New World Order

The members of the New World Order, a revolutionary group of Nations and Micronations who wish to change the world as we know it.

     General
  • Ancient Conspiracy: The leaders of the NWO first met during the War of the Austrian Succession (1740-1748), making the New World Order over two centuries old.
  • Beneath the Mask: The NWO Nations act like they do in canon, unless they are with only (a) fellow NWO member(s), before the main plot begins. All the NWO members are considerably more ruthless and even cruel than they appear to be.
    • Some of them appear to like or at least be fine with certain individuals, but carry undying hatred for them.
    • In other times, they seem to despise others, but carry a certain fondness for them, or even more feelings.
  • Benevolent Conspiracy: For the greater good of the world, huh? (Or...according to the NWO, at least.)
  • Best Served Cold: Most members have been biding their time for decades, if not centuries.
  • Child Soldiers: Appears as part of the NWO members' backstories.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Several members of the NWO.
  • Cruel to Be Kind: To the NWO members, Prussia to Germany, Austria to Hungary, Switzerland to Liechtenstein.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Most NWO members.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Played with. A lot. This is the case only if the NWO is considered as 'evil'.
    • Implied to be zigzagged when concerning the North American Siblings (Children of Native). America and Mexico to Canada is an aversion. However, the two Siblings who are in the NWO do care about each other very much.
    • Played Straight for Bulgaria to Turkey and Lithuania. Chapter 35 reveals that he is extremely protective of them.
Narrator, from Bulgaria's Po V: Anyone who hurts them dies.
  • Faction Motto: Change the world or die trying.
  • Fallen Hero: The NWO members. Almost definitely.
  • Knight Templar: The NWO members can be considered this.
  • Never Hurt an Innocent: Averted. Didn't the NWO kill off most of the Caribbean even though they never wronged them?
    • They did decide to give them a short and considerably less painful death, so that must count for something...
  • Secret Relationship: Most notably, America/North Korea and Haiti/DR.
  • Tragic Hero / Tragic Villain: Some of the NWO, depending on your perspective.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: They want to change the world for the better (in their eyes, at least), but their methods are rather...questionable, to say the least.
  • Would Hit a Girl: The NWO members don't discriminate against gender as long as you're in their way.

     Austria
  • Affably Evil: For someone who had a very frustated and somewhat aloof facade, is done with the world, and is one of the leaders of an organization mostly comprised of cold to unstable to extremely sadistic nations, he is surprisingly patient, friendly and polite.
  • Benevolent Boss: Alongside Prussia, he is looked upon fondly by the other members of the Order and they try their best to ease their followers' burden during the masquerade. And Austria has been shown to clearly care for others. He cares for his subordinates and their happiness so much that he willingly subjected himself to take care of all the paperwork and other painful duties by himself in a secluded location so that the other members would be free to carry out their duties and have fun as they wished.
  • The Chessmaster: Is one of the people responsible for manipulating events in the Order's favor and slowly building up his organization to conquer the world and overthrow the 'world order' for a new era of peace.
  • Emotion Suppression: Is revealed to have been his manner of enduring the pain, stress and suffering during the years of the masquerade in order to maintain his sanity. He even literally shuts down and blanks out his mind, switching to a kind of 'autopilot' while he speaks with those around him.
  • Safety in Indifference: Repeatedly tells himself to shut down along with his emotions so that he wouldn't face the guilt of having his wife harmed as a consequence to his plans.
  • Stepford Smiler: He's shown to be one in his flashback in Chapter 83 while he speaks with Hungary and others. And it's safe to say that it's probably how he was most of the time.

     Prussia
  • Affably Evil: He's surprisingly pleasant for one of the leaders of the New World Order and he's even polite with his enemies, including the brother he's done nothing but lied to. Not so much with the humans though.
  • The Chessmaster: Is one of the people responsible for manipulating events in the Order's favor and slowly building up his organization to conquer the world and overthrow the 'world order' for a new era of peace.
  • Humans Are Bastards: Believes this firmly with all the times the personfications have been screwed over by humankind, to the point where he believes that its they, the nations, who should rule the land they represent instead of allowing a greedy race to control them.
  • Stepford Smiler: Given his loud and abrasive fake personality and the real thing, he certainly was one. Prussia has been faced with heavy guilt with the things he has done, both to his brother and his own loyal allies, and was forced to maintain his false cheer for centuries. It had to have been painful.

     America
  • Affably Evil: As one of the 'safe' nations of the Order, he's actually a pretty chill guy and a genuinely nice person when with other members or nations he genuinely cares about. However, to anyone outside of that group...
  • Genius Bruiser: He's still just as much of a powerhouse as ever, if not even more so. His status as the world superpower coupled with revelation that he's not the airheaded food-loving idiot most people thought he was makes him even more terrifying. And an inner monologue reveals that he's actually been holding back with his monster strength. It's possible that's he's not only the strongest, but one of the smartest in the group. His intelligence has even been acknowledged by several Order nations. And then there's the fact that it turns out that Prussia and Austria specifically chose him to be the world superpower.
  • Only Sane Man: He's a lot calmer and focused than many of his quirkier or gleefully sadistic friends. He's even expressed his frustration at this more than once.
  • Kick the Dog: He does this to Canada when the latter intrudes in the former's phone call with France to talk some reason into America. His response after a lengthy period of silence? This. Keep in mind that Canada's still really broken up by America's betrayal.
America: "…I'm sorry, did someone talk? Because I sure didn't hear anything like it. I heard nothing, nothing at all. Eh, it was probably the wind, probably nothing even close to being important or worth questioning or talking about. So, really, who cares? I don't."
  • The Strategist: It's been mentioned and shown that along with being intelligent, he's a good strategist. He was the one who devised the whole plan to convince Georgia to join the New World Order and help return Abkhazia and South Ossetia's lands to in less than a day.

     Switzerland
  • Aloof Older Brother: Played straight instead of subverting it as seen in canon. While he's at first kind enough towards Liechtenstein when she unexpectedly shows up at his house while some of the Africans were staying over, he then slowly becomes rude, cold and neglectful towards her. This comes back to bite him later.
  • Ambiguously Gay: His monologues about his loyalty towards Austria, and the the bitter mood he was in when he attended Austria and Hungary's wedding in a flasback in chapter 54, or just his segment in that chapter, raises some questions...
  • Berserk Button: Don't ever question his loyalty to the Order, 'nuff said.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Heck, he's probably the king of deadpan snark of this story, even beating Belize and Romania when it comes to this trope.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Even though he's ruthless and shares a mutual hatred for humanity, Switzerland's made it clear that he's disgusted by the Africans and their tastes. He was also pissed off when he found them taking turns taking a bite off Mauritius and when he discovered Morocco practically sexually assaulted Mauritius. Although, he does (grudgingly) acknowledge their power.
  • Humans Are Insects: Switzerland really, really looks down on humanity. While he does acknowledge his and Austria's own part in causing their relationship to deteriorate, he mostly blames the humans for ruining it. So, he's very much looking forward to overthrowing them and ruling over his nation himself.
  • Hypocrite: Was pissed off at Liechtenstein when he finds out that she was helping Hungary investigate what was going on in the basement behind his back, therefore 'betraying' him, when he's spent many years lying to Liechtenstein and probably even plotting for her to become part of the Order's empire against her will.
  • Undying Loyalty: He's unflinchingly loyal to the New World Order and very devoted to its cause.

     Turkey
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Oh yes, don't let his easygoing joking nature fool you. This is the same guy who manipulated a resentful member of his empire to become his slavishly devoted lover, helped figure out the method of how to influence humans to his advantage, was one of the early members of the Order, and is perfectly okay with helping Bulgaria going after Moldova because Romania insulted Turkey (even though he himself didn't care) just because. He's also shown to be incredibly sadistic.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Circumstances and methods regarding how the relationship came to be aside, Turkey seems to truly care about Bulgaria, and gets angry at the idea of seeing his lover hurt (even knowing Bulgaria's masochism). He also cares about the other members too, and he once went out of his way to help the other nations, who weren't that close with all of the other members present, bond together even though he didn't have to.
  • Faux Affably Evil: He's a decent, cheerful and friendly guy to his pals in the Order, but to anyone else he's an extremely sadistic, remorseless killer.
  • Evil Is Hammy: His dialogue and monologues during the flashback chapters can be pretty dramatic or over-the-top.
  • It Amused Me: One of the reasons he wanted a lover for himself. He thought it'd be fun to have a nation, whose ties with other nations were always bound to become strained or broken at some point, happily under his control.
  • The Corrupter: He deliberately and gleefully corrupted Bulgaria into becoming his lover and the insane love-sick man he is today. Turkey was well aware that Bulgaria had very few friends in the Ottoman Empire and took advantage of it, along with the common knowledge that friendships between nations are often broken so that he could grant Bulgaria's desire of having a friend that'll never leave him, to absolutely drive him insane with love.
  • Perpetual Smiler: He's almost always in a good mood, whether it'd be discussing a plan, being with his friends, lying flat on the ground after getting shot by police, and laughing at Egypt's pain.
  • Villain Respect: He holds a lot of respect for Prussia and Austria, and he acknowledges America as a genius.

     Lithuania
  • Ax-Crazy: Implied to be under his cool, somewhat collected exterior. Although Lithuania himself doesn't seem to acknowledge this. But when he kills Poland in cold blood, he loses it for a brief moment. He starts laughing and mocking at his old friend, and then completely goes nuts when he thought he saw Poland's hand move. One just has to wonder if he really is that much more sane than Bulgaria after all?
  • Berserk Button: Anytime Bulgaria does or says something dumb, although this is Played for Laughs and is often the source of comic relief. He becomes much more terrifying after confronting Poland.
  • The Stoic: Subverted. He's serious a lot of the time, but he's prone to snapping at Bulgaria's empty-headedness and he's openly affectionate towards [[spoilder: his little sister Vilnius]].
  • Not So Stoic: Again, the Laughing Mad moment and the Bulgaria thing. He also had this period in chapter 95 where he laughed madly, again, while being chased and attacked by Russia. This was during a confrontation about Belarus’ death.
  • Odd Couple: He's best friends with Bulgaria, a nation who's obssessed and completely devoted to his beloved Turkey. They spend a lot of their screen-time having heavily one-sided arguments on Lithuania's part while Bulgaria just happily nods along, but they deeply care for each other.

     Bulgaria
  • Ax-Crazy: And how. He might just be one of the craziest nations of the group.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Is said to basically be one of the main reasons why Bulgaria fell in love with Turkey.
  • Berserk Button: Don't ever insult or threaten his beloved. Romania did once and it pissed off Bulgaria so much that he decided to go after Moldova, a child, to get back at him. The only implied exception to this rule is Lithuania.
  • Combat Sadomasochist: Is this big time. He relishes pain, even more to very disturbing levels if it's his lover who's the one dishing it out, enjoying the attention from Turkey that comes with it. But he also loves torturing people all the same.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: This is pretty much his default state. He's ditzy, distracted and in a constant state of euphoria. This tends to annoy a few nations. It's even more noticeable if he's with his 'beloved', during which he's almost completely focused on him. This vanishes quickly if someone insults, or worse, hurts Turkey right in front of him, or he's present in an important or serious conversation or if Turkey orders him to get serious.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Is stated to be the this at times. Is it really that much of a surprise?
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones:
    • As insane as he is, he truly loves Turkey despite what he put him through, and would do anything to make him happy. He's devastated whenever Turkey is disappointed in him and euphoric whenever he praises him. However, it's this love that drives Bulgaria to kill anyone who dares insult or threaten the man he loves, and Turkey happily encourages him.
    • His friendship with Lithuania is genuine too. According to Lithuania himself, Bulgaria just suddenly approached him and declared themselves friends, and the two remain close despite the former's temper to this day. Bulgaria's also shown to care about members as well.
    • Bulgaria is very fond of Vilnius, his best friend's little sister, and cares about her just as much as Lithuania does.
  • Happiness in Slavery: It's very clear that he relishes following Turkey's every command and being completely under his control. He wouldn't have it any other any way.
  • Humans Are Bastards: Carries an extremely strong grudge towards humans for separating him from Turkey for about five decades, having a very low opinion of them as a result.
  • Mad Love: Oh boy. Bulgaria's completely in love with Turkey and will happily do anything he asks him to. He's so head over heels that he'd go after a child to get back at someone who insulted his lover.
  • Sycophantic Servant: Bulgaria is extremely eager to worship Turkey and serve him in any way possible. He's such a sycophant that while he, Turkey were travelling with other nations to help Georgia, they had to order him off-screen to hold in the urge to lick Turkey's boots and be completely openly affectionate toward him so not to attract any attention. And let's not get into how he's perfectly willing and happy to be a punching bag for Turkey whenever his beloved wishes it (although seeing as he's a masochist, it's hardly an issue for him), and how it's implied that things get pretty violent in bed...
  • Too Kinky For Torture: His time under Turkey turned him into a complete masochists who especially gets off of the physical pain his lover inflicts on him. Bulgaria states that his beloved was welcome to do anything to him.

     South Africa
  • Ax-Crazy: Under all that chill and friendliness, he's batshit insane like the other Africans.
  • Badass Boast: Makes an awesome one when he's about to fight Russia right after taunting him:
South Africa: "Go ahead; think you’re the world’s worst monster, a mad genius, the future king of the world, that you’ve been through it all or whatever that rotten brain of yours comes up with. In the end, you’re going to get a bitter taste of reality. But me? I’m HATRED personified. I represent the never-ending hatred between races and the unnecessary cruelty and bloodshed that comes with it. I revel in it all! Try as you might, but you can’t make me go away. I’ll live, one way or another. But I’m not going to get beaten by the likes of you.
  • Bring It: As mentioned in an above trope, he does this with Russia, making it clear he's not scared in the slightest.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: As much as he hates almost every single being on the planet, he truly does care about the New World Order and he's very close friends with his fellow Africans in the group. And, while this love is twisted and mixed with hatred, he does care about his former colonizer the Netherlands, enough to even spare him in their first fight instead of killing or capturing him.
  • Faux Affably Evil: He acts pretty friendly, if not mocking, when confronted by or confronting enemies. However, he'll immediately discard this when it's time to tear them apart.
  • It Amused Me: Basically his reasons for tormenting Lesotho, bombing Egypt's capital (aside from revenge) and tricking the Netherlands into believing that Luxembourg was permanently dead.
  • The Power of Hate: He's practically stated that it's the power driving him forward. And at one point while explaining his reasons for being the way he was to Russia, he's stated that over being torn in his loyalties by the whites and the natives, he decided that he hated everyone. The Apartheid and after only served to make this worse.
  • Sadist: And how. One of the worst in the whole group.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Thought that South Africa would have a soft spot for Lesotho, a child he's helped and taken care of for years? WRONG. He has absolutely no problem with threatening to bomb Lesotho if the other Africans don't comply with the Order's demands (even though a later chapter reveals this was a bluff, it's obvious he'd do it without hesitation) and he enjoys torturing the scared kid by acting like his 'normal' self only to switch back the moment Lesotho wants to leave, giving subtle threats, and rubbing it in his face that it would take absolutely no effort for South Africa to crush him if he wanted. Then there's how South Africa casually mentions that it'd be cute to chain Lesotho up and force him to act like a puppy. The idea excites him.

     Nigeria
  • Ax-Crazy: Boy, he doesn't bother to hide just how insane he is.
  • Blood Lust: Comes with his cannibalistic urges and violent personality.
  • Dull Surprise: He takes his temporary death via being impaled by a death god during the Mauritius rescue mission... pretty well, actually. Whether or not this may have been influenced by the plan he and Switzerland had formed in case their side lost is unknown, but the trope still applies.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Sure he's crazy, but he also cares deeply for his fellow members, was genuinely concerned for America when he believed the latter was under a hex, and while he does hold a strong grudge against Igbo for the civil war, he still wishes for them to bond as family... by massacring people while the man is under his conrol, but it counts.
  • Giggling Villain: He really loves gigging or cackling at his enemies' faces.
  • Hidden Depths: He agreed to a deal with Western Sahara where he'd free Igbo from his control with his only demand being that Western Sahara refrain from attempting to contact her family, and even points out how 'nice' he's being when she offered to do anything for Igbo to be released. There's also his bitter monologues about Igbo....
  • Psychopathic Manchild: To complement his deadly and unstable behavior, he's shown giggling and wearing a Slasher Smile when fighting or taunting others, singsonging, thinking Western Sahara as a toy. Don't let it fool you though. He's just as intelligent as the other members.
  • Villainous Friendship: He shares a close friendship with his fellow Africans in the Order and truly cares for their well-being and even has some Ship Tease with South Africa.

     Morocco
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He loves using his polite demeanor to lure others into a false sense of security or creep them out, or both, before attacking/torturing them.
  • Consuming Passion: Gets... rather aroused when engaging in cannibalism.
  • Depraved Homosexual: Yes, indeed he is. He's a lustful, sadistic sociopathic monster who's shown having the hots for several, if not more, male nations. He happily assaults (though doesn't rape) a drugged Mauritius while using his vulnerable state to suggestions to make him reciprocate his advances and wants his brother Tunisia to become his fanatically devoted lover.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He's an unrepentant sadistic and lustful maniac through and through. But he's also very supportive and caring towards his friends, comforts Cameroon when the latter felt guilty over forgetting to keep him safe. his love for Tunisia, while immensely twisted, is genuine and wants his brother to be happy most of all.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: He mockingly berates Tunisia for helping make the gays living in his own country miserable in hopes that it'll 'redeem' himself and doesn't quite like the idea of rape.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: At first he seems like a polite and more friendly sort compared to his more deranged comrades, and even Tunisia has admitted that he's quite good-looking. However, under those mannerisms is a remorseless, hedonistic nation.
  • Faux Affably Evil: He's almost unendingly polite and serene to everyone and even his hated sister all the while he taunts, cruelly tortures, inflicts horrible injuries on them. Under all that niceness is a bloodthirsty monster.
  • The Hedonist: Is a self-admitted one. He's addicted to physical pleasure, whether it'd be through sex or torture, wants almost nothing more than to indulge in his desires, encourages others to get a taste of pleasure, and calls himself someone who's free of the constraints of society.
  • Incest-ant Admirer: Morocco is completely determined to make his brother Tunisia embrace his homosexual urges and return his feelings for him, therefore 'saving' him from his self-destructive morals, whether it'd be by seducing him, forcibly kissing him or psychologically torturing him. Tunisia is understandably horrified by Morocco's attraction to him and is always terrified of encountering him again.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Yeah, loveable might be really stretching it, but he's kind and supportive to his friends, happily accepts Cameroon's rejection of his advances, and can be an enjoyable character when not molesting male nations.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: When at one point Switzerland says he'll shoot Morocco if he's pissed off by the latter's explanation for essentially assaulting Mauritius after specifically being told not to, Morocco simply smiles basically says that its fine, and that way, Switzerland can do whatever he wants with his corpse
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: He's calm, serene and polite while either torturing someone, molesting a male nation, gloating in Algeria's face and trying to break his beloved brother Tunisia.
  • Terms of Endangerment: Lovingly likes to refer to Tunisia as his 'sweet' or 'darling' brother.
  • Yandere: Has shades of this towards his own brother Tunisia. Morocco has an unhealthy obsession with making his brother completely his and 'saving' him from his suffering. But despite his intentions, he has no compunctions about gleefully tormenting and even hurting Tunisia, even when not for the sake of pushing him over the edge. He fantasizes about what he wants to do to Tunisia, punishes his brother for helping heal France by using his repressed feelings against him in a cruel trick, and attempts to gaslight him into believing receiving Morocco's cruelty is his own fault. And it has been made clear in a conversation with Western Sahara that Morocco desires to turn Tunisia into a completely devoted slave just like how Turkey did to Bulgaria.
