Leon Summers
A happy-go-lucky rookie star ranger who is eager to see the stars and make friends along the way.

- Hates Small Talk: She values her alone time and would rather not open up to others. Needless to say, she really doesn't like small talk. Unfortunately for her, she usually ends up getting paired up with Leon.
- Heroic Neutral: Would prefer not to intervene unless she absolutely has to.

- Improvisational Ingenuity: Mia is good at thinking up quick solutions in a pinch, even though she'd rather have a plan.

- Angst Coma: Has one at the beginning of "The Confession," after Leon called him out for his actions. He shuts down so badly that he doesn't realize when his hands get scalded. He has a brief one when Emil reminds him of his and Leon's conversation in Chapter 8. The way his mother describes his behavior after Leon left in "New Kid on the Ship" could also count as this.
- Apologises a Lot
- Big Brother Worship: Thinks the world of Leon. So much so, that he's willing to protect him from Aiden. When he left, Angelo went through a bad spell of depression.
- Clingy Child: Clings to Leon.
- Dark and Troubled Past: On top of his brother being his only friend, Angelo has dealt with bullying at school and from his grandfather.
- Dude Looks Like a Lady: He's often mistaken for a girl and has trouble fitting in with his peers because of it. Hates this.

- The Paranoiac: A lot of Lorenzo's thoughts are concerned with how other people might be out to get him and his brother. This results in him mistrusting even his own crew, and refusing to get close to anyone outside of Emil and his father.

Claude Vanderbilt

- Always Second Best: Vanderbilt came in second place during the piloting tournament. Because of that, he was assigned to be the captain of the Celestion-6, the second ship destined for Neptune. He's worried that the Celestion-6—and him by extension— will always be stuck in the Celestion-5's shadow.
- Anti-Mentor: He thinks of himself as Lorenzo's mentor, but Lorenzo disagrees.
- Glory Hound
- Implausible Deniability: Denied that the number calling his phone was Shirley's when Lorenzo dialed the number of the person who ordered her to steal.
- Just Giving Orders: Tried to shift the blame onto Shirley and Sparky when they called out his involvement in the plan.
- The Neidermeyer: Even some of his own crew have issues with him.
- The Nicknamer: Usually calls his peers by a shortened version of their name. He calls Lorenzo "Little Cesar" and Emil by his middle name.
- Serial Spouse: Had to count on his fingers to remember which ex-wife he wanted to compare Shirley and Sparky to.
