The Fabulous Killjoys/The Fab Four

    Party Poison

Party Poison

Actor(s): Gerard Way

Party Poison is the fiery, redheaded leader of the Fab Four, who along with the rest of the group, helped to protect and raise The Girl as they fought against Better Living Industries.

Tropes:

  • Badass Driver: A bit of a necessity when your daily life is spent trying to not get murdered by the mooks of a psychopathic, evil corporation.
  • Big Brother Instinct: If real-life relationships and the album post-"Jet Star and the Kobra Kid" is anything to go by, Party certainly has this for Kobra, considering that it's implied that Kobra's death in the album is what sparks his Roaring Rampage of Revenge. He's also certainly got one for The Girl, considering that his Roaring Rampage of Revenge in the music videos involves storming a heavily-protected BL/ind compound to get her back despite the significant risk it poses to him and the other members. It's heavily implied that they knew it would get them all killed but did it anyway to get her back.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Aside from his bright-red hair, Party's most defining attribute is his blue Dead Pegasus jacket.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Understatement of the century, right there. One can only assume that when one is not beholden to traffic laws or other drivers, you learn to make it a bit more fun.
  • Boom, Headshot!: How he meets his end at the hands of Korse in the "SING" music video.
  • Cool Mask: His yellow domino mask. Cool enough that The Girl has a hell of a time trying to get it back after his death.
  • Fiery Redhead: This seems to be a common trait amongst the Killjoys, all things considered, but as the Fab Four's leader he certainly sees it though.
  • Heroic BSoD: Has one in the "SING" video after he kills a Draculoid and sees the human underneath its mask. It gets him killed.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Done with the rest of the group for The Girl to live in the "SING" music video. Implied in the album song "Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back."
  • Hot-Blooded: Like any good Killjoy. Though unlike most examples, BL/ind is a bit too powerful of a foe for them to win against.
  • "I Am" Song: Gets one of these in the album song "Party Poison." Not particularly surprising, considering that it's named after him.
  • Iconic Item: The aforementioned mask.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: With The Girl, though it's more familial than most examples.
  • The Leader: Of the Fab Four's Ragtag Bunch of Misfits team.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: As befitting any character portrayed by Gerard Way.
  • Mentor Occupational Hazard: Is very much aware of the risks that keeping The Girl from BL/ind poses, and when she's captured, goes into the BL/ind compound with the others to rescue her fully anticipating this outcome. He's right.
  • Parental Substitute: Serves as one of these for The Girl, along with the rest of the Fab Four.
  • Primary-Color Champion: Red hair, blue jacket, yellow raygun. What more do you need?
  • Recruit Teenagers with Attitude: By necessity, really. Adults aren't particularly plentiful out in the Zones, likely because being a Killjoy tends to come with what's practically a guarantee of dying young.
  • Red Is Heroic: He's certainly got the hair for it.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: He gets a particularly nasty one of these, though the circumstances and reasoning behind it are different depending on if you're choosing to go off of the album's vague plotline or that of the music videos. Though both do either show or imply that it ends in his death.
    1. Done with the rest of the Fab Four during the events of the "SING" music video in their efforts to reclaim The Girl from BL/ind's clutches. They succeed, but no one makes it out alive except for The Girl herself.
    2. Done with Fun Ghoul post-"Jet Star and the Kobra Kid," in a more traditional format, as he's doing it because one of his best friends and his brother are dead at BL/ind's hands. If "Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back" is of any indication, Fun Ghoul is the only one who manages to stay alive through the end of it.
  • Too Cool to Live: Him and the rest of the Fab Four, unfortunately for both the audience and The Girl.

    Jet Star

Jet Star

Actor(s): Ray Toro

A fellow member of the Fab Four, Jet Star helped to protect and raise The Girl as they continued their fight against BL/ind.

Tropes:

  • Blue Is Heroic: Carries around a blue raygun.
  • Cool Helmet: Alongside Kobra Kid's.
  • Cool Shades: Goes along perfectly with his leather jacket and all-black ensemble.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Dresses in nearly all black, down to the sunglasses (and later eyepatch) that he wears, but he's a member of a group fighting against an evil corporation for the good of society and the young girl they're trying to protect.
  • Eyepatch After Time Skip: Gains one of these in the "SING" music video, with no explanation for how he got the injury that caused it.
  • Sinister Shades: Averted. Jet's part of the very-much heroic main cast.
  • Those Two Guys: One half of this with Kobra Kid. In the album itself, they even die together.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Though the music videos were hardly characterization-heavy, the audience barely gets any time with Jet before he's killed alongside the rest of the Four in the music video for "SING," and he hardly gets any more time in the album itself, his death, as well as the death of Kobra Kid being announced in a spoken interlude not even halfway through it.

    Fun Ghoul

Fun Ghoul

Actor(s): Frank Iero

A member of the Fab Four renowned for his explosives-making abilities, Fun Ghoul helped to protect and raise The Girl alongside the others as his weapons contributed to the fight against BL/ind.

Tropes:

  • Dark Is Not Evil: He might have jet-black hair, but he's with the good guys.
  • Demolitions Expert: Functions as this for the group, as demonstrated in the music video for "Na Na Na."
  • Dying Alone: In the album itself, it's all but stated that he's the last Killjoy left standing at the end of it all, considering the deaths of Jet Star and Kobra Kid are announced partway through and it's heavily implied that Party Poison pulled a Heroic Sacrifice for him at the end of "Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back." Averted in the music videos, where BL/ind pulls a kill everyone in the video for "SING" and this trope gets averted. Hard.
I'm the only friend that makes you cry
You're a heart attack in black hair dye
    So just save yourself
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: His dyed black hair tends to give him this look, especially next to his blond and red-haired teammates.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Judging by his skill with explosives, he's one of these.
  • Glasgow Grin: His mouth scar from the "SING" video is reminiscent of one of these.

    Kobra Kid

Kobra Kid
