    Jun Fudo/Devilman Lady
Voiced by: Junko Iwao (Japanese), Shawn Sides (English)

The titular main character of the series. A schoolteacher (manga)/supermodel (anime), she lived a normal life until coming into contact with a Devil Beast. Afterwards, she turns into the Devil Lady. She is recruited by Lan Asuka into helping her combat the Devil Beasts.

  • Adaptational Name Change: Is renamed as Jun Lan in Devilman Grimoire.
  • Adaptational Nice Girl: In the manga, she is a kind person, though she is noticeably hot-tempered and aggressive when provoked. In the anime, however, she is a lot calmer and friendlier, and also shyer.
  • All-Loving Hero: Downplayed. She is by no means a saint, and isn't above killing her enemies, but she is known to cry for or express sympathy for some of her enemies.
  • Anguished Declaration of Love: Delivered to Akira, when she meets him in hell. Jun states that she's willing to follow him anywhere, whether it be heaven or hell, or even the very edges of the universe, so long as they can be together. Akira encourages her to leave hell, much to her distress. When the reveal happens, it becomes apparent that these were Satan/Ryo's feelings towards Akira expressed through Jun.
  • Chickification: Downplayed and Justified. In the manga, Jun is a former Olympic athlete who regularly lifts weights and swims. While she is at first horrified at the reveal of Devil Beasts and that she is a Devil Man, she quickly becomes accustomed to her role as a monster killer. She reacts like a regular person would in her situation. In the anime, Jun is a shy, timid model who has a hard time adjusting to being a Devil Man and doesn't want anything to do with hunting the Devil Beasts. She is a push-over compared to her manga counterpart and only displays a strong will and ferocity as Devilman Lady. Justified because the anime has a vastly different tone and storyline than the manga, and the duality between Jun and her Devil Beast self is a major plot element; and downplayed in that Jun eventually does grow more comfortable with her Devil self, eventually fully embracing it, and grows into more of a confident fighter as the series goes on.
  • Clothing Damage: Her clothes do not agree with her transformation as Lady. It's why she wears armor that fits her size when she's grown huge as well.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Everything 'monstrous' about her only serves to make her more attractive.
  • Distaff Counterpart: To Akira Fudo.
  • Expy: Her anime counterpart is possibly based on Aira Mu from Violence Jack, since, like Aira, Jun is a kind and gentle fashion model known for her good looks, and she also shares Aira's hair style and attractive body.
  • Full-Frontal Assault: Whenever she's in her Devilman form.

    Lan Asuka
Voiced by: Kaoru Shimamura (Japanese), Siân Rees-Cleland (English)

The deuteragonist of the series. As a high-ranking member of the Human Alliance, she is the one who recruits Jun Fudo into fighting the Devil Beasts. Though cold and aggressive on the outside, she does grow to care for Jun.

    Kazumi Takiura (spoilers)
Voiced by: Kazusa Murai (Japanese), Camille Chen (English)

An anime-exclusive character. She is a young teen model and a huge fan of Jun. They become very close, and their relationship grows throughout the series.

    Aoi Kurosaki
Voiced by: Megumi Ogata (Japanese), Laura Bussinger (English)

An Olympic swimmer and Jun's rival who transforms into a Devil Beast.

  • Demonic Possession: Sirene ends up possessing her near the end of the story, resulting in a Fusion Dance of her Noir form and Sirene's appearance. Sirene is the one in control and leaves Jun alone upon seeing her unconscious.
  • Hypocrite: Hates men due to what her step father did, but not only engages in depraved acts with her original devilbeast form that identifies as a split personality of a man, but embraces being a beast ruled by her base desires after she gets her Devilman form. Even growing a penis she sought to use to rape Jun with.
  • Official Couple: With Jun in the Alternate Universe spinoff Devilman Grimoire.
  • Psycho Lesbian: She is obsessed with raping Jun.
  • The Rival: To Jun in swimming since high school, later a Rival Turned Evil when she becomes a Beast.
  • Split Personality: Her Beast form has a separate conscious from her, speaking to her through the nouth on her chest.

    Dr. Jason Bates
Voiced by: Ryūsei Nakao (Japanese), J. Hudson Brownlee (English)

A scientist who works at the Samuelson Labs in New Jersey and leads research into the Devil Beasts. He is an ally to Jun, but unlike his co-workers, he takes a more sympathetic view of the Devil Beasts, sewing them as every bit as human as himself and Jun.

    Kiyoshi Maeda
Voiced by: Takumi Yamazaki (Japanese), Britt Baker (English)

Personal secretary to Lan Asuka and Jun's driver. Very friendly to Jun and concerned about her mental health.

    Tatsuya Yuasa
Voiced by: Naoya Uchida (Japanese), Ryan Rutledge (English)

Jun's long time modeling agent who accompanies her to her auditions.

    Satoru
Voiced by: Mami Koyama (Japanese), J. Shanon Weaver (English)

The mysterious boy who leads the Devil Beasts and the primary antagonist. He believes in the superiority of Devil Beasts over humanity and seeks the genocide of all humans. As such, he despises Jun, considering her a traitor to her kind, and plots to kill her.

  • Big Bad: He is the leader of the Devil Beasts who seeks to destroy humanity and kill Jun for getting in his way.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: In the anime with Lan Asuka, who herself seeks world domination and competes with him to control the planet. He loses, making Lan the Final Boss.
  • Creepy Child: He is the sinister leader of the Devil Beasts, and looks like a young kid with a cap. A young kid who constantly gives Breaking Lectures to Jun and others about how Humans Are Bastards and deserve death.
  • Kill All Humans: His goal is to end humanity and make way for the Devil Beasts.
  • Take Over the World: His goal is to Kill All Humans so he and his Devil Beasts will dominate the planet.

Child of God (Unmarked Anime Spoilers)

Lan Asuka (Anime)

Voiced by: Kaoru Shimamura (Japanese), Siân Rees-Cleland (English)

The anime version of Lan Asuka is a radically different character from the manga version. Here, she is revealed as the true antagonist, who has been using Jun to get rid of Satoru and the other Devil Beasts so she can rule the world.

  • Adaptational Villainy: In the manga, she is an anti-heroine who genuinely cares for Jun and wants to save the world with her, while in the anime, she's revealed to be the Big Bad who's been using Jun.
  • A God Am I: Asuka proclaims herself the Child of God upon going One-Winged Angel.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: In the anime, she is the leader of the conspiracy in the Human Alliance to Take Over the World with herself as its god, and fights against Satoru, who himself seeks world domination and competes with her to control the planet. She wins, making her the Final Boss.
  • Evil All Along: She is initially portrayed as the Anti-Hero she was in the manga, but is actually using Jun to conquer the world and eliminate her competition.
  • Gender Flip: A complicated case. In the manga, Asuka was born male, but switched to female at puberty with her psychic powers before returning to male at the end. In the anime, Asuka was instead born as a Hermaphrodite, similar to the original Satan.
  • Hermaphrodite: She has a female-looking body but male genitalia.
  • Light Is Not Good: She has blonde hair and, in her Child of God form, looks absolutely angelic. She is also a manipulative sociopath who wants to subjugate humanity with her light.
  • Psycho Lesbian: The psycho part is completely averted in the manga, but played straight in the anime.
  • The Sociopath: She is revealed to have been using Jun for her own selfish purposes to destroy earth and humanity. Completely averted in the manga, however, as she is a good person like Jun.
  • Take Over the World: Her real goal as the Child of God is to rule over the world with her light, and Satoru is a threat to that.
  • Treacherous Advisor: She recruited and mentors Jun to fight against Satoru and his Devil Beast army only to get rid of her competition in world domination.
