     Kai
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kai_8.png

The main hero of the story. A lonely child whose parents are avid Elebit researchers who seem to spend more time researching them than being with their own son, which has made Kai heavily resent all Elebits in general.

  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!:
    • Or at least something similar. After Mission 21 here is this little quote from him:
Is it possible that Elebits actually like to play? After I did that big puzzle, a lot of them came over and watched. Maybe they're not so bad... Hey, look at the rides!
    • Seemingly defied in the next story progression, since he scolds himself to focus on his mission.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: He wishes the lightning would go away, hoping that Elebits will disappear and his parents will spend more time with him. It backfires on him, since they leave him alone with the things he hates the most.
  • Character Development: Goes from hating the Elebits to liking them. Especially after he learns that they aren’t really evil.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: He thinks his parents love Elebits more than him.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: He tends to say "Heck" and "Gosh" instead of swearing.
  • Irony: He wants to go to the amusement park with his parents. Guess where the last third of the game takes place?
  • Kid Hero: He is only ten years old, but he's the hero who saves the day.
  • Never My Fault: Not really never, but he blames the lack of attention he gets from his parents on the Elebits.

Dr. Ed and Dr. Anna (Kai's Parents)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ed_and_anna.png

Kai's parents who are both Elebit researchers. They research Elebits too much that they barely have time to be with their son, which causes a rift between them.

  • Good Parents: Though they don't always have time for their son, they do love him.
  • Happily Married: They seem rather happy in the opening cutscene.
  • Parental Abandonment: They leave Kai alone to find out what’s happened to the Elebits.

The Elebits

     In General

The main source of electricity for the world. These little creatures have a somewhat low intelligence and, if left alone and confused, can cause problems.

  • Adorable Evil Minions: The first and the last are undeniable; however, they are Chaotic Neutral instead of Evil. While they seem to blindly follow Zero’s orders and let themselves be sucked inside him, therefore making him stronger, they are more interested in doing what THEY want and that's wreaking havoc. The evil part is subverted once they turn back to normal.
  • Color Motif: Played with. An Elebit's color will usually match their personality, though sometimes it’s only played straight after they change form or use their abilities.
  • Cute Critters Act Childlike: They are occasionally seen doing things such as somersaulting or singing.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: All of them are very adorable, even Black Elebits.
  • Smoke Out: Main strategy of Blue Elebits to escape. Orange Elebits are also capable of doing this along with Teleportation in the Tank levels.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Downplayed. They don’t technically die, but they ignorantly play around the level until they get noticed. When this happens, they either run around and panic or (if they are left alone for a few minutes) countinue what they started, thereby making themselves easy targets for the Capture Gun.

     Green Elebit
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/green_elebit.png

The weakest kind of Elebit there is. It doesn't provide as much electricity as others, but it's also the tamest of them all. Easily the most plentiful kind.

  • The Goomba: Slow? Check. Weak? Check. Everywhere - especially in the earlier levels - and made solely for the purpose of new players practicing their capturing skills? Definitely check.
  • Sweet Tooth: Like Yellow Elebits, they love sweets.

     Red Elebit
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/red_elebit.png

Elebits that are far more emotional than other Elebits. Because of their volatile emotions, the amount of electricity they give can be plentiful or scarce.

  • Cowardly Lion: Despite their timid nature, just like other Elebits, their fear doesn’t stop them from hopping into tanks or turrets to assault Kai whenever possible.
  • Lovable Coward: They panic and burst into tears every time they hear a big noise, but they are very cute.
  • Wingding Eyes: Their eyes have stars in them at all times.

     Power Elebit

Elebits whose main function is to power up the Capture Gun when captured in droves. They cannot power up other appliances, for some reason.

  • Palette Swap: They are the yellow and pink colored versions of the Green Elebit.

     Pink Elebit
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pink_elebit.png

Baby-like Elebits that like hiding in specific places. Finding these usually mean good fortune (translating to opening up challenge stages).

  • Good Luck Charm: A living example. Their BIO says they grant good fortune.
  • Metal Slime: Find them to unlock challenge stages so that you can unlock special features.

     Blue Elebit
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blue_elebit.png

Somewhat burly Elebits that have uncharacteristically fast speed like that of ninjas. They provide a lot of electricity.

  • Ninja: Downplayed. They are fast and they can use smokescreen, but that's really all.

     Orange Elebit
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/orange_elebit.png

Flying (actually gravity-defying) Elebits that fly around without a care in the world, without having much of a concern in bumping into things.

  • Ear Wings: Subverted. They seem to fly with their ear-like parts of their body, but they actually control gravity.
  • Graceful in Their Element: Their BIO states that they are more confident in the air.
  • Gravity Master: Especially their leader, who's strong enough to utterly screw the gravity of a whole city.

     Black Elebit
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/black_elebit.png

Theoretically friendly Elebits that crave for attention. They provide no electricity whatsoever and are allegedly very unpopular with people due to the spikes on their backs. In a few words, they are a plague.

  • Dark Is Evil: They are black and they damage the Capture Gun if the player is trying to capture them.
  • False Friend: The game calls them friendly, but they are one of the most troublesome Elebits in the game.
  • Killer Rabbit: If you find them cute, they're deadly.

     Boss Black Elebit

Even larger Black Elebits that only come out when extreme amounts of a mess are caused. They also have zero electricity. Even more unpopular with people because of their size.

  • Hell Is That Noise: After causing a big mess, you'll know these bastards will come out when you hear the echoing noise before they appear.
  • Killer Rabbit: Way more troublesome than their little cousins.
  • Palette Swap: They are similar in appearance to the Black Elebits, but they have blue spikes and have plus signs as eyes.

     Yellow Elebit (Small and Large)

Elebits that are more hostile than other Elebits. They have offensive capabilities and can fuse with other Elebits when panicked.

  • Fusion Dance: Startle the small ones while there are other non-yellow Elebits around, and they will fuse to form a larger Elebit that can attack you.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Large Yellow Elebits are implied to be this.
  • Sweet Tooth: Like Green Elebits, they love sweets.

     Shell-Head Elebit (Small and Large)

A rare kind of Elebit that doesn't provide electricity but still can be captured. They only appear when a Land Elebit is around.

     Gray Elebit
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gray_elebit.png

Easily the strongest type of Elebit around that provides way more electricity than any other. It is fast and strong, however, and can attack to defend themselves.

  • Light Is Not Good: Despite they are called Gray Elebit their skin/fur is very light, they’re also the most powerful non-boss enemies in the game.
  • Pure Energy: They use this for offense.
  • The Stoic: Subverted. Their BIO says that they are very stoic but they like having fun as much as the other Elebits.

Boss Fight Elebits

     In General

Elebits that have become stronger than any other Elebits and can cause more havoc.

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Crazy because they wreak havoc and attack the player, and brainwashed because neither of them seems to remember the havoc they caused.
  • Cute, but Cacophonic: Much like the normal Elebits, they have extremely loud and high pitched voice, especially the Sea Elebit.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief:
    • Fighter: The Land Elebit has the most offensive power out of the three.
    • Mage: The Sky Elebit can create forcefields for defense and summon tornadoes for offense.
    • Thief: The Sea Elebit is very fast and uses trickery for fighting but isn't as powerful as the other two.
  • Flunky Boss: Both the Sky and Land Elebit are accompanied by Orange and Shell-Head Elebits respectively. They aren't that dangerous... as long as you capture them in time.
  • Land, Sea, Sky
  • Meaningful Name: Downplayed with Sea, played straight with Sky and averted with Land, since only Sky has power over Wind.
  • Mook Promotion: Once defeated, they turn back into a Blue, an Orange and five small Yellow Elebits respectively.
  • Walking Spoiler: Along with Zero.

     Sea Elebit
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sea_elebit.png

A docile Elebit. It is not as troublesome as other stronger Elebits, since it can only defend itself without using offensive methods.

  • Fragile Speedster: Inverted. It's very fast and moderately defensive, but has no offensive power.
  • Self-Duplication: One of its powers is the ability to create water-based copies of itself.

     Sky Elebit:
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sky_elebit.png

A powerful Elebit that has control over gravity, so much that its power can easily reach out to an entire city.

  • Blow You Away: It can create tornadoes.
  • Ear Wings: Subverted. It has long ears and flaps with them, but it changes gravity to fly. That’s because it’s an overpowered Orange Elebit.
  • Gravity Master: It screws the gravity of an entire city!
  • Turns Red: Downplayed. After its HP is reduced to half, its shield disappears and it starts firing tornadoes. However, this kind of attack is just slightly more difficult than the previous ones.

     Land Elebit
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/land_elebit.png

A hefty Elebit that's far more violent than others due to its size and weight.

  • Acrofatic: For a round creature with tiny legs, it is quite energetic.
  • Bullfight Boss: You can only damage it by letting it run to the wall (or letting it trip), then grabbing it with the Gravity Gun, then slamming it against the wall or the floor.
  • Burning with Anger: If you look closely, you'll see red steam coming out of its back.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Much like the large Yellow Elebit.
  • The Klutz: It is quite clumsy.
  • The Napoleon: It isn't much bigger than Kai but, boy, it's got a temper!
  • Playing with Fire: Uses this for offense.
  • Personality Powers: Justified. Despite being called the Land Elebit, it controls some sort of Fire Energy power as well, which explains its short temper. Also it's not easy to be stable when your back is on fire.
  • Red Is Violent: Its stomach glows red in the entire fight.
  • Tactical Suicide Boss: Ahh, Land Elebit, can't you see that if you'd stop trying to run into Kai, you wouldn't keep tripping and you would remain invincible?

     Zero (WARNING SPOILERS)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zero_elebit.png
spoilers

An extremely potent Elebit that has the ability to suck in other Elebits to gain more power. It appeared when the lightning struck the amusement park and seemingly lets Elebits run amok.

  • Big Bad: The final boss of the game.
  • Boss-Arena Idiocy: Why would the Zero Elebit fight in an area filled with objects that he can take damage from?
  • Defeat Equals Friendship: He becomes friends with Kai after being defeated by him.
  • Easily Forgiven: He brainwashed the Elebits, caused a major blackout and used the other Elebits' power for destruction. Sort of justified, since he didn't do it out of malice, but because of loneliness. Also if he never wreaks havoc, Kai might never learn to like Elebits.
  • Final Boss: The one pulling the strings behind the events of the story.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He and Kai become friends after the latter defeats him.
  • Hot Wings: They are orange, but can also be purple.
  • Humongous Mecha: His second form.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Kai feels sympathy for it after he learns it only wanted Elebits for friends, until they all seem to shun him for forcing them to merge into him.
  • Light Is Not Good: He has white skin and serves as the main antagonist of the game. However he makes a Heel–Face Turn. In the sequel, he is even called the Omega of Light.
  • Not Evil, Just Misunderstood: He starts destroying the world out of loneliness.
  • Power Copying: He can use the Mirror image of the Blue Elebit.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: After he starts controlling the robot.
  • Walking Spoiler: This folder is a spoiler in its own right.
