Voiced by: Yuko Sanpei (JP), Johnny Yong Bosch (EN), Julie Ann Taylor (EN, child)

A boy who became a soldier and serves with the Gekkostate along with his Larva Nirvash in order to find his childhood friend Eureka.

  • Bring My Brown Pants: His child self peeps himself as he watches Eureka be taken away by soldiers.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: Eureka was raised alongside Renton almost like a sister, but both were separated for eight years. After being reunited as teenagers, they become a couple.
  • Child Soldier: He enters into the military and at 14 years old, is assigned to the Independent Youths Unit 303 of the First Mobile Forces thanks to his exceptional performance as an LFO pilot.
  • Declaration of Protection: He swears to protect Eureka.
  • Determinator: He causes the Nirvash to evolve into its final form, rescuing Eureka from an EIZO attack, and then defeating Holland (piloting the Devilfish, no less) all while bleeding to death from a gunshot wound to the stomach. Note that he was barely conscious (at best) for the latter part of the fight.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Unlike the Technical Pacifist Renton from the series, this Renton is willing to kill people in battle.
  • I Will Find You: He sets out to find Eureka for 8 years after she gets kidnapped.
  • Robosexual: He loves Eureka even after he learns she's a Robot Girl.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: He's able to understand Larva Nirvash.

    Eureka Zita

Voiced by: Kaori Nazuka (JP), Stephanie Sheh (EN)

Renton's long lost childhood friend who was taken away by the military.

  • Adaptation Name Change: In the movie, Eureka's last name is Zita. In contrast, Eureka never had a last name in the TV series.
  • Adaptation Species Change: In the TV series, Eureka is a Human Alien created by the Scub Coral, but the movie has Eureka state she's a Ridiculously Human Robot instead. Curiously, Eureka is The Ageless in the TV series while the movie shows she ages normally in this universe.
  • Amnesiac Lover: Eureka completely loses her memories in order to save Renton, but she seems to have kept her love for Renton despite her amnesia.
  • Become a Real Girl: She's a Ridiculously Human Robot, but wishes to be a normal human to be with Renton. Her wish comes true at the end of the movie, although at the cost of her memories.
  • Can't Live Without You: At the end of the movie, she states that she could only exist as long as Renton lives and dreams after being reborn as a human being.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: She's Renton's childhood friend and love interest.
  • The Chosen One: Image planted a crystal inside of Eureka, which contains the password to enter Neverland, which makes her the "chosen girl" that can open the way to reach Neverland.
  • Cute Mute: At the end of the movie, she loses her ability to speak as a result of her amnesia.
  • Dream Weaver: Eureka was able to enter Renton's dream during their childhood, and demonstrated this ability again as the naked long hair girl in Renton's dream, adding the fact that the world might have turned into or connected to Renton's dream world.
  • Heroic BSoD: When she sees Renton get shot by Hap while pummeling him for assaulting her. She then spends a brief period sulking in the dark outside Renton's hospital room blaming herself for being so inconsiderate, and later ultimately realizes how far she herself will go to save his life.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: At the end of the movie, Eureka doesn't appear see any problem with being naked as a result of her amnesia.
  • I Will Wait for You: Eureka waited patiently and hoped for the moment she could be reunited with Renton, considering she thought of suicide throughout the 8 years of imprisonment.
  • Last of Her Kind: Eureka is the 7th and last Human Image ever created before Image disappears from Earth in the ending.
  • Naked on Revival: At the end of the movie, Eureka appears naked next to Renton after she's revived as a human.
  • Proper Tights with a Skirt: In the first act of the movie, she wears black tights along her iconic minidress. She discards them when she switches to the outfit of the TV series.
  • Ridiculously Human Robot: She looks, acts and even ages exactly like a human, but she claims to be a robot.
  • Robot Girl: She's a robot disguised as a human girl to act as a spy for the Image.
  • She Is All Grown Up: Renton comments to Eureka that she has grown pretty since he last saw her 8 years ago.
  • Tsundere: Sweet type. She loves Renton a lot and doesn't try to hide it, but can get mad at him and insult him at times of distress.
  • Weakened by the Light: Direct exposition to sunlight hurts her skin.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: After years of scientists experimenting on her, her lifespan is close to its end. The movie's ending implies she gained a regular lifespan after becoming fully human.

    Holland Novak

Voiced by: Keiji Fujiwara (JP), Crispin Freeman (EN)

The leader of Gekkostate.

  • Adaptational Villainy: He's an Anti-Hero even at his worst in the TV series, but the movie practically turns him into the main villain as he tries to force Renten and Eureka to bring him and his friend to "Neverland" and even tries to kill them when he gives up on convincing them.
  • Age Lift: He looks like a man in his thirties like in the TV series, but the movie reveals he's Younger Than He Looks in this universe because the experiment done to him causes his body to age rapidly even though he's only 17 years old.
  • Anti-Villain: Holland and his crew are trying to find a way to save themselves from their rapid aging, and they're willing to use anyone to achieve that goal and stomp on anyone who gets in their way.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: Flashbacks of the movie show Holland and his girlfriend Talho knew each other as children when both were made into test subjects.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He gives up on forcing Renton and Eureka to reach Neverland after he learns Talho is pregnant with his child.
  • Kill and Replace: In this universe, he isn't the real Holland Novak, but an orphan who killed the real one and stole his identity.
  • Villain Team-Up: Holland does this with Aim Liard in Super Robot Wars Z2: Hakai-Hen.
  • Younger Than He Looks: Holland is only 17 during the movie, but looks much older due to experiments causing him to age rapidly.

Voiced by: Shigenori Yamazaki (JP), Peter Doyle (EN)

A professor who taught Renton and Eureka when they were kids. He told them he had to go on a mission and they found out he died shortly after.

  • Adaptational Job Change: Dominic is a military scientist specializing in human experiments in the film, whereas he's a second lieutenant in the TV series.
  • Age Lift: Dominic appears to be notably older in the movie since he's already a teacher when Renton and Eureka are young children, while he's only six years older than Renton in the TV series.
  • Dead Person Conversation: In one scene of the movie, Renton meets Dominic's ghost. He apologizes for his failure to protect Eureka, but Dominic tells him not to let go of his feelings and to focus more on what's in his heart than in his head.
  • Death by Adaptation: He survives to the end in the TV series, but the movie has Dominic Killed Offscreen in a military experiment within the first minutes.
  • Stern Teacher: According to Renton, Dominic was a strict teacher, but could be kind to him and Eureka when he wanted to.
  • Together in Death: His soul is reunited with his girlfriend Anemone after she dies at the end of the movie.

    Anemone

Voiced by: Ami Koshimizu (JP, young), Yoshiko Sakakibara (JP, old), Kari Wahlgren (EN)

Dominic's girlfriend who is accompanied by a Larva named TheEND.

  • Adaptational Heroism: Unlike in the TV series where she's a mentally unstable villain, the movie's Anemone acts as an elderly mentor who guides Eureka into the path that leads her to save Renton and remake the world.
  • Adaptational Nice Girl: In the TV series, Anemone is borderline Ax-Crazy until the final episodes. In the movie, Anemone is sweet, mature and helpful.
  • Death by Adaptation: Like Dominic, the movie has Anemone die even though she survives in the TV series.
  • No Body Left Behind: Her body disappears, leaving only her clothes behind.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: In contrast to her Psycho Pink version from the TV series, the movie's Anemone is a nice and benevolent pink-haired woman.
  • Time Stands Still: There's a scene in the movie where Anemone shows the power to stop time temporarily.
  • Together in Death: At the end of the movie, her spirit is seen reuniting with Dominic before both pass on to the afterlife.
  • Younger than She Looks: She looks like an old lady due to experiments causing her to age rapidly, but returns to her younger appearance in the last act of the movie.
