     Elsa Snow
  • Adaptational Personality Change: She grew up with a father who taught her how to properly control her emotions and is better at expressing herself emotional, making her more stable. However she is still worried about harming others with her powers or them finding out of fear of being considered a freak. Given her past experiences this is reasonable.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Shes was considered a freak in every school she went too as a child due to her odd behaviors and pale complexion. The Asgardians also look down on her for being part Jotun and it is likely that she would be shunned by the Jotuns for being so small.
  • Badass Book Worm: She loves to read in her spare time, nows every Norse Myth and can freeze the whole country if she wanted.
  • Broken Bird: She is this somewhat due to an entire childhood of being bullied, considered a freak and a monster by those who see her powers, and her fathers death.
  • Daddy's Girl: She still cries over her father
  • Fatal Flaw: While not fatal so to speak but she does tend to hold onto grudges for a while.
  • Friendless Background: Up until she went to college and met Joan every kid she ever met either bullied her, ignored her or called her a monster.
  • Glass Cannon: Like in the film, she has incredible ice powers, but is in all other respects a normal human.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Her mother is the winter goddess Skadi and her dad was a normal human named Henry.
  • Hates Being Touched: By Strangers.
  • Has a Type: She likes redheadded girls with freckles and a bubbly/fun personality, thats one of the reasons she gets over her childhood resentment for Anna when they meet as adults.
  • Hot Witch
  • Ice Queen: She has been called the Snow Queen more than once.
  • Parental Abandonment: She was abandoned by her mother the winter giantess Skadi for being too small.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: She accidentally destroyed a restaurant bathroom and almost made it snow all over the country after having a surge of intense rage. According to Joan her power will only get stronger and will be able to encase the whole earth if she wanted.
  • So Beautiful, It's a Curse: Played With, when Elsa hit puberty many of the boys who used to bully her started trying to date her, much to her disgust.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: The Aesir believe Elsa will cause Ragnarok, though given how powerful he is this may not be far off.

     Anna Summers
  • Abusive Parents: Her father cut her off after she accepted that she was gay. Her mother on the other hand still loves her and tries to stay in her life.
  • Action Girl
  • Adorkable: Like in the movie, one of the reasons Elsa loves her.
  • Adaptational Badass: Anna learns how to fight from an Einherjar and gains a special belt from Thor that grants her god-level strength. In the sequel she actually learns how to fight from Joan and becomes a full on Action Girl.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: When she was a kid she was manipulated by her "friends" into thinking it was ok to bully Elsa. She doesnt realize how wrong it was until Elsa transfers schools. She is alot more mature as a adult though.
  • Broken Ace: When she was a kid her dad was mayor, she was popular and well loved by everyone. But after Elsa left her life went down hill. She realized that all her friends were False Friends only using her for money and popularity, she eventually became a bully victim by one of her closest former friends, her father nearly disowned her for being gay and was forced into a loveless relationship with Jerk Jock Kevin Hansen to keep her from being disowned. Its no wonder she latches onto the beautiful, amazing, cold yet caring Elsa Snow.
  • Character Development: She goes from a naive kid who bullies to a Extreme Doormat to a Action Girl over the course of the first "Book".
  • Daddy'sGirl: When she was younger, not so much now...
  • Extreme Doormat: She basically did everything she was told when she was younger to survive. Finally after meeting Elsa and deciding she is done being cowardly she decides to grow a spine.
  • Friendless Background: Subverted, she did have people she thought were her friends but she didnt really get true friends until meeting Elsa and Joan.
  • Hidden Depths: In addition to her intense attraction to Elsa, the reason Anna decides she wants to go with Elsa on a life threatening journey is because she acknowledges she was a coward in the past but wants to change now. Like Elsa she enjoys reading.
  • Has a Type: She loves blondes, also she thinks Elsa's ice powers are amazing.
  • Locked into Strangeness: She gains a white streak in her braid after wielding Skadi's sword.

     Joan Simpson
  • Action Girl: She fought and died in World War One, came back as an immortal einherjar with super-strength, can kick-ass and is immortal.
  • Abusive Parents: According to her, her father wanted sons, not daughters and disapproved of her joining the army, saying she was embarrassing herself.
  • Becoming the Mask: Joan acted like Elsa's friend at first to keep an eye on her to make sure she doesnt cause Ragnarok without killing her. But by the start of the series she genuinely considers Elsa her friend and is very loyal to her.
  • Cool Big Sis: Acts like this to Elsa.
  • Deader than Dead: Since she has already been resurrected once if she dies then she has no afterlife.
  • Deadpan Snarker
  • May Fly December Romance: She dated Kristoff even knowing she would outlive him and stay young while he grew old. She admitted that though she was fine with him being old she haddnt thought much about him dying.
  • Made of Iron: She cannot be killed by anything (Even nukes according to her) except Asgardian metals.
  • My Greatest Failure: She regrets giving the gods the instructions for the Manhattan Project which led to the near extinction of the Jotuns.
  • Shipper on Deck: For Elsa and Anna.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Although Elsa is gay and attracted to her she and Elsa and just friends.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: She didnt kill Elsa despite her orders because she felt Elsa deserved a chance.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: To Kirsotff, platonically to Elsa and Anna as well.
  • World's Strongest Woman: On earth atleast.

     Kristoff Bjoreman

     Kitty/Jormungandr
  • Abusive Parents: Her father is Loki the god of mischief. He apparently wasnt around much during her childhood and did little when she and her siblings were banished from Asgard.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In mythology Jormungandr is a monster who wants to help Loki during Ragnarok and kill Thor For the Evulz. Here she is fairly nice to Anna and only attacks them when she thinks they killed her friend. When she realizes it wasnt their fault she then decides she wants to kill Thor and his granddaughter who actually performed the deed with his hammer when she finds out they did it. She explicitly states that she hates her father and will NOT side with him. That being said she is still antagonistic to Elsa for nearly killing her.
  • All Myths Are True: She is the midgard serpent from Norse Mythology, except when she was banished the earth she didnt land in the ocean, she landed in the Lochness and became the lochness monster.
  • Attention Whore: Played With, she says she enjoys being the lochness monster because of the attention and fame, though she is painfully aware that if people were CERTAIN that she was real they would be more afraid of her.
  • Humanoid Abomination: She can take the form of a human, or transform into a massive-fire breathing, monsterous snake. Or a cat.
  • Friendly Enemy: She's not trying to kill Elsa any more after Anna explains the misunderstanding, but she still doesnt like her.
  • In Series Nick Name: She is called "Kitty" by the people on earth. Since she is also the lochness monster she has also been indirectly called "Nessie".
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She is abrasive to Elsa and Joan and will not hesitate to go on a rampage to destroy her enemies, but she does have a heart and cares deeply for her firends. Including Anna and Yorden. The guy who ran a bar with her, was mistaken for her because of his name among other things and killed by Bulda in-place of her.
  • Logical Weakness: As a fire-jotunn, ice magic can harm her.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Goes on one when she finds out her friend was murdered, destroying most of the entire village.
  • Shapeshifter: A trait of all children of Loki, he/she can change her/his size, appearance and gender. She prefers the form of a 20-something year old girl with blue stripes in her hair.
  • Sealed Evil in a Teddy Bear: Though not evil she is currently stuck in the form of a cat due to Heimdallr putting a magic collar on her so she wouldnt be a threat.
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg: Elsa doesnt consider her a friend and the feeling is mutual.
  • Never My Fault: She still dislikes Elsa for nearly killing her despite the fact that she started the fight first over a misunderstanding.
  • Not Me This Time: Elsas father wanred her to beware the beast with four eyes, he wasnt talking about her.
  • Really 700 Years Old: She has been living for several millennia.

     Kevin and Marcy Hansen
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Marcy likes big muscular men, including Kristoff. Kevin was attracted to Anna and Elsa. All of them find all the twins revolting.
  • Abusive Parents: Their father is greedy and verbally abusive to Kevin and their mom is a drunk. Both parents spoil them and let them do whatever they want.
  • Black Comedy Rape: Definitely not comedy, Anna's abuse by Kevin is taken with utter seriousness. And when Elsa finds out it results in a huge breakdown that destroys a resteraunt bathroom, hospitalizes Kevin and alters Thor to her presence.
  • Came Back Wrong: After being struck by ice from Elsa in the head the doctor said that he would become more deranged and violent. Yet when we hear from him next he is said to be in a calm and brain-bead state. It is implied that Dorian lobotomized him.
  • Decomposite Character: They are both this for Hans from the movie. Marcy is his charming manipulative side, while Kevin is his violent and psychopathic side. He even has side-burns.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Despite their bad traits, the twins do love each other.
  • False Friends: They pretended to like Anna when they were little for her popularity. Once Anna's dad looses the election one cuts ties with her and becomes her bully while the other becomes a controlling boyfriend.
  • Hated by All: No one out of universe likes them.
  • Hypocrite: Kevin wanted revenge on Anna for dumping him, even though he was planning to leave her for Elsa.
  • Jerkass: Both of them.
  • Karma Houdini: Though Kevin arguably got a Disproportionate Retribution for being rendered brain damaged and hospitalized, Marcy was let off relatively easy.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: using a stone she got from her mother, Elsa erases the memory of her powers from everyone on earth, including them.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Kevin is a 20 something man who yells at Anna whenever she does something he doesnt like and congratulates his sister for pulling mean pranks on her (Which makes her a Womanchild). When he is stood up by Elsa and dumped by Anna he throws a hissy fit and takes petty revenge by humiliation and later physical violence. Aside form that he still lives with his dad and has a rock-and-roll poster in his room. After his brain damage he spends his days eating applesauce and playing with toys.

     Henry Snow
  • Amazon Chaser: He admitted one of the reasons he found Skadi attractive was because she was taller than him.
  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: In contrast to Skadi, Henry loved Elsa for who she was and even sends her a warning in a dream from the afterlife.
  • Loved by All: Even Skadi, the cold goddess of winter, admitted to actually feeling something for Henry despite mainly using him for reproduction.
  • Mayfly–December Romance: His and Skadi's relationship would have been this. Which is why she didnt bother developing a real relationship with him despite finding him a wonderful man.
  • Posthumous Character: He has been dead for years after chapter one.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Skadi tried using him to create a new race of jotuns, it didnt work, but he got Elsa.

     Dorian Romanov
  • Abusive Parents: His father just wants him to be more social, but his worry manifests as constantly yelling at him for hours when he fails at social norms.
  • Ambiguously Evil: He is antisocial and standoffish, but he hasn't done anything bad, yet. It is implied he did lobotomize Kevin, though his test results showed that he would become more violent and insane from the brain damage so he was possibly trying to prevent that.
  • Character Tic: He eats his sandwiches crust first. That's how Elsa recognized him years later.
  • Exact Words: The sone that was supposed to give everyone Laser-Guided Amnesia was supposed to affect everyone ON EARTH, he was in a plane so he still has his memories.
  • Foil: He and Elsa were both antisocial outcasts who were bullied by their peers, but while Elsa did genuinely try and grew out of her issues while becoming a better person, Dorian just became more detached and bitter at the world.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Implied.
  • No Social Skills: Unlike Elsa who grew out of it, he just became more misanthropistic. He was also unaware that the man he was arguing with at the restaurant was the former mayor.
  • Politically Correct Villain: He has no issues with homosexual relationships, just read his introductory chapter.
  • The Sociopath: He doesnt seem to form connections with people, and it is implied he lobotomized Kevin.
  • The Dreaded: Elsa's father warned her to Beware the demon with four eyes. He wears glasses and is the only other person who remembers Elsa having powers at the end of the first "book" and takes peculiar interest in Elsa.
  • Then Let Me Be Evil: A varient, after a life time of failing at social norms and being scolded by his father for it, Dorian has decided that he just doesn't like other people.

     Norse Gods

In General

  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: Even when they make a deal they will try to pull a Loop Hole Abuse or cheat to get out of their end of it.
  • Fantastic Racism: They exterminated most of the Jotnar to prevent ragnarok.
  • I Gave My Word: A swear on Odins spear is unbreakable, though it doesnt stop them from pulling a Loop Hole Abuse.
  • Jerkass Gods: With the exception of Tyr, Heimdallr, Idunn and Baldr.
  • Physical God
  • Really 700 Years Old: They are older than the vikings by atleast thousands of years. Possibly even millions.
  • Sadly Mythtaken: Joan explicitly states that some of the stories involving the gods are either fabricated or exaggerated to make them look more god-like. Specifically Odin did not create humanity, the realms do not sit in a giant tree, earth is not made from a giants corpse, Jotnar are not the cause of winter, nor are they malicious to humans, Heimdallr is a girl Though she is a Brawn Hilda, Loki told humans she was a guy out of a joke and Loki did not birth Sleipnir Heimdallr told people that out of revenge.
  • Sizeshifter: Can change between giant sized and human sized at will.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: They offered Skadi a place among them in compensation for killing her father, though this may have just been to get a powerful Jotun on their side since they offered Elsa the same deal after supposedly killing Jormungandr.

Odin

  • Eye Patch Of Power: Of course he's Odin.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Subverted, after trying to have Elsa killed and trying to cheat ehr out of her freedom he offers her a place as a goddess for the sake of having more powerful beings on their side. Except Elsa doesnt want any part of them, which he brushes off.
  • Odd Friendship: Anna wonders why Odin would become blood-brothers with the psychopathic god of mischief.
  • Ima Humanitarian: According to Elsa, he once drank mead created from the wisest being in existence thinking it would make him wiser.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Looks like Thor but with gray streaks in his beard.

Thor

  • Adaptational Villainy: In mythology Thor had many flaws but was a protector of humanity none the less. Here Joan specifically states that he doesnt protect humanity from Jotuns which means he's just a jerk.
  • Adaptational Wimp: He is beaten by Joan and Elsa, an Einherjar and a human-Jotnar hybrid. Lampshaded by Vidar. Thor reasons that he has been out of practice since they were mostly exterminated.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He lends his magic hammer to his granddaughter Bulda to make sure she is prepared to face Jormungandr.
  • Fiery Red Head: Oh yes.

Vidar

  • Adaptational Personality Change: In mythology he is known as the silent god, here he's very vocal and arrogant.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: To Thor.
  • Composite Character: On his profile on the authors Deviantart page it says that he was birthed to kill Hodr to avenge Baldr, which makes him a composite character between Vidar and Vali (who in mythology was actually birthed to do so).
  • Lack of Empathy: The only person he cares about is Odin, mocks his brother and niece and commits Cold-Blooded Torture on Kristoff just to lure Elsa and Anna.
  • I Shall Taunt You: He enjoys doing this, especially to Thor.
  • Rainbow Pimp Gear: Non-video game example. He wears his famous shoes made from the scraps of other shoes, carries two knives (one gold one silver), his pants are made from the various skins stitched together (including human, cow, goat, wolf, etc.) and wears a plaid shirt.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: He claims to be Odins most powerful son.
  • Sadist
  • The Sociopath: See Lack of Empathy

Skadi Thiazisdottir

  • Avenging the Villain: Came to Asgard to avenge her fathers death.
  • Lack of Empathy: She is very cold when meeting her daughter for the first time.
  • Woman Scorned: She helped punish Loki by placing the poisonous snake over his head to avenge her father and crush Baldr. Loki implies that they slept together once.
  • An Ice Person: She is the goddess of winter and much more powerful than her daughter.
  • Loves My Alter Ego: Henry fell for her as "Nora Menzel" a tour guide in Norway.
  • Pet the Dog: Gave Anna a magic sword and belt to help her save Elsa from Jormungandr. She also admits that she genuinely cared about Elsa's father. She also considers abandoning Elsa this because she took her to her father instead of leaving her to die in a forest like most Jotuns during "her day" did.
  • Really Gets Around: She had been trying to recreate the Jotnar race for over a century by having relations with humans. She admits she had many lovers before meeting Elsa's father.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She looks just like a taller version of Elsa.
  • One Head Taller: Much taller than her daughter and a foot taller than Kristoff.

Freyja and Freyr

Idunn

Tyr

Heimdallr

Fenrir

Baldr

Loki

  • Abusive Parents: Kitty describes him as one. He even burnt Hels face during a drunken rage.
  • And I Must Scream: He has been chained under the earth for millennia with a snake dripping venom into his eyes. And when one snake dies Jormungandr just places a new one.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: After his wife Angrboda died he became a drunk. From then on he got worse.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He honestly did love his first wife Angrboda and he screamed in horror when his sons were killed.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Killed Baldr presumably out of jealousy.
  • Hoist by Their Own Petard: He was a terrible father, so while in prison one of his children keeps placing a snake over his eyes to keep his torture endless.
  • Posthumous Character: All we see of him is a flashback of his imprisonment. He has only been mentioned since.

Bulda

  • All There in the Manual: Word of God is that she is Thors Granddaughter because her mom is Thors daughter Thrud, and her father is his human companion Thjalfi.
  • Always Someone Better: Played Straight and Averted. Bulda only won her fight with Joan because of her cap, Joan was winning before hand.
  • Hat of Power: Her winged cap allows her to move at super speed.
  • Original Character: She was specifically created for the story. Though she may be based on a valkarie of the same name.
  • Villainous Lineage: Is as arrogant and violent as her grandfather.
