  • Parental Abandonment: She's an orphan that Kai took in and became her caretaker.
  • Psychic Powers: She has psychic powers that Eiji wants to use to wipe out most of Earth's population because he claims that it'll make espers like her "happy".
  • Unstable Powered Child: Hikaru, is disturbingly powerful, unaware of it, and kept bedridden and spoiled by the Ashurum corporation in order to keep her older brother in line.

  • Cool Big Sis: She cares about her younger brother a lot as an older sister should, although she is frustrated with his condescending and sardonic attitude towards Kai Kudō.
  • Smitten Teenage Girl
  • Through His Stomach: She initially begins developing some sort of affection for Kai, as evidenced by baking a cake for him.

  • Badass Normal
  • Bash Brothers: With Kai.
  • Big Brother Mentor: To Kai, despite being an year older than him.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Yuuki, who, to be honest, is basically a money-hoarding jackass who works Kai like a slavedriver, doesn't particularly seem to care about putting him into seriously dangerous positions and forces him to dress like a woman. Twice. Also takes care of orphaned children, donating most of the money he so loves to hoard to them, raised Asuka pretty much by himself and does come to care for Kai's wellbeing too. Even if he won't really admit it.
  • Promotion to Parent: Yuuki is this for a whole bunch of kids and basically Asuka as well, despite being more fitting to be her brother age-wise.

    Asuka Tokugawa

Asuka Tokugawa

  • The Empath: Is apparently able to sense emotions by touching people, and various intense emotions from great distances.
  • Friend to All Living Things
  • The Ingenue: Fits pretty well, except for the whole "immune to sexual innuendo" thing.
  • Lethal Chef: To the extent Yuuki couldn't speak for an entire day after tasting her cooking. She's been given a permanent ban from the kitchen, making this... Stay Out of the Kitchen?
  • Opening Narration: Her "My life with Kai and Yuuki" story.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: Of the "speaks human to the animals who make animal sounds in return and understanding is achieved" variety. Apparently, somewhat linked to her being...

    Eiji Sagimiya

Eiji Sagimiya

Voiced by: Akimitsu Takase (Japanese), Jay Hickman (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eiji_sagimiya_30212_0.jpg

  • Manipulative Bastard: Mr. Eiji. Seems nice enough and his interactions with Hikaru are definite Pet the Dog material. ...Until you realize it was all probably a well calculated ploy to get Hikaru to forget about Kai and make sure she'd cooperate in his attempts to bring about The End of the World as We Know It.
  • Near-Villain Victory: His plan to use Hikaru's Psychic Powers to wipe out most of Earth's population is nearly successful, as Hikaru was put into a machine that enhances her telepathic abilities to the point it can cover and attack a vast area of people, but Kai, who was informed by Shen-Long, and Yuki Tokugawa intervened and rescued her from such a fate.

  • When Elders Attack: Seems like a harmless old geezer at first glance. Then he takes down Shinlu, who was going through his underlings effortlessly, via Mind Rape.

    Cardinal Giberini

Kyou

Voiced by: Shinnosuke Tachibana (Japanese), Chris Ayres (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kyou_es_otherwise_30215.jpg

  • Anime Hair: Sports a style of what is known as "gravity defying" hair.
  • Blood Knight: Kyou, who seems to get most of his kicks out of coming back to battle Kai time after time... and tends to have undergone certain... modifications after every return.
  • White Hair, Black Heart

    Dzhuma Darvaza Ark

Dzhuma Darvaza Ark

Voiced by: Jun Fukuyama (Japanese), Vic Mignogna (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dzhuma_darvaza_ark_30284.jpg

  • Brown Note: Dzhyma's little gadget. Harmless to ordinary humans, causes extreme pain and, with enough power, death to Espers. He made it For Science!
  • Hopeless Suitor: Dzhyma was smitten with Asuka at first glance. Unfortunately for him, Asuka only has eyes for Kai. Doesn't stop him from declaring them rivals in love, though.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: An attractive blond-haired guy.

    Ruri Hisaishi
