Player Characters
The siblings in general
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Female MC gets her brother to sneak into the university's library with her in the dead of night, like they used to as children. He points out that their actions have consequences now that they're adults.
- I Am Who?: The siblings have this reaction when they remember they’re the lightkeeper and pathfinder.
- Invisible Parents: Their parents moved to California before the beginning of the story. This is a lie, they’re revealed to be in the fairytale world in season 3.
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: In season 3 it’s revealed a large portion of their lives have been erased from their memories along with the knowledge that the sister is the pathfinder and the brother is the lightkeeper in order to protect them.
- The Reveal: In season 3 are revealed that they’re supposed to form a Power Trio with Arin, but because of a danger from the magical realm were forced to extract a large portion of their magic and put it into a bottle thus disguising them and erase their memories of magic.
- Untrusting Community: The siblings attend university for free, which subjects them to resentment from the other students who think it's unfair. Female MC says that in town, there're all sorts of rumors about the school itself, which is supposedly "bad luck."
Heroine
Heroine/Female Protagonist/Female Main Character
The female main character, a free spirit who always believed in magic.
- Ascended Fan Girl: She always wanted fairytales and magic to be real and is thrilled to find out they are.
- Cannot Spit It Out: In Ezra’s route Is unable to tell or show anyone with magic her good luck charm, every time she tries she either forgets or is forced to blurt out embarrassing secrets. This is due to a spell placed on her.
- Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: Has switched majors multiple times because none have really clicked with her.
- Thinking Up Portals: Eventually remembers that as the pathfinder she has the ability to create portals to wherever she wants, even the fairy tale world.
- Tsundere: Is a sweet type in Ezra’s route, being deredere to most people but reacting with her tsuntsun side towards Ezra and Edward.
Hero
Hero/Male Protagonist/Male Main Character
The male main character, a former law student who recently went through a bad breakup.
- Big Brother Instinct: Because he doesn't want to see his little sister get hurt, he warns her to be careful of her feelings for Nora, who they expect will be leaving soon.Male MC: "There's nothing worse than falling for someone who doesn't see you as part of their future."
- He does this in all the routes for various reasons.
- The First Cut Is the Deepest: His ex dumped him a few months before the start of the story, leaving him deeply insecure and part of the reason he doesn’t actively pursue Lucas at first.
- Healing Hands: Eventually discovers that as the lightkeeper he’s able to heal others from wounds.
- I Can't Believe a Guy Like You Would Notice Me: Because of his self esteem issues, he has a hard time believing that someone as magnetic and charismatic as Lucas would ever be interested in him.
- Refusal of the Call: Originally didn’t want to take up his father’s role as the lightkeeper and is the real reason he left Whitethorn for law school.
- Straight Gay: Has no stereotypical traits or mannerisms.
Love Interests for Female Main Character
Nora
Nora le Fay
- Dark and Troubled Past: Once had a mentor who adopted her when she was little and taught her magic Only later to discover her mentor was siphoning away her magic. When she realized that her mentor was planning to do it to another girl she finally gathered the courage to fight her mentor and leave taking the girl back home.
- Dark Is Not Evil: She is a witch from the Dark Wood who dresses in black, and one of the friendlier characters.
- Emotional Powers: She casts spells by harnessing her emotions. More specifically, loneliness.
- Everyone Looks Sexier if French: She is implied to have an accent that’s analogous to French which is why her cover story has her be from Quebec and why she is given a French last name.
- Flying Broomstick: She takes Female MC flying on her broomstick one night.
- Hell-Bent for Leather: She dons a pair of leather pants with her uniform.
- Leitmotif: Has a mystical sounding theme.
- The Smart Girl: Tends to come up with the ideas for how to get the fairy-tale characters back to their own worlds.
- Squishy Wizard: While certainly a powerful spell caster, unlike the well trained in sword fighting Lucas, and the scrappy and clearly lethal mercenary Ezra, Nora isn’t much use in a straight up melee.
- Statuesque Stunner: She's 5'10".
- Thinking Tic: She tugs on the ends of her hair when deep in thought.
Ezra
Ezra Wolf
- Absurdly Sharp Claws: Wears metallic claws as part of his costume.
- Affectionate Nickname: Calls the Female MC Little Star in his route.
- Dark and Troubled Past: After he left his wolf pack for human society he was taken in by a group of mercenaries called the Hunters led by an old woman only known as Granny. He became best friends with Granny’s biological granddaughter Red Riding Hood and looked up to Granny as a surrogate grandmother Only for this closeness to be turned against him when Granny is found dead and he’s framed with the Hunters believing he did it led by a grief stricken Red. He goes to his wolf pack hoping to get his mother’s advice only to find them all dead by a Hunter’s hands.
- Then it gets worse when it’s revealed Red was only pretending to be grieving and after Ezra for revenge. She killed Granny out of impatience for leadership of the Hunters and feeling Granny and Ezra were “soft.” She was also the one who killed Ezra’s pack. When the Hunters began to realize how off the deep end she had become, she killed all of them except Ezra and Mouse in order to summon the cursed black princes.
- Hell-Bent for Leather: He wears a leather jacket over his school uniform.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He once carried a man 20 miles to the nearest hospital.
- Leitmotif: Has a mysterious theme with a lot of guitar emphasizing his aloof nature and mysterious past.
- Misunderstood Loner with a Heart of Gold / Not Evil, Just Misunderstood: Contrary to Female MC's thought, he doesn't actually like hurting people.
- Nails on a Blackboard: What it looks like he's doing in the series' title card.
- Raised by Wolves: The reason for his moniker “The Big Bad Wolf”, he was found as a baby by a mother wolf who raised him as one of her own.
- Red Is Violent: Upon his introduction, he's wearing a red shirt and taking swings at Lucas.
- School Is for Losers: When the suggestion is brought up that he goes undercover as a Whitethorn student, he rejects the idea as pointless.Ezra:: I've learned more about life than a place like this could ever teach me. Real knowledge isn't something you get from books. You have to get it from experience, by throwing yourself against the millstone of the world... Until it either crushes you or you learn to fight back.
- Troubled, but Cute: Is a mercenary with a tragic past and is very easy on the eyes.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: What his relationship with Lucas becomes in every route, they bicker all the time but will always rescue each other when they see the other in danger.
- Wolverine Claws: His weapon is a set of metal claws worn over the hands.
Lavinia
Lavinia Le Guin
- Anywhere but Their Lips: Insists that the Female Mc doesn’t kiss her on the lips and kisses her all over except on the lips, In order to protect the Female Mc from a curse Lavinia put on herself.
- Defrosting Ice Queen: A more literal example than most but starts off treating the Female MC with the same cool disdain she treats the other students but after finding out that her being descended from the founder of the school really doesn’t count for much and that the Female Mc really is trying to be kind and helpful, begins warming up to her.
- God Save Us from the Queen!: Has this reputation outside her own kingdom and she admits to the Female MC that she has done things that would label her a villain.
- An Ice Person: Comes with the territory of who she is but her magic allows her to generate cold, ice, and snow.
- Leitmotif: Has a suspenseful theme that goes with the fact that she’s darker than the other love interests.
- Magic Kiss: Due to a curse she placed on herself, a kiss on the lips from her will brainwash anyone who experiences it into a mindless slave to her.
- Really 700 Years Old: She is centuries old.
Arin
Arin Langdon
A kindly grad student and student-teacher.- Childhood Friend Romance: Downplayed because they were teenagers when they met, but in their route they begin to rekindle their friendship with the Female MC.
- Expository Hairstyle Change: Originally their hair is tied up in a top knot. In season 3 After revealing their true identity to everyone their hair is now loose on their head.
- Fiery Redhead: Inverted. They're redheaded, but they are often seen wearing a gentle expression.
- Gentle Giant: Arin slightly taller than Nora, which puts them at about 6 feet tall. They have a gentle demeanor, and f!MC notes that they've always been accommodating of student needs.
- Guilt Complex: Downplayed in most routes but is in full force in their own. They feel incredibly guilty for being forced To keep the hero and heroine in the dark of the full truth of Whitethorn and the fairytale world and especially the true identities of the hero and heroine and they both used to already know about it.
- Jack of All Trades: Of a sort. They major in library studies, but according to Female MC they already have three other post-graduate degrees, one in a science and another in a language. This is to justify them continuing being at the University while they train to become the new guardian.
- Keeping Secrets Sucks: In all the routes but especially their route it’s made clear that They absolutely hate having to keep secrets from the M Cs especially the Female MC even if it is to keep her safe.
- Must Have Caffeine: They are seen carrying a giant mug of coffee at the cafe. Female MC says that they can drink coffee any time of day.
- Secret Secret-Keeper: Reveals in season 3 they are the apprentice guardian and therefore knew all along that Lucas, Ezra, Nora, and Omar are from the fairytale world and knew all about the Laser-Guided Amnesia on the siblings.
- Teen Genius: Smart enough as a teenager to come to a university for a double major in history and literature.
- Threshold Guardian: They are revealed to be the apprentice guardian of the magic library and tasked with guarding the portal books.
- Workaholic: They are shown to be constantly working due to their major and with their mentor James Tutorea’s absence, taking over his full duties for the time being Both as Head Librarian and as Guardian. In addition due to both the lightkeeper and pathfinder being out of commission at the time they have to do their best to fill in for both roles, something they were never trained or meant to do.

Lucas
Prince Lucas Charming the Fourth
- Abdicate the Throne: At the end of his route realizes he doesn’t, nor has he ever wanted the throne and chooses to abdicate and live with the male mc in Whitethorn.
- Always Accurate Attack: Lucas' sword is enchanted to always hit its mark, though it doesn't work in the player characters' world due to the low level of ambient magic.
- Because Destiny Says So: Puts a lot of stock in fate and always trusts that it will lead him where he’s meant to be.
- Cannot Tell a Lie: Learns in season 2 his sword won’t allow him to wield it if he’s lying even if it’s only to himself.
- The Chains of Commanding: He is the only heir to his kingdom so has a duty to eventually return home and one day take up the throne.
- The Face: Unlike the more reserved Nora and Ezra, Lucas is friendly and outgoing and draws people wherever he goes making him the mouthpiece when dealing with people like Darla.
- Heroes Prefer Swords: He has carried a sword with him since he was four years old.
- I Choose to Stay: Decides at the end of his route that he wants to stay at Whitethorn.
- Instant Fan Club: In his route, Lucas becomes the talk of the school on the first day when he gives out swordplay tips to the fencing club on the quad.
- Leitmotif: Has a regal sounding theme.
- Rose-Haired Sweetie: Lucas has naturally pink hair, and he's a charming man who's loved by everyone.
- Sweet Tooth: Absolutely falls in love with donuts when he is introduced to the sugary treat.
- Technicolor Eyes: His eyes are purple.
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: Never formally met his father until he was 8, his father being extremely distant and stern.
- The Wise Prince: Is a noble and intelligent prince.
Abel

The Woodsman
A woodsman of the White Queen who comes to our world to see why the Whitethorn trees are rotting.- Abusive Parents: His father was not a good person, he once forced Abel to kill his beloved pet fawn and then cook and serve it to his father.
- Almighty Janitor: A woodsman who is the caretaker of the White Queen’s trees. He also has an axe that’s the only thing that can permanently destroy the Warlock’s puppets made of the Whitethorns.
- Belligerent Sexual Tension: In his route, bickers a lot with the Male MC For leaving his post as the lightkeeper and caretaker of the whitethorns.

Omar
Omar Naddali
A.K.A. Aladdin
- Fish out of Water: He's also a displaced fairy-tale character trying to fit into the new world. A surprised Female MC notes that he wasn't able to recall the name of the famous fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes.
- I Just Want to Have Friends: Omar tries very hard to fit in—a little too hard, female MC notes.
- Legacy Character: Kind of He makes it clear that he’s not THE Aladdin, it being a common name where he’s from, but says his lamp probably is the lamp from the story.
- Leitmotif: Has a bouncy theme to emphasize him being a more lighthearted character.
- Nice Guy: He's always going out of his way to help out the protagonists, whether by slipping them notes to the exchange program intake interview or putting together a science project.
- Significant Anagram: His last name Naddali is one for his real name Aladdin.
- Sixth Ranger: At the end of season 1 he becomes part of the main group After revealing he’s from the fairy tale world too.
Darla
Darla Pratt
The queen bee of Whitethorn University and director of the Drama Club and Debate Team. She's aiming to be on the board of regents again.- Badass Normal: While she has no magic, she reveals in later seasons that she is well trained in kickboxing.
- Brutal Honesty: Completely blunt to a fault with no interest in sugarcoating anything.
- Demoted to Dragon: In Lavinia’s route she’s reduced to Beta Bitch by Blossom who’s far worse than she ever was.
- Drama Club: She's the director of Whitethorn's Drama Club.
- Hello, [Insert Name Here]: During the Sleeping Beauty special short the player is given the option to rename Darla, justified in-universe as a sort of rebirth after distancing herself from a bad family situation.
- Hidden Heart of Gold: It’s shown that she’s not completely horrible and has her moments of niceness especially in Nora’s route with Jo.
- Hypocrite: Initially dislikes the main characters because, due to being the descendants of the university founders, they get to attend university for free without earning it...despite the fact that the only reason Darla can afford tuition fees, and the reason for her influence at the school is family money, which she also did not earn.
- Lipstick Lesbian: Voltage's Pride Month 2020 list of LBGTQ+ characters lists her as a lesbian. She presents very feminine, as is typical for her archetype.
- Promoted to Playable: The main character of the Sleeping Beauty short, focusing on her relationship with Jo.
- Queen Bee: As Whitethorn's rich queen bee, she's somewhat of a bully to the main characters. However, she quickly attaches herself to Lucas after he introduces himself as a prince.
- Secret-Keeper: In season 3 she becomes this.
- Ship Tease: In Nora’s route has an obvious crush on Jo.
- "Well Done, Daughter!" Girl: Has a distant and uncaring father who is a busy businessman and intends to run for president.
Edward
Edward Berdot
A.K.A. Beast
- The Exile: He was exiled from his kingdom.
- Foil: Is this to Ezra While both are animal themed mercenaries from the fairytale world, they are very different. Edward is a blue eyed blonde while Ezra has black hair and yellow eyes. Edward is a prince while Ezra was literally Raised by Wolves. Edward is selfish and willing to do anything to attain his goals while Ezra is much more noble than his reputation implies.
- I Gave My Word: He maybe cruel and selfish but when he gives his word, he honors it.
- Leitmotif: Has a smooth guitar theme to emphasize his Initial cool guy personality.
- Pet the Dog: Expresses genuine sympathy to Mouse For her dead sisters.
- Shapeshifter Mode Lock: He can normally switch between his human form and a beast form, but he was locked into his human form when he was exiled.
- Touch of Death: Well not death but pain. His magic allows him to cause pain to someone with a simple touch.
Mallory
Mallory Strup
A.K.A. Gothel
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Initially portrays herself as a friend: putting Darla in her place, helping Josephine, giving Lucas back his book, Only to reveal she was siphoning off Josephine’s magic and wants Nora to be her pupil.
- Evil Mentor: In Season 2 of Nora’s route, wanted to be this to Nora.

- Composite Character: A combination of Sleeping Beauty and the protagonist of the fairy tale Diamonds and Toads.
- The Stoic: Due to the nature of her magic inevitably making people want to exploit her for riches she has to keep herself totally calm unable to laugh and cry.
- Wise Beyond Her Years: Due to her quiet and reserved nature, she has developed the ability to pick up the ability to notice things that others don’t notice or acknowledge like the fact that Nora and the female MC like each other but are holding back their feelings.
