    Ian Hasumi

Ian Hasumi

Ian is mostly known as 'Ian the Liar' because of his repeated insistence and stories about fairies and other fantasy creatures. He used to have fairy wing marks on his back, but shortly before Rin moved away, his father burned his back so badly that the only thing remaining of them now is a huge burn scar.

Ian has the ability to briefly show his world, filled with fairies, to other people, though he seems to require Rin's help in order to properly do it. After Ian gets stabbed by his father and Tokage takes over his body, Ian possesses the body of the dead Elijah Barret and tries to find a way to get Tokage out of his body and take it over himself again, while also trying to keep Rin away from him to protect her.

  • Chekhov's Gun: In the Otherworld, he picks up a pair of iron scissors, to Ainsel's confusion. The scissors help him fight off a Nuckelavee.
  • Grand Theft Me: After Ian got stabbed by his father, Tokage took over Ian's body.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: He's the son of a human and a Leanhan Sidhe fairy.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Because he's well-known for talking about fairies and lying, it's difficult to get people to believe him.
  • Someday This Will Come in Handy: He read all sorts of books on fairies, as well as myths and legends about them, which turns out useful when Kaito sends him and Ainsel to the Otherworld and he has to apply that knowledge to fight or escape from certain evil creatures.
  • Took a Level in Badass: After he is flung from his body, his desire to get revenge on Tokage makes him take risks and get tougher to succeed.
  • Winged Humanoid: He used to have fairy wing marks on his back before his father burned them off. After Tokage is thrown out of Ian's body and his soul returns to it, he sprouts proper fairy wings.
  • You Are What You Hate: Mrs Barret makes Ian realize that, by taking over her grandson Elijah's body to enact his revenge on Tokage, he stole Elijah's body and became a Winged One, just like what Tokage did to him.

    Tokage

Tokage

Ian's alter-ego, who has been with Ian for ages. He comes across as a joker, who likes to cause mischief. He actually hates Ian and began to control his father's thoughts and actions, forcing him to stab Ian and effectively killing him. This leaves Tokage to take over his body.

Tokage turns out to be Ian's twin brother, but he was still-born and could only really survive in the fairy world, so his mother took him there. But she was followed by the Big Bad, so she lied about hating him and shoved him aside to save him. His real name is actually Jesaja.

  • Cain and Abel: Sees himself as the unloved Cain to Ian's Abel especially since his mother threw him away, saying that she 'already had a child she loved a lot and didn't need him'.
  • Hero of Another Story: The one-shot after the events of Fairy Cube, Psycho Knockers, has him step up into the shoes of the rather-rude, teasing hero.

    Rin Ishinagi

Rin Ishinagi

Ian's childhood friend. She recently moved back to her old home with her mother and keeping a strained relationship with her old childhood friend Ian. Rin gets accused by a hysterical victim's girlfriend that she and Ian are behind the Fairy Murders, though Ian comes to her rescue and she witnesses him being stabbed by his father.

After Rin is convinced that Tokage has taken over Ian's body, she tries to avoid him. Tokage manages to succeed in placing a Salamander curse on her body, which causes her to burn whomever she touches and has strong feelings for.

  • Muggle Power: She is vital to helping Ian display his fairy world with other people. While he is half-fairy, Rin isn't and why exactly she has this power is not really explained.
  • New Transfer Student: She only recently moved back to her hometown.
  • Playing with Fire: The curse Tokage put on her. She burns whomever she touches, as long as she has strong feelings for them. She learns to use it to her advantage very fast.

    Ian's Father

Ian's Father

  • Abusive Dad: He's Ian's father and he's emotionally abusive towards him, using him as a substitute for his frustration that his mother left. He also burned the fairy wing marks off of Ian's back, making him admit that he lied about fairies.

    Rin's Mother

Rin's Mother

  • Abusive Mom: She beat her daughter since she was a little girl.
  • Would Hurt a Child: She's physically abusive to her daughter, even when she was a kid.
