* AnimationBump: She and Jeanne Alter received sprite and animation updates with the release of "Ordeal Call II". Notably, they were the first animation updates that the game had received in two whole years.

First introduced in "Parting Memory Manifestation Realms, Traum" as a Servant accompanying Constantine XI, she made her gameplay debut as a Ruler class Servant for the Valentines 2023 event.

* AntiVillain: She's only really a threat in "Parting Memories' Manifestation Realm, Traum" because otherwise she wouldn't exist in Proper Human History. Constantine is the primary person pushing for her to be able to be a proper Servant, and she's an ActualPacifist.

* CessationOfExistence: "Parting Memories' Manifestation Realm, Traum" states that due to being the UnPerson in history, Johanna is unable to be summoned in Proper Human History, a fact that motivates Constantine to fight on her behalf. This means that should the Singularity be destroyed, Johanna effectively ceases to exist as a Servant on account of not existing in the Throne of Heroes. Thankfully, the events of Traum and the FATE system allow her to be summoned as a Servant once again, this time in Chaldea.

** During the course of "Parting Memory Manifestation Realms, Traum" Moriarty intends to take over Chaldea by force, while Johanna is a NonActionGuy that at most only supports Constantine's army with prayers.

* ThereCanOnlyBeOne: Part of the reason they rule their Lostbelt with an iron fist is because they views themself as the only "true human". Nobody can be as smart, sophisticated, or learn as much as they can. If people even begin trying to take the first steps, which can be anything from making philosophies that go against what they like or even making a writing system, they kill them and everyone they might've passed on their ideals to. Even when they consider Akuta Hinako (aka Yu Mei-ren) a being like himself, he notes that he would've tried killing her if she so much as had any interest in protecting the Lostbelt, as it would mean he's not the only True Human in existence and would need to kill her to keep his title.

* TooImportantToWalk: And eventually, to float, as he defaults to just teleporting anywhere he wants to go once he reaches his third Ascension.

** Nasu himself explained in his blog that the Caren in ''Fate/hollow ataraxia'' and this Caren are a little bit different thus she doesn't [[spoiler:seemingly]] recognize Aŋra Mainiiu, [[spoiler:As it turns out, Caren here is not at all Caren from ''Fate/hollow ataraxia'' and instead is Caren from ''Fate/Tiger colosseum''.]]

** Even after her identity is fully outed, however, Caren still keeps the bag mask to the point she spends most of the sixth and very next Valentines' event wearing it seemingly for no other reason than [[ItAmusedMe personal entertainment]]. If she needs to show emotion while wearing it, the bag gains doodles to make cartoon faces matching her current mood. She admits she did it for laughs at first, but then kept it up to hide her identity from Mannann, who had access to Bazett's memory of her.
* TheCameo: Caren-chan, her baby self from ''VideoGame/CapsuleServant'' has a chance of appearing in her NP animation and skill animation and [[spoiler:is her [[OneWingedAngel final boss form]] in her Valentine's Event as "Supew Baby Cawen".]] It also makes an apperance in the following Valentines event

* AmbiguousSituation: Does she or does she not remember Aŋra Mainiiu? Nasu specifically requested that voice lines related to him be omitted [[spoiler:due to this Caren being from ''Fate/Tiger colosseum'']] but Kirei's Valentines scene appear to indicate she may actually remember him to some extent. Additionally, she outright refuses to comment on him in her profile in the "Fate/Grand Order material XII" book.

Considering that's the only real effort they put into it - they're still wearing her Second Ascension clothing and the bag doesn't even cover up her distinctive hair - the only reason she got away with it for so long is because she was the newest addition to Chaldea and because [[UnusuallyUninterestingSight everyone in Chaldea is so used to random oddness]] that most just figured it's something to do with the Servantverse and didn't pry further. The main characters immediately identify her on sight.

* ThouShaltNotKill: While she certainly knows how to fight, she actually ''never'' kills in battle[[note]]As long as it's not a sentient living being, of course[[/note]], even in the Hundred Years War. She is only a standard-bearer, after all. Averted in ''mortallis:stella'' manga adaptation though, where she hits wyverns like a baseball batter and even impaled Jeanne Alter with her flagpole.

** The fighter jet in the background of her First Ascension is the mythological [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_(aircraft) SR-91 Aurora]], a rather clear reference to the head of the Wind Clan who gave Mélusine her name. She's also wearing Aurora's tiara around her right thigh.

* ItWasAGift: Her longsword she uses in her Noble Phantasm was a gift to her from her rival Takeda Harunobu for providing salt to his domain in its time of need. Interestingly, this means the Noble Phantasm conceptually belongs to both of them, which comes in handy during the story.

* SituationalSword: Her Noble Phantasm boosts her damage against enemies with the Man attribute, which unfortunately only has ''one'' instance in the Moon Cancer class, that being BB. However, there are plenty of Berserkers and tons of other Servants that do have the Man attribute, giving Kenshin lots of extra damage while maintaining her high defenses.

** Some of the ones that are not (as is arguably the case with Quetzalcoatl, Astraea and Caren) likely became so due to the cultural amalgamation of [[{{UsefulNotes/Christianity}} Catholic]] imagery and European/Latin iconography at large. This also possibly applies to Leonardo da Vinci (as much of classical Renaissance iconography--which reinvigorated Catholic cultural influence) springs in part from their works.
