    Liev

There isn’t much info on the H.A.D.E.S. (Hexacore Advanced Division for Extraction and Search) special agent, codename Liev. Most probably he was born in Russia and has a Russian military record. Follows orders and procedures without any care about their consequences or collateral damage. The mission is his creed. Perfectly trained in hand-to-hand, cold weapon and firearms combat.

He also used to be H.A.D.E.S. agent Ivan Radek. But following the supposed deaths of Foster and Reyes, Washington DC wanted him disposed of, but H.A.D.E.S. leadership gave him his current name as they value his skillset.

  • Asshole Victim: While he was wrongfully blamed for being a traitor to Hexacore and for causing the outbreak, it's hard to feel bad for him when he dies since he's a gloating, sociopathic Jerkass who killed innocent people just to survive.
  • Cool Mask: Well he wouldn't be a proper HUNK expy if he wasn't running around with a gas mask with red lenses.
  • Corrupted Character Copy: Is clearly one to HUNK from the Resident Evil series. Although he doesn't share HUNK's luck of living through all kinds of incidents as well as how Liev is boastful and did openly evil things such as massacre while HUNK is never seen nor reported committing the evils Umbrella were infamous of.
  • Decoy Protagonist: Despite being the first player character, Liev is revealed as the game's main villain after the prologue level and eventually mutates into a powerful monster known as the Abomination. The real protagonists of the game are Sam and Raven.
  • Evil Gloating: Liev is a bit too fond of gloating rather than just getting straight to the point. This ends up causing Raven to mistakenly believe he was the traitor, because he's too busy bragging about how he's going to execute Sandman to state that he was the traitor. In a later confrontation he once again gloats about getting the better of Sandman instead of just shooting him, and gets his arm torn off for his trouble.
  • Gas Mask Mook: As noted earlier in Cool Mask, he dons a HUNK-like gas mask and helmet.
  • Just Following Orders: Liev follows his orders to the letter when he executes any Hexacore personnel during the outbreak, even if they help him get out of a jam.
  • Nominal Hero: He may be the protagonist and the first character you play as, but he really isn't a compassionate person. Survival is the only thing on his mind and anyone in his way is getting out of it, one way or another.
  • Not Me This Time: Liev is a Jerkass who's abrasive to his comrades and is a little too sadistic in silencing witnesses to be just a Punch-Clock Villain, but the end reveals that it was Sandman who was the real traitor, and Liev was simply wrongly blamed.
  • Sociopathic Soldier: He isn't a good person, he only cares about himself and surviving. He is also very fond of doing some Evil Gloating.
  • Token Evil Teammate: He is part of the cleanup crew for the outbreak, after all.

    Raven
Raven is a Senior Pilot of the Hexacore Air Force unit called “4RG0 Delta” as well as a member of the Crimson Skulls. He used to be a NASA pilot, but was discharged after a failed mission, the details of which are highly classified. All that is known is that a comrade lost his life in action. Raven still carries marks of the accident on his skin.
  • Action Genre Hero Guy: He ticks quite a few boxes for the attributes needed to be this trope.
  • Establishing Character Moment: During the chapter you play as him, he is shown to be the most level-headed of all the playable characters, even feeling bad with the places and the people around the town that he frequented with before.
  • Noodle Incident: The incident Raven got involved in prior to joining Hexacore was never made public.
  • Token Good Teammate: Compared to the sociopathic Liev, the traitorous Sandman and the morally ambiguous Sarah, Raven is this.

    Samuel Walker
Sam is a ranger of the Redcrest Mountains, where the Vermilion Forest branches out to surround Keen Sight. Like some other Keen Sight citizens, he suffers from a medical condition known as “Daymare Syndrome” that causes anxiety disorder, paranoia and hallucinations. Although not proven, there is a possible link between Samuel’s condition and the presence of the government corporation Hexacore Biogenetics in the area.

  • Action Survivor: Sam is just a small town Firewatch lookout in the forests of Keen Sight.
  • Disposable Woman: His wife has only two speaking scenes in the start of Samuel's section before she is killed by a mutated Sandman.
  • Red Is Heroic: He wears a red plaid shirt and is one of the playable characters.

Hexacore:

    Sandman

  • Big Bad: The ultimate cause of the outbreak.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Sandman betrayed Hexacore and caused the outbreak in the hopes of saving his terminally ill daughter. Sadly, she died.
