart S., Careless S., Cool S. and Kalo.
The five main heroes.- Badass Adorable: All five of them are absolutely adorable little robot kids…who can and will beat up Big M.'s monsters like nobody's business.
- Cute Machines: All five of them are absolutely adorable-looking, chibiesque robots.
- Demoted to Extra: In Happy Friends and the City of Mystery, all of the superheroes except for Cool S. are reduced to making brief appearances when they are summoned by the Skill Balls, inventions that Doctor H. created to help Cool S. out during his journey on Planet Earth. The four also rarely appear in Happy Heroes: Multiverse Rescue, in which Cool S. alone travels across numerous parallel universes to save Kalo.
- Kid Hero: One episode in the earlier seasons reveals them to be in 3rd grade, making them around eight years old, at least mentally. No longer the case as of Season 10, when they have become adolescents.
- Letter Motif: Their Chinese names all follow the theme of "__心超人" ("__xīn chāorén"), with the blank representing a different Chinese character that forms with "xīn" to make a word describing that particular superhero—Kāixīn Chāorén (Happy S.), Tiánxīn Chāorén (Sweet S.), Huāxīn Chāorén (Smart S., Chinese name "Flirtatious Superman"), Cūxīn Chāorén (Careless S.), and Xiǎoxīn Chāorén (Cool S., Chinese name "Careful S."). This name scheme is applied to the superheroes besides the ones that form the main team as well.
- Mental Picture Projector: All five of them have memory projectors built into them, allowing them to show their memories to others.
- Older Than They Look: Season 15 reveals that they have existed as androids for over 30 years (meaning that they are close to Kalo and Dr. H's chronological ages), but they spent the majority of those years as mechanical stones and therefore have no memories of what occurred before they arrived at Planet Xing.
- Reincarnation: In Season 17, it is revealed that their past lives were five human adolescents who sacrificed themselves to save their world. Their spiritual energy was infused with their respective mechanical stones, and they were hence reborn as androids, though they have no recollection of their previous lives.
- Ridiculously Human Robot: They eat human food, they are seen crying (and emoting in general), and they actually look like humans in contrast to the other robots on Planet Xing.
- Robot Kid: All five of them are clearly meant to be kids, what with the fact that they mostly have higher-pitched, childlike voices and are shown to be in 3rd grade in one episode prior to Season 10.
- Robot Superhero: They are all human-like robots who defend Planet Xing from Big M. and his monsters.
- Sibling Team: By technicality, they're all siblings since they were all formed from mechanical stones at the same time (with the exception of Careful S., who comes later). They work together to fight monsters.
- Something Person: The group is often referred to as the superheroes.
- Sudden Eye Color: In the pre-art shift seasons, all of the superheroes except Careful S. have plain black eyes with highlights inside. In Season 10, the black parts are given a more noticeable brown hue.
- Superheroes in Space: By their very nature as having been born on Planet Xing. They've taken their adventures to other planets too, such as Planet Guling.
Happy S. / 开心超人 (Happy Superman / Hero Kāi)

Happy S.'s cartoon design

Happy S.'s 2021 anthropomorphic design
"Happy S. is here!"
The frontman of the group. Happy S. is brave and impulsive, often being the first to act when there are monsters. Has the superpowers of flying as well as super-strength, and therefore the ability to perform the Happy Knight Punch and similar moves. His choice of weapon is a boomerang that's equipped to his helmet. He represents courage.- Battle Boomerang: The little wings on the sides of Happy S.'s helmet can come off and form a boomerang which he sometimes uses when fighting monsters.
- Brought Down to Normal: In one episode he loses his superpowers.
- Brought Down to Badass: He still defeats the villain though.
- Chest Insignia: A yellow heart.
- Decoy Protagonist: Is this in the film Rebel Rescue, where he seems to be the protagonist based on the first several movie posters but ends up contributing the least out of his team in the actual film.
- Does Not Know His Own Strength: This is particularly demonstrated in Season 6 episode 22, where he can't hold a dinosaur egg unless he learns how to hold other items - such as tofu and a tiny wooden table - without them crumbling within an instant.
- Fatal Flaw: His impulsiveness and—as implied in Season 12 and Rebel Rescue—willingness to guard his friends when they are in a possessed or corrupted state without thinking of a way to save them first. This ultimately results in Cool S. getting temporarily killed in Rebel Rescue, in which Happy S. accidentally throws Cool S. into the crossfire of the battle between Perfect Superman and a powered-up possessed Sweet S.
- Flying Brick: Has Super-Strength and the ability to fly.
- Hot-Blooded: Gives a lot of passion to things he does. Once he demolished a skyscraper just to save a kitten.
- Keet: He’s very energetic and sweet.
- Megaton Punch: Due to his super strength, Happy S.'s signature Happy S. Punch often sends his foes flying into the sky, if not higher.
- Mercury's Wings: Happy S. has yellow wings on the sides of his helmet that can come off and combine to become a Battle Boomerang.
- Power Fist: His signature attack is the Happy S. Punch.
- Primary-Color Champion: He has all three of the primary colors in his design - he's mostly red, but also has a yellow heart insignia and wings, and a blue gem on his forehead.
- Red/Green Contrast: Happy S.'s heroic shade of red contrasts with Big M.'s villainous green armor.
- Red Is Heroic: He is the leader of the heroes and is mostly red in color.
- Sweet Tooth: Loves chocolate and other sweet treats.
Sweet S. / 甜心超人 (Sweet Superwoman / Hero Tián)

Sweet S.'s cartoon design

Sweet S.'s 2021 anthropomorphic design
"Be safe!"
The only girl in the team, she is quite smart. Sweet S. can create pink bubbles of any size and resilience (although that will cost her energy) which could float and carry others, and in monster attacks act as shields or super-powered attacks. Starting in Season 9, she can manipulate a Bubble-Man from her bubbles. She also possess the superpower to heal, as seen in Season 11. She represents kindness.- Action Girl: Downplayed. Sweet S. is nowhere near as strong as the other Supermen, but she's still a hero who can and will help the other Supermen fight evil whenever it's needed.
- Barrier Warrior: She often uses her bubble attack to create a shield and block herself and others from incoming attacks.
- Bubble Gun: Sweet S. has the ability to shoot bubbles out of her hands, which have a bunch of uses from being a barrier to fend off attacks to a being mode of transportation.
- Bubble Shield: She can use her bubbles as barriers to shield the rest of the team from blows.
- Chest Insignia: A pink-red first aid cross, symbolizes her healing abilities and protective personality.
- The Colored Cross: She has a pink cross on her outfit to show she's the nurse of the team. Its pink color is more obvious in the Season 10 Art Shift, which lightened it.
- Damsel in Distress: Is basically this throughout the film Rebel Rescue, in which she spends its majority possessed by twin plant spirits Zǐluó (meaning "violet") and Zǐlán (meaning "purple orchid").
- Girliness Upgrade: Of a sort. The new art-style changes her suit into a dress.
- Girlish Pigtails: Has two small ones poking out the bottom of her helmet.
- Healing Hands: She's the primary healer of the team.
- The Heart: Sweet S. literally embodies kindness, and serves as the moral conscience and mediator of the team.
- Heart Is an Awesome Power: Her main superpower is to create bubbles... which are surprisingly effective as shields, a mode of transportation, etc.
- Heart Symbol: Several appear on her helmet, fitting for the heart and nurse of the team.
- Heroic Sacrifice: She sacrifices herself to revive the plant spirits in Rebel Rescue, though she is revived shortly after.
- Lethal Chef: Sweet S. is a notoriously bad cook, so much so that the other Supermen do everything in their power to avoid eating whatever she cooks whenever she's the one making food for them.
- Modesty Shorts: Is shown wearing them under her Art Evolution-gained dress in some shots.
- Photographic Memory: Has the sharpest memory out of the superheroes, explaining why she was the top student of her class.
- Pink Is Feminine: She is the only member of the team that wears pink on a regular basis, and as the designated girl on the team makes for a fitting color motif.
- The Smurfette Principle: She's the only female out of the Supermen.
- Team Chef: Sweet S. makes a lot of food for the other Supermen... unfortunately for them, since her food is absolutely awful.
- Weak, but Skilled: Physically speaking, Sweet S. is exhibited to be much weaker than the other superheroes. However, her intelligence and superpower prevails in fighting monsters.
- Women Are Wiser: Parodied. In one episode, she had to prove to Smart S. that females were as smart as males.
Smart S. / 花心超人 (Smart Superman / Hero Huā)

Smart S.'s cartoon design

Smart S.'s 2021 anthropomorphic design
"The protagonist is always the last to appear!"
He thinks he is the star of the show, and is very vain. His main ability involves manipulating magnetic fields, therefore giving him the power to create strong magnet links as well as magnetically charged drills. In Season 9, he can attract metals to create armour and limb enhancers, providing him more strength. However, this ability is yet to be showcased in later seasons. He represents confidence.- Agent Peacock: He's very flamboyant, in love with himself, and cares deeply about his looks. He also gets especially angry if his opponent attacks his face, which he takes pride in.
- Ambiguously Brown: He's the only hero out of the team with noticeably brown-colored skin.
- Chest Insignia: A bright yellow magnet, fitting with his powers.
- Elemental Hair Colors: Has striking, spiky blonde hair, much like his magnetic powers.
- Iconic Item: Being a narcissist, he's often seen with a handheld mirror that has a similar green, red, and blue color to him.
- It's All About Me: He tends to refer to himself as stuff like the "main character", and loves to mention how handsome he is.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Ego and vainness aside, he is still a hero who helps when he can.
- The Lancer: To Happy S. The two have a good relationship though.
- Lost in Translation: The name "Smart S.", from the Lookus dub, does not fit the character's narcissistic personality. His original Chinese name seems to be a magnetism/romantic attraction pun more properly corresponding to that trait, which seems to have gotten muddled up during translation. The Miao Mi dub names him "Romeo", which fits the characteristic better due to its romantic connotations (the idea being he's hopelessly in love with himself).
- Magnetism Manipulation: Smart S.'s primary superpower is to attract objects with his Smart S. Magnet.
- Mirrors of Vanity: Smart S., who is obsessed with his appearance and popularity, owns a handheld mirror he frequently looks into.
- Non-Indicative Name: His English name most of the time is "Smart S.", which isn't very descriptive of his actual primary character trait of being narcissistic and vain. The Miao Mi dub rectifies this by renaming him "Flowering Heart Superman" and "Romeo", the former of which is a literal translation of his original Chinese name and the latter of which conveys the idea of a hopeless romantic better.
- Teen Superspy: Sometimes does undercover missions. A prominent example is when he disguised himself and infiltrated a pirate crew during the movie Rebel Rescue.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: A sibling variation, but this is basically his relationship with Careful S. He mostly acts with jealousy and snarky smugness towards him, but he still genuinely cares about him and will protect him if needed.
Careless S. / 粗心超人 (Careless Superman / Hero Cū)

Careless S.'s cartoon design

Careless S.'s 2021 anthropomorphic design
"I forgot!"
The team's local weapon (mostly guns and anything that explodes) specialist. Seemingly does not possess any superpowers except for his prodigy in strategic thinking and enhanced knowledge in weaponry until later seasons, when it is revealed that he has electric powers. This makes Careless S. an asset in battle, as he can be very analytical as well as delivering a powerful move via his mobile supply of weapons. However, he can be very forgetful. He represents tolerance.- Blue Means Smart One: Played with. While mostly blue-colored Careless S. has a tendency to forget things, including important things such as loading ammo into a weapon before using it, he is also a good analyst and is the only Superman who possesses the knowledge to make weapons.
- Chest Insignia: A yellow circle. The art-style change removes it.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: He's very forgetful, but he's surprisingly good with weapons for someone with such a trait.
- Dreary Half-Lidded Eyes: His default expression, most likely in reference to his somewhat dim-witted personality.
- Gadgeteer Genius: He sometimes makes inventions, but they often turn out strange, like the rice cooker that looked like a toilet.
- Genius Sweet Tooth: He is usually seen with a lollipop. According to a picture launched by the creators, the lollipops he eats are very strangely flavored.
- Gun Nut: Careless S. has a genuine fascination with guns, enough to where a Season 5 episode has him getting in trouble with the teacher for keeping guns around, and he has a reaction as though he's falling in love with a specific gun in Season 10 when he sees it for the first time.
- Playful Cat Smile: He sometimes makes this face when he’s content.
- Science Hero: He builds weapons to help himself fight alongside the other Supermen, placing him on the technology end of the trope.
- Shock and Awe: Discovers that he has electric powers in later seasons, though they are difficult to control.
- Shorter Means Smarter: He’s commonly shown to be the shortest of all the Heroes, and despite his ditziness, he’s quite smart.
- Simpleton Voice: The Lookus English dub gives Careless S. a much deeper, stupider-sounding voice to accentuate his forgetfulness.
- The Smart Guy: Crosses over with Genius Ditz.
- Superhero Packing Heat: He usually uses guns, missiles, or guns that shoot missiles as his main weapon.
Cool S. / 小心超人 (Cool Superman / Careful S. / Careful Superman / Hero Xiǎo)

Cool S.'s cartoon design

Cool S.'s 2021 anthropomorphic design
"Mm!"
The last superhero who joins the team, Cool S. (formerly known as Careful S.) may look cold and aloof, but he is actually one of the nicest guys you would ever meet. Has the superpower of creating duplicates of himself, teleportation on high ground, invisibility, and energy manipulation (can concentrate energy to form a laser beam, in a punch or kick during combat, or for energy transfer, healing or in attack form). Very skilled in close-combat, particularly in martial arts and sword-fighting. He represents perseverance.- Adaptational Protagonist: Is either the main protagonist or MVP of several seasons and movies, including the spinoff season Mystery City and the films Multiverse Rescue and Rebel Rescue—perhaps due to his popularity within the fandom.
- Amateur Sleuth: Is often summoned by the police to solve cases due to his impressive deductive reasoning and intelligence. He is seen working as a detective in the movies The Stones and Rebel Rescue, the latter in which he tricked the culprit into admitting his crimes.
- Animal Motifs: He is often associated with cats, partially due to his independent, distant personality, and his physical traits such as his fangs and the shape of his helmet. It helps that he is a Kindhearted Cat Lover despite his cat fur allergy. He even once got magically turned into a cat in Season 18.
- Antiquated Linguistics: Cool S. (plus his personality clone Ancient Cool) has an extensive vocabulary and is clearly skilled in literature, including archaic Chinese. Because of this, he can speak in idioms while still getting straight to the point, as well as recite ancient Chinese poetry (albeit in monotone).
- Big Damn Heroes: Is this in the film Rebel Rescue, in which he concocts a plan (and backup plan) to save Sweet S. from her possession, becomes the MVP of the final battle against Zǐluó and Zǐlán, and later makes another spontaneous plan to help revive Sweet S. when she sacrifices herself to revive the plant spirits.
- The Big Guy: Fills this role for the team in a non-physical sense, being around the same size as the rest of them but still the most skilled at fighting.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: In the 1st Movie, by the Shapeshifter. He breaks out of it eventually.
- Cat Boy: The projections sticking out of his helmet resemble cat ears. His sharp gaze and his fangs also contribute to his feline appearance.
- Chest Insignia: Planet Gray's symbol to represent how he was continuously used by evil from Season 1 to 9. Adopted Kalo's triangle starting from Season 10 likely to reminisce their companionship as 侠义双雄 (the Gallant duo).
- Chronic Hero Syndrome: Pretty much the second-most likely to jump in to help, apart from Happy S.
- Cute Little Fangs: He’s got one, mainly shown whenever he smirks. The fact that he looks like a cat doesn't help at all with his allergy.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Main colour is black (and later purple), Pre-Art Evolution symbol is for the Big Bad’s planet, quite unemotive and quiet… And also genuinely heroic and nice.
- Determinator: Careful S. stands for determination and willpower. This is displayed in all seasons, but especially in Seasons 3, 7, 10, and 11. It is also displayed in Movie 4.
- Facial Markings: One of his split-personality duplicates has noticeable red-colored physical traits to indicate his evilness as his main characteristic. One of these traits is that he has two red facial markings, one on each cheek.
- Flash Step: He often gets around by using something like this, where he teleports short distances between given points.
- Fusion Dance: Played with. Combines forces twice with Kalo, first near the end of Season 7 and again
◊ in the movie Multiverse Rescue. - Genius Bruiser: He is quite intelligent for his age, and deadly with a sword. One of his attacks is also a Roundhouse Kick.
- Heroic Ambidexterity: Usually wields two swords (morphed by Kalo) in combat. Can engage with two or more different targets in battle (with or without duplicates), proving to be a prowess in battle. see Season 11.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Kalo, although there are hints of Ship Tease.
- Iconic Sequel Character: Just barely averted. Careful S. is perhaps even more beloved than Happy S., but he doesn't make his first official appearance in the series until the finale of Season 1, Early Bird Cameos in the Season 1 intro and posters aside.
- Kick Chick: Gender-inverted. His preferred martial art technqiues involve leg power, so he gets some Leg Focus once in a while.
- Literal Split Personality: An episode of Season 3 has him split into multiple distinct clones of himself
◊, each with their unique personality (all their personalities are apparently part of the main Careful S.'s personality according to Doctor H., though since Careful S. is The Stoic he doesn't display any of these traits). The specific duplicates are named Naive Careful, Ancient Careful, Rebel Careful, and Evil Careful. - Manipulative Bastard: Downplayed. He tends to make strategies with Kalo as the sole informant. In Rebel Rescue, he makes a last-minute plan to steal the Scepter from the Superhero Alliance in order to save Sweet S., with Kalo the only other one aware of this ploy. He tricks a reckless Happy S. into temporarily killing him so that Kalo can deliver Cool S.'s mechanical stone (infused with Kalo's energy) to the Void Domain, where Cool S. would revive and retrieve the Scepter, knowing full well how overprotective Happy S. is towards the possessed Sweet S. and that Happy S. could not bear to kill Cool S. if the former knew the plan's full details.
- Nerves of Steel: Tends not to show much emotion, even when in danger.
- Non-Standard Character Design: The irises of his eyes are designed differently from the other superheroes of his team. His look more like real-life eyes, having a noticeable color and a pupil, whereas the other superheroes have just a simple black iris with a highlight inside. His mechanical stone is also designed differently, being mostly smooth and round save for the three white folds sticking out, while the other four mechanical stones are chunkier and have sharper edges.
- No Sense of Direction: Downplayed compared to most examples, but he still gets lost easily without visible directions. Doctor H. even mentions this trait as part of a Spot the Imposter situation in the First Movie.
- Not So Stoic: Despite him being cool-headed mostly, there are quite a lot of times where he’ll show more emotion. The most notable and famous example being his reaction to Kalo’s death.
- Perpetual Frowner: It's not especially often that Careful S. smiles, particularly in the earlier seasons, and when he attempts to smile on command, it looks quite terrifying.
- Plot Allergy: To cats. If he comes into contact with one, he starts sneezing and coughing.
- Purple Is the New Black: Later seasons change the color of his suit from black to purple.
- The Quiet One: He doesn't talk as much as the other heroes.
- Rubik's Cube: International Genius Symbol: He is exhibited to be very intelligent, and he is constantly seen with a Rubik's Cube.
- Self-Duplication: One of his abilities is creating duplicates of himself. This technique is called "Cool Clones".
- The Slacker: Despite being extremely intelligent, he doesn't put much thought into his schoolwork and used to be a truant when he was younger.
- The Strategist: He is often in charge of making intricate plans in order to solve mysteries, overcome obstacles or reach particular goals.
- Super-Empowering: At least one episode shows that Careful S. can temporarily give others the ability to duplicate like him simply by touching them.
- Super-Intelligence: Is very Street Smart, emotionally and logically mature, possesses an exceptional memory for details, has a sharp alertness, can wield numerous weapons, usually maintains a rational mindset, etc. There's a reason why the police hire him to help solve cases.
- Technicolor Eyes: In the cartoon and in anthropomorphic art, Cool S.'s irises are often depicted in various shades of red, including burgundy, maroon, deep red, etc.
- The Un-Smile: Whenever he tries to smile on command, it looks utterly terrifying
◊. Downplayed in later seasons. - Vitriolic Best Buds: A sibling variation, but this is basically his relationship with Smart S. He mostly ignores his attempts to get under his skin (although he does have a couple moments of sniping back) but he still genuinely cares about him and will protect him if needed.
- When He Smiles: He rarely smiles in the earlier seasons, and when he gives a natural one
◊, it's small but beautiful. His forced smiles on the other hand are absolutely horrifying.
Kalo
Kalo / 伽罗

Kalo's cartoon design

Kalo's 2021 anthropomorphic design
"Kalo, Knight Admiral of Planet Adeli, Number TC-9527, is at your command."
Formally known as Knight Admiral #TC-9527, Kalo is the best friend of Careful S. and his companion in battle. and the other four superheroes of Planet Xing. Originally from Planet Adeli before its destruction. Can turn his own bodyparts into inanimate objects as well as controlling electronic objects. His body is composed entirely out of energy, as signified by the flames. Therefore, as we learn in Season 7, when he uses more energy, he is literally burning his lifeline. He represents integrity.- Adaptational Protagonist: Is the co-protagonist with Cool S. in the spinoff season Mystery City—perhaps due to his popularity within the fandom.
- Barbie Doll Anatomy: Thankfully, considering he never really wears clothes.
- Bash Brothers: With Careful S.
- Big Brother Mentor: Primarily to Careful S, but also to the rest of the alliance. His mature and knowledgeable side is specifically displayed in early episodes of season 11 through the advice he gives.
- Which is somewhat logical for the producers to assign him the Mentor Occupational Hazard.
- Chest Insignia: An inverted triangle (Nabla) just below his chest. Careful S. later adopts the triangle into his own symbol in Season 10, possibly to solidify and bear in mind Kalo's sacrifice and legacy.
- Companion Cube: A variant; Kalo becomes Careful S.'s Rubik's Cube not long after they meet for the first time in Season 3, due to the events of Kalo's premiere episode leading to Careful S.'s original Rubik's Cube breaking.
- The Confidant: Is this whenever Cool S. comes up with a plan, since they are partners and trust each other implicitly.
- Cool Shades: He is often seen wearing a pair of black shades.
- Crisis Catch-and-Carry: He sometimes carries people this way, the most notable examples being Cool S. and Lisa in Season 10 and the spinoff season Mystery City.
- Disney Death: Died in Season 7 but is confirmed to be alive in Season 10.
- Distressed Dude: How many times has Kalo died, been knocked out or possessed again? In the movie Multiverse Rescue, he is attacked by a parallel version of himself and has his energy stolen from him. Cool S. travels through numerous parallel dimensions in order to take back his energy and revive him.
- Equippable Ally: Kalo can shapeshift and is often used as a pair of swords by Careful S.
- Exposed Extraterrestrials: He’s an alien when compared to the rest of the main cast and he wears nothing but a visor (though the new art-style gives him a pair of white boots).
- Faceless Eye: His debut episodes have him frequently morphed into a Cephalothorax body shape that has a single eye for a face. He stops using it later on.
- Flaming Hair: Sort of. Kalo has blue energy flames on the top of his head where hair would normally be.
- Fusion Dance: Played with. Combines forces twice with Careful S., first near the end of Season 7 and again
◊ in the movie Multiverse Rescue. - Heavenly Blue: Related to his title of "Zhan Shen" (God of War) to Adelians.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Careful S., although there are hints of Ship Tease.
- Honor Before Reason: A flaw of his back in earlier episodes, due to coming from a military-based planet. He grows out of it.
- I Gave My Word: Makes a vow of loyalty to Cool S. in Season 3: "Kalo, Knight Admiral of Planet Adeli, Number TC-9527, is at your command." The two have been companions ever since.
- Karmic Trickster: In the movie Rebel Rescue, Kalo is this whenever someone wrongs Cool S. in any way. When a robot civilian insulted Cool S. for taking seven days to get him out of a forest, Kalo charged the civilian's phone—and the civilian's body with it despite Kalo being capable of avoiding it, electrocuting the guy in the process. Kalo's smug grin before the robot collapsed implied that he zapped the civilian on purpose. He also scammed an AI Search Engine robot who had cheated Cool S. of his money, smiling at his partner after getting the latter's money back.
- Long-Haired Pretty Boy: In anthropomorphic art, Kalo is often depicted with long aquamarine blue hair tied in a high ponytail.
- Military Superhero: He was in the military pre-series.
- Not Afraid to Die: He isn't afraid to die for the greater good of Planet Xing Xing and does so in Season 7 - he kills himself to drive away an army of enemy spaceships.
- Older Than He Looks: Kalo is confirmed by the creators to be around 30 (see also Season 9). The animation style, however, does not particularly reflect that in a visual aspect. May be justified as he's an alien from Planet Adeli and the way he ages may be different from that of the other characters.
- Put on a Bus: Since his ultimate death in season 7, and until his revival in Season 10, he only appears once physically in Season 9, Episode 13, when his 25-year-younger-self is scouting a crime scene with Careful S. (Sadly, Careful S. does not recognize him, since he has a human disguise on.)
- Shout-Out: His formal name is Knight Admiral #TC-9527. The number 9527 comes from the Hong Kong movie Flirting Scholar (唐伯虎点秋香), where the main character disguises as slave #9527. One of the screenwriters of Happy Friends at the time snuck in the reference because they really liked the film.
- Sixth Ranger: He's the only non-Superman of the main team and isn't established to be one of them until Season 3, and he initially doesn't make nearly as many appearances as the other team members.
- Technicolor Fire: His fire "hair" is blue.
- Technopath: He has the ability to control machines and other items fueled by energy, sometimes by spiritually possessing them. This power extends to being used on other Adelians since they are beings made of energy—in Season 10, he once possessed Āqí to save the latter from a hostage situation.
- Token Non-Human: The Supermen are human-like robots rather than, y'know, actually humans, but Kalo is still the only person on their team who is very distinctly alien to their planet.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Seems to be watermelons, as an official illustration made for his birthday and a scene in Season 5 episode 22 show.
- Undying Loyalty: To Cool S., who took him in during Season 3. He always obeys Cool S.'s requests and commands.
- Voluntary Shapeshifting: Part of his powers. Major forms include; his normal one, the Cephalothorax one he takes in earlier episodes, a jet-pack, a sword and a Rubik’s Cube.
- You Can't Go Home Again: His home planet Adeli was destroyed prior to Season 3. He eventually finds a new home in Planet Xing. It is implied in Multiverse Rescue that Kalo's new concept of home is Cool S.—a person rather than a place—for when the parallel Kalos were restored and returned to their respective worlds, the main Kalo was dropped off where Cool S. was—the ancient parallel dimension instead of the main universe.
- Zodiac Motifs: One of Kalo's battle techniques involves aiming a large energy blast the shape of an adult male lion. Fitting, since Kalo's Western zodiac is Leo the lion.
People of Planet Xīng
Dr. H / 宅博士 (Zhái Bó Shì / Doctor Zhái)

Dr. H's cartoon design

Dr. H's 2022 anthropomorphic design
The nonbiological father of the five superheroes of Planet Xīng, and a mechanic who prefers to stay inside his house. The H stands for "House" or "Home."
He is present in Season 9, but as a 25-year-younger-self, who just lost his father; known as Little H.
- Berserk Button: Heaven help you if you make fun of Miss Peach in front of him, since he has a crush on her.
- Celeb Crush: Has a crush on planet Xing Xing's celebrity news reporter, Miss Peach.
- Child Prodigy: He's been inventing stuff since he was a child. In particular, Season 9 shows that when he was young, he built a working Time Machine out of cardboard in an attempt to save his dad from being abducted by aliens.
- Evil Costume Switch: When he succumbs to the Planet Gray virus in Season 5 and becomes that season's Arc Villain, he switches out his yellow and purple shirt and helmet for gray ones, as well as a light gray vest.
- Fangs Are Evil: While under the effects of the virus in Season 5, Doctor H. has a small fang pointing upwards in his mouth, whereas the normal Doctor H. has no fangs at all.
- Fingerless Hands: He has the "mitten hands" variety in the first two episodes before they're changed to the standard Four-Fingered Hands.
- Good Parents: He’s not their biological father, but he still deeply cares about the Superheroes and gives them advice and comfort when needed.
- Hikkikomori: He prefers to stay at home.
- Meaningful Name: He's named Doctor House/Home (or Doctor Zhai, with "zhai" meaning "house" in Chinese) because he prefers to stay in his home and is usually scared to go outside.
- Paint It Black: Throughout Season 5, when Doctor H. is brainwashed into working with Big M. and Little M., his signature purple and yellow suit and helmet change to black and gray, with the black and gray suit in particular coming with a vest whereas Doctor H.'s normal clothing doesn't have one.
- Papa Wolf: Despite knowing that they can protect themselves, he still occasionally acts like this towards the Superheroes. For instance, during episode 52 of Season 1, he jumps between them and a giant robot. While injured.
- Parental Substitute: Doctor H. acts as a sort of father to the Supermen, taking care of them to make sure they're functioning properly. Happy S. even calls him "daddy" when he first interacts with him in the second episode.
- Proud to Be a Geek: His knack for inventing things and crush on news reporter Miss Peach seem to indicate he's geeky. Indeed, in the first movie, he has no problem calling himself a "total geek" and it's mentioned that he was nominated to be the Geek Association's President.
- Single-Target Sexuality: He never strays from having a crush on Miss Peach.
- Technological Pacifist: He creates a wide variety of non-weapon things.Doctor H.: Why does it have to be a weapon? The same materials could be used to create things useful to people!
- Teen Genius: His childhood ability to invent stuff stuck with him even after he grew up, including during his teen years.
- Temporarily a Villain: He becomes infected by the Planet Gray virus in Season 5 and becomes that season's main villain alongside Big M. and Little M., eventually being reverted to normal near the season finale.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: He accidentally caused the incidents with elevator doors that caused Big M. and Little M. to become ugly idiots, back when he was a kid.

Big M. is on the left, and Little M. is on the right.
Tropes shared by both characters:
- Big Eater: The two rarely get to eat anything, so whenever they do find food, they usually scarf it down pretty quickly.
- Big Guy, Little Guy: Big M. is the big guy and Little M. is the little guy.
- Evil Duo: Big M. is the one who masterminds the plans to take over Planet Xing, and has some level of competence compared to his corporal assistant Little M., who often catches Big M. off-guard with his weirdness, probably since he's literally a child.
- Master of Disguise: Big M. and Little M. frequently take on a number of paper thin disguises - from salesmen to a mother and child to Sailor Moonnote of all people in Big M.'s case - to perpetrate their evil plans, and they have a tendency to work, convincing even the Supermen.
- Unknown Rival: With at least one exception in Season 8 where Sweet S. nearly discovers Big M. is a villain before Huo Haha manages to convince her otherwise, the Supermen are completely unaware that Big M. and Little M. are trying to invade their home planet and send out most of the monsters they fight - even if the evidence is right there in plain sight. It isn't until Season 13 when the Supermen finally learn of their former plans to invade Planet Xing.
Big M. / 大大怪 (General Biggy)

Big M.'s cartoon design

Big M.'s 2021 anthropomorphic design
The first major antagonist of the show. He makes all of the attempts he can to get back to his home planet, Planet Gray, but he inevitably fails. He also tries to take over planet Xing Xing often. In Season 9: his teenage-self.- Aliens of London: The Miao Mi English dub gives him a noticeable British accent for a few episodes.
- Big Bad: He is primarily responsible for the bad happenings on planet Xing Xing for a good part of the series, being responsible specifically for unleashing different monsters on Xing Xing's residents.
- Butt-Monkey: The show loves to put him through slapstick and embarrassing situations.
- Defeat Catchphrase: In later episodes, he often shouts "Darn it, we failed again!" when the Supermen defeat him or one of his monsters.
- Domino Mask: Big M. wears a mask of this kind.
- Early Installment Character-Design Difference: In the first two episodes, he has two spiky shoulder pads on his green suit of armor that disappear starting from the third episode. The Planet Gray symbols on his headband and belt also do not have antennae in the first two episodes.
- Evil Brit: A small handful of Miao Mi's English-dubbed episodes give him a British accent.
- Evil Is Bigger: His name is Big M., for starters. While he's not especially large, he is slightly taller than most human characters and robots you can find on Planet Xing. In Season 10, they made him even bigger, and in the third movie he's bigger still. Little M. is over half the length of Big M. when the series begins; in Season 10, he's half the length instead; and in the movie, Big M.'s length is equivalent to about three Little M.'s placed on top of each other.
- Evil Is Hammy: He has a more exaggerated, hammy voice in the Lookus English dub.
- Expressive Accessory: The Planet Gray insignias on his headband and belt have faces that often make different facial expressions depending on what face Big M. is making.
- Gonk: Big M. is deliberately made to look ugly, with his puffed-up lips and zig-zagged mustache. In-universe, he's so ugly that anyone who looks right at him throws up on the spot.
- Green and Mean: He's the primary antagonist of the show and wears a suit of green armor.
- Improbably High I.Q.: Before he got slammed in the face by elevator doors and became his current self, Big M. had an IQ of over 200.
- I Was Quite a Looker: As shown in Season 3 episode 20 and Season 9, he was once a dashing young fellow with an IQ of over 200. Then he got hit in-between two elevator doors. Repeatedly.
- Maker of Monsters: In numerous seasons, Big M. has some kind of device at his disposal to create monsters. In Season 1, he has the Black Jewel, which has the ability to turn objects into monsters; in Season 2, he has the Evil Egg, which creates an object that turns another object into a monster if it touches it; and in Season 5, he has the Planet Gray virus to infect people and turn them into monsters against their will.
- Red/Green Contrast: Big M. is a villain in green armor, contrasting with Happy S.'s heroic red color scheme.
- Share the Sickness: In "Sickness Crisis", Little M. catches a cold, giving Big M. the idea to spread it across planet Xing, and getting himself infected as well for more ground coverage
- Shoulders of Doom: In the first two episodes (and only the first two episodes), his armor has two shoulder pads with spikes on them.
- Spikes of Villainy: In the first two episodes, anyway, where he has two spiky shoulder pads on his green suit of armor. These shoulder pads disappear starting with episode 3.
- Superheroes Wear Capes: Inverted. Big M., a villain, wears a cape, a feature that the Supermen don't have.
- Terrible Artist: As shown in Season 8 episode 12, where he tries to draw a door and winds up with what looks more like a hole. Little M. has to go find an art teacher to give him lessons on how to draw better, and by the time the lessons are over he's able to draw a Fourth-Wall Portrait of a live-action human with ease.
Little M. / 小小怪 (Soldier Little)

Little M.'s cartoon design

Little M.'s 2022 anthropomorphic design
Big M.'s assistant, who helps him in his attempts to get back home or take over planet Xing Xing.- Brought to You by the Letter "S": In the third movie, his helmet's default display is an "M" on its screen.
- Butt-Monkey: Not as much as Big M., but he still gets put through awkward situations.
- Enfant Terrible: He's young enough to be in the same classroom as the Supermen and takes interest in helping Big M. take over Planet Xing.
- I Was Quite a Looker: He’s still cute, but Season 3 episode 20 shows that was quite handsome before being hit by elevator doors.
- Plucky Comic Relief: He provides most of the comedy in any scene featuring him and Big M.
Major antagonists and monsters
The Commander / 灰心司令
The commander of Planet Gray's military. His face is never shown on camera; he usually has his back to the audience or has his face covered.- The Faceless: His face is completely obscured from view whenever he appears. In Season 12, we do get to see some of his face; he has a big bushy mustache, but his eyes are still obscured from sight due to a shadow coming from his hat.
- Good Smoking, Evil Smoking: He's one of the villains from Planet Gray and is often seen holding a cigarette in his hand.
- Orcus on His Throne: He's never seen doing much outside the chair he sits on.
Duàn Dāo Liú / 断刀流
A military leader of Planet Dāo Bā; he tried multiple times to conquer Planet Xīng.Caesar / 凯撒
An Adelian who played a part in the destruction of his home planet. Helped Duàn Dāo Liú attack Planet Xīng, and played a role in Kalo's ultimate death in Season 7.- Exposed Extraterrestrials: Being an Adelian, he wears nothing but a visor, as well as a cape (though model sheets featuring the new art-style give him a pair of white boots).
- The Killer Becomes the Killed: He is ultimately killed by the combined forces of Cool S. and Kalo near the end of Season 7.
Shapeshifter / Transformation M. / 变形怪
The monster from the first movie; it was shown that they wanted to be an inventor.- Ambiguous Gender: They're not referred to with gendered pronouns for any of their appearances.
- Canon Immigrant: Their first appearance is in the first movie, but they later make an appearance as a minor antagonist in Season 9.
- Voluntary Shapeshifting: He mainly takes the form of Doctor H., and is shown to mimic his behaviour so well, it fools even the Heroes at first.
Huò Hā Hā / 嚯哈哈
A magician who worked for Planet Gray; he owned a book written by his ancestor Xiào Hā Hā, which was about the old days when magic was still prevalent, and competed with the heroes in finding the four magical staffs: fire, wind, electricity and ice.
- Affably Evil: He works for the villains Big M. and Little M., but has a heart of gold and genuinely cares for others.
- Alliterative Name: His name repeats the letter "H".
- Animal Motifs: It's not touched upon much, but based on part of his hood forming a beak-like shape and him owning a pet owl, he seems to be associated with owls.
- Arc Villain: In Season 8, he has the closest personal connection to the History of Magic book and the elemental staffs Big M. and Little M. want to use to kill the president. Makes sense, since his ancestor Xiao Haha is the one who wrote the book and used it to contain the staffs in the first place.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Played for Hypocritical Humor. Huo Haha is genuinely interested in killing the president of Planet Xing, but has problems with things being too unethical for his tastes. Killing the president of Planet Xing is clearly not ethical, so most of his problems are insignificant in comparison: he thinks his evil laugh is too scary for the Supermen and apologizes for it, and insists on being quiet in a library, for example.
- Fireballs: He shoots fireballs from his toilet plunger wand on a couple of occasions to attack the Supermen.
- Identical Grandson: Though it's only made clear that Xiao Haha is Huo Haha's ancestor and it's never mentioned if he's his grandfather specifically, in many ways, the two still resemble each other quite a bit, with one of the main differences being that Huo doesn't have a beard like Xiao.
- Improbable Weapon User: His toilet plunger makes a surprisingly competent magic wand.
- Lunacy: As shown in Season 8 episode 33, he absorbs moonlight to power his magic. This causes his powers to weaken when he casts an Endless Daytime spell.
- Mad Libs Catchphrase: He prefaces some of his magic spells with "Huo huo, ha ha, [intended effect of the spell]!"
- Magical Incantation: Quite a few of the magic spells he uses are prefaced with "Huo huo, ha ha, _____!". The blank is where he says the intended effect of the spell.
- Magic Wand: He uses what is clearly a toilet plunger to cast his magic spells.
- Perma-Stubble: Huo Haha has a noticeable stubble on his chin.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: His pupils turn red when he's in his superpowered form from using all the elemental staffs in Season 8 episode 40.
- Token Wizard: Any time he's working alongside Big M. and Little M., he's the only wizard out of the villains.
- Unfortunate Names: The fact that his name sounds like laughing seems like something that would lend itself to actual laughs at his expense. This is directly lampshaded in the first episode of Season 8 by way of a Who's on First? joke when Big M. and Little M. meet him for the first time.Huo Haha: Hi. I'm the magician who attacked the president, Huo Haha!
[Big M. wallops Huo Haha, resulting in a Hit Flash and a Cranial Eruption on Huo]
Big M.: Enough! Do you think I was joking? Be serious!
Huo Haha: But I didn't laugh. My name is Huo Haha.
Tropes shared by Yuè Wǔ and Xīng Yǐng:
- Celestial Theme Naming: Yuè Wǔ's name translates to "Moon Dance", and Xīng Yǐng's name translates to "Star Shadow", both with celestial theming in them.
- The Power of Rock: They summon their monsters by shouting/singing into microphones.
- Red/Green Contrast: Yuè Wǔ has bluish-green hair and bluish-green accents on her outfit. Xīng Yǐng has red hair, and his outfit is predominantly red and black.
- Rotten Rock & Roll: They're villains, and shouting into microphones rock-and-roll style is how they summon monsters.
Yuè Wǔ / 月舞 (direct translation: Moon Dance)
- Action Girl: She’s good with those giant chopsticks, although she’s good with hand-to-hand too.
- Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Despite acting cold most of the time, she does have moments where it’s clear she does care about her friends.
- Big Eater: She eats a lot, once being shown having eaten several bowls of noodles at a restaurant. Whenever she finds food, she will eat it too.
- Improbable Weapon User: A pair of giant chopsticks.
- Odango Hair: Wears her hair in this style. They have chopsticks stuck in them.
- Plot Allergy: To mango, as shown when she breaks out in hives when she eats a pudding containing it.
- Taking the Bullet: For Xingying, in Season 13. Kind of an Idiot Ball moment though…
Xīng Yǐng / 星影 (direct translation: Star Shadow)
- Affably Evil: Shows signs of this compared to the more cold Yuè Wǔ, once challenging Happy S. to a friendly noodle-eating contest.
- Fiery Redhead: His hair is red and he’s definitely a lot more energetic when compared to Yuè Wǔ.
- White Hair, Black Heart: Later seasons have his hair be a pale blonde colour.
Other
Notable minor characters
Zelia / 蟑螂 (Zhāng Láng / Cockroach)
A minor character in the series. Zelia appeared only in a few episodes: she was introduced in Season 1, appeared in some episodes in Seasons 3 & 4, and one in Season 5. She also appeared in the 2nd movie.- The Bus Came Back: She finally reappears in Season 12.
- Disney Death: In the 2nd movie. It sent Happy S. into a Heroic BSoD for sometime.
- A Dog Named "Cat": A person named Cockroach in at least one translation.

- Ship Tease: Has some with Happy S.
Arcas / 阿卡斯 (Ā Kǎ Sī)
He is Kalo's Adeli army friend, and was introduced in Season 3, with two episodes. He appears a few more times after: two episodes, in Season 6, and in the four-part Season 7 arc. Seen again in a memory of Kalo recounting his encounter with Thunder M.- Arm Cannon: His weapon of choice, possibly to contrast with Kalo’s swords.
- Childhood Friends: Is this to Kalo.
- Exposed Extraterrestrials: Being an Adelian like Kalo, he wears nothing but a visor (although the new art-style gives him a pair of white boots).
- Fiery Redhead: A literal example. The flames coming out of his body are coloured red. He’s also quite dramatic.
- Frame-Up: For stealing important documents, by Kalo, to prevent him from getting into the Adelian Guard. He had a good reason for doing this though.
- Human Popsicle: More like “Adelian Popsicle”. He, along with his ship, was frozen in ice after he crashed on Planet Xing Xing when his ship malfunctioned . In episode 12 of Season 3, Big M. and Little M. come across him after yet another scheme goes wrong and end up accidentally breaking him out.
- Harmless Freezing: It’s unknown exactly how long he was frozen for, but when he breaks out, he’s completely fine, not even needing the bathroom.
- The Scapegoat: Caesar was planning to push the blame for his treachery onto him, leading Kalo to do the Frame-Up mentioned above.
- We Used to Be Friends: Kalo and him were friends growing up, but after Kalo had him framed and put in jail, he formed a hatred for him. They repair their friendship after Arcas finds out about why Kalo did it (and also that he saved his parents).

Oversensitive S. / 多心超人 (Oversensitive Superman / Suspicious S. / Hero Duō)
- The Bus Came Back: He reappears, along with the other Planet Ancient heroes, in Season 11.
- Captain Patriotic: His love for Planet Guling can be displayed as the other two superheroes literally had to drag him away, under the orders of the Village Mayor, when the planet was under crisis in Season 11.
- Chest Insignia: A large, yellow, upside-down triangle.
- Improperly Paranoid: His main character trait is that he has the tendency to overreact and jump to conclusions way too easily. He opposes the Xing Xing Heroes for a time due to this.
- Playing with Fire: His main power. He usually shoots small fireballs from his hands.
Sad S. / 伤心超人 (Sad Superwoman / Hero Shāng)
- The Bus Came Back: She reappears, along with the other Planet Ancient heroes, in Season 11.
- Chest Insignia: A heart with a crack down the middle. Oddly, unlike other heroes with both head and chest insignia, the colour of it doesn’t match the one on her head (the one on her head is pink, while the one on her chest is neon green).
- The Eeyore: Quite morose as evidenced by her name.
- Ocular Gushers: She weaponises this.
- Prone to Tears: As part of her frail nature.
- The Smurfette Principle: The only girl in the Guling Heroes.

- Blow You Away: He can create tornadoes and winds as his attack.
- The Bus Came Back: He reappears, along with the other Guiling Heroes, in Season 11.
- Chest Insignia: A blue X-mark.
- Flat Character: Not focused on all that much compared to his partners. All we really have is that he’s a germaphobe… And that’s it, basically.
- Terrified of Germs: To the point where he needed a special suit to save a child in a mud pit.
The Robo-King / 机械国王
- Adipose Rex: He has the appropriate name and getup for royalty, and much of his bulk forms a cephalothorax-esque shape, with the only thing distinguishing him from a cephalothorax being his head is separate. His arms and legs are also downright stubby.
- Walking Spoiler: He doesn't appear in his debut season until near the finale and he's responsible for introducing technology to Planet Xing, clearly indicating that his plot relevance is meant to be a surprise.
Season 7 characters from Planet Wàng Cái and Planet Miāo Měi
Tropes shared by the inhabitants of both planets:
- Alien Animals: The Woofians are alien dogs and the Miaolings are alien cats.
- Cat/Dog Dichotomy: The doglike Woofians and the catlike Miaolings are rival races.
- Funny Animal: They're races of anthropomorphic dogs and cats that have the more animalistic features of both (the cats have retractable claws, the dogs sit on all fours, both species have stereotypical diets of bones and fish, etc.).
- Humanlike Hand Anatomy: Both races have the standard Four-Fingered Hands instead of the paws that actual dogs and cats have.
- Planet of Hats: Planet Wangcai/Planet Woof is a planet of dog aliens, while Planet Miaomei/Planet Miao is a planet of cats.
- Stock Animal Diet: The doglike Woofians like to eat bones, and the catlike Miaolings like to eat fish.
Ambassador Wàng Cái / 汪财星大使

Before that, in the first episode of Season 7, by the time his mother Ambassador Wang has arrived on Planet Xing, he's doodled a fake mustache on her while she was sleeping.
Kěkě / 可可
Movie 4 characters from parallel universes
NOTE: As counterparts of important characters from the main universe, many of the tropes listed below describe characteristics that differentiate them from the main characters.
The deuteragonist of Multiverse Rescue and a parallel version of Kalo. Although he is initially portrayed to be physically weak and innocent, he is kindhearted and friendly, and like all other Kalos, brave and strong-willed. However, he has a strained relationship with his father, who has been pressuring him to become the next God of War ever since Kalo was very young.
The main antagonist of Multiverse Rescue and another parallel version of Kalo. He is responsible for starting the movie's plot by travelling across parallel dimensions and killing his alternate selves to steal their energy so that he can restore his own world's Planet Adeli. By attacking the main universe's Kalo, Cool S. lands up in the ancient parallel dimension and begins his adventure of reviving his own world's Kalo (and the other Kalos by extension).
The parallel version of Happy S.
The parallel version of Sweet S.
The parallel version of Smart S. He recruits the Cool S. of his universe into the superhero team at the end of the film.
The parallel version of Careless S. Unlike his main counterpart, this Careless S. appears to not have poor short-term memory.
The parallel version of Cool S. and the last hero to join the team. Formerly known as Cool M. / Cool Monster (小心怪), he originally works for ancient Big M. and Little M., but after encountering his Alternate Self, he starts to question his own morality and considers abandoning his villainous role to become a hero.

Kalo / 伽罗 (ancient version)

- Badass Adorable: He kicks the other contestants' butts during the God of War competition in the middle of the movie.
- Break the Cutie: Kalo is heartbroken when Cool S. leaves for several days without a word (because the latter is going on a dangerous mission to gather the energies from all of the Kalos and does not want to drag ancient Kalo into it). Later, he succumbs to his desire to become stronger and the new God of War, breaking the capsule containing the Kalos' energy to use such power for himself. Unfortunately, his mind cannot handle the power and he mutates.
- Doppelgänger Gets Same Sentiment: Eventually, Cool S. accepts that ancient Kalo, while not the exact same person as main Kalo, is still a version of him and therefore shares many characteristics with him, most of which are good. Because of this, Cool S. learns to trust him.
- Eldritch Transformation: Goes through this after succumbing to his desire to become stronger and taking all of the Kalos' energy for himself. His mind cannot handle the power and he transforms into a monster that Cool S. and Karl are obliged to defeat.
- Final Boss: Becomes this after merging with all of the Kalos' energy near the end of the movie, losing control of his mind in the process.
- Friendless Background: Because Karl always made Kalo train to become his successor, Kalo grew up without any friends. Cool S. becomes Kalo's first real friend in the movie.
- Hidden Badass: He's actually quite competent in defending himself once he has enough self-confidence.
- I Am Not My Father: Since Kalo used to be quite frail, people often made fun of him for being so different from his ancestors. This discouragement has plagued Kalo for years.
- Innocent Blue Eyes: His eyes are a bright blue, and he is a kindhearted youth with heroic qualities.
- Mass Resurrection: After becoming the new God of War, Kalo resurrects all of the other versions of himself, including main Kalo and purple Kalo.
- Missing Mom: Kalo's mother is never mentioned in the movie—assuming he has one.
- Nice Guy: He is generally cheerful and friendly, willing to lend a hand to a stranger who needs help.
- Self-Made Orphan: While in the form of a mutated monster, he fatally injures his father.
- Thinking Up Portals: Gains this power after mutating and becoming the new God of War.
- Weak, but Skilled: Is initially this, but proves himself capable of becoming a successor candidate for the title of God of War later in the film.
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: He has always wanted his father to be proud of him, but his father doesn't show him any verbal affection—well, until the end of the movie.
- You Kill It, You Bought It: After his father succumbs to his injuries, Kalo succeeds him as the new God of War.
Kalo / 伽罗 (purple version)

- Covered with Scars: He has numerous scars on his face and body, at least some of which are universe scars earned from traveling through various dimensions to steal his other selves' energy. However, his universe scars are much more severe than Cool S.'s. This could be karmic retribution for killing his alternate selves.
- Dark Is Evil: His symbolic color is purple and he wears a dark cloak. He is also the most wicked out of the various Kalos in the film.
- Disney Death: Succumbs to his injuries after his final battle against the heroes but is revived and returned home by ancient Kalo at the end of the movie.
- Purple Is Impure: His symbolic color is purple, and he is the most wicked version of Kalo.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: While burning up his own energy during his final battle against the heroes, his irises turn red and his sclera turn black.
- Sympathetic Villain, Despicable Villain: He resorts to villainy in order to save his homeland. Everything he does is for the sake of his lost planet. This doesn't excuse him of his crimes, however.
- A Taste of Their Own Medicine: Kills his alternate selves, only to be defeated by the heroes, succumb to his injuries and have his energy used by ancient Kalo later.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: His mission is to restore Planet Adeli, which is quite a noble goal, but he literally murders his alternate selves and steals their energy in order to do so.
- Would Hurt a Child: One of the Kalos that purple Kalo had attacked is a literal child. This says a lot about how far purple Kalo will go to achieve his goal.
Tropes shared by the five superheroes from the ancient universe

The five superheroes of the ancient universe. From left to right: Happy S., Cool S., Smart S., Sweet S. and Careless S.
The parallel versions of the five main superheroes of the main universe. Like the main universe, the team started off with four members, and Cool S. is the last to join. Unlike their main counterparts, the ancient superheroes have elemental powers.- Alternate Self: The five are parallel versions of the five main superheroes.
- Elemental Powers: Each hero is associated with a different element or other natural item.
- Happy S. manipulates fire.
- Sweet S. manipulates plants.
- Smart S. manipulates earth.
- Careless S. manipulates electricity.
- Cool S. manipulates ice.
Happy S. / 开心超人

- Catchphrase: In Chinese, ancient Happy S.'s catchphrase—"Happy S. is here!"—is a modified version of his modern counterpart's. While the main Happy S. usually says: “开心超人来了!”, ancient Happy S.'s version differs by one character: “开心超人来也!”
- Energy Donation: The other heroes donate some of their energy to Happy S. so that he can land a final blow on purple Kalo.
- Playing with Fire: One of his powers is pyrokinesis.
- The Power of Friendship: He encourages everyone to work together to defeat purple Kalo. The main Cool S., remembering the time when his own world's Happy S. suggested the same thing but Cool S. offered to deal with the situation alone, accepts that working together is the better strategy in this case and agrees.
Sweet S. / 甜心超人

- Green Thumb: She has the ability to control plants.
Smart S. / 花心超人

- Dishing Out Dirt: He has the ability to manipulate earth.
Careless S. / 粗心超人

- Badass Normal: Doesn't display obvious superpowers but can still hold his ground in the final battle against purple Kalo.
- Oh, Crap!: He is the first to notice that purple Kalo cannot be defeated so easily after ancient Smart S. encases the former in rock. He is proven right when purple Kalo breaks free of the trap and begins burning his own energy to try to defeat the heroes once and for all.
- Shock and Awe: Like his main counterpart, Careless S. wields weapons that shoot electricity.
Cool S. / 小心超人

- Alliance of Alternates: Near the end of the movie, when ancient Cool S. finally joins the good guys and helps his counterpart deal with purple Kalo.
- Alternative-Self Name-Change: At first, he is known as Cool Monster due to working for ancient Big M. and Little M., a villain duo.
- Big "SHUT UP!": Keeps telling the main Cool S. to shut up when the latter points out the other's cognitive dissonance in the Heart Demon Valley.
- Don't You Dare Pity Me!: He tells his counterpart to not think that the latter is able to understand him. Ironically, the main Cool S. is much wiser and more mature, and therefore, he does understand what ancient Cool S. is going through.
- Heel–Face Turn: Starts off as a villain, but ultimately joins the superheroes later in the movie.
- Hot-Blooded: At the very least, his temper is worse than his counterpart's. Granted, due to his background, he is not as emotionally mature. The main Cool S. serves as a mentor figure for him.
- An Ice Person: One of his powers is cryokinesis.
- Moral Myopia: Originally works for the villains, but he is much kinder than he lets on. It takes a few encounters with the main universe's Cool S. to steer him in the right direction. The main Cool S. tells him that justice is not split by black and white and that it is up to oneself to determine what is good and evil.
- Newcomer Saves the Day: Saves the other heroes from being obliterated by purple Kalo, later earning himself a spot in the superhero team.
- Redemption Quest: He eventually abandons villainy altogether after meeting his counterpart for the second time in the Heart Demon Valley.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red oni to the main Cool S.'s blue oni.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here!: He quits working for ancient Big M. and Little M. in the middle of the film and starts following his counterpart and ancient Kalo to Pegasus Valley and the Heart Demon Valley.
Big M. / 大大怪 and Little M. / 小小怪 (ancient versions)

Big M. (ancient ver.)

Little M. (ancient ver.)
The parallel versions of Big M. and Little M. and former associates of ancient Cool S. Their mission is to steal the energy core of Planet Adeli.- Butt-Monkey: Like their counterparts, they frequently get into embarrassing and hilarious situations.
- Harmless Villain: They have attempted (and failed) to conquer several planets. They show purple Kalo a list of those failures. Dude is not impressed in the slightest.
Karl / 伽奥 (ancient version)

Ancient Karl and his infant son Kalo
The parallel version of Karl, Kalo's father. He is the God of War of Planet Adeli in the beginning of Multiverse Rescue and a very strict parent. He genuinely loves his son but is not good at expressing this love, hence the strained relationship between the two.- Action Dad: He is the God of War of Planet Adeli in the beginning of the movie.
- Final First Hug: Gives one to Kalo after he is fatally wounded from the final battle, admitting that he is a failure of a father.
- Follow in My Footsteps: Karl wants Kalo to succeed him as the God of War, just like how Karl succeeded his own father.
- Generational Trauma: The reason why Karl pressured Kalo into training to become the next God of War? It's because Karl's own father did the same to Karl himself, having chased Karl with a stick in order to get the latter to obey.
- Patricide: Is the accidental victim of this by the end of the film, due to Kalo not being in control of the power gained from the other Kalos' energy.
- Was Too Hard on Him: Regrets not showing enough affection to Kalo near the end of the film.
