  • Abusive Parents: His father is cruel and intentionally physically/emotionally abusive towards him since he's "weak".
  • Adorkable: His admiration towards Tempest is almost too cute, as it's pretty obvious that he loves everything about her.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Tempest has a lot of them for him, including "Fluffy One", "Grand Fire Knight", "Grand Sun God", and "Zetsy".
  • Ambiguously Bi: Currently in a relationship with Tempest, but his friendship with Doc is borderline a male version of a Romantic Two-Girl Friendship.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: How could he validate ignoring his girlfriend?
  • Berserk Button: Insulting or disrespecting Tempest or his other friends.
  • Butt-Monkey: Things rarely ever go well for him, and he's usually a punching bag during challenges.
  • The Cynic: Hates his own life quite a bit, and believes that he just makes other people's lives worse. Him beginning a relationship with Tempest has brightened his world quite a bit though.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Was more than accepting of his fate when he was falling to his death in the finale of FMTDI. Luckily, he ultimately survives due to evolving just in time.
  • Heroic BSoD: During "Total Drama Drama Drama Drama Island", he's left believing that Tempest has been killed by the Mega Steelix in front of him. This causes him to talk about how he could never live a real life without her now, and he starts crying on the spot. The only reason he recovers at all is upon The Reveal that she not only survived, but evolved.
    • Similarly, he nearly has a similar breakdown when he believed she had abandoned him in "Full Metal Drama".
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Doc, despite the two initially not getting along at first.
  • It's All About Me: An unintentional example. He actually thinks very little of himself, but he will often think more about how a situation will affect him before anyone else.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While normally at least decent towards others, there are plenty of moments where he's downright disrespectful, especially towards the likes of Gareth, who he can't stand it seems.
  • Kick the Dog: Him lashing out at Nedrick for no reason, before explaining his reasoning as it "just being Nedrick".
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: The feminine boy to Tempest's masculine girl, as he can be rather pathetic at times and rarely does well in fights, at least at first.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After getting beaten down by Izaya and getting told off for his recent treatment of Tempest, he instantly regrets his actions.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: The nice of the group featuring himself, Doc, and Mimi.
  • Official Couple: With Tempest.
  • Only Sane Man: Bar-none the most sane character across the entire series, being firmly grounded to reality and it's many hardships.
  • Strong Girl, Smart Guy: The smart guy to Tempest's strong girl. One of the most mature and educated members of the cast, he has all the gifting of a smart young man, even if he's pretty naive at times.
  • Tsundere: Type A. Usually pretty deadpan and frustrated with the constant insanity surrounding him. However, his love of Tempest always showcases his Adorkable personality.
  • Unlucky Everydude: He's a pretty normal guy most of the time, but he is insanely bad at making sure something horrible doesn't happen to him every moment of the day.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Him blatantly disrespecting Gareth half the time but still expecting some kind of respect in return.
    • Ignoring his own girlfriend due to his own issues.
  • Workaholic: He is devoted to working as much as he can in order to make more than enough money to keep himself going every month.

  • Abusive Parents: Her birth parents abandoned her when she was a baby, forcing her live on the streets and fend for herself.
  • Achilles' Heel: Her own need to be the most powerful being alive has led to her becoming quite stubborn about most things, and it's usually hard for her to accept defeat of any kind, only pushing her harder and causing her to become more sloppy.
  • Action Girl: She is perhaps the most dangerous contestant of Total Drama as a whole.
  • Action Girlfriend: Is far more dangerous and powerful than Zetsu will ever be.
  • Adorkable: Seeing just how nervous she acts about trying to admit her own love for Zetsu early on in FMTDI lead to possibly the cutest scene of the early episodes.
  • Aggressive Submissive: Usually, she's one of the most dangerous and powerful characters in the series. However, if Word of God is to believed, when in bed with Zetsu, she's actually really...Sensitive, and incredibly softspoken as well.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Can't seem to focus on much of anything for too long, usually getting distracted by something she deems as more worth her time. This is actually the very reason she isn't completely overpowered in the contest.
  • Badass Adorable: Zig-Zagged; her actual cute-factor is mostly mixed among the cast(though Zetsu will continue to state that he finds her incredibly adorable), though either way, she's a pretty badass fighter.
  • Berserk Button: A lot of them.
    • Calling her small is pretty dangerous.
    • So is implying she's weak.
    • Mocking her is kinda stupid as well.
    • And God help you if you hurt Zetsu!
  • Breakout Character: Of every member of the cast, she is bar-none the most popular outside of the story's fanbase, even being recognized by those who have never even read the stories.
  • Broken Bird: Her nearly killing Droog after using all of her power against him causes her to realize that she's far too dangerous in her current state, meaning she wants to learn to control her powers.
  • Character Development: At the beginning of the contest she mostly spoke in broken English and wanted to be a monster slayer. By the end of FMTDI, her English is a bit more understandable, and she's swapped her goal to being a defender of the innocent.
  • Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male: She frequently zapped and messed with Zetsu throughout the early episodes of FMTDI, which usually led to his friends teasing him. However, this is ultimately subverted, as upon beginning a relationship with him, she quickly stops hurting him all together and treats any potential chance of doing so to him again as a horrible thing.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Granted, she's never been too much of a villain, but upon realizing how dangerous her powers are, she decides she wants to learn how to control them better so she doesn't hurt others.
  • Heroic Comedic Sociopath: Really likes blowing stuff up, and is rather destructive as a whole. Inverted later on, as she learns how dangerous this truly makes her, and thus decides she wants to learn how to control her powers.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Sure, she's pretty off-putting and aggressive, but that doesn't really change the fact that she has good intentions, and over the course of the show, gradually becomes more friendly and caring.
  • Literal-Minded: Dumb enough to believe that things must be seen and handled as how they seem.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: Acts as one for Zetsu, who fully admits that now, he can see himself living a normal life without her.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: She's the masculine girl to Zetsu's feminine boy, with her easily being the strongest character in the series.
  • Meaningful Name: "Tempest" means "turbulent, stormy", hinting at her strong electric prowess.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Really doesn't take it well when her powers cause Droog to get pretty badly injured.
  • Nature Lover: Spends almost all of her time out in the forest, mostly because they greatly aid her powers in their effectiveness.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: She begins acting incredibly moody and depressed when Zetsu starts ignoring her. They eventually make up.
  • Official Couple: With Zetsu.
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: Bar-none the shortest contestant in the series, and also easily the strongest in terms of raw power.
    • Downplayed as of "Total Drama Drama Drama Drama Island", as she has grown significantly larger since evolving. Despite this though, she is still one of the shortest contestants, just not the shortest anymore.]]
  • Sore Loser: Initially couldn't stand losing, but thanks to Character Development, she began to grow out of it slowly over time.
  • Story-Breaker Power: Her incredible strength and overwhelming electrical power is seen as possibly the most destructive force in the entire series. However, ultimately, she began to feel like this was a bad thing, wanting to control this power of hers to not hurt someone.
  • Strong Girl, Smart Guy: The strong girl to Zetsu's smart guy. She's bar-none the strongest member of the cast overall, so really, little needs to be explained here.
  • Tomboy: Certainly doesn't act too girly to say the least.
  • Tsundere: Type A. She's usually pretty aggressive and terrifying, but her softer side is occasionally showcased through her love for Zetsu.
  • Unstoppable Rage: When truly angered, she becomes nigh-unstoppable and a danger to everyone around her. The only catch is that she doesn't want to be this anymore.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Considering she holds Zetsu as someone more important than her, she'll fight to the bitter end to keep him safe.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Losing her temper again and nearly killing Droog because of it.

  • Adorkable: Seeing how much he genuinely seems to love building objects of rather deranged terror is surprisingly charming in a way.
  • Affably Evil: Can come across as a downright nice guy, but in his own words, that doesn't make him better than his actions.
  • Berserk Button: Not giving Mimi any respect can lead to rather...Disastrous consequences, in the form of basically losing all control over all 108 souls in his body...All of which are pure evil.
  • Brutal Honesty: While he may be a jerk, he's certainly no liar, and is cruelly honest about everything he truly is.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Openly talks about how terrible of a person he is.
  • Casting a Shadow: While it's not entirely confirmed whether or not they're actually shadows, Doc's body seems to grow in mass over controlling them, and he uses Shadow Ball frequently as a move.
  • The Cynic: Has a rather low opinion of people in general, and doesn't think much higher of the world itself either.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: While he would claim otherwise, he's honestly not that bad of a guy at times.
  • Expy: Of a lot of characters, including Deadpool.
  • Freaky Is Cool: Is one of the few people in the series to actually admire Mimi's personality for what it is; that of an antisocial girl made out of deadly shadows.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Is capable of building incredible devices and even entire bikes out of nothing but scrap metal and garbage.
  • Heroic Comedic Sociopath: Takes a rather large amount of entertainment out of watching other people's suffering, and their reactions to his strange personality only add flame to the fire.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Zetsu, to a point where he admits he's the only other person he cares about besides Mimi.
  • It Amused Me: Only ever does anything because it amuses him to a degree.
  • Jerkass: Possibly one of the biggest on the show, actively making other people's lives more inconvenient just because he can.
    • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite this, he is capable of feeling bad for his actions and will try to make up for his mistakes.
  • Kick the Dog: Tearing off Mimi's hood without her permission can be compared to exposing her naked body on television, just so his team can win the challenge. Sure, he feels bad for it immediately after, but it doesn't change how scummy that was.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Will occasionally reference the fact he's on a TV show while most just ignore the cameras, and will even sometimes joke about how they're all fictional characters.
  • Made of Evil: He's quite literally made up of over a hundred evil souls of former murderers, dictators, sociopaths, and more. He's able to control them quite a bit, but when he doesn't...
  • Mayfly–December Romance: In a relationship with the 1,400 year old Mimi, while he's over 160,003 years old.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: He really did regret his actions towards Mimi, and has never truly forgiven himself for it.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: The mean among him, Mimi, and Zetsu.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Actually finds the fact that Mimi is made out of shadows so deadly they can kill people to be oddly attractive.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Whenever anyone threatens or insults Mimi, or does anything he sees as antagonizing towards her, he becomes violent and grows to an abnormal size. When in this form, he essentially becomes the biggest threat in terms of everyone's safety.
  • Official Couple: With Mimi.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Word of God has confirmed him as being 160,003 years old, though he believes he's only around 16 or so.
  • Rebellious Spirit: Does not do well with authority, and will actively go against it just because he can, and also because it's fun of course.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Or at least it's heavily implied, cause the camera cuts away every chance it can from him whenever he's about to swear.
  • Troll: His favorite activity is to mess with people's heads in any way he possibly can, and will usually go above and beyond in order to get the reactions he wants.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Not a hero by any means, but tearing off Mimi's cloth was just straight-up uncalled for and horrible, even for him.

  • Adorkable: While she may be pretty antisocial, whenever she actually finds herself falling into Doc's usual activities, it becomes downright adorable how much he's influenced her.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Doc occasionally refers to her as "Princess of the Night".
  • The Aloner: Prior to FMTDI, she spent most of her time alone and didn't make any effort to actually form any kind of real bond with others.
  • Arch-Enemy: Violet, who she commonly gets into major fights with for minimal reason. They end up making amends in "One Flu Over the Cuckoos".
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Why does she think she's any better than anyone else when she pulls exactly what they do every day?
  • Bad Liar: Whenever she's dealing with a problem that she's trying to keep a secret, she...Makes the issue very obvious.
    • When she formed a crush on Doc, most of the team found out within days simply because she can't keep a secret.
  • Broken Bird: Learning just how hypocritical she truly is has caused herself to decide that she's far worse than anyone else in the cast, completely undeserving of the love Doc or her friends give her.
  • Brutal Honesty: She lacks the ability to truly hold back her true feelings from anyone.
  • Casting a Shadow: Her body is made out of shadows, so her control over them is pretty obvious.
  • The Cynic: Thinks that most people are detestable and rude, mostly due to a history of them treating her poorly.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Considering she is quite literally made out of some kind of shadowy mass, she's actually far less antagonistic than you would initially believe.
  • Expy: Has been compared to Gwen from Total Drama.
  • Freakiness Shame: Has very low self-esteem due to a belief that she's an ugly freak, most likely coming from the fact she's essentially made out of shadows so deadly they'd kill a normal person.
  • Heroic BSoD: Nearly has a mental breakdown when Doc removed her cloth.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold
  • Mayfly–December Romance: In a relationship with the 160,003 year old Doc, while she's 1,400 or so years old.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: The In-Between among herself, Doc, and Zetsu.
  • Official Couple: With Doc.
  • Only Sane Woman: Probably one of the most sane contestants across the entire series, though her own lack of self-esteem seems to stop this from being too obvious sometimes, and occasionally she'll join in on the antics of Doc.
  • Perpetual Frowner: ...Kinda, since it's not like we can see her expression from under her cloak.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Word of God has confirmed her as being 1,400+ years old.
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: Can actually be pretty snarky and cruel at times, though it's mostly to push others away from her due to her depression.
  • Tsundere: Type A, though downplayed. She's usually pretty deadpan and harsh towards most people, though she can occasionally show a sweet side towards those she cares about, usually around Doc.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Her hypocritical judging of everyone around her could be seen as such.

  • Abusive Parents: Her father is horrible towards her, commonly hitting, manipulating, and using her in order to ensure that she acts as his "perfect little girl", essentially turning her into his puppet so she doesn't make a fool out of him and his business. This has left her with a large amount of trauma, causing her to believe she must be perfect in order to avoid for pain by his hand.
  • Action Girl: Zig-Zagged, as while she can be pretty tough when she wants to, she certainly isn't all the violent and prefers avoiding it if possible.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Nazira and later Nedrick will sometimes shorten her name down to "Cyn".
  • Anti-Hero: She's a genuinely polite and very caring person who clearly does most things with good intentions, but she is often prone to corruption or becoming so competitive that she'll begin to hurt those around her without even trying to.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Why is she in love with Nazira?
  • Big Bad: The main antagonist of FMTDI as a whole.
  • Bi the Way: Ultimately realizes that she's fallen in love with her best friend, Nazira. However, as the story goes on, it becomes pretty clear that she was probably never into guys in the first place.
  • Broken Bird: A compulsive need to be perfect, brought about by years of abuse from her father have left her incapable of achieving what she wishes to be.
  • Butt-Monkey: Life in general seems to love shitting on her parade, usually making things unintentionally difficult and frustrating for her.
  • Closet Key: Nazira ends up being her's.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: Downplayed, but she can be a bit of a klutz whenever she gets overly distracted.
  • Fatal Flaw: She has two; her need to be perfect, and her tendency to rush into things emotionally, causing her to make mistakes easily. Both have caused her quite a few issues to say the least.
  • Forceful Kiss: Forcefully kisses Nazira in a moment of weakness...
    • Heroic BSoD: Which ruins their friendship and spirals her into a depression.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Far more girly than Nazira to say the least.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Her forcefully kissing Nazira ends up ruining their friendship, distracting her enough that she completely fails the challenge.
  • Nice Girl: She certainly tries to be one, but her most persistent flaws often cause this to be an issue.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: The inbetween among herself, Nazira, and Nedrick.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: Later on, she forms a similar relationship with Chad upon realizing she didn't have feelings for him anymore, with the two becoming close friends instead.
  • Straight Gay: Not even she was able to figure out she swung the other way until Nazira kissed her.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Her growing too competitive during the series and letting the game control her.

  • Action Girl: Is more than fine with getting her hands a little dirty in terms of combat if it means she can get what she wants in the end.
  • Action Girlfriend: Mess with Nedrick in any way, and she'll likely kick your ass in under ten seconds.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Heavily implied to be a black girl of Jamaican origins.
  • Berserk Button: Pushing around those weaker than you is an easy way to make her an enemy.
  • Bi the Way: Didn't make too big of a deal out of having to kiss Cynthia, and has also been confirmed as bisexual by the creators.
  • Brutal Honesty: She doesn't hold back her thoughts from much of anyone, instead preferring to be completely honest with them.
  • Cool Big Sis: Acts as a sisterly figure to Bari throughout the series, acting as a protective force for him and keeping him as happy as she can.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: She's rather antagonistic at times, has the appearance of a witch, is a deep purple color, and a ghost...She's also debatabely one of the most sane and morally competent characters in the series.
  • Expy: Can come across as one for Leshawna.
  • Forceful Kiss: Forcefully kissed by Cynthia in a moment of weakness, which ends up ruining their friendship.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Sure, at times she can be pretty rude and sarcastic, but she has a big heart, always tries to make up for her mistakes, and can often act as something of a big sister figure.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: The masculine girl to Nedrick's feminine boy, with her being the more violent and aggressive of the two.
  • The Masochism Tango: Very downplayed towards Nedrick, as it's made rather clear the two just like the mess with each other and regardless respect one another a lot.
  • Mayfly–December Romance: In a relationship with the 19-year old Nedrick, while she's over 12,000 years old.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: The mean between herself, Cynthia, and Nedrick.
  • Official Couple: With Nedrick.
  • Strong Girl, Smart Guy: The strong girl to Nedrick's smart guy. She's perhaps one of the strongest members of the overall cast, and she's certainly no slouch in terms of fighting style.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Word of God has confirmed her as being 12,000+ years old.
  • Sassy Black Woman: Possibly one of the most sarcastic and lovably crass contestants of the series.
  • Team Mom: Always looks after her teammates, and acts as a sisterly-figure for the weaker contestants in the game.
  • Tomboy: Possibly the least feminine competitor in the entire competition.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Hurting Nedrick is a quick way to piss her the hell off.

  • Adorkable: Possibly one of the most charmingly dorky people you could ever meet.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Some of his closer friends call him a shortened "Ned".
  • Berserk Button: Harassing or insulting women of any kind.
  • Butt-Monkey: Is the most frequent pain magnet in the entire series.
  • Dork Knight: An incredibly dorky, but still good-hearted individual that has all the makings of becoming The Hero...Too bad he sucks at that.
  • Expy: His elimination and some of his personality are very similar to Cody.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Alfred, as the two continued to hang out regularly outside of the competition.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: The feminine boy to Nazira's masculine girl, mostly being a pacifist who abhors violence.
  • The Masochism Tango: Very downplayed towards Nazira, as it's made rather clear the two just like the mess with each other and regardless respect one another a lot.
  • Mayfly–December Romance: In a relationship with the 12,000 year old Nazira, while he's 19-years old.
  • Nice Guy: In fact, he's practically well-known among the cast for being the most openly friendly contestant overall.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: The nice between himself, Cynthia, and Nazira.
  • Official Couple: With Nazira.
  • The Pollyanna: Frequently both the happiest and most friendly person in the room.

The Milkshake Pals

    Gareth

Gareth Gein

"TBA"
TBA

TBA

  • Abusive Parents: His father walked out on him when he was younger after he started acting differently from how Gein used to act, and his mother has mentally blamed him for this and thus has become very neglectful of him.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Why does he love Violet?
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Will frequently get distracted from what he was originally doing, often at the worst possible time.
  • Berserk Button: Saying that Violet isn't pretty or is a freak is a quick way to end up on his bad side these days.
  • Brainless Beauty: Is referred to as a beautiful person multiple times throughout the series, and certainly isn't all that bright.
  • The Ditz: Perhaps one of the most dimwitted characters of the series, and often makes rather ridiculous choices at the worst of times.
  • Dumb Is Good: Both one of the dumbest and kindest people you could ever meet.
  • The Hero: Built up as The Protagonist throughout a majority of the series, often being thrown into horrible situations and barely escaping them with his luck, and it only helps that he's one of the nicest guys in the series as well. However, by the end of FMTDI, it's made pretty clear that this is an inversion of the trope, as he's actually just as broken as the rest of the cast, and has done some pretty bad things himself. Not to mention, he constantly fails to actually do anything with his luck to help much of anyone.
  • It's All About Me: As revealed during the storyline with Gein, it becomes fairly obvious that Gareth was determined to keep his life, regardless of how it was affecting Gein.
  • Kindhearted Simpleton: He'll begrudgingly admit that he certainly isn't that bright, but that doesn't change the fact that he's possibly the kindest character in the series.
    • However, as the series has gone on, this has become a lot darker than initially believed, considering his lack of intelligence is almost entirely down to the fact his mother couldn't afford giving him a real education, and his kindness is almost entirely due to him forcing himself to act as such. Despite this though, he still is a good guy at heart.
  • Lovable Jock: One of the strongest and most athletic contestants, and also easily one of the nicest.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Slowly begins to realize his actions towards Gein make him no better than him, and even prepares to willingly give his life up so Gein can start over.
  • Nice Guy: Rarely does anything intentionally malicious or rude towards much of anyone, instead focusing most of his energy on trying to be kind.
  • Only Child Syndrome: Is constantly hinted to have never had any kind of sibling, or even anyone who acted as a substitute for one.
  • Parental Neglect: After his father left them, his mother grew increasingly more depressed and basically neglected all of her responsibilities as a parent.
  • Pretty Boy: Described as particularly good looking and rather adorable by the rest of the cast, and he even gets a job of a sort as a model in the FMTDI finale through Amber.
  • Official Couple: With Violet.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Gein gives him a brutal "The Reason You Suck" Speech about how awful it was of him to steal away his life, while claiming to be a good person.

  • Berserk Button: While he won't admit it anytime soon, someone messing with Gareth leads to him quickly becoming protective.
  • Butt-Monkey: The guy has not delt with his life easily, or in this case, his lack of a real one. The guy has his childhood taken from him by Gareth, spends over 14 years trapped in said head trying to take control again, only to realize Gareth has lived a better life than he ever would have, before beginning to contemplate letting himself fade from his mind entirely and only being stopped by the idea of sharing the body coming into affect, and most recently, while in control he got hurt badly enough to actually fade away for awhile. It's actually tragic how much he goes through.
  • The Cynic: Naturally thinks of others rather poorly, and seems to detest life in general. This is part of the reason he ultimately decides he'd prefer Gareth remain in primary control of their body, as he knows he won't do much in a life he hates.
  • Expy: Is very clearly based off Mal, though with a twist on the role to make him more interesting.
  • It's All About Me: Similar to Gareth, he's very self-centered about wanting a life regardless of how Gareth feels.
  • Jerkass: Comes across as horribly rude and snarky towards just about anyone who tests his patience long enough.
    • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: As the series continues and his motivations are better explained, we slowly are shown a side of him that not only doesn't dislike Gareth, but genuinely seems to hold a lot of care for him. And by the FMTDI finale, the two have decided to attempt co-existing with one another out of mutual respect.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Is never seen without a permanent scowl.
  • Tsundere: Type A. While normally hostile and rude towards Gareth, he'll occasionally show a softer side towards him.
  • Walking Spoiler: Do we even need to explain?

    Violet

Violet Caputo

TBA

  • Action Girlfriend: Downplayed, but she is far more willing to begin a violent confrontation than her boyfriend.
  • Adorkable: What happens after Gareth admits his feelings for her? ...She lets out a scream of surprise before fainting backwards.
  • Arch-Enemy: Violet, who she commonly gets into major fights with for minimal reason. [[spoiler:They end up making amends in "One Flu Over the Cuckoos".]
  • Asexuality: Despite being in a relationship with Gareth, she showcases very little interest in actual romance, mostly just going about her days not paying it any mind, though she has no doubt in mind that she genuinely does love Gareth, even if not sexually.
  • Berserk Button: Mistreating or abusing Gareth in any way is very dangerous.
  • The Cynic: To her, life is just about "living" and then "dying".
  • Brutal Honesty: She lacks any of the subtlety that allows her to even contemplate holding back her true feelings from someone.
  • Emotionless Girl: After evolving, she gradually goes from experiencing too much emotion to basically experiencing nearly none at all. By the time of FMTDA, it's gotten to the point of Flanderization.
    • Turns out this is almost entirely due to her simply being unable to control her emotions much at all by this point. It's gotten so hard for her that now she has a hard time figuring out when this trope will become abruptly inverted and cause her to have an emotional outburst.
  • Expy: Very similar to both Gwen and Noah.
  • Freakiness Shame: Has begun to think very little of herself due to her lack of emotional control.
  • Literal-Minded: Sometimes, her lack of real emotional control leads her to be unable to recognize a joke as...Well, a joke.
  • Official Couple: With Gareth.
  • Only Sane Woman: Usually acts as a voice of reason of sorts, keeping Gareth and Juvia from going too off the wall in terms of their antics.
  • Parental Neglect: Was abandoned by her foster parents early in her life, and we never even learn about her actual parents.
  • Perpetual Frowner: It's rare to ever see her not scowling, or at the very least not emotionless in appearance.
  • The Stoic: Hard to get a read on someone who barely expresses her thoughts at all.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Mess with Gareth, and good luck moving the next morning, because it's likely she had already broken your legs.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: While not truly a hero, her basically breaking Mimi emotionally really was uncalled for in a lot of ways.]]

  • Action Girl: By the time of FMTDA, she has fully realized her ghost powers, and now uses them to take advantage of her foes through throwing them around like ragdolls.
  • Adorkable: Her consistent curiosity about the world around her and learning so much about it is one of the sweetest parts of the series.
  • Amnesiac Hero: Word of God has confirmed that prior to FMTDI, she had gone through a case of amnesia that has left most of her life prior to meeting Izaya a complete blur.
  • Badass Adorable: She's bar-none one of the most adorable characters in the entire series. She's also learned how to effectively kick your ass not that she's mastered her powers.
  • Berserk Button: Izaya ignoring her requests to act kinder towards her friends.
  • Cute Ghost Girl: Unlike the rest of the ghosts in the series, she is consistently Adorkable and friendly towards just about everyone.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: She's a ghost with powers involving that of ghostly energy, and yet also one of the kindest people in the series.
  • Genki Girl: Endlessly full of energy and is always more than willing to help out a friend in need.
  • Mayfly–December Romance: Is in a relationship with Izaya, who is roughly around 20 years old, while she's 200+ years old.
  • Nice Girl: One of, if not the nicest female character on the show.

Kanaya Wells

  • Adorkable: Her love of shipping others and the excitement she constantly feels when she believes they're going to get together is possibly one of the most innocent and precious things you could ever see in the series.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Why would she abandon the challenge and her duties in order to watch a "potential ship"?
  • Bad Liar: Simply fails to keep a straight face when attempting to keep a secret from others, usually panicking in the process.
  • Broken Bird: Her need to see others happy is almost entirely because she has rarely felt so herself, due to a lack of family or friends in her actual life.
  • Butt-Monkey: Is commonly and frequently embarrassed by her friends due to her many odd habits, leading to consistent moments of her feeling dumb about random things.
  • Covert Pervert: Seems to be unusually...Into how other couples act around each other...Alone.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: To say she's a total klutz would certainly be under-exaggerating things to say the least, but it's hard to not find these moments of clumsiness absolutely adorable.
  • Literal-Minded: Her more naive moments portray her as taking clever wording just a little too seriously.
  • Official Couple: With Isabel.
  • Only Child Syndrome: She says she has no family left, and while it's hard to say whether this means she had siblings her dead or missing now or never had them at all, Word of God later went on to confirm she never had any.
  • Shipper on Deck: She loves to find potential pairings within groups of people, and the odd part is that half the time, she'll either be accurate on who gets together, or who will have interests in one another.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • Abandoning her team during the camping challenge in order to spy on a potential romance in the making is no excuse for her blatant lack of respect to her teammates.
    • Kissing Isabel while she was sleeping was horrible of her, regardless of if they were gonna die or not.

  • Abusive Parents: Her mother was revealed to have abandoned her when she was eight-years old, and hasn't kept up any form of contact with her or her father.
  • Action Girl: Will do anything in order to assure herself and her closest friends victory, including getting into a few fights or dealing with whatever comes her way.
  • Action Girlfriend: Sees no issue in dealing with a conflict most of the time, unlike Kanaya.
  • Adorkable: When she realizes she can use FMTDA as a chance to get her name out there as a potential star, she becomes downright giddy with excitement.
  • Berserk Button: Somebody not standing by their promises.
    • Betrayal of any kind as well.
  • Broken Bird: The belief that she drove her mother away has caused her to believe that the only way to get her back into her life is to make her proud by doing something with herself, leading her to want to follow in her dad's footsteps any way she can, thinking accomplishing what he couldn't would do exactly that.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: By the midpoint of FMTDI, Kanaya had developed a crush on her, and some of the other girls have admitted to being slightly attracted to her.
  • Heroic Willpower: It doesn't matter what her or her team are going through at any given moment, as in the end, she'll force herself through it without any complaints.
  • Tsundere: Type B. She;s usually kind and thoughtful towards others, but push her enough, and she becomes hostile, determined, and downright dangerous.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Do not push around Kanaya, for your own sake.

  • Big Eater: Can eat an entire buffet of food by himself and still be hungry. Justified in that he has barely ever gotten a real chance to eat half the time, thus meaning he's more or less trying to make the best of a good situation.
  • Butt-Monkey: Became an instant outcast at the beginning of the series due to his stench, and as the series continues, he has to deal with things such as conflicting loyalties, not being able to stand up for himself, and just a lot of pain in general.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He's a wolf that's seen as having a species considered to be the more "evil" half of his breed, and yet he's bar-none one of the most lovable characters in the series.
  • Expy: Very clearly has received at least a little inspiration from Total Drama, considering Bari shares his Big Eater habits, his status as a fan-favorite, and his positive personality. Oh, and they both get their jaws broken.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: The nice of The "Friends", being undyingly loyal and kind to just about everyone around him.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When his loyalties start becoming conflicted between Cynthia and his other friends, he begins to act more down in the dumps more frequently.

  • Abusive Parents: His father is neglectful of him and his brothers, giving them no attention unless they proved themselves as "champions".
  • Berserk Button: Sadly, just about anything could apply, but probably his most frequent one is insulting his intelligence or his strength.
  • Broken Bird: Bari standing up to him and calling him out on everything he's done has caused him to realize just how horrible of a person he truly is. This destroys him during his entire stay at Playa De Losers, and even after getting Bari's forgiveness, he still feels like a terrible guy since he's making no progress to becoming a better person, at least in his eyes.
  • Butt-Monkey: Gets hurt a lot, though most of the time, he does deserve it.
  • It's All About Me: Pays little to no intention to how his horrible attitude affects those around him.
  • Jerkass Ball: A major part of his personality is that no matter how hard he tries, if he gets too comfortable with a situation, he'll instantly become just as much of a Jerkass as he was on the first day someone meets him.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: The mean of "The Friends", having crippling anger issues and a tendency to turn into a major Jerkass at times where he feels comfortable.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Acts very depressed during his entire stay at Playa De Losers, mostly on account of Bari standing up to him actually affecting him quite a bit.
  • Sore Loser: Whenever his team loses a challenge, he'd get madder and madder and blame everyone around him.
    • Upon getting voted off, he quickly becomes furious and starts screaming at his entire team, and nearly punches Quincy in the face when he stands up to him...And then Brick got punched by Bari, leading him to simply go quiet.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Breaking his promise to become a better person during FMTDI.

  • Berserk Button: Not being a "bro" towards him.
  • Expy: While minor, he shares a lot of similarities with Tyler of Total Drama, including their status as lovable jocks, hi
  • It's All About Me: Downplayed during FMTDI, where he'll actually think about others just as much as himself(which was a lot), but given a bit more attention during FMTDA, where it's played up more.
  • Literal-Minded: At times comes across as dumb enough to not realize something is meant to be taken as a joke, and not completely seriously.
  • Lovable Jock: One of the most athletic and powerful contestants of the series, and possibly the most likable badass you'll ever meet in your life.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Alia calls him "Ben" or "Benny" sometimes.
  • Butt-Monkey: Got hurt a lot during FMTDI. Inverted by the time of FMTDA though.
  • It's All About Me: During FMTDI, he acts as if the entire world revolves around him. The finale confirms that this had all just been an act though.
  • Kick the Dog: Regardless of him just playing a role, it was still a dick move to leave Alia dangling over the side of a mountain, as it could still have led to serious injury.
  • Master Actor: He isn't lying when he says he's a naturally gifted man in the ways of acting out any role he so chooses, which he is effectively able to demonstrate across the entirety of FMTDI, where he effectively portrayed himself as an egotistical asshole in an attempt to be a memorable early boot.
  • Only Sane Man: His true personality is one of an average, sane guy who thinks about things rationally and normally.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: With Benson, who don't make it much of a secret that they hate each other. Downplayed later on when Benson reveals he does have some talent and isn't just an egotistical ass, and completely Inverted once the two have a heart to heart conversation.

  • Armor-Piercing Question:
    • How could he treat others so horribly, and does he treat his actual friends and family that way?
    • Why would he pushed Freya out of a plane after all they've been through?
    • Why does he hate Chad so much?
  • Berserk Button: His intellect being insulted in any way or others not respecting him.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Began the series as the downright tyrannical and incredibly cruel leader of The Brainy Baltoy, who was quickly set up as a major antagonist. Within three episodes, he was eliminated for this exact behavior.
  • Brutal Honesty: Despite the fact he can't accept the truth himself, he seems to have no issue dealing it out towards others.
  • Butt-Monkey: Frequently disrespected and insulted by his peers for his ego and rude personality, leading to a lot of moments where he's used as the punchline.
  • Covert Pervert: Seems to have no problem with the fact that Alfred keeps a Porn Stash, hinting that he keeps one himself.
  • The Cynic: Has grown to detest a lot of his own life, whether it be due to his terrible luck, or the fact that others seem to have it so much better than him.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: He's the responsible sibling to his sister's foolish sibling.
  • It's All About Me: Rarely if ever seems to think too much about others, besides perhaps his sister, Alfred, and maybe Freya.
  • Official Couple: Formerly was one with Freya.
  • Offscreen Breakup: It's revealed during "Total Drama Drama Drama Drama Island" that Ace and Freya had begun to date after FMTDI, but have broken up by the time of the special.
  • Only Sane Man: Inverted; He tries to be this, but over time, it's revealed that he isn't as right in terms of sanity as he likes to think.
  • Sore Loser: Losing is usually a quick way to make him more of a dick than usual.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Did he seriously just push his girlfriend out of a plane? Fake or not, that's horrible.

  • Abusive Parents: Her parents don't seem to care too much about her or pay her much attention.
  • Action Girl: Or at least, she tries to be one, but most of the time, no matter how hard she tries, she seems incapable of actually proving herself as a good fighter.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Why did she think injuring Gareth to win the challenge could possibly be worth it?
  • Berserk Button: Losing anything pisses her off, and even the idea of losing can cause a painful aftershock as well.
  • Broken Bird: Her attacking Juvia, Bari's injury, and her attacking someone just to win a challenge has made her believe that she's a horrible, nearly irredeemable person...But that won't stop her from at least trying to change.
  • The Cynic: Has grown to hate her life quite a bit thanks to both the show and a miserable home life.
  • It's All About Me: Decides to not pay others too much attention, instead focusing on her own goals and issues.
  • Jerkass: Possibly one of the rudest contestants of the entire series, and has some of the least Pet the Dog moments.
  • Only Child Syndrome: The special more or less confirmed her parents didn't care enough to have other children since they already pay Sage so little attention to begin with.
  • Sore Loser: Can't stand losing in any way, leading her to often doing risky or downright ridiculous things in order avoid it.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Throwing a rock at Gareth near the end of a challenge just to secure her own team's victory.

    Freya

  • Berserk Button: Not being listened to.
    • As of FMTDA, being ignored also doesn't help.
  • Broken Bird: The realization that nobody cares about her, seemingly including her ex-boyfriend, has left her powerless and in need of some control over her life.
  • Official Couple: Formerly was one with Ace.
  • Offscreen Breakup: It's revealed during "Total Drama Drama Drama Drama Island" that Ace and Freya had begun to date after FMTDI, but have broken up by the time of the special.
  • Only Sane Woman: Tries to be one, but sadly, most people pretty much ignore her.
  • Quest for Identity: By the time of FMTDA, she has realized just how little people think of her, leading her to form a goal of wanting to become a stronger and more notable person to finally gain their respect.
  • The Quiet One: Usually doesn't say too much herself, though this is mostly on account of rarely getting a chance to do so. By the time of FMTDA though, she had grown sick of this, and is now actively attempting to speak up for herself.

  • Abusive Parents: Inverted; they may be strict, but they certainly aren't abusive on any level.
  • Adorkable: Heavily downplayed, but it's pretty undeniable that she can act kinda cute whenever someone does anything that goes beyond her expectations, and her odd happiness with doing bizarre tasks out of curiosity alone certainly helps.
  • Berserk Button: Disrespecting anyone she cares about.
  • Brutal Honesty: If she has something on her mind, it's likely that she'll say it.
  • The Cynic: Certainly comes across as someone who dislikes people in general, commonly stating just how stupid they truly are.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Possibly the most scathingly sarcastic character in the entire series.

  • Abusive Parents: Word of God has confirmed that his parents are horrible towards him and have tried turning him into their enforcer multiple times.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: How does it feel to be hated by so much of the cast?
  • Break Them by Talking: Droog essentially destroys him by bringing up just how hated he is by the rest of the cast and that he's the "bad guy", and that this is the reason his boyfriend dumped him, causing Kaden to have an emotional breakdown...Before going silent.
  • Broken Bird: His boyfriend breaking up with him has completely destroyed him emotionally.
  • Butt-Monkey: Beaten down by those around him commonly, and is later mentally destroyed by Droog.
  • The Cynic: After his failure on the show and losing his boyfriend, he essentially lost any faith that things would get better for him.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Inverted, considering he's a perverted and despicable person, at least until FMTDA went on to expand on his sympathetic qualities and proved he isn't as bad as he seems.
  • Depraved Homosexual: Began to the series as possibly the most disgusting example you could find in a mostly appropriate series, [[spoiler:though this has all but disappeared by FMTDA.
  • Hate Sink: Rather perverted and unintentionally cruel to most cute men he meets, which quickly led to him becoming despised by the rest of the cast, and the readers, alike.
    • However, as FMTDA progressed, this was slowly inverted, as he slowly lost any and all of his previous perversions and revealed a far more sympathetic personality.
  • It's All About Me: Seems to only think about himself. That is, until FMTDA proved that he can actually be quite supporting towards others while they deal with grief.
  • Sore Loser: To say he ultimately didn't take being the first boot well would be an understatement.

  • Abusive Parents: His parents don't pay too much attention to him or anything he does, simply seeing him as a disappointment.
  • Adorkable: Constantly makes references to mostly unknown or unpopular media that often gets him a series of weird looks, but seeing just how passionate he is about said media is precious.
  • Agent Mulder: While mostly implied, it's heavily believed he'll believe just about any urban legend you'll tell him if it has any kind of evidence(no matter how fake it is).

  • Abusive Parents: Inverted; they're actually decent enough people despite how Alia makes them out, though they are pretty strict and enforce their punishments very clearly.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Gets easily distracted by relatively minor things, which she openly admits to.
  • Berserk Button: Not being respected over her musical profession.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Well, less a jerk really, but she's still a pretty selfish person at times, and clearly doesn't think too highly of much of anyone she considers an authority figure.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Upon realizing her parents care about her a lot more than she thought, she realizes just how horribly she's treated them. To make up for it, she sings a song as an apology to her mother in "Not Quite Famous".
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Downplayed, but her legitimately seeming less energetic than usual shows that she was genuine about feeling bad for how she treated her parents.
  • The Quincy Punk: A direct Expy of the types of punks who disobey and go against their parents.
  • Reality Ensues: Regardless of her apologizing to them, her parents would obviously still punish her for running off with their credit cards.
  • Ship Tease: Begins receiving a lot of this with Benson later on, with Sage even stating that she's certain they have a thing for each other.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: With Benson, who don't make it much of a secret that they hate each other. Downplayed later on when Benson reveals he does have some talent and isn't just an egotistical ass, and completely Inverted once the two have a heart to heart conversation.
  • Tomboy: Lacks stereotypical feminine qualities, and has a passion for death metal music.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Not listening to the very clear instructions given to her by Brooke and Quincy.
