    Superman

Name: Kal-El/Clark Kent

Age: 39

Race: Kryptonian

Title: The Man of Steel

Chosen Voice Actor: George Newbern

Stage: Metropolis

Playstyle: Kryptonian Protector (Slugger/Install)

  • All-Loving Hero: Probably one of the most empathetic and compassionate characters in the roster.
  • Badass Cape: Always a classic, he still wears a red cape.
  • Birds of a Feather: He gets along with Aang, as they both possess a lot of compassion and understand the burden of being The Paragon.
  • Eye Beams: Heat Vision is one of his most famous powers.
  • Friend to All Children: His friendship has Clark living up to his moniker as "The Big Blue Boyscout" by helping a group of scouts help an old lady cross the street. He even saves them from getting run over by a speeding car.
  • Ideal Hero: He's Superman, so this is a given. Other paragons of virtue like Captain America and All-Might seem to acknowledge this, and he feels the same about them as well. Those from more cynical worlds like Starlight agree.
  • Nice Guy: Naturally, Clark will often go out of his way to praise some of his more heroic opponents before and after battle. On some occasions, he tries to appeal to the better nature of anti-heroes, and even some villains like Darth Vader.
  • The Power of the Sun: The source of Superman's power is the earth's yellow sun.
  • Signature Move: Utilizes the famous Superman punch in his moveset.
  • Super-Breath: Can be used to knock his opponents back or to freeze them (at the cost of some of his super meter).
  • Super Mode: His "Sun Dip" mode is this to a "T". Superman's attacks are increased and he takes even less damage. In this mode he can utilize the "Infinite Mass Punch" and it is described as being a practical One-Hit Kill move.
  • Weak to Magic: One of Superman's few weaknesses is a vulnerability to magic.
  • Worthy Opponent:
    • Despite his annoyance with Goku from time to time, it's clear that he does respect him as his ending points out. Furthermore, he refuses to let Goku Black ruin Goku's good name in his victory quote against the former.
    • He regards Gojo as one as well, wanting to see if his Infinite Mass Punch can break though Gojo's Infinity.

    Deathstroke

Name: Slade Wilson

Age: 40s-50s (appears older)

Race: Human (mutagenic)

Title: Deathstroke the Terminator

Chosen Voice Actor: Ron Perlman

Stage: Gotham in Winter

Playstyle: All-Purpose Termination (Zoner/Setup)

  • Boom Stick: His energy staff can be used in a special move.
  • Energy Weapon: His lance can fire a laser.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: While he is a mercenary for hire who kills for money, he draws the line at working with Vought due to how deep their corruption runs.
  • Guns Akimbo: His rapid shot move has him fire two sub-machine guns at the same time.
  • Malevolent Masked Man: He's the DC Universe's premier assassin who wears a mask.
  • Sword and Gun: He utilizes a sword and a variety of firearms.
  • Walking Armory: Slade is armed head to toe with a variety of weapons from guns, a sword, knives, grenades, and an energy lance.

    Lex Luthor

Name: Alexander Joseph Luthor

Age: 45

Race: Human

Title: Archenemy of Superman

Chosen Voice Actor: Clancy Brown

Stage: Lexcorp Secret Laboratories

Playstyle: Krypton Crusher (All-Rounder/Heavy)

  • Arch-Enemy: See his title. He exists to make Superman's life horrible.
  • Ascended Meme: Remember those 40 cakes he stole back in his childhood (And That's Terrible)? Well, in his Friendship, Lex gives back the cakes, along with an apology note.
  • Badass Normal: Beyond his warsuit and super-genius intellect, Lex has no superpowers.
  • Bald of Evil: Probably the most iconic example of this trope. He is a bald supervillain and ruthless executive.
  • Force Field: Can use this as a special move that either reflects projectiles or stuns an enemy after they physically hit it.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: His animosity towards Superman stems from this, as he feels Superman and his abilities will always overshadow him despite his genius. Before Superman, Lex was Metropolis' premiere citizen.
  • Insufferable Genius: Lex loves to boast about his intellectual superiority.
  • Jet Pack: His suit is capable of flight from the thrusters from its arms and legs.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: His "All-Out Assault" special move fires out numerous missiles from the suit.
  • Meet the New Boss: Makes it clear to Maeve, A-Train, and Starlight that he plans on taking over Vought International. If Lex wins against any of them, it's implied he plans on firing them all.
  • You Will Not Evade Me: Can use his "Gravity Beam" attack to pull opponents close to him. If they are already in close range the attack is followed by a haymaker.

    Green Arrow

Name: Oliver Queen

Age: 35

Race: Human

Title: The Emerald Archer

Chosen Voice Actor: Alan Tudyk

Stage: Star City

Playstyle: Survivalist Archer (Zoner)

  • Badass Normal: He is just a dude with a lot of money and trick arrows.
  • Trick Arrow: The Trope Codifier of this trope. Green Arrow uses an assortment of trick arrows as part of his movesets. Among these arrows include a Tornado Arrownote , a Boomerang Arrownote , a Boxing Glove Arrownote , a Taser Arrownote , an Exploding Arrownote , and a Spiral Arrownote

    The Flash

Name: Barry Allen

Age: 32

Race: Mutagenic Human

Title: The Fastest Man Alive

Chosen Voice Actor: James Arnold Taylor (formerly Grant Gustin)

Stage: Star City Square

Race: Mutated Human

Title: The Clown Prince of Crime

Chosen Voice Actor: Lucas Schuneman (formerly Mark Hamill)

Stage: Joker's Funland

Playstyle: Joke's On You (Trickster/All-Rounder)

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: With that luscious tan, those ruby lips, and hair color so natural, only your undertaker knows for sure!
  • Arch-Enemy: The eternal nemesis of the Batman, something he very much prides himself on.
  • Badass Normal: Is easily one of the most dangerous villains in the DCU despite lacking any superpowers.
  • Combat Sadomasochist: Whether dishing out pain or receiving it, Joker laughs all the way through, as though it's all a big joke to him.
  • The Corrupter: The reason Harley Quinn went from being a psychologist to his henchgirl/lover was because of the Joker's influence. In fact, Joker is so skilled in drawing out people's inner demons and the psychotic aspect of their persona that even Superman had fallen prey to his manipulations.
  • Crowbar Combatant: Uses a crowbar in combat.
  • Death Dealer: Throws razor-sharp playing cards.
  • Die Laughing: His Joker Venom literally inflicts this on his victims by making them laugh themselves to death.
  • Electric Joybuzzer: One of his trademark party gags themed weapons. Works as a parry move just like in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.
  • Evil Laugh: A staple of the character, his intro and outro quotes will sometimes have him break out into laughter.
  • Evil Has a Bad Sense of Humor: Loves to crack sadistic jokes during his evil deeds.
  • Go Out with a Smile: A dark example. His Joker Venom makes his victims laugh to death while leaving them with a haunting smile on their face.
  • Insult Backfire: He regards Goku Black using him as an example to wipe out all mortals as a compliment.
  • In Love with Your Carnage: He is attracted to Esdeath's cruelty and declared her his new Harley.
  • Joker Immunity: Subverted, despite being the Trope Namer. He's just as vulnerable to death by violence as any combatant in the game, and in Red Hood's ending, we get to see Jason shoot him in the head as soon as he goes home to Gotham.
  • Large Ham: He just loves his theatrics...
  • Mysterious Past: No one knows who the Joker was before he became the Clown Prince of Crime, not even the Joker himself. He has multiple inconsistent backstories, but the only thing that can be confirmed is that he fell into a vat of chemicals that bleached his skin, turned his hair green, and locked his face in a near-perpetual smile.
  • Poison Is Evil: One of his fatalities involves the utilization of his infamous Joker toxin.
  • Slasher Smile: Constantly has a too-wide grin, as do victims of his Joker Venom.
  • There Can Be Only One: He tells Ren Amamiya that there can only be one Joker.
  • The Sociopath: All the Joker cares about is spreading mayhem in theatrical manners and trying to bring Batman down to his level.

    Doomsday

Name: Doomsday

Age: Millenia

Race: Kryptonian (gene-altered)

Title: The One who Killed Superman

Chosen Voice Actor: Khary Payton

Stage: Metropolis in Ruins

Playstyle: Adaptive Destruction (Heavy/Technical)

  • Adaptational Intelligence: He can communicate in fluent sentences to his opponents, whereas in his debut Death Battle, he just growled and roared a lot, or used one-word sentences. He can also be considered this to most incarnations, who are usually a Feral Villain and The Berserker.
  • Adaptive Ability: Just like in canon, he can adapt to just about anything. In gameplay, this is used in a Super Move where Doomsday covers his body in bone-like armor, boosting his strength and stamina at the cost of speed and becomes unable to flinch. When the move's duration ends, Doomsday throws out his arms and the bones explode outward like shrapnel to damage opponents.
  • The Dreaded: Just like canon, he is feared by just about everyone who knows about him due to his murderous tendencies and inability to stay dead.
Wonder Woman: "Gods help us all..."
  • Hero Killer: Infamously killed Superman in his debut and killed Hulk in their Death Battle.

Name: Richard "Dick" Grayson

Age: 245,000

Race: New God

Title: Lord of Apokolips

Chosen Voice Actor: Christopher Judge

Stage: Apokolips Arena

Playstyle: Omega Overlord (Heavy/Setups)

  • Affably Evil: Surprisingly, yes. In his Friendship, Darkseid puts on a Santa hat and offers to give a little boy everything he wants for Christmas, in exchange for the boy pledging his loyalty to Apokolips.
  • Always Accurate Attack: Darkseid's Omega Beams are impossible to dodge without absolutely perfect timing thanks to how they can lock onto a target's specific atomic frequency, and good luck reacting in time when he can also turn them invisible or phase them through objects that aren't the target.
  • Assist Character: Can summon his parademons just like in Injustice 2.
  • The Dreaded: Like most works he is featured in, he is easily feared by pretty much everyone. Steven admits he'd rather go back to fighting with The Diamonds than battle Darkseid.

Lord Raiden: "I feared your arrival. Now you are here."
Raven: "You honestly scare me more than Trigon."

Doctor Strange: "There's more to you than what I witnessed. I dread it."
  • Eviler than Thou: Magneto sees him as worse than Thanos.
Magneto: "A threat greater than Thanos...I prayed this day would never come."
  • Eye Beams: His trademark Omega Beams are described as being maneuverable and have erratic movements making them difficult to predict. Are utilized in his fatality Heated Gaze where Darkseid uses them to disintegrate his opponent.
  • Fantastic Racism: He regards Curses like Mahito as parasites.
"Dependent on human emotions to exist, then causing them further pain. You curses really are just parasites."
  • Fate Worse than Death: His second fatality involves infecting his opponent with the Omega Sanction. There, the opponent is shown repeatedly dying in horrific ways.

  • Healing Factor: He can completely heal from a puddle of blood.
  • Hidden Depths: Lobo loves dolphins, so naturally he's excited to be facing Tifa, who uses dolphins in one of her attacks. Likewise, it's why he's pissed at the Deep for accidentally killing one.

  • Pyrrhic Victory: Jason's ending has him finally kill the Joker in revenge, but he ends up imprisoned in a high-security sector of the Gotham County Prison, with a disappointed Bruce Wayne asking Jason why he went through with it, all the while the ashamed Jason could only admit he can't be like his mentor.

  • The Dark Side: Unlike other DC speedsters, Thawne draws his abilities from the Negative Speed Force.
  • Doppelgänger Attack: Many of his moves involves his alternative selves.
  • Evil Is Petty: Probably one of the biggest examples in all of DC, his primary goal is to make Barry's life miserable over a prophecy that didn't favor him. He's also petty enough to screw with the other combatants.
  • Eviler than Thou: He claims that he's killed Kronika several times over.
"Agent of Kronika? Please. I killed her in more timelines than I can count!"
  • For the Evulz: He had no real reason to mess with Lucy, Tracer, and the rest the way he did, but did so anyway, for fun.

Humorously enough, he has a party with them in his Friendship with them chatting about ruining Barry's life or rigging the next battle. In his rival cutscene, he also uses them to figure out a way to escape, but to no avail.
  • Not Me This Time: For all the claims of him screwing over quite a few of the characters, he admits that he's not responsible for Guts, Dan, and Rick's problems. It's also Played for Laughs when he tells Scooby Doo that he did not create Velma. He also states he has nothing to do with Wile E. Coyote's traps backfiring on him and didn't get Kyle Rayner's girlfriend Stuffed in the Fridge, though he absolutely would've done the latter if given the chance.
(Vs. Guts): "Your life's all KINDS of screwed-up? Kicker was I had nothin' to do with it!"
(Vs. Rick) "I don't need to mess up your life. You did that just fine all on your own, Rick-O."
(Vs. Dan) "I didn't do anything to you, Danny-boy. You're DESTINED to be a laughingstock and nothing can change that!"
(Vs. Scooby-Doo) "...No, I wasn't behind that Mindy Kaling fiasco. Even I have standards."
(Vs. White Lantern) "I didn't fridge your girl, Kyle. But I absolutely would have!"
(Vs. Wile E.) "Your traps backfiring? It was...NOT me. Your luck just sucks."

  • Success as Revenge: In his arcade ending instead of using Mastermind's technology to turn Barry Allen's life into hell, he simply decided to create his entire timeline when he would never meet Barry Allen. With his time reset, he could return to just being a 25th Century scientist.
